Chapter 1: Arriving at camp

Chapter Text

Percy and Annabeth had decided that they wanted to spend the summer before they start college, at camp. And if Percy were being honest, he was a bit worried about going to camp again.

It had been a while since he spent a whole summer there, and he has hoping that nothing went wrong. All he wanted was ONE summer. No wars, No Quests, No Prophecies.

He tried to push all of the dark thought to the back of his mind.

Right now, he was standing at the top of Halfblood hill, his back turned to the pine tree that still thrived on top of it.

he looked over the hill, and saw that the pine tree wasn’t the only thing that was thriving.

He could see campers running around, laughing and having fun. Though it was still early in the summer, so it was still only year rounders and senior campers (Like him and Annabeth) that Chiron had asks to help out this summer, do tho the influx of new campers.

He let his eyes wonder and found, off to the side, under the shade of a tree was Hermes, Travis and Connor having a conversation—

Wait.

He did a double take. Why in Zeus’s name was Hermes here?

Before he could wonder more on the potential causes for Hermes presents, he felt fingers intertwine with his own. He turned his head to find Annabeth smiling softly at him.

Her hair blew in the breeze and caught on rays of sunlight, making is look a soft gold. It had grown out a lot over the past year, now reaching down below her shoulder blades. She also had stoped straightening it, so it was all frizzy and curly. And though, Percy didn’t actually care what Annabeth did with her hair, he thinks he liked it frizzy and curly the most.

Annabeth squeezed his hand, drawing him out of his thoughts. "Well? You ready?" She had her duffle bag slung over her shoulder and her dagger on her hip (Tyson had made her a new one, A better one, and gave it to her as a super early birthday present)

Percy smiled brightly at her "You know it!" Then he shifted his eyes back onto Hermes. "But it looks like we have a visitor…"

Annabeth followed his gaze, also finding the God talking to his sons.

"Whether it’s a good visitor or a bad visitor… to be determined" He continued

Her brows furrowed "Why would he be here?" Percy shrugged. "Could he be giving a quest?"

He shrugged again "Only one way to find out." And he started walking toward the God and his sons, hearing Annabeth follow.

As the couple approached, Hermes eyes found Percy’s and then shifted to Annabeth, and the god grinned.

"Percy! Annabeth! Pleasure as always." The God greeted

"Lord Hermes." Annabeth nodded her head in greeting while Percy gave a weak wave.  "Pleasure ours."

"Just Hermes is fine!" Hermes waved of.

"You guys are not gunna believe what happened!" Connor said, with a toothy smile.

"What happened? Nothing bad, right?" Percy asked, his nerves coming back despite Connor’s smile.

Travis’s eyes caught his, and he gave him a reassuring smile. "No nothing bad. Actually I would consider this a good thing-"

He was cut off by someone clearing their throat.

They all turned their head and saw Mr D standing there. "I think it might be smart to inform all of the senior campers, before we go around camp shouting news that is not fully public yet." He said, in a neutral tone.

"Oh come on Dionysus, don’t ruin all the fun." Hermes complained.

"I’m not ruining the fun. I just think it might be smart to explain- in privet-  what happened last night to the senior campers fist. So we don’t overwhelm the Demigods." Mr D said, giving Hermes a look.

So they don’t overwhelm the Demigods? Percy thought

The messenger sighed "Fine. I suppose I’ll join you."

"Wait what happened?" Percy asked, now worried, though he tried not to show it on his face "Travis said it was nothing bad."

Mr D must have been able to see the worry on Percy’s face because he immediately spoke up. "It’s not bad. It’s just… a change. A big one. And I think it’ll be better to discuss it with the seniors campers before we announce it." Though he said it flatly, Percy could tell he was trying to reassure him (it didn’t work)

"Want me to grab the Head Counselors?" Annabeth asked, she looked just as worried as Percy felt.

Mr.D Shook his head "No, just the senior campers. The veterans… the leaders- You know," He sighed  "the ones you’ve made a group chat with." He turned around to go back to the big house with Hermes on his heals.

How did Mr D know about the group chat?

Leo had figured out how to make phones that were safe for demigods (With the Help of Hazel, and some mist magic) and gave the phones to a select few of demigods. And the Demigods that had been given phones, had made a group chat. And though it went unsaid, everybody who was in the group chat was a leader at camp halfblood. Even if they weren’t a head counselor.

Katie and Travis had jokingly named it 'The Camp Protection squad' After Jason had complained about having to save two younger campers who wondered out of the borders.

And the name stuck, mainly because everyone that was in the group chat are Protectors of camp half

the group chat consisted of:

Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase, Leo Valdez, Jason Grace, Piper McLean, Connor and Travis Stoll, Katie Gardner, Nico D’Angelo, Will Solace, Clarisse La’Rue, Pollux Slade, Malcom Pace, Rachael Dare, and Thalia Grace.

A mismatch group of people when you look at it at face value, but they are all leaders in their own right.

But Percy was still stuck on the question of how did Mr. D know about the group chat?

Travis decided to say what he had been thinking "How the hell dose Mr D know about the group chat?"

”I have no clue. It’s not like we talk about it" Connor shrugged

"I mean… we weren’t hiding it. But like…" Travis inhaled "HE KNOWS ABOUT THE GROUP CHAT" he hissed dramatically.

Percy snorted

"I mean he’s a god, so it doesn’t surprise me that he knows." Annabeth cut in. "Let’s just do what he said"

Percy was already pulling out his phone.

As he pulled it out, he realized this was the first time that they were useing the chat for actual camp business.

He sighed and started typing

Chapter Text

After they all where in the room with the new round table, (don’t ask what happened to the old ping pong table) Everybody kinda went into their own social circles to catch up. Don’t get him wrong, they were all close, and he was sure they would all be hanging out together soon, but for now, everyone was spit into their own groups.

The catching up didn’t last long though, because soon enough, Mr.D, Hermes, and Chiron entered the room.

And trailing behind them was, surprisingly (or unsurprisingly) Apollo.

Percy made eye contact with Annabeth, who was in conversation with Piper and Clarisse across the room, then he locked eyes with Nico and Will, who where both standing to his right, they all looked just as confused as he felt.

But scanning over all the people in the room, he could tell they were all on a similar train of thought. Three gods and Chiron, this outta be good, he thought.

They all took a seat at the round table, going around the table you had, Percy, and to his right Annabeth, then Clarisse, then Piper, Leo, and Jason, then Malcom, Connor, Travis, and Katie, then Rachel.

Apollo ended up taking the seat Next to Rachel. Then to Percy’s left you had, Nico and Will, Then Pollux and Mr.D, Then Chiron and Hermes.

"Is everyone ready to start this meeting?" Chiron asked After everyone had sat down.

All the chatter quickly quieted down.

"Good. Lord Apollo, if you could please explain why you have called us all here this morning."

Oh, so it was Apollo who had them all called to the big house. Percy looked at Will, and almost snorted when he saw how nervous he was. Will face basically said 'oh gods, of course it’s my dad. Good for me!'

He saw Nico grab Will’s hand under the table, and resisted the urge to smile.

They were good together.

He was drawn out of his thoughts by Apollo clearing his throat. "So, I’m just gunna get straight into it." He paused "if you have questions during this, which you will, please wait till after I tell guys what happened. Write the questions down or something, because I do want to answer any questions you might have."

people looked confused. But most ended up reaching for the stack of construction paper in the center of the table.

Annabeth snatched a light blue peace of paper from the pile, and put it between them to share, then handed him a pencil.

He smiled at her in thanks.

Then Apollo began speaking again. "So last night, the Olympians had a meeting. It was mainly normal stuff, until someone- Cough- Zeus- Cough-"

Percy, Jason, and Nico all let out surprise laughs at Apollo saying 'Cough' instead of actually coughing. And for some reason Hermes and Apollo seemed to be pleased at the three boys laughter.

"- Until someone found an issue with some nymphs starting a little rebellion, and honestly, it wasn’t even a rebellion. It was a protest that was starting to get a little violet. And it wouldn’t have been hard to just deal with it himself, all they wanted was some better pay-"

"Apollo you’re rambling" Hermes cut in.

"Right! Sorry" Apollo continued "He could have just gave them better pay, or sent one of us to deal with it, but no! He thought it would be a great idea, to give a quest to some random Demigods to deal with it for him. And I was like 'Fuck that' and told him, he wasn’t going to do that."

What? Apollo… stood up for the Dimigods? Kept them from having to go on yet another quest? Percy knew that, Apollo’s time as Lester had changed him for the better. But standing up to Zeus, for them?

Looking around the room he could see the surprise on every everybody’s faces. Except for Jason and Will, who both looked proud.

"And that ended up with us arguing, and I’ll save you the details of that, but I kinda just…" he sighed in despair, "… kept talking."

"He basically went on a whole rant about how, the Gods should be able to help their kids when they need it. And that, he knew most of the gods agreed with him about wanting to be able to interact with their children, and be actual Parents to them." Mr.D cut in.

What?

The gods wanted to be parents to the Demigods…

And from the sounds of it they couldn’t, because of the ancient laws that forbid it.

Hermes spoke up "And most of us agreed, that we do want to be involved parents, in our kids lives."

"And so," Apollo inhaled "I demanded that the laws that keep us interacting with our kids, be abolished."

He saw Annabeth writhing something down on their shared paper, but didn’t look at what she had wrote, too shocked at what Apollo had done.

Looking around the room, he wasn’t the only one who was shocked. Nico’s eye’s were wide, and across from him Connor and Travis were outright gaping. Malcom and Katie were frozen in shock.

Surprisingly, Clarisse was the next to speak. "So the laws… were abolished..?" She seemed confected. Which made since, she had a very… complicated relationship with her father, Ares.

Apollo nodded.

There was a pause. Everyone was taking it in. Their godly parents can now be parents… something that Percy has been fighting for almost SIX YEARS.

"So here’s what’s gunna happen." Apollo broke the silence with ease "A lot of us just wanted to just show up all of a sudden, and barge in are your life’s. But Dionysus said, that would probably overwhelm you guys and drive you away."

Percy’s eyes snapped to Mr.D, wondering why he would say that?

The god met his gaze head on "am I wrong?" He asked. "All of you demigods are used to us being absent, and frankly, assholes to you. If we all just showed up saying we wanted to be parents, giving you no time to adjust, it would scared the shit outta you. You guys were nervous when just us three said we wanted to talk with you. You’re all uncomfortable with Gods around, don’t deny it."

As Percy thought about it, he realized that Mr.D was right. It would scare the shit out of them. And it seemed everyone else agreed. So he backed down.

"That’s why I wanted to explain to you guys what happened first. That way, you guys could tell the rest of camp." Apollo explained

"Why tell us first? Why not just tell the whole camp? It affects us all." Katie asked.

"Because it’s clear to me that this group of Demigods are the unspoken leaders of camp. If Chiron or, one of the gods were to announce this, Camp would become panicked, because it’s a change that no one expected." Mr.D said. "And, Camp Halfblood doesn’t trust the gods. " He added.

"Which is understandable" Hermes cut in.

"Gee Mr.D I didn’t know that you cared." Percy said teasingly.

He was ignored.

There was another moment of silence, no one sure of what to say. Then Apollo spoke up "So… Questions?"

Annabeth Raised her hand "Yeah, I’ve got one. Aren’t the laws preventing the gods from interacting with their children, ancient laws? Because I thought that the ancient laws were put in place by the Moirai and couldn’t be broken."

Apollo sighed "So yes and no. The ancient law put in place by the Moirai only states that the gods are forbidden from directly interfering while a demigod is on an official quest. The law that I had abolished was put into place by the God-king right after the big three swore their oath to never have children again."

"So you still can’t interfere while we’re on a quest?" Annabeth asked

"That’s correct. We cannot interfere if you’re on a prophesied quest. But if it’s just like, a god told you to go and do this thing, we can interfere because it’s technically not a prophesied quest" Apollo explained.

Annabeth nodded. Then Piper raised her hand and spoke "You said that most of the gods wanted to be involved parents, right? Then why didn’t they push back on the law when the vote was passed in the first place?"

"Fear." Hermes answered swiftly  "Mr Zappy up there had us all convinced that demigods were going to overthrow Olympus, so we kinda just… didn’t question it. Which was stupid"

Percy felt his hatred for the king of the gods grow.

Nico raised his hand then. "What was the vote for the law to be abolished? Who opposed it?" Who do we need to be extra wary of, Percy heard the unspoken question loud and clear.

Apollo must have heard it too, because he gave a soft smile "Unanimous."

Jason coughed "I’m sorry, did you just say it was a UNANIMOUS yes?"

The gods in the room nodded

"Has that ever happened before?" Jason asked, shocked

"I think, one or two times if I remember correctly" Apollo thought

"Even Hera and Zeus voted yes" Mr.D said

"Dam"

There was another moment of silence. Then,

"So, what changes?" Leo asked.

Mr.D inhaled "Well first off, we would like it if you guys, in your own words, could tell Camp what happened." He said

"Then after that" Hermes cut in "Expect to see us around here a lot more often."

"I do Believe that we have covered everything." Mr.D said. "Now you, can just…" he sighed, and waved his hand around "do… what you normally do."

"Nothing at camp should change to much, at least for the first part of the summer." Chiron Spoke up "for now, just start setting up for the beginning of summer. It starts on June 1st, so you have 8 days. And I want to thank you all for coming early to help with the expected influx of new demigods"

The all muttered 'of course’ and 'Happy to help’ but where mainly thinking over the three gods words.

They all just sat there in silence for around 2 minute. It was then that Percy realized that,

oh they were waiting on him to say something.

He sighed "This is a lot of change to take in." He began softly, Attempting to soothe everybody’s racing thoughts. "For now, I think that we should continue on. There’s a lot to be done in the coming week. The only thing that truly changes, is that our parents are going to be around and, possibly more involved. And honestly, I think it will be good thing ." He finished

"When do you want to Let camp know?" Clarisse asked

Annabeth spoke up "I say we include it announcements on the first official day of camp. You guys can tell your cabin mates tonight if you want, but I don’t think there’s a need to do an announcement until most campers are here. It’s just a year rounders right now anyway"

Everybody collectedly nodded.

It was then that Travis spoke up "if the plan is to just continue on how we normally would, we should probably go ahead and divvy out tasks for the week" he said, easily changing the subject

Will let out a chuckle "just like old times." He inhaled, much like his father had been doing a lot during this conversation "All right, infirmary needs to be restocked, if we really are going to a bunch of new demigods they’re gonna get themselves hurt one way or another…"

They moved on from the bombshell that Apollo had dropped on them and began discussing prorations for the beginning of the summer. At some point in their discussion Hermes and Apollo left. They had said that they were going to go fill in the rest of the olympians, on the plan to let camp know what happened, in 8 days, and to hold back on randomly showing up until then.

Afterword Percy kissed Annabeth, and went to the canoe shed, to make sure none of the canoes needed repairs. Right now he was just gonna try and focus on getting ready for the summer.

Notes:

I’m going to try and post 1 chapter a day. We’ll see how long I’ll be able to keep it up.
If I stop being able to keep up with it, I will either switch to 1 every 2 days, or once a week.

(Also if you want to know what happened to the old ping-pong table, let me know and I’ll write a short one-shot about it :D)

Chapter 3: Custody Agreement

Summary:

For the record… Percy didn’t scream. He came close, but didn’t. He did, however, let out a very high pitch gasp.

Chapter Text

Percy was tired.

He had woken up early to get to camp, then he had to deal with the emotional roller coaster of finding the gods were going to try and be parents (as if Percy didn’t have enough gods in life) and dealing with the questions that come with that.

So he was ready to sleep for the next 12 hours.

Though he knew he would get lucky if he got 5 hours. Nightmares

So you can’t blame him for not noticing that God in his cabin.

He entered cabin 3, and went straight to his bed. He sat down and began taking off his shoes.

