Chapter 1: Prologue
Chapter Text
“-The Great flour wars occurred from the 100s to 0BCE. Most of the information that is known surrounding this war has passed down by oral traditions from the Tribes in the Dark Cacao kingdom, and fragments of information that was both found dated before and after the war. The last fully documented information that may relate to the war is the rulers of the 5 kingdoms finding their Soul Jellies.
The Soul jellies are ancient relics that have only be documented once before and had primarily been thought to be mythological until evidence had shown otherwise.
The Jellies have been said to raise the power of the user 10x the normal amount. It also made the aging process slow enough that the 5 rulers still was able to move and fight like they were in their prime instead of their 40s and 50s. The jellies also were stated to be more powerful when all 5 were together, allowing for feats that are unnatural. Such as allowing some magic users to raise the dead when used by a powerful enough scorcer, however no existing records have mentioned this trait outside of oral tellings. However, due to evidence from the Dark Flour Wars it is stated that the jellies do raise the users power and strength exponentially. Enough that the Cacao King was able to raise entire armies with just a wave of his sword.
Even with the information that is not available we can still find pieces of a starting point for the wars. That is the rise of Dark Enchantress Cookie and her Cookies of Darkness.
No known History of Dark Enchantress Cookie exists, as the name she went by prior to her rise was lost to time and no records that do exist have any indication her name. Though we can assume that her heritage was in the Vanilla Kingdom, as her skill in magic would indicate some formal training gained. Along with this during this time those who were magic users mostly came from the Vanilla Kingdom. Her age would also place King Pure Vanilla Cookie as being in her year, though if there was any interaction with the two is unknown. She also may have some Berry or Cacao Kingdom background as her knowledge in battle tactics exceeded even some of the Generals for both kingdoms,
Dark Enchantress declared war when the standing Kings and Queens had refused to fight with her against the Witches. Stating that they are a disgrace to Cookie Kind. While leaving she is said to have cause the room that the Rulers refused her request to be set a blaze. The Fire destroyed the treaty and several other treaties between the kingdoms. Though 2 had managed to survive the fire.
Most primary sources of this war have been lost to time, however we can assume that each Kingdom entered the war at different points due to the declaration of wars dates. With the Berry Kingdom first in 15BCE, and the Vanilla Kingdom last in 2CE. The Berry Kingdom being the igniting force within the war against the Evil Forces after the battle of Dragon Valley. The Battle costing the lives of 500, 150 of which being civilians. The Golden Cheese Kingdom had been brought in due to a treaty they had signed with the Berry Kingdom for protection from outside forces. The, now non-existent, Kingdom was formidable foes in the skies being able to strike from above. Though this weakened them land wise. The Treaty allowed them to be protected by the Berry Kingdom, now known as the Hollyberry Empire. This also the Berry Kingdom to focus more on land war fare and lead striking blows in the west.
This treaty would later be used to cause the lasting standing Queen of the Golden Cheese Kingdom surrender to the Berry Kingdom and the Golden Cheese kingdom be taken over. With the surplus of Berry Warriors in the kingdom allowing the Empire to strike from the inside.
The Cacao Kingdom joined the war soon after the banishment of the Prince of the Kingdom. Evidence suggest that the Prince was banished due to interacting and working with Dark Enchantress. The King finding letters between the Prince and a warrior and igniting a fight that ended with the King badly hurt and the Queen sending the guards to attack the prince. The Prince was last stated to have been seen at the last battle of the War, but any information outside of a Daughter born in the Northern portion of the Empire well after the war had ended.
The tribal Kingdom was a formidable foe in both the land and sea. The King leading campaigns in the north and east after the introduction of the Vanilla Kingdom, now renamed Pure Vanilla Kingdom, and a surplus of healers allowed the Warriors to be healed while fighting on the field. It also allowed for weapons and other equipment to be enchanted, allowing for a military that was faster and stronger.
It is theorized that due to the healers in the Cacao Kingdom, now renamed the Dark Cacao Kingdom, The Vanilla Kingdom was able to stay in power in the east, though weakened. A letter found that was from the king of the Pure Vanilla kingdom to the king of the Dark Cacao kingdom threatened the removal of all Healers that were sent abroad into the empire. Causing the King to pull back it’s conquest into the Kingdom.
The Vanilla Kingdom didn’t intervene until the attack on the main city, which had taken the highest death toll civilian’s wise at a staggering 20,000 dead in the initial attack. With the wounded stacking up too 1,000 more. The Kingdom had joined forces with the Cacao Kingdom to push back. Providing healers and magic users into the fray and giving a previously non-existent edge in the war that had churned further. Finally, the entire war had escalated into the battle of Blueberry Yogurt Academy. The Final fight of the war and the destruction of the alliance the kingdoms had with the death of the 5 Rulers and Dark Enchantress. Subsequently ending the war.
The Battle took place sometime around 0BCE, and sources state that the ruling members of the kingdoms had taken part, King Dark Cacao, King Pure Vanilla, Queen Hollyberry, and Queen Golden Cheese. The fight, while any and all sources are either destroyed or unreliable, was said to be brutal and bloody. Taking place in the Blue Yogurt Acadamy, the Acadamy during this fight was destroyed and has never been found since the fight. It is Theorized that this battle was an ambush during a war meeting with the rulers. As only the Rulers, Dark enchantress and two of her top warriors were there.
The Rulers according to witness accounts had put up a large fight, holding their own well against the dark sorceress. After a long fight though their resources dwindled, and the rulers were weakened. Sources claim that the Pure Vanilla Cookie had casted a spell that obliterated everyone in the room. As a suicidal attempt to take care of Dark Enchantress, some sources claim that it was Dark Enchantress. However, the only constant is that the rulers disappeared and the soul jellies they had did too. The Blueberry Yogurt Academy being obliterated in the process.

Summary:
“It’s boring that’s what it is…”
Ginger Brave dropped his head back, holding his face sighing. Wizard Cookie rolled his eyes at the other teen’s response. Looking back to the large book in front of him. Strawberry Cookie was half asleep on the ground beside Wizard Cookie.

Warnings for: Eh...nothing really. Minor Cussing. OOC.
This is a longer one but I promise Chapter 2 isn't nearly as long as this, I kinda went overboard in this chapter.

Chapter Text
“It’s boring that’s what it is…”
Ginger Brave dropped his head back, holding his face sighing. Wizard Cookie rolled his eyes at the other teen’s response. Looking back to the large book in front of him. Strawberry Cookie was half asleep on the ground beside Wizard Cookie. Her Lollipop resting on the tree behind Ginger Brave. Papers and books seem to litter the ground around the group. The group was studying for an exam that was coming up. The Class was a history class so automatically Ginger Brave was dreading the study session they were going to go through. What wasn’t helping was the History they were learning being mostly dates and times, treaties and people. AKA Boring as hell and the bane of Ginger Braves existence.
Wizard Cookie looked over the page, humming. “You made it almost two pages before you broke my reading.” “Sorry, it’s just…” “Boring…” Strawberry Cookie said. “Yeah…” She bleped out her tongue and sat up, looking back at her notes and huffing. “What chapter are we even on?”
“Chapter 10, The Dark Flour Wars...We still need to cover the next two.”
Strawberry Cookie cursed, laying her head back.
Since the three had started school together and started to go on adventures together Strawberry Cookie started to open up a bit more. Willing to talk to them and study with them. She still struggled to answer questions or be put on the spotlight, but it still was a step in the right direction. His eyes drifted to the wizard again his face buried in the book.
“Gingerbrave! Strawberry! Wizard!”
Cookie Custard the III rushed to the group, smiling and laughing. He had his own stack of books, but he was younger than the group, being a 2nd year compared to the three being in 10th.
“Good evening, Cookie Custard, how was your day?”
The Group cleaned up their area as Cookie Custard talked excitedly about the Pure Vanilla Kingdom and its history. Cookie Custard was born and raised in the kingdom. His father being a high standing Duke. Even though the kid possibly knew everything that the history books had about the Kingdom, just from his own research and oral history. The history was a bit more watered down then what the older cookies were taught and made to learn, a lot of the battles not included and the most that they do learn about is the after and before. How the Dark Cacao Empire and The Holly Berry Empire grew and took down (or attempted too) the Golden Cheese and Pure Vanilla Kingdoms. Ginger brave was slightly jealous of the young cookie, being able to learn about the War but it is not a grueling as the older cookies were.
The group finished packing up, and Cookie Custard looked back at them excitedly.
“Can we go to the Ruins today?”
Wizard Cookie nodded, humming slightly.
“I see no harm in it, could let us focus on studying for a bit longer.”
“We can also explore a bit more. I think we still have the east wing to look through and find stuff in.”
The Ruins was a large castle-like structure that was built around 2,000 years ago judging by the architecture and the books and scrolls it held. Most of which were dated centuries before the Dark Flour War, even the Golden Cheese Kingdom, the second to oldest Kingdom to have existed. It seemed that it was still being used up to the War, possibly being destroyed during an attack by Dark Enchantress. It was just on the outskirts of the Hollyberry Empire and nestled in a wooded area with other ruins around it of an ancient city. Nature seeming to have claimed the area back for it’s own. Judging by the look of the outside, it was an old castle or noble man building for the Vanilla Kingdom. Limestone and marble for the walls with Lapis Lazuli highlighting the joints and roof. On the outside it looked that the building was almost intact nearly, however on the inside it was a completely different story.
