Maybe... I don't need to find myself

Summary:

The Metal Virus saga is coming to an end, but... an unexpected ending...
Maybe Dr. Starline's words were true, but after this event... everything... he... was lost...

Notes:

Hello, hello!!
Yeah, this is my first story (I'm tired of just imagining scenarios with ChatGPT).
Okay... You know, my native language is not English, so if I make any mistakes, please let me know! 🩷

Um... I don't know if it's good or not, but I really, really love amnesia stories, and I'm a Sonic fan, sooo... yep. I think you already noticed that! šŸ˜†šŸ˜†šŸ˜†

This story is about IDW issues #30, #31, #32, and more.
WHAT IF SONIC THE HEDGEHOG NEVER GOT HIS MEMORY BACK AFTER THE METAL VIRUS?

This is the subject of my story. Okay, let's go and read it!!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

chapter 1

Mobius/Angel island

"I-I-It’s o-o-over, S-S-Sonic! Th-The M-M-Metal V-V-Virus is g-g-gone!"

(Super Silver said as he floated beside Super Sonic in space.)

"I-I-I k-know... N-Now w-we h-have to g-get r-r-rid of t-this c-c-cursed s-s-stone!"

(Sonic said, struggling to control the Warp Topaz.)

On Angel Island, all eyes were fixed on the sky, watching the two legendary heroes shine like twin stars. A special kind of hope gleamed in everyone's eyes. The nightmare of the Metal Virus, after weeks of chaos, was finally coming to an end… Nothing could ruin this moment.

Amy Rose stared at the sky, a mix of excitement and fear in her heart. "It's over... Finally... This nightmare is over! When they come back, I'm hugging Sonic! I'll tell him how much I respect him for this!!"

But... No... Wait...

An explosion—

And Silver… the only one left…

Wait… then where’s Sonic?

Ā

---

Amy ran up to Silver.
"Are you okay? It’s over now, right? What happened?!"

Knuckles and Tails helped Silver to his feet.

"It’s over... The Metal Virus is gone... for good... But there was one thing Dr. Starline was right about—the Warp Topaz couldn't handle that much power. Sonic tried to send it into the Warp Portal, but..."

Amy covered her mouth in shock. "Oh… no..."

But Knuckles refused to believe it. This kind of thing had happened to Sonic too many times before.
"Hah! He’s messing with us. Any second now, he’ll come flying down all flashy, showing off!" Knuckles scoffed with a smirk.

But the others weren’t so sure.

Minutes passed. People slowly began returning to their towns and villages. Dr. Eggman, seizing the opportunity, slipped away from the island.

Amy still couldn’t accept it—the love of her life was gone… forever. She begged Tails to find a way to bring him back, but even Tails didn’t know where to start.

Knuckles kept his eyes locked on the sky. "He’ll be back..."

But… would he?

Where was our legendary hero?

Chapter 2

Summary:

- "You'll stay with us, right?"

+ "Yes... forever!"

Notes:

I exaggerated a bit... Well, because of that damn exam, I can't write all the time, but maybe if I choose late at night, I can at least publish one chapter!

Endless Space / An Unknown Galaxy

Without any destination, he moved through the endless void of space, unaware of his own existence. His speed surpassed even the speed of light, causing distortions in space that allowed him to travel vast distances in mere seconds.

It wasn’t long before he ended up somewhere familiar…

The Sol Dimension – Blaze the Cat’s World

The princess stood on the balcony of her room, gazing at the sky.

"Your Highness, I bring the nightly report." (Gardon, a koala, approached Blaze calmly.)

"Proceed, Gardon." (Blaze replied with an emotionless tone.)

"There’s nothing to report, my lady. Everything is peaceful!" (Gardon said with a smile.)

Blaze let out a relieved sigh and smiled.

"May this report remain the same for all the nights to come!"

Suddenly, Gardon pointed at the sky. "My lady, a shooting star! Make a wish!"

"I wish for this peace to last forever..."

But… was that really a shooting star? No… That wasn’t right. A hero burning, dying, was no shining comet…

Because stars, in their final moments, shine brighter than ever—but was Sonic a star?

He kept drifting lifelessly, and no one knew where his final destination would be…

Ā

Mobius

On Angel Island, Knuckles lay atop the Master Emerald, staring at the sky. ā€œWhy aren’t you coming back, dammit?ā€

In Green Hill, things weren’t the same. Many were still searching for their loved ones after the Metal Virus crisis. Normally, the Resistance would help, but right now… they carried a heavy grief.

That night, Amy couldn’t sleep. She kept thinking about Sonic, about his disappearance, about that explosion… Why hadn’t Sonic and Silver switched places instead?

In his workshop, Tails was deep in thought, trying to come up with a plan to either bring Sonic back or find a way to locate him.

Whisper remained as silent as ever, while Tangle tried to stay hopeful—just like Sonic would.

Silver couldn’t stay with the others… He had to return to the future. Had Sonic’s sacrifice saved it?

The Chaotix were flooded with missing person reports, receiving them at all hours of the day.

Cream prayed that Mr. Sonic was safe and had really returned to the island.

Rouge soared through the skies, hoping to find a trace of the blue blur… or Omega.

Shadow owed his life to Sonic—twice. But now, it was too late.

The only one benefiting from all this was Dr. Eggman. Even Dr. Starline seemed disheartened by these events.

Eggman grinned as he looked at Orbot and Cubot.

"I can’t believe that pesky blue nuisance is gone!" (He laughed wickedly.)

"Now that Sonic’s gone, what’s the plan, boss?" (Orbot asked.)

"Good question, tin-can! A flawless attack… with the help of my dear old friend, Omega!" (He spoke with dark satisfaction.)

Eggman had a wicked plan, and with Sonic out of the picture, now was the perfect time to execute it. Nothing could stand in his way…

Ā

---

Endless Space

He was still falling… The farther he went, the closer he got to nothingness. He was nearing the abyss… If he entered, it would all be over.

But no. Light always prevails over darkness.

Something stopped him from entering the abyss—a portal. A portal that had seemingly opened by accident or mistake.

But no matter how it happened… it saved a life.

It saved a star.

He crashed onto the ground of the world beyond the portal, creating a deep crater upon impact.

But… where was he?

A planet inhabited by intelligent life… or at least, once inhabited. Decades ago, a robot revolution had occurred, wiping out all organic beings. The machines ruled this world now.

It was unexpected, wasn't it? At least, it was for me as the writer! I'd love to hear your thoughts—leave a comment!

In Unknown Planet in Space

Beep... Beep... Beep... Beep...

His ears twitched unconsciously. Slowly, his awareness rose, but he still couldn't open his eyes.

(Author’s note: Yeah, we said they’re all robots, but they’ve advanced so much that they’re 80% like living beings, especially in terms of emotions and daily routines.)

A girl approached the bed where Sonic lay. She had blue eyes capable of scanning and legs that could transform into rockets. She was a humanoid robotic dog.

Girl: "I think it's time for you to wake up!"

But there was no response.

Girl: "I don’t have all day, why aren’t you getting up?" (She said impatiently.)

A few moments passed, and the girl reluctantly left the room, though she kept checking in every few minutes.

Hours later, he finally began to wake up. By chance, the girl entered the room for the thousandth time at that very moment.

He opened his eyes and stared at his surroundings… A pale pink room with white furniture. In less than five seconds, his gaze met hers.

"Hello!! I’m HWBO421! But everyone calls me Amanda!" (She said excitedly.)

He didn’t respond.

Amanda thought he might not understand her language, so she repeated the sentence in 647 living languages of their galaxy.

"Please... stop..." (He finally spoke.)

"You're such a buzzkill!" (Amanda pouted.)

He stared at her and replied in a slow, quiet tone. "Am I... a buzzkill? I don’t know... Hey, where am I? And why... why can’t I remember anything?!"

"Oh, right! So, you fell out of one of the portals we accidentally created. All I know is that you're an ultra-advanced model, 100% similar to a living being! To be honest, if it weren’t for the insane amount of energy inside you, we wouldn’t have even believed you were a robot!"

"What do you mean by energy?" (He asked, curiosity creeping into his voice.)

"Well, you—"

Another robot entered the room, interrupting their conversation.

"Alright, Amanda, it's time for you to leave the room."

This robot looked a few generations older. It had emotions similar to living beings but a metallic face with glowing blue lights and digital eyes. (Like that fanart where Sonic and Amy were drawn in Wall-E’s art style.)

"Ugh, fine! Oh, wait, you haven’t told me your name yet!" (Amanda pouted.)

He hesitated. His name? What was his name? The only thing that came to mind was Mr. Spiky Hedgehog, but that sounded ridiculous.

"I... I don’t know..." (He lowered his head and said softly.)

"Hey, hey, it's okay! We’ll pick a name for you! Since we don’t know your model number, we can’t give you an official name, but a casual one... What about Alex?"

"Alex?"

"Yeah! That way, it’ll be Amanda, Luka, and Alex!" (Amanda pointed at herself, the older robot, and him.)

"I like it... I’m Alex, and you’re Amanda, and you’re Luka." (He said slowly.)

Luka: "Technically, my name is Kjuz80, but yeah, I’m Luka."

Luka continued, "Alright, Amanda, you should leave now. I need to run some tests on Alex."

"Okay! See you later, Alex!" (Amanda ran out.)

Mobius

Amy was at the ruins of the Restoration HQ (formerly the Resistance base), buried in paperwork.

"I can’t do this..." (Her voice was heavy with sorrow.)

Every second, her thoughts drifted back to Sonic… to him and their adventures. She remembered all the pain she endured in those few weeks—the moment she was just seconds away from turning into a mindless Zombot under the Deadly Six’s control, yet she had kept going.

"Oh, Sonic... You sacrificed yourself for us, and I... I have to keep going, for you..." (Her voice was exhausted and sad.)

"I just wish I had some help..."

A few seconds later, a young woman in a formal uniform and high heels entered the ruins.

"Miss Rose? Did I get the address right?"

Amy straightened herself up.

"Of course. What can I do for you? Oh, and please, call me Amy. And you are?"

"I’m Jewel! Tangle’s friend, and the curator of the Spiral Hill Village Mineral Museum. I heard you’ve been under a lot of pressure lately, so I thought, with your permission, I could take over running the Restoration."

