"Let's play spin the bottle!" Teddie announced as he placed an empty drink bottle in the middle of the rest of them as they sat in Yosuke's room together. It was the perfect game he could think of to spice up their boy's night!
"Spin the bottle?! Why would we play someone like that?!" Kanji shouted back with an embarrassed look on his face.
Wasn't that supposed to be a kissing game?! How on earth were they all supposed to play something like that?!
"Yeah, I'm going have to agree with Kanji here, wouldn't that be a better game to play when the girls are around?" Yosuke pointed out.
Spin the bottle was one of those games that were better played in a co-ed situation, if they played it now then their only options of who to kiss would just be guys.
"You want to kiss one of the girls?" Yu looked at his partner and curiously asked. Yosuke got along with all the girls in the investigation team well enough, but they were all such good friends with each other that he couldn't exactly imagine any of them wanting to kiss him.
"They do each have something that makes them special," the brunet conceded.
Yukiko had her natural grace, Chie had her extremely tough fighting skills, Rise had the skills to light up a room with just her smile alone, and Naoto had her ever ending knowledge that could help her out in any situation, so they were all good choices for anyone.
"But... I do think that one of us here likes a certain one above all the rest," Yosuke nonchalantly nudged his eyes over to Kanji and said.
"Hmm...? What are you all looking at me for?" The blond asked when he caught the rest of his friends staring at him. Was there something he had missed?
"You'll understand when your older Kanji-kun," Teddie wistfully looked off to the distance and responded. The other boy still had so much left to learn in his life.
"But still... you got to be with me on this right Sensei? Spin the bottle can be plenty of fun without girls right?" Teddie turned to his friend and said. If there was anyone he could count on for backup here it was his ever loyal Sensei!
"Well, I've never played it myself, but I don't see why it couldn't..." Yu started to say.
Physically it wasn't impossible for them to play a game like that, they had enough people for it anyhow.
"Great then, it's decided!" Teddie clapped his hands together and announced, "We'll all play spin the bottle together!"
"Wait, that's not-" fair is what Yosuke was going say when Teddie suddenly cut him off and declared, "I'll go first!"
"Spin! Spin! Here we go! Show me bottle the one who deserves a smooch from me the most!" Teddie singsonged as he spun the bottle around.
Each of the boys waited in silent anticipation as they watched the bottle swirl around the room, each of them wondering who would be the unlucky first victim to be kissed.
"Oh my Sensei! It seems like you're the lucky bachelor of the night!" Teddie announced when he saw his bottle land on the other teen, "I always knew the two of us were destined to be, but it seems like fate has finally sent us our sign confirming it!"
If this wasn't a sign that him and Sensei were bound to be eternal lovers with one another, then he didn't know what was!
"Pucker up Sensei because I'm about to give you the greatest smooch of your life!" Teddie announced before he jumped in the air and landed on top of the other boy to kiss him.
He had to start off their grand love story with one another going all out after all!
Unprepared for Teddie's sudden arrival however, Yu had completely toppled to the ground when Teddie had collided into him and since Teddie had landed on top of his lap when he jumped onto him, each of his legs had begun to straddled on either side of his body as he leaned down to kiss him as well. Yu had found himself trapped in a complete Teddie loving lockdown as he kissed him and there was no escape.
"Hehe, that was so much fun! Did you have fun too Sensei?" Teddie pulled away and asked as he continued to sit on the other boy's lap.
Feeling Sensei's body pressed up against his own as he kissed him felt better than eating a cold Topsicle on a hot summer day! It made him want to keep kissing Yu more and more till he couldn't get enough!
"I... I did," Yu admitted with a red face of his own.
Teddie had been surprisingly good at kissing, or at least it had felt really good to him. He had never kissed anyone else before, so it's not like he had any other experience to compare it too, but it really did feel like he had received one of the greatest smooches of his life so Teddie hadn't been lying there.
Wait, now that he thought about it since this was his first time kissing someone before didn't that make Teddie his first kiss?
"Yay!" Teddie excitedly jumped up from his spot off of Yu and shouted. With that kiss the two of them their fate just had to be sealed! The two of them were destined to be lovebears with each other forever!
"Now it's your turn Kanji!" The short blond said as he grabbed the bottle and handed it out towards the other boy.
Spin the bottle was such a powerful game, that maybe it could help Kanji find love just like he had done with Sensei!
