Chapter Text
Mitsuru Kriijo was a woman of many talents, leadership, emotional control, knowledge of how to run a large organization, and combat proficiency just to name a few, she simply wouldn’t have lived as long as she has if she didn’t gain these skills over the course of her life. So it would come as a shock to anyone, to see her so visually aggravated by the report she had just finished reading.
“Ren Amamiya, arrested on assault charges”
It was a short article discussing the arrest of a 17 year old boy, who had allegedly assaulted an “innocent”, said individual was never mentioned in the report, but that was hardly important to her; she had a hunch who it was. No normal employee of the Kirijo Group would understand the significance of why Mitsuru was reading an article about such an innocuous arrest, but the other people who shared the room with her, were not in any sense of the word “normal” they, were the former members of S.E.E.S a group who stood up against the end of the world, a group who made a promise to a very special someone. The arrest report was displayed on a large screen behind Mitsuru, on it an image of the perpetrator was displayed, a 17 year old Japanese male, with a mop of frizzy black hair on the top of his head, and silver eyes, the sight of this young man was significant, and everyone in the room knew exactly why. In this room sat 7 other people and an albino Shiba Inu, Kotone Arisato, Yukari Takeba, Fuuka Yamagishi, Aigis, Akihiko Sanada, Junpei Iori, their canine companion Koromaru and her fiance Minato Arisato. The Auburn haired Kotone, never let her eyes move away from the screen, staring directly into Ren’s face as it was shown, the rest in the room all shared knowing glances at each other.
“I don’t think I have to explain why we are gathered here today…” Mitsuru said as everyone in the room nodded silently. “We all are well aware of what this means, for both Ren and us. We made a promise the day he left us, that even if he did not have any knowledge of why, we would not allow him and his group to fend for themselves, and with that it is finally time I believe we seriously consider what actions we should take, since movement of the Kirijo Group inside of Tokyo is all but impossible thanks to Shido’s growing influence over the area…” Mitsuru watched as a few ideas were tossed around, but seemed ultimately fruitless, such as sending him resources as an anonymous donor, until an answer came from a surprising source.
“Wait….what if we sent Ken?” was the question Junpei provided the others with, naturally this was met with skepticism, as sending the youngest member of the team out on what would essentially be a solo mission, right into the heart of their biggest enemy's territory sounded on paper, like a terrible idea. However Junei holds firm, before removing his smartphone from his pocket, and pulling up a photo, in the photo there were 9 teens, and a single cat. One of them looked to be the very same Ren Amamiya in the police report, but aside from him, there was a vulgar looking boy with fake blonde hair, a black and white cat with a yellow scarf, a blonde with pigtails, a blue haired boy similar to Minato, a girl with dark brown hair, a girl with orange dyed hair, a fluffy Auburn haired girl, a redheaded girl, and lastly, a boy with short brown hair. Junpei pointed to the boy with brown hair.
“Lets not kid ourselves, we all know thats Ken right? Maybe the guy left us with this photo as a hint to how we can help him!” Junpei argued, this led to a little more back and forth until support came from across the table.
“Maybe…Junpei is right?” Yukari voiced.
“Woah, Yuka-tan you’re agreeing with me!?”
“Don’t get used to it…”
A huff from Junpei and a snicker from Minato later Mitsuru gave her response: “Junpei may actually be correct, Ken Amada was never kept as an official member of the Kirijo Group, even the members of the Investigation Team were listed as associates, but Ken…he has been off the books ever since 2012. If there was anyone who would be able to safely sneak into Tokyo under Shido’s watch, it would be him.”
“But what about Shinji? He is looking after Amada as his guardian, wouldn’t Shido and his men catch him?” Akihiko asked.
“Aragaki has been kept off the books for the same amount of time as Ken, so it would be unlikely.” Was the response Mitsuru gave. And with that the plan on paper seemed fairly solid. After more back and forth to iron out the plan the meeting was adjourned and the team separated and Mitsuru approached Kotone privately.
“Kotone, I have a request for you.”
“What's up?”
“I would like you to be the one to discuss this plan with Aragaki-san and Amada, I imagine the plan will carry far more weight if it comes from you, considering just what exactly Ren means to you…”
“Yeah ... .yeah…you can count on me, future in-law.” Kotone smiled as Mitsuru let out a small laugh, looking at a ring wrapped around her finger, the stone the same shade of blue that matched her fiance’s hair.
“Thank you..” Mitsuru closed her eyes as she smiled. “I wish you luck.” And with that Kotone left the meeting room, with plans to discuss this with Shinjiro and Ken tomorrow she looked at photograph, that held clear signs of age, but in it, was a younger version of herself, with seemingly the same Ren Amamiya, who looked to the same age as he was in the report, with the two clearly in a warm embrace. Holding the photo close to her chest she muttered to herself. “Soon my Joker…..soon.”
