Chapter Text
Jungkook curled himself around Namjoon's arm with every limb he currently had the ability to move, including his neck and the top of his tail.
"Jungkook?"
"No." Jungkook twisted his head again, pressing it right into the dramatic curve of Namjoon’s chest. Namjoon had grown so much lately it was almost worth all the time he was spending at the basement gym away from the nest. Almost.
"I need to leave, Kookie."
"No." Jungkook let his feet slide off Namjoon’s arm for just long enough to curl them around his waist instead. "Stay."
As much as Jungkook loved his hyungs, they had an unfortunate habit of trying to leave. He wasn't the most possessive of dragons, rather reasonable actually, but he couldn't be expected to just let his hoard disperse into all directions every day like they wanted him to. Namjoon had been outside just the day before and Jungkook had had enough.
"I have work, baby," Namjoon sat up, seemingly entirely unbothered by Jungkook’s full body weight. Fuck all that sexy muscle.
"Quit." Jungkook pressed his face into Namjoon’s neck with a huff, breathing deeply. Namjoon smelled so good in the mornings, still a little sweet from their evening pack time and untouched by the world.
Unfortunately, Namjoon wasn’t too bothered by Jungkook’s clinginess, placing two hands under Jungkook’s butt to keep him up as he stood, walking them out of the nest without a sliver of regret.
"Evil." Jungkook huffed, curling his arms around Namjoon’s neck to hold himself closer.
"Very." Namjoon agreed, pulling a big, properly scented hoodie out of the pack closet and dragging it over Jungkook’s head. Jungkook decided to have a moment of mercy and let go of Namjoon’s neck to put his arms in the sleeves, placing his arms back around Namjoon’s neck as he pulled the hoodie down. He could fight better if he was warm anyway.
They walked into the living room slowly, Jungkook pressing as close to Namjoon’s neck as possible. Most of the pack was still there, though a few had been lost to the evil ploys of capitalism already. Jungkook needed to learn how to wake up first, but his dragon side really didn't help with its tendency to sleep for sixteen hours straight if no one forced him up. Thousand year slumbers were maybe impractical but god how Jungkook craved just one.
"Baby," Jimin was on the couch, looking a little ruffled in one of Seokjin’s sweaters and Yoongi’s favorite cotton miniskirt, with his arms out towards Jungkook. "Come cuddle."
Namjoon relented before Jungkook could decide, setting him down in Jimin's lap and giving him a kiss on the head. Jungkook managed a small pout in protest, but unfortunately, Jimin had a very good lap and Namjoon had dimples. "Cuddle Jimin while I shower. Should I get you a smoothie?"
Jungkook curled over Jimin with practiced ease, ending up flat on his back with Jimin on top, already falling into a light sleep again by the time Namjoon came with his smoothie and another few kisses for the both of them.
The morning flew by between bites of food and more kisses and Jungkook was content being shifted between hyungs at least a dozen times before they all were ready. Jungkook had not helped at all.
When he had first moved in with them at the start of college he had only required company when getting ready, and sometimes help with deciding which of his jewels he would wear, now the only thing he really did was decide on the jewels.
He usually ended up in a mix of borrowed and pack clothes, with his teeth carefully brushed by whoever had the most extra time, and weighed down by all his favorite bracelets and necklaces.
He also made sure that the hyungs had some of his hoard on them. Even if he couldn't watch over them, it helped him be a bit closer. (Some of the items were only there because they were pretty and would mark the wearer as one of Jungkook’s, but he liked to have a few protective and locating spells spread over them just in case.)
He always laid them out by the nest before bed, mostly for Hoseok and Taehyung who tended to leave early, but also to make it a little quicker when Jungkook put it on the remaining hoard. They all made sure to see him before leaving, allowing him to mark them and say goodbye before they left.
This time though, Jungkook was not leaving last. He didn't work like the rest of them, being a dragon, he spent his time collecting for and maintaining his hoard, but Yoongi had convinced him to come sing on a few demos, as Jungkook’s voice usually made the companies see the potential of the song easier. (And of course Seokjin was coming too because he had just been out on a multiple day work trip and had been banned from leaving whichever building Jungkook was in for the foreseeable future.)
"The car will be here in five, baby, can I put on your shoes?" Yoongi was sitting cross-legged on the floor by the front door, double checking the contents of his backpack and functioning as a footrest for Jungkook’s socked but always cold feet while they waited for Seokjin who had suddenly decided he wanted to wear makeup.
"No shoes." Jungkook pulled the strap of his tote bag over his head, pressing his toes into the crack between Yoongi’s thigh and calf where it was warmer.
"It's been raining, baby," Yoongi looked up, eyebrows scrunched, closing up his backpack.
"Hyung can carry me." Or Jungkook could fly. . He hadn't been flying in forever and his scales were .itching.
Yoongi shrugged. He was nice like that. Calm and unbothered. He'd probably even carry Seokjin’s bag.
"Are my boys ready?" Seokjin said a little too loudly, still with a towel in his hair and shirt half unbuttoned. The makeup had turned out nice though. His eyes were sharp and his lips were plump. (Jungkook hoped he wouldn’t be too busy to do some kissing between takes but he made sure not to say that out loud because he was still mad about mornings.)
"You'll need to carry Jungkook. Otherwise, yes." Yoongi stood, taking Jungkook’s foot into his hands and lifting it up onto the bench so he could pull on his backpack.