"You seem tired"

For the record… Percy didn’t scream. He came close, but didn’t. He did, however, let out a very high pitch gasp.

Instinctively, he stood up, his hand went to his pocket, where he knew Riptide was. He snapped his head in the direction of the voice, and was shocked to be met with the face of his Father, Poseidon.

"Father!" Percy greeted in surprise "What are you doing here?" He asked, he relaxed, but not completely.

In the back of his mind he could hear Annabeth telling him to be more respectful, but he was too tired to care right now. Besides, this was his dad.  The chances of him getting smote by his dad were slim to none.

His father gave him a soft smile "I wanted to check on you." He began "And to speak to you."

Uh oh.

"Okay… what did you want to talk about?" He asked, deciding to ignore the fact that his father wanted to check on him.

Even with the laws abolished he just didn’t expect that his dad would immediately show up to check on him. Just a check in… it was weird. He didn’t know how to feel about it yet.

His Father Chuckled softly. "Straight to the point as always." He sighed.

He summand a chair and sat down.

Percy followed suit and sat on his bed.

"I am sure that you have heard that the laws keeping me from interacting with you have been abolished." He nodded "And I was thinking that maybe you could spend some more time with your godly siblings and me, in Atlantis."

Percy Blinked. "What?" He asked, because What. "You want me to come to Atlantis?" His father nodded "When? What?"

"Well, I was thinking that you could come down for a couple days a week, and then come back to the surface." He explained

And Percy had to hold back from laughing. "Like a split custody thing..?" he asked, because he couldn’t help it.

His father’s eyes wrinkled in thought "I suppose if that’s how you want to look at it, Yes." Then added on "of course you’re welcome in Atlantis anytime you want to be there. But…" he sighed "I would like to… spend more time with you. Get to know you better… Maybe…" He cut himself off with a sigh.

Why would his dad want to spend more time with him? He never has said he wanted to do that before

Because he couldn’t before. A voice whispered in his mind.

"Percy… What do you think. Do you… want to come to Atlantis?" His father asked.

It seemed like Poseidon was trying to get a read on Percy, but couldn’t.

Percy… was conflicted. He desperately wanted to see Atlantis in its entirety, that’s something he’s wanted since he first heard of the kingdom. He also… against his better judgment, wanted to know his dad. Wanted to know what was behind the powerful Lord of the seas.

He was scared, but he would never admit it. He was scared that something was going to go wrong with the gods interacting with their children- because something always went wrong when Gods were around.

But another part of Percy really wanted his father around. Wanted to know him. And it was weird because he never had the opportunity till now.

And his Father also said something about meeting his godly siblings.

If he remembered correctly those where,

Triton, Who he had met in passing.

Rhode, who he hadn’t met, but had heard of (he did some research on his godly family after the giant war).

Benthesikyme, who he had also only heard of.

And Kymopoleia, who we had met about a year ago.

( fourth wall break: I know my timing is off, it’s fineeeeee lol)

Then there was also Poseidon’s wife, Amphitrite, who Percy had also met in passing.

Wouldn’t Amphitrite hate him? He was proof that her husband had cheated on her.

He sighed. Deciding he should probably respond to his father’s question. "I… I do want to come to Atlantis… But, I wouldn’t want to be a bother. Also, how would your wife feel about me staying in Atlantis for a few days a week?"

Poseidon seem to light up at the fact that Percy wanted to come to Atlantis, but then registered the the question, and softened "Amphitrite has never held any ill will toward my demigod children for my infidelity. She understands that we are gods, and she can’t stop my affairs. But she also understands that she is my forever. "

"So… me being there won’t be an issue with your wife?" He asked

His father shook his head.

"Do your godly children care if I’m there?" He asked

At this Poseidon face soured, and Percy’s heart dropped.

"My son Triton… he wasn’t particularly thrilled when I told him. And Rhode, though she is only at home half the time, is curious about you. I believe she is saving judgment until she meets you. Benthesikyme, doesn’t particularly care if you are around or not, but that is mainly because she doesn’t live at my palace. And Kymopoleia is also only at home half the time but, she seemed… excited." The sea god Explained.

Percy nodded "Kym being excited makes since. I met her in the Aegean Sea, she was causing a hurricane and it was blocking our path, so I dived in the ocean to talk to her and we ended up getting along decently." He paused "At least, we got along after she stoped trying to kill me" the Demigod said

"Ah, well that explains her excitement" Poseidon said. "But I promise you, none of your sibling will cause you trouble while you are in Atlantis. They know better then that"

His tone went into what Percy could only describe as, that tone his mother gets when she’s telling him not to do something he knows better than to do.

"Okay then. Um, When do you want me to start staying with you?" He asked "Oh! Also, can we start this little 'custody arrangement' After summer starts? I need to help get camp ready, and help the new campers settle in."

His father nodded.

They went onto figure out when Percy would be coming to Atlantis. They ended up settling on Thursdays though Saturdays Percy would stay in Atlantis, and of course anytime Percy wants to come to Atlantis aside from then, he was welcome.

His first trip would be June 6th, Six days after camp officially started.

His father left his cabin after that. And surprisingly, when Percy slept that night, he had no nightmares.

Notes:

I posted what happened to the ping pong table! It’s called 'Candy wars'

Chapter 4: Concerns and feelings

Summary:

"When I started spending time with my dad, I was terrified. I didn’t know anything about him and he knew nothing about me." She smiled then, a soft smile. Remembering "But he tried… and that was enough for me."

Percy woke up to his phone buzzing like crazy.

He rolled over in bed, groaning as he reached for his phone.

8:36 AM.

He groaned again. But he actually felt fairly rested. He went to sleep pretty early and had no nightmares, which was a nice change of pace.

His eyes shifted farther down his phone screen and saw:

' ~THE CAMP PROTECTION SQUAD~ (12 notifications)'

He sighed and opened his phone to see what was going on.

The.color.blue (Percy): you love it. Just like you love usss

Ghost_king (Nico): please both of you stfu

Percy would never say it out loud, but he put the day Thalia was supposed to arrive in his calendar. 25 days. It had been so long since he had seen Thalia and as much as he loath to admit it, he was really excited to see her.

His thoughts were interrupted by a knock on his cabin door.

He made his way to the door and saw Annabeth. "Hey." She greeted him with a smile. "I was about to walk the boarder of camp to check for week spots with Lou and Nico. You want to come?"

He smiled "Yeah sure! Let me get dressed"

He turned around and ran to get his clothes on. He put on his Camp t-shirt with some worn out blue jeans, then put on his black combat boots. Normally,  he would wear his blue tennis shoes, but since they’re going into the woods, he decided boots. Then he grabbed a hair tie from the door knob and put it on his wrist.

He had gotten into the habit of doing that because Annabeth had started to teach him how to french braid hair, and would just randomly have him braid her hair throughout the day.

But now he keeps it for his own hair, it had gotten longer. Not like shoulder length, but long enough where it was against his neck and he sometimes wanted to put it in a ponytail. Though it was more like a stub at the back of his head rather than a ponytail.

He liked it at this length. Shaggy but not as shaggy as Nico’s. Short but not as short as Thalia’s.

After he got dressed he put is phone in his pocket and made his way to the arena. Which was the designated meeting spot for camp boarder walks

They had started doing camp boarder walks right after the giant war, because the kids in cabin 20 had noticed weak spots where some small monsters may be able to slip through the cracks.

It was nothing alarming or abnormal, but something to keep an eye on.

He made it to the arena quickly, and saw Nico, Lou, and Annabeth.

"Hey" he greeted as he jogged up to them. "Ready to go?”

"Yep! We are just gunna walk the west side for now. We’re gonna start at the meeting grove and make our way to the Western Strawberry Fields then we are gunna double back and hopefully be back in time for lunch" Annabeth said

Nico nodded "Yeah, I thought I sensed some undead this morning but it disappeared pretty quickly. So it was probably nothing, but I thought it was worth checking out."

Lou nodded "Yep! So Nico will be looking for that, and I’ll be looking for weeks spots in the barrier. You guys our here in case we get attacked by a stray monster" she smiled

Percy smiled back "sounds good. Let’s get going"

The first hour of the trip went with very little problems, there were a couple of Dryads that were fighting, and they (unfortunately) had to deal with that. But after that, very little issue

"So." Annebeth started softly. They were both about 10 feet behind Nico and Lou. "Your gunna be staying at your dads a few day out of the week?"

He nodded "Yep. Thursday through Saturdays, starting on the 6th. He wanted me to do weekends, but I told him weekend were for hanging out with friends and you. Then he suggested Monday through Wednesday. But I have to teach sword fighting  classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays."

Annabeth nodded "Makes sense." Then she gave him a look, "You’re nervous." She noted

He rubbed the back of his neck "What gave it away?"

"You let Lou and I deal with the Dryads, typically you would do it. And you’ve been quieter than usual." She explained. then added "You’re lost in thought”

He sighed "I guess you right."

"It’s normal to be nervous." She said "When I started spending time with my dad, I was terrified. I didn’t know anything about him and he knew nothing about me." She smiled then, a soft smile. Remembering "But he tried… and that was enough for me."

"Do you think your mom will try" He asked, because he couldn’t help it. He knew Annabeth’s feeling on Athena, but still.

Like expected, His girlfriend’s smile faded. She thought for a moment before speaking "I… I think that she is trying to figure out how to approach it. The vote was unanimous, which means she wasn’t opposed too, maybe one day, trying to be an involved mother." She paused again, gathering her thoughts. "She won’t do anything in till she thinks it though."

Percy smiled "Sounds like someone else I know" he teased with a shit eating grin.

He earned an elbow to his side. And he started cackling.

After his laughs died down, they walked in silence for a moment longer. Then Annabeth spoke again "I’m not sure if I care."

He gave her a questioning look. Not sure if he understood.

She sighed "I don’t think I care if she tries to be my mother. I would be content if she decides she doesn’t  want to be involved. Especially after she gave me my solo quest and, what it caused…" she tailed off, shivering.

Percy found himself shivering to. That place was not something he wanting to think about right now.

"Of course, I would welcome it if she tired to be my mother! I just… can’t bring myself to care what she dose" she continued.

Percy nodded "I get it. That makes sense."

Annabeth gave him another smile "Alright, What about you seaweed brain. How do you feel about your dad being involved in your life?"

He thought for a moment. Tying to form coherent sentences from his conflicting emotions. "I don’t think I’m surprised. Out of all of our parents I think my dad was always one of the most involved, second to Nico’s dad" He paused, trying to get his thoughts in order "I think… I think, I’m more nervous about actually staying in the heart of his domain… Atlantis…"

Annabeth gave a low whistle "Yeah, that’s crazy. You gotta tell me about all the architecture down there" she said, dead serious.

Percy snorted "Of course! I’m wouldn’t dream about not telling you.” She giggled, and Gods above, Percy loved the sound. It made him so happy knowing that he was able to bring her joy. It gave him butterfly’s like he was 14 again.

He wanted to make her laugh again, but he knew the she wanted him to keep talking. Wanted to hear his worries, wanted to share the burden of them… He has no idea how he managed to get Annabeth Chase to love him.

He sighed and continued, deciding those were thoughts for another time.

"I think that I’m most nervous to meet my godly siblings and stepmother" He said.

Annabeth gasped "Oh my Gods, that’s right! you have a bunch of godly sibling. You have 4 right? Or was is 5?"

"Four. Three sisters and a brother." He smiled. "Points if you can name them. Bonus points if you can do it in age order"

Annabeth Grinned at him "Well, their ages aren’t specifically stated in any books I’ve read, the context clues point to, Lord Triton being the oldest because he is heir to the throne. Then Lady Rhode, is my guess for second oldest. Then Lady Benthesikyme, I’m going to put as second youngest, because Lady Kymopoleia has to be the youngest. She just, for lack of a better word, has youngest sister vibes." She explained

"Ding ding ding, you got all their names and, in age order. I’m impressed. But I will say that their ages are said in the book 'history of the royal family of Atlantis' that I let you borrow."

He’s dad had given it to him as a birthday present for his 17th. It was one of the few educational books Percy had read all the way through.

"Ah, that make sense. I haven’t gotten to that part yet, I had to put the book down because Malcom wanted me to read this book on the Helen of Sparta" she said

Percy was about to give a sassy quip about how Annabeth gets half way though a book, then immediately starts on a new one, but was cut off.

"Hey guys!" Nico shouted, Nico has made is way about 10 yards in front of them. "Stop flirting for a second and come look at this." He waved the couple over.

He and Annabeth shared a look. Nico’s tone made them both nervous.

As they approached he saw Annabeth rest a hand on her Drakon bone sword, and he rested a hand on Riptide.

When they got to the spot that Nico had called them to, they saw a pile of monster dust. And it wasn’t just a little… no, it was a lot.

"What the heck?" Annabeth questioned

"There’s also the faint trace on underworld here." Nico said.

"But that not the weird part" Lou spoke up.

Her eyes were closed and she was running her hands against somthing they couldn’t see. But he could see the faint hint of a purple glow on her finger tips, which is something Hazel’s hands did when she was casting spells, or sensing for magic.

"What’s the weird part?" He dared to asked.

Lou opened her eyes. "You might wanna back up a few feet" she said.

They all did as they were told and backed up about 7 feet. Then Lou lifted her hands above her head, and they glowed bight purple. She just kept them in the air for a bit, then she flicked her wrists so her palms were facing each other, and Percy saw a faint line of gold light run across the grass about 5 feet in front of her.

Then she brought her hands down and out.

Then a bright wall of transparent gold, like glass, was in front of them.

The magic barrier around camp, he realized.

But that wasn’t all. He knew in his gut that it should just be a wall of gold… but it wasn’t. Going though the barrier were dark mucky green cracks, that looked like a spider web

It was only in this section of the the barrier, but looked like it was spreading. Or maybe more like an infection? He didn’t know.

But what he did know is that this probably wasn’t a good thing.

Notes:

We love a good cliffhanger!!

I’ll try to have next chapter out by tomorrow, but no promises!

I decided to make a change right in the middle of the chapter, which means I have to basically rewrite the whole chapter . But I will try to have it done by tomorrow!!

Chapter 5: Scars

Summary:

There is no way. He thought. But then he kept on thinking… he could feel the color drain from his checks.

If she could hide us from monsters, who’s to say she can’t hide from other gods?

Chapter Text

"What happened to it?" Nico asked, stepping closer to the barrier.

Lou shrugged "I don’t know. But this is different to what a weak spot looks like. A weak spot is somthing that happens naturally, and typically looks like the gold has faded into more of a… red color. This… this looks like something is infecting it? Trying to shatter it? I don’t know." She said, looking extremely confused and concerned

"It feels wrong… like." Nico sighed "I can’t put into the words, the best I got is that it kinda feels like a dead life force, but also doesn’t at the some time" he sighed in defeat.

Lou hummed in thought "it more feels like… like something tried to brake it down, but failed. And now the Barrier is… I don’t know, healing itself?"

"Like a scar…" Percy said. "Like, Something tried to break down this section of the barrier, and now the barrier has a scar because of it."

"Yeah…" Lou thought "Yeah, I think you’re right. Because I don’t sense any weakness in this spot, it just feels like a scar. Something that happened, but didn’t cause any fatal damage"

Annabeth grabbed his wrist. She looked nervous. Her checks had paled a couple shades.

He grabbed her hand and squeezed it in comfort

"But what, or who, would try to brake the camp barrier?" Nico asked. "As far as I’m aware we don’t have any enemies right now."

"I’m gunna shoot a text out and tell someone to get Chiron" he said, pulling out his phone.

He quickly shot a text to the Camp Protection Squad, asking someone to grab Chiron and tell him to come here.

Katie said she would do it. So now they just had to wait until he showed up.

During their wait, Annabeth pulled him aside and whispered "Percy… the coloring, and the pattern…" she took a breath. "It looks like poison." She said, and there was no doubt in Percy mind that, she was scared.

He looked back at the scar on the barrier, and found that he had to agree. And the more he thought about, the more he started seeing the poison.

