Notes:
Here is a refined and organized overview for CUYS.
I tried to hide CUYS spoilers under 'details' tags on this page in case anyone wants the overview without spoilers, but no promises that I got all of them.
This gives a history lesson of how Marvel meshes with MHA in Crawl Under Your Skin.
Chapter Text
Crawl Under Your Skin Overview:
Fuses Venom comics/movies from various multimedia runs and cameos.
- Venom leans more comic-centric with movie tempering.
- Eddie leans more Hardy-centric with some comic backstory.
Fuses MHA manga/anime from various sources.
- Izuku leans more manga with anime elements.
- Deadpool: Samurai is treated as canon (Horikoshi and Marvel approved).
Realistic-ish psychological and sociological look at Marvel and MHA canons with crossover fusion.
- I took some classes in college, I’m not an expert.
Anti-Venom and Dylan Brock are ignored since it’ll cause too much angst in CUYS.
- The canon story also gets so convoluted and testosterone-soaked soap opera-y that I honestly haven’t finished reading modern arcs in full.
Attempts to adhere to Japanese cultural norms for MHA elements.
- I am a dayglo white American so take it with some salt.
—
War time drafting practices made hero academies high schools.
- Children graduated just in time to legally serve in the Meta-Human wars.
- Oboro Shirakumo’s ‘death’ post war triggered public outrage that gradually made hero academies reform to 18+ universities by the time Izuku and co enroll.
—
No dorms yet. They might not appear in CUYS since everyone is 18+.
—
Quirk (Japanese, MHA) = Mutant Power/X-Gene/X-Factor (American, Marvel)
- Most quirks = natural human evolution.
- But a small, critical percentage = external entities hitching a ride on a trend.
---
CUYS One For All and All For One Spoilers
Venom + host ability imprints = One For All (OFA)
- Venom is One For All. OFA was never a quirk, it was just Venom.
- That's why all previous users died so young, being incompatible or hunted by AFO.
- Blackwhip = Venom manifesting outside of Banjo/Izuku without exposing himself as more than just a quirk.
Hiroshi Shigaraki + Rive = All For One (AFO)
- Hiroshi corrupted the symbiote when baby Rive jumped into him, imprinting narcissism, god-complex, etc.
- They have full compatibility, but Rive and Hiroshi share too much ego between them for symbiosis.
- Rive finds humans repulsive, but is forced to keep Hiroshi around for his own survival.
- A direct inverse of Venom’s drive for symbiosis and mutuality.
- Rive severs himself from Knull’s hive so he and Hiroshi stay hidden through the centuries.
- Rivet Stab = Rive manifesting outside of Hiroshi without exposing himself as more than just a quirk.
- That’s why his plans span centuries, and sometimes require waiting for human technology to align with his needs.
- Early pre-quirk propaganda campaigns backfiring on him, and the meta-human wars, set back his plans due to information destruction and erasure.
- Rive = OC red Venom symbiote
- They want to replace Knull (sealed within Klyntar by other gods) as god of the abyss.
- With nomu, he’s experimenting with building an army like Knull’s, but artificially and trying to eliminate free will in his troops completely.
Major Venom Hosts:
Peter Parker
- Actively manipulated Peter to optimize bonding.
- Venom hid as a black spider-suit while secretly bonding.
- His first experience with a human host.
- Feral and parasitic from inexperience.
- Peter ejected him violently via ringing a church bell (symbiote sound weakness), after realizing the black suit was a parasitic alien invader.
- Inexperience with human emotions and rejection makes Venom fixate on Peter as a target of obsessive rage.
- Imprinted powers: Danger Sense/Spidy Sense+Web+Agility
- Peter made Venom feel and imprinted emotionally: guilt, fear, agony, betrayal, etc. First experience with heroic idealism in a host.
- Dead
Eddie
- Thinks that Spider-Man ruined his career as a journalist, leading to his divorce from Anne, family disownment, and the destruction of his life in general.
- He went to a catholic church, intending to kill himself, and met Venom after Peter ejected the symbiote.
- Venom and he bond over mutual obsessive hatred of Spider-Man and vow revenge.
- Eddie named Venom to symbolize his disillusionment with the world and commitment to revenge.
- Venom is still parasitic and manipulative, but human emotional nuance and emerging personal preferences start shaping how he bonds with Eddie, though it’s a long, slow, painful process of trial and error for both of them.
- Upon realizing the destruction and harm to civilians he and Venom were causing in trying to kill Spider-Man, they moved to San Francisco to escape their reputation and body count.
- He began focusing instead on protecting innocents, both from crime and exposing exploitative or illegal practices through journalism.
- This public step away from villainy and into antihero ideology helps placate Peter during later canon team-ups of convenience.
- Peter eventually sells-out Venom to the US government, leading to Agent Venom (with CUYS adaptations).
- Imprinted kindness (eventually), loyalty (eventually), people skills/sleuthing, love (eventually).
- Their relationship started extremely toxic, and still backslides into toxicity on both their parts during stress and arguments.
- They eventually reached full symbiosis, with a deep love for each other.
- Coded romantically but through Venom’s non-human lens.
- This is supported by Tom Hardy and other Venom runs that stated queer coding Eddie and Venom as a deliberate choice.
- Aside from Venom being nonhuman - Eddie’s highly religious catholic upbringing and American toxic masculinity made him internalize queerphobia.
- This made him resist interest in Venom (who presents mostly male for Eddie).
- It took several years of bonding and moving to San Francisco (investigating hate crimes as a consequence of activist journalism) before he started to accept that he’s bisexual and in love with Venom.
- Eddie retains large amounts of Venom biomass
- Venom left more behind than normal to augment his lifespan while they’re separated.
- CUYS Spoilers
- He’s captured by AFO and put in stasis for DNA harvesting.
- AFO has to be strategic in handling Eddie because of Eddie's bond with Venom. Critically injuring or killing him could alert Venom through time and space.
- Venom knows Eddie isn’t dead, but hasn’t been able to find clues on what happened to him.
Flash Thompson
- Strictly regimented exposure to prevent full bonding.
- Imprinted formal USA military training, discipline, PTSD/coping
- Agent Venom
- Used Venom as a secret government weapon.
- Dead
Malekith
- Tortured and force-bonded Venom to himself and multiple others as a weapon
- Caused trauma/PTSD
- Imprinted cruelty/sadism/control issues
- Venom slipped into a half feral state
- Rescued by the Thor Corp and returned to Earth.
- Malekith led the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim in the War of the Realms arc (2019).
- Dead
Banjo
- Venom hid at first but talked to him on accident because he reminded Venom of Eddie.
- Treated Venom with compassion and helped him hide/recover from Malekith.
- Passed fake OFA story to En to protect Venom.
- Banjo was quirkless but Venom helped his vigilante/hero work by pretending to be a quirk called Blackwhip.
- (Blackwhip canonically responds to Izuku’s negative emotions like anger autonomously)
- Imprinted/reinforced/reintroduced protectiveness, loyalty, urban guerrilla tactics)
- Helped re-ground Venom in human psychology instead of dark elf zealotry.
- Dead
En
- Never knew about Venom.
- Venom went dormant except to eat while En was asleep because of low compatibility until he had to jump to Nana.
- Dead
Nana
- Never knew about Venom.
- Venom liked her but stayed dormant except to eat because of AFO's renewed hunt.
