Chapter 1: world building
Chapter Text
So for this idea, I'm basically taking the idea that Gods don't have real DNA and running with it. So first of all, any god could claim a demigod and that would rewrite the demigods godly DNA to match the god who claimed them. So in this Apollo could claim a child of Hermes and that would make the kid 100% his removing any and all claims that Hermes had on the child, changing any of the gifts the child got from Hermes to gifts any child of Apollo would have. Gods can get into custody battels over their kids, if their bio parent doesn't want their child stolen they will fight for custody and the winner will have claim over the child. Sometime both gods are so unwilling to let go of a kid that they split custody over the child, this could look like the kid have two godly parents or the child being a legacy of one god and a demigod of an other. Most gods don't adopt other demigods, they will care for their kids and their kids only, while other gods mainly the water deities and Apollo will adopt or try to adopt any kid they take interest in.
At some point in time some ocean deity had a kid they shouldn't have had and asked for someone else to claim the child to get the heat off them and it started a chain of events that made it so you had to fight to keep your kid your from any and all water deities. Water deities have to fight and keep custody over their kids, adopted or not, until they are 15 or made it to camp (whatever came first) in order to keep calling that kid theirs. This is apart of the reason that water deities are seen as possessive over their kids, they are constantly fighting to keep their kid from other water deities greedy hands that they forget that others would have litter interest in taking their kid. The most of the other gods have no idea that the water deities have to fight to keep their kids they just know that they are possessive over their kids and try their best to keep Apollo away from any water demigod because they know about his adoption habit and don't want to start a war because Apollo tried to adopt a water child. Apollo, Artemis, and Athena all know about the underwater adoption rates but for different reasons. Athena knew because she was raised underwater until she was kicked out for killing Pallas and she is being forced to keep the knowledge of how water politics works a secret. Apollo knows because demigods related to water are 20 times more likely to be seers than any other demigods besides his own kids and got in the middle of a few custody battles in order to claim the kid as one of his prophets. Artemis knows because of Apollo.
Apollo's adoption habit is why he is band from camp half blood, he is the protector of youth and if he finds a sad unclaimed demigod it pulls at his heart strings and he is likely to just adopt the child. He knows what he can get away with when it comes to looking after his kids and is one of the best godly parents because he knows all the loopholes when it comes to the law so he interacts with his kids more than others and wont feel bad for adopting a demigod because he knows he can look after them better than most other gods. Apollo used to check in on camp every few years to check on his oracle and for full his duty as the protector of youth and would always adopt a few kids on his visits. The other gods aren't happy that their kids kept getting adopted by Apollo before they could claim them and that he got to visit camp and his kids more often than they did so they pushed Zeus to get him banded. Now Apollo is only allowed into camp half-blood if he is giving the hunters a ride, their is a medical issue that needs his help, or if their is an issue with his oracle even though he should have be able to visit any time given his domain as protector of youth. It used to be common knowledge around camp that Apollo would adopt kids but with him not being allowed to visit the only campers that know now are in the apollo cabin. If are are claimed with in 24 for hours of getting into camp you are a bio apollo kid and if you are claimed any latter than that you are adopted, everyone in the cabin knows this but they refuse to share this knowledge with the rest of camp because it would hurt the unclaimed kids more.
When the big three made their oath to avid having kids, Poseidon didn't actually take it. He know that he wouldn't be able to not have kids because he knew himself, even if he could avoid falling for a mortal he wouldn't be able to avoid claiming a demigod as his own. When he meet Sally he fell and love and they of course had Percy, and he was ready to fight to keep custody of his son. The other water deities were pocking around and some even tried to talk Poseidon into giving them custody by pointing out the risks of having a kid right now. But Poseidon didn't care, he loved Sally and he loved their son and would fight to keep his son daming the consequences. He probably would have been able to keep Percy as his own if the Styx didn't get involved. The Styx took an intrest in Sally because she was on of the few people that kept her promises so she was one of the few people that didn't pollute her river. After Percy was born the Styx join the custody battle because she liked Sally and because Percy should have been a child of a broken oath but wasn't and that helped draw her attention. She ended up winning the custody battle but let Poseidon have some claim since he was too persistent and would keep one trying to win back full custody other wise and time was running out before Percy was going to end up at camp. So Percy is known as the son of Styx and a legacy of Poseidon.
Chapter Text
Ok for the tlf I think beginning should be the same up until capture the flag and Percy get cornered by the five Ares campers. Like the moment that Percy blood lands in the creak, something weird happens to the water but it goes unnoticed since their is fight going on. The Ares kids land a few more hits and more of Percy's blood hit the water making the water react more but again it goes unnoticed for the most part and then Percy turns the fight around and starts beating the Ares's kids. Shortly after that his team gets the flag and the game is over and suddenly the hellhound attacks and even more of Percy blood ends up in the creak and he heals but instead of Poseidon's symbol appearing above his head Styx herself shows up to claim her one and only demigod kid. This of course makes everyone freak out and they are just stuck in stunned silence while Styx starts talking. Styx explains that Percy is her kid and as her kid Percy blood contains her river water and that he bled so much into the creak between the two attacks his blood turned this small creak into a new extension of her river. Meaning Percy blood turn the creak in camp into a new mini very of the river Styx. The people closest to the creak all take a step back wanting to put more distance between them and the dangerous water while a few people take a step close to see if they could spot the difference between how the water used to be and what it is now. I think either Chiron or Mr. D should ask Styx if this could be undone since this was a dangerous thing to have in camp but Styx just tells them that actions have consequences. Before she leaves Styx says that Percy could stay in the Poseidon cabin as he is one of Poseidon's legacies since she doesn't have a cabin and then just leaves.
The campers kind of avoid Percy after that mainly because they don't know what make of him. He is the son of deity that even gods are weary of and a legacy of one of the big three. Percy is still given a quest since Percy has ties to the ocean so he is still blamed. He is given the same prophecy and Annabeth and Grover still go with him. A lot of the quest is the same until they run into Ares. Instead of shutting his mouth and taking the side quest Percy refuses, he tells Ares that he refuse to help him avoid the consequences of a broken oath and that Ares information means nothing since he was already going to the underworld and could just see in person what Ares was going to tell him about his mom. Ares tries to argue that he broke no oath especially one on the Styx and Percy just tells him that didn't matter if it was on the Styx or not since he can feel that Ares broke either a oath or a promise and that he wouldn't help someone avoid the consequences they deserve, especially when he is already paying the price of some else's actions. He drags both Annabeth and Grover away so they could continue on their quest and try to find a way to west. Again things go basically the same expect for two big difference they never got the any supplies from Ares so they never got the blot and when he meat with the nereid he isn't given the pearls. Instead the nereid tells Percy that he is also part of the underworld, more importantly he was part of the Styx which is the boundary hinting at the fact that Percy could enter and leave whenever he wants. When they get to the underworld and have a chance to talk to Hades, Percy declares that he likes the guy because he can tell that Hade is a person that keeps their world. This makes the interaction way more civil, with Percy vouching for Hades it makes the other more at easy and since Hades respects Styx he is willing to talk things out with her kid. It also helps that Percy didn't have the lighting bolt so their was no evidence pointing to Percy as the thief besides Zeus's word and Hades knows how his little brother can be and wont just talk his word for things. After talking some they figured out what happened and that Ares was the one to blame, after all he was the only other god that they have really talked to, and if Hades wasn't the one that turned it had to be Ares. Hades has a fury escort them as they leave and promised to return Percy's mom when Percy returns his helm, he trusted Percy to keep his world but he has a reputation to uphold.
Before they leave the underworld Percy pick some trash from the Styx and fills his water bottle with water form the river. This time when they get back to the surface Ares isn't waiting for them, since he never got the chance to plant the blot on Percy, Ares had to try and come up with some of other type of plan and fast because Apollo was catching on to the fact that something isn't quite right with him. So Ares was looking for places he could stash the blot for Luke to get while he delt with his brother and wait out the deadline when Percy, Annabeth, and Grover come back form the underworld. So instead of of trying to find Ares with the few hours they had before the deadline Percy tries to do something with his powers to summon Ares to him. One of the pieces of trash that Percy picked up from the river of Styx is a physical representation of one of the oaths Ares have broken in the past and has yet to pay the prize. Percy uses the connection of broken oath from the object to Ares to drag Ares to them. From their he basically blackmails/threatens Ares with the combination of his broken oath and the Styx. Percy tells Ares that he will make him face the consequences of his broken oath right here and now or that he might just soak him with Styx water if he didn't give him the bolt and the helm. Ares gives him the both without a fight since knows that both of those things would get him hurt and he does have some self preservation in him. Before Ares leaves Percy tell him that the consequences of his broken oath will still come for him at some point and that it can't be avoid for ever. Percy give the helm to their Furry escort and uses his other pieces of trash from the Styx to summon Zeus to them to hand other the bolt.
Zeus wasn't happy to be summon at all, even the fact that his blot is back in his reach didn't do much to lighten his mood. Percy isn't happy with Zeus at all, he see all the oaths/promises that he has made and broken and he now hates Zeus because of how big that number is. Before Percy actually gives Zeus back his blot he rants a bit too anergy over everything to care that he might be smited and just lays into into Zeus on he was acting and how this went against his oath to be a good king. Percy points out that their is no justice in anything that happened, that their are multiply ways this could have all be avoided, if Zeus just got his head out of his ass and listened to his counsel like a good king instead being a paranoid little shit and blamed someone with no evidence. He points out that Apollo and Hermes as the gods of truth and lies could have just asked anyone that was capably of steeling the blot that was around the time it was stolen if they did it and know if they are telling the truth or not. That if Zeus acted like good king and relied on his counsel he could have had a real suspect and with evidence to back it up and could have even found the thief months ago if he didn't just put all the blame his brother. He point out how unfair things at camp are with the unclaimed campers having to bunk with the Hermes kids leading to over crowding and that his was no way to treat some of his subjects. Because demigods were his subjects too, they were also apart the mythical world even if they were also mortal. Zeus goes to say something because he isn't about to let some demigod child talk to him like that but Percy doesn't let him using the Styx water to threaten Zeus to be quite. Percy then goes own to rant about the share amount of oaths Zeus has broken and he reminds Zeus that he isn't untouchable, that the Styx is just waiting for a time to strike, to make him pay. With that happy note Percy has run out of things to say and hands the blot back Zeus, Zeus looks like he is ready to zap Percy but Percy says that he is already in hot water with the Styx and ask if Zeus really wants to makes things worse by unjustly killing her son. Zeus just leaves without saying a thing because he got his reminder on powerful the Styx and realizes that he is in big trouble when consequences catch up with him and he would rather put that off for as long as he could. At some point in the rant Percy does drop the bomb that Kronous was behind it all but Zeus sort of ignores even after he got a warning to be a king because he thinks this most some kind of misunderstanding on Percy's part and he has enough to wary about as it is.
After the it is all over Annabeth and Grover are stairing at Percy like he is crazy and when they get over their shock over what happen they start questioning Percy on what happened. Percy just tells them that he was going off of the vibes and what felt natulral at the time, he didn't mean to go an a rant, but he got angery when the say the share amount of broken oath and that it short of just happened. The three of them slowly make their way back to camp, stopping at Percy's house on the way back so they could get some supplies for the last leg of the journey and to double check that his mom is in fact back safe. He trust Hades but seeing is believing. They got their, Annabeth and Grover has the missfortoun of meeting smelly gabe and Percy finds the box on his bed and give meduca head to Sally. After getting some food, money, and some of Percy's things they head back to camp. When they get back to camp their find that Zeus sort of listened to Percy rant/threating and the unclaimed kids were welcomed into Zeus cabin. After that the summer was relatively uneventful until it was close to the end of the summer where Luck leaves to join Kronous. When Lukes leaves he tries to get Percy to join him because he is a powerful demigod and thinks that he could turn Percy by pointing out how many of oath the olmipions had. Percy is kind of temped to join but he doesn't because he knows that Krounous is the worse option and that the gods can be better. Percy tries to get Luke to stay by pointing out how the gods could be better and starting the unclaimed kids being moved into Zeuse cabin as proff. Luke agrue backs that his isn't because the gods care, that this so called act of kindness is just Zeus wanting more offering now that someone is living his brothers cabin. Luke summins the pit schopin and tries to kill Percy. Like in the book Percy is posied but get help so he is fine unlike the book, Percy isn't allowed to go home for the fall.
Annabeth and Grover where concerned over Percy's home live after meting smelly gabe and brought the issue up to Chiron and Mr.D. Due to camp polices Percy can't live with Sally until fall year has passed with gabe out of her life. This is to make sure that Sally has time to get back on her feet to and is up to the task of taking care of a demigod child and Percy has to go to therapy while he is waiting for the year to pass so he can have a chance to heal and deice if he really does want to live with his mom again after she let someone like gabe into their life. When things like this happen they try to keep it on the down low, but kids are noise and everyone tends to knows when something like this happens. Before Annabeth goes to life her dad, she makes Percy pomise to keep in touch and also gives him a short of run down on how things work in the off season.
Notes:
I wanted Percy being the son of Styx to be a big deal but I also wanted the gods to over look that and pay more attention to the fact that Percy is related to Poseidon. Styx is a dig deal because she is powerful enough to punish the gods when they broke a oath on her waters but they have forgotten that fact and don't treat oath as a big deal anymore, that paired with the issues Zeus and Poseidon are having the gods put more emphasis on Percy relations to Poseidon than the Styx. Expect for Hades, he knows Styx better than the other gods seeing how they both live in the underworld and never forgot how powerful she is and he wouldn't treat her demigod with disrespect over some rumors his little bother started over the fact that the demigods shard blood with their middle brother. In fact after the whole o deal was over he had a talk with the furrys for going after Percy since he never ordered that, he just wanted them to investigate where his helm went not to attack anyone but they got over excited and attacked, almost making them an enmy of the child of the styx.
I'm also going with that the gods broke promise and oaths a lot, mainly because they live for a really long time and most don't think about their wording and don't put an end date to many of their promise and oath and that come to bite them in the ass latter down the line. Not to mention when they just flat out break a oath because they think they are untouchalbe. So a lot if not all the gods have something floating in the Styx represent a broken oath that they have not been punished for yet, the Styx is waiting for the right time to make them pay but she will let Percy do what every he wants with that information, if he feel like the gods need to pay now they she will let him deal out the punishment.
As for Ares, the reason that Percy didn't help him get his sheild has two answers, the first is if you don't like the idea of Ares/Aphrodite/Hephaestus, the reason is that marriage is a oath and Ares willing helps Aphrodite break it since he is her boyfriend and is as much to blame for the broken oath as she is and if Hephaestus what his pay back with traps than so be it. If Percy went to go get the sheild he would have gotten in the of Hephaestus pay back for the broken oath of his marriage. The second answer is if you like the idea of Ares/Aphrodite/Hephaestus, Ares messed up and broke some kind of promise of Hephaestus and the trap was his pay back, again Percy wasn't going to stand in the way of someone getting their pay back for a broken promise.

Chapter Text
Ok thing are going to be a lot different in this than in the cannon, for starters I'm thinking that instead of jumping straight into the summer we see some of the what happens during the school year. Since Percy is being forced into staying at camp he isn't going to be enrolled in school, or at lest not right away. I always imagined that camp half blood had a couple of different options for the year rounders when it came to school work. The first option is being home school, with your work is overseen by Chiron, Mr. D, or an older camper depending on who is busy at the time, the second option is to be enrolled into a school that is close to camp. This option is mostly reserved for older kids that they can trust to protect themself and kids that they can trust that wont go looking for trouble in order to prove themselves. The third option is a combination of both, taking some home school class with the rest of camp and talking some classes at a school near by. So I'm thinking that Percy will start of the school year doing home school class with the majority of the year rounders, then switch to going to a public school near by, than switching to a hybrid schedule by the end of the school year.
The reason for Percy's weird schooling is mainly because of the border failing. At the start of the school year Percy wanted to be home school with the majority of the year rounders because he was tired of being kick out of mortal school, he also thought it would be a nice chance to get close to the rest of camp. Over time Percy got more and more on edge/jumpy and eventual let it slip in one of his therapy sessions that he felt unsafe in camp. Every one assumed that Percy felt unsafe in camp because he was attacked twice inside of the border and almost died and being forced to stay their is just making the issue worse. They talked with Percy about his options and he decided that he wanted to go full time to a pubic school. Percy ended up going to the same school as Pollux and Castor. The twins where a few months older than him but they were in the grade above him, leading to the twins to tease him about how much younger he was. During his time as a full time student he meets Tsyon and befriended him. Percy intruded Tsyon to the other the twins, it was ruff first meeting but it ended with them all being friends. Eventually it got around camp that Percy and a couple of other demigods have meet a friendly cyclops and wanted to see if it was true. Slowly but surely all the year rounders meet and befriended Tsyon. After a while, I'm thinking around winter break the border around camp became noticeably weaker. They figure out that part of the reason Percy felt unsafe at camp was become he could feel something wrong with the border since the Styx also has something to do with boundaries and that helped make things feel more unsafe for Percy. During winter break Percy ties to strengthen the border using the minnie river of styx that is now in camp. His thought prosses was that if he could feel something wrong with the border he should be able to help fix it and he does find a way expect that it is very taxing. The more the border fails the more taxing it is for Percy to contribute to keeping the border up it gets.