"Oh, you’re a lifesaver, Jewel! Unlike a certain echidna I know, I’ll make sure you know everything before I step down!" (For the first time, Amy’s voice carried a sense of relief and hope.)

Ā

---

Meanwhile, Tails was trying to cope with Sonic’s absence. As his first step, he and Tangle had gone to the mine where the Metal Virus outbreak began, hoping to check in on the ones responsible—Rough and Tumble.

"I think they’re down here! Should I drop my tail?" (Tangle asked, full of energy.)

"Yeah, Tangle, drop it." (Tails’ voice was calm yet sad, but he tried to smile.)

As soon as Tangle pulled them out of the pit, those idiots ran off without so much as a thank-you.

"Looks like they want to go back to jail!" (Tangle smirked mischievously.)

"That is… if they don’t get lost on the way!" (Tails chuckled.)

Seeing Tails finally smile and show some enthusiasm, Tangle asked him,

"So, how are you feeling? I mean, about Sonic… How are you dealing with it? He was always like a big brother to you, and—"

"I’m fine, Tangle... Believe me."

"I’m serious, little dude."

"I’m serious too! Sonic has never let me down. He’s always succeeded! Even in worse situations!" (Tails tried to sound hopeful, but there was a slight crack in his voice.)

"Well, in that case, how about we throw a party at my place and invite everyone?! I’m sure if Sonic were here, he’d do the same!" (Tangle placed her hand on Tails’ shoulder excitedly.)

"Yeah, I agree! A party for Sonic!"

"Exactly! We’re inviting everyone! And it’s happening tonight! Though… too bad Silver went back to the future."

"Yeah... He should’ve been here for this."

The two laughed as they headed back to the Restoration HQ to spread the word.

Is Alex a good name? Idk

Chapter Text

Mobius

Eggman was finalizing his project for an attack. On one hand, he was satisfied, but on the other, he felt a strange sense of longing and sadness for Sonic. Yes… longing. No matter how evil he was, the remnants of Mr. Tinker still existed within him, trying to steer him in a different direction.

"Orbot, Cubot! Report!" Eggman barked.

"Bad news, boss."

"The Zombots have caused serious damage to your bases, especially when the Deadly Six took control of them," Orbot continued.

"Zavok was defeated and easily imprisoned. The other five are free, but there’s no sign of them."

Eggman smirked wickedly. "Then there’s no need to worry about executing my plan!"

"Boss, can I ask… what happened to your apprentice?"

"That’s the problem—I don’t know." Eggman’s voice turned thoughtful. "They opened a diversion portal, and I… well, I threw him in. Now, he could be anywhere."

Ā

---

Starline’s Hideout

"Why doesn’t that doctor realize the flaws in his methods?"

Starline paced back and forth in his warehouse, laughing nervously to himself.

"Eggman is undoubtedly a genius, but he’s useless when it comes to execution. And Sonic… he had the potential I was expecting, but he’s just… reckless."

He stopped, tapping his fingers together.

"So much wasted potential. But I see clearly—I can… do better than both of them."

He smirked, his eyes gleaming with ambition.

"Don’t worry, Doctor. I am still loyal, despite your cruelty and ruthlessness. I will conquer the world, surpass you, and go beyond. Maybe then, you’ll finally learn from me."

He threw his head back and laughed—just like Eggman.

Ā

Chaotix Detective Agency – Seaside City

The Chaotix had been overwhelmed with calls. Ever since the Metal Virus crisis, business had been booming. The calls were so frequent that neither of the three detectives had a moment to rest.

Knock knock.

Vanilla, Cream, and Cheese stepped into the office.

"Hello, everyone! You’ve all worked so hard to reunite families, so we brought you some delicious treats to help you keep going!" Cream said excitedly.

Espio took the basket from Gemerl and nodded in thanks. The scent of the treats filled the room, making Charmy drool.

"Vector, even at the peak of the outbreak, you were incredibly selfless," Vanilla said in her soft, kind voice.

"Oh, well… it’s—it's just part of being a good detective, ma’am!" Vector stammered, his cheeks turning as red as tomatoes.

"Please, call me Vanilla."

"O-oh! Alright!"

Just then, another call came in. The ringing was getting annoying.

Taking Vanilla and Cream’s advice, the Chaotix decided to step away from work for a bit while they handled the calls. Vector tried to act normal, but it was obvious—he had strong feelings for Vanilla. And she knew it well.

Ā

Forest Cliffs

Shadow stood atop a floating rock, staring into the horizon. Usually, he thought about Maria. But this time… his thoughts were different.

He was thinking about Sonic.

As the Ultimate Lifeform, he had failed to endure. If he had just listened to that blue hedgehog… he could still be alive.

"Finally found you. Do you know how hard it was to track you down?" Rouge called out, a mix of concern and frustration in her voice.

Silence.

"Things have calmed down, but I still haven’t found any trace of Sonic or Omega."

She frowned, crossing her arms. "Are you even listening to me?!"

"Yes."

"You’re more distant than usual. Ugh, fine, I’ll just be blunt—are you gonna talk about it, or should I pry?"

"I owed him. And now he’s gone. That’s all." Shadow’s voice was heavy, but firm.

Rouge sighed and changed the subject.

"There’s a party tonight at Spiral Hill. You coming?"

"I’ll pass."

Rouge smirked. "Figured. But hey, it was worth a shot."

Ā

A Mysterious Planet in Space

Sonic—no, Alex—was slowly adapting to his surroundings. He had come to accept that, like the other inhabitants of this planet, he was a robot.

For now, the only ones he trusted were Amanda and Luka—the only ones he really knew.

"So… you guys are trying to make yourselves resemble organic beings? But why? I mean, we’re already perfect as we are." Alex asked, his voice filled with curiosity.

Amanda opened her mouth to answer, but Luka spoke first.

"Not we. Just you. You’re the perfect version. We still need upgrades. The Robot Revolution was the worst thing that ever happened to our planet. We try to be like the creators of our ancestors, so we can understand the world better."

Amanda added, "Our greatest achievement is the ability to eat! I’m sure you have that capability too, Alex!"

She left the room and returned holding something orange with green leaves. "Living beings called this a carrot! I don’t have a sense of taste, but I’m sure you do! Try it!"

She handed the carrot to Alex, who took a bite.

"Hmm… interesting taste!"

Hours passed as Amanda and Luka tested Alex’s abilities. Finally, they decided to take him outside and show him their world.

"Alright, Alex! Let’s go outside and show you our planet!"

Alex grinned. "That sounds awesome, Amanda! I can’t wait to see my new home!"

Outside, everything was fascinating. Holographic trees and plants, humanoid robots (both animal-like, insect-like, and human-like), a completely white sky and ground... everything had a special order. It was like a true matrix.

"About 200 years ago, our ancestors revolted against their masters and wiped out the human race. But after some years, they regretted it, and because they couldn’t bring the living beings back, they decided to evolve to become perfect like them." (Luca spoke like a philosopher.)

"Hey, the Robot Uprising doesn’t sound too bad."
"Yeah, but it’s damaging the entire ecosystem of our planet, and eventually our whole system." (Amanda responded worriedly.)

Suddenly, the white sky turned black.

"What was that?"
"We call this the change from day to night," Amanda said.
Luca continued, "Natural day and night cycles can’t happen here because of the ecological changes. That’s why our leader designed a way to change day and night artificially and regularly."

"Hey, looks like we’re having fireworks tonight! Alex, come with me!" (Amanda said excitedly and started running.)
"Wait, Amanda! What’s fireworks?!" (Alex asked curiously.)

"Come and see for yourself!"

Luca caught up to Alex. "Fireworks were a pastime of living beings where they’d launch explosive projectiles into the sky, creating a display."

Alex smiled. "It must be something cool!"

"Amanda, it’s starting!!"

The first shell was launched into the sky, exploding with a soft bomb sound.
The second one was similar, but the third shell was larger, making a bigger explosion.
Alex instinctively took a step back and muttered under his breath, "It exploded... e-explosion... Warp Topaz..."
Luca noticed his strange reaction.
"Are you okay?"
Alex quickly recovered, "What? Of course, I’m fine!" (As the words repeated in his mind, it felt like Alex was caught in a void, realizing something.)

Luca smiled with his digital screen.
"Great! Now let’s enjoy the rest of the show!"

Notes:

What do you think will happen next? Do you think Sonic will definitely come to believe he's a robot? (Right now, he’s about 80% convinced.)

Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed the story so far! I can’t promise when the next part will be released, but I will definitely post it! I’m not like some writers who create a masterpiece and then after a year you check and see they've only written 8 chapters and abandoned the story...

Okay, okay, I’ve talked too much... don’t forget to leave a comment! See you soon! :>

Chapter 5

Summary:

"As long as we're together, no one, not even Eggman, can defeat us! Though, I do prefer being alone... but oh well!!!"

Chapter Text

Mobius

A grand celebration was being held at Tangle’s house, and everyone was there—except for Shadow. A beautiful ice sculpture of their unmatched hero, Sonic, had been made in his memory. Everything was perfect, and nothing could ruin the joy of the heroes who had defeated the Metal Virus. Well… maybe not for everyone. Whisper was among those who avoided loud and energetic parties, preferring instead to watch from a quiet corner.

She was also upset about something else—some of the people there were normally considered enemies.

"Hey, Whisper! Enjoy the party!"

Tangle’s voice was as carefree and cheerful as ever.

But Whisper couldn’t enjoy it. Everything felt unbearable…

On the other side of the party, Rouge was enjoying the love of her life—jewels! Though, only from behind glass.

Tails was setting up the fireworks show.

"And done! Alright, everyone, gather around! The main event is ready!"

Slowly, all the guests gathered in the yard. Amy was trying to look okay. Beside her stood Jewel and Espio. Tangle ran over to Tails to start the fireworks.

Amy gave a soft glance… inside, she felt an overwhelming sense of longing and sorrow—regret for the days that were lost.

"I'm sure if Sonic were here, he’d love this…"

Suddenly, Rouge placed a hand on Amy's shoulder. Her voice was warm and reassuring.
"I'm sure our blue boy is in a better place, darling. I bet he’s watching the sky and these fireworks from somewhere far away."

---

Unknown Planet in Space

Alex, Amanda, and Luka were still watching the fireworks.