- Venom knew about Kotaro Shimura but doesn't know about Tomura.
- Imprinted Float ability.
- Dead
Toshinori
- Never knew about Venom.
- Venom dislikes him because of his idealistic lies, hypocrisy, and resistance to reason.
- Venom remained dormant except to eat, until he sensed Izuku during the sludge villain incident.
- Venom left biomass behind that strengthens All Might even without Venom being present.
- That’s how OFA ‘remnants’ are still accessible to him, until he ‘uses’ it.
Izuku
- First truly compatible host since Eddie.
- Izuku is deeply empathetic, intelligent, and stubborn, with a strict but pragmatic moral compass shaped by 18 years of systemic quirkism and institutionalized physical/verbal/emotional abuse growing up.
- Venom stayed dormant at first.
- CUYS Spoilers
- But interfered to keep Izuku from killing himself shortly after the sports festival.
- Venom gives Izuku the hero name “Venom”, mirroring Eddie giving Venom his (at the time) villain name.
- He fully emerged in Hosu - killing Stain and a flying nomu.

CUYS Characters
Izuku Midoriya + Venom | One For All
Venom had other shorter lived or inconsequential hosts in between major bonds, prior to Banjo.
Banjo promised to keep the secret in exchange for Venom protecting his family from AFO after his death. Banjo helped fabricate the sanitized version of One For All and All For One when he passed Venom to En. Nana received the sanitized version of OFA’s history through En, and passed it to Toshinori.
All Might was slightly more compatible than En and Nana, but Venom doesn’t like him because he’s hypocritical and ego-centric. Venom briefly jumped ship trying to escape Rive during All Might and AFO’s pre-canon showdown. It’s why All Might suffers the debilitating wound but doesn’t die.
Venom’s strengthening effect on past hosts is why All Might still had echoes of OFA. My interpretation of this is that Venom leaves biomass behind in hosts, proportional to the amount of time and strength of bond. The biomass provides residual benefits until the energy is depleted, unless renewed by the symbiote. This depletion mimics physical withdrawal symptoms as it gets low - explaining the ‘addiction’ aspect to symbiosis (with the emotional codependency creating its own psychological withdrawal on top).
Venom notices Izuku when All Might touches him, saving him from the sludge villain. Izuku is perfect, like Eddie. His ideals and morals are even similar. Venom is lonely and has been lonely for centuries since he separated from Eddie to protect him. He nudges All Might towards “giving” Venom to Izuku.
Izuku’s will is strong enough that in moments of peak stress, he overrides Venom’s instincts on accident. He tries not to do this because his drive to protect and lift others up wouldn’t let him. Because of Izuku's mental instability and willpower, he stopped Venom from fully bonding or being able to communicate at first.
Venom is slowly learning how Izuku works in practicality, rather than just what he learned intellectually in bonding to him. In monitoring Izuku’s vitals, he notices that physical touch seems to be the most useful way to ground Izuku and calm him down - he observed Izuku’s reactions to Shoto and Hitoshi physically comforting him and mimicked them. Same with other human gestures he tries.
Venom ‘wears’ Izuku when he's asleep to go out and eat without disturbing him - until Izuku becomes aware of him and negotiates to be awake during hunts. As a joke, Venom adds rabbit ears to his form when he takes over Izuku, because he thinks Izuku's costume hood tribute to All Might looks like bunny ears. This leads to rumors that All Might’s shadow (because of Venom’s humanoid physique) is a cryptid villain called All Bite. Tomura wants to recruit All Bite.
Venom strongly resists psychic attacks and intrusions (like he resisted Prof X, Emma Frost, and others). It's why Izuku broke out of brainwashing in the sports festival. Venom was protecting him.
After the sports festival, Venom influenced Izuku to pick Venom as his hero name, instead of Deku. Venom hates the name ‘Deku’ because of what it represents for Izuku. He won’t tolerate his host having a demeaning name.
Izuku is cis male and pansexual.
Venom is biologically sexless and is genderfluid (depending on host preference). Venom is asexual and aromantic but enjoys sex with beloved hosts to:
- Generate chemicals and hormones in the host that he needs nutritionally
- Reinforce the bond emotionally
- Feel good physically, since he’s tapped into their nervous system.
He and Eddie’s relationship is dysfunctional but they love each other deeply in an emotional, physical, and (to Eddie) romantic way. Venom is interested in Izuku in the same way as Eddie, but only if Izuku wants to bond that way too.
Izuku knows other quirkless people but even they think he’s weird for being quirk-obsessed while not having one, and being neurodivergant. He’s completely isolated and bullied in most social circles. His relationship with his mother his strained since he increasingly is being called a NEET and ‘geneless’ to her face. It’s impacting her work and social life. Izuku is doing everything in his power to try getting jobs to support the household but no one wants to hire him.
Inko loves Izuku, but she sees quirklessness as a disability (“What’s wrong with him, doctor?” “I’m sorry” (to/about young Izuku, instead of comforting him)). Fanon presumes she got depressed and started binge-eating, in addition to canon anxiety and wishy-washy involvement in Izuku’s life/school. She is a single Japanese mother of a socially disabled son, who can’t bring in family benefits, and who probably won’t give grandchildren/will give quirkless grandchildren. The social and financial pressure, especially now that Izuku is an adult, is wearing her down. She’s trying, but she can’t understand Izuku enough to connect. She is also quirkist, though in the insidious way that thinks she’s being helpful or doing the right thing.
Katsuki stopped attacking Izuku because he realized age 14+ can be tried as adults for assault/murder in Japan, but he falls back on bad habits when he gets in a nasty mood or genuinely feels threatened by Izuku. In high school, he told Izuku to take a swan dive off the roof and burned his shoulders + notebook, same as canon just older timeline. The slime villain incidents and encounters with All Might occurred as normal to canon.
Hiroshi Shigaraki + Rive | All For One
Rive is Venom’s red offspring, who bonded to a young, charismatic, and power-hungery sociopath (like Cassidy but worse) named Hiroshi Shigaraki. Hiroshi already had the power to steal other abilities through natural x-gene awakening, but Rive enhanced it, breaking the natural limits of how many abilities Hiroshi can use and hold at once.
Hiroshi was an exchange-student intern for a politician's office in America when he first met Rive. During his rise to power in Japan, he became a politician to directly influence the world from the shadows. He directly influenced world wide propaganda campaigns to erase history and influence cultures to shift into a more easily controlled state. Throughout the centuries, he has re-entered the political field under pseudonyms or puppet politicians to direct the world where he wants it to go. He lobbied world lawmakers to create various national forms of the Quirk Registry in order to make it easier for him to find quirks he wants to harvest. He also encouraged education, incarceration, and poverty measures that would push more people towards villainy.
He met Dr Garaki, who worked for the Life Foundation, and they partnered up for genetic experimentation. Garaki’s natural quirk is longevity.
This direct approach to world history required him to delay experimenting on Eddie due to time constraints. Periods of war and theory outpacing tech required waiting as well. His own propaganda campaigns backfired sometimes, and the Meta-Human Wars (led by the Destro line) hurt his efforts, due to destruction of knowledge and infrastructure.
In the early days, AFO tried bonding Venom to Yoichi (his younger brother) as a form of trying to control both Yoichi and Venom. Compatibility was too low and Yoichi’s health was too frail, Venom killed him without intending to.