The only place that the group has managed to get into safely has been the bottom floor of the palace. The upper levels having been completely destroyed and near impossible to get into without being a contortionist or breaking your neck due to the rubble and tree that grew out. This left mainly the library, some offices it looked, and the basement fully intact. The library was mainly where the group spent time together. Wizard cookie taking to it like a dry log in a fire. Rushing to read as much as he could, before realizing most of the language that was there was long dead. A few of the ancient articles that weren’t were towards the end of the Dark Flour war, those they could translate as Cookie Custard knew the language well enough that he read it and one of the others writing down what he said. Though Wizard Cookie still attempted to read the older texts, trying to decipher them using magic or comparing it to languages that they knew today. (Vanillian, Cacaoin, Berryish, etc.)
“That sounds good to me. Maybe you can use that spell you found earlier to translate the texts we can’t read.”
Wizard Cookie smiled at Strawberry Cookies suggestion.
“And I want to check something out that the book mentioned...something doesn’t seem right about it.”
The Group was walking now, passing by other Students. Ginger Brave had Cookie Custards hand as the group walked. He tended to have a habit of running off when the group wasn’t paying attention.
“What isn’t right about it?”
“Well, for starters, the book doesn’t mention anything about one of Pure Vanillas top advisors. She practically ran the kingdom half the time as he was off doing more diplomatic work with the Cacao Kingdom’s king. She was there and she held one of the Soul Jellies.”
Wizard Cookie hummed. Looking at the book again quickly skimming through it.
“You are correct, and the author for this is a resident of the Pure Vanilla Kingdom…”
Strawberry Cookie nodded, looking back at the book.
“They also get a share of the Berry Kingdoms history off. They hardly mention Queen Hollyberry in the chapter about the war. Same with Queen Golden Cheese. When they do they don’t mention them by name.”
Strawberry Cookie was looking through her bag as she spoke. She found and pulled out a book. This book, compared to the light brown, was a light pink. There was a shield on it and the title was in Berryish but on the front it looked like the shield of Hollyberry. She opened it and looked through it seemed. Before looking back up to Wizard Cookie. Who still had his face in the book, though he was flipping through the pages quickly.
“I’ve noticed that too…”
“The book also uses theories more than most do…”
Wizard Cookie commented further, looking through the book as the group turned into the wooded area. Ginger Brave lead, pulling his candy cane out Cookie Custard had his scepter out too. The area wasn’t that bad, however due to the fact that Dark Magic wasn’t gone right when Dark Enchantress was monsters still liked to hide around the corner. Strawberry cookie took her lollipop out and the group stuck together closely, staying silent now. They listened for anything, monsters or beasts that may be lurking around. The moment they saw sign of the Ruins, they rushed forward and into the large palace, the moment that Wizard Cookie ran in the moment Ginger Brave slammed the door shut.
The group took a moment to catch their breaths, watching the door for any signs of a cake monster trying to break their way in but no such sign came through. Wizard Cookie and Strawberry Cookie shoved their books into their bags and the group made their way eastward to the library. Cookie Custard ran forward in front of the group excitedly. Wizard Cookie speed walking too. Ginger Brave lagged behind the group, humming softly to himself. He stuck his candy cane into its sheaf on his back. He walked past the shelves and to the door that separated the library and a different room. Large oaken doors originally had rubble in front of them that Ginger brave and Strawberry Cookie managed to pull out of the way. Now it was just opening the door that they didn’t have enough time to do the last time they came.
He grabbed the rusted handle and pulled, holding his breath as he used his full weight to pull the large door open. The hinges screamed out in complaint as it did. He heard cursing from Wizard Cookie who shot around to see his friend pulling on the door. Strawberry Cookie ran covering her ears wincing. After 2 minutes of pulling Ginger Brave let the handle go and the door didn’t move. He sucked in a breath and nearly collapsed.
“Why didn’t you ask for help?!”
Wizard Cookie ran over to help Ginger Brave stabilize his breathing and standing.
“You guys ran off-”
Cookie Custard ran in holding a group of papers.
“Hey, I found-You got the Door open?!”
He said excitedly, rushing forward. Ginger Brave nodded, letting out an extra breath and turning to the doorway. It led to a cylindrical staircase. Ginger Brave cursed and sat up. Forgetting that Cookie Custard was there.
The 8-year-old gave him a curious look confused.
“Fuck?”
Wizard Cookie glared at him.
___________________________
After Ginger Brave wasn’t about to die anymore the group got ready to fight in case it came to it. Ginger Brave had to explain to Cookie Custard that he wasn’t allowed to cuss until he was much older, and Wizard Cookie backed him up. Strawberry Cookie was making sure that they had enough Potions that she snuck from her potions class to get through a fight if they did silently count as she did so. She looked up when Wizard Cookie grabbed his bag and flung it over his shoulder.
“Ready to go?”
He asked looking to her, she nodded humming softly. Grabbing her lolipop, Ginger Brave grabbed Cookie Custard’s hand and led the group to the staircase. They walked through the doorway and looked around. The Walls were chipped and broken under the vines. The windows were blocked in by the trees from the outside. The Stairs seemed to be intact mostly. There was no guardrail along the side of the staircase, as it was on the floor in pieces.
Looking up to the ceiling, it seemed that the stairs went up for miles, with very little breaks. Windows peppered along the wall and the higher up they went the brighter the area became. Though considering that it was going to start getting dark soon it wouldn’t be for long. Wizard Cookie went to the Window and broke 3 large branches off, being careful he lit the ends of them with some fire magic and handed them off to Ginger Brave and Strawberry Cookie.
The group started walking up the stairs, watching were they stepped and making sure they stayed clear of the edge of the stairs to avoid falling. After a while a loud crash echoed out. The group stalled and looked down, Wizard cookie walking back a few feet to take a look to see what it was before rushing back up and too the group.
“The door is closed.”
“What?”
“The door’s shut on its own. I guess the hinges couldn’t handle the weight of it anymore.”
“Do you think that we would be able to open it again?”
“I mean, yeah. If you got it open on your own before then I think that the 3 of us together should be able to open it easily.”
“Should we continue on to the top?”
Wizard Cookie looked back and frowned. Thinking it seemed. Strawberry Cookie also walked down and looked back. A frown on her face as she watched the door.
“I think we should continue on.”
She said softly. Walking back up.
“Something doesn’t feel right about this…”
Wizard Cookie nodded, humming, before shivering slightly.
“There’s strong magic in use.”
“...Now? Where?”
Strawberry cookie asked confused. Squinting her eyes.
Strawberry Cookie had small magical abilities. Though most was only good for making Potions and small defense charms that most Hollyberry Kingdom residents learn when they are younger. She must’ve not felt it, but Wizard Cookie did.
“Very strong...very old...I felt it when we first entered but I didn’t think anything of it...but now…”
“It’s stronger as were going isn’t it…?”
“Yeah...It’s like a push and pull...Like someone trying to get us to leave but also asking for help…”
“...That can’t be possible can it…?”
“no...unless there are two magical users In the area but…”
He winced again.
“We need to go…”
“Where?”
Ginger Brave was getting freaked out. Unlike his 3 friends he didn’t have any way to cast magic, he didn’t have a magical bone in his body.
“We need to go up and help…”
He said again his voice was smaller, quiet almost like in a trance. Strawberry Cookie looked at him confused. Would she feel it too?
“How are you feeling this, but me and Cookie Custard aren't?”
“I... I don’t know…”
Wizard Cookie winced again, looking up. He started forward again leading the way, holding onto the wall. Ginger Brave and Strawberry Cookie shared worried looks before heading after him, Ginger Brave taking Cookie Custard and flinging him onto his shoulders. The kid held onto Ginger brave as the two rushed to keep up with Wizard cookie. Wizard Cookie seemed to not really care that much about not falling and taking the breaking steps two at a time. His feet stomping and echoing out throughout the room.
Finally, the small group makes it. The doors hinges were almost rusted out. The handle was rusted too, making it almost impossible to lift up and use.
Ginger Brave sat Cookie Custard down and walked forward, he grabbed the handle and yanked, using his full body strength to try and pull the door open. He fell back when his hand slipped, and the wind was knocked out of him. Strawberry Cookie tried next, much to the same result though this time she didn’t fall on her backside, just stumbled a bit. The Group then all took a turn to full on the handle together, or to push the door, coming up with similar results. The door wouldn’t budge, it seemed that something on the inside was holding it closed, or the hinges were degraded to the point of being in operable.
“Maybe we-WIZARD COOKIE-”
Ginger Brave barely managed to shield the other’s without thinking with his body before the door busted apart. Wizard Cookies magic flowed through out the room, sparks of indigo and whisps of gold flew throughout the room.
“What the fuck?!”