"M-My turn?! Who decided that?!" Kanji flusteredly shouted back. He hadn't offered to go next!
"We're going in order from most colorful hair to least colorful hair, so it'll go Me, You, Yosuke, and Sensei!" The short blond explained.
"What kind of messed up ordering system is that?" Yosuke wondered aloud to himself. Sometimes it amazed him the stuff Teddie's mind came up with.
"Oh, could it be that you wanted to skip the queue and spin the bottle next then Yosuke?" Teddie looked over at the other boy asked. Could it be that he had finally saw the appeal of playing spin the bottle with a bunch of guys and that's why he wanted his turn sooner?
"Nope, Kanji's more than welcome to go first," the brunet answered. He felt bad throwing Kanji under the bus like this, but it did ensure that his turn was later so he had weighed his priorities accordingly.
"I'd rather not..." Kanji looked off to the side and said with an embarrassed look on his face. Everyone was way too chill about this! It's like they didn't care at all that they were going have to kiss another one of them and worry about the effects it could have on their relationship going forwards!
"Aw, don't be like that Kanji! Show us how a cool awesome man does it and spin that bottle!" Teddie pumped up his fists in the air and cheered on.
He knew Kanji had a delicate heart and all, but he shouldn't let that stop him from having a little fun once in a while.
"Yeah, Teddie's got a point if you can't do it then who could? You are pretty fearless in battle so what's stopping you from being it here too?" Yosuke told him.
Exploiting Kanji like this was bad, but it was a necessary evil so he didn't have to think about who the bottle would land on when he went to spin it for just a little bit longer.
"F-Fine...! I'll show you both how it's done!" Kanji nervously said before he spun the bottle in place.
Teddie and Yosuke was right, he was Kanji freaking Tatsumi! He could handle something as simple as spinning a bottle!
"See it wasn't that hard!" The younger blond said when he saw the bottle had come to a stop. It actually wasn't that bad at all, he had been freaking out over nothing.
"Kanji...?" Yu spoke up and said.
"Yeah, Senpai?" Kanji looked up at his friend and asked. What was up?
"The bottle landed on me," Yu informed him.
"Ah, of course it-huh?!" Kanji panicked. The bottle landed on senpai of all people?! Then did that mean like Teddie he was also going have to...?!
"Isn't the odds that it lands on you twice kind of strange?" Yosuke pointed out. Stranger things have happened sure, but it was one hell of a coincidence.
"Well, that means that Yu is just that a popular of a guy!" Teddie insisted.
Maybe even fate couldn't resist Sensei's handsome charms too and that's why luck had decided to have the bottle land on him twice today so far!
"I mean I guess if it had to be anyone it's better if it's you," Kanji rubbed the back of his neck and said.
He would be nervous doing this kind of thing with anyone especially another guy, but if it was Yu then just maybe...
"It's better if it's with him?" Yosuke raised an eyebrow and asked. Could it be that Kanji had something he wanted to share with the class?
"I mean it's not like that obviously!" Kanji panicked with a red face. He could tell by the look on Yosuke's face what he was trying to imply about him!
"It's just... if I had to choose someone to do this with I would choose you because I feel the most comfortable around you," the younger boy continued to explained.
Yu was always so kind and understanding, plus he was never judgmental at all, if he was going to do this kind of thing with anyone than he wanted it to be with someone like him.
"Oh, senpai I feel so safe with you! Won't you embrace me in those strong comfortable arms of yours and kiss me!" Teddie wrapped his arms around himself in a pretend embrace and said as he mimicked Kanji's voice with his own.
"Do you want me to beat the living stuffing out of you?!" Kanji raised a fist and asked as he walked over to the other blond.
Teddie was looking like a mighty fine punching bag right now.
"Ah! Kanji looks beary scary! Protect me Yosuke!" Teddie shouted before he ran behind the brunet for protection.
He was a delicate bear! His tiny fragile body couldn't handle getting pummeled into submission by Kanji's powerful fists!
"He's just encouraging you," Yosuke lied and told Kanji, "It's all part of the game you know?"
Teddie owed him big time for covering for his ass.
"Right..." the younger boy replied with a skeptical look in his eyes. Some game this all was turning to be.
