Chapter 1: Remote Robot
Chapter Text
Assistant Amy and Miles Prower, art by CASIOVision on X.
I sat at my work bench, tinkering away at the Remote Robot prototype. Assembling it for you according to your blueprints, just as you asked.
Seriously? You just had to design it after yourself?
You’re such a narcissist, Miles.
Sometimes I think you and that Doctor have more in common than I’d like to admit…
There we go. One final bolt and presto, it’s complete.
I jump with such excitement, you’ll be so proud that I managed to complete it on my own.
With a skip and a hop, I carry it into your office. Only to find you fast asleep at your desk.
You’re such a cute boy, Miles.
“Rise and shine, Mr. Prower!”
I patted your sleepy head, nudging you awake.
You blinked, your eyes slowly snapping back into consciousness. Like a computer booting up after some time in hibernation. Silly Miles.
“Huh?”
“I finished the Remote Robot for you, silly!” I held it up for you to see in all its tangerine mechanical glory.
“R-Really? But I hadn’t even designed the control chip yet…” You darted your eyes, perplexed. Why couldn’t you look at me, Miles? Was I not pretty enough for you yet? Stupid fox. I placed it down on your desk, my free hand curled into a fist.
Look nice, Amy.
“Well, that’s simple, Miles!”
Don’t look stupid.
“I took that AI chip you were working on for the Helicar prototype and made a modular slot for it to be inserted in, right here.”
With a shimmy of the metal clasp, I revealed the robot’s interior and the control chip slotted inside.
“Seriously, Rose? That won’t work at all, it’ll have to be programmed to even be able to take advantage of that. It was designed for auto pilot, not navigational reconnaissance and combat support.”
“I might’ve made some programming adjustments.” I looked innocent, darting my eyes to my left with a girlish smirk. Notice me, Miles.
“That better not be sloppy spaghetti code.”
I’ll have to cover my tracks and shortcuts later.
I pulled out the remote from my purse, tossing it to you. You grabbed it without a problem, eyes cold and calculating.
So cool.
With the flick of a button, the robot sparked to life and did a flip.
“Why does it do that?”
“It’s to make sure its limbs are working as expected. Diagnostics. If it fails to operate, it’ll be immediately obvious on start up rather than a liability.”
“Nice job, Ames.”
Your praise was all I craved.
“Thanks…” I shyly rubbed behind my shoulder, and watched as you ordered it around. Testing its situational awareness. Ability to navigate throughout the office space by both vocal command and manual override. The audio-visual feedback and analysis. Machine learning assisted by basic programming priorities. A hybrid design of both our contributions. Yours on the dry technical side. Mine with a sight for the finer details and nice-to-haves.
Suddenly, a loud bang interrupted our time together.
“Well, looks like we’ll get to use it way sooner than expected! Rose, go grab your hammer. I wanna find out what that was.”
And another.
Right. Do what Miles wanted. Be useful. Earn your keep, Amy.
After pocketing away the Remote Robot in my purse, I stumbled to the workshop’s main hall, grabbing the Piko Piko hammer off the wall. It was heavy, but all my boxercise was paying off.
You strapped on your shoes, it was time I got myself together.
Standing at the door, you tapped your feet, ready to blow. “Ready, Ames?”
“Yeah!” I said excitedly, my hammer held high. Somehow you managed to make everything seem so exciting. Even the scary stuff. The loud crashes and bangs felt like the rhythm to a song, and you were a chorus.
“Let’s go!” And you were off, like the wind.
I couldn’t afford to be left behind, I had to keep up.
Revving up my feet, running in place before letting go, I ran out the door after you.
I won’t let myself be left behind, Miles.
My eyes alit with horror.
What were these birds doing here.
And piloting those crude scrap metal machines, with cannons that looked so last century.
“Stop and lay down your weapons! This zone’s under the control of the Kukku Empire now!”
… were they serious?
Green goons, clearly without support. A trio of three.