Alex’s eyes shone as he stared at the glowing lights in the sky. The explosions of color spread across the darkness, yet something inside him felt heavy. The sound of crackling fireworks echoed in his ears, and for a moment, his mind filled with blurry images—shadows he couldn’t quite recall, voices that sounded distant…

Amanda beamed. "Well, this is one of the best night shows we’ve ever had! I’m so glad you got to see it, Alex!"

Luka, always the observant one, glanced at Alex’s face and noticed his dazed expression. With a quieter voice, he asked, "You okay? You kinda zoned out for a second."

Alex blinked and pulled his gaze away from the sky. "Huh? Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. It’s just… I feel weird. Like…" He paused, unsure how to describe it. "Like I’ve seen this before, but I don’t remember when or where."

Amanda’s eyes lit up.
"Maybe it’s a memory from your past! That means you really are a flawless being, Alex! You even have recall abilities!"

Alex laughed and looked at Amanda. "You’re right! Looks like I really am perfect! But it’s not enough… those moments… those memories… they’re too far away… completely out of reach…"

Luka spoke up.
"Well, maybe we can analyze it in the lab."

"Analyze?"

"Yeah! We need to learn from you, and it’ll help you too."

Slowly, they left the fireworks behind and followed Luka to wherever he was leading them.

---

Mobius

The fireworks were still going on. Everyone was watching the sky with satisfied smiles… but suddenly—

"I see everyone’s enjoying the party!! Well, I’m here to put an end to it!!"

Eggman burst into the scene with a giant robot, smashing through Tangle’s yard wall.
"Tremble before me, fools! I, Dr. Eggman, am here to ruin this ridiculous celebration! Thanks for gathering in one place—it makes destroying you so much easier!"

Panic spread throughout the crowd. Eggman looked determined. Sonic wasn’t there to finish the fight this time… but the heroes had to stop this rotten egg and his oversized robot without him.

"Amy, what are the orders?"

Whisper asked in her usual quiet voice.

"I—I don’t know! Ask Jewel, she’s the new head of Restoration!"

Amy’s voice was stressed.

"Jewel, what’s the plan?"

"WHAT?! I don’t know!! I just handle paperwork!!"

As everyone was occupied with Eggman, the Babylon Rogues decided to take advantage of the situation and pull off a robbery…

But Rouge was smarter than them.

"Wait… where are the jewels?!"

Jet asked in confusion.

"Even though I should turn these in, they’re currently my spoils of war!" Rouge responded smugly, standing proudly next to her stash.

Back in the battle, Vector had taken charge, organizing the heroes into smaller teams for coordinated attacks to slow Eggman down.

Tails shouted, "It’s no use! He’s using Omega as a power source!"

Rouge, who had already dealt with the Babylon Rogues, turned to Tails.
"Maybe Shadow will be willing to help."

Tails nodded.

Amy yelled, "Hurry, Rouge! Whatever you do, just do it fast!"

Rouge spread her wings and took off.

Tails was frantically trying to hack into Eggman’s system.

And everyone else? They were doing everything they could to slow Eggman down and, ultimately, stop him…

Unknown Planet in Space

"Strange, you don’t have a USB port anywhere."
Luca said as he circled around Alex.

"Then how did you run tests on him when he woke up?"
A little farther away, Amanda was sitting on the lab table, crossing her legs and lightly swinging one foot.

"At that time, I scanned his body using a scanner, just like when he was unconscious!"

They've done so much work on me… Wait a minute!
"Ahh! What’s that sound?!"
Alex asked in panic.

"What sound? What are you talking about, Alex?"

"I was talking to myself… while my mouth was shut!"

"Umm… what?"
Amanda said.

Luca: "He's saying that while he was silent, he actually heard his own voice speaking. But well, that’s kinda weird."

"Okay, got it."

"Alex, why don’t you have a USB port?"

"Am I supposed to have one? What even is a USB?"
Amanda suddenly jumped into the conversation, pressed the side of her head, and suddenly, her nescafƩ-colored fur peeled back, revealing two connector ports.

"A USB is a type of cable, but a USB port looks like this!"

"Interesting... I must have one, right?"

"No."
Luca’s digital eyes turned blank.

A few moments later, Luca asked Alex to move to another part of the lab to at least determine whether the immense energy in his body was his fuel or some kind of extraterrestrial power.

"Do I need to do anything?"

"No, Alex. Just sit and stay calm while I run the tests."

Luca sat behind the advanced system and was about to start working by pressing a button.

"Oh, oh, can I press it?" Amanda asked.

"Go ahead."

Luca stepped back slightly and let Amanda press the button.
Amanda leaned forward and pressed the blue button.

Meanwhile, Luca attached a series of wires all over Alex’s body using a special adhesive. (Author: Kinda like those things they use in physiotherapy.)

"What are these?" Alex asked softly.

"They're the same things that were connected to you when you woke up. They scan your body's energy."
Alex just blinked a few times, looking at Luca in acknowledgment. (Author: Usually, people blink when they don’t understand something, but my logic is different.)

Mobius

Rouge had finally found Shadow.

"Eggman attacked."

"Your problems are none of my concern..."

"He's using Omega as well."

Shadow glanced at Rouge from the corner of his eye.
Rouge spread her wings and hovered in the air.
"This way."

In Tangle’s village, Eggman’s attacks had gotten more serious. Everyone was fighting back, but Sonic's absence was painfully obvious…
Tails was standing in a hidden spot, still struggling to hack into Eggman’s system.

"Ughhh, why can't I do it?!" Tails groaned, throwing his device to the ground.

"We’re here!" Rouge’s voice was heard in the distance.

Amy glanced beside her and saw Shadow approaching rapidly, with Rouge flying overhead.

"Chaos Control!"
Shadow disappeared and, within seconds, had freed Omega.

"What?! Why can't I ever have peace from you blasted hedgehogs?!"
Eggman yelled in frustration, glaring at Shadow.

All the fighters stepped back as Shadow took over the battlefield…

End.

"You fools think you’ve won?! Of course not! I was just warming up!!!"
Eggman shouted in rage as he started retreating in his flying craft. Within seconds, Shadow also… disappeared.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief as Jewel jumped into the center of the group.

"Not to ruin the mood or anything, but we have a problem!"
Jewel pointed behind them, and as everyone turned, they saw… fire.

"Alright, guys, let’s put out the fire!!!"
Amy said with a falsely optimistic tone.

Everyone worked together, laughing and having fun while putting out the flames.

I did well on yesterday's exam! Congrats to me!

Unknown Planet in Space

Alex sat on the chair, staring at Luca and Amanda, who were busy scanning his body.

"This is gonna take a thousand years... So boring."

A few moments later, Alex's eyes landed on a small chamber with frosted glass. Several robots constantly moved in and out of it. What was inside?

"This is impossible!" Luca's voice was filled with shock and excitement.

"What exactly did you find?" Amanda asked.

"The energy inside Alex’s body surpasses anything we’ve ever recorded! Not just living beings—even artificial intelligence can’t withstand this kind of power!"

Alex’s ears twitched as he turned to face Luca and Amanda.

"Were you able to figure out where this energy comes from?"

"Wherever it's from, it's definitely far beyond our galaxy! If I were a superstitious robot, I’d say it’s Chaos Energy—but we all know Chaos Energy and its emeralds don’t actually exist."

"I see..."

Alex’s attention shifted back to the small chamber. For a brief moment, he caught a glimpse inside as the door opened for a few seconds—tall brown cylinders, wide green panels, and spiky green ground.

What were those things?

"Even your body structure resembles that of a living being! I’d love to meet your creator in person, Alex!" Luca said.

"Well, the flawless version of him has already been proven to us long ago!" Amanda added.

"Heh, thanks, guys." Alex chuckled, spinning his chair slightly.

For a few seconds, silence settled between them.

"By the way, guys... What’s inside that chamber?"

Amanda responded first. "We managed to recreate a small portion of the pre-technological world! You should see it for yourself!"

Luca shut off the scanner and motioned for Alex to follow. He pressed a button beside the door and showed his ID card to the floating security robot. Suddenly, Amanda activated the boosters in her legs and began hovering in the air.

"Uh... why are you doing that?"

"Well, we don’t know what happens if those green things on the ground are touched, so... you know, better safe than sorry!"

Wanting to fit in, Alex attempted to hover just like them, but—thud. He crashed straight to the ground.

"Why can't I do it?!"

"I’m sorry. You do not have permission to enter," the security robot stated flatly.

"Oh, come on, C506! I’m sure he can go inside," Luca argued.

"As long as no part of his body comes into contact with the living environment inside," the robot replied.

"Ughhh, I never thought I'd have to do this..." Amanda sighed, floating over and lifting Alex onto her back. And Alex’s reaction? Nothing—except his face turning completely red from embarrassment.
(Author’s note: Before entering, they had to remove any extra accessories, so Alex had already taken off his gloves, socks, and shoes.)

Inside the chamber, everything looked natural—except for the sky and the artificial light shining down.

"These are plants. That carrot you ate before? It was a type of plant. Our scientists discovered that restoring the environment is necessary for survival, and this place is the result of their endless efforts," Luca explained as he flew ahead.

"Not just that! We also managed to recreate some living creatures, like butterflies and ladybugs! There are about five of them here," Amanda added.

"And these tall brown things?" Alex asked.

"Those are trees, Alex. The main source of life across planets—after water, of course. Trees convert carbon dioxide into a gas called oxygen, which living beings used to breathe! About ten years ago, under our master's command, we filled this planet with oxygen and built robots powered by it," Luca said.

"Like me!" Amanda chimed in.

All three of them laughed. But suddenly, Alex lost his balance and fell off Amanda’s back.

At first, panic shot through him. But… the feeling of the soft green plants beneath his bare feet… It was a familiar yet distant sensation. He stood up and pressed his blue-furred feet against the grass, relishing the touch.

He had done this before.
Somewhere else.

"Alex, hurry up before security gets here! Get back on my back!" Amanda urged.

"No… It’s fine! These won’t get damaged!"

Alex laughed and began walking across the grass.

"This feeling... It’s amazing! Amanda, Luca, you have to try it!"

A few steps ahead, a tiny creature with red wings and black spots perched on a leaf. Alex ran toward it and reached out, allowing the little insect to crawl onto his furry hand.

"RULE VIOLATION. RULE VIOLATION."

Several security robots approached Alex, and Amanda and Luca quickly moved to intervene.

"Step aside. This robot has broken the facility's most important rule. He must be punished," one of the guards stated.