"You don't have to do this if you don't want to Kanji," Yu added, "If it's all too much for you, you can opt out and-"
"No, I can do it!" The younger blond said before he suddenly sat himself in front of his senpai. He had come this far and he wasn't going back out now!
A blush appeared on Kanji's face as he locked eyes with his senpai, even if it was finally catching up to him what he had actually agreed to do.
"I mean you already probably like someone else so you could just think of this as practicing for when you kiss them," Yu suggested in hopes that it would make the situation less awkward for the other boy.
Kanji already had a crush on Naoto, so maybe if he just thought of this whole thing as getting better at kissing for her then maybe he would feel a little less embarrassed about it.
"I can't do that," Kanji spoke up and answered with a serious look in his eyes, "I can only think about you when I look at you Senpai."
Thinking about someone else wasn't an option.
"Careful Kanji! You're messing with his heart!" Yosuke teased when he saw the blush rise on his partner's face. Kanji could be surprisingly smooth when he didn't realize it.
"Huh?! I wasn't trying to!"
At least that hadn't been his intention but...
"It's fine Kanji," Yu cut him off and reassured him, "I just have one request when you kiss me."
"Which is...?" The blond asked. It made him nervous how serious Yu looked right now.
"When you kiss me can you not topple me to the floor like Teddie did? I think you might actually crush me," Yu looked off to the side and admitted with an embarrassed face.
Kanji was a lot bigger than Teddie was and he was even pretty bigger compared to himself too. His height and muscles alone would be enough to crush him into a million little pieces if he jumped and landed on top of him like Teddie did.
"I wasn't planning on doing that!" The blond shouted back with a red face when he envisioned it.
He certainly wasn't going to be that eager like Teddie was!
"I'm... I'm going kiss you now okay Senpai?" Kanji told him.
He didn't want to catch the other boy off guard when he did it and he needed to say it for himself too. It was the only way he could motivate himself to make sure he followed through on it.
Yu silently nodded his head show he understood before he closed his own eyes in preparation. He was waiting for Kanji to make the first move. The blond felt his heart jump with how expectantly his senpai looked as he waited for him and he quickly closed his own eyes to follow suit.
He was just going to give his senpai a quick kiss that was it! He was just gonna have to lean a little forward till he felt his lips press against Yu's own and then he could pull away and it would be over! Really, it was no big deal!
After mentally preparing himself, Kanji found the courage within himself to lean forward till he felt his face press against something soft. His whole face lite up on fire after that.
"You... you did a good job Kanji," Yu admitted with a slightly red face of his own when the other boy pulled away. The kiss had been light and extremely quick, but surprisingly honest and sweet. It was cute.
"You did too..." The blond said doing his best to say anything legible despite how flustered he felt. He’s pretty sure his stomach was doing summersaults from how embarrassed he was.
"Now it's Yosuke's turn!" Teddie announced as he pushed the bottle towards his other friend, "C'mon Yosuke show us what you got!"
"Seriously? I didn't even agree to this," the brunet tried to resist and say. Why did he have to participate when he was against the idea in the first place?
"Hey! I didn't say I wanted to play either, but I followed through on it!" Kanji loudly reminded him.
Yosuke was one of the people that encouraged him to do it in the first place, so it wasn't fair for him to make an exception for himself and back out now.
"Yeah, Yosuke! You're the senpai here so you've got to lead by example!" Teddie followed up and said, "So take fate into your hands by spinning that bottle and finding out who you're destined to smooch!"
He knew that no matter how much Yosuke denied it a part of him had to be secretly curious.
"I'll spin it once and that's it," Yosuke gave in and replied as he took the bottle in his hand and got ready to spin it. He couldn't believe he had let himself get roped into this.
"Yay! I believe in you Yosuke! I believe you'll be blessed by good luck like the rest of us!" Teddie continued to say once he saw Yosuke's bottle spin in place.
Round and Round here it goes! Who will the bottle land on and Yosuke have to kiss who knows?!
"This is all starting to feel targeted at this point," Yu remarked when he saw the all too familiar sight of the bottle head pointing towards him.
First time it was just been pure luck when the bottle landed on him after Teddie spun it, second time it was just a coincidence when Kanji had done it, but now it had landed on him a third time with Yosuke? Were they sure this bottle wasn't weighted somehow?
"Hey! It landed on him three times so that totally didn't count right?!" Yosuke turned to the other two boys and said. That meant he absolutely didn't have to kiss him because there was no way that was fair right?