Poison.

Percy hated poison

The more he looked at the scar, and the more he thought about poison… the more he thought about her…

No. He told himself.

If he went down that train of thought, he would send himself into a panic attack.

Instead, he simply nodded, agreeing with Annabeth. "do you think someone tried to poison it?” He asked

"I don’t know how that would work… The Golden Fleece, healed Thalia‘s tree from poison, a nd the barrier…" she tailed off

"Actually, I don’t think I know how the barrier works anymore. Before it was the power of Thalia‘s tree, But Thalia is no longer in the tree. So is it just a normal pine tree now?" Annabeth asked.

"Oh! I forgot to tell you guys." Lou spoke up. "I actually asked this question to Apollo a few weeks ago" she said "I was wondering myself because of some monsters that slipped though"

"Wait a few weeks ago?" Percy asked. Lou nodded "didn’t the law just get lifted yesterday?"

"Yeah, but Apollo stoped following that rule after his trials." She explained. "I forgot that you two are not here 24/7 during the winter. It’s weird that there is stuff you DON’T about camp, you two are always such a constant here."

"Agreed" Nico cut in.

"So what did you learn about the barrier?" Annabeth asked.

"Right! So apparently, the golden fleece just healed Thalia, and Thalia’s tree. But before that, the reason camp barrier worked was because of Thalia’s life force inside of the tree." Lou explained. "So now the tree is just a regular pine tree."

"Then how does the barrier work?" Percy wondered aloud.

"Mist magic!" She grinned. "After Thalia came back to life, Athena called in a favor with my mom, Hecate, and she- with the help of Apollo- placed a mist barrier where the old barrier used to be, and it drives monsters away."

"My Mother asked Hecate to put mist over camp?" Annabeth asked

Lou nodded.

Huh.

"My theory is that the gods have cared for a long time" his cousin cut in, seeing the confused look on Percy’s face "They just had to be… discreet about it."

"We’ve always cared." A voice said from behind them.

They all turned to be met with the faces of Apollo and Chiron.

And Percy would admit he was surprised to see the sun God at first. But after what Lou just told him, it made sense that he would be here.

"We just couldn’t show it." He said with a soft smile, then the gods eyes fell to the… cracks(?) in the barrier.

Apollo stepped forward with a frown. "What…" he trailed off, making a face.

"What is it Lord Apollo?" Chiron asked.

Apollo’s face went though a series of emotions, Confusion, Anger, Concern, thoughtfulness, then settled to a mix of frustration and confusion.

"Someone tried to brake the barrier." He said.

Annabeth sighed "We figured that out. We are wondering whom."

"I don’t know." The god said, as he stepped closer to the barrier, running his hand over it.

Unlike Lou’s hand, Apollos hand did not glow, but there was no doubt in Percy’s mind that he was doing something along the lines of magic.

"It feels like someone tried to… for lack of a better term, kill this section of the mist…" He trailed of, before quickly continuing "How, I do not entirely know… my first thought is some sort of poison, but I would have sensed that because of my connection to the barrier."

"Connection?" Percy questioned

The god looked at Percy with a neutral look "I am the protector of youth, and this Camp protects the youth, Therefore I have a connection to her."

"Her?" Annabeth asked.

Apollo gave a grin, though it did not reach his eyes "Yes, Her. Like Olympus-" He looked at Nico "and the underworld- Camp half blood is alive, can shift and do things on her own. In a way, she’s semi sentient."

Then He looked at Percy and Annabeth, opening his mouth to say something, before shaking his head.

"Anyway. Back to the barrier" he said, losing the grin.

That was weird, Percy thought.

He looked at Annabeth, and her face said that she thought it was weird to.

But they didn’t have time to linger on it because Apollo continued speaking.

"Like I was saying, if they tried to poison it, I would have sensed it. So that rules out poison or any other form of physical attack. So my mind went to, maybe they were trying to break the mist tear it down. But Hecate would have sensed that, and would have alerted Athena and Me. So I really don’t know…. " Apollo said, with a sigh.

Then the gods eyes fell to the monster dust and his eyes went wide, "Did you guys have to fight a monster?! Are any of you hurt?!" He asked, his blue eyes flicking of the four of them, concern evident in them.

Nico shock his head. "No, that monster dust was here when we got here."

Apollo relaxed. "Then how did it get here?" He then asked

Lou shrugged "We don’t know, but it has to be recent, because the wind hasn’t blown away yet."

Apollo hummed in thought.

"Also" Nico spoke up, drawing all eyes to him. "The border itself feels like… the way I described it to these guys-" He gestured to the other three Demigods. "- Was, it felt like a dead life force, but it also doesn’t at the same time. I can’t put my figure on it. Any idea’s?" He asked the group.

Apollo ran his hand over the barrier again, he made a face, then did it again, but this time, his hand did glow a faint gold.

"I feel what you’re talking about." The god said. "It it definitely feels like a dead life force, but… fainter? Like it’s see though. Like it’s screaming, ‘don’t mind me, I’m not a problem because I’m already dead'."

Nico nodded. "That thought kinda makes me miserable…" he trailed off, shaking his head and continuing "I also felt some undead spirits really early this morning. But, as quickly as they were there, they were gone. So it could have been nothing."

Apollo nodded. But Percy could tell his mind was elsewhere.

All of a sudden Apollo and Nico’s words registered in his brain.

'My first thought is some sort of poison'

'Don’t mind me, i’m not a problem because I’m already dead’

'The thought kinda makes me miserable'

His mind flashed back.

'The death mist shrouds mortals in Misery.' She had said

'Okay, but we will be invisible to monsters?' He had asked.

There is no way. He thought.

But then he kept on thinking…

he could feel the color drain from his checks.

If she could hide us from monsters, who’s to say she can’t hide from other gods?

Nico noticed his rapidly peeling face "Hey Perce, you alright?"

All eyes where now on him

"Percy what’s wrong?" Chiron asked.

Percy ignored him, and turned the the only god in the vicinity

"Apollo are there other types of mist?" Percy asked all of a sudden.

Apollo paused… "Kinda..?" He gave Percy a strange look. Like the god was trying to figure out where he was going with this.

"All mist roots from the same thing, and all mist typically has the same general purpose- to hide or change what you see and feel… Why do you ask?" He asked hesitantly.

He debated not saying anything, but then he looked back at the cracks and remembered that the the color of the cracks look like…  poison

He inhaled. "What if, the… Being… that did this, used different type of mist to try and get though the barrier, unnoticed." Percy could feel his heart racing, so he tried to keep his breaths even.

Apollo thought about it for what felt hours, but was probably only a few seconds.

"…Yes." The god eventually said. "if someone tried to use a different kind of mist to break down the mist that Hecate put in place, and they were discreet about it, neither of us would notice, because it’s just another kind of mist."

It was then that Annabeth sharply inhaled. "Percy… you’re not suggesting…" she looked at him, fear in her eyes.

Annabeth was the smartest person Percy he knew, of course she had caught on to what he was suggesting. She was there with him.

He wrapped a an arm around her waist in comfort. Who the comfort was for, he didn’t know

"What is it you are suggesting Percy?" Chiron asked, oblivious to Percy and Annabeth being on the verge of panicking

Apollo, however, was not oblivious. He approached cautiously, "Hey you two, I have no clue what triggered you, but if you don’t calm down your gunna have a panic attack." He said soothingly, putting a hand on Annabeth shoulder, but looking at Percy "Can you take some deep breaths?"

Percy inhaled, held it for four second, then exhaled. He did it the twice before speaking again.

"Akhlys" he breathed, quiet enough, so only Apollo and Annabeth could hear.

Apollo inhaled sharply, but didn’t say anything.

"She… she can control the death mist… could she…." He didn’t finish the sentence

Apollo nodded softly. "If anyone could, it would be her. But this mist is Hecate’s mist. It will take more the a small scale attack to brake it." He explained

"But it’s not broken.” Annabeth whispered "She tried, and she failed."

"Last I heard, she was in the darkest parts of the pit. Now, I don’t know what happened when you were down there. All us gods know, is that you where down there, you closed the doors, and somehow lived… do you have reason to think she got out?" The god asked softly.

Percy thought back (and oh how he hated thinking back) trying to think if he saw her at the doors,

but it was all a blur. "I didn’t see her at the doors… but she ran off before we got to the doors." He said, voice cracking as he forced himself to remember.

"We didn’t see where she ran off to. But she’s a Primordial Goddess. If she wanted to escape through the doors before we shut them…" he didn’t need to say anything else

Apollo thought for a moment. then, hesitantly "…dose she have a motive against you?" He dared to ask

Both Percy and Annabeth Nodded.

How neither of them were crying yet, Percy didn’t know. he knew that she terrified both of them.

whenever they try to talk about her, one of them ended up having a panic attack.

They eventually did talk about what happened, but it took a lot of work.

But there was now zero tension, between the young couple surrounding the matter.

Annabeth never feared him. She feared that, that place was taking him away from her.

(Nothing could take him away from her… not again)

"Okay." Apollo said, firmly. "So here’s what’s gunna happen. I’m gunna call Dionysus, and he’s gunna take you four back to camp." He pointed at the Demigods

Nico and Lou opened their mouths to protest.

"No buts. You guys are not dealing with this one. And those two-" he pointed at Annabeth and Percy "-Need to calm the fuck down. They are both still on the verge of a panic attack, so they shouldn’t be left alone. That’s why I’m calling Dionysus to take them to the big house." Apollo explained.

He sounded like a parent.

"I can get us back to camp Apollo" Percy tried weakly

"Nope! You just had an anxiety attack, that almost turned into a panic attack, and she," Apollo pointed at Annabeth. "Almost had one just from hearing about it. So no. You’re gonna be supervised for at least the next hour  to calm down."

He went to deny the fact that he had a panic attack, but Apollo cut him off.

"Your heart is still racing and you’re shaking from adrenaline. Don’t even try."

Percy backed down, knowing Apollo was right and not having the mental  energy to argue.

"What are you gunna do?" Nico asked the god.

"Well, it seems that the barrier was able to withstand the attack. It doesn’t feel any weaker. So I’m gunna call Hecate and see what she thinks." Apollo explained.

"What do you want us to do on our end?" Annabeth spoke up

"For now, nothing. You guys keep doing what you’ve been doing. Get ready for the summer, hang out with friends. Do your little border walks when you normally do them, if you find anything irregular send me a prayer. And if I don’t show up, tell Dionysius."

He gave them a comforting smile "You don’t need to do anything. Let us handle it for now."

Percy felt himself relax a bit at the words ' Let us handle it for now.'

Could he do that? Let himself be protected?

He’s never had that before.

The feeling of protection was foreign to him.

But he thinks… He thinks that he likes the feeling…

Mr.D showed up shortly after that conversation. He took one look at Annabeth and Percy, and sighed. "C’mon, It’s about lunch time. You two as well, I know you skipped breakfast Nico."

they all made their way back to the big house.

Chapter 6: Percy gets a hug

Summary:

Percy immediately regretted, falling asleep. Because being asleep meant dreaming, and dreams meant nightmares.

Notes:

New Chapter!!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

They had made it back to the big house fine, Nico and Lou went to go eat lunch and Mr.D had told Percy and Annabeth to sit on the couch for a bit.

He had given them food, and water, and then just stayed silent, reading some random news paper that Percy was sure, was from the 1900’s.

The silence was heavy, but not suffocating. More like a weighted blanket. And Percy hound himself relaxing. Apollos words still ringing in his head.

' Let us handle it for now.'

Percy had always been the one to handle things, so it was wired to have an adult someone  else doing it for him.

He felt safe, he realized.

When was the last time that he felt truly safe? He wondered. He must have been really young… it was before Gabe, so 6 years old was the last time he felt safe? Gods, it had been so long since he felt the feeling of safety.

So you can’t blame him when he accidentally fell asleep on Annabeths shoulder.

Percy immediately regretted, falling asleep. Because being asleep meant dreaming, and dreams meant nightmares.

Percy was in a dimly lit, stone room with a long table in it. And at  the head of the table sat a figure that Percy couldn’t make out,  because he was shrouded in shadow.

Then the on the other side of the room a door opened, and figure stepped in.

They were wearing a cloak so Percy couldn’t make out any distinct features, but what Percy did see was they were short, didn’t even look 5 feet tall.

"Speak" Said the figure at the head of the table. He had a deep and commanding voice.

"My lord, I have come to inform you that everything is in place, and that I am set to depart in just 6 days." The shorter boy said.

And Percy was sure he was a kid, his voice cracked, like that of a young boy.

"Good. Do not fail." The other figure said.

"I do not understand why we can’t just strike now. Get the chaos started." Said a female voice.

Percy turned to where the voice came from and saw two feminine figures, one that was cloaked and he couldn’t see, the one who just spoke Percy recognizing.

Eris, The goddess of discord and strife.

Percy had only met the Goddess once, but he didn’t like her. She was the cause of the Trojan war.

"I must agree. I wish to see the pain and misery on that Sea Brats face!" And though he didn’t see her face, he knew that voice.

Akhlys, the goddess of misery and poison.

Shit. These two Goddess, this unknown being, And some random kid. This can’t be good.

"Patience, Akhlys, you will get your revenge, after we take Olympus." The figure at the head of the table stood, still cloaked in shadow.

"See, the Titian lord had the right idea. But he didn’t account for his mortal body. And Gaia didn’t account for the seven demigods persistence." He explained, calculating.

"I, however, am strong. where the titan lord had a mortal body, I am immortal and powerful. Where Gaia did not account for the will of the Demigods, I will." He paused, and though Percy couldn’t see his face, he could tell the shrouded figure was smiling.

"I however, will not fail." And then he looked directly at Percy, and Percy saw his eyes… they were pitch black. "I am something different entirely…  It’s time to wake up, νεαρός καταστροφέας"

Percy felt fear run though him.

Percy shot up with a gasp, barely noticing that a soft blanket had been placed on him, and that the sun was beginning to set, meaning that he had been asleep for at least five hours.

Percy breathed heavily as the beings words kept repeating in his head.

Time to wake up, νεαρός καταστροφέας’

'νεαρός καταστροφέας'

'Young destroyer'

Percy breaths began to shake.

"Percy…?"

Percy snapped his head up from where it had been buried in his hands. His father stood in the door way to Mr.D’s office.

Poseidon met Percy’s gaze, and slowly approached. Like he was approaching a scared animal.

Percy watched him get closer, not tensing up but not relaxing.

"…Did you have a nightmare?" His father asked. Like Percy was still a child.

You are a child.

Shut up, he told his thoughts.

Percy didn’t respond, still thinking of his dream.

It had been years since he had gotten caught in a dream walking state. (That’s what Clovis had called it when Percy asked him)

And what they had been saying…

' I am set to depart in just 6 days.’

'I wish to see the pain and misery on that Sea Brats face!'

I am something different entirely.’

Who was that? Percy wondered, as he felt his heart and breaths quicken without his consent.

Percy didn’t know when Poseidon had sat down next to him on the couch. But he did notice when he placed a gentle hand on Percy shoulder.

He flinched at the touch, not expecting it. But then looked at his father, and saw the concerned look in his eyes.

Then, his father slowly raised his hand, and cupped Percy cheek, wiping the tears Percy didn’t even notice where falling.

"You’re okay, you’re safe." His father said, soothingly

Percy felt his breath slow, and he relaxed a bit. Not much, but a little

Percy’s father studied him for a moment, like he was internally departing something with himself. Before he came to a decision.

Poseidon moved the arm that was on Percy’s shoulder to Percy’s back, and the other arm moved the back of his neck, and he gently pulled Percy in.

Holding him…

Percy tensed at the touch.

He had never had a hug from his dad before. It had always been side hugs, shoulder pats, maybe the occasional hair ruffle when he was 12 or 13.

But never this, never a full on hug. And it wasn’t just a hug, his dad was holding Percy close to his chest, hiding him from the world.