Using Venom’s DNA from Eddie, AFO reverse-engineered nomu and created a fake hive mind using sound.
Eddie was captured by AFO shortly after he and Venom split to protect each other. Eddie was shoved into stasis so they could harvest DNA from him without risking him getting out or Venom being alerted (symbiotes can sense when previous hosts die through time and space).
The black nomu are cloned symbiotes force-bound to quirk twisted corpses or near-dead prisoners. AFO uses sound to control them.
It's why nomu are weak to fire, like Hood and the white ones to Hellfire. Explosion disrupts Kurogiri because Bakugo creates heat and fire with percussive force from the blasts. Same with Jiro’s sound attacks. It's why Tomura trusts Dabi to handle them, out of everyone in the League - Dabi has blue fire at his fingertips if the sound-control fails and a nomu gets loose.
The Shimura line is directly descended from Hiroshi. He literally seeded biological, self-perpetuating, backups into the population (i.e. he had many kids). Tenko was convenient and compatible as a possible Rive host and Hiroshi consciousness transfer.
Tomura Shigaraki | Tenko Shimura
Tomura doesn’t know about Rive, Venom, OFA, or symbiotes, but AFO impressed on him that sound disruptions make nomu unstable, so they need a handler unless pure destruction is the intent (like Hosu).
Tomura resents AFO and routinely calls him out when his plans fail - like the USJ/nomu failure (shot by Snipe), meeting Stain for recruitment (got Tomura stabbed), etc. AFO gaslights him every time. By Tomura’s reactions, it’s safe to assume he’s not ignorant to the manipulation, he just doesn’t have any alternatives.
He doesn’t remember his early childhood before AFO - he also doesn’t consciously remember AFO’s torture and conditioning when he was first “rescued”. During the mall scene, in canon he tells Izuku that he doesn’t want to fight, but next time they meet they might be enemies. If that's true, his heart isn’t in AFO’s plans.
CH 19 roof scene with Tomura - Kurogiri was only supposed to portal Tomura away, not try to capture ‘All Bite’. Tomura is furious that Kurogiri might have sabotaged his recruitment attempt.
Kurogiri was acting under orders from AFO.
AFO recognizes ‘All Bite’ for what he is and wants him for study.
Dabi | Touya Todoroki
Touya ‘dies’ at Sekoto Peak. The spectacular visual display drew attention from local AFO supporters who were assigned to watch Endeavor. They grabbed Endeavor’s eldest son and gave him to AFO.
AFO gave Touya to Dr. Garaki to study because of his weird physiology and X-Factor conflict.
4 years later: Touya wakes up in an AFO sponsored ‘orphaned child care’ facility (like ‘villain factories’). Brainwashing tactics fail and he burns the facility to the ground in an emotional display of self-preservation. It kills other children in the facility - unknown to Touya at the time.
Touya, confused and not realizing what’s happened, stumbles home. He feels remorse, he just wants his family - he’s scared. But when he arrives home, he finds his bedroom gone - a shrine where his futon was - and his family moved on like he never existed. He conflates his family moving on with a lack of care.
His slow realization that the world and his own body moved on without his knowledge is at odds with his physical age and injuries, making his already tenuous mental health snap.
Bitter, he tries to learn how to navigate the world as a 13 year old in a 17 year old’s body, physically disfigured and in chronic pain, and with no support. (Touya burned when he was 13; he would still think he’s 13 when he wakes up, even four years later.)
He eventually renames himself Dabi to try fitting in with underworld contacts for jobs to survive. Later, he hears about the orphanage fire and puts two and two together - he internalizes the deaths as his fault and proof that he belongs where he ended up.
Unknown to either of them, he and Hitoshi move into the same apartment building as neighbors around the same time Hitoshi, Shoto, and Izuku get into UA. He's 4B. A series of jobs from Giran gave him enough funds to afford a roof for a while. When he moved in, he was malnourished and not ‘present’ - Hitoshi started feeding him when he could afford to. This helped Dabi recover from street life and evolve from ‘survival mode’ to noticing world events like Stain. The tradition of feeding Dabi extended to Shoto unknowingly buying Dabi food with Endeavor’s money when he and Izuku started visiting Hitoshi’s building. Izuku also provided medical supplies without prompting and isn’t put-off by Dabi’s socially stunted personality, barbs, or appearance.
Dabi sees himself in how Izuku acts - especially the disassociation while washing blood out of clothes like it’s normal, the numb deflection, etc.
He connected the dots of Izuku’s late night wanderings coinciding with reports of a vigilante activity around Musutafu. Izuku’s behavior is at stark odds with his televised status as a hero student strong enough to stand toe-to-toe with Endeavor’s masterpiece and only lose because he hurt himself more than Shoto could, making him interesting to Dabi.
After the League claims credit for killing Stain, Dabi asks Giran for an introduction. He’s intrigued by the League’s strength and wants to see if they could be useful for getting revenge on Endeavor.
He’s disturbed by Tomura’s fixation on Izuku and keeps his knowledge to himself. He speaks against kidnapping students when he realizes Izuku is a target for capture (Tomura wants him recruited) or death (AFO tells the League explicitly that Izuku is on the ‘kill list’), but ultimately doesn’t make a fuss. He rationalizes that Izuku painted a target on his own back by trying to be a hero.
Venom is biologically and personality compatible with Dabi, but Dabi and Venom would destroy each other via Blue Flame and mental instability.
Shoto Todoroki | Shoto
After Japanese hero academies became universities, Endeavor turned more brutal in his training methods due to perceived ‘lost time’. Shoto and Fuyumi have a strained relationship because she thinks Endeavor can be redeemed, but she recognizes the harm being done to Shoto and helps when she can. Shoto and Natsuo have a strained relationship because Natsuo blames Shoto for Touya dying and Rei being institutionalized (Natsuo realizes this is unreasonable, but internalized Touya’s childhood rants against Shoto and Endeavor).
Unknown to anyone but Rei and Endeavor, Shoto was originally supposed to be twins - one with fire power, one with ice power - but Endeavor paid for a shady geneticist (Dr. Garaki, working as a pediatric quirk specialist named Dr. Tsubasa at the time. The same pediatrician who verified Izuku’s quirklessness) to force the fetuses to merge into one, as a genetic chimera. Endeavor wanted a child with his fire power, but that could mitigate the weakness of overheating. After so many “failures”, and with Rei’s mental and physical health failing after so many births and so much stress, Endeavor didn’t want to leave Shoto’s birth up to chance.
Shoto remembers Touya faintly, that he was nice. He grew up being compared to an older brother that he believes he can never live up to the memory of. He doesn’t resent Touya, he wishes they could have met under different circumstances. He keeps a picture of Rei, Touya, Fuyumi, and Natsuo, from before he was born, as a reminder of what Endeavor ruined and what Shoto feels personally responsible for breaking, as the object of Endeavor’s obsession.
Shoto recognizes Izuku's burn scars and correctly connects them to Katsuki’s Explosion. That's why he felt comfortable trauma dumping on Izuku at the sports festival, seeing a kindred spirit. It's also why he reacts decisively when he notices Izuku acting weird, to the point of rudely following Izuku home with Hitoshi in CH 1.