Strawberry Cookie screamed. Her own magic, a soft pink flowing from her hands and circling the three who were at risk of being flown back. Her hood was down, showing her fluffy white hair. Wizard Cookie ignored the two and walked forward. The three shared a look and walked forward following the cookie.
The room wasn’t destroyed when Wizard Cookie set off that blast, though it wasn’t like there was much left to destroy after time took her claim. There were very few bookshelves high as the ceiling, though looking further there was evidence that there was more. The walls were lined with moth eaten rugs and tapestries. Books that weren’t completely destroyed were in languages that are are unknown or dead to the young cookies. Spiders hung from the corners of the room, cobwebs and dust bunnies all around the room. Though, it looked like part of the area was destroyed in a fight, a battle. Scars of magic and sword cut through the walls and bookshelves. Books were destroyed by magic too.
“That’s the old Hollyberry empire’s mark…”
Strawberry cookie said looking to the wall. The pink tapestry, while filled with holes and part of it looked charred, He could see the heart Shield and soul jelly.
“...Wizard Co-”
“Guys…?”
Wizard cookie’s voice came from the back of the room, causing the three to where he was and they all stalled, seeing what him had looking terrified.
5 statues decorated in a semi-circle like pattern. Two men and three women, against the wall there seemed to be an outline of a shadow, someone with horns it looked like. One man looked to be a cleric of some kind, another man was over top of him holding him and protecting him. The man on the ground held out one hand. Beside the two was a sword and cape. The Sword looked to be made of dark iron, the hilt had a dip in it that may have had a gem in it that was long since stolen. The cape and its latch looked to be in perfect condition, despite every other cloth in the room being ruined. The only thing off about it was that the latch seemed to be missing something. One woman was holding up her hands, bracing for something it looked like. In front of her it looked like a sheild...a very...familiar shield…was on the ground. It was faced down but Ginger Brave could assume what would be in the middle if they flipped it over. Two women were almost against the wall. One woman had wings and they were wrapped around the two, their faces buried together. No weapons or artifacts seemed to be around the two but a staff was against the furthest wall to the left that Ginger Brave saw. Fear was on the statues faces, or they looked like they were in pain.
Or both…
Wizard Cookie walked forward, laying a hand on the shoulder of the lone woman statue, closing his eyes he seemed to think for a moment. An Indigo light shone around his hand, he jolted away looking at the statue horrified.
“It..It’s alive…”
“What?”
“It’s alive...or something about it is…”
“Is that Queen Hollyberry…?”
Ginger brave asked tentatively, Wizard Cookie shot back and quickly nodded.
“Yeah...Looks like her…”
He clarified, stepping back. He looked down to the shield and picked it up gently, like it was some kind of bomb that was going to go off when he lifted it up. He then looked between the sword and shield before dropping the shield and backing away.
“T-This is where the Rulers last were…”
Strawberry Cookie walked to the sheild and lifted it up. Sucking in a breath she picked it up fully, with some struggle, and showed it to Ginger Brave. She looked around worried between the group.
“King Dark Cacao’s sword is-”
“Do-Don’t use their names…”
“Why?”
“It feels like their all screaming when you do…”
“I...Well the King of the Cacao kingdom’s swords over there...Next to the Vanilla rulers cape…”
“...Somehow that's worse…”
“What are they saying?”
Ginger Brave asked, looking to the cookie curiously. He walked over to the sword and set his candy cane down he grabbed the hilt, and with some struggling he picked the sword up and set it against the old king.
“...Thats not where it goes…”
Wizard Cookie said. He was completely frozen, staring at the ground as he spoke. His eyes looked far off, like he wasn’t there anymore.
“What-”
Ginger Brave looked around and finally saw the sheaf on his side. He sucked in a breath and picked up the sword, struggling to pick it up enough to put it away. He managed too after a few minutes and shove it in the sheaf.
Purple lines and swirls decorated the sheaf, then they twisted up and around the rock. Cutting through and making the room glow. The lines danced across the rock in various shapes, some looking familiar but other’s not, the lines out lined the dip in the hilt. Ginger Brave looked back to see what the others looked like, Wizard cookie still looked out of it and Strawberry Cookie had a worried look on her face, looking around the room.
“Does she want her shield-”
“Yes…”
Ginger Brave walked over and helped strawberry cookie lift and hook the shield onto the statue’s arm. Which mainly was him having his hands on her back as she lifted the shield up. Out of the corner of his eyes Cookie Custard rushed over to the cape and looked it over, looking at the latch. He turned back just as he heard the sound of the shield hooked onto the statues arm. The same thing happened as with Dark Cacao. Red hot lines danced around her, symbols of hearts dancing across her arms and skin, out lining the dip in her shield while also highlighting the pie decoration on it. They looked over just as Cookie Custard laid the cape across the statue underneath Dark Cacao cookie. This time Light blue lines decorated the statue, all of them comping together on his hand in a clover decoration. The light from all three mixing together and flashing around the room. Lighting up the room as they all looked around for the other artifacts.
They found White Lilies staff and Cookie custard stuck it in her hand and immediately green lines formed all around the woman. None of the lines that decorated the statues was bleeding over, only decorating the owners of the statute. Wizard Cookie also continued to stand completely still, mouthing something constantly.
“Where’s the last one?”
Strawberry Cookie asked, looking at Queen Golden Cheese Cookie. She was looking down, her forehead rubbing against White Lilies forehead.
“It’s her Crown right...we just need to find it.”
Ginger Brave said, looking around. The magic lit up the room nearly perfectly, it was enough that the nighttime was on them and it still looked to be day light in the room. Strawberry Cookie focused on side of the room where Golden Cheese was, looking under everything. Ginger brave focused on the other side with the help of Cookie Custard who seemed excited to figure out this mystery.
“Maybe we’re letting their spirts free!”
He said excitedly, and Ginger Brave nodded, humming softly.
Maybe they were and Wizard Cookie was speaking to their spirits.
Maybe they were about to unleash some evil onto the world, Ginger Brave didn’t know.
Strawberry cookie cried out after 30 minutes of searching, holding up the golden head piece. It looked exactly like the day it was made, just a bit dusty.
Strawberry Cookie climbed on top of Ginger Brave’s shoulders and helped Cookie Custard onto hers handing him the crown to put on top of Golden Cheese’s head.
They nearly fell a few times, stumbling and tripping a bit and cursing. However, the small cookie was able to place the crown on the woman's head. As soon as he did golden lines decorated the statue, tracing the crown and the dip in the middle of it. Then the lines seemed to finally melt into one another, flowing across the ground and cutting out the symbols of the dips in the items. The light getting brighter.
The three fell finally, Ginger Brave immediately getting up and holding his arms out to protect his friends. Wizard Cookie looked like he finally broke out of it and jumped back from the center of the room. He got behind Ginger Brave and conjured a shield around the group, so did Strawberry Cookie. Cookie custard got scared and hid his face in the leg of Ginger Brave. The small group backed away as the light got larger and brighter, making them all wince or shield their eyes.
Finally, a loud explosion sounded out, and they shot to the ground. Ginger Brave over the others.
After a few minutes of the light dimming Ginger Brave opened his eyes and looked back, seeing what the hell happened. Voices sounded out and his eyes widened at what he saw.
The 5 statues were stumbling around, shaking off the rocks that held them tightly. Dark Cacao Cookie was helping Pure Vanilla up, and Golden Cheese was looking over White lily. Hollyberry was stumbling a bit, talking in a language that was long since dead.
The group met eachothers eyes finally, looked eachother over with confusion mixed with horror on their faces.
They all screamed.
Notes:
Notes to keep in mind for the ancients and younger cookies.
1. Ginger Brave, Strawberry Cookie, and Wizard Cookie are all Teenagers, so they act stupid-ish.
2. Chili pepper Cookie I keep on forgetting to add for some reason, so I don't have her appearing in chapter 2 or 3, whoops. (Chapter 4 I look into adding her.)
3. Cookie Custard is around 8 years old. Yes, this is very young to be running around saving the world, but he's always read as a bratty little kid to me. Idk.
4. The Ancients, obviously, don't know or realize how much everything has changed and how much they left behind. They also come from a very different time than the current cookies. Take this as you will.
5. Ages for the ancients: I have them all as being middle aged, in my head they attended Blueberry Yogurt academy around the same time, but I don't want to give actual ages, mainly due to the fact I don't want to say one thing then turn around and say another by mistake.
6. The Ancients also are not full power exactly. They are still strong af, but without the Soul Jellies they can't do anything extreme.
7. Magic users are able to concentrate their skill and power into something while also having General Magic stuff. (Ie Defense, or Potions, or Healing.) Some families are stronger in some areas then others, IE Cookie Custards Family being healers.Any Criticism is welcome, be respectful in the comments.
Chapter 3: Chapter 2: Five Ancients

Notes:
Nothing really to say, This is the shortest chapter so far. Currently working on Chapter 4, and I will edit through 3 in the meantime.

Chapter Text
Hollyberry had her shield held up, though her arm was shaking.
Dark Cacao tried to keep Pure Vanilla hidden but the other was still watching the two, his hands out and ready to attack. White Lily was backed against the wall using her staff to stabilize herself, but her eyes was locked on the group in front of her. Golden Cheese found a Rock and looked ready to throw it at the 5 younger cookies if they dared to move so much a crumb out of line.