And Percy…

Percy melted into the hug, weakly wrapping his arms around his dad, and resting his head on his dad’s chest.

Poseidon, shifted the hand on the back of his neck, to his hair. He ran his clawed fingers though his raven black hair, and Percy, against his will, melted more.

He had calmed down at this point, but found he didn’t want to leave his dad’s arms.

"Did you have a nightmare?" Poseidon asked once more.

Percy nodded. "A vision." He whispered

He felt his dad tense slightly, but he didn’t stop playing with his hair.

"I haven’t had one in a while." Percy’s voice cracked.

"What about?" The gods asked softly.

"Did Apollo or Mr.D fill you in?"

His dad nodded.

Percy made himself take a breath, he subconsciously grabbed chest pocket of his dads shirt, and began fidgeting with the button on it.

"I saw, four beings in what looked like a meeting room." he took another breath.

His dad began to rub his back comfortingly, a hand still in his hair, but no longer moving.

"The first being, I didn’t recognize, I couldn’t see what he looked like, he was covered in shadow, and I didn’t recognize his voice. But he had black eyes, and a very powerful aura." He felt his dad nod, so Percy continued,

"The second being, had to been a kid. Not older then 13 if I had to guess, but I didn’t see his face"

Percy made himself take yet another deep breath. "The other two, I did recognize." He paused again, he dad had stoped rubbing his back, now back to messing with his hair. "Eris, was the first one. And Akhlys was the other."

He said the names quickly so he didn’t have to think about it more then he needed to

His father hummed "did they say anything?" He asked, his voice was so soft and comforting, it made Percy want to cry again.

"The only important thing, is that the kid said he was ready to leave in 6 days, whatever that could mean" Percy said, still resting his head on his dad’s chest.

"Are you sure that was the only important thing?" His dad asked

Percy took a shaky breath, "He saw me…"

Poseidon paused his messing with Percy’s hair.

"The being at the head of the table." Percy added on.

His dad pulled back from the hug a little, looking into Percy’s eyes. "What did he say?" He said.

And If his dad kept on being this gentle with him, Percy really was going to start crying again.

"He said 'Time to wake up, νεαρός καταστροφέας'" Percy left out the part where he was basically threatened by the being.

"So he knew who you were already." His dad stated. Gently pushing Percy head back down, and continuing to run his hands though Percy hair.

"What do you mean?" The demigod asked.

" 'νεαρός καταστροφέας' " The god quoted " Young Destroyer… 'Perseus’ means 'Destroyer.' So he knows who you are."

Percy almost forgot that his name ment that. But it now made sense on why the being had called him that

Percy shrugged "A lot of things know who I am." Then Percy remembered another part of his dream "He also went on a monolog about how the Titian lord and Gaia failed in over throwing the Olympians and how wasn’t going to fail." He added nonchalantly

"The being sounds like he is awfully confidant in his ability’s" Poseidon noted.

Percy nodded.

They sat in silence after that, His dad still running his hands though Percy hair. A some point Percy closed his eyes, he didn’t fall asleep because he wasn’t tired, but he relaxed.

"I want you to come to Atlantis sooner then next week." His dad said all of a sudden.

"I’ll come on the 6th like I said I would. I have stuff to do." Percy spoke with a slight laugh

His dad didn’t seem happy about it but he seemed resined.

The god sighed, "I have to go inform the Olympian council about your dream.”

Percy nodded, he figured that would be the case.

"You need to go eat dinner. Come on, up."

Percy really didn’t want to leave his dads arms, but looking out the window he realized that the sun was even lower in the sky, and that he had been in his dads arms for an hour.

He slowly stood up, his dad standing up next to up next to him. "Annabeth wanted me to tell you she would meet you at dinner." Percy nodded.

Then, boldly, he hugged his dad again. His dad immediately hugged him back.

"Thank you" Percy whispered, and pulled back from the hug.

His dad smiled at him "Of course. Try not to worry about this, we are gunna handle it. You and your fellow demigods won’t be involved if we can help it."

After that, he quickly put his shoes on (someone had taken them off when he was asleep) and ran to dinner.

And though, he didn’t know it, his dad watched him to make sure he made it to Annabeth safely, eyes full of love.

Chapter Text

The next week went on with very little activity.

A few weak spots where found in the barrier but nothing like what they had found before

And the camp protection squad decided that it would be best if Percy and Annabeth where the ones who told the new campers about the gods being parents, when the first day of camp came around.

Speaking of gods, more had been showing up. Percy had talked with his dad a few more time, Apollo was around most of the time now, and Hermes showed up when he could.

Ares had paid Clarisse a visit.

And Clarisse made Percy swear not to tell anyone about this part, but as soon as her dad had shown up she had texted Percy, because she didn’t want to be alone talking to him, and Cris wasn’t answering his phone.

Percy and Clarisse had become something along the lines of friends after they had gotten over their pointless childhood rivalry.

Right now Percy was looking over all the training swords in the arena, and trying to figure out what he wanted to teach the newbies first.

He had taking over sword fighting lessons when he was 14, right after his quest to save Annabeth and Artemis.

And he was told that he was a good teacher, but sometimes he doubted that.

After he was done inspecting the training swords, taking out some that were to sharp, he sat down on a bench on the side of the arena.

He wondered how many new camper they were going to get tomorrow. He knew that there were returning campers, like Clovis and Butch. But the satyr protectors, had said that they were very successful in finding new demigods this year

And that’s not even counting all of the mortals who might bring their children to camp.

Percy began to think about more future sword fighting lessons he could teach the newbies. Maybe he could get Nico, Jason or Annabeth to help him demonstrate some techniques. They were the only three who matched him in sword fighting ability.

And Jason would be good to maybe teach some Roman techniques.

He was pulled out of his thoughts by voices entering the arena.

The seven (minus Hazel and Frank, because they were at camp Jupiter), Nico and Will all entered.

"Thought we would find you here!" Leo said with a goofy grin.

"Where you guys looking for me?" He asked, as everyone began sitting in a circle.

He scooted over so Nico and Jason could sit next to him, Annabeth sat in the floor facing him, Will pulled over a crate full of armor and sat on it next to Nico, Piper sat on the floor to the left of Annabeth, and Leo sat on the floor across from Jason.

It was more of a cluster than a circle.

"We weren’t really looking, we knew where you would be." Jason said, throwing an arm around Percys shoulders.

"We just were thinking we should all hang out before the chaos starts." Piper explained.

"What were you up too?" Leo then asked

Percy shrugged "Checking over the training sword to make sure they aren’t too sharp for the newbies."

"What do you think you’re gunna teach them first?" Annabeth questioned

"Probably just basic forms and stances, right?" Nico cut in.

"For the first lesson for the newbies on Tuesday yeah,” Percy said, then added "but I think I’m gunna do lesson in sparing for the Novices on Wednesday, do any of you guys wanna help me with that?" He looked pointedly at Nico, Jason And Annabeth.

"I’ll help out” Nico said.

Leo raised his hand. "May I ask a stupid question for the man who’s not a sword fighter." He asked

"Go for it Leo" Jason said with a soft smile. (It didn’t slip past Percy that Leo blushed at the smile)

Leo cleared his throat "what’s the difference between the newbie and Novice classes?" He asked

"Skill level” Annabeth cut in

Percy nodded "Yeah basically. There are actual sword fighting skill levels, But I think that they are bullshit, so I made my own”

"Wait, what are your own?" Will asked curiously.

"I have 5 levels. Beginner/Newbie, for the first time sword fighters, and those who were just getting started… Then Novice, for when you’re no longer a beginner, but you aren’t quite good enough to be out in the field yet… Then you have intermediate, which is when I would consider you good to get out on the field, if need be… then I have advanced which speaks for itself… Then Master, which is when I run out of shit to teach" he explained,

"I think I like that system more than the Roman system." Jason said.

Annabeth spoke up "I also like the system a lot, I like how it separates the true beginners from the beginners who have a little experience." She explained.

"Percy, if you had to place all of us in a sword fighting class, what level would you put us on?" Piper asked, with a mischievous grin. She was looking to cause trouble, and Percy was all for it.

Percy matched her grin "Well, I would put in masters: Annabeth, Nico and Jason.”

They nodded, that placement made sense.

"If Hazel and Frank where here, I would put them both in advanced, they still have a little bit to learn. Piper I would also put you in advanced.”

"Really?!" She asked, she seemed shocked

Percy nodded. "Piper you’re a natural at swinging a blade. Anyway, Will you would be in the  intermediate, just because you’ve never taken an interest in sword fighting, but you’re not bad at it."

Will nodded "I would have put myself in Novice I appreciate the compliment" he said with a laugh

"And Leo’s a beginner.” He finished. He flashed Piper grin, now the chaos began.

"WHAT!? I am not a beginner sword fighter! I’m intermediate at least!" Leo said, looking offended

Annabeth hissed, dramatically. "I don’t know Leo, you may be even lower than a beginner."

Leo made an offended noise "How DARE you!" He crossed his arms, "I bet a could beat you Annabeth."

Uh oh.

A smile slowly creeped onto his girlfriend’s face, "You wanna spar and test that, Leo?"  She said, that mischievous smile on her face that Percy loved to see.

Leo looked at Annabeth, taking in her smile that promised pain. "…….No. i’ve decided I don’t want to anymore."

Everybody broke into laughter after that. The kind of laughter that took minutes to die down.

"What’s everybody laughing at?" They turned to see Apollo and Hermes stepping into the arena

"Nothing." Piper responded with a giggle. "Just Leo being scared of Annabeth, as always.”

"I AM NOT SCARED OF HER!"

"Ah makes sense." Hermes said. "Can we join you kids?" He then asked.

There was a series of collective nods. Hermes and Apollo had been around a lot the past 7 days, so it wasn’t weird for them to be around anymore. The two gods sat down crisscross on the floor.

"I can sword fight…" Leo mumbled

"Leo if you want to learn to sword fight I can just teach you." Jason said.

Leo’s eyes lit up "Really?"

Jason nodded "Yeah, if you want, I can teach you a few basic stances before dinner."

"Now?" Leo asked, a look in his eyes.

Percy looked at Piper pointedly. She just smiled at him.

"Why not." Jason shrugged, getting up and lending a hand to help Leo up.

Leo took the hand, and let himself be pulled up.

"We are gunna go over there if that’s alright with you guys." Jason said

They all nodded "Go for it." Will said, a knowing smile on his face.

They sat in silence as they walked off, then…

"Bets on how long it will take for them to start dating." Nico said, after they where out of earshot, with a smile on his face.

"Wait that’s what that was?" Apollo asked, now lookeding the two boys on the other side of the arena.

They all nodded. "They have always had some chemistry, but it’s really starting to show now" Piper said.

Nico nodded "Jason blushes every time I talk about Leo."

"I bet 50 bucks that they will get together on the solace" Percy said, after studying the two boys for a moment.

Annabeth scoffed "No way, Jason’s almost as oblivious as you when it comes to crushes. Put me down for 50, I say a week before the end of summer."

"Annabeth is right, i’ve been watching them dance around each for weeks!” Piper said, with a sigh.

”put me down for 25 for it to take 6 weeks” she said

"Hang on let me write this down.” Hermes said. Summoning a notebook and pen.

They all put down their bets, Apollo boldly putting down 30 buck, that it will be by the end of the week.

"Man this betting pool has almost as much money as Percy and Annabeths did." Will said, suddenly

"WHAT?!"  "We Had a betting pool?" "How much was on it?" The couple shouted over each other.

Will laughed at them "it was like 300 bucks. Drew won"

"Of course she did.” Annabeth said, with a sigh.

They all talked about various things, mainly about how they were going to handle camp opening tomorrow.

"Apollo and I will also be there tomorrow so if you need help don’t be afraid to ask." Hermes said.

Percy nodded. Then a thought came to him

"Have you guys figured anything more out on what could be happening to the barrier, and that whole situation?" He asked

Everybody in the little cluster looked at the two gods, wondering the same. Percy had filled in the camp Protection squad the day after his dream.

Apollo shook his head. "No.Your dream was very helpful though! We now know for sure That Eris and Akhlys are involved in some way, but from the sounds of it, they’re not the leaders of this operation."

"We have a couple guesses on who it could be, but nothing concrete.” Hermes said, he sounded frustrated. "It’s been quiet. Not even the quietest whisper has been heard." He muttered

"But you shouldn’t worry about it. We’re handling it. The second we catch wind up something, we will be on it." Apollo said, comfortingly.

At that moment the dinner horn sounded. "Off you go," said Hermes "Go eat some dinner."

They all stood up and began leaving, before Apollo put a hand on his shoulder stoping him. "Percy do you mind hanging back and talking to us for a second?" Asked the god.

Nico came up next to Percy "what about?" Nico asked. He was being protective.

At one point during Apollo‘s trials Percy and Nico ran into each other by chance, they talked about all of their issues, everything. And worked it all out. No hard feelings. Now Nico was like a younger brother to him, and Percy  was like an older brother to Nico.

Making Nico, just as protective of Percy as Percy was of Nico.

"It’s nothing bad, we just have some questions about your dreams" Hermes said

Nico looked at Percy, asking silently if he would be okay.

Percy smiled at Nico, placing a hand on his arm. "It’s fine Nico, I’ll meet you at dinner."

Nico looked at the gods again, then back at Percy and nodded, running off to follow the others…

Percy took a breath "what do you wanna know?"

"Percy… " Apollo said sitting down on the bench and motioning for Percy to follow. Percy sat down next to the god. "Have you had dreams like that before? dreams where you see stuff that’s happening elsewhere?”

Percy nodded "Yeah, i’ve had them since I was about 12. Why?"

Apollo looked pointedly at Hermes "I told you." He said to the other god. Hermes shrugged

Apollo sighed "Percy. Those types of dreams are near prophetic. Have you ever had dreams of things that have happened in the past?"

Percy nodded "A couple of times. I talked to Clovis about it. He called it dream walking, but said it seemed a little different than that. That he didn’t know what I was doing."

Apollo nodded. "it makes sense that you would have semi prophetic abilities. You’ve never seen anything from the future, have you?"

Percy shook his head. And Apollo nodded "Yeah I was just curious. The ocean holds a lot of memory’s. You know, fun fact, your dad used to hold the domain of prophecy before I did."

"Really?" Percy asked, eyes going wide.

"Yup. So maybe you inherited some of that. Like I said, the ocean always holds a lot of memory’s. maybe you should ask your dad about it next time you see him." He said.

Percy nodded

"Anyway, the reason we’re asking" Hermes cut in "is because typically demigods can’t see that kind of stuff in a dream like state, without another deity’s summoning them. Which would explain why the being saw you." Hermes explained

"But if you did it on your own, that makes it a little different, with the fact that he could tell you where there." Apollo said.

"That’s not the first time I’ve been seen, it’s just been a while" Percy told the two.

"Who saw you last time?" Hermes asked

"One of Kronos’s minions, a servant of Hecate."

Apollo hummed "The Titian lord didn’t see you?" Percy shook his head "have you ever dream walked near a God before?"

Percy thought back for a moment, thinking before nodding "Yeah. When I was 14, I had a vision about your sister when she took Annabeth’s place to hold up the sky"

Apollo winced at the reminder of his sister having to do that. "Did she notice you?"

Percy shrugged "if she did, she didn’t make eye contact or anything." Then Percy asked a question of his own "What does this have to do with who I saw in my dream?"

Apollo sighed "i’m trying to gauge the power level of this guy to have seen you. I’m gonna have to talk to my sister, to see if she saw you. Then that will narrow down who we might be dealing with."

Percy nodded. "Well if you have any other questions about my strange dreams, let me know.” He said with a laugh.

Hermes snorted "alright run along to dinner."

Percy ran to dinner.

Notes:

This one is mainly a filler chapter, there’s a little bit of plot at the end, but not much.

How long do you think it will take for jason and Leo to get together? (Lol)

Chapter Text

It was 9:00 AM when the campers started showing up.

