Dick Grayson is a guy who has gone through 25 years of this world, Encountering all kinds of things in this world, the number of times he wonders why he is alive is even more than the number of times he sleeps 7 hours or more. People have also called him by many names such as "The Last of the Flying Grayson", "The Golden Child",... But the most special is the name "Robin".
"Robin" is the name of a bird kind, birds that can fly high and far away when it can show its sweet voice to the whole world all day. His mother called him by that nickname in the early years of his life at the Haley circus. And many years later he is still the boy from the circus but now he also is the one who carried that name with him and became the precious guardian hero of our beloved cursed city that was named "Gotham".
Dick has experienced all kinds of Madness during the time he has been wearing this suit! Seriously, one of his enemies is really A joke with the only ability is being mad, seriosuly how is That even considered as An Ability? But , somehow that malicious joke is one of the most dangerous enemies. He never likes clown even in the time he was with the circus anyway.
Dick has managed to surviving on this Hell of world for a while! So how hard this can be?
2 Weeks Before
"Master Dick, you might want to take a look at this" Alfred said and approached.
"What?" Dick asked
He turned around and looked at the old butler position. He noticed that on that wrinkled hand was a carefully packaged letter and then he received the letter from Alfred's hand.
Dick doesn't know why someone specifically writes handwritten letters. Anyway, email is much more popular now. Maybe the sender is a classic old man? Then he opened the letter and read it.
[Dear Richard John Grayson-Wayne
My precious nephew.
To begin the letter, I would like to send you the most sincere wishes. Well, I know you have been very busy with things around you since my brother-in-law, Thomas Wayne passed away and before that, my sister, Martha Kane, also left the world a few years ago. Taking over a large corporation like Wayne in such a sudden way is not an easy thing. But if you still take the time to open my letter, I appreciate it.

Dick stood still after reading the content of the letter. What the hell? He has never really close to Bruce Kane-Wayne, Jacob or Kate Kane (along with their deceased family members). Of course They have met several times at some Gala parties or charity events that he was required to attend, for sure. But.. Oh my god. The last time he saw Bruce was at Thomas' funeral…
Now that he remember, Bruce was a black-haired boy with the eyes shape just his father , Thomas. The boy was rather small compared boys of the same age. Dick remembered The boy looked speechless that day, he barely cried at Thomas' funeral. Who Can blame him? Bruce has never spent much time with Thomas. Dick still feels guilty for that even though Thomas has said many times that it wasnt his fault at all.
After Martha passed away, Bruce immediately moved in with his relatives at Kane's house like living in Wayne's mansion was not even an option appears in the boy's mind. It's been 2-3 years since then, but Dick still feels a little sad because he is just more than a stranger to the boy(But what can he even ask for?).
Dick knows that the Kane family is not a bad person or is deeply involved in dangerous people. But they are a military family and military is glued to politic , And politics is a real mess.(Just look at Amanda Waller Or Lex Luthor for explain),So maybe many people who want to assassinate the Kane family are not so surprised? Only if Jacob knew he just sent his nephew to a even more dangerous place than that. But in the end , how could Jacob know that Dick was also actually a big mess?
If he refuses now, he probably won't surprise anyone. After All, He tried to avoid appearing a lot in the newspaper, television and built an image of an old, tired uncle 24/7. The black car arrived at the door of Wayne's mansion. Bruce's belongings have all been delivered the day before , but he just arrived today.
From the car, a boy with black hair and green eyes with familiar facial expressions came out. He dressed in the Light Academy style often seen by children raised in Old Money families. Dick can tell he is A well-educated kid just from the look and impression.
." Nice to see you again, Bruce. Long time no see, right? ", he started the conversation first, hoping that he made the right choices of word.
"Yes, it's a pleasure to see you again , Richard." Bruce answered with a formal politeness . Dick knew that he has built the Richard Grayson-Wayne image as a somewhat discreet person and also a person who is sometimes feared by people.
But hearing a person who should have been his family call him “Richard” made him feel a little...off? Anyway, does Bruce have any nicknames? Martha and he still kept in touch after Thomas divorced Martha (and before they both died), so he still heard some updates about Bruce.According to Dick's memory, Bruce did not have any nicknames.
"Ah well... You can call me Dick-... all my Close friends call me that"
A moment of silence
Bruce did not appear surprised or deliberately show his evaluation. The boy seems to be watching Dick more. Maybe Martha called Dick by that nickname in front of Bruce.
"Well...anyway, Dick was a popular nickname for the name Richard in the last century." Bruce said.
Dick knows that, plus the fact that English is not his parents’s mother tongue. So after all, this name is not too bad like everyone said ! Finally , someone understands!
Although the fact that Dick is not looked at with a judgmental eye every time he introduces his name makes Dick feel a little lacking.
"Haha, That's right. You are one of the rare people who doesn't look at me ưith the 'Are you kidding' eyes when I say that," Dick said.
"Ah, right, let's go inside , shall we?" Dick continued and then he pointed slightly in the direction of the mansion , turned around to go inside
"Sure" Bruce said, the boy turned to say good bye the driver and then followed Dick into the house.
Okay, this is the problem..
Dick doesn't know what to say to Bruce! Um..maybe Dick should start with questions about current kid trends? Or introduce around the house, anything but this awarkd quietness.
"The garden is so beautiful, isn't it?" Bruce commented while walking while observing the trees and flowers planted for the garden of the mansion.
"Yes, I think so too. It's all thank to Alfred’s efforts every morning" Dick said, after divorcing Martha, Thomas didn't have much interest in flowers and Dick, although he liked to have a small garden in his house, but the night and day life both made him too busy. However, thanks to Alfred who still takes care of the garden carefully, it still looks beautiful.
"Ah Alfred is the Butler of the Family , you will meet him soon" Dick added, Although Alfred is definitely far beyond an ordinary Butler . Both about his position in the family and about his ability as a Butler.
"Alfred? Is he Alfred Pennyworth?" Bruce asked, So it seems that Martha mentioned Alfred to the boy.
"Yes, that's right" Dick Confirmed.
"Mom sometimes tells stories about Father, Alfred and you to me," Bruce continued.
"I'm glad to hear that. I hope she doesn't say anything embarrassing about me through" Dick said with a smile.
Bruce didn't answer. Maybe it's because the boy doesn't want to talk or because Martha did say something really embarrassing about him. Dick wasn’t sure if he wanted to know or not.
"Ah, what do you want to eat tonight? I will tell Alfred to cook you the dishes you like" Dick continued, he really wanted to do something special on Bruce's first day at the mansion. Dick even asked Alfred to let him do something in the kitchen but failed miserably.
"Yes? Well, any dish is fine, I'm not a picky eater." Bruce said.
"Well? That's a good thing. Do you want to order cake or something?" Dick asked more, should he ask to buy Banners too?
"Well...Anyway which room will I use in the time staying here ?" Bruce asked.
"On the 2nd floor, Alfred will give you the key to the room and help you arrange the furniture." Dick replied.
“Does Alfred do all the things-?" Bruce slipped, the boy seemed to regret immediately.
"Ah yes.. Alfred alone is enough. But hey , on my free days, I also help him to clean up"
Then they finally arrived at the mansion after a few minutes of walking, Dick both liked and hated having a big house. Dick turned to look at Bruce, the boy seems to has no special expression. But the way the boy unconsciously held his hand to his shirt during the trip as well as the like briefly shock when Dick turned around, the boy was anxious.
Can't blame Bruce, because Dick was also anxious. He can only hope he won't regret this.
