Work Text:
In hindsight, Ye Xiu thinks, he probably should have seen this coming. The occasional vomiting in the mornings should have been a big enough clue, not to mention the random cravings he got for things other than cigarettes.
...although the lack of craving for cigarettes should probably have clued him in sooner as well.
In his defense, how was he supposed to know he was pregnant?
Sure, there were some signs, but those were small signs, things that Ye Xiu could have written off, attributed to his changing circumstances, to stress about Excellent Era. But the biggest clues, the ways that most omegas realised they were pregnant, were missing for him! It wasn’t his fault that heats only came three times a year, and he and Wenqing had timed their cycles to fit perfectly into the times when they could actually afford to meet.
(Besides, if they couldn’t meet, they could just take suppressants, it wasn’t like they weren’t readily available.)
So forgive him if he didn’t realise that his heat wouldn’t come, given that it was currently the middle of the regular season and his next heat wasn't due until months later.
Which brings him here, to where he is now. As it is, he doesn’t find out until months in, after Excellent Era’s already kicked him out and he’s established himself as a network manager at Happy Internet Cafe.
He’s working the night shift, as usual, with Tang Rou seated beside him levelling on Soft Mist. Ye Xiu himself is levelling on Lord Grim, and has just completed a dungeon when a customer calls for a drink.
Standing to grab the drink and serve it, Ye Xiu is abruptly hit by a wave of dizziness, his vision going black at the edges, and he darts out a hand to grab at the nearest support. Dizziness from standing suddenly after sitting down for a long time, he can understand. It’s not like it’s never happened before- Ye Xiu had bad circulation, really, and that also meant that a sudden change from lying down or sitting to standing occasionally sent his vision spotty.
This is worse than it usually is, though. Usually, he can just power through, blink through the hazy vision while continuing whatever he’s doing, and no one around him is any the wiser.
This time, though, he has to crouch down, one hand still clamped around the edge of the table. He sits down heavily on the floor, blinking through darkened vision, regulating his breaths. His head is woozy, bad enough that if he hadn’t sat he would likely have either fallen down or passed out, and even his hearing is wonky, like he’s underwater.
By the time he blinks out of the dizziness, by the time his vision clears and his hearing returns to normal, Tang Rou has already noticed, and is crouched by his side, hand on his shoulder and expression concerned.
“What happened?” She asks, one hand wrapped around his bicep as she helps him into a chair. “You practically collapsed, what’s wrong?”
Ye Xiu waves off the concern, and focuses on regulating his breathing. It’s still a little quick, which is another thing that usually doesn’t happen- in general, after the dizzy spells pass, they don’t leave any lingering after-effects.
“Dizzy spell,” he says after a long moment. “It happens, don’t worry about it.”
His head still feels a little woozy, which is why he doesn’t protest too much when Tang Rou furrows her brow and says, “It looks serious, though, you should head upstairs and rest, I’ll take over your shift.”
“It’s not that bad-“
“I’ll call Guoguo to drag you upstairs,” Tang Rou says lightly, and Ye Xiu knows when he’s beaten. He sighs, and shifts his weight to stand, ready to head upstairs.
“Hang on,” Tang Rou adds, standing as well. “I’ll help you upstairs, I don’t want you to faint on the stairs and hit your head or something. Also, you should probably see a doctor, your face is scarily pale.”
“You really don’t need to-“ Ye Xiu starts, only to be cut off by Tang Rou, who fits her hand around his elbow and pulls him gently to his feet. “I’m not an invalid, you know. Besides, you can’t leave the counter unmanned.”
Tang Rou shrugs, and begins tugging him towards the stairs. “It’ll be fine, it’s only a short while and there aren’t that many customers anyway.”
Resigned, Ye Xiu lets Tang Rou escort him up the stairs.
Ye Xiu wakes up to someone knocking at his door. “Ye Xiu, wake up, the doctor’s here to see you!”
It’s... Chen Guo’s voice, but Ye Xiu can’t make heads or tails of what she’s saying. Doctor? What doctor?
Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, Ye Xiu swings his feet out of bed and stands, grimacing when his vision goes spotty once more. Thankfully, it isn’t as bad as it was yesterday night, and Ye Xiu blinks the spots out of his eyes, opening the door.
“What doct-“
“I called in a doctor to check on you,” Tang Rou says, smiling guilelessly at him. “You should get seen, you really don’t know how bad you looked yesterday, and you still don’t look that great right now, honestly.”