By spring break Percy switches to a hybrid schedule so he can help more with the border, he would have picked to stay at camp full time but he was encouraged to continue with mortal school to give himself a break and to avoid over working himself. Pollux and Castor started walking Percy to his classes, acting as his bodyguards to make sure nothing happened to him. It was partly to show how much they cared and appreciated him and partly because they were all doomed if Percy was hurt by a bully and couldn't help with the border anymore. They knew that Tyson would take scare away any monsters but Percy was more likely to protect Tyson from bullies than the other way around. Once it become oblivious that this situation wasn't sustainable the campers joined forced to try to find a solution but any plans get put on hold after finding out that Chiron was getting fired and they were told any and all quest had to wait until the new guy showed up at the being of the summer. By the end of the school the border is failing badly and monster are getting into camp and the effort of keeping up the border is slowly killing Percy and everyone can tell. The camp makes a schedule to slit up that days where Percy is keeping the border up and days where their is a border patrol, as time goes on it gets more and more obvious that they are on a time limit. More than a few of the demigods are cursing the gods for not allowing them to go on a quest earlier, making any good impression the gods got by getting the unclaimed demigods out of the Hermes cabin disappear. When Clarisse wasn't on border patrol she stationed herself at Percy side, as his self proclaimed bodyguard. She may not have liked Percy but she knew that if anything happened to him then camp was doomed, that the border is only still standing because Percy was there to share the weight of keeping it up. She could suck up her pride and protect someone she didn't like if it meant saving her home. With all the time they spend together the two of them begrudgingly become friends and Clarisse started to do more than just be his guard. She started doing things to make Percy live easier and did anything in her power to make strain of holding up the border easier. Towards the end of the school year Clarisse basically kidnaped Percy into Ares cabin, she didn't like the fact that Percy was by himself with no one to watch his back while he slept. So shy dragged Percy into her cabin, where she and end the rest of her cabin could have his back while he got much needed sleep.
Annabeth is unaware of any of this because despite making Percy promise to stay in touch, she was pretty bad about staying in touch with anyone in camp while she readjusted to living in the mortal word. There was a lot of things that she had to get used to again, while trying to learn more about her mortal family, so she was busy and let somethings slip throw the creaks. She does try to get so information about camp when she realized that something was wrong but by that time everyone was too busy to inform her of anything. She go to Percy's school grab him on the way to camp and gets wrapped into the worsted last day of school every because of a monster attack. Castor and Pollux where so worried when they realized that a monster as attacking because they were no where close to the gym and whatever was attacking felt brave enough to attack with Tsyon around. Annabeth meets Tsyon and while she is calling the gray sister taxi to get them to camp, Percy IMs the twins to let them know what happened, during the taxi ride the gray sisters give them coordinates. When they get to camp their is a monster attack and Annabeth gives Tsyon permission to enter camp something that no one did yet even tho Tsyon has many friends at camp. After the attack they give Annabeth a crash course in what was happening and Percy shares the few dreams he had about Grover. They putt the prices together and forced tantculce into ordering a quest, Tantacules give Clarisse the quest and she goes on her own. Percy tries to talk Clarisse into taking someone with her but she refused. Percy trust her completely but is worried about her safety but lets her go since he doesn't have the energy to fight. Before she leaves Clarisse makes sure there is someone else their take up her role as Percy's bodyguard and patrol organizer. Annabeth goes to try to talk Percy into going with her after Clarisse and Percy declines because he is too unwell to go on a quest and came back alive plus he needs to be here for the camp. He tries to talk Annabeth into trusting Clarisse like he does but that doesn't go too well and Annabeth still want to go. Seeing that he failed into talking Annabeth out of her idea he makes her promise to take Tyson with her, his winning argument is that Tyson is the son of the sea god and that will count for something if he isn't a demigod.
So Clarisse, Annabeth, and Tyson are all the quest to get the golden fleece while Percy keeps the tree alive be taking the stress of keeping the border up off the tree letting it have more energy to try to fight off the poison. Things are spilt up showing what is going on the quest and how thing are going on in the camp. The quest is a success having gotten to the golden fleece intime to save the tree and Percy. Things are a little award when Thalia wakes up because of the while unclaimed demigods staying in the Zeus camp and really knowing what to do now that their is someone staying in that cabin. Their is also the while thing with the great prophecy thing (that everyone thinks implies to her seeing that she is the only child of the big three) that will be happening when she is 16 and they have no idea how old she is. Everyone knew that things where hearting up but they didn't think anything would come of it since their was no child that would fit the prophecy before this.
Chapter 4: The Titan's Curse
Chapter Text
Things are mostly the same until the Hunt shows up, Percy was allowed to go home for the school year since it has been a year since Sally got rid of smell gabe, and he really did want to try things out now that it would just be him and his mom. So when Grover asks for his help during winter break he agrees and his mom drives him, Annabeth, and Thalia to where they need to go. The car ride is a very awkward one, because you have Annabeth that helped separate the mother and son duo for a year and Thalia who doesn't know how to interact with Percy since he is the son of the Styx and her father broke an oath on the Styx to have her, and Percy who doesn’t know what do since both Annabeth and Thalia are acting weird. By the time they arrive at the school both girls jump out of the car ready to get their missions started and to get away from the awkward situation.
When they get into the school everything goes as in cannon until the Hunt shows up and Apollo is with them. Artemis looks like an adult not a kid, she made an effort to look older than Apollo, so while he looks about 17 Artemis looks about 22. Artemis basically shoves Nico at Apollo while she had her hunters heal Percy and had a talk with Bianca because she knows how much he likes kids. During their talk Artemis offered Bianca a place in the hunt but made sure that Bianca knew that would mean leaving Nico behind. Artemis made sure that Bianca knew all the risks and all the rewards that came with being a hunter so she could make an informed decision. Bianca still agrees to join the hunt but she makes sure to talk with Nico beforehand and tell him what is going on.
After getting healed Percy got dragged into a convocation with Nico and Apollo. Apollo reassures him that Annabeth is still alive and that he would have a chance to go on a quest to save her. Apollo then goes on to offer to take the demigods to camp, Artemis then goes on to stare intently at Apollo the two of them seemingly having a silent convocation before Artemis sighs and asks him to take her hunters to camp as well while she went on a solo hunt. This leads to another silent convocation before Artemis sighs again and agrees to take Zoe with her on her hunt.
Apollo gets the kids loaded into the sun bus and hands Thalia the keys since he was feeling a bit mischievous at that time and knew that this would lead to an interesting outcome. He had no idea that she would be that bad of a driver and regrets that decision almost immediately. When they crash land into the lake the first person to greet them is Mr. D who for once made himself look young. Instead of his usual appearance the god now looked a bit younger than Apollo, this made all the campers feel weird and wrong footed. Mr. D's first move was to ask if everyone was ok which was weird because he normally acts as if he couldn’t care less for the kids at camp and he seems to also direct his question towards Apollo as well which seems unnecessary since Apollo was god, an olympian even. One of the Apollo campers made eye contact with their dad and asked him to do a check up on Mr. D.
After reassuring everyone that everyone was fine Apollo was getting ready to leave stating that he really shouldn’t stay for that long seeing that he was still banned from staying at camp. Mr. D stops Apollo from leaving and again it looked like they were having a silent conversation before Apollo says that he’s taking over the archery lessons for next few days before heading to the big house closely followed Mr. D. Chiron announces that there will be a head counselor meeting tomorrow after the capture the flag game between the campers and the hunters before following the two gods. The campers are sort of just frozen in shock over everything that had happened before breaking off into groups to gossip over what just happened.
By the next day the few unclaimed kids that were at camp during the winter were claimed, once news got around that Apollo was at camp the gods were quick to claim their kids before they got adopted by the Olympion. This includes the di Angelos who were claimed by Persephone and a note fell from the sky into Chiron hands saying that the di Angelos were to stay in the Demter cabin.
Turns out after hearing so much about demigods from other gods Persephone wanted some of her own but didn’t want to cheat on her husband to get them. When she found out that her husband had some of his kids hidden away she took this as her chance to get some. At this point in time they were fighting about something and she used that to her advantage to say that she would forgive him if she could adopt his kids. After some more fighting he agreed to her terms, letring her fully adopt his kids leaving him to be nothing more than a step patient to his own children. Obviously no one besides the married couple knew that this took place and some people are worried about how Hades will react to his wife cheating on him, and Demter is 100% going to use this to fuel the fight between her and Hades.
That night Blackjack comes to Percy's cabin telling him a sea animal needs help and he goes and saves Bessy. On the way back to his cabin he runs into Apollo and they have a bit of chat. At some point Apollo says some vague and cryptic stuff and is very surprised when Percy asks some questions about it, Apollo just says that it was getting late and left looking like he was thinking very hard about something. The next day during the capture the flag game the oracle comes down from the addict and gives the prophecy to the acting leader of the hunter. Not long after an iris message from Zoe comes in, giving them breath run down about how their hunt went bad and that Atlas has taken Artemis. They tell her about the prophecy that was given and then move the conversion into the big house to talk about who is going on the quest. Apollo ends up cutting that conviction shot by picking the people who would go on this quest and picking a meeting place for Zoe to meet up with the other quest go ors.
The quest is basically the same except for the fact that Percy is there from the start and they had to make a stop to meet up with Zoe. They figure out that Bianca was trapped with the lotus eaters for years and that she can kill the zombies after them, it makes sense seeing as her mom is the queen of the underworld. On the lift Apollo gives them Thalia and Percy talk some things out and Percy makes it clear that what happened to her had nothing to do with the Styx. He explains that the Styx did have the power to punish the gods and they have apparently forgotten this fact. He tells her that the usual punishment for breaking an oath on his mother waters was for the god in question to be banished to the mortal world stripped of their powers and unable to eat ambrosia or nectar for ten years. He tells her that Styx was just waiting for a better time to punish Zeus and could care less about her. It wasn’t her fault that Zeus couldn’t keep it in his pants and deserved none of her ire. This moment was really the start of their friendship.
When they get to the junkyard of the Gods, Bianca really is just lost, not dead but lost. Percy can tell that her soul never crossed the Styx which is something he didn’t know he could do until he tried. They continue with their quest and everything is basically the same until after they tricked Atlas into taking the sky from Percy. Percy is in way worse shape because he is a part of both the oceans and the underworld and neither of those things get along well with sky and is closer to being a part of the dead than the living when things are said and done. Apollo makes a quick reappearance to heal Percy and to check on his sister before the two of them head to the meeting.
At the meeting the great prophecy was brought up and Thalia took her oath to become a hunter and shortly after Apollo gave a new Prophecy. This new prophecy was basically the same as the old great Prophecy except the line about a demigod of the eldest gods was replaced with a line that clearly meant that Percy or Nico was the child of the Prophecy. Zeus proposed the idea of a vote on whether or not to just kill the two demigods or not but that idea was quickly shot down by Apollo. Apollo then says something vague and cryptic and again Percy questions what Apollo means but Apollo doesn’t answer and instead just looks he figured something out and was slightly smug about it. Everyone else is just staring at the two of them in shock because Apollo just randomly started speaking a strange language and Percy answered in the same strange language. The meeting finished shortly after and the party started.
Poseidon took the party as a chance to talk to Percy for the first time and it was very awkward, since neither of them really knew how to interact with each other.

Chapter Text
So basically Prophecy and the fates have been fighting each other over the great prophecy for the past few years (since Percy was about 7) and Apollo got stuck in the middle.
Normally prophecy and fate work together, with prophecy shaping fate. Every prophecy has to come true, giving some shape to the future by giving it a fixed event. Fate gets to decide how the prophecy gets fulfilled, they get to pick the path the world walks on to reach the fixed point Prophecy has given them. But this time the fates and Prophecy are at a disagreement, the fates put the world on the path to complete the great prophecy but due to other gods interference they lost their intended heros. The fates were too busy testing Thalia to notice what was happening with Percy and the di Angelo’s and they were adopted under the fates nose making them no longer qualify to be the hero of the Great Prophecy. Since their adoption wasn’t a plan on saving the demigods from the Great Prophecy it flew under their radar. If the gods that adopted the kids were trying to save the kids from the Great Prophecy they would have been altered to someone trying to mess with their domain but that wasn't even an afterthought so it completely flew under their radar.
Because of Hera’s meldering the world was on the path to complete the Prophecy of the Seven in a few years, which wouldn’t have been a bad thing except for the fact that the Prophecy of the Seven has to be completed after the Great Prophecy. With the fates out of heroes to choose from to complete the Great Prophecy and the Prophecy of Seven coming up due to Hera’s actions the fates are backed into a conor. They can’t undo something that has already happened and they don’t have a lot of wiggle room to work with the wording of the Prophecy to pick a new hero. And to be honest the fates liked how their weave was going, it was the whole reason they allowed Hera to melt and aren’t happy in the slightest that they have to change their design. So the fates decided to do something slightly reckless for once and demanded that Prophecy change what it has declared so they don’t have to change the design they grew so attached to.
Prophecy didn’t like this at all, it was its job was to shape fate not the other way around, it wouldn’t change what it declared just because the fates couldn’t do their job right. This fight put a hold on their working relationship for however long it would take for both sides to come to an agreement. Which would take forever since both sides are used to getting whatever they wanted. Most people couldn’t tell that this fight was even going on but as the God of Prophecy Apollo got a front row seat as he got put in the middle. Since Prophecy can’t really be hurt the fates decide to go after the people connected to Prophecy aka oracles, prophets, and the biggest taggart of all the god of prophecy aka Prophecy's favorite person to try to strong arm them into changing their words.
The fates had an idea and tried to make Apollo speak a prophecy they made during the winter solstice hoping that this would override the old one making it void and putting the world back on a path that the fates liked. This had really bad consequences for Apollo, before all this Apollo just had a few headaches and a vague sense that something was wrong and had warned the console that something bad was probably coming but no one was prepared for what happened during the yearly meeting.
After the demigods left and the God moved on the real matters Apollo just sort of froze before he tried to say something only to choke on his ichor and coughed up gold blood with flakes of red in it. This would repeat a few times Apollo trying to say something only to choke and cough up golden blood with a few spots of red, the more this went on the worse it got and at some point Apollo started to bleed from eyes and nose. The other console members were just short of watching frozen in horror, not quite sure what to do since this has never happened before. They only broke out of their frozen state when Apollo finally collapsed to the floor unconscious, Artemis was the first one to move, rushing to her twin to check on him closely followed by Hades and the rest of the gods. They have no idea what was happening but they knew one thing for sure, Apollo was fading, one of the 12 olympians was fading.
This throws everyone into an even worse state of fear. They wouldn’t have believed this was happening if both Artemis and Hades weren’t feeling Apollo’s life slip through the cracks. Hermes is sent to go get Asclepius in hopes that he could help, that maybe his death cure would work on gods. All hope for that goes out the window when Asclepius announces that Apollo somehow used his own dominion in health to block any attempt to save him and seemed to be trying to speed up his own fading by using his dominion over plague which shouldn't be possible but was happening somehow. There was nothing Asclepius could do to save his father and the more he tried the faster he would speed up the process so he was just stuck watching his father fade, he was stuck watching someone he never thought he would lose die, he was stuck losing someone he cared about even after he made a cure for death and couldn’t help but wonder if this was payback for breaking the natural order.
The other gods didn’t take this news well, his siblings taking this the worse because even if they didn’t show it often they all cared for one another and can’t help but wonder if there were signs they could have missed over years that could have pointed to the fact that their brother was apparently suicidal. Artemis obviously took this news the worst because this was her twin, her other half, they were supposed to be there for each other no matter what and she apparently missed something that made her other half want to die. She swore to herself that she would find the person responsible for this and make them pay, that she would make anyone who hurt her younger twin wish they had never been born.
From Apollo's point of view things are very different, it started with him feeling like he was going to give a prophecy but it also felt wrong, like it was a fake prophecy which didn’t make much sense to him. He didn’t want to deliver this prophecy because it felt wrong and tried to stop himself from delivering this fake prophecy but couldn’t stop it, something was forcing him to speak this fake message into the world. Turns out that Apollo didn’t need to worry so much because as the god of both prophecy and truth his body wouldn’t let him speak this false hood into extensions. The more the something controlling him tried to force him to speak the more his body broke down until he fell unconscious.
