Here comes the last chapter for 2024 fictober challenge. Mieux vaut tard que jamais ;) like always a big thank you to my friend and beta, TheShadowsEdge
How did this happen?
Sharon let out a sight, unable and unwilling to contain her contentment. She couldn't recall a moment where she had been that… that happy, unbothered, relaxed. She had a hard time coming with the right word. God, she was so utterly spent, she could barely think. It felt so incredibly amazingly …huh. It just felt so good.
She moved her hips slightly, first twisting on the right side, then on the left. She was quite surprised not to find any soreness there. Instead her whole body felt like a giant chamallow. Has she ever felt so slackened? How did this happen? How was it even possible after.. that? She felt incredibly good and mellow but soo abnormal too. She wasn't used to having her mind so fogged up and her body so limp. A thought crossed her mind: What if she had injured her spine while she was… they were… ? Or missed oxygen? They were not brutal, there was no reason to be injured. It had been passionate but tender, intimate, loving… just amazing. She curled her toes, just to check. No, everything was working.
As she relaxed her toes and legs, her body sank more deeply in his incredibly soft mattress. It felt like lying on a cloud, such a wonderful feeling. She could easily fall asleep if she wasn't trying so hard to analyze and memorize each feeling. She grabbed the sheets once more, closing then opening her fist. Her fingers were still tingling a bit, she had the vague memory of holding onto it for dear life. Then, running her thumb on every fingertips, she noticed that several nails were broken. She couldn't care less at that particular moment. She relaxed completely once more, on an exhalation.
The mattress sank next to her. A kiss landed in her neck and an arm around her waist. In another life, with another man, it used to give her anxiety. Not now, not today, not with this one. He was such… so perfect. She rolled her shoulders and he took her cue to come closer, lying partially on her back. She wondered a second on how she had ended up in such a position but immediately smiled. Oh yeah, she remembered.
He placed another kiss on her neck, and another one, and another one. Soft kisses and tender open mouth ones. He gently sucked her skin, licking the sweat that had formed there. He gently pushed her sticky wet hair out of the way and gathered them on the pillow, out of his way. He nuzzled her neck, her shoulder until he found a comfortable place for himself. He sighted and she felt all his weight drop behind her.
There they were, together, half asleep. It felt so right, so very right. She felt a tingling sensation on her sternum and focused her attention on it. A drop of sweat was running down between her breasts. She could feel the moist proof of their previous activity between her legs. She knew she should get up and clean herself up. She abhorred dirtiness and stained sheets, she hated UTIs even more. But for once… She really didn't want to leave her cocoon. "Stop thinking." Said the gruff voice behind her. "Just enjoy. I'll buy you cranberry juice tomorrow." She'd laughed at how accurate his words were, if she had any strength left in her.
She went back to her previous thought instead. Oh cocoon. How lovely it was to be held against him, when she already felt so incredibly good, thanks to him. He made her feel like being enveloped in lov… in tenderness and sweetness. He had the softest skin she ever touched on a man, like a baby skin. She loved to feel his strong muscles underneath that soft exterior. Being inside them, she was at her place, in her element, so relaxed, peaceful and safe. She could let go of any tension, she could let go of anything. He was her safe haven. With him, it was not just sex, it was all about sharing and being one.
It was about feeling respected and taken care of. It was about being with someone who she lo… liked very much and who liked her back. She did not have many experiences with men, that was not an euphemism, but it was the first time in her life that she was with someone so akin to her. She knew many did not see it, or would not believe her. Andy and her, they were alike. They were quiet in the same way, they got bothered by the same stuff and they enjoyed the same simple pleasures of life. The thing she was the most thankful for was to have finally found someone who likes to cuddle and didn't spend his time moving around in bed. Once he was settled, he did not move. He didn't tap his feet, roll his shoulders, take a large amount of breath at once, rocking her head from its place on his chest. No, no, no. He snored, yes, that she didn't mind. How did this happen? How did she finally find her soulmate, this late in life, when she didn't even search for it anymore? She didn't know but she was incredibly grateful. He was there, that was all that mattered. She closed her eyes, let herself sink a little bit more deeply both in the mattress and his arms and fell asleep.