Shoto is incompatible with Venom on a biological and personality level. Shoto’s ice control could mitigate damage to Venom from fire, but his chimeric DNA and personality clashes. Venom would cause damage to Shoto from biological rejection and mental fracture.
Cis male, gay.
Hitoshi Shinso | Angler
Mineta doesn’t exist. Hitoshi replaced him in 1-A from the start, but he’s still a standoffish ass because he thinks the other 1-A students are stuck up golden children. He lands with Izuku and Tsu in the USJ, brainwashing a couple of the villains as a distraction for the escape. He only started seeing Izuku’s and Shoto’s cracks after the Sports Festival.
Hitoshi is an orphan from a villain attack. His parents were killed when he was twelve. Quirkism was traumatizing even before becoming an orphan in a group home. He aged out of the system and affords UA and his decrepit studio apartment due to government grants.
Hitoshi recognizes that Izuku isn't mentally well. It's why he intrudes on Izuku's life with Shoto in CH 1, when Izuku starts acting weird. He witnessed mental illness, violence, and suicide aftermath in the group home he lived in.
He shares high compatibility with Venom, though Venom needs to be careful about Brainwashing potentially triggering hive connections when used on/around abyss beings. They get along well with shared gallows humor and personality meshing. Hitoshi is revulsed by the inherent violence, but understands the biological need to eat. He disassociates when Venom kills but stays present enough to prevent unjust deaths.
Cis male, pansexual.
Shota Aizawa | Eraserhead
Aizawa went into a deep depressive, self-destructive spiral, after Oboro ‘died’. He became reckless, self-sacrificing, and numb (like Izuku is now).
During patrols he turned more and more brutal until he accidentally killed a villain. He didn’t regret or feel guilt for doing so - that disturbed him into confiding in Yamada. Together they sought help from Nezu.
He sees the same pattern in Izuku and he doesn’t like it. He also doesn’t like not knowing what trauma made Izuku so self-destructive and self-sacrificing.
In high stakes fights he doesn’t regulate his own force - he killed a few of the USJ villains to protect his students. He doesn’t regret doing it, he regrets that it’s necessary. During triggering villain encounters (rape, abuse, serial murder, etc), he falls back on brutal tactics without remorse. This isn’t uncommon in heroics, it’s just not publicized.
The apprehension test follows manga - Aizawa never erased Izuku's quirk or threatened to expel anyone. Izuku broke his arm during the ball throw and Aizawa lectured him.
Aizawa’s eyes are red like the anime when he uses his quirk because I love cryptid!Aizawa stories and red fits that better.
Aizawa is partially compatible with Venom, though Venom causes him to backslide into outright brutal antihero tactics. Aizawa is also very strong-willed and independent, which enables him to reject Venom to preserve his own mental health and ethics. Aizawa’s experience dealing with Nezu as a non-human predatory entity gives him some insight into dealing with Venom’s instincts. This might not come up in CUYS, but it’s good to note.
Fumikagi Tokoyami + Dark Shadow | Tsukuyomi
Dark Shadow is a fragment of the Abyss. Not symbiote, but sentient null-energy. It took bird shape upon arriving to earth because it mimics the host’s mind, manifesting what Tokoyami feared (darkness) and needed (protection).
At first, it didn’t understand that children are different from adults and scared Fumikagi - it’s why he’s still afraid of DS sometimes, and losing control.
Venom ignores Dark Shadow because he’s non-threatening and hasn’t sensed Venom yet.
Dark Shadow is affected by AFO’s fake hivemind, but rather than controlling, it sends him into a fearful and protective rage of his host. In canon, most of the times DS loses control is when nomu are being controlled nearby (aside from Fumikage also being in mortal danger in those instances as well).
DS can link to a hivemind - different than symbiotes, not Knull affiliated - but prefers not to, in order to protect Fumikagi from cosmic forces.
“Dark Shadow heard a hymn with no words. It told him to kneel. So he screamed instead.” maybe forest camp.
Tokoyami is semi-compatible with Venom, but Dark Shadow would have intense and violent words if Venom jumped to him. Dark Shadow is incompatible with Izuku, which is why Venom ignores him.

Chapter Text
CUYS Future Arcs
- At the mall, Izuku talks with Tokoyami and DS about whether or not DS’s hive is dangerous. DS reassures Izuku that his ‘flock’ doesn’t care about humans, and prefer to avoid Earth because of its light exposure.
- After separating from Tokoyami and DS, Izuku is caught by Tomura, like in canon, who just wants to talk. Venom confirms the lack of hostility, Danger Sense/Spidy Sense not triggering for him. He still wants to eat Tomura, but Izuku wants to hear him out - especially after the encounter on the roof.
- Tomura is still upset at Stain getting all the attention (like in canon) - the League claimed credit for Stain’s death to bolster recruitment, but his ideologies are still all anyone talks about. Death made Stain a martyr.
- Izuku tries to explain to Tomura that despite Stain’s methods, he still represents hope for a lot of people who are hurt by corrupt heroes. People can’t understand mindless destruction, like the nomu in Hosu - but they can understand, and even approve of, motivations that aim to better their situations. Hopeless people, people hurt by heroes, were seen and acknowledged by Stain’s actions.
- Izuku asks Tomura, “What do you wish could be different?” Tomura can’t answer. He leaves soon after, without saying anything else.
Forest Training Camp
- The League took public credit for killing Stain, contradicting the police’s Endeavor coverstory, to leverage the reputation for recruitment.
- This intrigued Dabi into joining.
- Spinner is bitter at Stain's death but carries on in his name independent of the League. He doesn't join them.
- Katsuki is left behind at UA for psych evals and sensitivity training instead of going to camp.
- Izuku and Venom kill Muscular to save Kota
- It's the first time he agrees with and syncs with Venom during a kill.
- After rescuing Kota and handing him off to Aizawa, Izuku and Venom separate due to the nomu control signal interfering and causing pain - Dabi's fire also threatens Venom.
- Dark Shadow kills Moonfish, driven mad by the nomu control signal until the nomu is out of range and Shoto subdues him with fire-light.
- Izuku is taken alone instead of Katsuki. Venom bonds to Hitoshi to survive outside of Izuku.
Kamino Ward
- Kidnapping Day 2 - AFO annexes Izuku from Tomura and summons him to the nomu warehouse
- This pushes Tomura to a breaking point, since he and Izuku were resonating with each other.
- AFO heavily suspects Izuku is Venom’s host because of his and All Might’s behavior.
- He tries convincing Izuku, silver-tongued devil style, that Venom is evil and only leaves destruction, death, and suffering in his wake. That “symbiotes” are parasitic invaders called Klyntar who manipulate and deceive by nature, that AFO is trying to stop them by fighting fire with fire.
- He shows off Eddie’s preserved body in a nomu tank, claiming ‘this’ is what happens to Venom’s ‘favorites’ when he gets tired of them. That Venom abandoned Eddie and AFO saved him from a long, slow, painful death from cancer. He implies that Venom left Eddie because he was defective.
- Shock, horror, and grief cause Izuku to lash out and attack AFO
- Using Venom’s biomass still inside him as pseudo-batteries to channel echoes of Venom’s abilities
- It looks like canon OFA, but more damaging to Izuku’s body.
- Izuku destroys most of the computer equipment in AFO’s control station trying to attack AFO and find a way out.
- This later helps efforts to rescue Izuku since AFO can’t monitor the bar or warehouse, or surrounding areas.