You dispatched of the blowhard bird easily with a spin-dash to knock him off balance and a roll through his feathers.
I swung my hammer, knocking the rest of his cohorts down and about.
“Get lost, creeps. West Side’s mine.”
So territorial.
They cowarded and snived, “B-But if the boss finds out we failed.”
“Leave before I break your wings, bird brains.”
Cruel too.
When necessary. These hooligans had torn through market street. Leaving crying fox kids and busted store fronts in their wake.
Savages.
They flew off like cowards.
“Miles, are you alright?” I ran up to you, a hand on your shoulder and a gentle smile placed on my lips.
“I’m… fine. Thanks, Ames.”
You always were so apprehensive about affection, Milesy. So afraid.
I wish you’d open up more often.
“Kukku Empire, huh? I’ve never heard of that before…” I commented, thinking back to what they said earlier.
“Imperialists from Cocoa Island, looks like they’re on a conquest spree.”
How heartbreaking. War. Terror. Refugees. They wanted to bring all of these to our little paradise, our perfect island.
“What should we do?” I asked, glancing at you for advice.
“We’re gonna take the fight to them, of course.”
You fearlessly clasped your dashing blue vest, a cocky smirk laced on your lips. “Nothing I haven’t dealt with before.”
“But you said Eggman’s machines weren’t designed to kill!”
“Still had far more advanced tech than these stone age scrap brains.” You quipped with the suave of an action hero. Brave. Fearless.
“Woah, back off, Ames.” You pushed me away when I tried to lean in for a kiss.
Stupid Amy. Fantasies are just that, fantasies.
“S-Sorry, just got–”
“Yeah, yeah, carried away. Now let’s get on with it and see where they’re attacking next, shall we?”
You were so goal oriented Miles. To the point. It was as admirable as it was annoying.
In market street’s ruins, we found a dusty newspaper from the broken stand.
The headline caught my eyes.
KUKKU EMPIRE ATTACKS THE ACORN MONARCHY
“Acorn Monarchy? Like from those fairy tales?”
“No, Amy, well, kinda. It’s a real place. Those are just fiction, regardless, Mistfell Island is home to a lot of magic and mythical artefacts.”
Such a know it all.
“So is that another Island in this archipelago chain?”
“Correct. Which means that must be their base of operations for their assault on West Side.”
You’re so brave. From the flick of the tails, I could already tell you were going to try and save them. Such a self-sacrificing hero, I could just pinch your cheeks.
“Amy, what did I say about personal space?”
Oops. I did.
“Sorry, sorry, sorry…”
“Ya really gotta get better at that. Whatever, let’s get a move on and make sure they aren’t tearing a new one through the rest of the island.”
“R-Right!”
And just like that, you were gone, like the wind.
I had to keep up.
Chapter 2: Enter Chemical Plant
Chapter Text
Chemical Plant.
Jointly owned by my favorite and least favorite men.
Robotnik INC and Prower Corp LLC.
It had seen better days, the windows were utterly bashed in and the whole rig had been macgyvered into creating explosives for their armada.
You weren’t happy to see all the damage to you and Eggman’s enterprise. Rage. Passion. You twitched, stomping in anger.
It was terrible. I wish I knew how to make you feel better.
“I swear to Gaia, Amy, when I get my hands on the ones responsible for this barbarism I am going to strangle them with my own bare claws.”
Gloves off. How scandalous.
Not that I minded.
Even when you were mad it was cute in its own way.
And just like that, you were off. Not a word.
I followed along.
The foot soldiers were trickier than the last we encountered. These ones had real weapons.
Bombs.
The same weapons that are being produced in this factory.
You weaved out of the way, dodging bombs and tricking them into blasting each other.
I hammered them before they had a chance. They weren’t focused on me. You were far more eye-catching.
But one of them caught on. They were tricky. They had predicted right where you would be and chucked a bomb at you.
Thankfully, I was there. With a swing of my hammer, it went spiraling back right in his face. Leaving him seared and scarred. Knocked cold on the ground.