Percy’s job was to supervise and answer any questions that were asked, after the the newbies watched the (Updated) orientation video.

There were lots of younger kids this year. Like under the age of 12.

So it was a little chaotic, but it was kept fairly organized.

After everybody watched the orientation video, they were set to meet in the dining pavilion, where Percy and Annabeth, along with a few other head counselors were set to do a speech.

Percy was counting all the campers as they came through, right now he was at 82, it looked like there were about 20 who where still coming down the hill.

After the last 10 kids went into watching the orientation video, Percy and Annabeth made their way  to the to the dinning pavilion to get ready for the opening speech.

Typically Chiron did the opening speech, but he had asked Percy and Annabeth to do it this year.

Annabeth said it was because most campers saw them as the leaders.

Which was just crazy to Percy, but he supposed it made sense, he did lead the demigods battle of Manhattan.

They got to the dinning, and were met by Katie Gardner and Will Solace. They were going to help with the speech.

"You nervous?" Will asked

Percy shock his head "Not really. We don’t really have anything to be nervous about, just gonna introduce ourselves, the head counselors, Chiron and Mr.D. Then we’re going to explain some basic rules. then we drop the bomb about the gods being parents!" Percy said

Annabeth made a face. "You make it sound so easy. We have a lot of returning campers, they’re gonna be shocked"

Percy shrugged.

"Do you have a final count on how many campers we have this summer?" Katie asked

"I counted 101, including all of us, while I was giving out T-Shirts" Will said.

Annabeth Whistled "And it’s just the first day of camp. Typically we  get at least a few more throughout the summer."

Will nodded. "It’s a full house."

"Hey kiddos!" Apollo said, walking up to them, with a smile.

"Hey Apollo. What’s up?" Katie asked

"I’m just letting you know I’m gunna be sitting next to Dio, if you need anything." The god said.

Percy nodded "Thanks. where is Hermes by the way? He said he would be here." He the asked

Apollo sighed "He probably just got busy with the mail or something. I’m sure he’ll be here soon."

"It looks like everyone it seated. Ready to get started?" Annabeth said.

The all nodded. And Apollo went to take his seat.

The made there way up to the platform in the dining pavilion.

"Good morning camp halfblood campers, new and old!" Will said cheerily. "We just have a few things to go over before we can get this summer started. First of, My name is Will Solace and I am the Head of Cabin 7, the Apollo cabin, and i’m also head medic of camp."

As soon as Will finished, two Sun symbols suddenly appeared over two kids heads. A boy, who couldn’t be any older than 11. And a little girl who couldn’t be older than 9. They both had dirty blonde hair and blue eyes and were clinging onto each other.

Definitely full siblings Percy thought, with a smile

As the symbols appeared Will grinned. "That means that you two are my little siblings, go take a seat at table 7” he said softly

"The first rule is that there is to be no fighting, unless it is capture the flag or if you are sparing in the arena. There are two different list of rules going along with those two things, but you’ll learn those rules when you do those activities." Will finished

Katie stepped up then "My name in Katie Gardener and I am Head of Cabin 4, the Demeter cabin. Another rule you should follow is please do not litter, it is extremely disrespectful to the forest and we do not want to  anger the wood nymphs." Sometime during Katie in introducing herself, Four symbols of Demeter showed up, three boys and one girl.

the girl couldn’t be any older then 7, and all boys looked between the ages of 9 and 12.

"Same thing goes for the water Nymphs." Percy cut in, stepping forward so Katie could go help her new siblings "Hi, I’m Percy Jackson, Head of cabin 3, the Poseidon Cabin. I will also be your sword instructor, and no, you do not get your own sword right away." He said, he heard a few annoyed groans from the campers

He gestured to Kayla Knowles, "That is Kayla, Daughter of Apollo, She will be your archery instructor." Kayla raised her hand and waved with a smile

Then he pointed to Clarisse "That is Clarisse, Daughter of Ares." Right as he said Ares name, Ares Symbol appeared over two girls heads, one had blond hair the other had dark brown, and they sitting on opposite sides of cabin 11’s table.

Percy smiled when the two girls got claimed "She is the head counselor of cabin 5, and will be the one to teach you hand to hand combat, along with wrestling." Clarisse was currently waving the two girls over to her table.

It was like a domino Effect, whenever Percy brought up a God, they claimed their kids.

He loved it. This was the fastest the kids have ever gotten claimed at camp.

Annabeth stepped up then "And I am Annabeth Chase, Co-Head of Cabin 6, the Athena cabin, Along with Malcom Pace." Malcom waved.

And right as he waved, a girl Percy had immediately clocked as one of Athena’s earlier, got claimed.

Annabeth smiled "I will be your ancient Greek teacher. Our brains are hardwired for it so we can understand it automatically, we just can’t speak it automatically. So I’ll be teaching you how to speak it.” She said.

She shot a glance to Percy, then continued. "Now super quickly, we are going to go over all of the Cabin heads. These are the people who you can go to if you have an issue with anything." She inhaled

"Jason Grace, Cabin 1, Zeus." Jason Raised his hand with a smile. "Percy, Cabin 3. Katie, Cabin 4. Clarisse, Cabin 5. Myself, Cabin 6." She raised her own hand, as she said the mentioned peoples names, they were all raising their hands. "Will, Cabin 7. Then you have Leo Valdez, Cabin 9 Hephaestus. Piper McLean, Cabin 10 Aphrodite."

As soon as she said cabin 10, a dove appeared over three kids heads.

"Oh my Gods" Percy whispered, because wow, they were speed running claiming.

Annabeth continued, grinning ear from ear from all the claimings "Connor and Travis Stoll are the co heads of Cabin 11, Hermes. Then Pollux Slade head of Cabin 12, Dionysus. Now those are all of the olympians, now we have the other gods with cabins here."

She took a breath. "Nico D’Angelo, head of Cabin 13, Hades. Butch Walker, Head of Cabin 14, Iris." Said goddess claimed two kids, a boy and a girl.

"Then you have Clovis Ann, Head of Cabin 15, Hypnos." Two Girls got claimed and made their way to table 15. "Damien White, head of Cabin 16, Nemesis. Laurel Victor, Head of Cabin 17, Niki." A young boy got claimed.

Percy and Annabeth were both smiling now. They both remembered was like for kids to take years to get claimed. Camp had only been open for an hour, and from the looks of it, almost everyone was claimed already.

"Paolo Chills, Head of Cabin 18, Hebe.” A young girl got claimed. "Clara Luce, Head of cabin 19, Tyche." A little Boy got claimed. "And last but not least, Lou Ellen Blackstone, Head of Cabin 20, Hecate." An another girl got claimed.

Annabeth took another breath. "now I don’t expect you to remember all of those names, But just know you can go to any of us for any problem you may have. Now there is also Chiron, our activities director. And Mr.D also know as Dionysus, He is the Camp director."

Annabeth looked at Percy. It was time to drop the bomb.

Percy stepped forward "Now typically, we end this long speech there. But we have one more announcement."

All the returning campers, who knew who Percy was the unspoken leader, looked up. Questioningly.

Percy inhaled. "About a week ago, the 12 olympians had a meeting. And during that meeting, the laws keeping the gods from interacting with their children… were abolished, in a unanimous vote."

There where gasps, Campers jaws where on the floor, he heard some whispers of 'unanimous?' 'What dose this mean?' 'Finally'

"Now, you may wondering what this means for Camp Halfblood. Let me explain it to you, the gods are now going to be much more involved in our lives." He said, pausing before continuing.

"Though out this past week, camp had been visited by a number of gods, you may notice Apollo is here right now." Apollo gave a wave, and a soft smile from where he sat.

"We have had no issues with them so far. And from all I’ve seen, I believe this is a great thing. I mean, look at all the  children that were just claimed. That has never happened before." he looked over all the conflicting faces of the campers in the crowd.

"All I ask of you, is to give them a chance. Respect is a two way street, if you do not give them the chance to prove they can be better they will not be better."

He looked over the crowd, his friends, his comrades, his family. "That is all I ask.”

He cleared his throat. "Now, if all unclaimed campers could come meet me over by Hestia hearth, that would be amazing."

He jumped down from the platform. As he walked over to the hearth, he was stoped by Mr.D "Good speech Perry." He said.

Percy smiled "Thanks." He went to meet the kids at the hearth.

At the hearth where three kids, two girls one boy.

"Are we in trouble?” A little girl with light blond hair and bluish grey eyes asked

Percy shook his head. "Nope! Not at all." He sat down on the hearth with a soft smile. (Hestia had given him permission to sit down on the hearth long ago.)

"You’re not in any trouble."  He reiterated. "I’m just trying to figure out why you weren’t claimed, and your godly parent might be." He said softly.

"Why don’t you three sit down and tell me a bit about your selfs, so I can take some guesses on who your parents might be and tell them to claim you." He phrased like a question, to try to make them more comfortable.

The first one to step up was the light blond haired girl with blueish grey eyes. Just by looking at her, her eyes were too blue to be one of Athena’s, but they weren’t blue enough to be Apollo’s.

Her hair blew in the wind, making it look all wispy. Hmm

"My name is Micha, I’m 10." Said the little girl.

Percy smiled at the girl. "Nice to meat you Micha, I’m Percy, but you knew that. Micha, mind telling me a little bit about your mortal parent?"

She nodded eagerly  "My Mama! She’s a Pilot! She also loves making kites! We flew them all the time when I was younger! She always said that I made the kites fly supper high!"

He thought for a moment, going through all the gods that had to do with the sky and the wind in his head. "What about you?" He asked the other girl.

This girl had long Black and and dark brown eyes that where almost black, but when he looked into her eyes, he thought he saw little white specs. she also had a splattering of dark freckles that reminded him of constellations.

"I’m Layla Backs, I’m 11. My Dad was an astronomer, he always said that there was lots to look at night, but he’s not here anymore.” She said softly.

There were only a few goddess that had to do with the night. "That’s very nice Layla, I also love the night… and the stars" he said, voice uncharacteristically soft.

Then he looked at the boy, who hadn’t said anything. He had dark brown hair and dark, dark blue eyes, he was a little pale and scrawny. "What’s your name?" He asked the boy.

"Ebon." He said, quickly. He didn’t say anything else, and Percy didn’t push.

But looking at the kid… something was… off? He didn’t know. The kid could just be quiet. But something about the kid… and the way he seemed to carry himself, just rubbed Percy the wrong way.

"How old are you Ebon?" He asked, forcing himself to keep his voice soft. But his gut was telling him something was off.

No. He told his gut. This is a kid, a little boy. Just because he was quiet and carried  himself different, didn’t make him a threat. But that didn’t stop his instincts from telling him otherwise.

"11" said Ebon.

Percy nodded, "all right, well I’m gonna do some digging on who your godly parents might be, and if I figure it out, I’ll tell you. But I will say this I don’t think that any of your parents have cabin here yet, which is probably why you weren’t claimed. So you’ll be staying in cabin 11 for now."

At that point the kids had run off to table 11, and Travis approached him. "Unclaimed?" He asked. Percy nodded. "Any guesses?" He then asked

"Uhh, I think Micha is a daughter of one of the wind gods, I don’t know which one though. Layla seems like she’s from the chthonic side of things. Which god? I have no idea, I’ll probably talk to Nico about it." He said.

Travis nodded. "What about the boy?" He asked, and Percy must have made a face, because Travis is face immediately fell "What’s bothering you about the boy." He asked in a hushed voices

Percy sighed "I don’t know, just something about the way he carries himself…" he trailed off.

"Trust your gut Percy, it’s gotten us out of a lot of situations. And your Instincts are almost always correct." He said.

"I really don’t know, the kid is only 11, and he’s scrawnier than Nico was at that age. Nothing about him should be setting me off." Percy sighed. "I think I’m just on edge because of the barrier attack."

Travis immediately shook his head "Don’t say that. Like I said, your instinct are almost always correct. Remember that one time, last winter when your gut said something was wrong, and it was because of an impending monster attack on camp?"

Percy nodded. He had been staying at camp for a few days, but he could just feel it in his bones that something was gonna happen, and a couple of hours later about three dozen monsters emerged from the woods.

"we would’ve been caught completely off guard if you had not told us you where on edge." Travis said,

"I’m gunna keep an eye on him" the son of Hermes decided suddenly "see if I notice anything off. I won’t take any action without running it by you, if something were to happen" he insisted.

Percy wanted to argue, but knew it was a loosing battle. So he nodded.

"Okay. Yeah, just let me know if anything strange happens."

Chapter Text

Percy was tossing in turning in his bed. It was 3 am and he couldn’t sleep.

He was still on edge.

Just something about that kid… he sighed.

He needed a change in scenery. He rolled out of his bed, put on his tennis shoes and made his way to the arena.

It was a habit he had when he developed when he was younger. Going to the arena late at night and running though drills, just to do something that was familiar, something he could do on auto pilot and just let his mind drift. Just to be able to not think.

He made in to the arena, pulled out riptide and began running drills. He didn’t put on any armor or any wrist guards, like he should have. To tied and stressed to think about it.

He went though the motions he had done hundreds of times before.

Block, stab, parry, turn, slash.

Block, stab, parry, turn, slash.

Block, stab, parry, turn, slash.

Over and over. Until his mind went quiet.

He didn’t know when had Apollo shown up.

"You’re up late."

Startled, Percy turned toward direction voice and went into a defensive stance.

He relaxed when he saw it was Apollo "What are you doing here?" Percy asked the god, slightly out of breath, but nonetheless he turned back to continue his drills.

"Tilly, my second youngest, was missing her mom. I went to comfort her until she fell asleep. Then I decided to walk around camp, and saw you here." Apollo explained.

Block, stab, parry, turn, slash.

"You’re on edge." The god then stated.

Block, stab, parry, turn, slash.

"What’s got you all worked up?"

stab, parry, turn… "I don’t know" Percy said. He really didn’t know why he was on edge, so why did it feel like a lie?

They sat in silence after that.

Percy went back to his drills. His mind elsewhere.

Block, stab, parry, turn, slash.

Apollo pulled out his bow and a knife, and sat down on the ground. He took the knife and began carving symbols into his bow.

Block, stab, parry, turn, slash.

What is up with that kid? Why did the boy seem wrong? Percy found himself wondering.

stab, parry, turn, slash.

He had no reason to think something was up with the kid. Innocent till proven guilty.

parry, turn, slash.

He found himself feeling guilty for thinking something was up with the kid. Especially when he had no reason to think that.

turn, slash.

It was stupid. Thinking someone had underlying intentions when they’ve shown no signs of that…

slash.

It reminded him up when he was super young, and teachers always assumed he was intending to cause trouble.

slash- Percy slipped.

He had gotten dizzy all of a sudden and wasn’t able to keep his focus because he was tired.

Percy would’ve fallen directly on his sword, but his reflexes kicked in.

He turned his sword so it was laying flat, so it didn’t cut into his chest. Then he attempted to throw his arms out to get the sword out of the way.

He should’ve just let go of riptide, but his reflexes kicking in also meant he tightened his grip when he stumbled.

Because you never wanted to lose your sword in battle.

He fell face first into the ground, his sword, unfortunately cutting into his left wrist.

Why didn’t I put on wrist guards. He thought.

He hissed at the pain, dropping his sword and sitting up, looking at the wound.

Before he could look at the wound in its entirety, Apollo was at his side, grabbing his wrist and examining it.

It wasn’t super deep, but it was deep enough to need stitches. It was long more than anything, a two inch cut.

With out a word, Apollo ran his thumb over the cut, healing it.

Percy was still dizzy.

"It’s too late for you to be training μικρή ξαδέρφη" said the god.

Percy shook his head, trying to shake off the dizziness

Apollo must have been able to tell Percy was not shaking in response to him. "What is it?" He asked, concern lacing his tone

"Got dizzy all of a sudden" Percy said, moving a hand to his temples

Apollos face harden, and he stared off past percy for a moment, before coming back.