“Who in the legends name are you?”
Hollyberry Cookie asked, holding the shield up. Her voice was low and dark, booming around the room in such a way that Ginger Brave wanted to bow and explain why they were there. Though he stood his ground ready to fight if these cookies that seemed so benevolent actually wasn’t. Hollyberry stood at the forefront, ready to protect her friends if need be. Though she was shaking, in pain it looked like. All of her strength seemed to go into her standing and holding the shield. All of them looked weak and like they were fighting to just stand.
“Wha-How-?”
Confusion filled the faces of the ancient Cookies, they all looked at eachother until Dark Cacao spoke.
“Who are you…?”
Wizard Cookie’s eyes widened.
“They don’t know the modern forms of their language…”
“Fuck-”
Wizard Cookie shoved his hand into his bag making the Ancients freeze and hold up their weapons, Ginger Brave held up his hands, hoping they would take it as a sign they aren’t a threat. Finding his notebook with the translations they were able to find he pulled off the paper, setting it off to the side before finding a pencil and writing down something using the translation page. They were only able to translate a handful of words, meaning they had that many to work with. Wizard Cookie read it over it seemed a few times, making sure that he wrote it correctly before holding it up.
“How are you Alive?”
It took a moment for the group to read it, Hollyberry squinting at it in confusion before speaking.
“None of your business, now tell us who you are…”
“Explain that we can’t understand them…”
“I don’t think-”
Ginger Brave made a motion with his hand.
“Charades?”
“What the- Are you kidding?”
“It’s the best we have, Unless we find a stronger translation spell that we can read then were at a stand still.”
Ginger Brave said and Wizard Cookie thought for a moment before nodding.
“Fair enough.”
He wrote down something quickly.
“We don’t understand”
Vanilla cookie held up the note pad and motioned with his hand, it was of a snake puppet talking it looked like. The Ancients who had their eyes open, weirdly Pure Vanilla kept his eyes closed as the conversation was going on, was looking confused at Wizard Cookie before it clicked and Hollyberry said something in her language before dropping her shield. Dark Cacao said something to Pure Vanilla who nodded, turning his hands into fists he mouthed something, before wincing. The magic around his hands faltered a bit. Beside Ginger Brave Wizard Cookie muttered ‘he’s too weak…’ before Pure Vanilla let out a laugh.
“I promise young one I’m stronger that it may seem.”
Wizard Cookie cursed and jumped back from shock. Dark Cacao chuckled a bit at the reaction, and Hollyberry sighed, rubbing the back of her neck. White Lily walked forward.
“Now...Explain…”
-----------
The group explained as much as they could, from finding the ruins during an expedition, to finding this place, then freeing the five. They explained the trance that Wizard Cookie was in, the books they tried to translate. They also dropped the bomb that the ancients have been gone for almost 1,000 years. Each of them had a shocked and horrified look on their face. Pure Vanilla some how reacting without his eyes being open. Though he did clench his hands, looking down at the ground.
“1,000 years?! Hold up what-”
Golden Cheese asked, standing up. Her voice was erratic, like lightning bolts shooting through the sky. Her wings were all spread out and her feathers looked ruffled. White Lily managed to calm her down and lead her back down the ground. Running a hand through the golden wings.
“1,000 years...According to history you all were obliterated when someone let off a spell.”
Ginger Brave said nibbling on the end of his candy cane. He wasn’t that invested into the conversation like Wizard Cookie and Strawberry Cookie were, he had no connections to any of these kingdoms, being formed in the Witches Oven and finding his way to Crispia. But he still was listening and offering some conversation.
“Mama says that you just left, disappeared one night to face Dark Enchantress Cookie so the kingdom assumed you all died and took the town with it…”
Custard Cookie continued, laying his head in his arms. The 8-year-old was from the Pure Vanilla Kingdom, being a lord of the place. (Though he has yet to receive that title being 8.) Strawberry cookie spoke up too.
“...Same with my grandma she says the same thing…”
“And where do you two happen to be from?”
“I’m from the Hollyberry Empire.”
Strawberry Cookie said shyly. While the Hollyberry empire was a bit more well received throughout Crispia it stills still comparable to being the lesser of two evils. More ‘civilized’ than the Dark Cacao Empire but still land hungry and wanting to expand its reach. Even those these people were from centuries ago Ginger Brave assumes that it’s from the usual reaction...also because this is the most she’s said to these people in the 2 hours they explained most of what they could. Shock came across the older cookies faces, looking between each other wondering if they heard correct.
“’Hollyberry Empire?’”
Hollyberry cookie asked, confused. Her voice was soft, and her eyes was watching Strawberry Cookie intently. Strawberry Cookies face fell and she shared a look with everyone. These guys were rulers, and one of the kingdoms wasn’t even existing anymore. How would they react…? Wizard Cookie leaned back on his palms closing his eyes. Seeming to take the hit for explaining the last 1,000 years for the group.
“Shortly after the war the alliance between the 5 kingdoms started to crumble. The Cacao Kingdom was left without a ruler and the Berry Kingdom’s next ruler was too young to be in charge. So advisories took over,”
Hollyberry’s fists clenched and she closed her eyes, Dark Cacao clenched his arms.
“ Well...The advisors wanted to expand to make up for the nightmare that Dark Enchantress caused. Get more money…”
Wizard Cookie seemed to think for a moment. His eyes far off as he did so.
“So...they started to attack the borders of the Vanilla Kingdom, and the Golden Cheese Kingdom.”
It was silent for a few moment, though the young cookies could feel the rage radiating off of the group.
“The Vanilla Kingdom only was able to stand up against the Hollyberry Empire because they were able to come to an agreement on land that they would keep and so on, for the Cacao Kingdom they threatened with removing the healers and using their magic against them all that was placed there when The King married the-”
“What about the Golden Cheese Kingdom?”
Golden Cheese said hopeful, her eyes lit up. White Lily cookie also had a small hopeful smile on her face. Ginger Brave cringed, watching as Wizard Cookie thought over his words. His fingers clenching slightly before moving in in himself.
“It...It was taken over by the Hollyberry Empire.”
The room became silent, Golden Cheese cookie looked like she completely deflated at the news, White Lily cookie hugged her.
“I-What-”
“...Depends on who you ask, but what we were told is that they used a treaty that basically in trade for protection on the land, they would offer protection over the sky. The Empire was just the larger one who won out throughout the two.”
Golden Cheese had her face buried in her legs, White Lily Cookie wrapped one of her arms around the other woman. Laying her head against her head. Wizard Cookie continued, speaking quickly now.
“After that, The Vanilla Kingdom closed it’s borders, anyone from the Cacao Empire is denied entrance. The Hollyberry Empire closed it’s borders pretty much too. Only those seeking higher education can come in…”
The Ancients sat with that information, until Hollyberry Cookie attempted to get up, but she stumbled back panting. Leaning on the wall she looked at her hand, let out a breath, clenching her fist and eyes.
“Why am I so weak…?”
“1,000 years…”
Pure Vanilla said softly, leaning on Dark Cacao. Dark Cacao wrapped an arm around him looking just as shocked as he was. Golden Cheese was staring at the ground, unable to say anything, an unreadable expression on her face. White Lily trying to give her comfort though her face showed just as much confusion and worry that made Ginger Braves stomach twist and turn. Wizard Cookie was done speaking now, he was looking at the ground. None of the Younger Cookies could meet the ancients in the eyes. Strawberry Cookie had her hood up and hiding her face. Cookie Custards face was buried in his arms, unable to look at the ancient rulers. Ginger Brave was looking off to the side, thinking.
Just a few hours ago he was complaining about the books he was being made to read it feels like...Stuff he already knew, didn’t need to have elaboration on. 3 Kingdoms in Crispia okay good didn’t need to know why they were all at each other's throats. But...These people's lives were just turned upside down, ripped apart for some. 1,000 years is comprehensible to some but the amount of change it causes isn’t. He curled in on himself, feeling like he just dropped the worse news to the group he could, even though he wasn’t the one talking...
They couldn’t go back and re-write history...Magic can’t rip through time like that unless you were one of the legends. Which none of them were. Even though they had the most powerful magic user on the earthbed.
“...Was Dark Enchantress vanquished?”
White Lily asked, worried it sounded like, her eyes drifting around the Room, Out of the Corner of Ginger Brave’s eye he saw Pure Vanilla tense up and he looked back over. Wizard Cookie cleared his throat.
“Possibly...she was...whatever you guys did might’ve killed her...though most of her followers are still around.”
“Possibly?! Who are her followers?!”
“First off nobody knows for sure what happened to her, like you guys. Second, her Followers Licorice Cookie, Pomegranate Cookie, Schwarzwälder, and Dark Choco and a few others all are still around that would be from your time, but there’s a dozen or so more that joined over the years…So the full list is actually quite long and... How many names are there now…?”
Wizard Cookie mumbled to himself, rubbing his chin as he spoke quietly. Dark Cacao looked to the window, watching as the moon rose up in the sky. He seemed to think to himself while Pure Vanilla shifted a bit. 'Looking' to the ground before lifting his head to the young Cookies.