- Rive manifests as Rivet Stab and subdues Izuku violently.
- Rive gets impatient and jumps into Izuku to look at his memories directly
- Not realizing how strong-willed Izuku is (Izuku suppressed Venom like a virus/parasite at first, without meaning to or knowing about him, preventing true bonding or communication).
- AFO and Rive torture Izuku, trying to break his mental shields.
- Tomura storms to the warehouse to demand his prisoner back. He, without AFO’s knowledge, witnesses AFO merging with Rive again. He keeps it to himself and pretends to only just enter the building.
- AFO let's Tomura take Izuku back, intending to try a good cop, bad cop Stockholm syndrome route.
- Tomura helps Izuku recover and questions him about what Rive is.
- AFO’s skull helmet is to protect himself and Rive against his own nomu sound tech.
- Later, when Eddie and Venom are reunited, Izuku starts crying and calls Eddie “my Eddie”. His symbiosis and empathy made him love Eddie too.
- Eddie is confused because he doesn't know Izuku but he's touched. He tells Izuku that Izuku is not Eddie or Venom - trying to gently help him distance and ground himself.
- Venom says something creepy but sweet about bonding with them both.
- Eddie joins UA as a TA to recover and reintegrate with modern Japanese society.
- Venom shares the Japanese language with Eddie via symbiosis memory sharing.
- Eddie comments on Venom being so touchy-feely and gentle with Izuku - Venom explains that Izuku’s mental instability blocks their bond, so keeping him happy and relaxed is best. Venom also admits to liking being more than a weapon to Izuku and his inner circle when hunger and hero work don’t require. They let him be himself, within human reason.
Overhaul Arc
- Spinner witnesses Venom mid corrupted hero kill (Izuku witnessed the hero deliberately let a heteromorph die and doesn't stop Venom taking revenge) one night and starts idolizing All Bite instead of Stain.
- Shoto is giving Endeavor the middle finger by going with the hero under him in rank, Hawks, and despite their powers not being compatible. This works for Shoto though, because he wants to practice avoiding causing harm to Hawks’ feathers in combat so he can later practice not hurting Venom– Shoto uses Hawks as a guinea pig for theoretical team tactics with Izuku.
Meta Liberation Army
In later arcs, Detnerat catches wind of the Hosu city coverup and sends Chitose to sniff out the truth - and whether or not Izuku and Shoto are recruitable for the MLA. Calls back to Aizawa warning them about the media in the hospital post-Stain.
Geten Himura is related to Rei Himura (Todoroki). Probably cousins. The Himura family are not portrayed in a good light in canon (i.e. selling children (Rei to Endeavor) | inbreeding for blood purity eugenics, Chapter 387 MHA Final War Arc).
This makes Shoto, and the other Todoroki children, a person of interest to them on multiple fronts.
Not sure if I’m keeping Hawks as a main side character. If so, maybe the MLA send him to recruit Shoto as a power move, because he’s related to Geten. Shoto and Fumikage workstudy with Hawks.
The HPSC lied about Hawks’ age on paper, claiming he is older than he is so that he could get a hero license with the last of the 18 year old hero graduates. The world thinks Hawks is Aizawa’s age - Hawks and the HPSC know that Hawks is only a year older than Tomura. At least until Skeptic hacks an HPSC backup server and finds buried files for the assassin program that bought and groomed Hawks and Nagant. The MLA leverage this to try blackmailing Hawks into true compliance. This just prompts Hawks to help Venom and the League massacre Daika City when Re-Destro calls him for help.
Katsuki workstudies with Endeavor alone and, much like Best Jeanist, he hates the experience because he recognizes that Endeavor’s private behavior isn’t that of a hero. And he recognizes himself in the prideful, arrogant, and abusive, actions he witnesses or learns about.
Humarise
Flect Turn of Humarise is a dark elf remnant from Malekith’s forces that survived. Not symbiote related, but running a murder-suicide cult with genocidal leanings like World Heroes canon. He's collecting quirkless people as the 'last pure humans' and leveraging them as disposable figureheads while trying to annihilate quirked people as evolutionary and magical abominations. He doesn’t actually care about humans - he wants earth purified and returned to oblivion. Humarise is his way of doing so.
Izuku ends up running into Rody and Humarise. Rody’s ‘quirk’ is a minor light fragment that bonded to Rody. Venom keeps trying to eat it.
Because Humarise threatens human extinction on Earth, it might draw resistance from other Earth symbiotes, dimensional beings, and species that rely on humans for survival or entertainment. It could explain the serendipitous occurrences that let Rody and Izuku reach Humarise HQ despite being international fugitives who are wanted dead. The Humarise villains are insanely OP, beyond reason. It in fact takes Shoto and Katsuki (in my headcanon at least - I don’t think the movie shows contradicting info but it’s been a while since I watched it) killing a few in order to survive. Never mind stopping the ‘quirk bomb’ plot with the ‘power of friendship’ like Izuku and Rody do. That was a stupid resolution. I know it’s Izuku’s gimmick to inspire and overcome hardship with friendship and determination, but against those odds, and with them actively dying, I call fowl.

Chapter Text
CUYS Headcanons
Izuku talks to Venom out loud because he still has his canon tendency to talk to himself. He processes things verbally and everyone who knows him, knows his muttering is normal. The thought hasn’t occurred to Izuku to try talking to Venom non-verbally because it’s just how Izuku’s brain works anyway.
Izuku is canonically 5’5” (165.10 cm). Venom is 7’6” (228.6 cm) on the low average across runs. Izuku’s vertigo and disorientation when Venom takes over is a physical reaction, not just a metaphor for losing control.
—
Izuku, Hitoshi, and Shoto acknowledge Venom as a sentient and intelligent person readily because they know, in their own ways, what it is to be dehumanized and treated as an object or less than autonomous/free willed. Venom isn’t human, and they don’t forget it, but they treat him how they wish they were treated. This is also the biggest source of Izuku’s moral quandary about Venom’s violence and murder.
Humans kill bugs and animals for causing harm. But if Izuku could talk, reason, emotionally resonate, etc, with a flea or a man-eating lion, it would 100% change how he responds to the problem in a fundamental way.
He reacts to Venom how he would react to a human with a violent-by-nature quirk. It’s not that person’s fault - they literally need to kill to survive - so confinement or punishment becomes a non-option unless that person escalates to violence or antagonism on their own without reason (joy killing). For Izuku, it becomes a question of reducing collateral damage and guiding outcomes, rather than imprisonment and suppression.
—
Some of Venom’s personality difference compared to canon depictions are because he’s tempering himself through Izuku’s Japanese norms. Previous hosts have been American or non-human, influencing Venom’s lens of the world prior. He would at least notice, even if he doesn’t always care about, the social and cultural differences.
—
Venom’s ‘telepathy’ with hosts is a shared sensory hallucination. Kind of like him making Eddie hallucinate him in reflections, just internal. It’s not ‘mind reading’ or anything. This would also support him projecting himself into host dreams - it’s more that he’s tapping into the host’s senses while they’re sleeping, which could include dream visuals and sensations.
—
Izuku doesn’t notice the enhanced hunger pangs from Venom, unless Venom is particularly hungry, because he’s a young man who already shovels obscene amounts of food into his face because of training. Unlike past hosts, Izuku is also not starving Venom by restricting his food intake, or trying to make him vegetarian (animals only, in symbiote terms).