"What?" Percy asked, being able to tell to god just spit his conscience.

"Someone was trying to go for the barrier again. You sensed it, and I was able to stop the attack, but whoever tried it, flashed away before I could get to them, I’m telling Hecate now to see if she can track them, down." The god said.

"Wait, I sensed it?" Percy asked, confused. Then the rest of the sentence registered "There was another attack?! You stoped it?"

The god nodded, sitting down next to Percy, still rubbing a hand over his wrist. "I stoped it." He confirmed.

Then he sighed "And as for you being able to sense it, I thought about telling you thing the other day, but I decided it wasn’t the right time."

"Tell me what?"

"Remember how I explained to you how camp was semi sentient?" Percy nodded. "Well, She has identified you and Annabeth as the leaders. Therefore you have a bit of connection with her. You a little bit more than Annabeth" Apollo explained.

"Which is why you got dizzy when someone tried to take out the barrier again. And why you’re sometimes able to tell when large amounts monsters enter camp." The god told him.

"Wait then why didn’t I sense the last attack?" Percy asked.

Apollo sighed "Because no one expected the last attack, and because the last attack was a very weak attempt."

The more percy thought about it the more it made sense. Camp Halfblood had shown him the labyrinth when he needed it, he was really good at telling when a bunch of monsters entered camp.

Then he realized something, he was also really good at recognizing bad people who entered his camp. What that her telling him she didn’t like said people?

First, it was Tantalus, then Quintus, hell even for the short time he and Octavian were in camp at the same time, he felt off.

And now he felt the same way about Ebon.

But he needed to make sure.

"Would that also translate to bad people entering camp? Like if she didn’t like them, would I be able to tell?" He asked softly.

The god nodded  "if said person was the same power level as you, or lower, and she didn’t like said person, you would be able to sense it. This doesn’t translate to beings of higher power level than you though, so if it where a god that the camp didn’t like, you wouldn’t be able to sense it." He explained

Then he asked, if a softer tone "Is that what’s got you so worked up?"

Percy nodded. "There’s… this kid," he hesitated, not sure if he should tell Apollo.

The god nodded. "Go on."

Percy sighed. He’s gotten this far.

"Ebon, is his name. Unclaimed. He’s only 11, but just something about him… I don’t know, I have no reason to think that he’s up to something, but I do."

Apollo nodded. "I would trust your gut, don’t do anything rash until you have solid proof, but definitely keep an eye on him." The he grinned, standing up and extending the hand to help him up. "We thought you wouldn’t be that much of a threat when you were 12 too, but then you beat ares in a one on one combat"

Percy snorted, and allowed himself to be pulled up.

"Apollo." A voice said.

Both him and. Apollo turned to see Hermes, who has been missing all day.

But it wasn’t only Hermes, No.

In Hermes arms was a little girl, and when Percy said little he ment little. She was probably about 3 or 4 years old, she had chocolate brown hair and tan ivory skin. She was wrapped in a pink blanket, asleep in Hermes arms.

And over her head, in a soft light, was Hermes Symbol.

Percy couldn’t help but coo at the sight. "She’s so little." He whispered. Still a little dizzy, so he was leaning on Apollo for support.

Hermes nodded.

"Why did you bring her to camp?" Apollo asked. "She is way to young."

Hermes nodded again. "I didn’t know where else to bring her. There was a house fire and her mother died. She was in the hospital, and they were gonna put her in foster care, I didn’t want her to go through that so I went and grabbed her." The messenger got explained. "Apollo, I was hoping you could look her over? The hospital said she was fine, but I want to be sure."

Apollo nodded, letting go of Percy, and gently taking the little girl from Hermes arms.

"What’s her name?" Percy asked. Keeping his voice quiet as to not wake her.

"Tessa Molly. She just turned 4, last week."

Apollo cooed. "Poor thing. She seems unharmed, I sense the remnants of a little cut on her forehead, but the ER took care of it very well." Then he gave the little girl back to Hermes, who cradled her like she was glass in his arms.

"What do you plan to do with her?" Percy asked. The kid way far too young to stay at camp, especially without an adult.

Hermes sighed "Right now, I’m gunna take her to my cabin, introduce her to all her siblings, then go from there. Now with the laws lifted, I can take care of her most of the time. But I am still a god I have duty’s, I can’t be at her side 24/7."

Percy hummed in though. "Well, I over heard your year rounder kids saying that you offered for them to stay in one of your houses near by. That way you could take care of them if needed."

Hermes nodded.

"Raise her there, and bring her to camp when you can’t watch her. We can babysit, and we won’t just send her on activities, we will actually watch her." Percy said.

Hermes was silent for a moment, "You really think I could raise her?" He asked "I haven’t raised my own children in hundreds of years…"

Percy nodded. "I think you can. I even think it would be good."

After a moment, Hermes nodded, mostly to himself. "Yeah. Okay. I’m gunna take her to bed."

Percy gave him a soft smile. "Good"

"Speaking of demigods that should be in bed…" and Percy knew that voice.

He turned around and-

Fuck.

It was his dad.

Apollo chuckled awkwardly. "Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you I told your dad about you basically passing out. Have fun with that!"

Dammit Apollo.

He was immediately wrapped his father‘s arms and next thing he knew, he was in his cabin again.

Percy sighed, resigning himself to his fate.

Notes:

The Greek translation:

μικρή ξαδέρφη = Little cousin
(All Greek is google translate)

I had a lot of fun writing this one, I love exploring the relationship of Percy, Apollo, and Hermes. Because Apollo and Hermes are Brothers and Percy is their cousin, and now the laws have been lifted they can actually treat him like that.

My Headcanon that I am making canon is, that the children of Zeus do love their Demigod cousins/Siblings, they just don’t typically get along.

So the fact that they get along with the big three kids of this generation, makes them extremely happy.

(Maybe I should make an extra’s fic, with all my headcanons that I’m making canon, and my short stories)

Chapter Text

Percy looked over all the newbies and sighed.

The first lesson is always the hardest, he reminded himself.

Everyone was getting distracted by all cool stuff in the arena, so they wernt focusing. (ADHD) and Percy was trying really hard to be patience, but he was struggling.

They had been at this for an hour and he was supposed to go for an hour more, but he just didn’t know if he could do it.

The new Athena, Ares and Aphrodite kids we’re doing decent. But the only one who truly excelling was,

You guessed

Ebon.

He had put them in groups of two to practice stances, but it was clear to Percy that Ebon itched to do more.

So he sighed "Ebon" he called, catching the boys attention and waving him over.

The kid didn’t talk much, Percy had come to realize that over the course of the last 3 days.

Ebon approached Percy and looked at him questioningly.

Without a word, Percy took a defensive fighting stance, with riptide up.

He wanted to test his theory.

Just like Percy thought Ebon would, He lifted his training sword and went for a strike.

Percy could tell the kid was holding back. Ebon was a natural.

Percy only matched the boys level, making sure he didn’t go to hard on the kid.

As he studied Ebon’s fighting style, he realized how persistent the kid was.

When Percy blocked a strike, Ebon responded with a stab. When Percy backed away a bit, Ebon stepped forward, not letting him get an inch.

Percy was positive that he could beat the kid easily, even if the kid was actually started trying. But he was testing a theory, and his theory seemed corrected.

Just as Ebon Went in for a slash, Percy parried and threw Ebon of his Balance.

"That’s all for now" Percy said, and against his better judgment, he extended a hand to help the kid up. Good sportsmanship, and all.

The kid didn’t accept the hand, instead, getting up on his own and walking of.

An hour later Percy dismissed the class.

He stayed behind to clean up after the kids. That’s when Annabeth entered.

"Hey." She said, already moving to help him clean up without him asking.

"Hey." He responded. "What’s up?" He then asked

"Nothing, I just wanted to check on you. I know how the first lesson can be." She said with a teasing smile.

Percy snorted "I’ve seen worse. Most of them are showing good signs of being great fighters one day, but it will just take time for them to get the hang of it."

Annabeth nodded "Yeah, makes sense. Anyone who sticks out to you?"

Percy thought about for a moment, trying to think if there was anyone but Ebon that stuck out to him. "Uhh, Alina, Cabin 10. She’s got potential. I think she takes after Aphrodite’s war aspect. She’s still a little young, but I’d say give it a few years and she’ll be a master sword fighter." He explained

Annabeth hummed in thought, then asked "How did Ebon do?"

Percy had told her about his bad feeling about Ebon the morning after he talked with Apollo. He also told her about there connection with Camp Halfblood as an entity, they where both fascinated by it and planned to looked out for any weird feelings that may have to do with it.

Percy sighed "He’s a natural. If I didn’t want to avoid attention, I would bump him up a level or two. I still have no reason to think he is a trouble maker." He explained

"Do you think he had prior training?" Annabeth asked.

Percy threw his hands up in an 'no clue' gesture "The kid is only 11,  how could he have prior training?" Percy knew he was trying to convince himself.

Annabeth sighed "when you say he is a natural, what do you mean by that? Is it just like, holding a sword is instinctual to him? like it was with you? Or is it like, he knows how to do things you haven’t taught him yet, and he dose them well?" She asked

"The second one."

"Then he most likely has some prior training. From where, we don’t know.  It could be from anywhere, we know there of wild groups of people form our world in the city’s, he could be from there." Annabeth said.

Percy sighed "you probably right."

She smiled at him, dusting her hands as they finished cleaning. Then Walking over and kissing him on the cheek.

"Are you packed to go to Atlantis tomorrow? I know your schedule got shifted around, and that threw you off, so I wanna make sure you’re ready to go." She said leaning on the wall.

He shook his head. "I’m not packed, I was going to after dinner." Then he sighed. "I feel awful about leaving camp while everyone is on edge about the barrier." He leaned on the wall next to her

"Don’t be! We are all glad to see you hanging out with your dad. And you’ll be back on Saturday, so it’s not like you’re leaving for a long time, and you’re just a call away if we need you." She said with a smile "If anyone deserves this, it’s you." She added

Percy shook his head. "We all deserve it." He insisted

She rolled her eyes at him affectionately "Did I tell you my mom paid me a visit?"

He shook his head. "How did that go?"

She shrugged "Fine. She said she wasn’t going to push for anything yet, she said that  she knows she’s done alot of damage to our relationship and knows it will take time to repair. I told her I was willing to try." She said, leaning against his shoulder.

Percy smiled "That’s good. I’m proud of you your trying."

"Thanks. It was really hard to just listen to her when I had so much to say, but-" Annabeth was cut off, the sound of yelling and arguing in the distance.

He and Annabeth shared a look, then they began to, quickly but not rushed, make their way to the sounds of the yelling.

When they got there he saw Clarisse and Travis yelling at each other.

Percy didn’t really care about what they were yelling about, but what he did care about was the fact that a crowd was gathering and that Clarisse was beginning to shift her stance for a fight.

"Hey!" He didn’t shout, but he did raise his voice enough to carry over the yelling. His voice was strong and firm, and everyone in the area shut up.

"I don’t care what you two are yelling about." he saw Travis open his mouth to say something, but he raised his hand to keep him quiet. Travis shut up. "But what I do care about, is that you’re doing it in a public space. If you are gunna fight and argue, take it to the big house."

They both glared at him. "Don’t act all high and mighty, you know just because you’re the Hero-" Travis began, but he cut him off.

"Both of you. Big house." He shared a look with Annabeth, silently communicating.

She was gunna take Clarisse and he was gunna take Travis.

They made their way to the big house, he could hear foot steps following them, and when he turned around to see who it was, he saw Conner, Nico, Will and Pollux.

Good, more level head to out weigh the non level heads.

He opened the door to the big house, passing Chiron and Mr.D on the porch, The two gave the demigods a look, but didn’t say anything. Only silently standing up and following the group.

"Sit." He told Clarisse and Travis. Clarisse sat on the chair, and Travis sat on the couch, Connor sitting next to him.

Percy stood between the two, Annabeth at his side, and Pollux leaning against the wall across from Percy. Will and Nico sat on the smaller couch that was kinda diagonal from Clarisse.

(And Percy didn’t note the two, but Mr.D and Chiron where hovering by the door.)

The veteran Demigods had learned after the Second Titan war, that if they got mad at each other they needed to take it inside, so they didn’t cause tension. Even Clarisse followed this unspoken rule, so why it had been broken, Percy had no idea.

He sighed, "You two are Adults." He stared. "Some of the only adults in this damned place, you are both 19. So please, explain to me, what has yelling at eachother in the middle of camp like you are 14 again." He didn’t yell, didn’t raise his voice. Just kept a level head.

The both opened their mouths but Annabeth cut them off "Clarisse. You first." She said.

"Travis stared it. We just teasing each other, like we always do,  was telling him that he could never beat cabin 5 in capture the flag tomorrow. our normal banter you know?" Percy nodded

He knew. It was normal for Clarisse and Travis to playfully go at it about capture the flag.

"Right. But then Travis says that I was to dangerous to be in the game, because I get too violent. Which, okay, yeah, I did when I was a kid! But I know how control most of my anger now." She said, her voice only wavering slightly

"He also said I was a little bitch, and not in a joking way." She sounded frustrated and angry, but also confused.

Clarisse was often mistaken as over violent or in impulsive. Which sometimes she was, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as when she was a kid. And all of the Manhattan survivors knew not to bring it up, because it was a sensitive subject for her.

Percy sighed "Okay, Travis. What happened on your end." But he paused, taking a look at Travis, he looked absolutely devastated. Like he had just kicked a baby.

"I… I don’t know. One second we were bantering and, the next she just really annoyed me and I was saying those things. I’m sorry Clarisse, I shouldn’t have said that. I don’t know why I did. " Travis said, holding his little brothers arm for support.

"That doesn’t sound like something you would do Travis…" Conner said, voice quiet.

And Percy had to agree, yeah, Clarisse could be annoying sometimes, trust him, he knew.

But Travis was typically the more levelheaded out of the Stoll brothers. He would have typically just walked away.

It was then that Pollux stood up from where he had been leaning, silently on the wall. His eye briefly glowed purple, as he looked at Travis.

Percy tensed a bit at the realization that Pollux  was using one of his powers. The ability to sense someone state of mind, and if they were inflicted by some sort of emotion or mind magic.

Pollux didn’t use his powers often, he said it was because he didn’t want to invade anybody’s privacy, but that didn’t mean he hesitated when he thought it was necessary.

Pollux’s eyes went back to the dark blue that they were normally.  he hummed in thought, "Travis did you feel any tingles in the back of your mind before you got all pissy with Clarisse?" He asked

"Ummm, maybe? I don’t remember…"

Pollux hummed again, then he turned to his dad, Mr.D. "I think I’m sensing the faintest bit of some sort of emotion magic." He said to the god.

"Emotion magic?" Nico questioned from his place next to Will.

Mr.D walk forward, and Percy took a step back trowed Nico to make room.

Mr.D raised one of his hands. "Trever, do you mind?" He asked.

Travis rolled his eyes. "It’s Travis, But go for it."

Dionysus gently tapped his finger on Travis’s temple, and his face immediately hardened.

"I Believe you are right Pollux. It’s faint, but it’s there. I just removed the last of it," said the god.

"Wait what?" Will asked.

Mr.D sighed "Someone used some sort of charm magic to heighten negative emotions. But they only used it on Trever. Because I don’t sense any on Clara." He explained

"Who could have done that?" Annabeth asked.

Percy shrugged "Probably the same group trying to break in camp. But how could they get past the barrier…?"

Mr.D hummed. "All of the gods are on high alert, nothing should get past us. Apollo is always on watch, I have my own blessing around camp that allows me to feel everthing that enters and exits, and Hecate is listening around, and we haven’t heard anything."

"So we don’t know what happened or who caused this, but we know someone did cause it." Percy asked.

That god nodded.

"Travis who have you been around today?" Percy then asked, his voice a tad softer just because he could see the guilt on the son of Hermes face.

