until I’m yours, again

Summary:

Kawi chases the perfect day on the beach with Pisaeng.

Notes:

Prompt #50: hit the road

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

They drive along the coastline until Pisaeng points out a secluded beach.

Kawi knows all the right buttons to push, goading Pisaeng until he takes the bait, picks Kawi up, and dunks him in the water. They dance around each other in a familiar two-step, loud with laughter.

Away from prying eyes, it’s easy to believe no time has passed.

The setting sun accompanies them as Pisaeng cracks open a beer. When Kawi leaves his own can untouched, Pisaeng just gives him an inscrutable look.

Pisaeng's lips carry a faint note of the sea that night. Underneath, the murkiness of beer lingers, and Kawi chases its bitter aftertaste.

They make a mess of the caravan.

“All this sand is going to be so hard to get rid of,” Pisaeng groans, holding Kawi close in the too-tiny cot, and Kawi promises to help with the cleaning. He’d promise him anything.

It’s been a good day, Kawi thinks, drifting off in Pisaeng’s embrace.

He wakes up alone in his penthouse again. Max is on TV, announcing his hiatus again. Hands trembling, Kawi grabs his keys again. Time to hit the road and see if he can make it a good day again.