Eddie trying to keep Venom from eating too many humans, and neglecting his own health, is what enhanced the hunger pains to dramatic heights. It would also explain the contention in their relationship over who and what to eat.
Venom wants to keep Eddie happy, but Eddie is starving Venom, which jacks up Venom’s aggression and reactivity from hunger, which feeds into Eddie’s aggression and neuroses, etc. Their dysfunctional relationship makes sense in that lens.
In contrast: Izuku’s only request about eating is that he let Izuku judge worthiness first. It’s why Venom has given minimal real push-back and boundary-poking for Izuku (past the first hunt stress-test).
—
Izuku, Hitoshi, and Shoto don’t question Venom speaking in plurality because they don’t want to seem rude commenting on what, to humans, is usually a tic or weird personal choice.
—
Izuku still calls Katsuki “Kacchan” because he knows it gets on Katsuki’s nerves. He also uses it deliberately around others, for the same reason. He loves that some of 1-A have started calling Katsuki ‘Kacchan’ as well. It’s a subtle form of revenge. I think this is true in canon as well, Izuku has a few petty moments.
—
The green and red lightning is from Izuku accidentally tapping into Venom’s abilities without being able to properly channel them. Basically he’s overclocking himself, and that creates visual disturbances as his nerves struggle to fire fast enough to keep up. This goes away the more they sync and reach full symbiosis, but comes back when they argue or disagree during a fight.
Eddie’s fevers and excessive adrenaline sweats are similar, just different expressions.
—
Venom amplifies Izuku's anxiety, opposed to Eddie's aggression (which is beneficial to Venom's symbiosis). Izuku's mental instability blocks his bond with Venom. This complicates how Venom can handle Izuku emotionally.
My take is that Izuku is just as aggressive as anyone else, he's just been conditioned to internalize it as anxiety and hyperanalysis for survival, instead of physical violence. This is because he was punished for fighting back against bullies/oppression or establishing boundaries growing up. He fears his own anger responses because of experiencing aggression from Katsuki and other bullies growing up, which leads him to repress it. It's also highly regulated by his moral alignment and ethics.
Eddie and Venom started out with the shared rage at Spider-Man as a bonding point for aggressive predation. Izuku has no target for Venom to exploit because his trauma is focused inward instead of blaming other people (even when he objectively, and reasonably, should).
—
Venom is manipulative by nature, but not intention. As a parasitic/symbiotic being, his survival depends wholly on his host. Without his host, he can’t get the passive nutrients/power boost he needs from bonding. Despite severing himself from Knull’s hive in CUYS, Venom still has the intrinsic instinct to collect data and maintain his host’s compliance and suitability.
Venom’s manipulation of hosts isn’t malicious, it’s survival. That’s why certain Marvel canon abilities, like Ghost Rider’s Penance Stare, have no effect on symbiotes. Venom feels no remorse for what he’s done and who he’s killed because he’s an obligate carnivore acting on biological necessity.
Venom is amoral. His morality is based on instinct and his host’s values. Venom has internalized and adopted certain preferences, such as targeting violent criminals for food instead of civilians, from past hosts. But he will still kill innocents to survive and protect his host.
—
Venom genuinely cares for and loves Eddie, and later Izuku. This is a consequence of biologically interfacing with human hosts and absorbing knowledge of what love is. His understanding and expression of love is different from humans, but the end result is (hopefully) mutually desired and beneficial:
Venom stays bonded to an ideal host. The host gets some type of fulfillment. Through the host’s nervous system, Venom then receives positive feedback in the form of novel sensations/experiences and hormonal/chemical food from the host.
—
Venom channels Lethal Protector and Agent Venom, but gentler, with Izuku - because Izuku wouldn’t tolerate overt domination and is far more emotionally sensitive than past hosts.
If Izuku ever caught Venom in a lie or manipulation, it would shatter his trust and risk permanent rejection (like Peter). Izuku is smart enough to extrapolate the broader dangers of symbiosis on his own, and be wary of loss of agency, making Venom’s normal manipulation tactics inefficient. The only reason Venom gained a foothold so soon was because of Izuku’s depressive spiral and mortal danger.
Venom recognizes this risk. That’s why he outright tells Izuku in CUYS CH 7 that he didn’t intend to share violent instincts so soon, rather than deflect or justify the accidental memory bleed from a past hunt. He’s still selective with the information he shares, but he tries not to lie or deceive outright even when the truth disturbs Izuku. It’s Venom choosing the lesser evil between two undesirable options for bonding with a highly compatible person.
He subtly nudges Izuku away from rigid martyrdom, but what Venom didn’t anticipate was how Izuku’s empathy and desire for connection would reshape the bond. Instead of isolating and becoming dependent on Venom like past hosts, Izuku leans on his peers, forcing Venom to share influence.
Izuku could be manipulated into abandoning UA for a fully vigilante lifestyle, but doing so would make Izuku too mentally unstable and self-destructive for Venom to mediate. For now, Venom recognizes that Izuku is safest and healthiest with human support, not only Venom.
—
Izuku understands why Iida went after Stain in Hosu - but Izuku won’t forgive him because instead of helping civilians escape nomu, Iida chose to hunt a villain.
This is mirrored by Shoto commenting that Endeavor only saw the villains when he arrived at the alley.
Izuku stays friends, but not close with, Iida after Hosu. As a consequence, he drifts away from Uraraka and Tsu, who don’t know what happened.
—
Toga and Monoma are descended from AFO’s genetics, and kept elements of his quirk through the generations.
This could also explain both of their mental instabilities. It’s either inherited through genetics, or AFO did something to cause it (a la Tomura). Insane or erratic living puppets are easier to take over later, if they survive and if they’re compatible with Rive. And in the meantime, they’re useful pawns.
—
Aldera is a villain factory. That's why it's almost cartoonish how they treat Izuku and presumably others in canon.
This explains why Izuku’s ex-classmates from CUYS CH 1 were so comfortable physically attacking him despite seeing the sports festival. They were trained and encouraged to act like childish villains through their formative years, with Izuku as the scapegoat in their class, so they kept acting like it as adults since real consequences were never enforced. When they’re punished later, they’ll get even more bitter and resentful of the system - encouraging continued villain activity.
—
Scream into the Void.
Stare into the Abyss.
Don’t confuse the two:
Screaming into the Abyss hurts the symbiotes.
Staring into the Void without saying anything makes the void creatures self-conscious.
Mostly joking. Or am I? Present Mic is Void Beast confirmed? “I once screamed so loud I blacked out and woke up speaking in runes. Never drank that much again.”
—
Ectoplasm’s costume is based on legends of an early American hero, Flash Thompson (Agent Venom). His physical appearance was a subject of bullying as a child so he was looking for heroes with unsettling or monstrous appearances like himself. Flash inspired him to become a hero. After losing his legs as a young hero in a villain attack, he leaned into the aesthetic during his post recovery rebrand.
Venom thinks it’s hilarious, even if it makes him miss Flash. He’s glad his old host is still remembered and honored, even if the legends got exaggerated.
—
Native survived Stain’s attack - barely. The trauma made him re-evaluate his self-image and he started doing outreach for at-risk international native populations like the Ainu.