“Do you know where they happen to be most active?”
Pure Vanilla’s voice asked softly. Wizard Cookie snapped out of his train of thought before humming.
“Ah...My sources say that they are most active here, but each territory has their own pockets of Activity. Dragon Valley in Hollyberry, major parts of the Choco Tribes lands have pockets. However over time it shifts…”
Wizard Cookie seems to be deep in though, muttering to himself. Before realizing everyone was watching and so he started to blubber, his cheeks turning red.
“I-Well my sources state here is the most active and has consistently been the most active…”
Pure Vanilla cookie seemed to think over what Wizard Cookie said, but White Lily spoke up quickly.
“Just with cake beings or-”
“Both, Dark Choco seems to have frequent sightings in the area, same with Red Velvet Cookie, though his last sighting was a while agon, but where he goes cake monsters are sure to follow him close behind.”
“Then we should leave…”
Dark Cacao spoke and Golden Cheese let out a harsh laugh.
“To where? My Kingdom is destroyed, Yours and Hollyberrys are unrecognizable, and Pure Vanilla and White Lily-”
“We are safe, here for now, though I don’t know how long that will last.”
Pure Vanilla said, quietly. Looking at Golden Cheese and Dark Cacao. He thumbed the clasp on his cape.
“Though I doubt for long, if we have returned then her followers will assume she has.”
“Nobody has came here in Decades...When we got here I had to blast the door off it’s hinges. The Hard ware is so rusted and melted that it was impossible to open other wise.”
Wizard Cookie said, humming softly.
“It’s the safest place for you all right now, and with the Kingdoms at each other’s throats its the only place you guys have a modicum of safety…”
“...So your saying we sit and do nothing?”
Dark Cacao asked, his voice rumbling through out the group. Anger fueling his voice. Wizard Cookie’s face turned a dark red, before shaking his head frantically.
“Ah. Not what we are saying at all your highness! Just that right now…”
“There is nothing we can do…”
The Ancients were silent, White Lily looked at her staff and tumbed the dip at the top, where her soul Jelly would’ve gone.
“You said you do not know where these are correct…?”
“Yes, we do not know where they are miss.”
“Do your people have any theories…?”
She asked, looking at it.
“Somewhat, none of them hold any water…Just all that boils down too is that the Strawberry Soul Jelly is the only one we know the location of…”
“Who has it-”
“Dark Choco Cookie….”
Pure Vanilla said quietly, and Wizard Cookie blundered over his words, before nodding.
“Yup, Said to have turned his eyes red as strawberry jam and turn his heart as black as coal…”
“Can we not talk about our son anymore?”
Ginger Brave peaked at the words but before he could say anything Wizard Cookie hastily apologized. He fell back sighing. Maybe a miss saying...
_______________________________
The younger cookies walked through the forest, keeping their eyes locked in the dark. Monsters swished in the bushes and forests. The sound of growling sometimes coming through, waning the group that if they don’t take caution they could end up with their filling on the ground. Cooke Custard hung off of Ginger Brave’s back, half asleep. The group left quietly, leaving the 5 ancients to discuss things among themselves. How they would proceed forward. Part of Ginger Brave wondered why they didn’t just walk into their Kingdoms, announce their presence. However, that may set off the war again, or maybe those in charge now would fight them on it.
Ginger Brave saw something out of the corner of his eye, something red. Looking over he held his breath seeing red eyes staring at him. He opened his mouth to warn the others but by the time he could the figure disappeared into the woods. Looking forward he saw Wizard Cookie holding out his staff, ready to blast, and Strawberry Cookie held out her lollipop, watching closely to the right, Ginger Brave was on the left. Looking back, he saw where the opening for the forest was and focused on that, ignoring the eyes that looked in before.
The group made it without any more troubles, Ginger Brave looking back as they walked, he expected halfway to see the red eyes looking back at him again. Watching as his group walks away and into Town to drop Cookie Custard off at his palace. They never appeared again, even when Strawberry Cookie split off to go to her home. He and Wizard Cookie made it back to their place. Ginger Brave going to his room in their shared home and pulling back the covers in his bed and laying down, covering his face with his hands as he thought for a moment.
What could they do?
They couldn’t walk out of the ruins that night so they had to stay while Ginger Brave’s group could easily walk in and out. Legends it felt like they were walking into their home. He noticed how the group looked at each other when they left, how quickly they took to speaking to each other when Ginger Brave and his friends left.
He dropped his hands and rolled over, huffing and shutting his eyes tightly. Along with that how Dark Cacao acted when they would bring up Dark Choco. His hands tightening around the hilt, his eyes darting around looking ashamed. How Hollyberry was relieved that her son was okay after the war. How White Lily would look over to Golden Cheese who deflated when they were told about the fall of the Golden Cheese Kingdom and the death of its subjects or her history being put in museums. It felt like they woke up after a thousand years to a nightmare that they had no way of knowing or preparing for.
He opened his eyes and shot up, backing away.
Two red eyes stared into his room from the window.

Chapter Text
“Who was Queen White Cacao and what were the years was she alive?”
Strawberry Cookie asked, looking at her flash cards. Ginger Brave groaned, his head nodding off and on slightly. He wasn’t able to sleep the last few nights, the red eyes staring into his room being a good condition as to why.
They were back at the ruins, letting them study in relative silence.
The ancients seemed to grow bored, wandering around the ruins as much as they could, White Lily and Pure Vanilla mostly reading, Golden Cheese not leaving her Girlfriends side for anything, and Hollyberry and Dark Cacao took to wrestling. Right now they were tied. The younger cookies also took to trying to get stuff for them too do along with food and such from the market. Wizard Cookie taking to checking out books from the schools library, Cookie Custard took to telling Pure Vanilla the news about the Vanilla Kingdom, Strawberry with Hollyberry and when Chili Pepper made it over to the Ruins she took to letting Golden Cheese know about the Golden Cheese area in Hollyberry. Ginger Brave looked for ways to get news papers of the Dark Cacao kingdom but it was near impossible being a Cookie thats not from the Dark Cacao.
Right now the younger Cookies were studying for that big History test they had coming up. Ginger Brave stumbling through the questions that Wizard Cookie and Strawberry Cookie quizzed him on.
“Fuck I-”
“She was Dark Cacao’s wife, the mother of Dark Choco Cookie...She lived from-”
“I didn’t marry a woman…?”
Dark Cacao said walking over to look over Strawberry Cookie’s shoulder who shrunk down. Wizard Cookie looked up from his Book, confusion on his face. Him and Ginger Brave shared a look before looking back too Dark Cacao.
“According to marriage records, you have, a woman from the Vanilla Kingdom...though you never had any painting-”
“Whats going on?”
Pure Vanilla walked over, looking between the group confused. His hands held together and he was looking at the ground, just listening to them all.
“Apparently were not married in these children’s history books.”
Wizard Cookie choked on his spit, shock on his face.
“I’m just saying-What-?”
“Not the worse thing History has covered up exactly…”
Strawberry Cookie said softly, looking to the book.
“Yes child, we are married, in both of our Kingdoms.”
Ginger Brave looked to the book, confusion on his face.
“Why would they cover that? You’d think that a marriage between two royals is sacred and would have better documentation of it.”
“Because dear Ginger Brave, Anything outside of being 'normal and other practices of the such are particularity...frowned upon. If you remember The Pure Vanilla Kingdom only recently allowed for Gay Marriage, while in The Hollyberry Empire it’s still illegal. I don’t even know-”
“Eh It was Illegal when I was-”
“It was made illegal about 500 years after you all fell, and it’s illegal to this day…”
Wizard Cookie said quickly.
“Gods their fucking up my-”
“I- Language there are children here.”
“I’ve heard worse…”
Cookie Custard piped up from beyond the bookshelves, running to the group holding a book.
“He’s heard worse…”
Wizard Cookie confirms looking up from the book he was buried in. He noticed the book in Cookie Custards arms.
“I’m the heir to the house Custard! My father is a general of the 23rd battalion! They train just outside of my room and-”
“Military talk.”
Dark Cacao said laughing to himself. Pure Vanilla chuckled a bit himself before looking back to the young boy after rolling his eyes.
“What book do you have there?”
“It’s the first one I found that actually talks about you guys and your feats! I was able to translate it with the spell that Wizard Cookie was taught by Espresso Cookie and-”
Cookie Custard dropped the book on the table. Ginger Brave moved a bit over so White Lily could walk in and see what they all were fussing about. Golden Cheese Cookie flew up and watched the table. Wizard Cookie lit a candle with magic and pushed it to Cookie Custard Cookie Custard flipped to around the middle of the book and across both pages was a large picture.
“I was finally able to find an old image of you guys!”
The Picture was split up into 5, each one highlighted by a color. Purple for Dark Cacao, Hot pink for Hollyberry, Pale Blue for Pure Vanilla, a fire-y orange for Golden Cheese, and a pale green for White Lily. Each of their soul jellies were at their rightful place with their titles at the bottom. Truth be told, this was the first painting that He’s seen for the group. Even though he’s lived in the Pure Vanilla Kingdom for 2 years now.