Serves him right for trying to harm my Milesy.
As soon as I realized that was the last of them, I held you tightly.
“A-Amy what are you– Oh.”
Looks like you had just realized how close you were to biting the bullet.
“Please be careful.”
I pleaded. You could afford to be reckless with the robobuddies. Those were designed to capture. Never slaughter.
These were warriors. They didn’t care that we were children. They were fascist freaks who’d gladly snuff the life out of us.
For once, you actually held me in return.
“I promise, Amy.”
You released me, but I knew you held that promise close.
You better.
Deeper in the facility, we came across busted pipes and ruined stairways. Looks like whoever was in charge of this operation knew we were here. And they weren’t happy about that. Not one bit.
They were bombing the facility. Scorched earth.
“Miles! It may be dangerous to go on ahead.” I cautioned you. You paused, glancing back to look at me.
“This is exactly why we designed the remote robot, remember?” I advised.
You were quick, no doubt. But reckless too.
Pulling it from my purse, I set it up for you and you grabbed the remote from your vest. I leaned in on your shoulder as we surveyed the area up ahead.
It was just as I feared. They had snipers lined up on the second level.
You would’ve been toast the moment you stepped foot there.
“Good thinking, Ames.” You flashed me a thumbs-up and that cute smile.
So dreamy.
With skill and precision, you ordered the robot’s missiles to blast away.
Its small stature and inconspicuous appearance in a factory already adorned with your iconography made it easy for them to miss.
Warfare with your beloved was a lot less glamorous than romance novels made it seem.
Still, I couldn’t lie. Fighting by your side was a delight.
We sent it through the vents, aiming to find the headquarters.
“Looks like they got comfortable in the Manager’s office.”
Predictable.
You used your tails to scale the stories of the building.
Two could play at that game.
While I didn’t have tails of my own, I did have my trusty hammer.
The one you were kind enough to make me.
Thanks Miles.
With one smack against the ground, I sent myself flying through the air alongside you, ricocheting off each ruined scaffold until we arrived at Chemical Plant’s fifth floor.
“Huff… huff…”
I was breathless.
I’d need to get used to that.
“Ya alright, Ames?”
You stopped for me.
That’s new.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just– needed to catch my breath.”
You held out a hand for me and helped me to my feet.
Such a gentleman.
With the weight of my hammer, I swung right through the office door. With a thud, it crashed to the ground.
The air was tense. He stood there, the man from the papers illustrated in black and white.
In full color, his outfit stood out like a flamingo.
Red boots with black stripes and white cuff, a red military grade jacket with white trim, and a flowing white cape.
Emperor Jet.
He pointed at us.
“Heh heh heh!”
He carried his hand from his heart out to the wind, holding it high to bolster his pompous stature.
What a prick.
“You fools might’ve disrupted our operation, but it’s too late! Ehehe, we have enough bombs to blow the entirety of this stupid island up if you don’t comply with our demands!”
Bastards. I clenched your shoulder, leaning on you for support while fearing the worst.
“What do you mean?”
You asked calmly.
“Our airship armada will reign hell from the heavens, just as I planned with my battle brilliance.”
He raised his palm to his chin, eying into your soul.
“If you don’t give yourself up, that is!”
“I’d never give up to you, let alone surrender the people of my island.”
That’s exactly why I always felt safe with you, Miles.
So determined, even in the face of danger.
While I was shaking in my shoes at your side, you stood confident and tall.
“So be it, fox freak.” Jet tore into your insecurities, pointing at your second. His laugh was like a shrill shriek. What a mockingbird.
“Amy, now!”
You commanded me and I swallowed my fears, rushing for him with my hammer. He walked back, barely dodging my grip yet impressed nonetheless. His eyes revealed how unsettled he was.
You weren’t far behind, you rolled into a ball and let loose, knocking him into the air.
Looks like this prince prick was as green as his men.
“Y-You haven’t seen the last of me, this isn’t over!”
He said while perched near the window, before taking off in flight.
“Ready?”