Beside Tang Rou, Chen Guo nods. “Rourou told me what happened yesterday, you should get checked, what if Rourou wasn’t there yesterday, huh?”
Sighing in the face of both women’s determination, Ye Xiu can only acquiesce. Besides, the doctor was already here, what could he do about it? It wasn’t like he could just say no and turn the poor person away. Stepping out of his room, he lets Chen Guo lead him to the dining area, where there’s a man in a plain button-up and a stethoscope around his neck waiting.
“Ye Xiu, right?” He asks when Ye Xiu takes a seat. “You experienced a dizzy spell yesterday night? Around how long did it last and how badly were you affected?”
With a sigh, Ye Xiu begins to answer the questions. He doesn’t expect much, really, just to be told that he has bad blood circulation or low blood pressure or something along those lines, but then the doctor hums, makes a note, and asks, “You’re an omega, right?”
...what does that have to do with bad circulation?
Nevertheless, Ye Xiu nods, watching as the doctor hums again. “Do you have a mate?”
Out of the corner of his eye, Chen Guo starts when he replies in the affirmative, jerking upright and opening her mouth to say something only to be stopped by Tang Rou, who has surprise scrawled on her features as well.
The doctor just nods at that, looking unsurprised. “Have you been away from your mate for longer than two months?”
“Almost four months.”
“Ah.” The doctor blinks, looking surprised. Behind him, Tang Rou and Chen Guo exchange startled looks as well, and Ye Xiu sighs inwardly. He knows it isn’t usual for a bonded pair to live apart, to not see each other for such long periods of time, but there really was little choice when they both captained different teams based in different cities.
“That’s a long time to be away from your mate,” the doctor says. “In this case, it’s likely that we’re looking at a case of bond neglect- it usually manifests in dizziness, then progresses into fainting spells or prolonged fatigue. There’s no medication for it, I’m afraid, I would recommend that you contact your mate to let them know that you should meet up- if you’re feeling the effects of bond neglect, it’s likely that they are as well.”
Ye Xiu blinks. It’s his turn to be taken by surprise; he knows about bond neglect, it’s common knowledge, but- “...I’m part of a fated pair.”
Fated pairs didn’t face bond neglect- the point of being fated was that their bond, once finalised, was much stronger than the average mating bond, strong enough to withstand being apart. Given that the longest time Ye Xiu and Wenqing had gone without seeing each other after finalising their bond had been more than a year, without any consequences, Ye Xiu doubts that a measly three and a half months is enough to cause bond neglect.
The doctor blinks as well, clearly reconsidering his diagnosis for a long while, before he says, “...perhaps you should consider getting a pregnancy test, Mr Ye. It’s true that fated pairs don’t face bond neglect in normal circumstances, but if the omega is pregnant, there is the possibility. I’m afraid that I didn’t bring along a test kit with me, but I could recommend a few types if you need.”
“Uh, that’s alright, thanks,” Ye Xiu says automatically, mind running a mile a minute.
Pregnant? There was no way, right, it had been more than three months since he and Wenqing had last shared a heat, if he was pregnant he should have known by now. At the very least, he would have started showing, right?
...well, he had noticed a bit of weight gain recently, but he’d chalked that up to the constant all-nighters and instant noodles. Maybe he should have given it more thought, really.
“If that’s all?” The doctor asks, and Ye Xiu finds himself nodding absently even as he contemplates the odds of him actually being pregnant. For close to four months. And not noticing it.
The doctor begins packing up, and Tang Rou stands to show him to the door. In the doorway, the doctor turns back to face him briefly. “Please contact your mate soon, Mr Ye, you should reinforce your bond as soon as possible, or the dizzy spells will get worse.”
Ye Xiu nods habitually once more, and the doctor makes his way out. There’s a long silence as Tang Rou closes the door behind the doctor, then Chen Guo lets out what can only be classified as a screech.
“You have a mate? You’re pregnant and you didn’t tell anyone? You should have told me, I wouldn’t have let a pregnant omega run the night shift by himself!”
“Boss, I didn’t even know myself,” Ye Xiu says, raising an eyebrow. The more he thinks about it, the more certain he is that the doctor’s suspicions are correct. It would fit, the way he’d recently had bouts of vomiting that had only just seemed to stop, the way he’d stopped craving nicotine and started craving weird foods instead.
