Summary:

The Holiday Toons have arrived to Gardenview!! Cosmo is excited to see his cousin again and all is well in the world... That is until she asks him for a certain request regarding a specific Main...

Chapter 1: All I want for Christmas is...

Ah, the holidays are finally here! Everyone at Gardenview gathered up to see some new Toons Dandy promised to reveal. The room was filled with chattering and gossiping from some of the more recent Toons wondering who they could be. Cosmo stood near a corner, smiling to himself as he bounced with some excitement. He was one of the only Toons who knew who they were… Well, at least one of them: Ginger, his cousin, was about to arrive!! He found himself fond of her, she was nice, thoughtful and shared the same hobby as him: baking! She was still new to it though, but her decorating skills were unmatched!! As Cosmo thought about it more, a voice snapped him from his daydreaming:

“ Excited? “

He turned around to see Sprout, his best friend, smiling at him with a batch of welcome pastries. If you were to separate them they’d both be reserved, quiet people. But together? They were inseparable! Talking until who-knows-when, Cosmo usually finds himself yapping about himself and his life to Sprout, who gladly listens, that’s why he had an idea on what was happening.

The shorter one nodded, bringing his hands together as he spoke.

“ How could I not be..? I get to see a family member who’s like me and doesn’t come here often, I can’t wait…! ”

As he continued to talk, he was interrupted by Dandy, walking in front of the elevator door and clearing his throat, all the Toons falling silent. He dressed formally for this occasion, wearing a nicely tailored suit and colorful boa brought to him to greet guests when the establishment was opened. If he’s being honest, he dislikes how it feels, preferring his more casual gardening attire, but it was special today! 

“ It’s time, my dear friends!! Are you all excited? “

He hyped up the toons, raising his hands and waiting for an answer. They all cheered in return, some of them even clapping as they waited for the others to be shown.

“ Well then! I won’t make you wait any longer. “

He stepped aside and the elevator door opened, revealing two Toons:

Bobette, a red haired Toon sporting a grey beret and a cozy green sweater stepped up first, waving at everyone as she was followed by… Dear god, a really big pet rock. 

“ Please welcome Bobette! “ Dandy cheered, “She and her wonderful crew will be joining us this holiday!! “

And the Toons went WILD. Those who already knew her applauded as the newer ones gasped and talked about her and the other. Connie in particular seemed interested in that big rock. Seriously, what do they feed that thing?! 

“ Thank you all for being here! “ The ornament shouted, looking at the audience with a big grin.

 “ As you know, I’m here with my crew to make the holidays in Gardenview just a little more special. So introducing the first member: This is my pet rock, Coal! “

Coal let out a hearty ruff as she was introduced, her tone surprisingly monotone and her expression serious and cold. The crows roared, Pebble especially could be heard barking in the background with excitement to everyone’s dismay. Dandy quickly took action as he gently shushed Pebble, motioning to keep quiet.

“ And now… “ 

Bobette motioned forwards, looking back at the elevator with that warm smile of hers, and with that two more Toons walked out: A scruffy boy with antlers, peculiar ears and a big smile and a well dressed girl with beautiful icing hair. 

“ These are my friends! Rudie and Ginger. “ The ornament continued, grabbing both of the Toon’s shoulders and bringing them more to the front.

“ We hope to be good companions these days!! “

She finished and they all roared with excitement! Many walked and surrounded the Toons to greet them personally and take a closer look. Cosmo and Sprout just stood there as the room’s frontal area got more crowded, disliking the pressure of being around so many people. 

As he looked around, he managed to spot one Toon squeezing her way out of the crowd, quickly yet stealthily trying to get away from the loud audience. The pastry looked at Sprout and motioned him to follow, him nodding as the other walked to Ginger with open arms.

“ You’re here! “ Cosmo giggled, Ginger smiling sweetly and accepting his embrace, hugging him as tight as she could.

