“Guys! Guys guys guys!” Blitzo yelled, jumping up and down with a big grin. “Guess what I found?!”
Barbie and Fizz turned to Blitzo, seeing something clamped in his fist.
“What is it?” Fizz wondered.
“If it’s something gross, I’m shoving it up your nose.” Barbie warned.
“It’s not gross! It’s…this!” He declared proudly, holding up a crisp 20 dollar bill.
“Whoa!” Fizz gasped, looking the bill over.
“It’s real!” Barbie looked at the bill suspiciously before staring at her brother. “You didn’t take this from mom or dad’s wallet, did you?” She questioned suspiciously.
“Nope! I found it on the ground!” Blitzo told her proudly. “Wanna go see a movie?”
“Oh yeah it’s Sunday. Discount movies at the local theater!” Fizz smiled brightly.
“Ya know, I could go for some movie popcorn.” Barbie mused, standing up. “Let’s go see if dad can drop us off.”
The trio ran over to Cash’s trailer, pounding on the door. The older imp opened the door, running a hand over his face. He had stayed up late finishing paperwork and he was absolutely thrashed. He looked down at the kids, tired and a bit annoyed.
“Do ya have to be so damned noisy?” He yawned, rubbing his temples. “I’m fucking tired…”
“Can you drop us off at the movies?” Blitzo asked. “We’re good for it!”
Cash raised an eyebrow before spotting the bill in his son’s hand. “Don’t ya mean I’m good for it?” He corrected, snatching the bill from his son’s hand. “This is mine, pipsqueak. I dropped it outside.”
“Hey! What about finder’s keepers?” Blitzo retorted, pouting when Cash poked his forehead.
“Doesn’t count for me, ding-dong.” He smirked.
“Aww but we really wanna go!” Barbie groaned.
“Could you please drive us?” Fizz begged.
Cash pondered it over, seeing the little pipsqueaks weren’t going to give up so easily. They had been pretty well behaved—for once—so a trip to the movies was a reasonable request. He then had an idea a smile crossed his face. He was going to have some fun with this.
“Mmm…alright how about this? I’ll take you to the movies…” he started.
“Yes!” They cheered.
“IF you can take me to the car by yourselves!” He grinned, snickering at their surprised expressions.
“Well come on! Let’s go!” Barbie stated, grabbing his wrist.
Cash walked down the steps of his trailer before flopping down on the ground. “Well come on. Ya wanna go to the movies, right?” He tried, lifting his head slightly with a smirk. “Take me to the car.”
The kids blinked in bewilderment before an annoying realization hit them. Cash easily agreeing to take them to the movies was too suspicious. Of course he’d make it harder on them for his own entertainment.
“Seriously? We’re really doing this?” Fizz grumbled.
“Hey you wanna go to the movies, right?” Cash reasoned, giving them a grin. “Ya gotta earn it.”
“Fine! But we want popcorn, soda, AND hot dogs!” Barbie told him.
“Hey you drag my butt over to the car and I’ll get ya candy and nachos too!” Cash laughed.
Candy?! Oh now they had to win this weird game! Looking at each other, they would need to work together to get him to the car. Fizz and Barbie went to grab his legs while Blitzo grabbed his arms. The three of them together could be strong enough to pull him along. He couldn’t be that heavy, right?
“Okay…let’s pull him on the count of three.” Blitzo told them. “One…”
“Two…” Barbie and Fizz sounded.
“THREE!”
They began to pull Cash as hard as they could. Their feet were skidding on the dirt but they managed to move him a little bit. But pulling was exhausting for the little ones.
“Okay…he’s too big to pull…” Blitzo panted.
“Yeah that beer gut is heavier than it looks.” Barbie commented, poking her dad’s belly as he stuck his tongue out at her.
“Maybe we can push him?” Fizz suggested, going behind his boss’s back. “All together!”
They shoved Cash as hard as they could, managing to move him onto his stomach and eventually his other side. This was going to make things a bit harder. His horns were pretty heavy and cumbersome so they didn’t know how to move him from this point. As they thought of what to do, Barbie got an idea.
“I know how we can move him!” She grinned, trotting over to the supply tent. She quickly came back with two rolling dollys. They sometimes used those to move heavier circus supplies around the grounds but the kids would use them to play around with. They made great skateboards and spinning rides when they were bored. “Ta-da!”
“Oh that’s great!” Fizz smiled.
“We can move him so much easier with those!” Blitzo agreed, giving his dad a smug look. “Looks like we’re going to the movies after all!”