He should probably really get a test done, though, then tell Wenqing the results. But... he wouldn’t mind being pregnant, he thinks. Both he and Wenqing had always wanted pups, although they’d agreed to try only after they’d both retired, because both parents living in separate cities was really not the way to raise a child. But now that Ye Xiu was retired, even though it was only temporary... it could work.
“Are you going to tell your mate?” Tang Rou asks, looking concerned. “You should, you heard what the doctor said, the dizzy spells are only going to get worse if you don’t.”
Ye Xiu shrugs. “I’ll get a test to confirm it first, there’s no point making him fly all the way here if it isn’t true.”
“Fly?” Chen Guo looks puzzled, surprised, and Ye Xiu shrugs once more. He can’t blame her, it really isn’t the norm for a bonded pair to live apart, but needs must. Besides, he and Wenqing spend the entire off-season together whenever possible, squeeze out every bit of time they can, and the rest of the time they have video calls and Glory to tide them over until the next opportunity.
“He lives in City Q,” Ye Xiu explains. “Because of work.”
He’s deliberately keeping things vague- despite not really caring whether or not Chen Guo found out that he was Excellent Era’s Ye Qiu, he doesn’t see the point in having to talk down a screaming Chen Guo if she found out that Han Wenqing was his alpha before it became necessary. Besides, Chen Guo didn’t believe that he was Ye Qiu, even after he’d told her point-blank, so it was a fairly logical assumption that she wouldn’t believe Ye Xiu even if he’d told her the truth anyway.
“Oh,” Chen Guo says, looking a little sad, presumably at the thought of fated mates living apart because of circumstances. Having known his boss for more than a month now, it’s likely that she’s constructing some melodramatic, mildly absurd story in her mind now, but Ye Xiu doesn’t see fit to protest whatever drama she’s created with anything more than a lacklustre, “It’s really not that bad.”
“What are your plans, if you’re really expecting?” That’s Tang Rou, expression serious.
“I’ll move to City Q,” Ye Xiu says. “I couldn’t before, because I was needed in City H, but now that I’m not it’ll be fine.”
Tang Rou nods, as if satisfied by his answer, and then continues, “I’ll head out and get you a few pregnancy tests, then.”
“I can do it myself-“
“In your condition?” Chen Guo asks, voice severe. “What if you faint in the middle of the road, who’s going save your sorry butt?”
Ye Xiu sighs, but relents. He knows better than to go against Chen Guo, especially once she’s set her mind to something, and knows even better not to contest Tang Rou, who may look mild-mannered and soft-spoken, but is even more stubborn than Chen Guo can be.
“Go back to your room and rest,” Chen Guo says, pointing an imperious finger in the direction of Ye Xiu’s room. “You still look like you’re going to keel over at any moment, go and sleep, we’ll wake you when Rourou comes back from the pharmacy.”
Huffing amusedly, Ye Xiu heads back to his room to do as Chen Guo says.
Somehow, Ye Xiu thinks, he’s really not surprised at the result. He’s already taken three tests, and they’ve all come up positive. Still, he’d pretty much reasoned that this would happen- it would explain so many things that had happened over the past few months.
...he needed to tell Wenqing right away, though.
And Mucheng. Mucheng was going to murder him for not getting this checked out earlier. At least old Han would probably be too surprised to do anything more than glare at him for a bit, but Mucheng would kill him and not even blink.
Pulling up QQ on the computer that he’d convinced Chen Guo he was feeling well enough to use, Ye Xiu opens Mucheng’s contact and is just about to send a message when he realises that it’s a Saturday, which means that she’s probably preparing for a match right now, and Ye Xiu should probably wait before delivering his shocking news. The last thing he wanted was to shake Mucheng’s mindset before a match.
Which, he muses, means that he can’t contact Wenqing either- his alpha was likely also preparing for his own match, and Ye Xiu really didn’t want to affect Wenqing’s play. Mucheng may not care in the long run -Ye Xiu knew how much she hated Excellent Era now, even though she was professional enough not to let that hatred affect her playing- but Wenqing always gave his best for Tyranny, and Ye Xiu wouldn’t be able to live with himself if he was the reason that Tyranny lost a match that should have been their win.
Excellent Era had a home match today, Ye Xiu remembers. Excellent Era’s season eight schedule is still buried somewhere in his memory, from when he’d memorised it early in the season, hopeful that management would at least allow him to play to the end.
Who were they playing again? It wasn’t Tiny Herb, they’d played against them two weeks ago, and it wasn’t 301, that match had been a while back too-
...Fuck, weren’t they playing Tyranny tonight?
