When Jiwoong first heard Matthew call him 'Jiwoon hyung', he thought it had been a simple mistake.
But as time went on and Matthew still kept pronouncing his name wrong, Jiwoong began to suspect that Matthew might be unable to say ‘Jiwoong hyung’. Perhaps he hadn't even noticed the small flaw in his pronunciation.
However, the mispronunciation didn’t bother Jiwoong all that much, so he didn’t see any need to correct Matthew on it. At that point, he also felt like it'd be awkward to suddenly bring it up, so he decided to just let it be.
Jiwoong figured that it’d be completely fine, as long as no one else would mention it to Matthew either. And to his relief, no one ever did. Not even when they started to spend more time together and Matthew was always calling his name excitedly, for everyone to hear.
So, on their final night sleeping at Planet Camp, Jiwoong was confident that he'd been able to make it through the whole show without anyone bringing it up.
But then, right in front of Jiwoong's eyes, Matthew was told that he'd been saying his name wrong the entire time.
Matthew denied it while looking confused, like he truly was unable to hear it himself. Still, he went along with the fondly amused trainees who started guiding him to say each syllable one by one to make sure he'd get them right.
And Matthew did, nailing the 'woong' when it had been separated from 'ji' and 'hyung'. But when he had to put all the pieces back together and call his name...
'Jiwoon hyung!'
Secretly, Jiwoong was glad that Matthew hadn't been able to correct his mispronunciation. He'd come to see the cute mistake as something special, a nickname that only Matthew called him by.
