Day 27 "let me remind you"
He wanted to celebrate their first month anniversary grandiosely. Well it wasn't maybe the right word, grandiosely, but he wanted them to have something really special and create a new memory they'll never forget. He had thought about it for quite a while now. Of course the idea of bringing her to Serve had crossed his mind but he wanted a more private moment. He'd thought about going on a weekend but with Rusty being Rusty, she didn't feel like leaving town for too long. So he explored his options and Morales was the one to give him the idea. The doc was telling them, just the other day, that this weekend would be the Night of falling stars, like everyone years around mid August. What was more romantic than to bring your girl out for a meteor shower?
Once he had his idea, he called his good pal Ted and borrowed his pick-up for the weekend. His friend has this huge truck, big enough for him to completely lie down in the back. He knows this for a fact since he helped Ted move and joking around, Andy ended up on his back, enclosed in the pickup box. It was roomy, even with the box completely closed. Oh it'd be perfect.
Over the next few days, he took great joy in putting his plan in place. He went shopping and bought those solar fairy lights. He cooked finger food that he was sure Sharon would enjoy. He tried several combinations to find the comfiest one: pillows and duvet and throws for lying down in the pickup box. He studied the best and quieter spots to go and watch the méteor shower.
On Friday night, he was perfectly ready! He went to pick up Sharon. He had suggested she wore something comfortable and rather warm. He did not expect to see her in a dark gray woolen set, the skirt long but showing all her curves. He imagined that she would opt for jeans and a sweater. He was definitely very pleased. He escorted her to the elevator and down to his car, holding her arm as they talked pleasantly. He rushed to open the car door for her and made sure everything was perfect.
They bantered a bit while he drove. Of course she wanted to know where they were going. Oh course he refused to divulge it before they arrived. It was pleasant and fun. For once the traffic wasn't half bad. The air was warm, pleasantly fragrant from oranges and trees once they escaped town. As they started driving on the long deserted road, the clouds turned purple, the sky beautiful. Oh, it was majestic. He had put a playlist on, an old American classic. It fit the mood just fine. They talked, they sang and they held hands. Before the sun completely set, they arrived at their destination. "What are we doing here?" Sharon asked, amused to see them in the middle of nowhere, not a restaurant or anything around.
"Your table awaits, my Dear." He said with a big smile, kissing her hand and helping her disembark from the high steps of the pickup. They walked around the truck and he opened the box. He folded the top liner and Sharon gasped, astonished. It was marvelous! It seemed so cozy and intimate. Just perfect, like Andy. She turned around and threw her arms around his neck, pulling him down for a long deep kiss. "Let me remind you what's important : us, some good food and the stars." He said, gesturing around them and the sky.