"Oh, could it be Yosuke that you rather kiss Kanji or me instead?" Teddie batted his eyelashes in shock and asked. How Scandalous! Could it be that Yosuke wanted to spin again because he secretly had a thing for blond guys?
"Let's kiss partner." The brunet announced before he walked over and sat in front of Yu.
"Yosuke?!" Yu shouted in surprised at his partner's sudden switch up. Did he seriously not want to kiss the other two of them that much?
"Listen I'm just going make this quick okay?" Yosuke crossed his arms and said while he looked down at the ground to hide his own red face, "So... It definitely won't mean anything,"
I mean of course it wouldn't mean anything they were just playing a game together after all. A stupid game that didn't mean anything more than they made it.
Yu let out a little hum of approval to show he understood the other boy before he closed his eyes and mentally prepared himself for what came next. Teddie's kiss had been energetic playful, he had acted like a little kid who just tasted candy for the first time and couldn't get enough of it because of how sweet it was and that excited tendency of his couldn't help but rub off on him as well for a while after that. Kanji's kiss on the other hand had been soft and chaste, it was charmingly innocent for a guy who looked as tough as he did. The only way he could think to describe it was that it was totally adorable just like Kanji himself could be.
But what would Yosuke's bring? He was his partner and he had known him far longer than either Teddie or Kanji, so you would think he'd have some idea, but he had absolutely no clue. Honestly, just imagining all the different scenarios was making his heart race.
"Oh, I get it you're genuine and honest," Yu commented to himself when he felt Yosuke pull away from him.
"Huh?" That certainly wasn't the first thing he expected out of the other boy's mouth when he kissed him.
"It's nothing," Yu assured his partner with a gentle smile on his face.
Yosuke had been a little clumsy with his kiss like Kanji and Teddie had. He was pretty sure that this had all been their first time kissing someone before so it was to be expected, but even so, it was clear that Yosuke had tried his best and hadn't half assed it even though it was all a part of a game that he didn't want to even play in the first place. His feelings too had felt genuine, it hadn't felt like an awkward forced kiss, but it felt like a type of kiss where someone was so desperately trying to figure out how to properly show how much they cared about someone for the first time.
"I'm just grateful that I got to learn a little more about you from this experience is all."
He's not sure if he would've been able to see how incredibly earnest Yosuke could be with his feelings otherwise.
"H-Hey! I don't know if you're making fun of me or not but quit making that dumb face!" Yosuke shouted back with a flustered face of his own. Honestly, he swore this guy was always saying the most embarrassing stuff with a straight face. It was impossible to tell if he was being serious or not sometimes.
"Ah! It looks like it's down to our last stud of the night!" Teddie cut in and announced, "The game's been on a fiery passionate roll this whole time, but it's time we greeted our final guest and bring a close to this fun game!"
"Everybody give a drumroll please to the amazing Sensei!"
A loud drumroll sound played before a spotlight landed on Yu.
"Huh? Me?" Yu responded when he felt the light shine on him and he heard a fake crowd cheer for him in the background.
I guess that made sense, everyone else had gone after all so it was only left him to spin the bottle. He had just been on the receiving end of it so much tonight that he completely forgot that he still had his turn left to go.
"Where are those sounds coming from and why the hell did you put a spotlight in here?!" Yosuke turned to Teddie and asked at the sudden theatrics of it all.
He couldn't even see where any of these dramatic effects were coming from which was troubling because this was his room as well as Teddie's so he should've known where any of this stuff was compared to anyone else.
"That would ruin the movie magic if I told you! And I wouldn't want to ruin that for our dear readers out there," Teddie explained.
"Our dear readers? Don't you mean watchers?" The brunet looked back and clarified. Teddie did know there was a difference between a person who read a book and watched TV right?
"I meant what I said," Teddie said before he turned around and gave you a wink that no one else could see.
"Hey, if it landed on senpai every time each of us spun the bottle then who do you think it will it land on when he spins it?" Kanji cut into their conversation and wondered. He couldn't be the only one thinking about this right?
"You do make a good point who will it land on...?" The brunet curiously looked back at the bottle that sat in front of his partner and said.
Sure, there was always the possibility it could still land back on himself but the bottle landing on himself four times back to back had to be pretty statistically unlikely right? But then again everything that had happened so far had felt pretty statistically unlikely itself and so maybe...
