Retired/Hunted/Gone

Summary:

The girls love their Bobby. Ever the loyal manager, he’s their rock. Whether it's braiding hair before shows, shielding them from the network, or making late-night ramen runs with a smile. To them, Bobby’s more than a manager: he’s family. So when they rally their fandom to crown him K-Pop Manager of the Year, it’s the least they can do.

But the spotlight changes everything and suddenly, Bobby isn’t the same.

Flinching at strange noises and always looking over his shoulder. He's pale, paranoid, constantly watching the shadows. Bobby insists he’s fine, but his eyes and actions say otherwise. Soon, whispers begin to swirl about a secret past - before Bobby was their manager, before the backstage passes and snack runs. Bobby was someone else. Someone famous. But when Bobby vanishes without a trace and they dig deeper into his mysterious past, they realize Bobby wasn’t just running from something… he was being hunted.

Chapter 1: Operation Bobby

Chapter Text

Bobby Choi was extremely proud of his girls. A record breaking world tour. Golden smashing every expectation. Takedown becoming an underground hit! And that surprise breakup and reunion concert all in one night?

Amazing.

Astounding.

GENIUS!

God, his girls were geniuses. There was no other way to describe it. Everything that they did was brilliant and the social media numbers proved it. Huntrix was cemented into the K-Pop Hall of Fame. He was so proud. Incredibly proud of them and….he was a little tired. The rise and fall of the Saja Boys, Golden going on and off without warning, and the tension of the Idol Awards had left him exhausted. And, as it stood to reason, if he was exhausted then his girls were totally exhausted. He couldn’t stand to see his girls exhausted or in distress. They would be relaxed and happy if it was the last thing that he would do.

“Let me hear you say it ‘Best and most exclusive spa in the country”, he tried to petition them to go. “Look! The bathhouse! The spa! The unlimited room service! The lack of cell service! You’ll be pampered to your heart’s content.”

Zoey, Mira, and Rumi exchanged glances on their pristine couch. They weren’t sold on the idea. “But we have couch!” Zoey hugged the loveseat.

“And we wanna watch tv,” Mira pointed out.

“And our bathhouse is private,” Rumi smiled, her arms fully exposed.

“Are you sure you guys don’t wanna go?” he asked.

“You should go Bobby,” Mira insisted.

“For real this time,” Rumi added. “I promise that no singles will be released. You should go!”

Bobby shook his head. “No, no, no…are you sure?”

“Yes, Bobby,” The girls chorused.

“And everything here will be okay?” he asked.

“Without a doubt,” Mira nodded.

“We’ve got everything under control,” Rumi beamed.

“And you’ll all be fine? Everything is okay?” He didn’t realize how much he was holding in his breath. The tension between the girls had seemed extreme over the last few days, but now the waters appeared to be calm. He hoped that it would last. “We’re okay?”

“We’re fine!” Mira stated.

“Never better!” Zoey laughed.

“Closer than ever!” Rumi hugged her bandmates. “Nothing can stop us!”

“NOTHING!” Zoey and Mira roared.

Jumping to her feet, Rumi all but pushed Bobby out the door. “You should go - take a break on our behalf. You won’t have to deal with us-”

“I love dealing with you,” Bobby protested.

“You won’t have to look at your phone all the time,” Zoey pointed out.

“So my screen time may be excessive…”

“Take a social media detox break, Bobby,” Mira sagely nodded. “We can handle things on our end.”

Bobby stopped short of the elevator door. He turned quickly and asked his three favorite people in the world, “Are you sure? I won’t be able to get in contact unless it’s an emergency.”

“We’re sure Bobby,” again the girls chorused.

Taking a deep breath, Bobby bravely nodded. “Alright, I’ll go…for you, I’ll put the phone down. I’ll see you in one month…But don’t be afraid to call if there’s an emergency or if-”

“Bye Bobby!” the girls practically sang as they shoved him into the elevator.

Rumi, Mira, and Zoey waited until they were sure that Bobby was truly out of the building. Rumi turned on her heels and faced her friends. “Are we ready to do this?”

Operation Bobby was underway.