—
After the fight with All Might where he and AFO almost kill each other pre-canon: Rive helps AFO see despite not having eyes anymore. They lean into it for intimidation.
—
The UA battle robots are repurposed Meta-Human War machines.
—
The term “mutant” remained as a slur for people displaying non-human traits. Japan normalized the slur by officially adding it as a quirk type on their Quirk Registry.
- Official Japanese quirk designations:
- Emitter
- Transformation
- Mutant = Official. Slur borrowed from American ‘mutant power’ propaganda in early push for ‘quirk’ history rewrite. Dehumanizing.
- Heteromorph = Unofficial, Preferred social term (Think ‘Indian’ verse ‘Native American’)
- My headcanon says that the USA official designation for non-human presenting people would be “Beast Class” or something equally demeaning.
—
A pointless but cute thought: Touya named newborn Shoto. That’s why Shoto’s name is literally just “hot and cold”. Rei corrected it to be more poetic but kept the meaning.

This unedited overview is a chaotic mess of mania. Say hello to my brain. A more up to date, organized one is in a different chapter. I just wanted to show off my stream of consciousness while trying to theorycraft.

Chapter Text
Crawl Under Your Skin Overview:
Adheres to Venom and Marvel comics and movies, as well as My Hero Academia comics and anime. Deadpool: Samurai as MHA canon (Horikoshi approved). As much as possible within the bounds of the story.
Attempts to adhere to Japanese cultural norms for MHA elements.
Realistic look at Marvel and MHA canons with AU fusion.
UA is a university, first years are 18. That adds three years of highschool to Izuku’s trauma.
Explosion disrupts kurogiri in canon because he creates heat and fire with percussive force with the blasts. Same with Jiro’s sound attacks.
Venom is OFA, absorbing mutant (x-men) "quirk" powers from previous hosts. Quirks are to the Japanese, what mutant powers were to Americans. Although the term “mutant” remained for people displaying non-human features. OFA was never a quirk it was just Venom evolving.
Because of Izuku's existing mental instability Venom didn't want to break him because Izuku is a perfect compatibility, something he hasn’t found in centuries.
That's why all previous users died so young, being incompatible or hunted. All-Might was slightly more compatible but Venom briefly jumped ship after realizing AFO was a symbiote, he doesn't like All-Might and doesn't appreciate his feelings being ignored in not wanting to fight AFO. It’s why All Might suffers the debilitating wound but doesn’t die. Venom’s strengthening effect on even past hosts is why All-Might still had echoes of OFA. Izuku's will and instability are so strong he stopped Venom from bonding or being able to communicate.
The Shimura line is directly descended from Koichi Shigaraki (AFO’s real, human name. His younger brother is Yoichi Shigaraki) Koichi, during his rise to power, became a politician to directly influence the world. He literally seeded biological, self-perpetuating, backups into the population (i.e. he had many kids). Tenko was convenient and compatible as a possible Rive host and Koichi consciousness transfer.
Venom possesses Izuku when he's asleep to go out and eat without injuring his host. Everyone thinks venom is a new villain and the League wants to recruit him.
AFO has symbiosis with a venom symbiote red spawn named Rive (manifests most often as Rivet Stab, lol). They want to replace Knull (sealed - temporarily) as a god. Rive cut himself off from the hive to hide the treasonous activity.
UA is a university ‘cause Venom is sometimes “helpful” to his hosts. 18+ only.
Deadpool is MHA canon and All Might knows him from the USA. Plot relevant, but Deadpool won’t stay as a character past his plot convenience, as he pleases. (If Wade 4th wall breaks CUYS, it would make CUYS canon, by canon rules)
Izuku knows other quirkless people but even they think he’s weird for being quirk-obsessed while not having one and neurodivergant.
—
It starts shortly after the Sports Festival and seeing the weird shadowy things. Venom starts trying to make contact so he can keep the stupid kid from killing them.
–
Spiderman was a previous “user”, contributing Danger Sense once Izuku starts accessing Venom’s mutations.
He’s never found a host he bonded with so wholly and completely since Eddie, but then he touches Izuku while saving him from the sludge monster as All Might. Izuku is perfect, like Eddie. His ideals and morals are even similar. His will is strong enough that in moments of peak stress and desire, Izuku overrides Venom’s instincts and will on accident. Even subconsciously, without knowing OFA was sentient, Izuku tried not to do this because his drive to protect and lift others up wouldn’t let him take over Venom on purpose.
Venom is lonely and has been lonely for centuries since he separated from Eddie to protect him. Eddie was already too big of a target without getting AFO after him. He nudges All Might towards “gifting” the “quirk” to Izuku.
Because of AFO and Symbiotes still being coveted or reviled by some humans, Venom sank into obscurity and became just a weird mutation. A quirk among many awakening in humanity during the height of his activity on earth. No other users knew he was sentient, except for AFO and Banjo. AFO is Venom’s red offspring, who bonded to a young, charismatic, and power-hungery sociopath with an SS class mutant (xman) power (like Cassidy but worse). AFO tried bonding Venom to AFO’s brother as a form of trying to control both Yoichi and Venom but the compatibility was low and Yoichi’s health was already too frail for Venom to help.
Banjo was similar enough to Eddie that Venom slipped up and talked to him. The vigilante promised to keep the secret in exchange for Venom protecting his family from AFO after his death. Banjo helped fabricate the sanitized version of One For All and All For One when he passed Venom to En. Nana received the sanitized version of OFA’s history through En, and passed it to Toshinori.
Using Venom’s DNA from Eddie, AFO and his symbiote reverse-engineer nomu and create a fake hive mind. Eddie was captured by AFO shortly after he and Venom split for good to protect each other. Eddie was shoved into stasis so they could harvest from him without risking him getting out or Venom being alerted (symbiotes can sense when previous hosts die through time and space). The black nomu are symbiotes but AFO uses sound to control them (anime), where torture and persuasion don’t work to get them onto his leash. It's why nomu are weak to fire, like Hood and the white ones to Hellfire. It's why Tomura trusts Dabi to handle them, out of everyone in the League - Dabi has blue fire at his fingertips if the sound-control fails and a nomu gets loose. Tomura doesn’t know about Rive, Venom, OFA, or symbiotes, but AFO impressed on him that sound disruptions make nomu unstable, so they need a handler unless pure destruction is the intent (like Hosu).
As a joke, Venom adds rabbit ears to his form when he takes over Izuku, because he thinks Izuku's costume hood tribute to All Might looks like bunny ears. This leads to rumors that All Might’s shadow is a cryptid villain called All Bite.
Unknown to anyone but UA staff in CUYS canon, Hitoshi is an orphan from a villain attack. His parents were killed when he was twelve. Quirkism was traumatizing even before becoming an orphan in a group home. He aged out of the system and affords UA and his decrepit studio apartment due to government grants.