“It’s the first one I’ve ever seen! And the fact it’s almost in perfect condition!”
“It is in Admirable condition, and the fact you were able to translate would be of some help for my own research.”
Wizard Cookie said softly, looking over the page with the group.
“I remember when they had that done of us! It was shortly after we took down the beasts!”
Golden Cheese Cookie called out laughing. Flying down a little closer.
“The beasts?”
Ginger Brave asked, confused. He noticed Wizard Cookie looked shocked before it dissipated.
“The Beasts were the original holders of the Soul Jellies, They are still around but their dormant and no longer active.”
“They put up a fight...At least until the Jellies transferred too us.”
White Lily added looking at the boy, her eyes narrowing after a moment before she looked just as Cookie Custard started rambling again.
“My father thought all paintings of you all was destroyed!”
“...What?”
Golden Cheese dropped down and onto the ground beside White Lily cookie, looking confused. He voice was soft though and Only Ginger Brave heard her.
“I thought they were all destroyed too, at least that’s what professor Espresso Cookie always said, and he’s from the Dark Cacao Kingdom!”
“Dad also said that to the commoners that the paintings were destoryed.”
“Eh, that should be impossible!”
Wizard Cookie looked to Hollyberry confused. Reading her face and body language.
“Each of us has over 2 dozen done of singular paintings! I know I’ve had more done!”
Hollyberry said, looking confused but also borderline angry. Ginger Brave looked as the realization dawned on Wizard Cookie, His eyes furrowed.
“The most I know is that when the capitols shifted, a fire broke out in most of them and destroyed a lot of royal artifacts. Most being paintings. Granted this was 300 years before but-”
“It feels off with everything else…”
Strawberry Cookie said quickly, before covering her mouth.
“With what else?”
The five young Cookies gave eachother a look, Stawberry Cookie hid her face, it was beet red by now.
“We noticed that in most history books…or at least the one we use…”
“None of you are mentioned…”
Ginger Brave said, Cookie Custard looked at them confused.
“Your lying!”
“No, he is not...White Lily is never mentioned at all in any History books, honestly we didn’t know who you were until you all came back alive, Pure Vanilla and Dark Cacao while in some are written those are mainly designated for the finding of the Soul Jellies and your marriage is completely written out...Golden Cheese and Hollyberry aren’t mentioned again outside of the Soul Jellies and with the final fight of Dark Enchantress.”
“Why?”
Dark Cacao said, making Strawberry Cookie jump almost a foot in the air.
“Well sir, In the most recent years the two empires are extremely disliked, and most of us here are from the Pure Vanilla Kingdom, the Pure Vanilla Kingdom is constantly on the brink of war with Hollyberry and the Dark Cacao Empires. It’s in their interest to completely write out any peace time with the Kingdom, much more a Romance between the Kings. This Kingdom also is home of most scholars and book writers. The Book we use was written by a Vanillian Scholar and is common use for cookies our age, so some hatred for the Hollyberry Empire slips in.”
“and 1,000 years of history was written mostly in this way...So…”
“I was erased…”
White Lily said softly, she looked like her footing was uneasy now and Pure Vanilla held her up so she didn’t collapse.
“Pretty much...Unless you go looking in the Hollyberry Kingdom in the lands of Spice…”
“Damn it all to the Witches…”
Dark Cacao said, his voice gravelly, the leather on his hands ached and squeaked when he gripped the hilt of his blade.
“...But...you all are here! Can’t we bring-”
“I don’t think it’s that easy my child…You state that each of the Kingdoms are under stress.”
Wizard Cookie nodded.
“Yup, I can name 5 different times that the King has called the Cacaoians Uncultured Barbarians that need to be-”
A loud thud and the crumbling of the bookshelves came from Dark Cacao who stormed off.
“can you not insult my husband please…?”
“I’m just stating the facts…”
“You don’t need to use the slurs…”
Ginger Brave said sighing, dropping his head onto the table. Great in the week they met these people they ruined their lives. Pure Vanilla kept White Lily up from falling, though he kept ‘looking’ back constantly. Golden Cheese was on the ground now, sitting down as she took in this information.
“But what I was going to say is that we can bring war among these people, and I don’t think Crispia can handle any more of it from what all you’ve been telling us…”
Pure Vanilla continued, he felt on the table for something before it landed on the book.
“Do you mind If we borrow this? I promise we’ll give it back…”
“Feel free, We all have one…”
Ginger Brave said, rubbing his forehead. Pure Vanilla nodded and took the book, Holding it against his chest with one arm while he ran his hand through White Lily’s hair.
There was a thud causing the group to jump and look, Ginger Brave got up and found his candy cane.
“I’ll go make sure that it’s nothing…”
He walked away without anyone stopping him, making him purse his lips and walk forward. He kept an eye out as he walked, looking around the room as he did so. Using this chance of heading through to check things out to leave everyone to talk. His mind wandered, namely to the events that’s been unfurling, and then the events that led him to meeting the group. He swirled the candy cane in his grip, watching the ground as he walked. It felt odd to hear the others talk about their home kingdoms, not having one himself.
Ginger Brave wasn’t exactly born in Crispia, he was baked by a group of witches. He woke up in the oven one day and managed to escape and run to Crispia, meeting up with another set of Cookies who had escaped and trying to get to Crispia. From there he met Wizard Cookie and Strawberry Cookie, he split off with them to sneak into the kingdom while the others attempted to stay in the Dark Cacao Empire, Hollyberry Empire or in some other part of the land. Ginger Brave was offered a spot with Ginger Bright in the Milk Tribe of the Dark Cacao empire, but he denied it and was snuck into the Pure Vanilla Kingdom. He got himself documents that was allowing him to stay, courtesy of Espresso Cookie, and was able to stay with Wizard Cookie.
Strawberry Cookie was from the Hollyberry Empire, she was born and raised there. Wizard Cookie was born and raised in the Pure Vanilla Kingdom, Cookie Custard was aswell. Chili Pepper Cookie was born in the Golden Cheese sector of the Hollyberry empire. He couldn’t connect exactly when they talked about how crushing the kingdom or empire was doing. In a way it hurt and made him feel jealous. But it wasn’t anything major or extreme so he never said anything about it.
He looked up seeing a stack of books that had toppled over. The dust was still swirling around when he saw it. Frowning he walked over carefully and looked over the area to make sure it wasn’t just Chili Pepper Cookie getting sloppy. Usually she would’ve jumped out by now and scared him half to death or he would still have seen her stumbling over her feet as she walked if she bumped into the stack of books. Besides before she’s gone through the main door, so why would she sneak in? He looked over the books and frowned.
These were newer books, not 2 or 3 years old granted, but they were newer than every other book around the library.
He opened one and looked it over for the date, before doing the same to double check the fact that he was right about them being younger. He looked around confused still, unsure on what exactly he should do about these books. It wasn’t exactly forbidden that they were here, they must’ve been abandoned if he could assume, but it still was weird and odd. This place had been abandoned for centuries, and literally every literary piece that Wizard Cookie told him about had stated that it was considered lost, gone...never to be found again...If these were here…
He gathered three of the books and turned running back.
_____________________________________
“You said you found these back there?”
Pure vanilla said softly, running his hand over one of the books that Ginger Brave had found. Feeling the cloth and indents of the golden lettering. White Lily was reading one and Golden Cheese was looking over the atlas that Ginger Brave had grabbed.
“Yeah...They were just tipped over when I walked back there, they just were…”
Golden Cheese was squinting at the atlas book, twisting and turning it, tilting her head to get a better look at it. White Lily looked to be reading the title page of the first one squinting at it confused. Pure Vanilla had handed the book off too Dark Cacao to look at being blind and all. Dark Cacao read the front page and then thinned out his lips, closing it.
“These are from a Cacaoian warrior…one from our times…”
Wizard Cookie gingerly took the book from the two men and looked at the writing, before humming.
“That should be impossible? These books are no older than 30 years judging by the dates. But the language in the writing is in Early Cacaoian…”
A thud echoed out again and everyone shot a look back, tensed up as their speaking ended. Dark Cacao and Holly Berry pulled out their sword and shield respectfully. Ginger Brave held up his Candy Cane, A light glow came from Pure Vanilla’s hands and White Lily’s staff glowed too. Golden Cheese flew up, holding the closed book in her left hand. Strawberry Cookie pulled out her lollipop, holding it like a bat while Wizard Cookie’s staff glowed a soft indigo.
Ginger Brave stood in front of Cookie Custard, protecting him from the view of what ever is coming. His shoulders tense. The entire group stood still for a few seconds before a loud explosion rang out from behind them. Ginger Brave felt his stomach lurch and his heart drop already knowing what happened behind him.
The first one to cry out was Cookie Custard who screamed in shock seeing the orange and red. Wizard Cookie and Strawberry Cookie followed. Almost immediately Ginger Brave picked Cookie Custard up to avoid him booking it and looked out the window, seeing the yellows and oranges decorate the background. It was far out, at the end of the forest.
A second Explosion rang out and the group was blown back, this one was closer.
