Woah.
Amity’s breath was caught as Luz clutched her arm, leading her up the Owl Houses’s roof, her warm hand covering her eyes “not to ruin the surprise”. She giggled as Luz nearly lead her into the roof’s gutter, stumbling on the owl pellets.
‘Luz, if you kill me, my Mum won’t let me hear the end of it’ Amity laughed, and Luz tried to steer Amity’s body away from the gutter, chuckling.
‘Ok, ok, open your eyes… now!’ Luz removed her hand from Amity’s eyes, sitting them both down at the top of the roof.
Woah.
Amity’s eyes sparkled as she caught a glimpse of what Luz was showing her; hundreds, no, thousands, of stars, shooting across the night sky, glimmering in constellations and patterns through the dark sky. The bright moon shone among the stars; its moonlight reflected on the Boiling Isles’ Sea below.
A grateful smile spread across Amity’s lips, and she leaned into Luz’s brown hair, eyes shooting to Luz’s face. Her brown curly hair was tied out of her brown eyes, her purple and white sleeveless hoodie blowing slightly in the breeze.
Amity leaned against Luz’s smiling face, sighing at the sight.
‘I’m guessing it was a good surprise?’ Luz asked, grinning.
‘The best,’ Amity replied, and she held her hand against Luz’s, the two squeezing each other’s hands.
‘CLICK! THIS’LL BE THE PERFECT ADDITION TO THE COLLECTION, HOOT HOOT.’
Out of the corner of Amity’s eye, she saw Hooty holding a camera and taking a photo of them. What?
Luz scowled, and stood up quickly, leaving Amity to tumble down the roof, shouting in surprise.
Clinging to the gutter, owl pellets causing her to slip, Amity hung over the roof, legs waving around, trying to find a surface to cling to.
‘Amity!’ Luz yelled, sliding down the roof and grabbing Amity’s hands, trying and failing to pull her back on the roof.
‘Nooooo! My weak nerd arms!’ she exclaimed, causing Amity to chuckle, even in the dire situation.
‘HANG ON, MITTENS!’ Hooty yelled, as Hooty looped his bird- tube? body?- thingy around Amity, safely placing her back on the ground on her knees.
‘Amity!’ Luz yelled, sliding off the roof and tumbling on the ground in front of Hooty’s door, holding a thumbs-up symbol as she fell flat on her face. ‘Are you okay?’
‘I-I’m alright, Luz. Maybe we shouldn’t have our dates on a very high roof next time?’ Amity chuckled, dusting the owl pellets on her dress.
The two chuckled, and stumbled into the Owl House together, holding hands and grins on both faces.
‘Wait, Hooty, what do you mean “the collection”?!’