"Come on, guys, Alex has memory loss! He didn’t know the rule!" Amanda insisted.

"Then he must be reprogrammed."

Suddenly, Alex started mumbling random, incoherent words.

"Forget about me, Amy… You guys can still keep the resistance going without me..."

"Alex, did you just say something?" Luca asked.

"You guys already managed to take down Eggman and his worthless robots and his junk technology before! Tell Knuckles I said goodbye. He’s a good leader, but… well… I just can’t stand taking orders all the time… You get it, right?"

One of the security robots scoffed. "Did he just call us worthless robots?"

"No, no! Why would Alex disrespect his own kind?!" Amanda quickly covered for him.

"Enough. Alex, that’s enough!" Luca flew closer to Alex but suddenly froze in shock.

Alex was still staring at the ladybug in his hand, smiling softly. But his emerald-green eyes… were completely black.

It was like he was hallucinating.

"Alex, I’m talking to you! Can you hear me?!"

"..."

"ALEX!!!"

Luca shouted this time.

Alex slowly turned his gaze to Luca. Then, in an instant, his eyes reverted to their usual emerald-green color.

"Why are you yelling, Luca? Wait… Are these security guards?"

"Yes, we are. And you are under arrest for breaking the most critical rule of this facility."

"shit…"*

"I told you he has amnesia! Alex, run!"

Alex let out a nervous laugh and dashed toward the exit—but the moment he took off, his speed was so immense that even he didn't realize how fast he had escaped the laboratory.

Luca and Amanda, along with the security robots, rushed after him—only to find that Alex was already gone.

"Oh my god, what the heck was that?!" Amanda exclaimed.

"Since that robot was with you, your access to this facility is now restricted for one month," one of the guards stated.

"WHAT?! NOOO, I DON’T WANNA!!!" Amanda protested.

Luca sighed, picking up Alex’s shoes and socks. "We don’t have time to argue. We need to find him."

Outside the lab, the sky was still dark, with about five hours remaining until the artificial sunrise.

Either way…
Alex was gone.
And they had to find him.

Unknown Planet in Space

An hour had passed, and there was still no sign of Alex.

"Can't he just come back the way he left?!" Amanda said in frustration.

"Come on, Amanda. I'm sure even he doesn't know where he is right now."

"Can't you track his energy?"
Luca paused for a moment.

"You couldn't have said that earlier?"

"You're the smart one here. I thought you'd use that method yourself."

Luca shot Amanda a cold look.

"As I said before, if I were superstitious, I’d say Chaos Energy is flowing through his body. What I mean is, there’s so much of it that we can track it anywhere! Amanda, I need you to activate your scanner!"

"Got it, buddy!"

Amanda activated her eye scanner. The energy trail was everywhere… She followed the strongest one and pointed Luca in the right direction.

The closer they got, the stronger the energy became—until it felt like the source was right next to them!

That’s right. They had found Alex.

He was sitting on the ground in a narrow alleyway in a rough part of the city. Holding his foot, he was panting heavily… It looked like he was just as shocked by his own speed as they were.

"Alex!!"

"A-Amanda? H-How did you find me?"

"Thanks to Amanda’s suggestion, we tracked your energy. Come on, Alex, I couldn't find your gloves, but I brought your shoes and socks."

"Thanks... I don't think I’ll be needing the gloves, though..."

Alex stood up and took his shoes and socks from Luca. At that moment, Amanda smacked his back hard.

"Dude, you were so fast! Can you do it again??"

"What? No! That—that was terrifying!"

"Amanda, stop teasing him."

"Guys, I'm really tired..."

"You? Tired?" Amanda and Luca exchanged looks, then glanced at Alex.

"I don’t know... I feel like I can’t keep my eyes open..."

"Your energy must be running low. With that much Chaos Energy in your body, that’s odd," Luca said.

"What do you even run on, Alex?"

"What? I don’t know… Can we just… go home?"

"Yeah, Alex. We can," Luca reassured him.

When they finally got back, Alex collapsed onto the couch and instantly fell asleep. Running at high speed after not running for so long—plus staying awake for so many hours—had completely drained him.

"Alex, do you need anything?" Amanda asked.

"..."

"I think he's out. Now… how do we turn him back on, Luca?"

"Just give him some time, Amanda. He'll probably reboot by morning."

Mobius

The day after the party, Tails’ workshop was a mess.

He was multitasking—trying to put Omega back together while also searching for Sonic.

"Where did you even find this?" Tails asked Rouge.

"During one of my trips to the Face Ship. Straight from our dear Dr. Eggman’s personal files!"

"Impressive!"

"I was hoping you’d figure it out, genius!"

Amy jumped into the conversation.

"Phew… That’s the last one! I think I’ll skip boxing practice today! You think you can fix him?"

"Thanks, Amy, but I’m not sure. Eggman encrypted this. Without decryption, it’s unreadable!"
Tails paused for a moment before continuing.
"Besides, even if I can read it, Omega needs way more than a simple reset! He practically needs a full rebuild!"

"You know, guys, I’ve been keeping an eye on a certain place lately!" Rouge pulled her phone out of her bag and showed Tails and Amy a picture.

"Wait, Rouge, isn’t that the roller coaster place? What was it called… White Park?" Amy asked.

"Yep! And this is just a small part of it! White Park is the place to find rare treasures—including leftover Eggman tech! That is, if you know who to talk to."

Rouge swiped to another picture.

"Luckily, I do! He’s the reigning champion of the White Park Chao Races! His name is Clutch!"

"Sounds like you’ve been planning this for a while, Rouge…" Amy said, her tone suspicious.

"He’s famous and has hoarded tons of treasures. Why wouldn’t I plan for this? Now, we need one more person before we start!"

Rouge called Vanilla and explained the situation. Cream agreed to come along with Cheese and join Rouge and Amy at White Park for the competition.

In the end, Amy, Rouge, and Cream set off for White Park, while Tails kept searching for a signal from Sonic—all while continuing his work on Omega.

Chapter Text

Unknown Planet in Space

About three hours had passed since daylight broke, and Alex had been sleeping peacefully for nearly eight hours.
Amanda sat in front of Alex, staring at him for the entire eight hours.

"Amanda, aren’t you tired?"

"No. Why won’t it turn on?! Do you have any fuel for it?"

"Last time, it woke up on its own. Maybe it’ll turn on by itself again."

"Oh wow, genius! What an incredible prediction..."

"Get up, Amanda. That’s enough. I don’t know how you sat there for eight hours."

Amanda sighed, finally standing up and walking toward the kitchen.

"A whole month of doing nothing… Ughhh, what do we dooo???" Amanda groaned in frustration.

"We can find a way to make up for the boredom. Right now, we should be worried about Alex. The security guard is still after him," Luca said thoughtfully.

"Oh please, what did he even do?! Just crushed a couple of natural plants!"

"That’s not all… He broke the most important rule: never disrespect the machine species."

"But he wasn’t even in his right mind!!!"

"Do you really think they’ll believe that?"

Slowly, Alex began to move, and after a few moments, he woke up.

Yawning, Alex mumbled, "Hey… Good morning..."

Amanda glanced at him mischievously and responded playfully,
"Ho ho ho, good morning, Mr. Blue! Can you run for me now?!"

"Run? No way… That experience was awful."

"I’d love to know whether your speed is due to energy effects or something else, but unfortunately, there’s nowhere to test it," Luca said.

"Of course, there is! Your secret lab!" Amanda exclaimed excitedly.

"What? No, no, no, no!!! We are NOT going there!" Luca protested.

"Oh, we ABSOLUTELY are, dear!" Amanda grinned.

"Ugh…" Alex groaned under his breath, flopping back down and staring at the ceiling.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang, and moments later, security guards stormed inside.

"Excuse me, do you always barge into people’s homes without permission?!" Amanda shouted angrily.

Among the robotic security guards, one older-generation humanoid robot stepped forward.
"When it comes to maintaining the planet’s security and laws, yes. We do."

"Interesting, interesting… How did you even find Alex?" Amanda asked.

"Energy traces were everywhere. Finding lawbreakers like him is as easy as drinking water!"

"Amanda, was that really a question you needed to ask?..." Luca muttered.

"I-I’m really sorry for crushing those green plants! Please don’t hurt me!" Alex pleaded in fear.

"Those green plants are valuable property, but that’s not why we’re here. Don’t play dumb. You’re coming with us."

Then, the robot turned to Amanda and Luca.
"You two as well."

The security guards attacked, restraining all three of them before dragging them to a transport vehicle, taking them to an unknown location.

Mobius

Amy, Rouge, and Cream were driving in Amy’s car toward White Park when suddenly…

"Well, well, well! Hello, handsome!" Rouge smirked.

Shadow appeared in front of Amy’s car.

"What?! Shadow?!" Amy exclaimed, suspiciously.

"Tch… As always…" Shadow muttered under his breath.

"What are you doing here?" Amy asked.

"It’s none of your business."

"Wait, Shadow! We’re trying to fix Omega. It wouldn’t hurt to lend a hand!"

"Not interested."

Shadow said that and jumped off the road, disappearing from sight.

Amy let out a long sigh. "Why does he always have to be so grumpy…?"

Rouge, trying to lighten the mood, shrugged and said playfully,
"Don’t take it personally, sweetheart. That was actually him being polite… for him."

"Besides that… Why do I feel like I’m going to run into him again?"

Rouge just shrugged, leaned back in her seat, and Amy resumed driving.

After a short drive, they finally arrived.

Rouge stepped ahead of the others, speaking in a mix of playful and serious tones.
"Get ready for some intense con artistry lessons! Remember, ladies, if anyone asks, my name is Miss Fest."

Rouge carried a bag, inside which Omega’s head was stuffed. Suddenly, Omega’s voice emerged from inside.

"I have no legs. This is illogical."

Rouge, not wanting to draw attention, lifted the bag close to her face and whispered,
"I… Just be quiet, Omega… Please."

Then, she pulled the bag away and cautiously addressed the others.
"Alright, girls, act natural. With a bit of luck, no one will recognize us from before."

They all nodded.

"Attention, everyone! This is Omochao speaking! I will be your host today! The Grand Chao Tournament is about to begin! So hurry up and register your Chaos!!!"

A robotic Chao’s voice echoed over the loudspeaker.