Instead of just failing into a black void of unconsciousness like he expected he was greeted with the sight of the three fates arguing with something he recognized as Prophecy. He listened to the argument and slowly started to realize what was going on and decided to step in before the argument turned into a bigger fight that had the pental to unravel the fabric of their world. He used his own life as a bargaining chip to stop the fight, he knew that Prophecy liked him and wouldn’t like it if he was gone, and the fates needed him around or their weave would be even more messed up in the future. He stopped trying to protected himself from the damage he was getting from the others fight, used his dominion over healthing to make sure none of the other gods couldn’t interfere, and turned his power over plagues on himself to make himself fade faster to show both Prophecy and the fates that he was serious in this matter. He told them that they had to tone down the fighting and if possible make up before the world unraveled, that he would be the first to go if things continued and pointed out reasons why that would be bad.
In the end his idea sort of worked and Prophecy and the fates toned down their argument and agreed to use Apollo as a peacekeeper when more fights happened in the future since they never actually can come to an agreement on the matter. They also agreed that Apollo had too much information about what was going on that they didn’t want shared with the other gods to just be able to talk freely. They knew that Apollo knew how to keep a secret but it never hurt to have a back up plan and with Apollo’s permission they made it so Apollo was unable to share any information that they didn’t want shared. If Apollo let something spill that they didn’t want shared it just sounded like he was speaking a language the others didn’t understand. This was for the best because this way Apollo wouldn’t have to guess what he was and wasn’t allowed to talk about.
Back with the other Gods in the real world, they have come up with a last ditch effort to save Apollo. Since it was pretty clear that something was wrong with his dominion over prophecy that caused this and his dominions over healing and plagues were stopping him from being healed, someone had the idea to strip those dominions and temporarily give them to someone else in the hope that it would fix the issues. Poseidon took the power of prophecy since he held it once before, Asclepius took healing since it was similar to his own, and Artemis took plagues mainly because she wanted to be one of the people to help her brother. And to them it looked like their half baked plan worked because Apollo stopped fading and Asclepius treatment started to work.
Once things calmed down Apollo was well enough to answer questions Zeus demanded to know what just happened and why Apollo tried to make himself fade faster. Apollo had a hard time coming up with answers that he was allowed to share and that didn’t make things any better. From everyone else's point of view Apollo was affected by something, tried to die faster, and after he was saved started speaking nonsense. Poseidon was able to conform that something was indeed wrong with Prophecy and that issue short of takes the blame for what happened.
It was known that people with sight could be driven insane by what they show and they short of think that is what happened with Apollo. Their theory of what happened was that something is wrong with Prophecy and it showed him something that he wasn’t supposed to see leading to a moment of insanity. In the moment of insanity Apollo tried to fix the issue only to make it worse in his confusion and the leftover confusion is why Apollo is having difficulties with language. This theory goes down the drain when Mr. D denies the presence of madness in Apollo and Hermes calls out Apollo lie when he tries to say that he didn’t mean to make himself fade on purpose. The only real answer they were able to get from Apollo was there was an issue with Prophecy and that led to what happened and that it is more or less fixed now. All Apollo’s expansion was able to do was conform to the fact that this wasn’t an attack on Olympus. The others are still worried about his safety since you know he almost died and for some reason he isn’t telling them why he tried to die faster so until they could trust Apollo with his own safety he wasn’t allowed to have his dominions back.
In the aftermath of everything Apollo is no longer allowed to be by himself, he is to be watched by one of his siblings at all times and is more or less confined to either Olympus or Delos for a few years. The whole keeping some of Apollo's dominions from him ended up causing more issues than it solved since they didn’t like being taken from Apollo and caused their new owners many issues until they broke free and reunited with Apollo a few months after they were taken. After that fateful meeting Apollo would randomly pass out when he was being called to be the peace keep between the fates and Prophecy. Since he can’t give a reason for his black outs this makes his siblings more worried and over protective since they think he is legitly going to die one of these times he blacks out and he can’t reassure them that things are going to be ok without it coming across as a lie.
Because his siblings think that he is going to die sometime in the near future, the job of watching over him is highly sought after. They all want to spend time with the sibling they think they are going to lose and many fights have started over getting to spend time with him. Artemis has rarely left Apollo’s side since the incident has happened and all the other siblings understand and accept that she isn’t going anywhere any time soon and just do joint guard duty with her. Apollo doesn’t know how to deal with this attention because on one hand he likes that he gets to spend time with his siblings but he hates the fact that they are doing this because they think he is going to die.

This ch ending up being really long so I brock it up into two parts and will be up loading the second part same time either today or tomorrow.
Chapter 6: with the gods part 2.
Summary:
basically what has been going on with the gods since the book has started
Chapter Text
Zeus isn’t sure how to feel about because he sucks at being a father but he still cares for his children and he never thought he had to worry about losing one of his godly children much less because of one of their dominos. Add to the fact that if his son really does fade he would have to worry about the same thing happening to his brother because with Apollo gone Prophecy would go back to Poseidon and the same thing could happen to him. So Zeus does what he does best and ignores what happened and bottles up his emotions. Years later when his lighting bolt goes missing he blames his brother as a messed up way to deal with his emotions. He knows that stealing isn’t his brother’s style but he doesn’t really have any other suspects and it is so easy to blame his brother and let out his anger over the possibility of losing one of his godly children and older brother if worse comes to worse. After talking with Percy, Zeus has a bit of a wake up call and actually talks some things out with Hera since she is his wife and they are supposed to be ruling together as king and queen. It was her idea to have the unclaimed kid stay in his cabin but they both agree to keep the fact that their father might be raising to themself to avoid more panic. They have enough to worry about with the Apollo issue which still hasn’t been solved and don’t want to start even more issues just because of a demigod's words that they don’t have any proof to back up. They would keep an eye on it of course because even if they don’t have proof this isn’t something they could just ignore.
After Ares gets back into the right state of mind the first thing he does is visit Apollo to apologize for avoiding him. Apollo says that it is fine and that he just wants to make sure that Ares is ok because he noticed something weird in his aurora and that he was somehow part of a prophecy but couldn’t get a good enough read on things to see if everything was ok. Ares decides that this next part should be shared with the rest of the siblings and calls a sibling meeting, something that used to be a rarity but is now called every month or so to fight over who gets to guard Apollo and to make sure that Mr. D gets a chance to spend time with their dying sibling since he really isn’t allowed to leave camp that often and Apollo isn’t allowed to visit camp.
Ares shares his story about being influenced by their grandfather and everything that happened since (he couldn’t exactly remember the thief so they still don’t quite know who really did the crime). Apollo demands that Ares sit still while he looks him over to make sure that everything their grandfather has done to Ares is out of his system, which is lucky the case. After the quick check up the sibling goes back to talking about the important matters. Ares brings up the question of if their grandfather is the reason why there is something wrong with Apollo not really thinking he would get a straight answer but deciding to try anyway. Apollo thinks about it for a bit trying to figure out if he could even answer the question without it being nonsense before he decides that he doesn’t care and gives them an honest answer.
Apollo tells his sibling that their grandfather's raising is part of the reason and tries to explain that Hera is also partly responsible and they should really try to stop her meldering before she makes everything worse. To everyone's surprise they could understand the first part of Apollo's response, it seems that since they already know that Kronous is on the rise he could finally share some of his information. Apollo then goes on to try and explain that the fates are trying to make the first Great prophecy work even tho they don’t have have a demigod that fits the criteria to complete the prophecy and he sort of became the peacekeeper between the fates and Prophecy to stop there arguments from unraveling reality and that he could really use someone to bounce ideas off of to fix this because time is running out and he is running out of ideas on how to make things ok again. This unfortunately doesn't get across and everyone is disappointed with this outcome.
The siblings then go on to talk about other important issues like whether or not they should tell their dad what happened. They don’t want to keep important information from their father but they also don’t want their brother to be punished for something he couldn’t control. They all know how their dad can be and if they don’t have any definite proof then he might not even believe them or worse yet might accuse Ares of working with their grandfather. In the end the siblings decided to keep this to themself until they had more definite evidence. After that they decided to gossip about who they think broke the oath to father the prophecy child since all signs are pointing toward the Great prophecy being fulfilled sooner than later.
When the events of the sea of monsters roll around everyone is surprised at what happened. No one wanted Tantalus in charge of the camp; they don’t trust him with their children's safety but there isn’t much they could do about it. For some reason the high and mighty king and queen of Olympus thought it would be a good idea to have the dude who fed them his own kids was the right choice to look after their kids. The siblings just had to trust that their youngest brother could handle things and were doing their best to keep monsters away from camp without making it obvious. When Thalia came back to life everyone was surprised and a bit worried because she could be the child of prophecy and they aren’t prepared to go to war yet. On top of that the thing with Apollo gets worse since he starts passing out more and more.
Since there is now a child that fits the great prophecy the fighting between the fates and Prophecy are getting worse since the fates don’t want Thalia to be the hero. The fates still want the prophecy to be changed since they already ruled her out as an option when she turned into a tree and Prophecy doesn't see why the fates can’t just use Thalia, and are even less willing to back down than before. This new tension leads to more arguments that Apollo needs to oversee, leading him to pass out more.
So Apollo’s family 100% believes that he is going to die in the events that fulfill the great prophecy. They aren’t sure if this is because of the events themself or because of the issue with prophecy but they are sure by the time the great prophecy comes to pass Apollo will be dead. Now that they have a so-called child of prophecy they are treating him like he already lost the battle and could just pass away at a drop of a dime. It shows in how they treat him, before he could tell that they were worried, but still had hope and tried their best to keep him safe. Now it seems like they have lost their hope and are just worried about making his last moments happy ones. When Apollo requests to go spend time with Artemis and her hunt no one argues and allows it even though he is still technically under house arrest. Artemis even allows their other siblings to drop by to visit whenever they want, no questions asked.
When the events of the ttc go down Apollo is so over his family’s overprotectiveness, it was touching at first but then it just turned suffocating and he is ready for everything to be over. He explained this to his siblings and they agreed to give him some space. Their version of giving him space is to watch him from a distance ready to flash over if there's even a sign of him being in trouble but not actually being around him. Apollo knows what they're up to but sort of just gives up on getting an alone time until this while things are over and done with.
When the hunt runs into the demigods Artemis shoves Nico in Apollo’s direction because she knows he likes kids and sees this as a chance to cheer up her dying brother. When Apollo offers to take the kids to camp he has to remind Artemis that she agreed to allow him to have some space when he wishes too, and when she tries to go on the hunt alone he tells her to take Zoe with her because he would worry otherwise and she caves.
No one was aware that he let Thalia drive the sun the bus since he gave her the keys after they were already inside and since the sun is his domain no one else could really see into it. So all his siblings thought that it was him that was driving all crazy and thought he passed out behind the wheel or some else equally as bad. That is why Mr. D is so worried when they crash landed, he thought something bad had happened to his brother that could have also had a negative effect on the demigods that were riding with him.
Apollo brought up being banned at camp when he tried to leave because he was trying to use that as an excuse to leave and get out of having to deal with a worried sibling right after he got his first taste of alone time in about seven years. But he saw how worried his younger brother was and felt bad so he took this as a chance to spend time with his kids and the sibling he saw the least of.
At the big house Apollo set the record straight about not being the one driving the sun on the way back and it lesson some of the worry Mr. D had. They talk about camp and what has been going on with his kids and other random stuff that has been happening. They also talked about how his visit to camp will look like and set up a schedule for him to teach some classes.
That night Apollo sees Percy sneaking back into his cabin and decides to talk to the kid, he could tell that the Prophecy has taken an interest in the kid and he wanted to see why. At some point in the talk Apollo lets something slip that he probably shouldn’t have and is shocked when Percy could understand him. Apollo quickly leaves after that, he had too much to think about with this new development to keep up conversion.
When the oracle delivers the prophecy Mr. D is too busy stringing at Apollo wondering if his brother is acting ok or just pretending to pay attention to what she is saying. With Zoe’s calling Mr. D worry goes through the roof because he has to worry about his sister on top of everything else. The news does get back to Zeus because word has gotten around that Apollo was visiting camp and they went to go complain to him because they thought that the god was still banned. Zeus ends up confining Apollo to camp in hopes that being around the kids would distract him from the fact that his twin is in danger and keeps him from interfering with the quest.
Zeus wants his daughter to be alright and has faith that she will be, he doesn’t trust that Apollo is ok and doesn’t want to risk him being in any more danger by trying to help his sister. This of course does nothing to stop Apollo from helping the questers in the form of giving them a ride and watching the quest closely which is what saved Percy's life in the end.
At some point in all this Apollo came up with a theory about why Percy could understand him, he thinks that the kid had the potential to be a powerful prophet. Apollo figured that if Prophecy and the fates hadn’t been fighting and throwing things out of blanice for most of the kid’s life he would have grown into his skills naturally. But as it stands with all the fighting going on Percy's skill has been stunted and instead of a powerful prophet he could have been Percy just sees a bit more than the usual demigod in his dreams.
At some point after meeting Percy and before the council meeting Apollo is pulled into another fight between Prophecy and the fates but this time he had a plan on who to make peace between the two. He proposes the idea that Prophecy changes just one line of the great prophecy and exchange the fates let Percy become the powerful prophet he had the potential to become and leave him out of their plans for the future. It was a give and take on both sides, Prophecy had to give and change something but they got a new prophet to speak to. The fates get to have their plan for the great prophecy to go forward but they lose one of their favorite heroes to play with. After taking some time to think things through, both sides agree and kick Apollo back to the real world while they come up with what to change about the great prophecy.
In the real world Apollo wakes up to Chiron doing CPR on him in the big house with Mr. D looking at him in worry. Apollo is of course confused and he was told that he passed out and after he stopped breathing Chiron started to do CPR hoping that it would help, kind of forgetting that Apollo was a god and didn’t need to breathe. In all honesty they were lucky that none of the campers saw Apollo go down. After seeing this Chiron asked for answers and Mr. D looked at Apollo as if asking if it was ok to tell and Apollo just nodded, not really paying attention as he went back to checking up on the quest and his twin.
Since Apollo wasn’t really paying attention he missed the part where his younger brother told Chiron that he was dying. Chiron doesn’t know what to do with this information, he owes Apollo a great deal since the god taught him everything he knew and he never knew how to repay that debt and now he got news that he might never be able to. Chiron decided that would do everything in his power to look for a way to save the god and if he couldn’t find a way he decided that he would do his best to after the god's children and help them through the loss of their parent. Mr. D is happy that he no longer has to keep this big secret from Chiron and that can finally talk about this with someone else besides his siblings.
At the meeting when Apollo gives the new prophecy the gods are fully expecting it to be a repeat of that fateful meeting seven years ago and were prepared to zap the demigods out of there if worse comes to come. They were happily surprised to find out that wasn’t the case but were very surprised with the outcome that did happen. Never in history did a prophecy change itself and it was pretty obvious that the great prophecy changed from what it used to be to this new prophecy. When Zeus proposes the vote to kill the demigods, Apollo shoots that down fast because he really doesn’t want to deal with more fighting between Prophecy and the fates and Zeus listens because he knows that Apollo knows about most of this topic.
When it comes to the party all the gods except for Apollo split their consciousness up. Part of themselves can enjoy the party and keep up appearances while the rest of themself are continuing the meeting to talk about what the fuck just happened because unlike the demigods they understood just how impossible what just happen was and to check on Apollo. They could tell that whatever just happened took a toll on the sun god, he may have been putting up a strong face for the demigods but that the fact he didn’t split his consciousness to talk to his kids is very telling.
After that whole ordeal Apollo is exhausted, it takes a lot of energy to give a normal prophecy and apparently it takes even more energy to modify an already given prophecy. When the others find him, Apollo is ready to sleep to stay that way for the next few years, but for some reason the others aren’t having it. He tries to tell them that everything is fine and that he would explain what he could when he woke up and to just let him go to sleep but for some reason that just made the others more incessant about waking him up. Artemis started to give him some of her energy which helped him a lot in his effort to stay awake. He is beverly aware that Asclepius is there before he feels a prick in one of his arms and he finally falls asleep.
When the other gods found Apollo they noticed that he was slightly see through and close to passing out. Concerned that if they let him fall asleep they would lose him forever, they try to keep him awake. When Apollo tries to tell them that everything is fine and to just let him sleep they only part they were able to catch was him telling them to let him go. They all thought he was telling them to let him die. Artemis tries to give him some of her energy in hope that it would help while Hermes once again goes to get Asclepius. Once Asclepius got there he quickly examined his father before giving a shot of some kind. He then goes on to explain that it looked like his father used up too much energy to keep up a visual form and that shot he was given put him in a healing sleep that would help him get his energy back. He tells him that it would probably be best to put Apollo on Delos so he could absorb some of the energy form his birth place and that Apollo would only wake up once he regained enough energy to keep himself stable. This could take anywhere from a few months to a few years.