“ …Yes, it’s nice to see you again, Cosmo. “

The cookie spoke, her eyes slowly wandering to the taller boy behind the chubbier one. Her expression turned into a curious one, her slightly tilting her head as she stared. 

“ Oh, and who are you supposed to be? “

“ The name’s Sprout! “ 

The green haired one spoke, stretching out the tray with pastries in front of her. 

“ I’m Cosmo’s friend, we had the idea to make these for the new Toons, so please, feel free to take one! “

He greeted with a smile, Ginger quickly looking at Cosmo before smiling with… Some smugness in her face? No, he probably read that wrong. She rapidly looked back at Sprout, smiling as she took a jam filled pastry. 

“ Oh, thank you so much. Do you like baking as well? “

“ Yes! Me and Cosmo spend most of the time baking and cooking for other Toons. I’d have to say it’s honestly really nice being with him! “

Oh, he could feel an aura coming from Ginger. She smiled sweetly and nodded, but she would glance at Cosmo every once in a while in a slightly pompous manner. What was up with her?!

Whatever, it seemed that Sprout and Ginger were getting along. That made him happy.

“ Oooh, Cosmoo… ~ Can we talk for a moment? “

Ginger called out, him quickly looking her way as he nodded. The once crowded room was now empty, Toons dispersed through the building as the both of them walked towards the kitchen. Sprout decided to stay with the rest of the mains and holiday Toons to give them their pastries, giving the other two some time alone. Ginger’s tone was confusing, he never expected her to sound like this! It was sing-song-y, almost in a hum as she walked, opening the door to the kitchen. 

Cosmo followed quickly, looking at her before-

“ So when were you going to tell me you had a boyfriend? “

What.

It took him a few seconds to process this, but when he did, he felt his face go red with embarrassment. He started to quickly blurt out: 

“ N-No!! We’re not- It’s not- You got it wrong!! “

Ginger giggled, covering her mouth with her hand as she moved it to now cup her face, slightly tilting it.

“ Oh, he isn’t? “

Ginger was always the type of cousin to tease the younger family members, sadly Cosmo was one of her most notorious victims (she claimed it was entertaining to see him flare up and try to deny everything). 

The pastry shook his head furiously, the other just nodding and sighing.

“ I see… I guess I’ll just ask someone else, thank you. “

Huh??

This woman keeps getting more confusing every second. 

“ About what? “ 

He asked, whatever embarrassing feelings calmed down as he looked at her. It was noticeable she slumped a little, but she quickly covered it up with a smile. 

“ Oh, it’s nothing that important, don’t worry sugar… “

He looked at her, huffing a little as he spoke.

“ You have to tell me now, you made me curious..!! “

“ Ehh..?? But- “

“ No buts!!! What were you gonna ask me?? “

Ginger sighed, letting her arms fall as she looked at Cosmo right in the eye.

“ Promise to not tell anyone, okay? “

He stared as she raised up her arm, stretching out her pinky finger as she waited for a response. He didn’t do so verbally, instead opting for moving his own pinky and gently intertwining it with the cookie’s.

She smiled and took a deep breath. 

“ I was hoping you’d give me advice on how to get a partner… “ 

HUH?

His eyes widened, his mouth slightly agape as he stared.

“ You… Have a crush? “

“ It appears so… “

They both stayed silent before Cosmo smiled. She looked at him, confusion in her face as the pastry walked closer.

“ Who’s the lucky toon? “

Finally, after all these years. He gets to tease HER. He gently elbows the other, raising his eyebrow as she giggled, brushing him away.

“ Oh, stop..!! “

“ I won’t until you tell me..! “

“ It’s… Uhhm… “

She became quiet, her face slightly reddening as she looked down, fiddling with her fingers.

“ Come on..!! “

“ ...Bobette. “

Chapter 2: Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree...

Summary:

It's up to Cosmo and Ginger to try and impress Bobette!