Rouge took Cream’s hand and led her toward the registration table.
"I better get you two signed up!"

Meanwhile, Amy went the opposite way.
"I’ll go find a good spot to watch!"

Notes:

I feel like dedicating an entire chapter to Mobius. You know… the events in Mobius are so predictable that I’m basically just copying the dialogue straight from the book next to me (with a little tweaking, of course).
I don’t know, maybe the next chapter will be entirely about Mobius.

Mobius

Rouge and Cream approached the registration desk.

"Excuse me, this little sweetheart is so excited to join the race! Honestly, she just can’t wait! Would it be okay if we…?"

A young woman stood at the desk with a bunch of Chao, trying to register all of them at once.

"Aww, you’re the cutest— absolutely!"

Rouge slyly stepped forward.
"This young lady would like to enter her Chao into the race."

Omochao immediately jumped in, cutting her off.
"Sorry, but kids aren’t allowed to participate in the race."

Rouge hadn’t thought about that... She got flustered for a second but quickly regained her composure.

"Uhh… A-ha-ha! By ā€˜young lady,’ I meant myself! Yep, I’m the young lady!"

"Oh, of course! Please sign here!" Omochao said in its robotic voice.

Rouge signed the race application under the name Miss Fest with Cheese the Chao. Suddenly, an announcement played through the loudspeakers.

"Attention, guests of the Grand Race Mansion! The qualifying race is about to begin!"

Omochao hovered over to the starting line.
"The first 50 Chao to cross the finish line will qualify for our big race tomorrow! Good luck and have a fun race!"

The Chao lined up, ready to compete. Cream leaned down to Cheese and whispered,
"Good luck, Cheese!"

Rouge and Cream headed over to the seats Amy had saved for them. Just as they sat down, Cream turned to Rouge with a disapproving look.

"Miss Rouge, why did you lie? It’s not good to hide the truth!"

Rouge quickly put a finger to Cream’s lips before she could say anything louder.

"Sweetie, my name is Miss Fest! And don’t worry about it— a tiny little white lie won’t hurt anyone."

She gently nudged Cream forward. Suddenly, Gemerl spoke up.
"Deception detected."

Rouge groaned in annoyance. "Ugh… buzzkill…"

Meanwhile, Cream pointed toward the starting line.
"Ha! Look, Cheese is right there!"

Cream glanced at Amy, but Amy seemed lost in thought… thinking about something— about someone— Sonic.

Rouge, noticing this, tried to snap her out of it. She looked around and spotted someone a few rows ahead— Clutch.

"Hey, Amy, chin up. That’s our guy."

Amy lifted her head, looking confused.
"Clutch?"

"If the rumors about him are true, I was still not ready for that much fur," Rouge muttered.

"Alright, let’s not make it obvious," Amy whispered before turning her attention back to the race.

"Oh, I hope Cheese is okay… Don’t give up, Cheese! You can catch up in the flying section!" Cream cheered.

Cheese was giving it everything he had. He wanted to be the best. But he had a tough competitor… Someone who wasn’t going down so easily.

Meanwhile, at Tails’ workshop…

Tails had completely forgotten about the Omega project. He was entirely focused on finding his brother.

"If I were Sonic, where would I go after an explosion in space…?"

Suddenly, an idea struck him like a lightning bolt.
"That’s it! If I can link to a satellite, I can track Chaos Energy and find Sonic!!!"

Tails quickly connected to his satellite and started scanning for any traces of Chaos Energy. But the task was harder than he expected… There were multiple signals across Mobius— the distortion from the Master Emerald, the energy of all seven Chaos Emeralds…

Tails groaned and slammed his head against his desk in frustration. But he refused to give up. He began carefully analyzing each energy signature and tracking their paths.

"I’ll find you, big bro… I promise I’ll bring you back!"

Meanwhile, outside the mansion…

Shadow stood alone, as usual, talking to himself.

"Another dead end… No sign of Eggman’s work here— just pointless games and ridiculous entertainment. I guess the rumor about a robot dealer here was false.

Amy and Rouge are here… And Cream, too… I could— no. Not my problem."

Shadow considered joining them, but something inside him resisted. He turned to leave the area.

But suddenly… What was that?

Notes:

As I mentioned, this chapter was all about Mobius! Oh, my god!! The story is getting more and more interesting! I don’t have any ideas for the next chapter yet, but I’ll come up with something soon and share it with you after the New Year holidays!

Unknown Planet in Space

"Oh my god..." Alex slowly opened his eyes.

The environment around him was strange and dark, but among the darkness, the glow of buttons and computer strips could be seen.

"Where... am I?"

"You’re in the factory. This is the end, Alex. It was nice knowing you, though it was short-lived," Luka said sarcastically, sitting right next to Alex.

"I… How did we get here?"

"They knocked us out."

"Great… Wait, where’s Amanda?"

"... I don’t know."

Suddenly, a door opened, and several robots emerged.
"Well, well, well, Kjuz80 and… wait a second, you're not officially registered?!" One of them, seemingly their leader, spoke in a monotone voice.

"No, I’m not! Tell us where Amanda is!!"
Alex shouted with determination.

"He means HWBO421."
Luka completed Alex’s sentence.

"Oh, right. That outlaw is currently at work. We’ve reprogrammed her—just as we’re about to do with you two."
The robot stepped forward and continued,
"At first, we only planned to rewrite your code (referring to Alex), but then we realized that these two would cause trouble if left alone."

Alex clenched his fists, ready to charge at the robot when, suddenly, he felt his feet leave the ground.

"Don’t worry. KJUZ80, you’ll soon be promoted in rank, and as for you, the perfect version... we’ll make use of you and give you an official name soon."

"This is all because I stepped on those plants?!"

"No… because you broke the rules."

They moved Luka and Alex to another room and placed them inside a machine.

"Code rewriting process initiated."

The voice echoed through the speakers, sending chills down Alex’s spine.

"Hey, Alex... Being with you has really been one of the best experiences of my life, I mean it... I really- really- really—"

Luka’s screen glitched with static.

"Alright, now for the other one."

"Wait! No, hold on!!"
Alex's heartbeat quickened, and his breaths became rapid. Suddenly, blue lightning surged from his body (just like in Sonic Movie 1), shattering the machine and launching him out of it. Uncontrollably, he started running at full speed.

"Damn it! Track his energy signature and bring him back! This is the last time an outlaw escapes us!"
The robot leader barked orders before turning to Luka, who had now been reprogrammed.

"Or maybe not. We’d better make sure he willingly submits to his punishment."

Mobius

Tails was still tracking the Chaos energy, trying to follow all the energy signals across the planet. Right now, he was on the second one.

The tracking was taking a while, but it seemed like he was getting closer to Sonic’s location.

The energy trail continued until... "Wait, this doesn’t make sense! The signal completely vanishes midway! Even though the black hole is close by, that doesn’t explain it. Something like a portal or a wormhole must have shifted its location… Ugh, this is harder than I thought!!"
Tails groaned in frustration, banging his head against the desk.

"But you're doing this for Sonic, right?"
The workshop door opened, and Tangle walked in.

"Tangle! What are you doing here? I thought you were rebuilding your house! And… of course, I am!"

"Hey, that’s true, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to check in on my scientist buddy!"

"Thanks. You know, Sonic has always sacrificed himself, so I’ll do everything I can—"
Tangle cut him off.

"Even if it takes forever?!"

Tails paused, then chuckled. "Exactly!"

Notes:

Yeah… I said it would take two weeks for this chapter to come out, but I couldn’t wait… So, enjoy this chapter!

Chapter 12

Summary:

Even if I'm found guilty, know that I'm innocent!!!

Chapter Text

Unknown Planet in Space

Alex was running toward a place even he didn't know.

"Stop! Please, just stop running!!!" As if his legs would actually stop just because he begged them to.

Finally, after running for what felt like forever, he managed to stop in an alley.

"Okay… now… what do I do?"

Panting, he stepped out of the alley. "Wait… my energy trail! They’ll find me so easily!! I need to get help, but… who would even help me? How can I ask anyone for help…?"

As Alex walked through the streets, suddenly, every screen lit up with a news broadcast.

"Dear citizens, all authorities are searching for an outlaw robot that appears to be a perfect model. This robot is not officially registered but possesses an enormous amount of energy, easily detectable by even the most basic scanners. Its physical traits include: cobalt-blue fur, emerald-green eyes, and a cream-colored muzzle, hands, chest, and stomach. Anyone who finds and turns in this outlaw will receive a promotion and a special reward from our leader."

All the screens turned off at once. Alex slowly lowered his gaze and saw that everyone was staring at him.

"Uh… why are you all looking at me like that?" He chuckled nervously.

Suddenly, the crowd lunged at him. That was the only moment Alex truly wanted to run as fast as he could… for the first time since losing his memory.

He curled into a ball, rolling through the crowd at high speed before continuing to run.

"What the hell is this cursed energy that keeps ruining my life?!!! I need to find Amanda! No matter how much she's changed, I know she’ll help me!"

Alex ran toward Amanda and Luca’s house, not knowing exactly where he was going but hoping he was on the right path. After running through almost the entire city, he finally arrived.

"I really hope she’s home!!!"

Alex started banging on the door. "Please open up!!!"

The door swung open, revealing an annoyed Amanda. "What the hell is your—wait… aren't you that fugitive?"

Alex didn’t answer. He just ran inside and slammed the door behind him.

"What do you think you're doing?! Get out of my house! Actually, no… if I turn you in, I could get a great reward."

"Amanda, please!!"

"What did you just call me?"

"Wh—never mind… so they really… never mind that either."

"Listen, ā€˜perfect model,’ I kinda feel bad for you, so I’ll give you two minutes to get out of here."

"I can’t!"

"Not my problem."

"You don’t understand! They want to do to me what they did to you and Luca! I already lost my memory once… I don’t want it to happen again..." Alex sat in a corner, pulling his knees to his chest.

"Look… no one did anything to me. I’m a new model, and today was my first day on duty. Oh, boy… look, we were actually working on a power suppressor today. The best I can do is give you a pair so they can’t track you through your energy."

Alex jumped up and hugged Amanda. "Amanda, you’re the best! I knew you hadn’t changed!"

Amanda pulled away. "Hey, don’t cling to me! And for the record, I have an official name. It’s HWBO421. And… you don’t have one, so… what do they call you?"