You asked, and I couldn’t agree more.
You took to the skies and I grabbed your legs. We flew after him, helped by the make-shift propeller that was your twin tails.
“What the–”
His beak ground against itself, eyes furrowing in rage before he let out a terrible squawk.
Diving straight for us, he scuffed your fur, but I made sure to knock him away with my hammer.
Swing, smash, swing, swing, smash.
It was an aerial bloodbath. Hearts beating, ours in unison and his in terror disguised by a cocky confidence.
It was as fake as everything else about him.
“You unnatural freak, the skies belong to the birds. Not a pathetic invalid fox. Get off my territory!”
I ricocheted myself off your legs and recklessly flew into the air.
No one said that about my Milesy.
With a loud thud, he was sent tumbling towards the ground and I would’ve fell to my death.
If not for you swooping down to save me.
I love you, Miles.
“You alright, Amy?” You asked, your hand held in mine.
“Y-Yeah, wait– Miles?”
“Yeah?”
“Look over there!”
I pointed at the fleet of airships descending upon West Side’s skies.
“Looks like bird brain wasn’t kidding.”
“That’s terrible! We’ve got to stop them!”
“No time like the present.”
You threw me into the air and caught me into a proper princess carry, and with that, we were off, soaring to the great Kukku Zeppelin.
Chapter 3: Kukku Zeppelin
Summary:
Miles and Rosy infiltrate the Kukku Zeppelin. Can they figure out how to deal with all the bombs Jet's stacked aboard before they blow up West Side Island? What fate awaits our heroes?
Chapter Text
You made ground with the flying behemoth.
Kukku Zeppelin Zone.
You sat me down on the metal ground, I steadied myself with the help of my hammer.
“No time to waste. Time to thrash this aerial armada.”
And with that, you were off with your two cute tails swirling behind you like an ice cream blend.
With the swing of my hammer, I smashed the ground and sprung myself with a burst of momentum, making track against the ground to keep up with your unstoppable pace.
A squadron of five Bomb chucking Kukku armed to the beaks with bombs came our way. They tried to dynamite us to the ground, making good on Jet’s promise to bring the pain with all the stolen goods taken from the Chemical Plant.
You made sure to weave out of the way in style, short-hopping and flying over the first flurry before knocking the last back at ‘em with your two tails.
Nice thinking. When two of them aimed for me, I stood my ground; swinging my hammer around to blast them back to the stone age.
These big-beaks had more bite than their contemporaries, they wore blast resistant helmets. Smart thinking, a lot smarter than those factory grunts.
I backed up against you, and we yelped in surprise unison as they were cornering us, surrounding us from all angles.
“Miles, I got an idea, but you have to trust me!”
You turned your head, brushing against my quills. “Alright, Amy hit me.”
“I will, but its gotta be literal.”
“Wait, what?” You were so surprised.
I had to act fast, the Kukku soldiers were already reaching for their next bomb.
I grabbed you by your palm, tossing you into the air like a frisbee.
“Woah, my head’s spinning!”
“Get ready, Miles, ball form, now!”
“Got it, Ames!”
With a swing of my hammer, I sent you whirling at each soldier. You bounced right back like a boomerang. With each smack, we knocked the fight out of them, and they crumbled on the ground like scrambled eggs.
Once I was done, I caught you in my arms.
“Sorry for scaring you, Milesy…”
“I… I’m okay. I think.” Your heart was beating so fast, it was so cute seeing you disarmed. Even when you were so scatterbrained from getting swung around like a pinata.
I planted a kiss on your muzzle, earning a shove.
“I don’t want cooties.”
“You’re such a boy, Miles.” I teased, reaching for my hip and propping myself up by my hammer. “Would you rather bombs grace your cheek instead of my kisses?”
“Shut up, Ames.” You glanced away. Speeding off as your defense.
You were always so aloof. I couldn’t lie, it was cool.
I wasn’t going to give up the chase that easily, Milesy.
You flew through the air, bypassing the floating platforms.