“ BOBETTE?! “

Cosmo’s jaw DROPPED. He doesn’t know when they started to talk or interact, but it’s surprising it was the ornament out of all people. Wasn’t she a main after all?? Doesn’t she have a busy schedule? He thought about it before he realized: one, she’s a holiday Toon, and two, Sprout is a main character and he mostly hangs out with him, so that wouldn't make sense. 

“ Yes!! ” 

She squealed, her expression turning happier as she fixed her hair to cover more of her left eye. 

“ How can I not?? She’s sweet, cheerful, nice, soft, oh she’s such a sweetheart!! Have you been hugged by her before? It feels like heaven~ “

She cups her face with her hands, swooning and fangirling over the ornament. All Cosmo could do was stare at the cookie and blink… Oh, he knew she was a lesbian, she just had those vibes, but he didn’t expect it to be this strong. It’s honestly really comforting seeing her this content, she’s usually calmer and quieter, so seeing her being so upbeat made him smile. He grabbed her shoulder and looked at her.

“ I don’t… Really know about how to do this, but we can figure it out together. “

Many days have passed and the pastry duo have been researching how to charm Ginger’s special Toon. Their first move was to ask Sprout to bake some desserts for her, but he stated that it’d be more meaningful if she did it herself! So with the help of the boys, she managed to bake some beautifully decorated spiced cookies, there were presents, christmas trees, reindeers, even cute little ornaments…

 

The problem was they tasted like shit.

 

Cosmo tried his best to cover up how badly they tasted by giving her a thumbs up, but Sprout straight up dropped the cookie and offered to bake a new batch himself.

 

After that heartbreaking defeat, they walked up to Glisten, who gladly helped by gifting her a new eyeshadow palette and strawberry lip gloss! He also mentioned other ways to surprise her, but they were all… “Too much” for their liking (Laying on her bed with rose petals and a robe was apparently a bad idea, much to Glisten’s surprise). 

It was night time at Gardenview and the cousins are still up, it took them several hours for Ginger to finally try and talk to Bobette. Cosmo and her made a plan: she’d talk to the main toon, give her some of Sprout’s cookies and then she’d flirt with her. Was it a simple plan? Yes it was, but it’s enough game for both pastries. With determination, Ginger grabbed some cookies and put them in a nice bag, sealing it with a cute, festive bow before walking forward, Cosmo following her from a distance in case something happened. The cookie girl finally found Bobette, looking back at the pastry before giving him a thumbs up and waddling up to her.

“ …Hey, Bobette? “ She spoke, a slightly nervous tone in her voice as the ornament looked at her, tilting her head.

“ Oh, Ginger! Do you need anything? “ 

She smiled, her hands on her hips as she looked down to the shorter one. 

“ I just wanted to uh… “

Cosmo looked from a distance, quietly cheering her on before he looked at the bag she was holding. 

Sprout’s cookies, although tasty looking, clearly had shaky lines. He had helped the berry with decorating, so he was nervous when it came to piping every detail. The cookies she held didn’t match any of Sprout’s cookie’s characteristics!! Ginger’s bag had perfectly decorated cookies with candy pearls and bows (which he didn’t use for decorating). So that would mean…

He felt a knot in his stomach, quickly looking at the kitchen before he found a horrible scene: The tray with Sprout’s cookies was on the floor, bitten and crumbled while Ginger’s earlier batch was almost untouched.

The culprits? Feasting on the ruined cookies.

Pebble was happily stuffing his face with the berry’s cookies, his tail wagging with joy as Coal just stared at him with her usual expression. How did this happen?! The counter was big enough for them to not reach it, how did they even knock the tray down?!

As he dashed to warn Ginger, it was already too late, Bobette was holding one of the cookies and taking a big chomp out of it. He cringed, imagining the other’s reaction to the overly salty, hard cookies… But when he looked back at them:

“ WOW!! You made them yourself?! “

“ I… I had a little help, but yes..!! I made the batter and decorated them, what do you think..? “

“ They’re amazing!! “ Bobette muffled, speaking with her mouth full but quickly covering her mouth to seem more polite. She gulped down before continuing to speak. 