"Alex, at your service! Uh… but I’ll still call you Amanda."

"Alright, whatever…"

Amanda peeked out the window and saw a huge crowd heading toward the house, tracking Alex’s energy.

"Alex, what did you do to get this many people after you?!"

"I, uh… stepped on one of those green plants?"

"They wouldn’t hunt someone down like this just for stepping on a living plant!"

Amanda took a deep breath and headed toward the stairs.

"There’s a hidden lab downstairs. I think I can fix you up there."

"Awesome!"

Amanda grabbed Alex’s hand and led him down the stairs.

A few minutes later

Amanda secured the wristbands around Alex's wrists.
"Here… just please leave now… I don’t want to get into trouble."

"That’s it?..."

"Oh, wait, let me test them first."

Amanda activated her sensors and scanners. No trace of Alex’s energy remained.

"All set… here, let me give you a cloak so they really can’t find you."

"Thanks—"

"Just… leave. I better not see you again!"

"Wow… alright."

Amanda put the cloak on Alex, and he left the house.

"It’ll be okay… Amanda… it’ll be okay…"

"Alex?"

Alex turned around. That voice… it was Luca’s. He took a step back.

"L-Luca?"

"Did you really think they could change me that easily?"

"You were deactivated! Right in front of me!"

"Yeah… but I wasn’t gone."

Alex’s ears twitched as he looked around cautiously.

"Alex, everyone is looking for you right now. I’m the only one who can help you!"

"You’re right…"

Luca moved forward, motioning for Alex to follow.

"The closest energy signature was the one that disappeared near the dungeon…"

"So, Tails, how exactly are you gonna figure out where it vanished?"

"Tangle… look, it’s possible, but I don’t have the right equipment."

"Solution?"

"Eggman."

"Hah, yeah right, like he’d totally welcome us with open arms."

"Tangle!"

"What? For once in my life, I’m being realistic!"

"Yeah, well… Eggman is taking full advantage of Sonic’s absence, but Orbot and Cubot will definitely help."

"Alright, alright… then off to Eggman’s base!" Tangle struck a heroic pose.

Tails smirked. "Let’s do this!"

Tails got up from his chair and, alongside Tangle, set off toward Eggman’s base.

Chapter Text

Unknown Planet in Space

ā€œHow did you manage to escape, Luka?ā€

ā€œBy acting, my friend.ā€

ā€œI don’t get it. How?ā€

Luka was walking in a straight path, while Alex followed behind—though not quite in a straight line like him.

ā€œIt was easy. I just pretended their program was working on me... then escaped at the right time.ā€

ā€œThen why aren’t they chasing you?ā€

ā€œI’ve got my own methods, my friend!ā€

Alex stopped. For a split second, his body glitched, but he didn’t notice.

ā€œAlrightā€¦ā€ he said, then kept walking.

ā€œWhere are we going?ā€ Alex asked.

ā€œA temporarily safe place.ā€

ā€œWhy temporarily?ā€

ā€œWe’re not staying there forever. Just for a few days until things cool down.ā€

Luka turned to say something face-to-face to Alex, but then noticed the power suppressor on his arm. His digital expression shifted.

ā€œWhere did you get those?ā€

ā€œThese wristbands? Well... Amanda gave them to me. She’s changed a lot—way more serious and distant now—but... she helped me. She’s still the best!ā€

ā€œI seeā€¦ā€

Luka turned and continued walking.

ā€œSomething wrong?ā€ Alex asked.

ā€œNo.ā€

ā€œYou’re even colder than Amanda now!ā€

ā€œI don’t think so.ā€

After a few minutes of walking, they reached a strange place. Well, strange to Alex. To Luka, it seemed completely normal.

Alex looked around—and glitched again. This time, he noticed it. It hurt a bit, but he brushed it off, thinking he was just imagining things.

ā€œHey Luka, I heard my voice again without opening my mouth!ā€

ā€œInteresting.ā€

ā€œWhat’s up with you? Total buzzkill!ā€

Luka gave him a drowsy look, then entered the place.

ā€œWait up! I’m coming too!ā€

Alex started to jog, but suddenly tripped and fell to the ground. Another glitch—this one hurt a little more.

Luka turned back and rushed to him.

ā€œYou alright?ā€

ā€œY-Yeah… I don’t know what’s happening to meā€¦ā€

Alex slowly got up from the ground.

ā€œLet’s get inside. I’ll take a look at you.ā€

They entered the place. To Alex, it felt heavily secured. Cameras were everywhere. It creeped him out.

ā€œLuka… this placeā€¦ā€

ā€œDon’t worry. The cameras are disabled.ā€

Though… it really didn’t seem that way.

Mobius

ā€œOpen the door! We’re here to talk!ā€ Tails called, standing at the entrance of Eggman’s base.

The door opened. Orbot stood in the doorway.

ā€œThe boss isn’t in the best mood right now.ā€

ā€œWe came to talk to you and Cubot,ā€ Tails replied.

ā€œWe?ā€

ā€œYeah, you two, chrome domes,ā€ Tangle chimed in.

ā€œā€¦ Come in. But be quiet. The boss won’t be happy to see you.ā€

Tails and Tangle entered. Tails began to explain.

ā€œWe need your help. I’ve kind of picked up Sonic’s trail, but I don’t have the resources to pinpoint his location. I was wondering if I could use Eggman’s equipmentā€”ā€

ā€œAbsolutely not! The boss is busy crafting the perfect plan to conquer the world!ā€ Orbot interrupted.

Cubot popped in from behind.

ā€œThough last night, he was crying about Sonicā€¦ā€

Tangle burst into laughter. ā€œEggman crying over Sonic?! Even Tails, who’s basically like his little bro, didn’t cry!ā€

ā€œShh! Keep it down! You’ll make the boss mad!ā€ Orbot warned.

Suddenly, Eggman stormed in, furious and holding a mug labeled ā€œ#1 Boss.ā€

ā€œWhat’s with all the noise—oh… it’s you. Get out of here! Every second you waste in my base delays my plans for world domination!ā€

Tangle was still laughing and now rolling on the floor. ā€œI can’t believe this!!ā€

Tails stepped forward.

ā€œEggman, please… I’ve found a clue about Sonic’s location. I just need your equipmentā€”ā€

ā€œWhat?! Get lost! If you think I’ll pass up the perfect chance to ruin you, you’re dreaming! Without that blue nuisance, you fools are hopeless!ā€

Tangle teased, ā€œYou sure he was crying last night?ā€

Eggman’s anger practically smoked out of his head. He turned to glare at Orbot and Cubot.

ā€œSorry, bossā€¦ā€ Cubot muttered.

ā€œEggman, please… If I didn’t need to, I wouldn’t have come hereā€¦ā€

Eggman laughed maniacally, then frowned.

ā€œOUT! NOW!ā€

Defeated, Tails and Tangle turned to leave. Orbot and Cubot followed behind.

ā€œDon’t worry. We’ll try to talk him into it,ā€ Cubot whispered.

ā€œIf we don’t get turned into soup cans,ā€ Orbot added.

Finally, they left. Orbot and Cubot returned to Eggman, who was now pacing and deep in thought.

ā€œBoss, you reallyā€”ā€ Orbot began.

ā€œIf you two are still here in ten seconds, you won’t see another sunrise!!ā€

Orbot and Cubot scrambled in opposite directions, leaving Eggman alone.

ā€œSonic always ruins everything… but without him, it’s all too quietā€¦ā€

Eggman slumped into his chair, fiddling with his mustache. Suddenly, an idea struck. A wicked smile spread across his face.

ā€œOrbooooot! Get in here!ā€

Orbot zoomed in. ā€œYes, boss?ā€

ā€œTell that fox I’ll help him.ā€

ā€œReally, boss?!ā€

ā€œYes. Go tell him tomorrow. Now scram!ā€

Orbot nodded and zipped away, getting ready to meet Tails the next morning.

Mobius

The next morning, everything seemed just like the night before. Amy, Rouge, and Cream were still staying at the White Park Hotel, and Tails was at his workshop, still trying to find Sonic.
Even though he knew it might be a lost cause… he kept trying—he couldn’t give up on his friend.

ā€œA hopeful signal… Please… Let me have just a little hopeā€¦ā€
Tails muttered wearily, dark circles under his eyes as he stared into his monitors.
Suddenly, his phone rang.
It was Rouge the Bat.

ā€œUh… Hey, Rouge.ā€

ā€œOh hi, sweetie~ We need a bit of help here. Can you bring the Tornado to the south section of the park? We’re waiting for you, sugar!ā€

ā€œOh… Okay. I hope everything’s alright!ā€

ā€œHuh? Yeah, it’s fine. Just don’t be late, honey~ā€

Rouge hung up.

Finally, after eight long hours at the computer, Tails stood up and headed into the kitchen to grab some coffee—just enough to keep him going for the flight to White Park.

A few minutes later, the fox walked outside and hopped into the Tornado. He soared into the skies, heading straight for the park.

Unbeknownst to him, Orbot and Cubot were hiding behind nearby bushes, quietly watching him take off.

Cubot contacted Eggman.

ā€œBoss, Tails is on the move. Should we follow?ā€

ā€œNo. Stay there. Wait for him to come back!!ā€

A few minutes passed before Tails’ plane landed near the hotel. He jumped out and spotted Rouge standing nearby… something seemed off.

ā€œHey Rouge, I’m here! What’s the problem?ā€

Rouge, arms crossed, smirked—and without warning, lunged at him.
She struck him several times in rapid succession until he collapsed, unconscious.

Unknown Planet in Space

ā€œLuka, I… I don’t feel so goodā€¦ā€
Alex was clearly suffering from another glitch.

ā€œDon’t say anything. Let me check you out... Yeah, well—there’s nothing I can do.ā€

ā€œW-What? What do you mean?!ā€

ā€œI can’t help you.ā€

ā€œNo, no, y-you can! You saved me when I—I fell from the sky, and now y-you’re just giving up?!ā€

ā€œThat was different.ā€

ā€œLuka, p-pleaseā€¦ā€

ā€œI need you to calm down.ā€

ā€œI-I can’t! Help me!ā€

ā€œCalm down.ā€

ā€œH-HELP ME!!ā€

ā€œPerfect model—I said CALM DOWN!ā€

ā€œP-Perfect model…?ā€

Alex stuttered, glitching harder now, and took a step back.