I followed along, using my hammer to scale the heights alongside you.
My breath was heavy, and hammer heavier.
“What’s the plan?”
I asked between pants, struggling to keep up the momentum after how much we exhausted ourselves.
“Make this place combust before it can drop its payload.”
Sounded simple.
“Great, and how do you plan on doing that?”
“Simple, we split up. You go explore the lower decks, I’ll have the remote robot scout the second floor, and I’ll check the third floor myself. Just make sure to meet back up here in five minutes.”
“Smart thinking, but how’d you know this zeppelin only has three floors?”
“Calculated while flying over. It was elementary, Dear Rose.”
Such a know-it-all.
“Y’know we’re both supposed to be in middle school, right?”
“Yes, well–”
A jumping Kukku soldier interrupted you, ramming right into you with his beak.
How rude! My poor Miles!
Swing.
“Take that, you creep!”
Suddenly, we were surrounded by a posse.
They were onto us.
Think quick, Amy.
After catching your bearings, you shot me a quick glance.
I knew what I had to do.
Distract them so you could focus on finding the jackpot find with our remote-operated buddy.
So smart, Miles.
“Over here.”
I teased, jumping nearby the railing of the zeppelin, spitting in their faces as they raced for me. I used my hammer to send them flying down through the sky.
Swing. Swing. Swing. Splat. Splat. Splat.
The bird brains really should’ve known better.
They were as self-destructive as lemmings.
No wonder their leader had led them to their deaths.
A part of me pitied them.
Another part of me knew they hurt my Milesy.
Once I had disposed of the creeps, I made sure to attend to you. I helped you keep your balance, keeping an eye out for any threat that came our way.
Thankfully, nobody came.
“Eureka!”
You found it.
So smart, Miles.
You really earned a headpat for that one.
“Alright, Amy, I had our mechanical buddy light a fuse, so we gotta get outta here.”
You grinned, so cute. But more importantly, “How?”
“I’ll fly us.”
“Miles, there’s no way you aren’t exhausted after all of that…”
You shouldn’t push yourself so much, love.
“N-Nonsense… I’ll be, uh, fine– Besides, we’re out of options."
I suppose I couldn’t argue with that.
So be it.
“You better know what you’re doing, Miles.”
“I do.” you lied and carried me off the railing, only to huff and puff before losing your cool entirely, hyperventilating as it exploded behind us, sending us flinging through the sky and away from the familiar view of West Side Island.
Miles, you brilliant idiot.
Chapter Text
We flailed throughout the air, my hands desperately clung to yours.
I couldn’t lose you, Miles. Not now, not ever
If this is the end, then I’m happy to accept it at your side.
Mist eclipsed us, surrounding the sky and it made it so hard for me to see.
But I still made out your face, Miles.
Your screaming, petrified face.
It was the one detail I’d never miss.
Glancing down, I saw a hint of blue beneath us.
Mistfell Island
Our hope.
“Miles, breathe.”
You listened, looking at me with those nervous eyes.
“Straight posture, we’re heading for a body of water.”
“How do you know this will work?”
“I saw it in a movie, c’mon, don’t you trust me?”
You were out of options, and in seconds, we made contact with the water.
Splash.
One problem.
I hadn’t the faintest clue how to swim.
I tried to kick my feet, tried to leap, to escape the lake I landed in.
Nothing worked.
You paddled effortlessly through the water.
You left me.
I couldn’t breathe.
And then, I couldn’t see.
Notes:
To be continued...
Another Side, Another Story awaits.
Chapter 5: Knothole Village Zone
Summary:
Miles Prower stumbles upon a horde of metal monstrosities and helps out the Freedom Fighters.
Chapter Text
Finally, you could breathe again.
That was intense.
Wait.
Where’s Amy?
You glanced around, and all you could see were the expanse of trees. Besides that, nothing.
But how could that be? She was just by your side– Wait, the lake.
Great Forest Zone
You couldn’t lose her too.