Ginger Brave protected Cookie Custard as he hit the book shelf groaning out. He opened his eyes carefully and felt that same feeling he did when he first saw those red eyes staring back at him through the darkness.
Though now he had a face to them…
The Cacaoian prince jumped through the window, his cape surrounding him as he did so. Dark Cacao shot to the front his sword out and ready to fight the exiled prince. The boy’s hair, white and black shrouded his face as he looked at the group, his eyes showing anger and hatred. Ginger Brave was standing by Pure Vanilla, who tensed up. Then Ginger Brave remembered who exactly was the other parent of Dark Choco Cookie, however he questioned how Pure Vanilla had known who was in front of them.
Suddenly Dark Choco wasn’t the only Cookie of darkness who was here…
Licorice jumped out and shot forward, hands out, a deep purple glow surrounding his hands. There was a loud explosion and the only way out that wasn’t through Licorice or Dark Choco collapsed in on itself. Strawberry Cookie was yanked away from the rubble, landing against the bookself by Ginger Brave and Wizard Cookie. Holly Berry hissing out.
“Try and stay out of the adults way kids. Once you have a chance, make a break for it.”
She held up her shield, blocking Dark Choco Cookie as he shot forward for his father. She flung him off and into the wall with a loud ‘thud’, a bright green blast hitting him from White Lily. A blue blast came from Pure Vanilla, hitting Licorice square in the chest, he flung back and hit Dark Choco and the two fell to the ground.
That didn’t stop them, Dark Choco kicking Licorice Cookie off of him and his sword glowed a bright red, he shot forward and struck his father’s sword, blasting the other back and into a book case, toppling it over. Books flew and so did dust. A deep ball of purple flew from Wizard Cookie’s palms and struck Dark Choco, knocking him back and away. Suddenly a blast of golden rays shot from them and Pure Vanilla was panting, looking at them.
“GO!”
His voice shook the room, a Pink force field shot up just as Dark Choco ran towards them, he struck it and Strawberry cookie winced as she held her stance. The group took this as their chance to leave and turned and booked it to the door, before being blasted back as it was busted off it’s hinges in a feat of red. Ginger Brave shielded Cookie Custard as the two were flung back into the wall, he heard something crack and a pain shot up from his back. Strawberry Cookie was flung and hit a pile of rubble, the dust and rocks breaking as her body hit it. Wizard Cookie rammed into White Lily who was lining up another blast with the teen, knocking her off balance and off focus.
The Blast still flew from her hands, though it hit a different cookie instead. It hit Pure Vanilla in the head, knocking him out and opening a large gash in his head, jam starting to make it’s way down his neck and back.. Dark Cacao cried out and ran to the downed man, before being hit by his sons sword, the large gash coming across his side and hip. He hissed out and shot around his blade making contact with Dark Choco’s. Hollyberry let out a war cry and charged to the two, her shield held out used as a battering ram against the two cookies. Dark Choco, who looked to be out of breath was caught of guard and rammed into the wall, he cried out kicking against the shield. Dark Cacao turned back to his Husband, running for Pure Vanilla’s ragdoll body.
“White LILY!”
White Lily lined up a shot and Hollyberry shot back as she let it off, the blast knocking Dark Choco throught the wall and letting out an opening. The building shook and it sounded like it was getting close to collapsing in on it’s self. The room shook and Ginger Brave only looked up in horror. Golden Cheese grabbed pieces of rubble and threw them at Licorice Cookie who let out another growl and shot to Dark Cacao, who was still focused on getting his Husband to wake up.
“We need to-”
The roof let out a sickening crack, Strawberry Cookie pulled the cords on her hoodie, hiding in fear. Golden Cheese took to spreading her wings out and covering her. White Lily shot to Dark Cacao and Wizard Cookie and held out her arms, a green dome appearing. Hollyberry rushed too Cookie Custard and Ginger Brave, holding up her shield and blocking the view of Ginger Brave and Cookie Custard.
Ginger Brave curled more in on himself as the walls came down.

Chapter Text
Ginger Brave heard Hollyberry groan as she stood up, the rocks and rubble scrapping against the shield as they fell.
Ginger Brave opened his eyes and uncurled, wincing when his foot hit against the rubble in front of it. Rocks and rubble fell around the group, the rocks hitting each other with a ‘thud’ and crack. Hollyberry looked him over quickly, making sure he wasn’t too bad off. Cookie Custard was still clinging to him, shaking and breathing heavily. He looked relatively unharmed. Ginger Brave winced when he looked to his ankle that shifted barely. It was swollen and broken.
Her dress was ruined, ripped up to shreds from the fight and the collapse of the ruins. Grey and red decorated the pink from the dust and rubble... and.... She shot a look back when there was running coming towards the group.
Chili Pepper Cookie looked angered by the group not appearing, but her face fell as she looked over the ruins.
She looked like she’s seen better days, her clothes burned and ripped, she only had one of her daggers that she carried but it was chipped and nearly broken in half. Bandages wrapped around her upper arm was died black and red. With a twinge of Grey. Her hair, usually pulled back into a pony tail was freely flowing, parts charred off and tangled. Behind her followed Madeline Cookie and Espresso Cookie, both looked like they’ve seen better days.
Madeline’s pristine armor was dented and ruined, Espresso’s clothes usually free off any tear or wrinkle was ripped and burned. His glasses also were missing. He flew forward and landed a few feet from the entrance. Madeline held up he sword ready to attack these intruders not knowing who they were, before stopping seeing the kids.
Chili Pepper stumbled through the ruins, nearly eating the ground a few times.
“what-”
“Dark Choco Cookie...and Licorice Cookie they attacked last night…”
White Lily said setting up a bit more fuller, a green light illuminated her face as she looked at the ground. She was shaking and panting.
She had an unreadable expression on her face.
“Who in the witches name-”
“A long story! We need medical attention!”
Wizard Cookie cried out from his section of the rubble, and Ginger brave felt his relief from the other’s crying out, but his face fell seeing where Dark Cacao and Pure Vanilla laid. They still were out cold. Blood flowed freely from Pure Vanilla’s head and clumped up the dirt and rock that covered his hair. Dark Cacao’s armor on his chest was dented in and ruined. Blood decorated the side of his face too but not as bad as Pure Vanilla. Madeline and Espresso rushed over to them. Looking out into the distance they saw two others that they couldn’t make out from it.

They all were brought back into town, or…
What was left of it…
Chili Pepper Cookie had explained that at some point in the night, a group of cookies had attacked. The group had consited of the cookies of darkness, and a horde of cake beasts and monsters under Dark Enchantress’ control. Her and Rye cookie were woken up by a soldier running in to let them know of the situation. The two only having just enough time to get find their weapons before their room was blasted to bits. Rye Cookie was nearly crushed by the walls and Chili Pepper had been walking around with a concussion since. Their place wasn’t the only place that was hit and so they didn’t know who all has perished from the initial attacks, but they could name just over a dozen. Though more have been hurt.
They wanted Ginger Brave and his friends to name some of the bodies. At first he was aghast and horrifed, Wizard Cookie even speaking up.
“What makes you think-?!”
“Because you all have lived in this area for half-a decade!”
Chili Pepper chidded.
Ginger Brave was being led along by Wizard Cookie, leaning on the other cookie as they walked. His Ankle was broken as decided by Wizard Cookie. Along with him being hurt Dark Cacao Cookie and Pure Vanilla cookie have yet to wake up, though thankfully they were still alive and breathing. Espresso Cookie had managed too conjure up at cart and they tied to Madeline’s horse and pull the two ancients on it. Along with Golden Cheese who, unlike Hollyberry and White Lily, had used her body to block most of the rubble landing on her and Strawberry Cookie, she could honestly barely walk and her wings looked broken too. She though was conscious enough that she could add to the conversation.
Just barley.
White Lily walked right beside the cart, keeping an eye on the three, while Hollyberry walked up front, talking to Rye cookie.
“How many are dead…?”
Cookie Custard asked softly, walking with Ginger Brave, Chili Peppers eyes softened and she let out a response in a low voice.
“300...what we’ve gathered...twice as much hurt or wounded…”
She dropped back a bit, and whispered between, just loud enough that Ginger Brave and Wizard Cookie could only hear.
“Keep the kid back...his folks were some of the ones we could name…”
Ginger Brave felt his heart sink for the young Cookie beside him, who didn’t hear what Chili Pepper had said.
“You all have a fair bit of explaining…”
Was all Chili Pepper added before rushing to the front to walk beside her Girlfriend.
Ginger Brave spared an extra look to Cookie Custard before looking forward and feeling the wind get knocked out of him again.
The Town was completely destroyed and burnt down. It looked like a giant came through and ripped through the town and left no survivors. Cookies were digging through Rubble, pulling out cookies who were barely breathing or dead. A field that was off to the left, a beautiful Meadow that Ginger Brave has seen young cookies running around playing was turned into an overfilled infirmary and morgue. Bodies covered in sheets covered in strawberry jelly and dust beside the group.
Ginger Brave shared a look with his group as White Lily stopped, covering her mouth. Hollyberry also stopped and had a horrified look on her face. A loud crash made Ginger Brave wince and tense up, the rest of the school had fallen. Cookies screamed in shock and horror. Rye Cookie and Espresso Cookie rushed forward, so did Hollyberry forming her shield. Cookie Custard started too but a light purple tie around his waist stopped him, pulling him back.