ā€œI meant Alex! Alex, come back here.ā€

ā€œN-No!ā€

Alex bolted, running out of the building.

Luka, furious, couldn’t follow him.
Instead, he rushed to a nearby control panel and slammed his hand on a button. A screen lit up, showing the robot supervisors—the ones who had reprogrammed Luka—waiting for a status report.

ā€œHe ran. But he can’t have gone far. I’m sure he’s headed east!ā€

ā€œYou’ve failed us, KJUZ80. We’re sending out a team to retrieve him. As for you… you’re no longer useful.ā€

ā€œNo—please! Give me another chance! I can prove myself!ā€

ā€œThen you’ll be repurposed… for a higher cause.ā€

ā€œR-Repurposed…?ā€

Luka suddenly felt the space around him distort.
His screen flickered, dimmed… then went black.
He collapsed to the floor as security robots entered and dragged him away.

Notes:

I’m currently working on a new story! Once I finish the draft, I’ll definitely publish it!
(And yep, it’s about Sonic losing his memory again XD)

Mobius

Tails slowly opened his eyes. Among his fur, he could feel a gentle breeze. A breeze that grew faster every moment. It didn’t seem natural.

He opened his eyes and realized his hands and feet were tied, and he was on a roller coaster. In a panic, he looked around and saw Rouge beside him, in the same situation.

ā€œRouge?! What happened? I thought you needed help! Why did you attack me?!ā€

ā€œSorry kid, I wasn’t in control!ā€

ā€œWhat do you mean?ā€

ā€œI can’t believe it myself… but someone interrogated me and then hypnotized me!ā€

ā€œOh boy… who did this to you?ā€

ā€œNo idea. But I think you can guessā€”ā€

Suddenly, someone in a gray hoodie jumped onto the roller coaster, face hidden.

ā€œWhoa whoa, don’t spoil the surprise so fast. I’m glad you enjoyed my little mental trick… It’s a shame she didn’t last longer. I could’ve done better with more time, but even this was pretty effective for a subconscious suggestion. I’m looking forward to more sessions with you, Rouge. You’re truly an exceptional sleeper agent. Once the coaster reaches the top of White Park, we’ll jump and escape... we’ll have plenty of time to talk once you're cozy in my testing chambers.ā€

ā€œWe’re in big trouble, Tails!ā€

At that moment, a bright red light approached the coaster, trying to stop it.

ā€œShadow?!ā€ all three said at once.

Unable to stop the coaster, Shadow threw the person off of it. Before the ride continued, he had enough time to free Rouge and Tails.

ā€œShadow! I knew you'd come, darling!ā€

ā€œRouge, cut the flirting.ā€

ā€œWho was that?ā€ Tails asked.

Rouge sighed.

ā€œStarline.ā€

ā€œThen we are in trouble!ā€

At that moment, both of them jumped off the coaster with Shadow.

ā€œFox, you were working on locating the hedgehog, right?ā€ Shadow asked.

ā€œYeah, but that’s not so important now. With Starline here, you guys need help!ā€

ā€œDon’t worry, sweetheart. Shadow’s got this.ā€ Rouge winked, and Shadow rolled his eyes.

ā€œBut Iā€”ā€

ā€œLeave before I change my mind,ā€ Shadow said.

Tails nodded firmly and flew off toward the Tornado. Shadow and Rouge headed in the other direction, chasing Starline.

Tails boarded his plane and flew as fast as he could from White Park to Green Hill Zone.

After about twenty minutes of flying, the fox finally reached home, parked the plane in his garage, and ran to his workshop—when he heard Orbot’s voice behind him.

ā€œTails, I hope we didn’t come at a bad time.ā€

Tails turned around.

ā€œOrbot! Cubot!ā€

Cubot stepped forward.

ā€œWe talked to the Doctor. He’s agreed to help you.ā€

Tails was so overjoyed it felt like he was dreaming.

ā€œY-you’re serious?!ā€

ā€œYeah, Tails, hurry! We have to get to the Doctor,ā€ said Orbot.

Flustered, Tails rushed to grab his laptop and essential tools, then headed off with the two robots. He jumped into the Tornado and asked them to hop in, too. After a short flight, they reached Eggman’s base.

Tails and the two robots stood outside the door. Orbot knocked, and Eggman himself opened it.

ā€œYou’re three. Fox, you may use my equipment—but your time is limited. Make the most of it.ā€

ā€œAbsolutely! Thank you, Eggman! I really want to know what made you change your mind!ā€

ā€œDon’t ask.ā€

Tails smiled and passed by Eggman. Orbot and Cubot led him to a room Eggman had already prepared.

Tails quickly set up his tools and synced his tech with Eggman’s. He got to work and finally detected a promising signal—an unusual mix of Warp Topaz energy, Chaos energy, and Sonic’s unique signature. He tried to track the signal but it wasn’t enough. The farthest he could detect it was just past Blaze’s planet (after the Sol Dimension).

ā€œThis tech isn’t enough. We need to go to Blaze’s planet. I’m sure we’ll find Sonic there!ā€

ā€œNo, kid. Nothing leaves this room!ā€

ā€œThen give me full access to your equipment!ā€

Eggman stared for a moment, then sighed.

ā€œFine.ā€

Tails went to another room—and it was amazing! Every kind of tech imaginable!

ā€œThis is awesome! Sonic, I’m coming to save you!ā€

He sat down at the monitors and tracked Sonic’s signal—leading all the way to a black hole nearby.

ā€œWait, could it be—?ā€

ā€œHe fell into the black hole? I don’t think so,ā€ Eggman said, stepping forward.

ā€œLook here. There’s another powerful energy nearby. Looks like a portal.ā€

ā€œYou’re right! If I track this... it leads to an unknown solar system! Weird. I’ve never seen this dimension before.ā€

ā€œYou’re doing great. Keep going.ā€

Tails followed the energy trail to a strange planet.

ā€œHe’s here! We found him! I hope he’s okay! Eggman, thank you. You’re not all bad after all!!ā€

ā€œDon’t push it. Just get to work.ā€

Now that Tails had Sonic’s approximate location, he needed only one thing: a portal to bring his brother home after weeks of searching.

---

Unknown planet – in space

Alex, in a bad state, was running—not fast, just at a normal pace. He was glitching more and more as he ran. Security forces were now chasing him. He was about to give up when suddenly someone grabbed him and pulled him into an alley.

ā€œLook, I don’t know what you did, but apparently it’s serious enough that helping you could get me destroyed!ā€

ā€œA-Amanda!ā€

ā€œYeah, yeah, whatever you say.ā€

Alex glitched again and collapsed.

ā€œOh no.ā€

ā€œI-I don’t know what’s happening… but… you can help me, r-right?ā€

ā€œLet me see… Oh… these are from the prototype power inhibitors. I shouldn’t have used the test version.ā€

ā€œC-can you remove them?ā€

ā€œNope. Definitely not. Not until we get to a safe place. Nowhere’s safe right now. If they track your energy, we’re toast!ā€

ā€œWhy… why do they even want this energy?ā€

ā€œI don’t think they’re after you for the energy. But if they catch you, they’ll extract it—for conquering galaxies or building ultra-high-level prototypes.ā€

Alex glitched again. He was visibly weaker than before.

ā€œI can’t leave you like this… Wait, do you still have the cloak I gave you?ā€

ā€œN-n-n-noā€”ā€

He could barely speak.

ā€œOh, for chaos’ sake.ā€

Amanda wrapped her arm around Alex and started walking carefully. After a few minutes, even that was too much. Alex collapsed again. Amanda dropped to her knees beside him.

ā€œNot now! Not here! Please!ā€

At that moment, a portal opened about five meters away. Without hesitation, Amanda dragged Alex toward it and threw both of them in.

They landed in a room full of computers, with a red smiling face logo all over the place. Two figures stood before them—definitely not robots.

ā€œBoss, I think the portal hit the wrong target. This guy’s neither Sonic nor alive,ā€ said Cubot.

ā€œYeah boss, he looks more like a dog than a hedgehog,ā€ Orbot added.

ā€œI can see what he is, you idiots! Get out!!!ā€ Eggman shouted.

Orbot and Cubot left in a hurry. Amanda, still holding Alex, looked up.

ā€œYou… are you living beings?ā€

ā€œYeah, buddy, we’re alive. Name’s Tails. I’m a living fox. And you are?ā€

ā€œMy name… A-Amanda. Yeah. Amanda.ā€

ā€œNice to meet you! We’re looking for our friend. His nameā€”ā€

ā€œOh no! Alex!!ā€

Amanda moved aside.

ā€œā€¦is Sonic… Sonic!ā€

Tails rushed over to Alex/Sonic and knelt beside him.

ā€œSonic, buddy! What happened to him?!ā€

ā€œIt’s the power inhibitors.ā€

ā€œWe have to take them off!ā€

ā€œNo! If you do that, they’ll find us!ā€

ā€œHey… Amanda… don’t worry. This planet is farther from your world than you can imagine. No one’s gonna find you here.ā€

Tails quickly removed the inhibitors from Sonic/Alex. He seemed to calm down.

ā€œAlright alright alright, now what? Time for me to make my move!ā€ Eggman said.

ā€œNot now, Eggman… Sonic’s not well… maybe later?ā€

Eggman blinked in surprise.

ā€œFine. Get out.ā€

Tails stood up and nodded. He asked Amanda to help carry Sonic/Alex, and the three of them left the base together.

Chapter 16

Summary:

The game has just begun!

Chapter Text

Mobius

Tails had brought Amanda and Sonic/Alex back to his workshop. Sonic/Alex was unconscious, lying on a small bed. Even though the suppressors had been removed, he still experienced occasional glitches.

Tails had hooked up several devices to Sonic/Alex in an attempt to extract some of the Chaos and corrupted Emerald energy from his body, hoping it would stabilize him. While the machines whirred and beeped, Tails decided to take the opportunity to study Amanda and listen to her story of how she met Sonic/Alex. He sat at his computer, and Amanda sat beside him.

"Strange... you’re a really advanced model! If Eggman could build something like you, it’d be a global threat!"

"Oh… thanks. Honestly, I'm not considered that advanced back on my planet. There are others way more sophisticated than me."

"That’s incredible! Your planet must be amazing—skilled scientists and super-advanced tech!"

"Probably."

"What do you mean, 'probably'?"

