Chapter Text
"Yo, these those Royal Gardens people?" A brash voice asked, standing next to the three girls, and three other girls standing next to him.
Amu turned to him. While he had black hair... It looked wrong on him, like either he'd suit dyed hair, or he's currently dying is hair and it's just... wrong. The other three looked fine. The bright red hair made Amu less self-conscious about her own pink hair.
"Royal Gardeners?" Amu asked.
"No no no!" The two girls shouted in unison. "Royal Guardians! Kings Chair, Hotori Tadase! Queen's Chair, Fujisaki Nadeshiko! Jack's Chair, Souma Kukai! Ace's Chair, Yuiki Yaya! Hotori-kun is the leader, and in our year. Fujisaki-Chan is also in our year, and is the one doing all the work. Souma-kun is captain of the Soccer team, but he's been trying to join most of the others anyway. And Yuiki-Chan... Is... Uhm..." The black haired one hummed.
"It's hard to understand her." Brown hair continued. "But she acts very... Childish?"
"So Tan not-" Black-hair cut himself off, looking at Nadeshiko for some reason. Sure she's very pretty, like, overly pretty. If Amu was a guy... "She's T-all." Amu looked at him oddly at the stutter. "Very tall."
"You're just short." The red haired girl giggled. "I'm barely 4'1 and you're only a few inches tallter, taller than me." She stuttered over a word, and she seemed a bit nervous, but other than that she seems normal...
So why is Amu getting such weird feelings from these four, and her three eggs were silent. Sure, they weren't making noise before, but... Now she feels like they're trying to hide.
"Fair." The taller brown haired girl shrugged, and the black haired girl with grey eyes nodded.
"You two can talk, you behemoths." Red-Hair laughed.
"I'm Sa- Tatsumi Ryuji." Tatsumi said.
"Kurusu Akira." The grey eyed girl shrugged.
"Yoshizaba, Yoshizawa Sumire." She said with a slight fumble on her last name.
"Niijima Makoto." The brown haired girl said with a smile.
"We're Wakana and Manami." The two other girls said, and Amu almost breathed in relief. She honestly didn't rememb- are they siblings? "My first name is Naomi, and hers is Lillie." Naomi smiled, her brown hair in two buns, while her friend had a flower hair clip. So not related, just friends.
"Hinamori Amu." Amu said nervous. Hopefully they don-
"Cool & Spicy~!" The two girls said striking a pose.
"Oh, so you're that type." Tatsumi muttered. What type? "You uh... You do you, you two."
"..." The two girls blushed, as if they knew what Tatsumi was talking about. "We're not..." They blushed harder and moved away, unlinking hands. "Uhm..."
"... Ryuji, did you break them?" The tall girl, Kurusu, sighed. "You can't break people."
"But it's obvious, ain't it?" Tatsumi asked. The three girls that knew him just started to look away. "Right?"
"Yeah, but... We don't say it." Niijima said gently.
"I mean, I could tell from watiting- Watching them meetup this morning." Yoshizawa said meekly.
"We-" The two looked at each other, before blushing, and running away.
"... You broke them." The prettiest girl, Fujisaki said as she walked over. "Is everything ok over here?"
"Yeah. Ryuji just did an Awakening... Why is that Capitalized in my head?" Kurusu muttered.
"I... Am... Unsure?" Fujisaki stared at Kurusu. "..." The two stared at each other.
"... DNA test?" Fujisaki asked.
"Why the hell not?" Kurusu shrugged. "Not like I know my real fa-" She cut herself off.
Amu felt really, really uncomfortable now. "I uhm..." She looked at Fujisaki. "I'm Hinamori Amu. It's nice to meet you, Fujisaki-chan."
Amu blinked as the four introduced themselves at the front of the class.
Tatsumi was "Boku", and said to just call him Ryuji cause he's not too fond of formality.
Kurusu used "Watashi". No clue on the bloody gender, but Amu is guessing Female.
"Atashi" was used by both Yoshizawa and Niijima. Amu found those two the most normal. Despite Yoshizawa's stutter, and Niijima's... Everything, and the fact she seems more serious than even the teacher.
Her red egg had been shaking when Nedeshko got close. Amu wonders what that means... But it went dead silent at Tadase. That's odd.
"So, Sakamoto?" One of the boys in the class asked. "What's with the name change?"
"... That ain't my name." Tatsumi said coldly. His eyes turned harsh. "So maybe shuddup, Hanokuma." He growled out.
"..." Hanokuma took a step back with a scared look. "Dude, what happened?"
"None of your business." Ryuji muttered turning away. "Just... Go do whatever it is you do." He said, and walked over to Kurusu.
Amu felt... like she's only getting half a story. And it scares her.
The Blue Egg shook a little, when she thought about trying to help. She looked at the three again. This is... weird.
Akira rushed after Amu, as she ran away after something made hre say something that wasn't her.
He dashed around a corner... And saw her flying into the air. He watched with wide eyes.
And saw a little pink thing flying around her. Do those... Give people powers? How does Akira get one?
"RAN LET ME DOWN!" Akira heard Amu yell, and land on the... Top of the scaffolding. Shit.
"Hello up there!" Akira called out. "Need a hand!?"
"PLEASE!?" Amu called out. She then said something to the pink thing floating next to her.
Ran? Ran, seemed to argue, but came down anyway.
"I TOLD YOU, THEY CAN'T-" Akira snorted.
"Seriously? A pink and white cheer outfit? Can you be more retro?" Akira snarked, and the little pink thing turned pure white, and it's soul seemed to leave her body.
"Ok... This... Shouldn't... Work." Ran muttered. "But... From a regular girl, to a girl with a heart lighter than air, Chara Change!" Ran said, doing a fist bump in the air, and Akira saw glowing purple and black wings appear on his wrists and ankles, and the jumped all the way to Amu, with Ran on his shoulder.
"Hey, you good?" He asked, and Amu nodded.
"Geeze, that thing is weird." Amu muttered.
"How'd you get one?" Akira asked.
"Dunno. Woke up today with these things in my bed... Maybe I pooped them out?" Amu admitted with a blush.
"... Seems logical." Akira nodded. "Anything before that?"
"i... Wished to figure out who I want to be?"
"That would do it." Akira noted. And then grabbed a boy's hand that tried to grab Amu's bag. "How about a no?"
The boy, clearly older than them, but younger than mom by a long shot, stared at the two in shock.
"How... Are you using her Chara's power?" He asked, as a little cat floated next to him.
"You're a furry?" Akira asked. The boy started to cough, and Amu laughed. Ran just looked confused.
"What's a furry?" She asked. The boy just threw up his hands, and a weird locket fell from one pocket. Akira grabbed it before he could see.
"NOPE!" He jumped off with a cat tail and cat ears now on him, with him landing like a cat. On his feet. He scampered off.
Akira handed the little charm to Amu. "Here you go, Hinamori."
"Uh, thanks?" She held it. "This feels... Weird."
"The situation, or the locket." Ran deadpanned. "Because both are really, really damned weird."
Akira sighed as he laid down on his bed, and thought about what Amu said.
Wanting to be her true self? No... Wanting to figure out who she is.
Akira can relate.
So... Who does he want to be?
A Hero?
No. He... He doesn't want to be seen. To have people looking up to him. He isn't that type of person.
A villain?
Hell no. He doesn't like that idea.
A boy?
...
A girl?
...
Being someone to change the world?
That sounds... Better.
He smiled, as he fell asleep.
In the morning he woke up to a little cute black and red egg with a bright hellish red skull over most the egg, with the top and bottom being a calmer red.
"Oh... Hello." He whispered, holding it close. "You're mine, aren't you?"