You used your tails to propel yourself to the depths below.
There she was.
The delicate rose was wilted, drenched and overwatered.
Poor thing.
You hoisted her over your shoulder, You knew you couldn’t carry her weight above the water, that would be an exercise in futility. Carrying her through the lake’s ground, you looked for a route ahead.
Nature came in luck.
Platforming off the rocks, your tails were just enough to push yourself between a rock and a hard place.
What a relief, Amy’s safe now.
But she won’t wake up. She’s out cold, unconscious. Not breathing.
In a panic, you think back to those first aid instructions Robotnik had given you.
With a heavy breath, you gave all you had away to Amy. Your lips met hers, a kiss.
Cooties were less bitter than death.
You compressed her chest, flicking your tails along to the beat of that song Robotnik loved so much.
Stayin’ alive.
After five tense minutes, she could finally breathe again. What a relief.
Silly hedgehog. She scared you for nothing.
Made you think of her for nothing.
You shook your head, that was the least of your concerns right now.
You always had to live in the moment, the past was there, and the present was now.
You observed your surroundings. Nothing, no one, not even your assistant Rose. No roads, no resources, no supplies. Closest thing to tech you had was a drowned, drenched, and absolutely useless remote.
A lesser man would perish.
You’ll be home by Christmas.
You hoisted her atop your shoulder, and made track through the winding expanse of the forest.
You had to find a way out of this. A way to civilization.
Someone who could save her.
If memory served you correctly, you were on Mistfell Island.
Prisoner of the Kukku. Deep in enemy territory.
Drats. Yet a smart man like you saw an opportunity.
Get in good graces with the princess and she’d be willing to house you, as long as you weren’t dead.
Birds were chirping, signs of life, yet none intelligent so far.
You made note of your surroundings, the rocks, the lake, and kept in a straight line ahead.
It’d lead you out of the forest eventually.
For better or worse.
A buzz filled the air.
But it wasn’t one of the bees. But machines. You’d recognize a noise that was mechanical from any one of your planes.
And yet it resembled them, a mockery of man and machine.
Roboticized. Organic life reforged into a caricature of itself.
A whole squadron of bastardized bees. Their mechanical wings searched in unison. For something, or somewhere.
Ducking for cover behind a tree, you planted the rose gently on the ground.
Soaring into action, you spun into a ball and charged them down.
Bouncing off them and treading on ahead, that’s when you found it.
A home carved out of a tree,
A whole village of them, actually.
Knothole Village Zone
Under siege by those roboticized bees.
They stung the bunny badly, hounding and harassing her with countless mechanically enhanced stings.
The coyote tried to fight them off with his sword swings, but his efforts were futile.
A cold sweat ran down his brow as the tension rose.
“Men, fire!”
The leader commanded, ordering a squadron of her soldiers to open fire on the incoming buzzing bombers.
Most of the bullets bounced off their wings.
Two bees down
You weren’t the fastest thing alive for nothing.
Time to prove your worth.
Orange streak speeds by, Miles Prower.
With a deadly dance, you bounced them all to route.
Sending them crash-landing into wood and dirt, they bit the dust.
All but one.
He was barely breathing when you looked back at him.
Both him and the bunny were badly beat.
“Who are you?”
The same leader from before asked, a shocked squirrel.
“My name’s Miles, Miles Prower.”
You said with confidence, pointing towards yourself with a thumb.
“Don’t worry, I’ll get this corpse party cleaned up.”
In a gust of tail spins, the corpses were washed away, and the two survivors too.
“Nothing to it!”
You boasted, dusting your hands off.
“Well, aren’t you a show-off.”
That squirrel girl teased, walking up to you.
"What deed zey do weez Bunnie?"
That coyote called with concern.
“I took her and the bee back to the infirmary. Speaking of which, mind telling me your names?”
You asked with an open palm.
“My apologies.” She said, her hand over her heart before explaining, “I am Princess Sarah Alicia Acorn, but out here…”
She winked, “You can call me Sally.”