"Umm, cabin 11 mostly." He said.

"Did you see anything weird today?" Nico spoke up.

Travis shook his head.

Annabeth sighed "Well we have nothing to go on, so just everyone keep your emotions in check."

At that Moment  the door opened, and Hermes stepped in, Tessa gripping onto his hand, the little girl hasn’t wanted to leave her Dada’s side since she woke up the morning after she was found.

"What happened.” The god asked, shooting a  concerned look at Travis and Conner.

"We’ll give you guys some privacy. " Percy said, and waved the other Demigod out of the room. Mr.D and Chiron following.

But Percy couldn’t shake the feeling…

Before he left the big house, he turned to Mr.D. "Can you do me a favor?" He asked, his voice soft.

"Depends." Said the god

Percy sighed. "I’m going to my Dads tomorrow, after capture the flag, and I won’t be back at camp till afternoon on Saturday, and I just-"

"Percy, I gunna keep an eye on the camp while your gone." The god cut him off.

"I know, but-" he sighed again "I told Apollo already, but theres this boy, he’s only 11, unclaimed. His names Ebon, and I just… I have a feeling… I have no proof, no evidence, but my gut…" he tailed off.

Mr.D nodded. "I’ll keep an eye on him. He if he try’s anything, I’ll be on it."

"Thank you Dionysus."

"Always."

Percy is so stressed. Lol

Chapter 11: Atlantis

Summary:

Oh yeah, Percy thought. He was going to have fun with this.

Notes:

Chapter!!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Percy was sitting on his bed, anxiously waiting for his dad to pick him up.

He double checked his bag to make sure he had everything. Just for something to do with his hands.

Riptide, Check. Phone (that Leo had made waterproof yesterday), Check. Underwear, Check. Ambrosia, check. He packed it because Annabeth always said he should be prepared for anything.

Just as he was considering opening the phone and checking the time, his dad materialized in front of him.

He gave Percy a soft smile (like he always did) "Hello my son." He greeted

Percy smiled back, a nervous grin on his face. "Hey, dad."

"You all ready to go?"

Percy nodded.

His dad grabbed Percy’s hand, and gently pulled him close.

That’s something Percy had noticed with his dad, every time he touched Percy he was gentle and slow. It was odd, but not unwelcome. In fact Percy found that the slow and gentle movements made him relax.

He didn’t  know why it made him relax though.

It made him relax because he had no reason to expect a hit when the movement was slow.

”Close your eyes. This can be disorienting for those not used to it."

Percy heeded his dad’s advice and closed his eyes.

Teleportation was still dizzying even with his eyes closed. It pulled at him making his stomach turn. It felt pretty similar to shadow travel, but Percy thought shadow traveling was fun. He hated teleportation.

After the dizzying feeling stoped, he opened his eyes.

It was beautiful, they where standing (Floating?) on a mountain about half a mile from the city of Atlantis. Streets full of coral and stone built homes. And on the out skirts, where it got a little more mountainous, he saw houses stacked on top of each other, it made sense because they were underwater, gravity didn’t work the same way down here.

He could see some of the people of the city from here, and it was extremely diverse, more diverse than Percy expected.

He saw people with tails like mermaids, he saw people with more animalistic features, he saw sea nymphs in human form with scales spattering their cheeks. He saw mer people with green skin, purple skin, blue skin.

He thought the diversity was what made the kingdom shine.

And in the center of it all, there was a beautiful palace. Built with light green sea stone and marble pillars.

"Welcome to Atlantis" his father said.

Percy was in awe of the underwater city. "It’s beautiful." Percy whispered. He wanted to explore every little nook cranny of this place.

His dad smiled, seeming pleased that Percy thought so. "You’ll have time to explore the city later." He said, as if reading Percy’s mind. "For right now, let me show you the palace."

They made their way to the place, Poseidon’s hand resting on Percy’s back to guide him.

As they entered the palace, the two guards posted at the door bowed their head, "Good afternoon your majesty." They greeted. And Percy could tell the where soldiers when he saw them.

At first Percy assumed that most of the guards would be for show. But as Percy walked though the palace halls along side his father, he noted the occasional guard, and the guards noted him. Nothing malicious or anything, just noted.

And there wasn’t an obsessive amount of guards either, just a one or two here and there. Percy assumed most of the guards were out protecting the civilians.

But one thing Percy could tell for sure, is that all of the guards were well trained. Percy was sure that the whole palace would’ve been notified of his presence before he got here, but that didn’t change the fact that he was a stranger.

But Percy watched as each guard noted him, noted their kings gentle hand on his on his back, and labeled him as a non-threat.

Well trained indeed. (he ignored the fact that the occasional guard made him feel safer.)

As his father took him though the hallways, he explained that he wasn’t going to show him every inch of the palace right away, that there was too much to show. But he did show him how to get to the throne room, how to get to the council meeting room, how to get to the kitchen, and how to get to the courtyard.

"And here, is the Royal family privet living space." His dad said, opening up a double door at the end of the hall.

Two guards were posted on the outside of that door and they bowed their head and greeting, but didn’t say anything.

The doors closed gently behind them. "This section of the palace, only allows for select few servants to enter, it has its own kitchen and living space, as well as a private courtyard." The god explained. "It is also where all of the royal family sleeps. There’s a different section for other family members."

"Wait, who counts the royal family then?" Percy asked, slightly confused.

"Anyone who has a royal title in Atlantis. That includes myself and my wife. Crown prince Triton, the Princesses, Rhode, Benthesikyme, and Kymopoleia. and now you." He said, but noticed the look of confusion still on Percy’s face and clarified.

"You are, by my own ichor, a Prince of Atlantis and the seas. So by default, you have a royal title. In my kingdom you are Prince Perseus." He explained

Percy brain hurt. "I’m a prince here?"

Poseidon nodded, but then said "Technically you would need a coordination for you to have the authority that comes with the title, but I figured that wouldn’t be your preference.  But you have the title because I say you have the title, just not the power that comes with it."

Ah, that made sense. Percy had no need for power, so it didn’t really bother him all that much. "Alright, yeah that makes sense."

They continued on with the tour. Surprisingly the royal family‘s section of the palace was fairly modest compared to what Percy was expecting. The kitchen was pretty large, but not overly so. The living room had one big 'L' shaped couch with deep cushions and blankets neatly folded on the back, with a decent size flatscreen TV on the wall.

It was surprisingly homey

The courtyard was about a quarter of the size of the main courtyard, it had a fountain in the middle of it, along with a very nice garden to the side.

Then came the hallway of bedrooms. Poseidon and Amphitrite’s room was at the end of the hall, his room was to the left of that, directly across from him was Tritons room, and next to his room was Kym’s room. Next to Tritons room was Rhode’s, and next to Rhode’s room was Benthesikyme’s room.

When Percy entered is room, he found it to be fairly bland, there was a queen size bed against the wall that was made out of a greenish blue coral, and then a white dresser right next to what Percy assumed to be a bathroom door. And next to the bathroom door was a sliding door that opens up to a normally sized walk-in closet. And there was a nice window on the wall across from the door, letting in some natural light.

The room itself wasn’t huge ether, it was big for sure (quadruple the size of his room and his mom‘s apartment), but it still felt like a bedroom.

"You can decorate this room however you want, I left it bland for you to decide" his father said, scanning around the room as well, he almost looked nervous.

Percy smiled at his dad "I love it." He said, and found that he was being genuine. He was already thinking of ways he could make it feel like home. But Percy found that it already felt like home here.

In the heart of his father’s domain, Percy felt himself relax, and let his guard down. There was very little that could get to him down here, and even if something tried it would have to escape his father‘s watchful eye to get him.

It was getting late so eventually, his father took him to the privet kitchen to get some food.

But this time the kitchen wasn’t empty. Sitting at the table, was a Mer man with green skin and green scales on his cheeks and arms.

The man- No- God, Percy could tell by his demanding presence. Anyway. The god had green ish blue eyes that matched his own, and his same raven black hair. He was tall too. 7 feet at least.

Crown Prince Triton, Percy identified.

He was looking though some papers at the table, and looked up at the two entering the kitchen.

Tritons eyes immediately fell to the demigod but his face stayed neutral.

"Ah, Triton my son. This is Perseus." Poseidon introduced.

Percy waved and smiled. "Hi, it’s a pleasure to meet you."

The younger god glanced over Percy, as if sizing him up. Percy did his best not to squirm under the intense gaze.

"Pleasure." Triton said, then went back to his papers.

Okay… percy thought

Percy looked In the kitchen for some food, and he saw some food with his siblings names on them, and immediately got the memo to not put stuff in the fridge without your name on it. He found some food that he could eat and sat down at the table across from triton to eat it.

His dad had at at the head on the table with his own meal, making him in between Percy and Triton.

"Sooooo" Percy said. Triton ignored him. "What are you working on?" Percy asked. Triton ignored him.

Oh, Percy thought. He remembered his dad mentioning something about Triton not being 'particularly pleased' at him being in Atlantis.

And Percy (in his first ever younger brother observation.) realized that Tritons plan was to not talk to him while he was here.

Okay then, fine. If Triton wasn’t going to talk to him, Percy would make him talk. By being as annoying as possible. Normally, he would worry about being smite. But in the middle of his dad’s domain, with his dad here.

He didn’t think the Prince of the seas would do anything to him unless Percy actually crossed the line. (Which he wasn’t planning on doing, he was trying to be annoying, not an asshole.)

Percy hummed in though, looking Triton up and down. Then his eyes landed on his hair. "Did you know your hair is turning gray at the roots" Percy asked, in a cheery tone. He was lying about the grey, but he was trying to do his best impression of 10 year-old  Nico.

His father, who had been taking a sip of ambrosia, choked. Triton looked up, his face appalled.

Then Percy tsk’ed "Also that hair cut, man and I though my hair was bad, but yours" Percy sighed dramatically "unsalvageable"

His dad was doing his best not to laugh, but was failing miserably.

Triton glared at him "There is nothing wrong with my hair." He said shortly.

Oh yeah, Percy thought. He was going to have fun with this.

Notes:

This chapter was just mainly just the introduction to the kingdom of Atlantis. There will be more family dynamics in the coming chapters.
(I know that Poseidon’s castle is mythologically gold, but I decided to make it see green because it felt right)

Chapter Text

After successfully, annoying the hell out of triton, Percy went to bed.

He didn’t have any dreams that night, thank the gods. He woke up the next morning, did his hair, and put on decent clothes. The made his way to breakfast.

Sitting at the table was the entire royal family.

There was is father who was now in his mer form, standing at about 7 feet tall, green-ish blue scales on his cheeks and arms, and a matching tail, but his skin color stayed natural. He was still wearing that freaking Hawaiian shirt that Percy had a love, hate relationship with.

To his right was, who he assumed to be Amphitrite. She also had a mer tail, that was a faded blue with matching scales on her checks and arms. Her hair was long and brown, and it was flowing free in the water. Her eyes were the kind of blue you saw in clear coal reefs.  She wore a loose light blue drees, with a pearl necklace. She was about half a foot shorter the his dad.

She kinds looked like his mom… Dammit his dad had a type. Putting that thought away for another time…

Next to her was, who Percy guessed was Rhode, and she looked just like her mother, except her hair was tucked to a loose braid and she shared Percy’s Blueish green eyes. And her tail and scales were the same color as his dad’s, maybe a shade or two lighter. She was about 6 foot 4. Making her just a tad shorter the her mother, Amphitrite. She wore a light blue shirt the was loose at the leaves and laced up in the back.

And then Benthesikyme, Who had her mother hair and and eyes, but her dads scales and tail. She had tan skin and she was about 6 and a half feet tall, and wore a sleeveless pale purple tube top.

Then there was Kym. She had also taken on a mer form, rather then her octopus form. Her tail was a deep blue that faded into a bit of a purple at the fins, same with her scales. Her eyes also matching Percy’s. She was only a few inches shorter than his dad. Her hair was raven black, but some strands looked like purple jellyfish tentacles. She also wore a sleeveless tube top.

Triton was also at the table, but he was talking to Benthesikyme so he didn’t seem to notice him. Just as Percy was trying to figure out where he wanted to sit, Kym spotted him.

Kym was the only half sibling (aside from Tyson) that he has seen more than once. After they met last year, Percy had started making offerings to her. And occasionally they would meet up on the beach, barking the rules that gods were supposed to stay uninvolved, but neither of them cared.

They got along pretty well, but Kym did love to tease him about anything and everything. They also hadn’t told their father that they had been meeting up at the shore.

This was going to be an interesting breakfast.

"Percy! Sit next to me!" She shouted, "I heard you made fun of Tritons gray hair! Please tell me what you said to get him in such a bad mood, I must know"

All eyes turned to the demigod entering the kitchen. He tried not to shrink under the attention. Instead, he made his way over to Kym and sat next to her.

"I just told him that he had a bad haircut." Percy shrugged as he sat down.

Triton grumbled something Percy couldn’t make out.

Kym grinned "You’re so right, his hair is in desperate need."

Just as Percy opened his mouth to speak his dad cut him off. "I see you two don’t need introductions." Then he muttered something in a language that Percy couldn’t fully understand but instinctually recognized the Atlantan language. He can make out a little bit of what his father said but not word for word, something along the lines of 'There is two of them now.'

Amphitrite laughed softly at her husbands exaggerated sigh.

Then her eyes turned to Percy. "It’s a pleasure properly to meet you Perseus" she said.

She seemed to look at him as if looking for his secrets and all the things he didn’t want to be seen. And Percy was sure she saw more then she would ever let on.

"It’s a nice to meet you to, lady Amphitrite." He said, trying to be respectful,  "And you can just call me Percy." He quickly added on.

She smiled softly at him and didn’t say anything else.

"I’m Rhode, I’ve heard a lot about your Percy." She said.

Percy tried to resist making a face. "All good things I hope…?"

"I oversee the eastern coast, which includes New York and Rhode Island. The sea creature love to gossip." She clarified.

Percy nodded in understandable

"I’m Benthesikyme, nice to meet you Percy." Said the other goddess.

Percy nodded "Nice to meet you too"

Then Kym clapped her hands "Great, good, you all know each other. Now Percy." She gave him a grin that Percy knew ment trouble. "What are your thoughts on looking for Tritons hidden snacks?"

"Kym." Triton warned.

Percy looked between the siblings, analyzing. "…No." he decided. "I think that might be a line I don’t won’t to cross…" then he added "Yet."

Kym grinned at him "one day!"

Kym had always been easy to talk to, she understood him.

Understood the fear of being unlovable.

That’s why he tried to stick close to her side on his first full day in Atlantis. He couldn’t get a read on what the rest of the royal family of Atlantis thought of him, and that made him nervous.

Surprisingly (or unsurprisingly) it was Rhode who decided to talk one on one with him first.

Kym had left him in the court yard, saying she had to go grab something and to not go anywhere. He found his way to the garden. He didn’t touch anything, just looked.

He felt someone approaching, could feel the water shift around the form of mer women. So he wasn’t surprised when Rhode spoke.

"My mother and my sisters love this garden" she said. "It holds a lot of history."

Percy hummed, turning to look at Rhode "it’s beautiful." He said, he was curious about the history of the garden, but he didn’t push.

"I’ve heard a lot about you." She said, repeating what she had stated at breakfast.

Percy looked at her questioningly.

"I’ve heard that you are a great Hero. I’ve heard tales of your battle with the god of war, when you were 12. I heard whispers about your journey to the sea of monsters. Heard About the power you showed when you blew up Mount Saint Helens. And I heard how you led the Demigods in the battles that you faced." She told him.

Percy sighed. He hated being seen as a hero. He looked away from her slightly, turning back to the garden.

"But I’ve also heard that you saved countless sea creatures from nets along the coast. I’ve heard how respectful you are to the ocean nymphs. I’ve heard whispers that you take after our father’s gentler side. The side that guides lost ships to shore. The side that makes calm waves for children to play in." She said. She placed a hand on Percy should making Percy look up at her.