Once Artemis got Apollo settled on Delos they talk about what they think is going on with the sun god. Athena goes on to explain her idea that Kronos is behind all this, that he is trying to control the prophecy and his attempts are hurting Apollo. She thinks that in the meeting seven years her grandfather tried to completely rewrite the great prophecy in his favor but he tried to chance too much leading to Apollo almost dying, that all of Apollo's passing out was grandfathers other attempts at rigging the prophecy until to day where he succeeded in changing it. That it only worked because Thalia chose to become a hunter leaving the prophecy to be fulfilled but with no one to fulfill it. She guesses that Nico and Percy are the closed demigod that could count as kids of the big three, with Percy being a decent of Poseidon and Nico being Hades stepson.

Chapter Text
Percy goes to the school thing and meets Rachel for the second time, they exchange numbers so they could keep in contact partly because he does owe her an explanation on everything and partly because he has a feeling that staying in touch would be important. Before they separate Percy gives Rachel Annabeth’s numbers, he figures that she knows more about this stuff than he does so she should be able to give a better explanation and it would be easier for the two to talk dirty than for him to be the middleman. Since the fates and Prophecy have finally made some sort of peace Percy has gotten more prophety. He hasn’t gotten vision or anything like that yet but has been getting stronger vibes about stuff and his dreams have somehow gotten more intense. Percy just kind of puts this change down to stress and being more intune with his instinct. Apollo meant to talk to Percy about him being a prophet so he would have some warning about new powers after the meeting but he never got the chance.
On the way to camp Percy tells Annabeth about meeting Rachel and asks about her being able to see though the mist and mentions that he ended up giving Rachel her number and the reason behind it. He then asks for her phone so he could put Rachel's number in it so she would know it wasn’t some random number calling. Annabeth grumply agrees, she is sort of upset that he gave her number away to someone she doesn’t know but she gets the logic so can’t be that upset about it.
When Percy gets to camp he goes to try and find Nico only to find out that he ran away. Percy had offered Nico a place to stay since underworld kids have to stick together but it turned out that the camp had rules to follow and Nico wasn’t allowed to stay with Percy right away. While Percy was at home and Nico was at camp the two of them stayed in contact for the most part but at some point the iris messaging turned into sending letters. Nico never told Percy that he ran away from camp or why. Percy's other friends at camp that he kept in contact with either left for the fall and had no idea that Nico ran away or thought that Percy already knew so they didn’t mention it to him thinking it was a sore point.
Nico ran away from camp because he overheard a few of the other campers gossiping and the topic of his sister came up and they said some hurtful things. Nico gets upset and runs away to try and find her himself.
Percy is upset that Nico was missing from camp and that no one told him but he sort of understands once he was given the reasons and puts finding Nico on his today list. Percy tries to busy himself with camp attives while he waits for a chance to look for Nico and instead of getting iris messages updating him about Nico he has been getting dreams.
When the entrance to the maze was found in camp more options were talked about than just going on a quest. They talk about ways to destroy the entrance or even the possibility of flooding the maze with Styx water. Chiron tells the head consoles that those ideas would be ill advised. If the entrance is destroyed then a new one would just pop up nearby. Annabeth suggested going on the quest and with no other ideas everyone agrees. While Annabeth and the others on the quest it would be up to the rest of them to come up with ways to trap the entrance if worse came to worse.
The quest goes basically the same until they get to the ranch, Percy gets bad vibes from the start and as soon as he sees the people running it he knows why. He can tell that they have broken their oath to Apollo about keeping his cows safe and to Artemis about not betraying her brother. He thinks about telling everyone to get back into the maze but he has a feeling that despite everything going on Geryon’s tour would be a good thing. The tour ends with Geryon showing Bianca tied up and him turning on the questers with the talk of selling Nico. Percy decides that the best course of action would be to either activate the consequences of the broken oaths or to just tell the gods everything that has been going on and have them deal with it. Percy decided to do the latter, and prayed to the twins to tell them what was happening on the ranch. Artemis quickly comes and deals with the problem and gives Percy a quick thanks for exposing what has been happening and returning her hunter to her before leaving. The questers gain a new respect for the goddess that day and they all vow to do everything in their power to stay on her good side.
Bianca was given the option to leave with Artemis and rejoin the hunt right away but she decided against it. She was going to have very limited time with her brother and wanted to take this opportunity to catch up. Once they got out of the maze she would go back to the hunt and he would go back to camp and who knows when the next time they would see each other. She doesn’t quite regret her choice to join the hunt because this is the most she ever felt like home but she did miss her brother. Artemis respects her choice because she understands more than anyone what she is going through.
After leaving the ranch wound up in Hephaestus' workshop and were given their side quest of checking on his forge. They agree on the way Grover finds the side tunnel leading to Pan and he and Tyson split from the main group. They get to the forge and split up, they thought it would be a bad idea to have all of them going in so just Annabthe and Percy went to investigate while Bianca and Nico watched the entrance to make sure that nothing from the maze could sneak up on them. They get caught, Percy tells Annabeth that he had a plan and to leave him behind while she grabs the di Angelos and puts as much distance between them and here as possible, that he would follow as soon as he was able to.
Percy didn’t have a plan, he wasn’t anywhere close to having a plan, he just wanted Annabeth to get out of danger and for her to drag the di Angelos to safety with her while he made time for their escape. The closest thing he had to a plan was to take as many monsters out as he could and hope that maybe his blood had some other weird effect besides turning water into styx water. With the last thought Percy came up with a crazy, last minute plan, he was going to see how his weird blood affected lava. Lets just say that the two don’t mix well and the next thing Percy knows the volcano is exploding and then nothing.
With the others things aren’t going well either on the way back to Hephaestus a wall appears out of nowhere separating the sibling from Annabth. Bianca tells Annabeth to keep going so that she doesn't lose track of the spider, that she and Nico would find a different way and promise that they would meet back at camp. With a heavy heart Annabeth leaves the siblings behind. Annabeth led her first quest into the maze with four people, they picked two strays up along the way making a total of seven and now she was heading back by herself not sure if she will ever see the others again.
About week after she leaves the maze Annabeth gets an iris message form the di Angelos to let her know that they made it out and where currently with the hunt. They were making the trip to camp to drop Nico off and to be around to help out if a battle does break out. The call was short, only allowing enough time for Bianca to get the important information across before she had to go. As short as it was, the call filled Annabeth with hope, she wasn’t the only one to make it out of the maze, there could still be hope for Percy and the others. Another week passes with no word from Percy and she has to face the fact he didn’t make out.
With a heavy heart, camp half blood holds a funeral for Percy Jackson son of Styx, legacy of Poseidon, a dear friend and leader to those he left behind. His shroud is a mix of blue, sea green, and gray with a wave design to represent his homage to both the styx and the ocean. The funeral went off without a hitch but the demigods gathered couldn’t help but feel slightly disappointed and lost as they watched the shroud burn. They all knew it was impossible but they all hoped Percy could pull off another miracle and make it back, that he would pop up out of nowhere and stop the whole thing but that wasn’t the case. Percy was gone and he was never coming back. Instead of the prophecy child leading them into war he was the first loss the camp had to face.
They all heard the story of what happened last winter and knew that first blood had already been spilt but it didn’t feel real at the time. Zoe was a hunter not a camper. She didn’t spend time with them, didn’t train with them, didn’t laugh with them, didn’t share the same inside jokes, didn’t get the unclaimed kids out of Hemes cabin, didn’t put her life on the line to keep the border around camp up, like Percy had. They didn’t know her, she wasn’t one of them, so while her death was sad it didn’t hurt. But losing Percy did, it hurt so bad. They owed him a lot for what he did for camp, what he sacrificed for camp even after they gave him a less than warm welcome and couldn’t help but feel like they failed somehow. There is evidence all around camp showing how much he cares about them, hell even the fact that the camp is still standing is evidence enough, but where is the evidence that they cared about him? They have evidence of their cruelty toward him but what about their kindness? Have they done anything to show how much he means to them? Have they done anything to repay his kindness, to show that they are thankful for everything he risked for them? Had they made up for their cold shoulder in the beginning, their out right hostilely for some, had they even tried to make up for their past wrongdoings? Does Percy know that they see him as a friend and even a brother to other and not some tool to be used and thrown away? Does he know that they projected him because they care and not just because they need him? Did they ever clear the air or did they just move past all the issues without working through them?
Was the hate radiating from the creak normal for Styx water or was it some dead seeded resentment Percy held for them? For the people who he fought and bled and ultimately died for but who gave him a cold shoulder instead of a warm embrace. They look around camp and see how much Percy did for them but can’t see anything to show that it was a two way street. They see a river of hate made from his own blood that they split and can’t help but think that if the hate really was directed at them; they deserved it. For taking and taking and taking until there was nothing left to take and not once giving anything back to show how grateful they were and it made them question if they really were any better than the gods, who also took and took and took until their was nothing left to take. Some where jealous of Annabeth since they thought she didn't have to deal with these question burning in their minds until they remember she has to deal with that fact she lead her friend to his death, no one was jealous when they remembered that.
Notes:
ya 2 am brain comes up with sad stuff and it just seemed like a good spot to end, their is deff going to to be a battle of the labyrinth part 2, the next ch will be about the rest of the quest and then battle
When I said that their is evidence of their cruelty toward him, I'm talking about the minny styx they have bc was made by his blood being spilt by the ares cabin and made perminty by the hell hound attack. they also look around camp and remeber all the time Percy spend by himself, in the beginging bc they don't know how to interact with him, then becasue they where focoing on Thalia who they thought was the child of the prophecy, and then again when the prophecy changed and it was clear that the child was either Percy or nico. Even after everying Percy did to help them they were warry of him when they find out about the prophecy.
They also worry that Percy doesn't knew that they actrually care about him and not just using him. They know thing look bad but they do care and Percy has some pretty close friends at camp, that he made during his time as a year rounder but they worry that he thinks they are only his freinds because they need him around. and Percy did think that at first, he thought people were protectign him because he was holding up the border but he realized over time the his frineds care about him for him not because of his safty, not many people ever acttually apblaized for his cold welcome to camp and with Percy gone they are just thinking about all the negtive stuff that happend, forgetting the postive stuff alone the way.
Annabeth had to fight to be the some giving the speack, she had to fight claress, Pollux, and Castor over it. She only won because she went on the quest and they wherent
Chapter Text
After the funeral Annabeth tried to focus on her quest, it was still unfinished, meaning she still had work to do before she could fall apart. She does a quick deep dive into the myths surrounding the maze and finds the part about the clear sighted mortal and then remembers about Rachel. She is hit with a lot of emotions when she realizes that the answer to navigating the maze was a phone call away the whole time. If she remembered that one key detail Percy would still be here. She puts her feelings to the side and calls Rachel to see where they could meet up. There was some debate about whether or not Annabeth should go back into the maze alone with just a mortal for backup but Annabeth didn’t want to let anyone else come with her, stating the camp needed the numbers if worse came to worse. In the end Annabeth was forced to take someone with her, the winning argument was that there was the best number of people to go on the quest and pointed out how badly it was when the last few times people broke that rule and that this quest needed all the luck it could get.
Castor was chosen to go with Annabeth, the logic behind this was that he inherited his father's domain over maddess and they were going into a maze that drives people insane and that would give him an edge. Part of the reason he wasn’t chosen to begin with was because his stepmom had domain over mazes and no one was really sure how she felt about her step kids and didn’t want to risk making the quest harder if she was anything like Hera. They have since found out that she doesn’t hate her step kids and actually doesn’t mind the fact that her husband has other kids. So Castor and Annabeth go to meet up with Rachel to ask for her help and then the three of them head into the maze and immediately run into trouble.
Their first stop in the maze was the arena run by Antaeus. They are caught and Luke suggests that Castor fights in the area which Antaeus agrees too. Castor gets a slightly dangerous plan to escape and states to spread madness to everyone in the arena, making sure to shield Annabeth and Rachel. It works scarily well, with being in the maze it was like everyone was just one step away from going crazy making it super easy for Castor to drive them mad. The longer the monster was in the maze the easier it was for Castor to push them over the edge. In a few minutes after Caster unleashed the madness it was pure chaos, monsters that were affected by the madness were blindly attacking everything, friend, foe it didn’t matter. The ones that weren’t affected were too wrapped up in their fight to do anything else. Antaeus took this as an attack from Luke because one of the monsters on his side attacked first and retaliated by trying to kill Luke. Annabeth, Rachel, and Caster escaped in the chaos, everyone too busy to notice them sneaking out the back.
Rachel leads the trio to Descles workshop and they find out that it was all for nothing, that the string was already given to Luke. They hurry back to camp to warn everyone about the enviable attack that was coming. On the way they meet up with Grover and Tsyson and end up finding Pan and a ghostly version of Percy talking in a cave. The others were too shocked to really listen to what the two of them were talking about but from the little they did make out, it seemed like they were talking about death.
Percy was the first one to notice the others and gave a small wave. Annabeth instantly breaks down in tears and tries to hug him while apologizing only to go right through him. Pan starts talking again which takes attention away from Percy for a moment. Pan talks about the wild and explains that he is fading and that it was his time to go and is asking Grover to spread the word. Before Grover could give his answer, Percy asks if there is anyone else Pan to be here in his last moments. Pan pauses and thinks for a moment before saying he wanted father, Hermes, to be here so they could say one last goodbye.
Percy sends a pry towards Hermes to let him know that they found Pan and that he should be here, then waits a second and turns to the other demigods saying that maybe one of them should send it since he isn’t sure if he could send pry when he was like this. The others just have a really sad look on their face at the reminder that Percy isn’t really all there and before they could do as asked Hermes shows up. Everyone lest the father and son duo have their moment, while they politely look away and pretend not to be in the room with them. After a bit Pan goes back to saying his last words and Grover agrees to spread the news and Pan fades.
Hermes looks to Percy to give his thanks then pauses as he sees the demigods see through state and does a slight double take. Percy just shrugs and says that he is stuck not alberating farther. Grover makes a slight whimpering sound at hearing that. Hermes thanks Percy for letting him know about Pan and that he would personally lead him to the underworld if he would like. Percy makes a confused face and declines saying that it wasn’t his time. Everyone there looks at him sadly and like he is missing something very obvious but no one says anything. Hermes just tells Percy to let him know he is ready and then leaves.
Grover goes to say something to Percy but stops when Percy titles his head like he is listening to something and tells everyone that he has to go but that he would meet everyone back at camp and disappears. The others make their way back to camp and after the shock wears off Grover asks what happened. Annabeth fills Grover and Tsyson in on what happened after they were separated, she tells them that now wasn’t the time to fall apart, that they had to make it back to camp and then they had a battle to fight before they could fall apart. One the way back they are led to an on off shoot that holds Kronous and Rachel hits the titan lord in the face with the blue hair brush.
They get away and then make it camp around the same time that the hunters do and they share the info. Biance and Nico filled everyone in on what happened after they got separated from Annabeth, explained how a ghost decided to give them trouble and Nico took the title of ghost king, having gotten more of Persephone's underworld side. Then it is the questers turn to tell everyone about what happened to them. They share about the army they saw, seeing Percy ghost, Pan fading, and finding out that Kronous possessed Luke. Everyone else takes a moment to take in all that information and then the campers share what they have done to prepare for battle. The hunters start to add their own traps to the mix and work together with the camper on how best to combine their efforts.
After having Styx water in the camp for about three years the campers have gotten used to having the water around and lost a lot of their fear towards the water making some of them comfortable enough to experiment with it. When Percy was at camp he would often be dragged to the forge to help their experiments. The Hephaestus cabin and Percy were the only people who knew the full extent of the experiments done, everyone else only really knew about a project if they were helping with it. Until now, the Hephaestus cabin pulled out all the tricks in their book to project the camp including all of the finished experimental projects made with Styx water.
Between Castor driving a good portion of the enemy army mad in the maze, the experimental projects made by the Hephaestus, and the hunters showing up the camp had a way better chance than before. The battle was going well until the enemy set fire to the frost. Without Percy around there was no one to put out the fire quickly, just as the campers were starting to lose hope, a see through Percy shows up and takes control of the lake to put out the fire. Percy does his best to help out using the water and things are looking good. Eventually Grover lets out the yell of panic and the enemy reiterated and Delouslos goes to Nico to get his soul released and the maze is destroyed.
Because the camper was better prepared and had the hunters as back up no one died in the fight. The only loss camp has faced so far was Percy who they think is stuck as a ghost unaware that he is dead and that is doomed to walk the earth confused and in pain for who knows how long until he takes Hermes' offer to be taken to the underworld. Since Percy is also a part of the underworld and is specially connected to the Styx which is the border he can’t be forced to go like other ghosts Nico has dealt with since he ran away from camp. Nico did try to send Percy to the underworld after he freed Delouslos and it didn’t work. This made the camp's morale take a hit because they think the line of the prophecy, lose a loved one to fate worse than death, is talking about Percy and they all think he deserves better.