“ I’ve always loved your baking, Ginger!! You’re really good at it and they look super cute!! “

Cosmo sighed, placing his hand on his chest to calm down his beating heart. Even if the cookies she served her weren’t the best, Bobette seemed to like them, and it made the cookie happy. She seemed more confident with her body language, giggling and smiling over the other eating another cookie. 

“ I’m… Really happy you think so. “

Bobette said something else but he’s going to be honest, he didn’t understand any of it. Not only was she speaking fast, but her hand covering her mouth made it even harder to make out what she said.

“ Oh also… ” Ginger mentioned.

“ I was thinking about making a raspberry soufflé next, it kind of reminds me of you… “

“ Huh?? ” The ornament blinked, smiling with confusion as she looked at the shorter one.

“ How so?? ”

“ You… Uhh.. “ She started fiddling with her hands, looking at the floor as she started to get nervous. She took a deep breath and spoke:

“ A classic vanilla soufflé has approximately 6 teaspoons of sugar for both egg whites and yolks, you’re able to add more depending if you want to coat it with powdered sugar or if you want it to be sweeter. If you add a raspberry compote that’ll be one fourth of a cup of granulated sugar with all the fruit’s natural sugar. “

Both Cosmo and Bobette were utterly confused. He tried to get a closer look without looking suspicious in an attempt to figure out what she was doing.

“ …But you seem to be made out of all sugar, because you’re way sweeter than any desserts I’ve baked and you make my heart rise in your warmth. “

 

Was.

Was that a pick-up line?!

Before he could process it, Bobette’s face turned as red as her hair, looking at Ginger with a small smile. 

“ W…What?? “

She started to giggle, her noises sweet as honey as Ginger looked at her with admiration.

“ I… I mean it!! You’re a cherry on top of a cake because you’re the finishing touch to a perfect day! “

She spoke, causing Bobette’s laugh to get louder.

“ O-Oh, stop it you!! ” 

“ Is your name Tiramisu? Because I-I can’t get enough of your layers! ” 

The taller one started to snort with her laughter, trying to calm down in an attempt to silence herself.

“ Y-You’re… You’re gonna make me wake up everyone with my stupid laugh!! “ Bobette howled, wiping off a tear from her eye from cackling too much.

“ I think… I think your laugh is cute..!! ” Ginger blurted out, causing the other to turn even more red.

“ Oh, you..!! ” 

The main bent down to Ginger’s height and moved some of her icing hair away from her face before giving her a quick peck. Both the cookie and the pastry froze, Ginger’s face quickly reddening up with the ornament as she smiled.

“ Thank you for the present!! I’ll see you tomorrow!! ” Bobette cheered as she waved and ran away. Ginger just stood there, her hand grazing the cheek where the other kissed her as Cosmo walked up to her, grabbing her shoulder.

“ So…? How did it go? ” He asked, already knowing the answer.

She responded by flapping her hands, smiling widely as she lunged herself to Cosmo, hugging him tightly. He was so surprised he lost balance, causing both of them to fall down with a thud. Sure, it hurt, but they didn’t even notice because of their giggling. They hugged each other and excitedly rolled on the ground as Ginger squealed “I DID IT!” over and over again.

Once they both calmed down, they were cackling silently on the floor, staring at the lit ceiling as they catched their breath.

“ Oh, I can’t thank you enough, sugar… ” she happily sighed, looking back at Cosmo as he nodded.

“ I’m so happy for you..!! You did it!! ” he responded, smiling at her.

They both continued to look up, happily relaxing and thinking of the recent events. Although Ginger had used… Some interesting pick-up lines, she seemed comfortable with Bobette, happily being herself around her. It made him proud of her, and it made her proud of herself.