Seokjin sighed, but he didn't look disappointed. "You're mistreating me."
"I'm using you for what you're worth." Jungkook reached out his arms, pout as big as he could get it.
Seokjin sighed again, repressed smile making the noise strange, and pulled his head towel off. He quickly pulled on his jacket, threw his little green bag at Yoongi, and turned around to let Jungkook climb onto his back.
Jungkook sighed, stuffing his nose into Seokjin’s moist hair, and then they were going.
-
The day was mostly uneventful. Yoongi kept them inside his comfortable studio, making Jungkook sing into the mic a few times an hour and leaving him to nap in Seokjin’s lap for the rest of the time.
It was about as comfortable as Jungkook could get so far from most of his hoard, though it was supposedly good for him. Dragons could get very isolated if they got used to never leaving their nests and Jungkook would definitely never leave if he was allowed to. It was part of the reason why he had been moved in with the hyungs as soon as he left his parents’ nest.
They were good at it though, and Jungkook was at least seventy percent sure both Yoongi and Namjoon had done proper courses about actual techniques to make it smoother. He always found himself outside the house at least three times a week, and it did go well ninety percent of the time.
It was only that this day was that ten percent and it wasn't obvious before it was too late.
"Here," Jungkook tried to pull his jacket around Yoongi's shoulders without taking him from the chair. "You're cold."
Yoongi looked up, eyebrows squished together cutely. He was so cute. Jungkook wanted to lick his face.
"It's rather warm in here, baby, you don't need to worry about that," Yoongi sat up a bit, taking the jacket out of Jungkook’s hands and laying it in his lap, nodding towards Seokjin who had quickly stood up.
"How about we go get some candy from the vending machine in the hallway?" Seokjin laid a warm, big hand over Jungkook’s back.
Still somewhat upset about Yoongi's thin sweater, Jungkook leaned into the touch. He may have been light enough to be lifted and moved around by any of them, having a body built for flying, but only Seokjin and Namjoon could really make him feel small and they used it to their advantage at every possible opportunity.
Yoongi could be alone for a few minutes, couldn't he? It was probably good to get some energy in him anyway since it had been a while since lunch and Jungkook did enjoy watching the snacks fall down through the polished glass of the machine.
"You want gummies?" Jungkook asked, voice a little weak but eyes trained on Yoongi.
Yoongi smiled sweetly, little teeth all on display. Jungkook wanted to lick them. "Yes, please, baby. Maybe dragon shaped ones?"
Oh. Yes. Jungkook could do that. He knew exactly where they had dragon shaped gummies in the machine. He would provide for Yoongi. He could. He walked out of the studio.
"Ah, wait for me-" Seokjin stumbled after, hand still around Jungkook. Jungkook didn't stop, but he grabbed Seokjin’s hand, pulling him forward towards the machine.
It was big, a bit taller than Seokjin, and filled with all kinds of candy as well as a few different types of soda.
"Chocolate for me," Jungkook pressed one button and Seokjin obediently laid his card on the sensor. "Hyung wants the dragon gummies..." Jungkook bit his lip while his own chocolate fell down, clicking the dragon's number right after.
Seokjin tapped his card again, smiling patiently as Jungkook made sure the gummies fell correctly into the opening.
"What do you want?" Jungkook turned, scanning Seokjin’s pretty face. Would Seokjin be mad if he licked it? The makeup was already a bit messed up from their kissing and napping earlier in the day.
"I'll take the little strawberries. Is that good?" Seokjin glanced at the machine, nodding to himself, and Jungkook nodded back, pressing the button and crouching to wait for the fall.
The fall didn't come.
"Ah, it's-" Jungkook stood, staring angrily at the last pack of strawberry gummies, rotating stupidly, still on its shelf. It wasn't falling down. The machine had failed. Seokjin would not be getting his gummies- he would starve.
Jungkook couldn't let him.
He threw himself to the floor, sticking his hand inside the slit to grab his chocolate and Yoongi’s dragon gummies, and then he was up on his feet, pulling Seokjin along by his elbow.
They didn't have much time. Jungkook would have to be quick settling them and then go hunting before the sun set. He could do it if he was just a bit quicker. If he didn't have to rely on the roads.
"Kook-ah," Seokjin stumbled a bit behind, so Jungkook picked him up, arms quickly growing stronger, and set a quick jog towards the studio.
Yoongi was already looking at him when the door slammed open, quickly rising to pack his backpack and find their jackets. He took one look at Jungkook frantically stuffing candy into Seokjin’s hoodie and then decided to leave Jungkook’s jacket out of it, knowing he would be very upset if it ripped.
Surely enough, after under a minute, Yoongi was stuffed into his jacket and blinded by a thick wool hat so big it could only be Namjoon’s.
Jungkook more shoved than herded them out of the studio and toward the elevators, hands on their backs pushing them forward one second and then running circles around them to check for danger the next.
They made it to the elevator without meeting anything for Jungkook to fight and then they were headed for the rooftop, pressed into a corner of the elevator with the length of Jungkook’s arms and the shadows of wings that had started appearing around him. Everything was quiet past the low rumble of electronics, Jungkook’s heavy breathing, and Seokjin’s mildly amused whisper.
“I’ll send a message to the group chat.”