Percy is just really confused about why people are trying to tell him that he is dead. He knows things didn’t look good, but he would know if he died. He tries to set the record straight but no one is willing to listen to him, since they all think he is in denial. Eventually Percy tells them that he has to go and that he would hopefully see them soon and he wakes back up. Percy wasn’t a ghost and was just an astral, he was just interacting with them while he as asleep.
Notes:
The next ch will be about what Percy and about what has been happening on the godly side of things.
Nico still has the same power set as in canon but whenever he summons the undead they have flowers on them, he inherited her underworld side so he gets the some powers but with the added bounes of his undead being coved in flowers and vines to saw that is is Persephone power that flows though Nico and not Hades, Bianco mainly got plant powers but can some control over the dead, mainly sending back to the underworld, she can't do much more in that regeared.
The reason Nico, Bianco, and Hermes think that Percy is a ghost is because of connection to the underworld, it is hard to tell if he is alive or dead because he already feels a bit like the underworld. So they where left with context clues to fill the gabes and with Percy being see through after being thought dead makes very clear what the right answer was in their heads.
Grover thinks that Percy is dead because he can tell the Percy was very injured and then seeing him see though make him think that Percy is a ghost. He thinks the empthy link is intacted because Percy never got to the underworld and is hunging out on earth.
Chapter 9: With the god and what happened to Percy
Chapter Text
Apollo woke up from his mini coma after about six months, confused. He knows that he was tired after the meeting, that he barely had enough energy to pretend everything was fine in front of the demigods, but he doesn’t remember getting Deslo. He was pretty sure he never left Olympus after the meeting. He is even more confused when he realized that it was summer, he was just at the winter solstice meeting. He goes to find Artemis hoping that she could tell him what happened. He doesn’t have to look far, as soon as he leaves his temple, his sister greets him with a hug. Which freaks Apollo out because Artemis isn’t that much of a hugger. Something had to be really wrong if her first thought after seeing him was to hug him.
After pulling apart, Apollo questions Artemis on what happened. She explains that he used too much energy to keep a physical form and that his son put him into a healing sleep to regain his energy, that they weren’t sure when he would wake up, and that the meeting was six months ago. She then goes on to explain Athen’s theory about how their grandfather was trying to change the great prophecy leading to all the negative health effects he was facing. Artemis tells him that Ares came clean to their father about how grandfather was able to infuse him and now everyone was worried that grandfather would try to do the same to him. That it would be a mess if their grandfather managed to corrupt him. They both slivered at the thought, they both knew that Apollo could do a lot of damage if he wanted to, that he could unleash an unending plague upon the world or burn it to crisp with the heat of the sun. Not to mention how much damage he could simply with the knowingly he holds. Artemis tells Apollo that he is being confined to Delos until the war is over to avoid grandfather sinking his hooks any deeper into him.
Apollo tried to tell his sister that there was no need for that, that he wasn’t just going to sit back while his family fought in a war without him. He tried to explain what was really going on in hopes that it would convince her that everyone was worrying over nothing but wasn’t able to. Apparently it was too soon for anyone else to know that the fates and Prophecy had been fighting even though they had made a shaky peace. Artemis just tells him that this decision was final and that she took steps to make sure that he could leave and join the fight behind their backs. Apollo then asks her to leave, that if he was going to be trapped on Delso he wanted to be alone. When she hesitated to leave, he told her that her hunters needed her more, and that he really wanted to be alone for a while.
Delso is the twins sharied island, they usually have equal say in how the island is run but they can pick something they can solely control over the island, they just have to give up control over something of equal value. This causes a hassle for everyone which is why they are happy to just have equal say in everything but Artemis had to make sure that Apollo stayed on Delso and out of the fight, so she took control on who could leave the island. Meaning she had absolute power over who could leave the island, not even Apollo could leave without her saying he could. Inreturn Apollo had absolute power on who could enter the island, meaning no one could enter without his say so, not even Artems. So when she left the island to rejoin her hunt she couldn’t come back until Apollo left her, which was why she hesitated, she didn’t know when the next time she would be able to come back.
Shortly after Artemis left he could feel a prophecy being given at camp and decided that since he had nothing better to do he would watch over the quest. And he was very glad he did because he sees that Percy is one of the questers and remembered that he never got the chance to claim the kids as his prophet. Apollo thought he had finally caught a break when he negotiated peace between the fates and Prophecy only to realize how shaky that peace really was. Right now the peace agreement hinged on Percy living long enough for Apollo to claim him as a prophet and put him under his protection, which is something he didn’t think would be that big of an issue but it turned out that Percy was reckless and apparently had no regard for his own life.
Apollo saw Percy explode the volcano and nearly had a heart attack, he made sure that Percy landed on Delso so he could heal the kid and then two of them would have a talk about not doing reckless shit. None of the gods have any idea what happened to Percy after the explosion, at some point or another he just left their sight. Many just assumed that he was dead, that he either burned up in the explosion or got crushed on impact when he landed. It didn’t help that Percy was connected to the underworld and that connection made it harder to tell if he was alive or dead. Many of the gods shifted their focus from Percy to Nico since it looked like the younger kid was going to the child of the Prophecy.
After Percy was healed he and Apollo had a much needed conviction about how Percy was a prophet, how there was an issue with Prophecy and that stunted Percy's sight and with the issue more or less resolved Percy’s sight would grow and what to expect from his sight growing. They also talk about the explosion and Apollo helps with Percy’s self image issues. Percy asks how he could leave the island. Apollo tells Percy that Delso is a godly place there are different rules, and as of right now, they are both stuck on this island until Artemis lets them leave. Percy asks why Apollo just doesn’t ask Artemis to let them go, leading to a brief explanation of how the issue with Prophecy had impacted his health leading to his sister to be overprotective even though the issue is fixed. He explained that with Percy being his prophet some of Artemis' overprotectiveness would probably extend to him and wouldn’t let him leave until she knew that he wasn’t going to do something reckless to get himself killed.
Percy thinks that is kind of fair given how he just blew up a volcano and moves on to ask how long he has been here and if there was anything he could do to prove that he wasn’t going to do anything reckless on purpose. Apollo says that Percy has been here about three weeks, that it turns out that Percy never fully healed from exhaustion of holding up the camp border and holding up the sky just made things worse for his body. Apollo healed most of the damage Percy got from holding the sky last winter but he was on time limit and always meant to go back and look for anything he mixed but never got the chance before that. Those two issues combined with exploding a volcano left Percy with a lot of issues that needed to be healed, leading to Percy’s three week healing coma. He also explained that they have to wait and see if Percy gained any permanent damage, right now it was too early to see if Apollo could heal all the damage Percy has done to himself over the last few years. Apollo explained that he wouldn’t even think about helping Percy leave the island until he knew for sure Percy was in the clear, or if worse came to worse, that he knew how to take care of himself with his new disability.
Percy tries to talk Apollo into helping leave by bringing up his quest but Apollo just reisures Percy that Annabeth has it handled, that she called Rachel and is already back in the maze. Percy is still tired after everything and gives up for now in favor of getting some sleep, and his dream takes him to Pan. The two of them end up talking and the quester shows up shortly after. Annabeth tries to hug him, but goes through him instead, Pan starts talking about his death, Percy asks him if there was any he wanted to be there. Percy prays to Hermes about what is going on and he remembers that he is dreaming and might not be able to pray to any gods. Hermes comes, then Pan fades and Hermes is looking at Percy weirdly. Percy thinks that his explain of being stuck makes perfect sense, he is stuck on Delos and couldn’t be their in person, Hermes then says something about taking him to the underworld which was kind of weird but they just talking about death a moment again so Percy doesn’t really question it that much. He tells the others that he would meet them at camp because he will make it camp evential, it might take him a while but he will get back.
Percy wakes up and tells Apollo about his dream, they talk about some more everything and make some plans to get both of them off the island. Percy goes back to sleep and dreams about the battle at camp and really wants to help and tries to move the water in the lake. To his surprise it worked, and after that realization Percy joins the battle with the lake as his weapon. When the battle was over and he had a chance to the other campers he realized that they all thought he was dead, he tried to tell them that he was fine but it was obvious that he wasn’t believed. Percy can tell that he was walking up and gave his goodbyes. Again he tells Apollo what happened, including the fact that everyone, even Nico and Biacna, thought was dead, and wrote him off as being there as a visit from beyond the grave. Apollo explained to Percy that having a connection to the underworld would have made it hard to tell if he was alive or not and showing up as a see through figure just screamed ghost. The two of them sat in silence for a second before Percy asked if Hermes thought he was a ghost too, and Apollo just facepalmed and told Percy that Herms literally offered to escort him to the underworld.
During the next few months the two of them got into a routine, in the morning Apollo would check up on Percy’s health, then they would train together, in the afternoon they would relax and make plans for the future. A lot of their planning was just coming up with arguments to use against Artemis in hopes of being able to leave. Apollo has tried to talk Artemis into letting them leave but failed, multiple times. She not letting Percy leave because she thinks that having Percy there is helping Apollo, she knew that having prophets and oracles takes some of the stress of holding Prophecy off his shoulders and doesn’t any of Apollo’s progress to back slide if he loses his only prophet in this day and age.
Percy would sometimes visit camp in his dream, he takes this chance to visit with his friends and tries to convince them that he isn’t dead but they all still think he is in denial and will take this chance to try and talk him into asking Hermes for help finding the underworld. Percy would visit his mom sometimes but she actually listened to him and believed that he wasn’t dead, she also tried to tell the others but they also thought that she was in denial. Percy would also visit Hermes semi-regularly and the two of them sort of become friends, but Hermes still believed Percy was dead and kept offering to talk him to the underworld. Percy kept denying that he was dead, but the god just thought that the denial just ran deeply in his ghostly friend.
As the war drew closer, Apollo and Percy were more deserit to leave Delos, they wanted to help with the war effort. They didn’t like the fact that their friends and family would be fighting while they were stuck here in a safe little buble. Evential Apollo calls Artemis to make a deal, that he would swear on the Styx not to leave Delos until after their grandfather was defeated or unless he was called into action by one of the other olympians if she let Percy go. She agrees and they call Hermes to take Percy back to camp. Hermes was in for a surprise to find out that his ghostly friend wasn’t in denial and was really alive but stuck on Delso this whole time.
When Percy gets back to camp he has to explain how he is alive, what took him so long to get here, and why he got claimed as Apollo’s prophet. So after around hugs, and punches, Percy explains everything that he was able to. Afterwards some people were looking at the Apollo cabin to see if they knew any of this, and they explained that they knew something has been wrong with Prophecy for a while, that when the issue started Apollo checked in with all his kids to see if any of them were affected as well, but asked them to keep this to on the downlow to avoid panic. They said that they agreed, and kept their dad’s secret but made it so to offer more sacrifices in their fathers name as a way to support him. After sharing this bit of information it looked like an invisible weight had been taken off the Apollo cabin’s shoulders. From that day forward, the Apollo cabin has been acting like Percy’s body guards, when asked they would tell everyone that it was their duty as child of Apollo to protect their dad’s prophet.
Percy hated the fact that he wasn’t able to help out camp while he was on Delos so instead of going home he stayed at camp to help them with the war effort. He got back to camp at the end of June so they still had a bit before his 16th birthday in August but there was a lot to do in so little time. Percy did go home to visit his mom on occasion but he was staying at camp full time to help out, he helped forge weapons with styx water, and gave any information he got from his dreams/vision to head consoles to make plans with. He would have gone on raids with the other cabins but his Apollo cabin bodyguards were not having it and Chiron agreed that Percy’s efforts were best spent at camp.

Chapter Text
With Percy at camp and everyone knowing that there is something wrong with Apollo, the fallout between Ares' cabin never happens. Percy is there to keep the peace and everyone is willing to give cabin seven more grace over things since they are dealing with more stuff than anyone else. Again Percy was mainly kept at camp, helping in the forges, and with the planning side of things until the Princess Andromeda mission. Since they were planning to sink a boat everyone thought the best chance of success was to have the legacy of Poseidon go with Beckendorf. It was during this mission that they learned for sure that Luke took a swim in the styx. Before this Percy never got a chance to take a close look at Luke but now Percy was close enough to feel his mother’s blessing on Luke’s skin. Percy felt a bit of betrayal that his godly mother would bless his enemy, it hurt to think about it even though he knows that this is just as much as a curse as it is a blessing. He could feel the blessing sitting on Luke’s skin, protecting his enemy from all harm, except in one spot. Percy could feel Luke's mortal point, it felt like a gaping hole in his mother’s presents.
During their fight Percy was able to slightly hit the mortal point, Kronos wasn’t expecting anyone to know where the moral point was and was surprised when Percy went straight for it, letting Percy hand the slightest of hits, before getting thrown away. Percy wasn’t able to kill Kronos but any injury to the mortal point, even a very slight small one, was enough to bring Kronos to knees. Seeing their invincible leader on their knees put everyone in a state of shock switch Beckendof took advantage of. He was brought on deck just in time, Percy got thrown and Kronos brought to his knees. He got away from his guards, who were too shocked to stop him to grab Percy and jump overboard. The water helped heal Percy's injuries and two of them were able to put some distance between them in the boat before Beckendorf set off the explosives but they were still injured and separated in the fall out. Beckendorf ended up drifting close enough to camp to be spotted and taken to the infirmary while Percy sank to the bottom of the ocean and stayed there until the water healed him enough to move. It took about two days before Percy could drag himself back to camp.
After getting back to camp he was dragged to the infirmary to get looked over, before they held a war meeting. At the meeting Percy fills everyone in on what happened on the mission (Beckendorf was in coma and couldn’t fill the other in) and the few dreams he had while he was recovering. It is in this meeting that Silena comes clean about being the spy, she just couldn’t deal with the guilt anymore. This of course caused an uproar, they didn’t know what to do with her, it was close enough to the battle that they couldn’t demote her without causing a mess, but they also didn’t exactly trust her after learning that she was a spy. They ended up putting off the decision on what to do with her until after the battle after she took an oath on the styx that she was on their side and would put her life on the line for Olympus.
After the meeting, Percy leaves to talk to Nico and to find Grovor. Nico talks about Percy taking up the curse of Achilles so he could be on equal footing with Kronos, but Percy declines. He tells Nico that he knows where Kronos' weakness is and saw first hand how having the curse makes you weak and he needs to be at his best if he wants a chance to survive this. Nico ends up dropping the topic and they continue the search for Grovor. After waking Grovor up, Percy asks Nico to go to the underworld and try to get his parentis to help out. Nico reluctantly agrees and Grovor and Percy head back to camp. Once at camp, the two of them help load the supplies and head to Olympus to set up shop.
Even now cabin seven wants one of their own to watch over Percy. They know that stuff happens in battle and that not everyone gets to make it back but they want to do their best to make sure that Percy lives through the battle. Michael was chosen to basically be Percy's bodyguard by his siblings, he would do his best to follow Percy and offer his support from a distance and offer healing when needed. When Hermes gives his message, Michael is there and was given a message as well. Apollo has given all his kids permission to use any of his godly arrows they find on the battlefield. When asked to clarify Hermes explains that while Apollo is stuck on Delos he was still helping the fighting as best he could and left.
Apollo may be trapped on Delos but that doesn’t mean that he couldn’t help fight against Typhon or the rest of the titan army. While the rest of the gods are fighting Typhon in person, Apollo previds cover with his arrows. His arrows might not do that damage against Typhon but they helped distract him for the other gods to either get a hit in or give them time to dough an attack. Apollo enchanted some of his arrows to be able to heal and made it land next to someone injured, and the god in question would sense the healing magic in the arrow and use it to heal themselves. At some point during the fight Apollo askes Hermes to bring him some of Typhon’s blood. Hermes doesn’t really ask questions and just takes a quick trip to Delos to give Apollo one of his used arrows covered in Typhon’s ichor, Hermes knows that someone's blood could be used in many different cures.
Throughout the years, as humans made more and more things, some of the gods either learned from the humans or took inspiration from them. Apollo was one of those gods, he wanted Typhon’s ichor to see if he could make a plague that would only affect Typhon. Usually when Apollo unleashed a plague it ran wild, affecting everyone, not just his target, but Apollo watched as human’s did research on genetic disorders and other things involving DNA. Apollo started to wonder if he could key a plague into someone's blood or DNA. Now Apollo wondered if he could do the same thing with gods even though they didn’t have DNA. Eventually Apollo cracked the code and made a plague that would only ever affect Typhon and started to coat his arrows with it. The Plague helped slow Typhon down but his healing ability was so strong that Apollo’s plague arrow only had an effect for about an hour before he would heal the plague from his ichor. But slowly the effect of being hit by plague arrow after plague arrow was starting to slow down Typhon healing, and the others were able to start landing hits that did more lasting damage.