“W-Well you pipsqueaks still have to actually get me to the car, ya know.” Cash reasoned, looking a bit nervous.
By some miracle, the kids managed to scoot the dollys under Cash’s body and head. They rolled him a bit to get used to the movement before moving him along the ground. As much as Cash’s little request was annoying, the kids were much smarter than he gave them credit for sometimes. And he did have to give the little goobers credit, using dollys like that was clever.
On the other side of the grounds, Dante, who had finished his knife-throwing practice, left the big tent. “Phew! That was a good workout!” He yawned, stretching his arms over his head. “Time to go take a shower—huh?”
The shorter imp blinked in confusion as he saw his boss/friend being rolled along on the ground by the little kiddos. They were directing him towards the truck with determined looks on their faces. Did Cash throw out his back? No that didn’t seem right; the kids would’ve been more panicked if he had gotten hurt. Seeing the look on his face, the boss looked more annoyed than anything.
Curious, Dante decided to see what they were all up to.
“Ha! We got you to the car!” Blitzo cheered. “Now you have to take us to the movies!”
“How’re you gonna get me in the car, dingdong?” Cash smirked, his face smushed against the dolly. “I don’t think you three can lift me in there by yourselves. And your mama’s out shopping.”
Blitzo froze as he looked at an equally worried Barbie and Fizz. He had a point; they did get him to the car but how were they supposed to lift him up? And he did look genuinely tired from being up late working so driving was dangerous. Seemed like their trip to the movies was a bust.
“What’s going on over here?”
The kids and Cash looked up to see a very confused Dante staring down at them. Cash felt his face begin to burn with embarrassment. He didn’t think his impromptu lesson for his kids would get him caught.
“Uh this isn’t—” he began before the kids ran up to Dante.
“I found some money and wanted to take Barbie and Fizz to the movies but dad took it back!” Blitzo started.
“It was mine to start!” Cash reasoned.
“He said he’d take us if we could get him to the car.” Barbie went on. “I didn’t think—”
“But we can’t lift him by ourselves!” Fizz finished. “How are we supposed to get to the movies with him lying there like a sack of potatoes?”
Dante listened to their story carefully before looking at his old friend with a flat look. He knew that Cash wasn’t exactly a conventional parent but this was out there even for him. “Really?” He snarked, crossing his arms with a raised eyebrow.
“W-Well I wanted to teach the little goofballs a lesson in hard work!” Cash retorted, looking away with a pout. “And I really was exhausted as shit…”
Dante looked at his silly boss, pleading kids, and the truck before smiling a bit. “You just had to get him to the car, right?”
“Yeah…” Blitzo sighed.
Dante moved up to Cash before picking him up under his arms. “Well that means I can get him in the car and drive you guys myself.” He stated, much to the trio’s delight and Cash’s shock.
“Yay!” They cheered.
“What?!” Cash gasped.
“You only said for them to get you TO the car. You never said they couldn’t get help getting you into the car.” Dante grinned before turning to the kids. “Fizz go tell Nyx we’re going to be at the movies and to let Tilla know.”
“On it!” Fizz smiled, scampering off to the trailers.
“Barbie? Go get your dad’s truck keys.” Dante told her.
“You got it!” She giggled, trotting away.
“Blitzo? You can open the passenger seat and help me buckle him in.” Dante chuckled, smirking at the pouty expression on Cash’s face.
Soon enough, the gang was at the movie theater with the kids happily eating their snacks. Fizz was sipping on a soda and eating gummy bears. Barbie was scarfing down movie theater nachos and cookie dough bites, leaving the jalapeño slices for Blitzo (since he actually liked the yucky spicy things). Blitzo was happily sprinkling popcorn onto his ketchup slathered hot dog, blissfully unaware of his dad’s annoyed defeated look and Dante’s bemusement. The older imp didn’t really expect to spend his afternoon at the movies but a bet was a bet and he did have to honor losing.
No matter how much of a pain in the butt it was.
"Fuck me..." he grumbled.
“To be fair, boss, ya didn’t really make the bet clear.” Dante remarked, popping a caramel in his mouth.
“Yeah yeah you’re a real lawyer, smart guy.” Cash snarked. “Hey you gotta admit, using those dollys was a smart move.” He reasoned
Cash glanced over at the knucklehead trio, a small smile on his face. As whiny and stubborn as they were, they were crafty and no doubt learned a lesson in hard work paying off more than just carting them off right away. That earned a little bit of a treat.
“Hey dad ya want some of our snacks?” Blitzo offered, he and Barbie holding up their gross movie theater food much to his disgust.
“Ehh…I’m good.”