How could he have forgotten? Wenqing had just messaged him about it last week, threatening to tell Ye Qiu about Ye Xiu’s circumstances if he didn’t give him his location, which- okay, Ye Xiu had caved, of course he had, an annoyed Han Wenqing was far easier to handle than a furious Ye Qiu.
Which meant that old Han would be coming to the internet cafe tonight, anyway. If that was the case, then he may as well ask Mucheng over as well. Two birds, one stone, right?
Lord Grim:
Come over with old han tonight, ive got something to tell you two
Dancing Rain (Su Mucheng):
That sounds ominous
Dancing Rain (Su Mucheng):
But will do lol :D
Even though both Chen Guo and Tang Rou had ganged up to ban him from working, Ye Xiu still finds himself seated behind the counter, levelling Lord Grim beside Tang Rou, which is the only reason that he’s actually around when Wenqing and Mucheng come up to the front desk.
“Xiu,” Wenqing rumbles softly when he reaches the counter, and Ye Xiu’s omega reacts immediately to his alpha’s presence, his chest going warm, a purr building that he has to forcibly push down. His instincts are demanding that he scent his alpha, that he gets as much physical contact as possible right away, but he’s still in public and the cafe is still chock-full of Excellent Era fans furious at their team’s loss.
“Your friends?” Tang Rou asks, curious, and Ye Xiu nods.
“Our tenth server friends, actually. That's Cleansing Mist,” Ye Xiu says, nodding at Mucheng, and Tang Rou’s eyes light up.
“You can call me Mumu!” Mucheng says, waving. Tang Rou waves back, smiling.
“And this is River Sunrise,” Ye Xiu continues, nodding at Wenqing this time. “I’ll explain more later, let’s head upstairs first, xiao Chun can manage the counter.”
Tang Rou hums in agreement, standing to lead the way up the stairs as Ye Xiu gestures for Mucheng and Wenqing to follow. Mucheng’s gaze darts to Ye Xiu and Wenqing for a brief moment before her eyes crinkle in a smile under the brim of her cap and she skips ahead to keep pace with Tang Rou instead, leaving Ye Xiu to shake his head fondly, stepping around the counter and reaching for Wenqing’s hand.
He hums contentedly when Wenqing curls his fingers tight around Ye Xiu’s own, his thumb rubbing against the back of Ye Xiu’s hand. Ye Xiu steps closer to Wenqing and tugs him along to follow the two girls, savouring the way the decreased distance allows Wenqing’s coffee and woodsmoke scent to envelope him like an old, familiar blanket.
Wenqing lets out a pleased sound of his own and steps closer as well.
“Come on, old Han,” Ye Xiu says, grinning. “Did you know that my boss is a crazy Su Mucheng and Ye Qiu fan? I wanna see how she’ll react when she sees you.”
“And Mucheng?” Wenqing asks lowly, ever mindful of the crowd around them, and Ye Xiu laughs.
“Yes, and Mucheng.”
Wenqing snorts at that, and Ye Xiu grins. Oh, it’s been so long since he’s actually seen his alpha, and now that he’s finally with Wenqing once again, he can definitely tell that the previous fatigue and dizziness was bond neglect, because the feeling had faded the moment Wenqing’s scent enveloped him.
When the four of them reach the living area above the cafe, Chen Guo is already there, seated on the couch and using her phone. She looks up when they walk in, eyebrows rising when she sees the two heavily bundled up guests trailing behind Ye Xiu and Tang Rou.
“Ye Xiu’s friends,” Tang Rou says in explanation as she gestures for them to take a seat. “They play with us in the tenth server too.”
“My adopted sister, actually,” Ye Xiu says. “And my mate.”
“...didn’t you say that your mate was in City Q?”
“He lives there, but he was here for work today, and- well, it’ll make more sense once you can see their faces, I suppose.”
With dramatic flair, Mucheng tugs off her cap and mask, grinning that mischievous smile of hers that almost everyone who knew about their relationship blamed him for. Immediately, Chen Guo’s jaw drops, eyes bugging out, and even Tang Rou blinks, looking surprised.
“Su-“ Chen Guo stutters, staring at Mucheng. “Su- Su Mucheng?”
“Hi!” Mucheng chirps, smiling brightly. “Yep, I’m Su Mucheng, you can just call me Mumu, any friend of Xiu-ge’s is a friend of mine, after all!”