When the war in Manhattan broke out, Apollo split his attention. He was providing cover fire for the two different fights. He did his best to pick out the more dangerous monster in the titan army before they could pick a fight with the demigods, while still keeping an eye on the fight with Typhon. When he saw Hermes leaving to send word to the demigods he asked his brother to give a message as well. Apollo saw no harm in his kids using his arrows in the fight, they were already on the battlefield, anyone but his kids who try to take any of his arrows would be burnt to a crisp so it wasn’t like he was giving the enemy weapons, and it would give his kids an edge that would hopefully let them make it out alive.
Michael spreads the word to the rest of his siblings and they keep an eye out for their father’s arrows. They end up making it a competition, whoever found the most at the end of the battle would be declared the winner and would be given a prize of their choosing. This was just extra insureines for the siblings that everyone would try their best to make it out alive, after all you can’t win if you’re dead.

Chapter Text
With Ares’ cabin being in the war to start with, Silena doesn’t die to the darken, but a little later on in the fight Clarisse takes a hit meant for her and dies. Silena was saved but her staying alive doomed Clarisse. She saw the hit coming and knew that Silena wasn’t going to react fast enough and put herself between her friend and danger knowing that it would cost her her life. Silena meant so much to Clarisse that even after finding out that her friend was a spy Clarisse still chose to save her even after knowing what the cost was. The loss of their sister and head counselor lead the rest of Ares cabin to a rage and they all gained their father's blessing and they demolished the enemy. They couldn’t bring their sister back but they could make the enemy pay for taking her from them. The enemy would regret taking Clarisse from them, all of Ares’s cabin would make sure of that.
One of the experiments done with Styx was to see if they could make something to show when someone died. After Percy came back from Delos the campers wanted a way to know for sure if one of their own was missing or dead, because what happened to Percy showed them that they can never really know for sure. They wanted a way to avoid grieving over a friend that was still alive and after trial and error they found a way. By mixing someone's blood, Styx water, and a few other magic ingredients the campers found a way to enchant an object to show how close to death someone was. All they needed to do was pure the styx mixture on an object and then the object would glow brighter the closer the person whose blood was mixed income to death. They didn’t really have a foolproof way to test this before the war, but between Percy, Nico, and a close call someone had on a raid they were confident that their mixture would work.
Everyone at camp gave blood to use for a mixture and requested for different things to be enchanted. A rock was added to everyone's batch of enchanted objects to put in the infirmary, so the healers would know who needed the most help. Everyer camper ended up with two bracelets, one with beads for their cabin members and the other with beads for close friends. Since Percy didn’t have any cabin members he had one bracelet for close friends and another with beads from everyone in camp. As head of the infirmary Lee had three bracelets, one for his siblings, one for close friends, and one for everyone in camp. This was so he could know who needed help without needing the rock collection back at camp.
So the demigod could see in real time as their siblings and friends were cut down in battle. They could see as more glowing beads were added to their bracelets who needed their help and who it was too late to help. When Clarisse was cut down her bead started glowing letting everyone that cared about her know she passed on. All her siblings had their first glowing bead and they raged for the sister they lost. It didn’t matter if they saw what happened, they had their beads so they knew what happened, allowing them to all go into a rage at the same time even though they were scattered around the battlefield helping other cabins. The beads were a blessing and a curse, you had proof that the people you cared about were ok but you also had proof that they were gone.
Lee was cut down and Will was promoted to the head healer, the camp bracelet was collected from Lee’s body and handed to Will to go with his promotion. The Apollo cabin joined the Ares in their rage at the loss and left plague arrows fly in their anger. Before the war broke out the Apollo cabin gave everyone a vaccine for all the sickness they could make. They didn’t want to unleash plagues because that would run the risk of getting their army sick but they knew that they needed all the tools they could use if they wanted to win this war. It would be a last resort to limit the risks but they also knew as soon as they lost one of their siblings they wouldn’t care about the risks and let anger cruse their weapons with plagues. It was best to vaccinate the campers before the war to avoid accidentally curing their army, it turned out to be in vain, in their anger and grief they created new sickness to tear through the enemy. It was only because their father was watching over that their new sickness didn’t affect anyone one on their side. Apollo was able to upgrade the demigods vaccine to include the new diseases, he couldn’t do anything to protect the mortals that were caught in the crossfire.
Pollux and Castor went out together, it was only fitting, they came into the world together and they left it standing side by side. Unlike Clarisse and Lee they didn’t have any other cabin members to go into a rage on their behalf. It was the two of them, it had always been just the two of them. They were different from the other demigods at camp, it was hard to make friends at times since there was underlying jealousy about their dad staying at camp. Having their father around set them apart from the other campers making it seem like there was an invisible wall between them and the others. Percy was the first one to break through that invisible wall, he was different too and understood what it was like. The three of them got close over the years, becoming like brothers and slowly the invisible around them disappeared and they gained more friends around camp. So while they didn’t have siblings to spread madness and vines on their behalf they had Percy to rage at the world for taking them away. They may have been alone in their cabin but that didn’t mean they didn’t have another brother, their only regret about going out together is the fact that they would be leaving their younger brother alone. It had always been the two of them but for the last few years it had been the two of them plus Percy. They almost wished it stayed just the two of them, they wouldn’t feel as guilty for dying if they never gained another brother.
Pollux was killed instantly but Castor had a bit of time before his injuries killed him and the last thing he did was pray to their father. He told their dad that Pollux was dead and that he would soon follow, he apologized for the fact that neither of them would be going home and he asked him to look after Percy. Castor told Dionysus that Percy was younger brother and someone had to look out for him now that both of his older brothers were gone. He rambled a bit about how the Apollo would probably have it covered but never hurt to have more people looking after his troublesome little sibling. He told his father that he wanted the two of them to be there for each other when this whole thing was over, that was the last thing Castor got out before he joined his twin in the afterlife. Dionysus got his son’s pir and raged, he threw any plan out the window and attacked Typhon recklessly, lost in grief of losing his only demigods. This didn’t last long and he was quickly thrown to the side and was badly injured making him put effort into his recovery before he could get up again.

Chapter Text
The battle went on, more glowing beads joined the ranks of the fallen, leading more demigods into a grief filled rage. The enemy was pushed back, unable to match the power of a grief family, but that only lasted so long. Eventually the demigods started to lose their steam and they were cornered at the empire state building. It looked like this would be the end, that all their loss would be for nothing until Nico, Hades, and Persephone showed up as their back up. The extra manpower was used to hold off the rest of Kronos' army while the final battle was being held in the throne room.
Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and Michael were the only people standing in Kronos' way. Percy was the person who was fighting Kronos up front and personally, Grover and Michael were providing cover from a distance with nature magic and arrows. Annabeth was too busy keeping Ethen out of the fight to really be much help against the Titan. After some talking Ethen changed sides and went for a sneak attack against Kronos and got thrown off Olympus for his efforts. Annabeth was able to join the fight with the others and started to plead for Luke to take control. She knew that her friend was in there somewhere and didn’t want things to end this way.
Annabeth brings up their promise and shows Luke her knife was a reminder and it seems like it worked. His eyes are blue not gold and Annabeth hands her knife to Luke, trusting that he would be the right thing. Percy is off to the side with a broken ankle trying to take Annabeth out of giving her knife to Luke, but she didn’t listen. Luke takes the dagger and uses it to attack her, Annabeth may not have listened to Percy and Grover did. Grover was slowly moving to the two of them trying not to draw attention to himself while hoping he could get there fast enough to stop Annabeth from making a mistake. Grover wasn’t fast enough to stop her from handing the dagger over but he was fast enough to shield her from the blow.
Annabeth couldn’t believe it, Luke tried to kill her, Luke killed Grover! His eyes were blue, she couldn’t even pretend that Kronos was the one who did this, those eyes were Luke’s and his alone. She made a choice and it was the wrong one, Percy tried to warn her but she didn’t listen. She was so sure that she was right and didn’t listen to what Percy was trying to tell her about Luke. She was in shock but Percy was saying something. She forced herself to listen to what he was saying, she wouldn’t make the same mistake twice. Annabeth listened to Percy as he told her to use her dagger on Luke. She didn’t question the order, she trusted that Percy knew what he was doing, and stuck Luke in the chest with her dagger while Kronos was monologuing. There was shock on his face and asked how before passing on. The fates collected the body right away, before any of the gods came back to the throne room.
Machael was doing everything in his power to keep Percy alive, between the injuries Percy got in the war and his connection to Grover snapping Percy was barely alive. It was a miracle that he had enough strength to talk after Grover passed to tell Annabeth what to do. He feared that only godly intervention could save Precy now, so he prayed. He prayed to his father for help, he prayed to his godly siblings for any help they could, he needed all the help he could get in order to heal the effects of empathy link breaking. While Machael is desperately trying to save Percy, Annabeth numly takes the moonlace, Grover reincarnated into the gardens to be planted. She knew that Percy would want to be there, but she didn’t want Grover to suffer while she waited for Percy to wake up when there is a high chance he never will. She did a lot of research on empathy links and accepted the fact that if she lost one of her friends she would be losing both of them years ago.
She was making revisions to her speech from Percy’s last funeral in her head while she planted so she could be prepared to burn his shroud for a second time. She knew that she should be feeling something but she is just numb to the world, nothing felt real at the moment. Annabeth knew that everything would catch up to at some point and her world would be crashing down around her, but for the moment she welcomed the numbness. It was a welcome break compared to reality. Her numbness lasted until Thaila made her way to the throne room, the moment that she laid eyes on her older sister Annabeth break down.
With Kronos defeated, the enemy army attacking Atlantis lost their confidence and quickly followed. Poseidon took a moment to recover before heading to the surface to help in the fight against Typhon. With the extra man power, Poseidon and Demeter provided Typhon was beaten, and Apollo was summoned to heal injuries now that the danger was over. Apollo split his consciousness into three pieces, one to heal the gods, one to focus on healing Percy, and one to heal the other injured demigods. The god didn’t go back to Olympus right away, they took some time to recover from their fight, they wanted to put on a strong face in front of their kids and couldn’t do that if they had obvious untreated injuries. They all knew that their kids have gone through hell, wanted them to know that they are here to pick up the pieces. They couldn’t do that if it was obvious that they were barely holding things together.
When the god went back to Olympus they split up into different groups. The ones that had any sort of medical knowledge went to help Apollo heal the wounded, others helped out clearing away some of the damage, while the rest looked for the bodies that needed to be collected. They wanted to save their kids from the pain of preparing the dead for burial, they were the parents it was on them to lay their kids to rest. The burden shouldn’t be placed on the kids, they have already been through so much.
After the injured were healed to the best of everyone's abilities, and the dead were tallied, a funeral was held for those who fell in battle. The glowing rocks were moved from the infirmary and were made into a memorial to honor the fallen. It was beautiful as it was sad. The bright glow from the memorial was a reminder of who they lost, each glowing a unique color that made it impossible to mistake who they were connected to. The color was just so them that the idea of it being connected to someone else was laguable.
Two weeks after the end of the war everyone was called up to Olympus for rewards to be handed out. Everyone was given something from the parents as a way to show that they were grateful that they made it out alive. The cabin heads were given a bigger reward for acting as leaders in the war. Annabeth, Percy, and Michael were given gifts from the Olympian council since they were the ones to face Kronos head on. Annabeth got a chance to rebuild Olympus, Percy was offered godhood, which he refused and used his wish to make the gods pay attention to their kids and treat the minor gods better. Michael was given a special bow and a job opportunity. After they had the rewards there was a party to celebrate their win, it was a chance to relax and take their minds off everything that just happened.
Percy didn’t feel like partying at the moment, he was stuck in a wheelchair for the time being so dance was out of the question for him even if he wanted to join. He stayed at the edge of the room listening to the music and watching the others have fun until something occurred to him and he waved Annabeth over. He asks her to show him where she planted Grover, instead of telling him, she grabbed his wheelchair and took him to the place. Percy took two clippings of the moonlace, one to be planted back at camp besides Juniper’s brush and another to be planted back at his apartment.
After the party everyone came back to camp to find Rachel had become the new oracle. The curse that Hades placed on her disappeared with the camp's acceptance of demigods of the underworld and their willingness to make him a cabin. Their good mood is ruined by her giving the prophecy of seven and only got worse when Percy gave his own prophecy. Percy's prophecy seemed to be about how the seven would be and about some choice that needed to be made that dictated when the prophecy of seven was going to happen. Apollo comes to check on his prophet and oracle after feeling the prophecy be given. He tried to reassure the demigod that everything was fine but it fell flat, everyone heard the prophecy, war would grace their doorstep again. It sounds like it would either happen in a year or a century and the choice that decided when would be happening in a few months.

Chapter 13: The aftermath of the war on the demigod side
Notes:
this is the second update down today
Chapter Text
In the aftermath of everything, Beckendorf woke up a day after the war with memory issues, slight brain damage. He has no idea who Silena is or what she meant to him. He just has the vague impression that they used to be close. For being a spy Silena was stripped of her title of head cabin member, leaving Drew to fill the position. There is tension between the Ares cabin and the Aphrodite cabin since many people blamed Silena for Clairsse’s death or thought she wasn’t worth their sister’s sacrifice. Silena isn’t banished from camp but some people, mainly the Ares cabin, are being cold towards her making her feel unwelcome. She told everyone that she would leave after camp was stable again and wont connect anyone unless they reached out first.
Annabeth and Percy's friendship took a hit because she blames herself for Grovers death and could look him in the eye without feeling guilty. He warned her not to give Luke the dagger but she didn’t listen leading to Grover dying in her place. She has a case of survivor's guilt that flares up whenever she's around Percy and has to see how losing Grovor is affecting him. Annabeth is torn between throwing herself at Percy's feet begging for forgiveness for letting her pride get the best of her and avoiding Percy at all cost so she doesn’t have to see the damage she helps cause. This leads Annabeth into throwing herself into work, keeping herself so busy that she doesn’t have to think about what happened.
Rachel was given her own place at camp and made fast friends with the Apollo cabin. She and Percy become better friends while they figure out their roles as oracle and prophet together. Percy teaches her how to wield a sword on his good days and Rachel teaches him how to paint. Percy makes her a bracelet and it is the first time Rachel truly feels welcomed at camp. Michael was officially given the title of the future guard, meaning he became the official bodyguard for both Percy and Rachel. He mainly used this as an excuse to hang out with the two of them, saying he had important business to attend to before crashing a gossip session between the oracle and prophet. He taught Rachel how to use a bow, he made an attempt to teach Percy thinking Percy would have improved since he now had a connection to Apollo. Michael was wrong, Percy is still terrible with a bow and had seemingly gotten worse, something people didn’t think was possible.
Michael and Will share the responsibilities of being cabin head. Will was the better healer so he was incharge of the infirmary and Michael was incharge of the archery range. When a meeting was called they would show up and make decisions about their cabin together. They were both happy that they didn't have to do this alone. Lee left big shoes to fill and they both felt better sharing the burden of filling them then having to do it alone. This turned into a common theme, around camp and cabins ended up with two head campers more often than not. For example Ares cabin replaced Clairess with Mark and Cameron, Hermes cabin has been led by the Stoll brothers for years now, Malcolm has been officially appointed the second head camper for Athen cabin. He has been acting as an unofficial second head camper since Annabeth got kidnapped. The new cabins being built straight up appointed two people to lead them if they have the numbers.
Percy was left with permanent damage and would randomly pass out. He wasn’t allowed to do anything by himself for the moment, they all wished that Percy's condition would lessen over time because they see this as a death sentence if he ever went out of the safety of camp. Mis O’ Leay was trained to become Percy’s service dog and was given a collar to change her size so she could go into buildings. Everyone was worried about him since he lost almost everyone he considered his siblings, they treated him as someone who lost most of their cabin in the war. He lost Pollux, Castor, and Grover who everyone knew he considered his brothers and he lost Clarisse who might as well have been his sister even if the two of them never admitted it. The only “sibling” he had left was Nico who spent his time in and out of camp. No one felt comfortable letting Percy stay in his cabin all alone so he was forced to split his time between the Apollo cabin and the Hermes cabin.
The Stolls basically adopted Percy, they felt like they owed him a lot. He was the one that did something about cabin 11 overcrowding. They always meant to thank him for that but then Luke happened and they didn’t think their friendship would be welcomed. But they saw how Percy handled the minor gods that fought against them after the war and felt like they wouldn’t be pushed away over the similarities they share with their traitorous brother. They reach out and as soon as their friendship was established they become some of the people who were most overprotective of Percy. They fought Machael and Will over having Percy stay in their cabin, a times table was made to keep track of when Percy was staying in each cabin.