“Mai naime eez Antoine Depardieu.” The coyote clarified. Not that you could comprehend a lick with his accent.
What a blowhard.
“And I’m Rotor Boomer!” The walrus said, soon joined by a chorus of miscellaneous wolves, cats, birds, and bears you couldn’t bother remembering the names of.
“Nice to meet’cha, Sal.” you shook the princess’s hand, not really caring for the rest. She was recognizable even in this humble attire.
“The pleasure’s mine, hero boy.”
She leaned down to kiss your cheek.
Like a drop of sunshine.
A princess’s kiss.
You really earned it.
"I zink I’m goeeng to be seeck." Anton whined.
“Can it, coyote.” You quipped, before explaining your situation and what happened with Amy.
It was going to be a long afternoon.
You and Sally sat by the fireplace of her residence, the mint tea was a nice touch.
A real luxury, especially in a rural town like this.
“So, what’s a royal like you doing out here?”
“Pretty simple, Miles.” A bitter breath left her lips.
“The Kukkus are occupying my palace and the whole of Mobotropolis.”
“Don’t worry, I got an idea on how to deal with them.”
“Really? What’s that, hero boy?”
“Take a guess.”
“You’re gonna charge in head first into danger and get yourself killed?”
She teased you. Skeptical.
“Nah, I ain’t stupid. ‘Sides, I know wars can’t be fought with one man armies.”
“Oh, really? Tell me more, Miles.” She rested into her palm against her arm propped up on the chair’s rest. Her eyelashes fluttered, curious.
“Well, simple. We mobilize the population against the invaders, radicalize them to our cause, and supply them to fight back. Then we can lead an assault to disrupt their supply lines and take down their chain of command on this island.”
“Smart. But what makes you think I haven’t been trying that the past month.”
She rolled her eyes, a palm extended as she leaned back into the chair. Unsatisfied.
She was such a sharp-tongue. More bite than Amy would dare to draw.
“Well, simple. You didn’t have the fastest thing alive on your side.”
“What good will speed do, Miles? You might be fast, fast enough to prove a nuisance. But that’s not enough to win a war.”
You bit your lips.
“That may be true, but… I can help. I can help inspire them all, plus, I got the brains to back up my brawn.”
“Are you sure about that?”
“Of course! Once I get a fresh remote, I’ll find my remote operated robot buddy. With his help and my assistant’s, I’ll be able to supply this resistance with all kinds of new arms.”
“And what would a fox like you know about supplying an army.”
“Hey, I’m practically Robotnik’s prodigy. He’s got all kinds of innovative defense systems set up around South Island. He’s shared his designs with me in the past. If I can replicate even half of his genius, we’ll be lightyears ahead of these coo-coo Kukkus.”
“Promising, Miles.” She licked her lips, impressed by your boasts. ”But we’ll need resources if we want to build tech that next generation. I’ll consult with my assistant, Nicole, and see if I can get my hands on a map of nearby mines and deposits we can secure under our control. You should consult with Rotor about setting up a manufactory and an engineer’s corps, if you’re really serious about this.”
“Will do, Princess!” you passed her a salute. She might’ve been a foreign monarch, but she was one who had earned your respect. Her tactical skills were as sharp as her tongue.
She gave out a playful giggle into her palm, “Oh, Miles. You aren’t one of my subjects.”
Sipping the last of your mint tea, you got up from your seat and to your surprise the princess rose to meet you.
“As long as I’m stuck on this island and the Kukku Flag flies over Mobotropolis, consider me your knight in blue boots.”
That was apparently enough to earn you a brief peck on the lips.
“That’s for luck.” she teased before patting your back and sending you off on your way.
“Y-Yeah, luck…”
You were still a mess with women. They were so hard to predict. And to get attention from her?
She wasn’t like Amy, she wasn’t just some common girl your age.
She was an actual member of royalty. Man, it felt rad to be one cool dude.
Gathering your composure, you went off on your way, prepared to get to work with that walrus Boomer.