Touya ‘dies’ at Sekoto Peak. Touya’s spectacular visual display drew attention from local AFO supporters who were assigned to watch Endeavor. They grabbed Endeavor’s eldest son and gave him to AFO. AFO gave Touya to Dr. Garaki to study because of his weird physiology and X-Factor conflict. 4 years later: Touya wakes up in an AFO sponsored ‘orphaned child care’ facility (like the ‘villain factories’). Subtle brainwashing tactics fail and he burns the facility to the ground in an emotional display of self-preservation. It kills all the other children in the facility - unknown to Touya. Touya, confused and not realizing what’s happened, stumbles home. He feels remorse, he just wants his family - he’s scared. But when he arrives home, he finds his bedroom gone and his family moved on like he never existed. Touya’s slow realization that the world and his own body moved on without his knowledge is at odds with his physical age and deformities, making his already tenuous mental health snap. He conflates his family moving on with a lack of care. Bitter, he tries to learn how to navigate the world as a 13 year old in a 17 year old’s body, physically disfigured and in chronic pain, and with no support. He eventually renames himself Dabi to try fitting in with underworld contacts for jobs to survive. Unknown to either of them, he and Hitoshi move into the same apartment building as neighbors around the same time Hitoshi, Shoto, and Izuku get into UA. He's 4B.
Later (not written yet), when Eddie and Venom are reunited, Izuku, while with Venom, starts crying and calls Eddie “my Eddie”. His symbiosis and empathy made him love Eddie too. Eddie is confused because he doesn't know Izuku but he's touched. He tells Izuku that Izuku is not Eddie or Venom - trying to gently help him distance and ground himself. Venom says “We are us” or something else creepy sweet. Eddie joins UA as a TA to recover and reintegrate with modern society. Venom shares the Japanese language with Eddie via symbiosis memory sharing.

Dark Shadow is a fragment of the Abyss . Not symbiote, but sentient null-energy . It took bird shape upon arriving to earth because avian forms are archetypes of freedom, vigilance, and omens. It mimics the host’s mind, manifesting what Tokoyami feared (darkness) and needed (protection).
“Dark Shadow heard a hymn with no words. It told him to kneel. So he screamed instead.” maybe forest camp.
Scream into the Void
Stare into the Abyss.
Screaming into the Abyss hurts the symbiotes. Don’t confuse the two.
(Mostly joking. Or am I? Present Mic is Void Beast confirmed? “I once screamed so loud I blacked out and woke up speaking in runes. Never drank that much again.”)
Most quirks = natural human evolution.
But a small, critical percentage = external entities hitching a ride on a trend.
Anti Venom is stupid. I'm ignoring it.
Venom needs fresh meat, but he keeps eating the cooked meat Shoto brings him because he doesn’t want to distress Izuku over minor things. He’ll just hunt and eat later.
OFA’s lightning is from Izuku accidentally tapping into Venom’s abilities without being able to properly channel them. Basically he’s overclocking himself, and that creates visual disturbances as his nerves struggle to fire fast enough to keep up. This goes away the more they sync and reach full symbiosis, but comes back when they argue or disagree during a fight. Eddie’s fevers and excessive adrenaline sweats are a similar expression of this, just different physiology/biology/DNA.
Mineta doesn’t exist. Thanos snapped him out of existence or something.
No dorms yet. They might not appear in CUYS since everyone at UA is an adult. But we’ll see what later arcs lead to.
Major Venom Hosts:
- Peter Parker (Ignorant at first. Danger Sense+Agility)
- Eddie (Ignorant at first. Perfect compatibility. empathy, loyalty [movie Eddie], people skills)
- Flash Thompson (Semi-Knowledgable. Formal combat training, discipline)
- Malekith (Knowledgeable. Tortured and force-bonded - caused trauma. Imprinted cruelty/sadism/control issues)
- Banjo (Ignorant at first. Treated Venom with compassion and helped him hide/recover a little from Malekith. Passed fake OFA story to En to protect Venom)
- En (ignorant, Venom went dormant until he had to jump to Nana.)
- Nana (ignorant, but Venom liked her)
- Toshinori (ignorant, Venom dislikes him because of his idealistic lies, hypocrisy, and resistance to reason)
- Izuku (Ignorant at first. First truly compatible host since Eddie. Deeply empathetic, thoughtful, and determined)
Venom had other shorter lived or inconsequential hosts in between major bonds. After Malekith, and being hunted by AFO/Rive, when Venom accidentally talked to Banjo Venom asked for help concealing what he is from future hosts.
This isn’t uncommon in heroics, it’s just not publicized.
Venom strongly resists psychic attacks and intrusions. It's why Izuku broke out of brainwashing in the sports festival. Venom was protecting him. Like he resisted Prof X and others.
Katsuki eventually grew out of attacking Izuku because he realizes age 14+ can be tried as adults for assault/murder in Japan, but he falls back on bad habits when he gets in a nasty mood or genuinely feels threatened by Izuku. In high school, he told Izuku to take a swan dive off the roof and burned his shoulders + notebook, same as canon just older timeline.
In later arcs, Deternat catches wind of the Hosu city coverup and sends Chitose to sniff out the truth - and whether or not Izuku and Shoto are recruitable for the MLA. Calls back to Aizawa warning them about the media in the hospital post-Stain.
Izuku understands why Iida went after Stain in Hosu - but he doesn’t forgive him because Iida’s revenge-tainted drive put others in danger (of course, Izuku doesn’t count himself in this number, but Shoto is). Izuku also won’t forgive him because instead of helping civilians escape the nomu, Iida chose to hunt a villain who wasn’t contextually relevant, to the harm of others. This is mirrored by Shoto commenting that Endeavor only saw the villains when he arrived at the alley.
The use of Koichi for AFO’s real name is ironic on my part (because of the Vigilantes MC name). It's also to rhythmically mirror 'Yoichi'. That's probably why Horikoshi used it in Vigilantes - it's another 'pure first one' symbolism. But AFO twisted it into delusions of godhood. Koichi the vigilante isn’t related to AFO at all.
Toga and Monoma are descended from AFO’s genetics, and kept elements of his quirk through the generations. Might not be relevant, just headcanon.
My head canon is that Aldera is a villain factory. That's why it's almost cartoonish how they treat Izuku and presumably others. Maybe that's why Tomura targeted Katsuki as villain material instead of anyone else.
The apprehension test follows manga - Aizawa never erased Izuku's quirk or threatened to expel anyone. Izuku broke his arm during the ball throw and Aizawa lectured him. In the manga I don’t think Aizawa has ever erased OFA - Venom wouldn’t be confirmed or denied susceptible to Erasure. Aizawa’s eyes are red like the anime when he uses his quirk because I love feral!cryptid!Aizawa stories and red fits that better.
Tomura resents AFO and routinely calls him out when his plans fail - like the USJ/nomu failure (shot by Snipe), meeting Stain for recruitment (got Tomura stabbed), Kamino Ward (got the League injured and scattered), etc. AFO gaslights him every time. By Tomura’s reactions, it’s safe to assume he’s not ignorant to the manipulation. He doesn’t remember his early childhood before AFO - he also doesn’t consciously remember AFO’s torture and conditioning when he was first “rescued”. During the mall scene, in canon he tells Izuku that he doesn’t want to fight, but next time they meet they might be enemies.
Inko loves Izuku, but she sees quirklessness as a disease/disability (“What’s wrong with him, doctor?” “I’m sorry” (to young Izuku, instead of comforting him)). The social and financial pressure, especially now that Izuku is 18, is wearing her down. She’s trying, but she can’t understand Izuku enough to connect.
Could a symbiote spawn from Izuku’s tears? Canon implied it’s any bodily fluid… >.> Including white symbiotes. Maybe Izuku spawns a blue/pearly symbiote during emotions and it bonds to someone plot relevant at the time. It could be anti-venom coded but not stupid.