Most people at camp stayed at camp over the winter that year. They needed time to heal and rebuild and that was best done together with people that understood exactly what they were going through. Therapy was mandatory for everyone to go, no one got out of it, not even Nico who tried to shadow travel away when it was time for his appointment. Nico was in and out of camp that winter, saying that he had to run some errands for his mother and step father. When asked if wanted to help getting out of them Nico declined saying that he actually likes the work. People left him after that, but Katie and Percy would check in with the kid to make sure he wasn’t over working himself.

Chapter Text
Prophecy and the fates have reached an agreement so Apollo hasn’t passed out since he gave the updated great prophecy. Things are still slightly tense between the two groups since there is the giant war to think about. Hera put the world on a path to complete the second giant war sooner than later and the odds are high that Percy would get wrapped up in it if it happened during the prophets lifetime. Lucky that goddess hasn’t reached the point of no return yet and the fates could crouse correct with Prophecy help. So Prophecy has Percy say their warning letting Hera know that it wasn’t too late to go back; the second war didn’t have to happen until much later but only if she let laying dogs lay. If Hera still chooses to go through with her plan, they have a nasty fate insured for her. The severity of the goddess punishment for taking fate into her own hands varied depending on how much she involved Percy. The fates might have allowed her to melt but that caused them so many problems they decided to punish her as payment for the headache her melting caused.
Apollo is so tired of everything and just wants this whole mess to be over with, they are so close to being in the clear, all Hera needs to do is mind her own business and the giant war will be pushed off to the next century. He makes sure Percy’s prophecy is spread and makes sure that everyone knows that the person responsible for making that choice is a god. Apollo might not be able to say who will be responsible without his words turning into nonsense but everyone got the message with how much he was glaring at Hera. So all of the gods know to blame the queen if another war broke out so soon after the first one.
Hera for her part ways the pros and cons of continuing with her plan before deciding to continue them. This was the strongest group of demigods they have had in centuries, they already proven their strength and willingness to fight. She thought it was better to get the second war over with now when she knew the demigods were strong enough to handle war then put it off for the future when the quality of demigods could go down again. She thought that this was the best option to protect her family and home and proceed with her plan, deciding that she would deal with the consequences that come her way.
Sometime after the award ceremony Styx pays a visit to Zeus, to tell him that his time is almost up and soon she will be allowed to make him pay for his broken oaths. That at some point during her child life Zeus will be sectines to 30 years a mortal. Zeus asks why so long since he only broke two oaths on her waters not three and Styx says its because he has been breaking the same oaths for too long. He keeps rebreaking his oath to be a faithful husband and to be a good king and she's tired of it. She is taking this chance to teach him a lesson, so she added 5 years for being a bad king and another 5 for being a bad husband making his senties 30 years instead of 20. Zeus couldn’t do anything but accept his punishment. It wasn't like he could fight Styx, he did the crime and now he was to do the time. As a god of justice he knew how important it was to punish the guilty, he may not be called upon to enact justice anymore but it is still part of his domain and he wouldn’t run from it.
He closed down Olympus so he could prepare things for when he turned mortal. He thinks this will be happening in a matter of months because knows that it will be happening during Percy’s lifetime and demigod lives are even short, when they are in full health and Percy has gained a disability after the war so it seems like he wasn’t long for this world. Zeus also hoped that by closing Olympus he could keep Hera here, and stop her from poking her nose where she shouldn’t and start a second war. He knows how his wife thinks and wants to keep her busy or at least away from the mortal world so she won't put anything into motion that can’t be taken back.
The only gods that were allowed to leave Olmpus were Apollo, Poseidon and Hermes. Apollo had an oracle and prophet he had to look after, he needed to be available to answer their questions and get any new information they could provide. Apollo also had to be around to clean up the plagues that were ravaging the world. When Artemis was holding the domain, it didn’t like being in her care and fought with her constantly before getting away and back to Apollo. While trying to get away a new plague was unleashed in the world, at first it wasn't a big deal, it affected animals not people so it was harder to notice. The domain was so upset for being in Artemis' care it went after the animal she hunted as a way to get back at her for being taken away from Apollo. It was all fine until some mortal ate an infected animal and got sick.
The disease didn’t do much to the animals since they were under a god's protection but it did a lot to the humans. When humans started to get affected Apollo was trapped on Delos and had other things to worry about so he didn’t realize until it turned into a much bigger problem. After the loss of Lee, the rest of cabin seven anger let them summon the new plague and mutate it so it was even more dangerous and able to affect monsters as well. The mist covered up the titan war by letting everyone think New York had a covid outbreak. The demigods are staying in the bubble of safety so they have no idea that the world is on lock down, or that covid is a thing. So Apollo is too busy dealing with covid to pay as much attation to Hera as he wanted, but on the bright side he is no longer under house arrest.
Most of the concern shifted from Apollo to Poseidon since he was hit the hardest during the war. Having demigods is important, because they aren’t bound by the same rules the gods are. With Poseidon not having a demigod to call his own, the war was harder on him. The enemy attacked him first, he didn’t have back up, none of the other gods could help fight in the oceans and would be more of hindrance than a help if they tried. Without a demigod to have as a wildcard the enemy felt way braver in their attack on the sea god. Everyone knew about Percy and his connection to Poseidon but unlike the gods on land they recognized that Styx had the most claim on the demigod and understood it overshadowed Poseidon’s claim. They all know that Percy wouldn’t come to Poseidon aid because he had almost no reason too, he was Styx first and Posedion’s second. They could attack as much as they wanted knowing that they wouldn’t have to fear a wildcard showing up, it made it much easier for them to gain allies to join in the fight with the sea god. They were so busy in their own war that they couldn’t spare anyone to help Percy while he was injured and afloat in the ocean. When Kronos was defeated the army lost their confidence, this was supposed to be an easy win but they have been fighting for years at this point and their main backer just lost. They also knew Percy was free to join the fight, he defeated Kronos and finished his duties as the son of Styx in the war, Poseidon was free to call upon his descendant to wage his war if he so wished.
When Poseidon showed up to fight with the other olympians everyone saw how injured he was and Zeus was one really close to ordering Poseidon away from the fight since it is very clear that his brother has been through a lot and needs to heal. Poseidon is allowed to come and go from Olympus as he pleases since he has his own kingdom he needs to look after and he will heal better in the oceans. He is only called up to Olympus for the important matter and is otherwise left alone when it comes to business. For personal matters his family is constantly checking in with him to make sure that is ok and is healing well. He is quickly getting tired of this and feels bad for Apollo because he has been dealing with this treatment for years. Every so often Poseidon would redirect the concerned family back to Apollo by reminding them that his nephew's issue still isn’t fixed because he will still talk nonsense at times. He doesn’t know that Apollo has been doing the same thing. When some tries to act overly concerned about him he would point them in his uncle's direction saying that he is mostly healed, pointing out that he hasn’t passed out once since the war has truly started and that his uncle is freshly injured and is more indeed of their support.
Hermes is allowed to leave because the underworld needs his help to gather the souls of the dead. So many people are dying to covid that they can’t have one of their people take a break. Hermes is allowed to slack on his messenger duties and fully focus on his job as a soul guid. So his messenger duties are put on hold until Apollo could get the plague under control and the world could go back to normal.
Dionysus was taking the lock down as a chance to grieve his sons before he went back to camp. He lost his only demigods and needed a chance to mourn them and all the other kids he lost before he went to camp and helped the rest pick up the pieces. He didn’t want to take too much time himself because he still had kids that needed back at camp but he needed time to pick himself up before he could anyone else. When he found out what Hera did he was beyond pissed. His kids just got out of a war and they had a chance to have a peaceful life but the queen of the gods ripped that chance away from them. And she used his only surviving son left to do so. Just like Pallux and Castor claimed Percy as a brother Dionysus claimed Percy as his son. The god never got around to making it official, he knew that he couldn’t fight Styx for custody, but he helped raise the kid. That was more than enough to claim Percy as his kid even if he couldn’t officially claim him and give him powers to match his siblings.
Notes:
The reason that the fates couldn't out right stop the giant war is because choice is impostant and they can't make choices for people. they could guide people into making a choice but the person has to listen. Hera made the choice to perpair for war and she has to make the choice to stop her plan, the fates can't do that for her, because of the power of choice.
Chapter 15: With the Romans

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
The Romans didn’t have the same build up to war as the Greeks, there's more of a disconnect between them and the gods so they weren’t in the thick of things. They don’t know that the lighting bolt has been stolen, they might have seen the storms and knew that the two brothers were fighting but they had no idea why. That was a Greek issue so the Greeks handled it while the Romans were left with questions but no answers. The Romans had no idea that the titans were rising and war was coming because all the build up was happening with the Greeks. The only clue the Romans had that something was wrong was monster activity and signs of the gods being upset. The Romans were left guessing what was going on while the Greek were right in the middle of everything, until a god showed up to warn them of the war.
Mars was the one to tell the Romans to prepare for war, telling them that the titans were rising. He stated that Apollo was the first victim of this war, that the titans tried to control the narrative by controlling the god of Truth and Prophecy. Mars went on to explain that the enemy wanted to twist the truth to sway allies to their side and they wanted to control the future by controlling Prophecy. When the titans were unable to control Apollo they made him isolated, cursed to talk gibberish whenever he tried to warn them of the threat. They kept him unable to ask for help while he suffered in silence as their attempts to corrupt him persisted. Mar told the Romans that Apollo was greatly injured by the enemy and would be sitting out the rest of the war so he could recover. He told the army that his brother has been fighting a silent battle for years and now it was time for the rest of them to pick up their weapons and fight while his brother recovered from his years of silent battle. Before he left Mars told the legion not to trust the augur from this point on, he told them that Apollo was not well enough to send them signs, so anyone could be on the other side including the enemy.
After the god left the legion, things changed. They now knew the reason for the increased monster active and they prepared for war. While more offerings were given to Apollo in hopes of helping the god recover, the augur office was basically dissolved for the time being. They would revisit the augur issue after the war was won, but for now they would listen to Mars and stop the practice.
The Legon led raids on monster nests from time to time until they marched on Mount Orthys and faced heavy losses. They believed that the gods were battling Saturn and their task was to weaken the titan by destroying his set of power so the gods could defeat the titan king. Most of the legion was made up by legacies who weren’t as sturdy as demigods or as easy to heal. So while the Greek demigods only lost ten of their campers the Romans losses were in the hundreds.
The Greeks fought for days and lost many nature sprites, centaurs, and satyr but they lost few demigods or hunters. The Romans battled for a few hours but didn’t have any back up from nature sprites, centaurs, or the fauns. They were fighting the enemy on their own so all the losses they faced were their own people. All the demigods that were in the legion during the war made it out, they had godly blood that gave them an extra edge. The legacies who fought didn’t have the same privilege, their godly blood was diluted, they didn’t have the same edge as their demigod coworkers or ancestors. They were easily cut down by the monsters they faced who were used to tougher prey, they couldn't be easily healed with the food of the gods. They were more mortal than divine and it was safer for them to heal the mortal way than tempting fate with godly food.
The battle lasted a good four hours before Mount Orthys fell. The battle might have been short but it took them days to recover all the bodies of their fallen. They held a furnital for the fallen and continued on with their way of life. Not much has changed for them in the long run, they did their duty, now they could go back to their life. They returned the augur to their job on a trial basis and life was good until they heard about covid, until Jason went missing.
Most thought that the covid was Apollo's way of dealing with being helpless during the war, that inchange for being helpless while he watched his family fight the world should do the same. That like he was unable to help while his blood was fighting for their life, the mortals shall be stuck watching as their family members fight for their lives against his sickness. Like he was unable to do anything but watch while his world was in danger of falling apart, the mortals were now doing the same. They were stuck watching helplessly as the world shut down terrified that this could be the end and unable to do anything about it. Others thought that covid was a product of Apollo being injured. That his pain brought this new sickness into the world. A few thought that Apollo was purging whatever Saturn put in his system as an attempt to control him and that led to covid.
However it started doesn’t matter, they had other things to worry about. They found that demigods were immune, but both monsters and legacies could get sick. After they put protocols in place to protect those not immune, Jason went missing. They haven’t seen to catch a break, first the war, then covid, now one of their leaders is missing.
Notes:
so for the time line Mars talks the romans shortly after the events of botl and they did a few monster raids between then and their march on the monition. By that time the gods fiurged out they need help from the romans as well, before that they thought they could handle it with just the greeks but realized they were wrong and informed the romans. Most of the time in-between they were preparing for war and waiting for a sign it was time for war. They got their sign and march on Percy 16 bdy in August and took the titian set of power, they learned about covid a few weeks later, they got things mostly back to normal by december and then Jason went mission
Chapter 16: Piper, Leo, Jason
Notes:
So didn’t read this book at all, and i have no intention to so, this is mainly going to be about Jason, Piper, and Leo at camp and not about their quest. The next ch is probaby going to go more indepth about how cabin is with Percy and bit about Apollo
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Apollo got covid enough under control for some of the world to resume by December but things started to go back downhill after Percy was taken. The stress of everything finally hit Apollo like a freak train and he was forced to take a younger form. He was the only thing keeping relatively from unraveling for the last nine years and before that he was struggling with chronic pain due to the curse on the oracle. He was barely holding things together by the end of the war and when things were finally looking up the rug got pulled out from under him with the news of Percy's disappearance and the knowledge that a second war was coming. That was the straw that broke the camel's back and Apollo crumbled. He is stuck as a five year old and refuses to do anymore work fixing covid until Percy is found. Apollo didn’t go back to Olympus like the lock down required, he instead chose to go to camp and watch over his kids while he had a chance.
When Annabeth comes back to camp with Leo, Piper and Jason everyone is disappointed that there was no news about Percy. The disappointment turned into suspension when the youngest of the Apollo cabin, a five year old named Lester, started growling at Jason. The whole camp recognized the look on Lester’s face, he looked just like Lee because he cursed someone, and Micheal picked him up and took him back to their cabin before he could curse the new kid. They had no idea if Lester awakened his plague powers but no one wanted to test if he had. It was clear that Jason and possibly the other newcomers didn’t pass the vibe check from Apollo cabin. It made everyone avoid the three. There was no warm welcome from the camp, there were no easy friendships forged, and there was no sense of family between the new campers and their siblings.
When Rachel gave the prophecy there was no fighting about who should go, if the newcomers wanted to go on a dangerous mission the camp didn’t see a reason to stop them. As bad as it sounds they were relieved that someone they cared about wasn't putting themselves in danger. They owed nothing to the newcomers, they wouldn’t miss them if things went wrong and the group ended up in the underworld. When the questers came back the camp was more willing to trust them but most people still kept their distance from Jason and Piper.
Leo was fully welcomed into camp after he found bunker 9 and it became the home he never had. After he had a chance to bond with his new siblings, the camp started to feel like home. When cabin 9 vouched for Leo he was welcomed with open arms and more campers started to make an effort to befriend him. Someone was always there to make sure that he wasn’t overworking himself while making the Argo ll and it made him feel cared for. When the boat was built and it was time to go he was sad to leave camp which surprised him. Leo was used to moving around and didn’t let himself get attached to places when he knew he would eventually need to leave but camp wormed its way into his heart. If he wasn’t the best person qualified to do repairs on the ship he would have let someone else take up the responsibility.
After the quest Jaso realized that he was sent on a mission doomed to fail, he was sent here to become a leader to camp half blood but that wasn’t going to happen. The camp didn’t want or need a new leader, they didn’t have the same type of structure as New Rome. There isn't a single set of leaders, the cabin concourses all come together to make the decisions, Percy just had more sway because of the trust people had in him and because of the sacrifices he made to keep everyone safe. Jason knew couldn’t replace Percy, and he was pretty sure someone would kill him in his sleep if he made a serious attempt at doing so. He has seen the way people looked at him after it came out that he and Percy were swapped. It was clear in their gaze that they were measuring him up to Percy and found him lacking. It didn’t help that every so often Percy’s bead/rock would glow more intense. The campers who noticed would always act a little colder towards Jason until the glow went back to normal. It was clear they didn’t like the fact that he was safe while their friend was obviously fighting for his life somewhere out of reach.
Piper had a hard time fitting in with her cabin, which made it hard for her to fit in with the rest of camp. She didn’t want to dress up, and didn't like how things were run. Cabin 10 didn’t have a problem with Piper not liking fashion or dressing up but they had a serious problem with her attitude. They all understand that not everyone would be into fashion or be a child of their mothers main domain of Love. They were usually accepting of all of their siblings but Piper made it hard, it felt like she looked down on them for liking perfumes and fashion. They used to get that a lot from the other cabins before everyone was forced to work together when the border was failing. It was bad to say but most of them were grateful that Luke poisoned Thaila’s tree, sure it was stressful and people got injured from the attacks, but it really brought camp together as a whole and many unbreakable friendships were made during that time.