"Well, I've already kissed everyone so maybe I could just skip my turn and-"
"No!" The other three boys shouted in unison.
"Huh?!" Why did the rest of them look so freaked out about it?!
"Well uh... You see..." Kanji and Yosuke both started to stutter with red faces of their own in turn.
"You have to spin it because...! Because we all are curious!" Teddie blurted out and said. Yu couldn't leave them hanging like this! They all had to know who Yu was destined to kiss!
"I get that uh... but if I do that then I'll just feel like I'm playing a favorite," Yu looked down at the bottle and awkwardly admitted.
"What do you mean senpai?" Kanji tilted his head to the side and asked. Yu looked really torn up over this.
"Well... I mean I'll have to kiss whoever it lands on again and it just doesn't feel fair to the rest of you if I do that."
He knew he had no control over who the bottle landed on, but if he played like he was supposed to than someone was going leave the game getting a kiss from him twice this way and if he did that then that felt like he was saying that he liked one of them more than the rest of them which wasn't the case.
"Oh, I get the problem. Would you prefer to kiss us all again Sensei?"
"Huh?!" What was Teddie saying?!
"You're worried about someone feeling left out if you spin it right? So if you just kiss us all again instead then doesn't that fix the problem?"
It was a solution where everyone won! He was such a smart bear for coming up with a plan like this!
"That's..." Kanji started to trail off and say with a red face. There was no way his senpai would agree to something like that! Kissing all of them had to been hard enough for him as it was, but for Teddie to suggest he do it a second time...? That was absolutely crazy!
"Don't listen to what he has to say, just spin the bottle and don't worry about us!" Yosuke told him.
He knew his partner always fretted over the concern of others it was both his strength and weakness, but he couldn't let that hold him back here because there was no way that Yu would actually be into the idea of kissing them all again.
The grey haired boy's hand hovered over the bottle, he just had to spin it and this whole game would be over. They would all be able to return to their normal lives with each other without ever thinking about this game again. He would never have to think about kissing Yosuke, Kanji, or Teddie again. He felt his face flush red at the last thought.
No, that last part wasn't true he was going to at least have to think about kissing one of them after whoever the bottle landed on next and he was going to have to make peace with the fact that he would never experience the other two boy's kisses again that it didn't land on.
Yu took a deep breath before he locked eyes with the bottle and gripped it with one of his hands. He just had to turn it a little, it was simple enough. He just had to turn the bottle strong enough that it would cause it to spin and land on someone so they could all finally finish this game and...
"I can't do it."
"I care about you all so much, that choosing anyone of you is impossible," Yu hung his head down and admitted as he released his grip on the bottle.
Teddie, Kanji, Yosuke, they were all so important to him for many different reasons that choosing just one of them was impossible. It had to be all of them or nothing.
"Partner... are you sure of this?" Did he even realize what he was saying here? Yu was basically saying that he liked them all so much that he was okay with all of them at once too.
Yu silently nodded his head as a red tint spread across his face, "If it's with you three then it's fine because we're all best friends aren't we?"
The three of them were some of his best friends in all the whole world so he didn't think he would ever regret his choice.
"Besides the kisses weren't all that bad either," he looked off to the side and continued to say. As embarrassing as it was to admit, it would be a shame if he only got to experience each of them only once.
"Sensei!" Teddie shouted out through happy tears as he tackled into Yu's side and hugged him, "I promise Me, Kanji, Yosuke will do our best to be the best boyfriends you've ever had from now on!"
"B-Boyfriends who said anything about that?!" Kanji cut in and shouted. That was the first time he heard anything about this!
"Yeah, he just agreed to another kiss! He didn't say anything about agreeing to us being boyfriends right partner?" The brunet looked over to Yu and said. Teddie had taken way things to far this time! Telling Yu, he should kiss them a second time had been insane enough, but to promise him something like this was just unthinkable!
"Partner...?" At least that's what he thought, but when he looked over at his partner he had noticed that he had gone uncharacteristically quiet and the red blush on his face had only grown brighter.
Oh, so you don't actually mind that do you, partner? Yosuke looked back at him with a red face of his own and thought. Geez, what an embarrassing guy he was. Remind him never to play spin the bottle again, he couldn't afford to get any more boyfriends than he now already had.