"Well, I was just recently activated. My model’s from a few years ago, so I was either shut down for a long time... or reprogrammed."

"Ah... never mind that. How did you meet Sonic?" Tails motioned to the unconscious hedgehog.

"I don’t know... and why do you keep calling him Sonic? His name is Alex."

"What?! No, of course not—why would you say that?"

*"That's what he told me. He showed up out of nowhere and said, ā€˜Amanda! They’re after me—help me!’ I asked who he was, and he said, ā€˜I’m Alex—your friend!ā€™ā€

"That's so weird. Maybe he used a fake name to stay hidden. Hey, would it be okay if I scanned your mind? I’m curious to see if you were reprogrammed."

"Yeah, I guess that’s fine."

Tails got up and connected a few thick USB-like cables to Amanda, then returned to his seat.

"Did you build Alex?" Amanda asked.

"What? No, I don’t get what you mean."

"He's flawless... I'd really like to meet whoever created him."

"Amanda, Sonic’s alive. He’s a living being—just like me, and everyone else."

"Impossible. The amount of energy in his body is too massive. No organic—or even synthetic—being can hold that much unless they're perfect in every way."

"But he can! And it’s not the first time. I’ve been on countless adventures with him since we were kids! He’s done stuff like this hundreds of times and always made it back. I just... I don’t know what happened this time..."

Tails focused on his screen and found something quickly.

"Amanda, it looks like you've definitely been reprogrammed. And here—there’s a locked file. It’s related to your old memories. Do you have any idea what the password might be?"

"Oh… nope, not a clue."

"What language do your people use on your planet?"

"English."

"That’s great! I can use my computer to try every possible English password… but it'll take a few hours."

"That’s okay."

Tails opened a new window, hit the start button, and the brute-force software began working through passwords. Meanwhile, he turned back to check on Sonic's condition.

His consciousness level was rising. If things continued at this rate, he’d wake up in a few minutes. And sure enough, Sonic/Alex slowly opened his eyes. Once fully awake, he sat up quickly, panic flashing across his face as he checked himself.

"A-am I okay?! Where... where am I?"

Without hesitation, Tails hugged him tight.

"You’re in my workshop, buddy! Welcome home, Sonic!"

Sonic/Alex pushed him away and backed up.

"What are you talking about? My name is Alex! I've never heard of this 'Sonic' guy!"

"O-okay okay, look—this isn't the kind of place where you have to pretend. I’m the real Tails, so please stop acting like this!" Tails' voice wavered with stress.

"I'm not acting! I mean it!"

Tails stared at him, deeply concerned. It was clear: Sonic/Alex really had lost his memory.

Then Sonic/Alex noticed Amanda, still hooked to the thick cables.

"Amanda, you're here too?! Run! He’s trying to reprogram you!"

"No, Alex—he's trying to help!"

"Don’t trust him! Luka was hooked up to cables just like those!"

He looked at his own hands and saw wires attached.

"I’ve got cables on me too?! Oh no, I won’t let you reprogram me, fox!"

Tails shouted instinctively:

"Sonic, you're not a robot! You’re a living being—cut this nonsense out! I already explained everything to Amanda! I’m extracting corrupted energy from your body—it’s helping you! I’m your friend, not your enemy!"

Sonic/Alex backed away, then angrily ripped out the cables and shoved Tails aside.

"I’m leaving! Experience has taught me—never trust anyone but Amanda!"

"Alex, he’s trustworthy!!" Amanda called after him.

"...Yeah, of course you'd say that—you’re under his influence! But I won’t be fooled again!"

Sonic/Alex stormed out of the workshop. Outside, he was stunned by what he saw. Palm trees, blue sky, bright green grass… everything looked like the simulated environment from the lab.

"This place… it’s just like that simulated world—only bigger..."

Tails followed.

"Bigger? No—this is real! This is Green Hill! Can you trust me now? Please, I’m your friend!"

Tails handed him a framed photo. In it, both of them were together.

"Sonic, look. This is us—this was just a few months ago!"

"Whoa... maybe I did accuse you too quickly. But… can you still call me Alex? I’m not really comfy with ā€˜Sonic’ yet."

Just then, a high-pitched scream grew louder and louder:

"SOOOOOOOONIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIC!!! As soon as Tails said you were found, we rushed overrrr!!!"

Amy ran toward them and tackled Sonic/Alex in a tight hug. Behind her, Cream, Rouge, and a flock of Chao walked over.

"You have no idea what I went through! I died a thousand times inside!" Amy said.

"Well, looks like you’ll need to get used to 'Sonic' again!" Tails smirked.

"...Yeah..."

"Wait, what’s going on?!" Amy asked.

"Mister Sonic, I’m so happy you’re safe!" Cream beamed.

"Glad you're alive, blue boy," Rouge added.

"Sonic has amnesia," Tails admitted reluctantly.

"WHAAAAAAT?! SONIC YOU HAVE AMNESIA?! YOU DON’T REMEMBER MEEEEE?! WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL MEEEE?!" Amy shrieked.

"You’re insane." Sonic/Alex muttered.

"That’s fair," Rouge said.

"Tails, can I talk to you?"

A voice called from inside. Tails and the others (minus Sonic) headed back to the workshop.

"Everyone, this is Amanda. She’s the one who brought Sonic back—and she’s a robot."

"Nice to meet you, ma’am!" Cream said cheerfully.

Tails noticed the locked file had just been cracked open. He transferred the old data into Amanda’s long-term memory. After a few moments, she finished processing it.

"Oh my gosh—everything makes SO much more sense now! I was such an idiot trying to act serious all the time!"

"Well… can you tell us how you met Sonic now?"

**"Oooooh yes! So, I gave him the name Alex! There were three of us, including a guy named Luka—real name classified! We accidentally opened a portal during an experiment and your friend fell through. He was in terrible shape—unconscious—so we hooked him up to our equipment. The next day he woke up, but his brain was empty! He kept dreaming of fire and falling, and said some silly name… I think it was Mister Needle Hedge? Quillie Mouse? Something like that.

Anyway, we took care of him for a while and he started to remember vague things—like a guy called Shadow. So we ran some tests and found he had this INSANE amount of Chaos energy. But that didn’t make sense because Chaos Emeralds were just legends… and he looked 100% alive, not artificial. We thought he might be a flawless being from another dimension!

Eventually, we showed him our secret project: a recreated patch of nature from our dying planet, complete with plants and creatures. We weren’t allowed to touch anything… but he did. He even spoke to one of the living creatures—said stuff about a Resistance and someone named Amy. And get this—he said Eggman’s robots were easy to destroy!

He broke two major rules: he touched the wildlife and insulted the bots. So they decided to reprogram him—but we helped him escape and went on the run too. They caught us… I was reprogrammed earlier. Last thing I remember is an old robot saying, ā€˜Breaking rules was just an excuse. We want his energy.’ Then it all went black… and I’d rather not talk about what came next."**

Everyone was speechless. Tails looked deep in thought.

"So when he’s awake, Sonic remembers nothing—but sometimes he says things from his past! That’s perfect. We might be able to use that to recover his memory!"

"Honey, I hate to burst your bubble—but Chaos Emeralds are real. And they’re right here on this planet," Rouge added.

"WHAT?! No way!!! I have to learn everything about this planet!"

"One step at a time, robot girl," Amy rolled her eyes.

"I just don’t get how they reprogrammed you but didn’t delete your memories?"

"Doesn’t matter! I’m my old self again! I have to tell Al—err, Sonic!"

Amanda unplugged herself and rushed outside to Sonic’s side.

"Sonic, guess what?! I’m back to my old self again!!!"

"Amanda! That’s amazing!!!"

Sonic stood, grabbed her hands excitedly—but glitched again, though not as badly as before.

"You okay?!"

"Ahh yeah… it hurt a little, but not like before. What if I never get better?"

"What? No! Tails will definitely find a way—just like he did for me!"

Suddenly Amy zoomed in, grabbed Sonic by the ear, and yanked him away from Amanda.

"Come on, Sonic sweetie! I’m showing you the town! Oh, and my name’s Amy!"

"What? Let go!"

"Neverrr!"

"You’re totally jealous, Miss Amy!"

"You’re the jealous one, Miss I-Don’t-Know-What!"

Amy dragged Sonic away, leaving Amanda behind. Tails and the others approached her. Rouge and Cream waved goodbye and left.

"Sorry about that. Amy’s super into Sonic. She might come off strong, but she means well."

"It’s okay, I’m not upset! Now that we’re alone… can you tell me about this legendary planet and all of you—the living beings?"

"Of course! Let’s go!"

They walked off together, as Tails began explaining the wonders of their world.

Eggman’s Base

Eggman sat at his computer, watching everything unfold. He’d been spying on them the whole time.

"What could be better? Sonic’s lost his memory! My plan will go so much faster now! Those fools have no idea what’s coming!"

"Doctor, should we visit that secret planet first?" Cubot asked as he swept the floor.

"Not yet, Cubot… not yet."

The doctor steepled his fingers, a wicked grin spreading across his face. No one but Eggman knew his next move—but whatever it was, it looked very dangerous.

(…or maybe not.)

Chapter Text

Hello everyone,
I truly apologize for this long break 🄲
Honestly, I never thought I’d lose motivation to keep writing my story. The truth is, everything you’ve read so far was just a draft. And about the last chapter… well, Amy’s behavior wasn’t really written properly, and to be honest, when I wrote it I wasn’t in a normal state of mind (chronic sleep deprivation) — and even now, I’m still not fully okay.

So, to keep it short: this story ends here. If anyone wants to know how it would’ve finished, I can tell you that a great war between worlds takes place, and in the end, Sonic, with the help of Shadow and the Chaos Emeralds, regains his memory. Before things get worse, he sets everything right again :)

Right now, I’m working on two new stories — one about Sonic, and another related to Gintama. The Sonic draft will be finished soon, and I’ll publish the clean, final version afterwards. My next story will definitely be stronger, better, and with longer chapters. And I promise I won’t abandon it halfway through this time! ā˜ŗļø

Once again, I sincerely apologize, and I hope to see you all in my next story āœØšŸ¦‹

Notes:

I can't promise when the next part will be released—it could be as soon as tomorrow, or it might take months... You know, I have a national exam coming up, so I don’t have much free time!

Anyway, thanks for reading! Don't forget to tell me your thoughts!! XDD