Piper didn’t see that cabin 10 was training in a different way then the rest of camp, she didn’t notice that their perfumes were poison, that many of their hair accessories were hidden weapons, how they worked together with cabins 9 and 6 to make clothes infused with celestial bronze, or just how many weapons were hidden on their bodies. She didn’t realize that the many of them also inherited their mothers war aspect and they felt a need to tell her unless she asked. Cabin 10 would be happy to include Piper but she didn’t want to be included, she would rather spend time with Jason or Leo then with her new siblings. Piper was so caught up in proving that she wasn’t just a pretty face, that she could fight that just as well as any other demigod, that she missed the fact that her siblings were also badass. She saw what she wanted to see and didn’t look any deeper, making it hard for her siblings to like her.
Notes:
So Leo is having the best time with his siblings, the only people that truly understand him, he is so wrapped in building that he doesn't notice that Jason and Piper aren't having as much as a fun time as he is.
Jason understands why the campers dislike him, their is obvious favoritism going on because of the fate that he is safe while Percy isn't.
After the war everyone that gained a permit injured had their beads/rocks gain a soft glow. They weren't in full heath meaning they were one step closer to death and it their beads/rocks showed it.
Piper is not interide in anything overly girly so she missed the fact that like 90% of that is training. One of her sibls will come to her asking her to come with them to look at perfum, she turns it down because she would rather spend time training, missing the fact that her sibl was really asking her to come look at posiones with them. Piper doesn't like being a daughter of aphordite and it makes everyone else uncomfy becasue it reminds them how Luke was unhappy being the son of Hermes which make a lot of people aviod her
Chapter 17: More about camp and Apollo relationship with new rome

Chapter Text
So the last ch was through December and March, while Percy was still asleep. I’m not 100% sure about the canon timeline but in this Percy was taken in mind december and spelt until around late March. Percy rocks/beads were glowing even though he was asleep because he was dream walking into the underworld to talk to those who passed in the war. I will get into why that caused the beads to react in the next ch.
No one at camp has told Piper, Jason, or Leo about Percy's disability because it felt wrong to them. It seemed like the type of personal information that you don’t share without permission. Percy's health is his own business, he can share his health problems with anyone he wishes but no one will learn of them unless he is the one to share them. As far as camp is concerned Percy isn’t one of the seven and wont be going on the quest with everyone else. Percy has done his time as a prophesied hero and has earned his peaceful retirement. On top of that Percy’s status of prophet should have already disqualified him as a contender for one of the seven. No one knows what Hera was thinking when she made the switch because it was well known that prophets had no place on quest and now that Percy was claimed and being trained as a prophet he should have gotten the protection that came with the title.
Hera broke so many rules when she swapped Jason and Percy that she has to hide from the other gods to avoid punishment. This kind of rule breaking can’t be ignored just because she was the queen of the gods. For once in her long life her title as queen can’t protect her from feeling the fall out from her actions and her step kids are loving it. They can finally see their step mother being punished for the hurt she has brought into the world.
Things were normal at camp until around late March when Hera’s cabin collapsed. When the campers went to investigate the noise they saw a lady, who the oldest campers recognised as Lady Styx, standing beside the destroyed cabin. When she noticed that she and an audience Lady Styx turned to the crowd of campers and started talking. She told them not to rebuild Hera’s temple until her son was returned to her, that this was the start of Hera’s punishment for meddling where she shouldn’t have before vanishing.
Styx has had enough; she has given the queen time to turn Percy but Hera refused to listen to reason. Styx thought it was time the gods remembered to fear her again and took action against the queen. By destroying Hera’s cabin, Styx weakened Hera a lot. The cabins at camp acted like temples to the gods which was why it was such a big deal to have one, not only was it a place for their kids to stay but it was a way to give the gods a power boost. Sure there were other places that acted as temples for gods but their cabin at camp would always be their main temple because it was around demigods making the power boost even greater. Hera wronged Styx by taking Percy, her only demigod child, and made things worse by not releasing Percy when asked, so in retaliation Styx escalated things by destroying Hera’s main temple and declaring war between the two of them. Any and all allies the queen might have will abandon her once they find out to avoid facing off with an enraged Styx. So Hera is left without her biggest power boost while still recovering from being captured by the giants and will have no one to turn to for support.
Apollo is the only person besides Chiron at camp that knows how much Lady Styx fucked Hera over by destroying her cabin and unlike Chiron, he is overjoyed with this out come. While Chiron is thinking about how bad it will be to have yet another Olympan weekend going into a fight against Gaia and her children, Apollo is happy that Hera is being punished for messing with his prophet. Apollo's reaction is what finally tipped Chiron off that he was in fact Lester. While the rest of the campers were confused or scared Lester was happy and it finally clicked who the child really was.
Before this the only people at camp that knew that Lester really was Apollo were his kids. Chiron did even think to suspect that Lester was anything special because all gods were supposed to be confined to Olympus. He just thought that Lester was a traumatized kid that Apollo adopted, it would explain why Lester had eyes that seemed too old for a five year old and any odd behaviors the Lester showed. But thinking back it would explain Lester’s reaction to Jason. It was well known amongst the gods and other immortals how much Apollo despises anything to do with Rome. Jason probably only avoided being smited because of his age, if that boy was 18 or older he would have been a goner for sure. Every couple hundred years or so Apollo would petition the council to wipe New Rome off the map so they could rebuild from scratch and make a system that doesn’t use child soldiers. That is the only time you could count on Athena and Poseidon being on the same side of a vote. Of course the vote never went though, the gods might be shit at showing it but they do care about their kids and other descendants.
Apollo used to be very fond of Rome and even helped a few emperors with their rule but the god always held Rome at a distance. The god didn’t have any roman lovers or kids and really that was all anyone needed to know to tell Apollo attitude towards the romans. After the fall of Greece the god didn’t want to get attached to civilization that would one day leave him behind, making him keep Rome at a distance. He still did his duties and gave a helping hand every once in a while but it was less personal, something the other gods adopted over time. Instead of having oracles that Apollo talked to and threw, the romans had augurs who were sent indirect messages. The thing that turned Apollo against Rome was how they treated kids, in the past kids were something to be treasured and protected but was no longer the case. Nowadays kids and teenages make up the roman army even when they have adults that could step in and take the burden off of their too young shoulders. Someone had the bright idea to send kids to war because kids were offered more protections from the gods. There were certain gods like Apollo and Artemis whose job it was to protect kids and didn’t offer the same protections to adults. The idea unfortunately caught on and now it is the standard for New Rome.
Notes:
This ch really got way from me if their is any question about the time line and stuff let me know
so Apollo hates New Rome because someone thought it was a good idea to use child solders because kids where protected by Artemis, Apollo and i think a few other gods and by doing so they made those gods turn their back on Rome. Apollo never had a bio roman kid, their was like one kid he adopted forever go and all his roman descendants come from not that it would do them much good. When New Rome mad that chance Apollo took back any of his powers that could have been passed down from his adopted kid's bloodline. So all the people taking pride in being a descendant of Apollo are basically fakers bc they aren't of Apollo's blood or have his skills/blessings thing will come back up later with Octavian.
Chapter 18: Not a ch
Chapter Text
So first thing, I have decided to a complete rewrite of the books turning this is idea into a real fic and not this weird hybrid thing that is sorta on outline and sourta a story. I'm still going to be updating this fic partly because I have about few mostly written ch, partly because I feel like I gotten this far and should just see it completed. The reason I haven't updated in so long is partly because I was busy, partly because other works had my attention and partly I wasn't sure what I wanted to due next. I have one ch about how the underworld works and the powers of the demigods related to the underworld including Hazel mostly done if not competed (I don't really remember where I left off but it their was like only one demigod left to talk about or I competed it) I wasn't sure where I should put that ch story wise. I has some stuff that is impacting Percy know but Hazel hasn't been talked about yet so I wasn't really sure if I should interduce Hazel and get the info about death not being around first or if I should put this first so people could understander why it is such a big deal for death to be missing and what is happening with Percy right now. I have a ch talking about how camp - half blood is picking how should go on the ship and how would be apart of the seven from their side that is about half way done, spoiler (I'm changing the seven and that is way their is whole ch about them picking who will go). I also have a ch about Percy living on the street mostly done, I not 100% sure how I want his induration to new rome will be or if he is going to new rome at all yet. I also have a mostly done ch characterizing the all the Olympic gods plus any demigod parent I feel like is important, like Styx, Hades, hades wife (to lazy to spell). I plan an anther ch about how Apollo being forced from camp but i can't remeber if i have started it yet. Right now I have no idea what order I'm going to upload these ch in or if im going to unload them all ( the one about the gods charcters I might just keep to myself). if you guys have any ideas I will take them into account and it will probably help me deiced on what I want to do.
With the new fic, I'm going to be using this one as kind of an outline but a lot of will changes. I'm going way more in detail about relationships and powers and if I think something new sounds better than I'm adding it in. I don't know how similar the two fic will be in the end since I haven't finished either of them yet but I think both of them are worth a read since things are going to be different in both. Right now I have the first two ch done, I will not be uploading the new fic until I have at least three ch done. The new fic will be apart of this series so I it should be easy to find when I post it, if you guys want I can add a ch to this fic to let everyone knew that it is up, if no one wants me too then I wont. As for uploading their is a few things I can do, I can upload the first three ch all at once, I can space them out, I can wait until I have finished the whole fic and update it all as once. I'm equally willing to do all those options, I haven't decide on what one I think more, if you have any opion on this I'm will to listen, might not do it but I am willing to listen. Their is a good chance that I'll just get excited about something that I have written and just do a massive upload because I want people to read it if try to wait until the while thing is done but I can always give it a chance and see how things go.
If their is anything anyone wants to see let me know, I make no promises that it will be included but it probably give me ideas that will be. If anyone wants to be a beta reader I will greatly appreciate it, if not no big deal, I haven't had one in the past so it really isn't that big of a deal. It think that is everything I wanted to talk about, I think of anything else then I will make anything post.
Chapter Text
So the new fic is out. I reorder things so it is the second part of the serious,
Chapter 20: Son of Neptune pt 1
Notes:
it isn't perfuect but for somw reason this ch was supper hard to right
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
I’m not 100% sure about the canon timeline but in this Percy was taken in mind December and put to sleep until around late March and has been on the streets since he woke up. He maybe spends two days in the wolf house before he walks out because he knows that he wasn’t supposed to be there and couldn’t stand the wrongness of it all. Styx was old before even Kronos was born, Percy is Greek to the very core of his being, Rome doesn’t suit him and never will. One of the many reasons the Hera plan was doomed to fail before she even put it into motion.
So Percy rocks/beads were glowing even though he was asleep because he was dream walking into the underworld to talk to those who passed in the war. It was enough to set the glow off for a few reason 1) Percy had a closer ties the underworld making it hard for magic to know if he was close to the underworld because he using his abilities or because he was dying 2) the rocks/beads were already glowing slightly because of Percy’s disability making it less of jump for the magic to think he was dying 3) If Percy chose to stay with his dead friends and sibling he would flat out die. Percy is only alive right now because when his empathy link broke he chose not to follow Grover into death, if he ever goes back on the choice his body will give out and he would join his loved ones in the underworld. His life right now is a constant battle, he has to fight back this dark thought about how he should have died in the war before he let them consume him and he loses the fight and lets his soul be claimed permanently by the underworld. He is basically only alive because out of spite and everyone being there to care for him, to remind him that they are still people alive who care. That there are people he will abandon if he gives up and lets the underworld claim him once and for all.
It doesn’t help that Thanatos has been imprisoned, making the line between life and death less clear. Without someone to enforce death, it makes it easier for Percy to use the line separating the living and the dead as a jump rope. Before there was a hard line and Percy could always tell where he stood. But now he has no idea where he stands, the once clear boundary is now blurry, Percy knows that he isn’t in the underworld but that isn’t the same as being alive. There have been multiple times that Percy has unknowingly crossed over the line separating the living from the dead while living on the streets. All the back and forth ends up drawing Hermes' attention and he goes to find the soul that can’t pick what side of the line it wants to be on.
When Hermes finds Percy he does everything in his power to help. He can’t just bring Percy to camp without breaking too many rules but he can stick around and make sure Percy has a handle on his powers. So Hermes is teaching Percy so he is no longer in danger of dying and staying dead while answering any of Percy's questions that he may have. Hermes answers all of Percy’s questions to the best of his ability and lets Percy pick what he wants to do. Percy had a lot to think about, he knew about camp and Hermes promised to lead him back to camp if he wished but he doesn’t think he could face anyone without his memories. For the time being he and Percy are staying in an apartment so they have some place safe to live while Percy makes up his mind on what he wants to do next.
Percy knows that if he goes through whatever the Queen of the gods set up for him then he would get his memories back and because she was the one that took them in the first place only she could give them back to him. Since Percy doesn’t think he can’t face his past without his memories he is leaning more towards heading to New Rome even though he already hates the place from what he learned about it from Hermes. After talking about his options more with Hermes, Percy ultimately decides to go to New Rome so he could get help to free Thanos. It was annoying always having to be conscious of what side of the line he was on when it came to life and death even with Hermes there to help him out and just wanted that issue to be solved since he ran out of patience to deal with it. Percy thought that New Rome would be more helpful in his quest to free his uncle because California was closer to Alaska than New York.
The only plus side to all of this is Percy learned how to walk the line between life and death which basically made him invisible to those around him including monsters.
Notes:
No one knows how close Percy is to death, like sure his bead has a constant glow that gets brighter ever once in a while before/during his pass outs but the beads are still new. They don’t have to read them down to a science yet, they know that a glow is bad and the brighter the glow the closer one is to death until it reaches its max and it matches the rocks in the memorial but not much else. It didn’t react when Nico went to the underworld to do tasks for his mother and step father but it did react to anyone spending too much time next to the little styx running through camp. Their is still a lot to know about beads to but they know for sure that a glowing bead is a bad thing and without Percy their to check up on the camp think he is out fighting for his life and dealing with his black out alone while Jason is safe and it makes their blood boil at the unfairness.
Chapter 21: Son of Neptune pt 2
Chapter Text
Hermes led Percy to New Rome stating that he couldn’t stay for long, just enough to introduce him to the place before he would be forced to leave. He could accompany the demigod farther if he was in his Roman form but seeing as Percy wasn’t comfortable with anything Roman he thought that it would just make things worse instead of help. Hermes could only stay in his Greek form in short stints of time while in the Roman camp so it would be impossible to stay with his friend while he was inside of the camp. On the quest would be a different story, Hermes fully pained on crashing the quest, he was sure that he could make some kind of argument of Percy not being counting as a member either using his prophet status or the fact that Percy technology didn’t count as a living person as a moment to make a four person quest possible. If that didn’t work then Hermes would just get rid of one of the other questers for a bit and fill in their spot until they reached Alaska where he would switch back out. As much as Hermes wanted to see the quest to completion so as to make sure that Percy stayed as safe as possible he knew that he would just be a hindrance in the land beyond the gods.
On the way there Juno tried to make an appearance as an old harpy lady, Hermes had no idea what her game was but he took great pleasure from sucking her right in the face. Sadly he couldn’t do anything more before she fled, knowing that she couldn’t beat him in a fight while she was so far from top strength. For the first time her status as Queen of the Gods meant nothing since she has become public enemy number one in their pantheon for kick starting a second war so soon after the first one and making an enemy out of Styx. Anyone who would have been her ally feared Styx too much to stand her in the mess she made leaving Hera with nothing or nobody to hide behind.
Hermes waited until they had crossed the river to ditch the mortal disguise and trance form into something more godly before announcing Percy. “Hear me citizens of New Rome, I the god of Messages and Travelers have brought you Percy Jackson, Son of Styx, legacy of Neptune and Prophet of Apollo. Your fate is in his hands” With that Hermes’ time had run out and he was forced to leave.
Percy was taken to Renya to talk more about his prophectyness in private before having him fully join the legion. There was really no need for Percy to see Octavian so once they were done with their talk, Percy could have a tour around the place before having his pick of placement.
Percy comes clean about not having any memories about his past and Renya blames this on whatever Saturn had done to Apollo in the last war. Percy didn’t clear things up because his memories being erased by some leftover effect from some titan magic sound way better than his memories being erased by the queen of the gods. The titan story made him a victim of a godly battle while having his memories being taken by the queen would make him suspicious.
Renya offers Percy a job which he politely refuses stating that he wouldn’t be here long enough, that he is here to complete a job and once it was done he would be leaving. Renya looks like she wanted to press the matter but thought better of it. They didn’t need any more issues with Apollo, they already had coivd to worry about, it might not affect demigods but the truly wasn’t that many demigod in New Rome. Most of the population were legacies and able to get sick from the plague that was going around. Renya didn’t want to do anything involving Apollo just in case she misstepped and the god sent a worse plague. If Percy said he wasn’t going to be staying long Renya was just going to smile and nod to avoid angering the sun god by keeping his prophet from some other job he had to do.
With their talk concluded Renya called Hazel and instructed her to give Percy a tour of the place.