“How- adopted sister- how do you know-“
Ye Xiu laughs a little, and pats Mucheng indulgently on the head. “Boss, I’ve told you this before.”
“Told me-“ Chen Guo splutters, eyes wide. “Told me what? That you knew Su Mucheng? You never told me such a thing!”
“I really did, boss.”
“What? The only thing you ever told me was that dumb joke that you’re- oh. You’re- you’re really-“ Chen Guo trails off mid-sentence, eyes bugging out even further, looking completely wrong-footed.
“You’re really-“ she tries again, mouth opening and closing silently. “You’re really- you’re really God Ye Qiu?”
Ye Xiu sighs, and nods. “Finally you believe me.”
“Wait,” Tang Rou says, blinking. “So if Mumu is Su Mucheng, then who’s Brother Sunrise?”
Chen Guo’s head snaps to the side to took at Wenqing, who’s still in his mask and cap, jacket collar pulled up high around his chin. Ye Xiu can practically see the gears in her head turning, as she stares at Wenqing.
“You said- City Q, for work. The only pro team based in City Q is... Tyranny, unless he isn’t a pro player?”
Mucheng giggles softly. “Xiu-ge having a fated mate who isn’t a pro player? Sounds fake.”
Chen Guo’s eyes widen at what is practically confirmation, and she blanches. “You’re- you’re-“
Standing pressed up against Wenqing’s side, Ye Xiu can feel the way his alpha’s shoulders shake with stifled laughter even as he reaches up to divest himself of his cap and mask.
“Han Wenqing!” Chen Guo all but screeches, loud enough that Ye Xiu is thankful that the residential floors of the cafe are far enough away from the cafe itself so that the patrons can’t hear them. “Your- your mate is- you’re fated mates with Han Wenqing? God Ye Qiu is mated to Han Wenqing, captain of Team Tyranny, Han Wenqing?”
Ye Xiu arches an eyebrow, letting his weight rest against Wenqing. “Do you know another Han Wenqing?”
Curling an arm around Ye Xiu’s waist, Wenqing snorts, resting his chin on Ye Xiu’s shoulder. “I’m sure there must be at least one other Han Wenqing in the country, even if their name is written with different words.”
Ye Xiu blinks, then twists in Wenqing’s hold to narrow his eyes at his alpha. “You, be quiet.”
Wenqing’s laughter rumbles warmly against Ye Xiu’s back, and he can’t help the way he sinks into the feeling, eyes fluttering shut momentarily without his consent as his instincts bask in the presence of his mate after so long apart. Chen Guo’s startled chatter quickly becomes white noise when Wenqing hums lowly, nuzzling lightly against Ye Xiu’s cheek.
Wenqing’s arm tightens briefly around his waist, his palm curving curiously over Ye Xiu’s belly before he pulls back, the slightest of smiles playing at his lips. “You gained weight. Have you been eating better since you left Excellent Era?”
Ye Xiu pauses. He should have guessed that Wenqing would have noticed the difference- his alpha was notoriously insistent about correcting Ye Xiu’s admittedly atrocious eating habits, after all.
Before he can say anything, though, Wenqing shifts to press a kiss against the side of Ye Xiu’s throat, right above the scent suppressing patch that hid Ye Xiu’s mating mark. The gesture sends warmth curling through Ye Xiu’s veins, his body melting against Wenqing’s briefly before his alpha stiffens behind him, pressing his nose against Ye Xiu’s scent gland and inhaling deeply, then straightening.
Ah. Ye Xiu had forgotten that his mate would be able to smell the change in his scent that pregnancy had wrought upon him, and at this distance, not even the scent suppressing patch would hide it.
“Xiu, you-” Wenqing starts, the hand that he had over Ye Xiu’s belly curving almost protectively around him now.
Vaguely, Ye Xiu registers the sound of a door closing as Tang Rou ushers the rest away, but most of his attention is taken by the way Wenqing’s other arm comes around to encircle him fully, both hands over Ye Xiu’s barely showing bump. There is something shaky in Wenqing’s voice, a barely audible quiver that is only enhanced by the way his scent envelopes Ye Xiu, a sort of desperate hopefulness in the way it is a little sweeter, a little brighter, around the edges.
He’d always known that Wenqing had wanted pups, but he hadn’t realised just how much his alpha wanted them. Not until now, when everything about Wenqing screams his anticipation.