“Stop I need to-My subjects!”
He clawed at the magic bind, tears forming in his eyes. Strawberry Cookie picked him up and held him as he fought her, his sobs echoing out before he finally collapsed in her arms.
“I know, but the last thing we need is you running off and getting hurt…”
Ginger Brave said softly, looking back as another chunk of the institute collapsed in on itself, some of the screams silencing from it.
___________________________
The questions about the ancients have been put on hold as the recovery process was underway. Ginger Brave was healed and given a splint, his ankle being wrapped up. Dark Cacao Cookie and Pure Vanilla cookie was in the field, still out cold. Golden Cheese Cookie tried to help, but she still was to injured to fly and too weak to pick up and push on large boulders. Along with that, White Lily Cookie could only spare so much of her magic to heal her and their other friends, so she was to help in the recovery. Cookie Custard was also made to stay in the infirmary, staying near some older cookies to avoid him finding anymore of his family that was trapped in the rubble. The remaining was set to look into uncovering those from the rubble, and to see if they were alive or not.
Hollyberry Cookie, White Lily Cookie, Rye Cookie, and Madeline Cookie focused on the western side of the town, Ginger Brave, Strawberry Cookie, Wizard Cookie, and Chili Pepper Cookie was to help in the center, where the school was. Espresso Cookie was to help groups in the east.
Along with that the group had to keep an eye out for anymore of Dark Enchnatress’s minions attacking, The Guard was stationed all around the town and along the border of the woods. With that no one was allowed out of the town, nor was anyone allowed in. Ginger Brave’s and his friends, and The ancients were the only exceptions to this as Madeline Cookie was with them the entire way back.
Ginger Brave pushed away pieces of the rubble, he dug through what he could to get to the floor before turning to another section.
The Castle still was crumbling down in on itself, walls and floors falling with even a breath of air. Causing the group to watch where they step, or push a piece of rock.
“Found another!”
Wizard Cookie called out, and Ginger brave stumbled forward to look at the face, frowning.
“It’s Walnut cookie…”
He pressed two fingers to her neck, feeling a faint pulse.
“She’s alive.”
He pushed more of the rock off of her and watched as she took a breath, gently he picked her up and handed her off too Espresso Cookie who looked her over as he walked off to the make-shift infirmary.
“She’s back...”
Wizard Cookie said after a small bit of silence, looking up to the last standing wall. The Stain glass was shattered, the soft pick and gold dimmed. Looking off in the direction Espresso left. He had a dark expression on his face, when they made it back most of the Cookies had taken off their unneeded clothing and accessories, Wizard Cookie had taken off his scarf and hat. The dust still hung enough that the sun couldn’t cut through. His hair was blowing in the wind, the white strands flowing like a river of milk.
“Don’t start thinking like that…”
Ginger Brave said softly, stepping over rubble, watching where he stepped.
“She has to be, a handful of cookies can’t have caused this much…”
Wizard Cookie looked around and Ginger Brave’s mouth thinned out.
“I doubt it.”
Ginger Brave reached and grabbed Wizard Cookie’s hand, smiling softly at him. He was trying to calm his nerves as much as he was trying to calm his own racing thoughts. Looking up to the walls, he saw shimmering red magic lining where magic users had blasted the walls to bits, trying to cause as much mayhem and destruction as they could. He thin his lips and looked back to the rubble.
“Lets get back to looking…”
______________________________
Ginger Brave walked into the make shift infirmary, seeing Golden Cheese holding her broken up wing up while healers tried to bandage it. Herb Cookie and Sparkling Cookie looking like they’ve seen better days. White Lily had asked him to run and grab the ancients who were still conscious. Looking around the infirmary, he saw Dark Cacao up and looking over Pure Vanilla like a hawk. He went to Golden Cheese first, she wouldn’t need a full explanation of where they were or what happened.
She was wincing as the medics worked on her wings, binding and wrapping them up as carefully as they could. Though it was clear they had no clue on where to start, or how to wrap them. Golden Cheese was instructing them, but it was like they weren’t listening to Golden Cheese at all. Ginger Brave thinned out his lips, walking forward. They seemed to have not noticed him walking forward, still focused on the Cookie that was still arguing with them on what to do with her wings.
Ginger Brave walked a little closer and waited for her to notice him standing there, holding his hands behind his back waiting for them, hoping he wouldn’t be waiting for much longer…
He stood there waiting for 5 minutes…
After a short time he fake coughed and cause the two cookies to just about jump out of their skin, Golden Cheese shot around to see the ‘threat’ before seeming to let out a breath automatically. She pushed the poor cookie to the side and got up, hands on hips smirking like she ruled the world.
“Ah, Ginger Brave! I was wondering where you all had ran off too.”
Ginger Brave nodded and thinned out his lips.
“White Lily had requested you all at the school...She said it was urgent…”
Almost Immediately the woman shot a look in the direction of where the school remains were. Possibly to see if she could see White Lily there or not.
“She...Ah! Very Well. I guess I shall see you there…”
Without letting Ginger Brave speak she started to speed walk there, and quickly. Her wings attempting to flap and help her lift off the ground as she practically ran to her beloved. Ginger Brave looked back to the ‘Infirmary and saw where Dark Cacao was standing. Walking through the makeshift beds and cots, some taken from the actual hospital or house that weren’t blown to bits. Though some didn’t get lucky and was forced to sit on the ground while they waited for healers to run and help them.
“Dark Cacao?”
He said softly, stopping where he was when it looked like the king bristled at the name. Dark Cacao Cookie shot a look back and let out a small sigh of releaf. He turned back to his Husband, looking expressionless again. He was silent, and something told Gingerbrave that he was used to this. He looked down at Pure Vanilla, the male looked so calm. Like nothing was wrong in the world even though death and destrcution surrounded them entirely.
“Is he okay?”
“He’ll be fine…Just sleeping…”
“Oh, Well...White Lily needs you all at the School.”
Dark Cacao didn’t say anything, just sat there. If felt like Gingerbrave was intruding on them. He walked around the large male and his face paled seeing the ammount of blood on the bandage around his head. His cream colored hair was stained red and grey, making him gag slightly. Was Pure Vanilla even alive?
“I can-”
“He’s Fine!”
Dark Cacao chidded and Gingerbrave flinched away, before his his body hardened.
“Hey, I know the last few days haven’t been great, but he needs some medical attention! Believe it or not our medical technology better than the 100s or when ever the fuck you guys were alive.”
Dark Cacao looked at him shocked, like he wasn’t expecting the other’s outburst. He got up and walked forward hissing out.
“How dare-”
“I don’t care what your rank is, Your husband is bleeding out and if he continues to do so, he’ll die. For real this time. No group of 14 years old to fucking fix it.”
Dark Cacao hissed out and turned around.
“Fine.”
Gingerbrave turned and ran for it, rushing to find a medic or someone. He bumped into someone smaller. Looking down he frowned, it was Cookie Custard the Third. He had dark tear streaks on his face and he was sitting at the foot of one of the make-shift beds. His eyes softened and he smiled softly. Cookie Custard sadly was the best he had right now.
“Hey buddy…”
Cookie Custard looked up and frowned, confused.
“What?”
“Do you know any medical spells?”
Cookie Custard nodded looking up and started to pull himself up. Ginger Brave looked at the bed and bit the inside of his mouth, seeing where it was Cookie Custards sister. Her eyes were unseeing, open but unseeing. She wasn’t breathing and a gaping wound was in the middle of her chest. He swallowed and picked him up. He walked to Pure Vanilla and the boy widened his eyes.
“I’m not letting-”
“He’s the best we have right now…”
Dark Cacao seemed to quiet down at that and n looked back to Pure Vanilla, holding his hand.
Gently Cookie Custard pressed a hand to the bloodied spot on Pure Vanilla’s head, closing his eyes as he let his magic flowed through him. A soft golden color. The Bloodied gauze started to loose blood, and Pure Vanilla’s breathing became less shallow. Pure Vanilla blinked away the pain and looked around confused. Dark Cacao pulled him close and muttered something that Ginger Brave couldn’t understand. Cookie Custard pressed his face in Ginger Brave’s chest and he was reminded how young the boy was.
He turned around and started to walk towards where he found Cookie Custard before he heard someone call out to him. Turning around humming.
“What?”
“You said were needed, where exactly are we?”
________________________________
Ginger Brave led them to the school, still holding Cookie Custard against his chest as he did so. The boy didn’t want to go back and he didn’t’ complain. He was always told that those who were more gifted in medical magic was more sensitive towards the living and dead. Being able to slightly sense when someone was dead. Biting the inside of his cheek he managed to make it to the school. Seeing where Everyone else was sitting at the steps or hanging around it. Wizard Cookie looked up and saw them, running over to Gingerbrave and Cookie Custard.
“Glad to see you two-Uhm, so…”
Espresso Cookie suddenly appeared with Latte and Almond cookie.
“You 5 care to finally explain what is going on here?”
