Work Text:
Himuro Tatsuya and Murasakibara Atsushi were officially together now. None of their teammates were surprised when they broke the news to them.
“What do you mean you guys are officially dating now? You mean all those late night trips to the convenience store weren’t dates?” That was Fukui.
“I always thought you were more like a mother to him, Himuro. But congratulations I guess?” Their gorilla captain.
“Finally. After all those times I kept telling you to just get together already, aru” Liu while rolling his eyes.
It seems like they were the last ones to realize they were attracted to each other, in a romantic way. Their love life was what Fukui would describe as tooth-achingly sweet. Himuro continued to scold him when he refused to eat the vegetables and Murasakibara continued to eat his snacks while sometimes being caring and shared with Himuro.
One of the things that Himuro loves about Murasakibara was that he could sometimes surprise him by saying some of the sweetest and cheesiest stuffs with a straight face and it never failed to make Himuro flustered.
Himuro remembered the first time it happened. They were sitting in a café. Himuro ordered coffee while Murasakibara ordered almost all the pastries on the menu. He ate everything and stopped when he was about to eat the cheesecake.
“Hey, Muro-chin. If you were a cake, I’m sure you’d be a cheesecake”
“And why is that?”
“Because it’s my favorite”
Himuro could feel the heat rushing to his face and was pretty sure he looked like a tomato. Meanwhile Murasakibara continued eating the cheesecake, this time with a small smile on his face.
And that was pretty much how their relationship is like. That is, until Himuro had to graduate. It wouldn’t have been a problem if he could just entered a college in Japan, but as fate would have it, he had to go back to America. His mother was not very healthy and he wanted to be there for her. He also found a college which offered the course he wanted to take and applied there.
Murasakibara was devastated when he knew that his Muro-chin was going back to America. He always thought that they would be together, even after Himuro graduated but only realized that it was a childish thought.
When the time came for him to say goodbye at the airport, he didn’t know what to do. He pulled Himuro into an embrace and held him close. He didn’t intend on letting his Muro-chin go.
“Atsushi, you have to let me go now. The gate is about to open” Himuro sighed a little.
“No!” he held Himuro tighter.
“Atsushi, if you don’t let me go I can’t give you your present”
“I don’t want any present” he replied stubbornly.
“But I worked hard to buy it for you, please Atsushi” his voice got quiet in the end.
Knowing that he can’t hold on to Himuro forever, Murasakibara reluctantly let him go. Himuro gave him a smile that was reserved only for him. He gestured for Murasakibara to bend his head down a little and Murasakibara complied. Himuro then slipped a necklace on him. After he was done he took a step back and Murasakibara straightened up.
He looked at the necklace Himuro gave him. It was a simple black necklace with a gothic letter ‘H’ on it. Himuro pulled out a necklace that was hidden underneath his shirt. It was the same necklace but instead of the letter ‘H’ it had a brightly colored ‘M’.
“This way, we won’t forget each other. Even though we’re miles apart, I hope that whenever you look at it you’ll remember how deeply in love I am with you”
Himuro was smiling, but Murasakibara could see tears in the corner of his eyes and how hard he was trying to hold it in. Wordlessly, he hugged Himuro again and soothingly rubbed his back.
“It’s okay to cry Muro-chin, you don’t have to be strong for me. I promise I’ll behave myself even when you’re away”
Himuro buried his face in Murasakibara’s shirt and silently let his tears fall. After he calmed down he gave Murasakibara a kiss on the cheeks and went into the gate. He didn’t look back-no, he couldn’t, because he was afraid he couldn’t hold back the tears again.
It’s been a month already but for Himuro it felt like years. It wasn’t so bad being in America as he got to see his mother, and he and Murasakibara always contacted each other through the phone. But it still wasn’t the same as being in Japan and walking with Murasakibara to the convenience store holding hands.
And one of the things he dearly missed, besides Murasakibara’s presence overall, was his hot chocolate. Back then, whenever they had to stay up to study, Murasakibara would make a cup of hot chocolate for both of them and it was the best hot chocolate he had ever tasted. It would always make him feel happy and contented.
He remembered the first time Murasakibara made him a hot chocolate. It was after their loss to Seirin, and he lost to his brother, Taiga. He was feeling very upset, not only because they lost, but because he won’t be Taiga’s brother anymore. Murasakibara didn’t ask anything about it, because he knew it was complicated. So he made some hot chocolate, to cheer him up a bit.
And that was probably the first time Himuro started to fall in love with him.
Himuro tried making it himself, but it never tasted the same. He tried adding all kinds of milk, full cream, low fat, but it still wasn’t the same. He tried different kinds of chocolate mix too, as he didn’t know what Murasakibara had used before. In the end, he texted him because he couldn’t stand it anymore.
To : Atsushi <3
Hey Atsushi, do you remember that time when you made me a hot chocolate to cheer me up? I just wanted to tell you it was the best hot chocolate I ever had and I’m dying right now cos all the hot chocolates I’ve made so far are a far cry from yours. Can you tell me what’s the special ingredients you used~?
P.S. I’m still in love with you every day
Himuro did not expect to get a reply so fast since it was almost midnight in Japan. But he received one after a few minutes.
From : Atsushi <3
Of course I remembered, Muro-chin looked so sad. Here’s the ingredients for the hot choco :
- Hot water
- Cadbury chocolate drink mix
- Dutch lady fresh milk
- My love for Muro-chin
I’m not sure you could get the fourth ingredient in America though. But I do have an endless supply of it.
P.S. Not a day goes by that I’m not in love with you
Himuro grinned like an idiot and blushed after reading the text. Of course only Murasakibara could make him turn into a puddle of goo, even only through texting. The very next day, Himuro bought all the ingredients needed (besides no.4 of course, it wasn’t on sale) and made himself a cup. He tasted it and smiled to himself.
To : Atsushi <3
I made a hot chocolate with all the ingredients you listed before, but like you said, I couldn’t find the fourth ingredient. I substituted it with ‘My heart longing for Atsushi’.
It tasted bittersweet.