The little knot of nerves that had grown in the pit of Ye Xiu’s stomach undoes itself, and he wriggles in Wenqing’s embrace until he is facing his mate, matching his smile for smile. He takes Wenqing’s hand in his own and brings it to rest above his bump, then nods.
Ye Xiu hears Wenqing’s breath hitch in his throat, feels the way Wenqing nuzzles against his skin. He reaches up to peel the scent suppressor away from his skin, and feels the way that Wenqing tenses, then melts against him, pressing his cheek to Ye Xiu’s scent glands.
Wenqing hums lowly, his thumb stroking rhythmically over Ye Xiu’s belly. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
Ye Xiu laughs softly, and laces their fingers together. “I just found out myself this morning, old Han. But now that we know… maybe it’s finally time to put that apartment you bought to good use, hm?”
“You-” Wenqing starts, eyes widening. His scent goes sharp with surprise, then mellows into delight as he presses a kiss to Ye Xiu’s forehead. “You’ll come to City Q with me?”
“Well, it wouldn’t do to let our pup live without their dad, right?”
Wenqing’s smile is like the rising sun.
“I can’t believe you!” Mucheng’s cry is as indignant as Ye Xiu had predicted she’d be, and he ducks unashamedly behind Wenqing when she begins hitting him lightly with closed fists.
“I’m pregnant, you shouldn’t be violent to me,” Ye Xiu protests. “Old Han, you’re my alpha, protect me!”
Wenqing looks between the two of them, raising an eyebrow, and Ye Xiu lets out a betrayed yelp when his alpha just shrugs and steps out of the way.
“I told you to see a doctor when you were vomiting in the mornings, but no, you kept insisting that it was just food poisoning or something! Food poisoning doesn’t happen for weeks, Xiu-ge!”
Wenqing laughs, finally stepping in to tug Ye Xiu behind him when Ye Xiu pouts at him. “You know, Xiu, she has a point.”
“See! Captain Han agrees!” Mucheng’s own pout puts Ye Xiu’s to shame, and he can only shake his head in fond exasperation as he reaches over to ruffle her hair.
“I’ll be going with old Han to City Q, he bought an apartment that we were going to live in after we both retired. Take care of xiao Tang for me, will you?”
Mucheng blinks, then blinks again. It is only the long years that he has known her, the fact that he practically raised her, that allows Ye Xiu to see the hint of melancholy in her eyes.
He knows how she feels. This is the first time that they will be apart since they’d met, but Mucheng is a grown woman now, capable of taking care of herself, and Ye Xiu knows that he has to trust that she will be fine.
Then Mucheng smiles. “Go, go, I'll be fine here, and I can always call you if I need anything! Besides, once my contract with Excellent Era is over, I’ll be free to go anywhere I want, so you better not say I can’t visit you! And I better be the first person after you two to meet my niece or nephew, okay?”
Ye Xiu laughs. “You don’t need to wait for your contract to be over to visit me, Mucheng. You can come during New Year's break too, or when Excellent Era has matches in City Q.”
“Or,” Wenqing rumbles, a smile of his own playing at his lips. “You could join Tyranny.”
Ye Xiu pauses. “Wait, old Han, what-”
“Tyranny has been looking to overhaul its roster soon anyway- our boss and sponsors are determined to take home another championship, and they aren’t afraid to spend to get it,” Wenqing’s statement is matter-of-fact, and Ye Xiu can only stare.
…It made sense, though. Other than Bai Yanfei’s elementalist and select few of Immovable Rock's skills, Tyranny was somewhat lacking in the crowd control department, and adding Mucheng’s All-Star launcher to the lineup could only help matters.
“And of course, Tyranny wouldn’t say no to God Ye Qiu himself,” Wenqing continues, curling an arm around his waist. “By the time your one-year wait is over, our pup should be grown enough for you to rejoin the Alliance.”
Ye Xiu can’t help the way he freezes, unable to process the words for a long moment. Somehow, he’d never considered the possibility of joining an already established team, not even his alpha’s team. But now that Wenqing had made the offer, and the timeline made sense… he didn’t see any reason to refuse.
And he had to admit, that it would be a dream come true, to win a championship side-by-side with Wenqing.
“You wanted to bring Lord Grim to the peak, right?” Wenqing asks. “Let me help you get him there, Xiu.”
Ye Xiu laughs, and turns to press a chaste kiss against Wenqing’s lips. “How can I say no to that?”
A week after the end of the Season Eight playoffs, social media is promptly taken by storm.
