Billions of years ago, some space junk clumped together and formed a small beautiful moon. This moon was named Neith, and she was the only Venusian Moon.
Venus wasn’t sure how this happened, or when this happened. One minute he was sleeping peacefully in his orbit, and then the next, there was a tiny finger poking at his face. He tried to ignore it, assuming it was just meteorites, but eventually he grew annoyed at the feeling and finally opened his eyes, reading to scream at whoever was bothering him. But he froze and remained silent when he saw a tiny young girl staring up at him in awe.
She had long brown hair with highlights that looked like flames, beautiful orange eyes that matched his, tanned like him, and a very long white robe.
He was shocked as he stared back down at the small creature, tilting his head to the side. The young girl copied his same movement and even made the same expression as him. Venus noticed and tilted his head back to normal, prompting her to do the same.
He chuckled which made her start smiling.
Then he cleared his throat, “Um…Hello?”
“Hellooo…?” She echoed
Venus had a small amused smile, “Heh…Well, I guess I have a moon. Maybe Saturn was right after all. Well…I’m Venus, your planet.” He explained
The girl started giggling, “Venus…Venus! Venus, Venus!” She threw her hands up and started twirling around.
Venus didn’t understand what he was feeling. Was it love? No, this wasn’t the same as with…
This was different! This was something brand new. He just couldn’t help but feel lighter as he watched his precious moon. Her giggles and smiles just made him happy, possibly happier since before…
No, not that…
Well, if this was his moon, she needed a name! “Hmm…” He thought about it hard, Sunev??? No no no…Uhhh…Zoozve? Wait, I’ll save that for the next one…Aieht…No. Aeith…Wait, Neith! “Your name is Neith.” He said with a grin.
“Neith…Neeeith….Neith! Neith! Name is Neith! Neith, Neith, Neith!!!” Neith started twirling again, flapping her hands as she did so.
He gently pulled her closer, “Yes, you are my Neith. And I am going to protect you forever…”
She became his top priority for a long while, he hadn’t left his orbit in a long time. Neith was starting to say more words and ask a lot of questions, she was a curious space cat indeed.
“Venus, why are we so w-warm?” She suddenly asked as he brushed her hair so he could tie it back in a bun. Totally not because it reminded him of a certain someone, nope!
“Well, we have the second closest orbit from the Sun. It’s much warmer here.” Venus explained.
Neith turned her head, “Oh, that giant lightbulb that’s always screaming?”
Venus put her head back in its correct placement, “Hey! No moving, you’ll ruin it! Anyway, yes, that screaming lightbulb.” He rolled his eyes as he chuckled, this is why he loves this kid. “But don’t say that in front of him!” He whispered, Neith nodded.
“Okay! …I-if we’re second, then who is first?” She asked right after.
“Curious little one, aren’t you?” Venus muttered to himself. “Well, that would be The Pipsque— I mean Mercury!” He only blushed just a little bit, luckily she didn’t notice. “Alright, there we go!” He said as he finished the bun. “You look wonderful, Neith!”
Neith twirled and flapped her hands, “Wonderful! W-w-wonderful!!!”
Venus smiled at her reaction lovingly, this kid is just amazing.
He then felt two— no, three celestial bodies approaching him. “Venus, where have you been? It’s been soooo long!” Said Pro— Earth. Then Mars spoke up, “Yeah, man. It’s been awfully quiet lately.”
Neith peeked curiously from behind Venus, she looked directly at Earth, “Huh?” She turned back to her planet, “Venus?”, then back at Earth, “Also Venus??? …Woah…A B-Bigger Venus???” She gazed.
Venus looked at her, offended by her words, “What!? I’m not like him!” He scoffed, turning the other way, pouting like a child. Earth on the other hand was laughing, “Ha! He wishes he could be me! Wait, who are you!?” Earth yelped as he jumped back, why was there a small being in Venus’s orbit? She certainly wasn’t there last time he saw Venus!
Mars was amused at Earth’s reaction and crouched down at the little one’s level, “Hello there, I’m Mars! What’s your name, kid?” He amicably smiled.
Neith stood confidently with her hands on her hips, “My name’s Neith! I’m Ve-Venus’ Moon!” She said with pride. Mars smiled again, “Wow, Neith! That’s a pretty name! Did Venus name you?”
Neith nodded her head up and down rapidly, “Uh-huh! Uh-huh! Uh-huh!”
“Woah…Venus, you have a moon?” Earth was now smiling, “And she’s so adorable!!!” He squealed, then he also got to her level, “Hi there! I’m Earth! Nice to meet you, Neith! I can’t wait for my moon to wake up, I’m sure you’re gonna love her!”
Neith tilted her head, “Moon?”
Earth turned around and grabbed hold of his little one to show her to Neith, “This is Luna! She hasn’t woken up yet but I know she will one day, I hope you two can be the best of friends!” He grinned with excitement.
Neith stared in awe at the sleeping girl in front of her. Her hair was dark brown with hints of red but it looked like there were some small silver streaks too. She wasn’t done forming yet so she likely wouldn’t wake up soon. “Luuuna…Luna…Luna! Luna, Luna!” Neith twirled once more. Luna let out a small yawn in her sleep and her hand moved up to her mouth. Earth quickly pulled it right back out and replaced it with a pacifier.
“Awww, she’s so cuuute!!!” Neith cooed
Venus smiled at his moon’s curiosity, but he also felt something else as he looked at Luna. She looked so much…Like her…She looks just like her…
The thought was interrupted by Earth, “Oohhh…I can’t wait for my little Luna to wake up! Aren’t you excited, Venus? Soon Neith will have a little friend to play with around here!” He was practically vibrating. “Yeah…That’s really great.” He attempted to sound happy. Mars luckily changed the subject, “I kinda wish I had moons…” he said sadly, “I wouldn’t mind having some, especially if they’re like Neith!” He smiled only slightly.
It was true, Mars had been curious over the thought of having moons ever since he saw those two in Jupiter’s orbit. Mars had assumed there would be no moons for the Rocky Planets. “Well, who knows, Mars. It could be possible.” Venus shrugged, looking back at Neith who was now rambling to a sleeping Luna, he smiled at the sight of his miracle child. Well…Two miracle children, Luna is literally the definition of a Miracle Child. Who knows, maybe Mars would get a miracle child too one day.
“I sure hope so, Venus…” Mars sighed heavily. “Yeah! It’d be nice to hang out while our moons have little play dates!” Said Earth, he gasped, “They could even make a Rocky Moon Club! That’d be so cool!”
Mars chuckled, “Heh…Oh now you two really got my hopes up! Now I really wish I had a moon…” he pouted.
They all jumped when they suddenly felt a shockwave slap them, “GET BACK TO YOUR ORBITS!!!”
Earth immediately grabbed Luna and ran back to his orbit screaming in fear. Mars was following right behind him. Neith jumped to her Planet’s arms and buried her head in his chest, “Scary! S-s-so scary!!!”
He patted her head and shushed her, “It’s alright, you’ll get used to his screaming. I know, I wish he’d shut up too…” Neith snuggled even closer, “You’re so warm, Venus…I like it! It’s safe! S-safe and w-w-warm!” She lightly giggled, her muffled voice tickling against his chest. “I’m glad, kid. I promise you you’ll always feel safe and warm here with me.”
