Work Text:
One of Alex’s favorite things to do at night in Austin, is take a meandering walk from the lake house to the big field and watch the fireflies do their thing. It makes him feel microscopic in this giant world as he just basks in nature.
He and Henry walk to the field one such night, after a long day of splashing in the water, basking in the sun, and basically having a redo of that fateful day (without mentioning such a ghastly thing of course).
The wonder in Henry’s eyes as he sees the spectacle hits Alex like lightning.
He wants this. Forever.
He wants to share every part of himself with Henry, as terrifying as that sounds. He wants Henry to share every part of him. He wants to show him all the fun Texas things like the miracle of barbecue, the magic of Chuy’s and Torchy’s, line dancing and belting out Deep In The Heart of Texas at random moments. He wants to learn all the silly Royal stuff he used to make fun of, and the London secrets, and Wales, and everything in between.
He wants it all.
And from the look in Henry’s eyes, as he gazes back, Henry would be on board with that plan. He surges forward for a kiss - a forever kind of kiss - and Alex feels his heart squeeze and grow and balloon.