"At first, I expected you to be a powerful Hero. But looking at you, you’re a child." She didn’t say it like it was a bad thing. Just like it was an observation.

"I hate being a Hero." He muttered.

And Rhode smiled at him softly. But this smile was different than one his father often gave him. "Why?”

Why?

It wasn’t the responsibility, he didn’t mind that. It wasn’t the expectations, he didn’t care if he met people’s expectations. It wasn’t the danger, he’d been in danger his whole life, that didn’t bother him.

It was the pedestal that he was placed on. He didn’t feel like he deserved it. But he would never say that out loud. So he shrugged.

His lack of an answer didn’t seem to phase Rhode. In fact, her smile got bigger. "I think that you’ll find your place here.” She giggled

Percy gave her a confused look, scrunching up his nose and furring his eyebrows.

Rhodes eyes widened and her face softened "Oh my us. You make the same face as Triton when you’re confused! Except yours is like a baby seal!" She grabbed shoulders, looking at him.

"I’ve decided you’re officially my younger brother. Which I typically don’t do with demigods." She said. The looked past him "Kym!" She shouted "why didn’t you tell me he was like a baby seal?!"

"Awe dang it! You figured out how cute our baby brother." Kym  whined from behind him, just coming back. "now I don’t get to keep him all to myself."

"What is happening?" He asked, looking between the sisters

Kym patted his shoulder. "Don’t worry. This is the natural course of things. You’re gonna slowly be adopted by the whole family just wait."

Rhode nodded in agreement, then she gasped. "Just wait till mom sees his confused face. It’s over then."

What had he’d gotten himself into?

Notes:

Percy, Percy, Percy. Just wait. Soon enough you’re gonna have three big sisters that would kill for you. (And soon, maybe a big brother too.)

Next chapter on July 21. (I got busy. I’ll try to post tomorrow, but don’t expect it)

Chapter Text

After escaping the grasp of his sisters Rhode and Kym, he found himself back in his room.

He was tryin to figure out how he wanted to decorate. His dad said he could do whatever he wanted, so he had a few ideas, but he would have to go back to camp to grab some stuff.

The day was still young, early after noon. So he wasn’t too surprised when someone knocked on his door. "Come in!" He said, loud enough so the person on the other side could hear.

Opening the door was Amphitrite. He began to stand up from his bed, but Amphitrite put a hand up, "Please sit. There is no need for the formalities." She gave him a kind smile and he sat back down.

Then she gestured to the spot next to him on his bed. He scooted over to make room for the goddess.

She sat down next to him and didn’t waste any time before speaking. "I want you to know I have no problem with you being here."

"I never thought you did Lady Amphitrite." He said, his voice soft.

She just smiled at him "while that might be so, it doesn’t hurt to say it out loud. And if I am calling you 'Percy' you can call me just, 'Amphitrite'."

Percy nodded, and she took that as the go ahead to continue.

"I hold no ill will toward my husbands offspring, unless they give be reason to."

Percy did his best to keep his face neutral, but this was a Queen, and she saw right though his face card and straight to his nerves.

"And you have yet to give me a reason too. In fact, I find that I quite like you. And while it is rare a dislike my husbands offspring, and even more rare that I like them" she explained

"Why are you telling me this?" Percy asked, because he was growing more and more confused.

She sighed "You are the first Demigod my husband has had in a long time. And he cares for you, deeply. And he worries about you when you are not in his sights. He worries you will not call for aid, if you need it." Amphitrite explained.

Percy must have made a face, because Amphitrite laughed softy. "So, I am making sure you know that you can not only call him if you are in trouble, but me as well."

This made no sense to him. Why was his dad’s family being so nice to him, did his dad ask them to be? Percy decided to voice his thoughts "Why are you all being so nice to me?" His voice was smaller than he would have liked.

Amphitrite made a face, one that Percy could not decipher. But the next time she spoke her voice was considerably softer. "Why shouldn’t we be nice to you?" She asked.

Percy spluttered "Because I’m a bastard child? Because you have no reason to be nice to me."

The goddess looked at him, as if analyzing him. She seemed to come to some sort of conclusion.

"You do not have to prove yourself to me child." She said. And Percy went to protest, to say that, that wasn’t what he was doing. But it was what he was doing, wasn’t it?

She ignored Percy’s attempted at interjection "You do not need to earn my respect, you have it. Just like I obviously have yours."

"…Why?" Whispered the boy.

"Well aside the fact that you have done feats that are thought to be impossible. You are a child." She raised her hand to silence him, seeing him about to interject. "You are 17. The legal age of adulthood on land is 18, and you are not fully grown till you are 25. Therefore, you are a child." She sighed "And in my mind, children have nothing to prove, only things to learn."

Percy kinda felt like crying, but he didn’t know why. So he shoved it down. "Why do you care…?" He hated the way his voice cracked.

She smiled at him, offering him a hand to hold. He, against his better judgement, took the hand.

She ran her thumb over his knuckles, in comfort. "I am, the Queen of the Seas, and a Mother. I can tell when one of the sea’s own- and a child- is struggling to stay afloat." She whispered "Your father struggles to understand why you are struggling to swim, but I know that sometimes, your arms just get too heavy to move."

Percy wasn’t crying, but he was close. He needed to change the subject. "So dad sent you in here to talk to me?" He asked, and he didn’t mean for in to come out as an accusation, but it kinda did.

Thankfully, the Queen off the seas didn’t seem to take offense. "No, he didn’t. I could tell you are having trouble figuring out where we all stood when it came to you. So I thought I would set the record straight before you had time to spiral."

Oh.

"Oh." He voiced, then he asked "What gave it away?"

She chuckled "You are like your father in many ways. He also tends to spiral when things are not clear. And you get the same tension in your shoulders that he dose."

Percy laughed, thinking about how many times Annabeth has said that’s how she tells if he’s stressed.

She seemed curious at his laughter, so Percy explained "My girlfriend, Annabeth, she always says that’s where I hold my burdens, it’s just funny to be called out so blatantly"

She chuckled. "Well, I have duty’s to attend to. Just know that if you need anything, you can come to me"

The next few hours went on easily. His sisters Rhode and Kym found him again, and they all talked some more, Benthesikyme joined them at some point, and she told Percy that he could call her Ben.

After hanging out with his sisters (okay fine they were his sisters now, they just all clicked so well together) in the garden, a servant eventually came to them and said it was time for dinner.

They ate dinner, teased triton some more. And then Percy made his way to his bed. He was stoped in the hall by his dad before he could get to his room.

"Percy."

Percy turned and saw his dad. "Hey." He smiled

"I’m sorry I haven’t been around today, I was called to Olympus."  The god said

Oh no. "Why?” He asked, wearily.

His dad sighed "The group that you have had visions of, attempted another attack on camp, Hecate saw it coming. They caught sight of Akhlys leaving the area, but she got away."

Percy inhaled "Fuck." He whispered. He saw triton come around the corner but he stoped when he saw Percy and their father talking in the hall.

Percy paid him no mind. "Everyone is safe? No one was hurt? Annabeth, Nico, Jason?"

Poseidon nodded "All demigods are safe, the attack was just on the barrier. Nothing made it in."

A weight lifted off of Percy shoulders. "Has anyone tried to go after Olympus yet?" He asked

His dad shook his head. Then he sighed. "Athena thinks it’s because our enemy knows we are weaker without demigods, so they want to take you and your friends out first."

Percy nodded. Then muttered, mainly to himself. "I need to make the older kids go though mass casualty drills before the solstice." he sighed "okay thank you for the update dad."

"Of course, try to sleep son."

Percy made eye contact with Triton, who was looking at him curiously. After moment of silence, Percy went to his room.

The second His head hit his pillow he was out.

And unfortunately (or fortunately) he dreamed.

"I don’t know why they are protecting their offspring my lord. They have never done this before, never so fiercely. I believe I even saw Ares and Athena around the barrier. They haven’t taken their eyes of of it, not for a second. We need a distraction."

It was only Akhlys and the unknown figure in the dark room right now.

"You are of no use to me right now, be gone till I summon you again."   The figure cloaked in shadow waved his hand, and Akhlys evaporated. "Eris, come to me."

Eris, Goddess of discord and strife, materialized in the room.

"Has your son prevailed?” Asked the figure.

Eris made a face "In a way. He says that the laws forbidding the gods from interacting with their children were abolished. So that explains why they haven’t taken their eyes off of the barrier."

The figure hummed "Has he succeeded in creating rifts between the demigods?"

Eris made another face, this one angry "The sea brat shuts down any fights the my son causes, and my son also says Perseus’s will is strong, he hasn’t been able to piece though it yet. Same thing with his lover. And even with the sea brat at his fathers, and away from the camp, his lover and the ghost king shut down any fights."

The figure sighed angrily. "Akhlys is right, we need a distraction…" the figure hummed. "Tell your son to wait till the summer solace… we are gonna go after the heart of camp Halfblood, brake the demigods will…"

Percy woke up with a start, breathing heavily.

It was still the middle of the night, but Percy replayed the dream in his head.

"Has your son prevailed?"

Eris had a son, who was in camp. There was only one unclaimed boy at camp Halfblood… Ebon.

"the summer solstice, we are going to go after the heart of camp Halfblood"

Percy jumped out of his bed.

How long did they have till the solstice.

He opened his phone looking through his calendar.

13 days. The solstice was on the 21st.

"Fuck, okay." Percy whispered.

Percy got out of bed and rushed to his dad’s office, where Percy knew he would be this early in the morning.

He had to get back to camp, had to tell everyone about Ebon.

Ebon, Son of Eris.

Notes:

This chapter kind of jumps around a little. We don’t get much time in Atlantis for this first little bit. But now that Percy has met the sea fam, you can expect to see a lot more of them.

I think Triton is such an interesting character, right now he’s just observing Percy, trying to understand him…

Perhaps Percy reminds him of someone… (iykyk)

Next chapter out tomorrow!

Chapter 14: Taking action

Chapter Text

Percy knocked on the door to his dad’s office, waited till he heard, "Come in." And entered.

In the office, Percy saw his dad and Triton working on some sort of papers.

"Percy." His father greeted "Why are you awake? It’s the middle of the night" his dad glanced out the window "or early morning I suppose."

"I had another vision about the group of beings attempting to break into camp half blood."

He had his dad’s full attention now. "What did you see?"

Percy inhaled "Eris has a son in camp. And they are planning something on the solstice. Dad, they said they were going to go after the Heart of Camp."

"Do you know which Halfblood is her son?" Poseidon asked.

Percy nodded "there’s only one unclaimed boy in camp, Ebon." Percy made a face "Dammit, I knew something was off about the kid, I could feel it in my gut, it was so obvious. Of course he’s Eris’s son, I’m such an idiot." He muttered

Percy was running though all the signs that were there in his head. Ebon having prior training, the emotion magic, the fact that now that Percy looked back on it, Ebon was in the background for every fight that had been happening in camp.

He knew that Eris was working against them, and he saw the kid in his first dream. It was painfully obvious.

He was so stupid. How could he have missed it?

"Put that aside for now son, if Apollo is right and you see things that are happening elsewhere that means we still have time. I am going to send you back to camp and you are going to collect Ebon, and then Dionysus will bring you both to Olympus. I’m going to go inform the olympians" his dad said. He looked at Percy and sighed, "be carful son"

Percy nodded. "I will be"

Poseidon put a hand on Percy shoulder and teleported him to the sound.

Percy swam the hundred yards to the docks and ran to cabin 11, where he knew Ebon was.

But half way there, he saw Ebon, leaving cabin 11. They made eyes contact…

And Ebon bolted.

Percy ran after him. Uncapping riptide, because no one-

No one.

Messed with his camp and got away with it.

Ebon was really fast.Percy was able to keep up with him, but barely gained any ground on the kid.

At this point, they had run all the way into the woods. "Ebon! Stop this. We can talk this out if you stop running!" Percy yelled.

Ebon didn’t respond.

he’s focusing on running, Percy thought.

Smart boy.

It helped that they were in the woods, because Percy knew his way around better than Ebon.

So he started to gain on the kid.

Slowly gaining more ground, as Ebon grew more.

Till finally, they were only 10 feet apart.

They must have ran for a mile at full speed because, even Percy was out of breath.

And they were both starting to falter.

And that’s probably why Percy didn’t expect Ebon to stop running, and draw a sword, from a place Percy couldn’t see.

(Probably a magic sword like riptide, stowed away out of sight)

The sword was Stygian iron, like Nico’s. But where Nico’s had a black hilt, Ebon’s was silver.

The kid dropped into a defensive stance and Percy stopped running, about 5 feet away from the kid, just in range.

Instinctively, Percy immediately looked for the flaws in the defensive stance. He didn’t want to fight this kid, but he would if he had too. (He hated fighting kids)

Percy didn’t take any stance. Just stood there with his sword loose in is hand, trying not to seem to threatening, but it probably didn’t do much.

Ebon knew that it would only take Percy a split second to switch up and attack.

"Kid-" Percy started.

"I’m not a kid." Ebon cut him off, voice full of hate.

"Ebon." Percy amends. "Listen. You probably think you don’t have a choice but to help these people. But you do. If you surrender, you can come with me and talk to the Olympians and we can figure something out. I’ll help you."

Ebon paused "or?" he asked

Percy sighed "Or. you can fight me, I’ll win. Then I’ll bring you to the Olympians anyway, and I’ll still try and help you"

The kid scoffed "I thought they said your fatal flaw was loyalty. You saying you’re gonna win, sounds pretty prideful to me."

There was something about the kids voice, something that reminded him of Pipers charm speak. But this only made him mad.

He’s a son of Eris. Percy reminded himself.

Eris is the god of Discord and Strife. The kid is probably doing something to mess with his emotions, to make him mad, to throw him off his game.

It kind of remind him of Ares aura. Except this was weak in comparison to that.

Percy took a breath and calmed himself, not letting the kid’s emotion magic get to him.

"I say I’ll win because, I have been training for almost 6 years, and I can see multiple faults in your stance that would only take me a few seconds to take advantage of." Percy explained "Your a good fighter Ebon. But the best fighters know how to identify a loosing battle."

Ebon let a humorless laugh "You think you can beat me? Let’s test that."

Ebon lunged.

Percy blocked with a sigh. He was really hoping he wouldn’t have to fight this kid.

Percy turned, throwing Ebon of his balance.

Ebon recovered, and Percy noticed a faint glow on his hand and in eyes. He was doing some sort of magic.

The next time Ebon attacked, Percy had a hard time dodging. Like his limbs went sluggish.

Ebon attacked with a new ferocity, Percy barely managed to block and dodge the hits. But one slash caught him in the leg, In the same spot Luke hit him years ago.

It was a shallow cut, so Percy stayed standing. But it stung.

Ebons eyes and hands stoped glowing, and Percy limbs no longer felt sluggish.

So this time, Percy went on the offensive. He went for a low strike, Ebon managed to parry. Then quickly Percy’s other hand went to grab Ebon sword wrist.

Ebon tried to react, but Percy was faster than him.

Percy twisted Ebons wrist and Ebons sword dropped.

Ebons eyes went wide as he realized he had lost. "Wha- You didn’t even use your sword!" Ebon really sounded like a kid now. Loud and whinny, and scared.

Percy sighed "The second thing I taught you in sword fighting is, that it’s not the sword that’s coming at you. It’s the person. And if I used my sword, I would’ve actually hurt you. And I don’t want to do that."

"Gah! Let me go!" The kid yelled.

Percy sighed, tired. "I’m not gunna do that."

Ebon thrashed and screamed. Percy only gently grabbed his other wrist keeping Ebon from hitting Percy. Percy dropped into a crouch in front of Ebon, letting the kid scream.

After a minute, Ebon stoped yelling and Percy sighed again. "Come on, let’s get you to the big house. We have some Gods to talk to."

Percy stood up, and all of a sudden, the hairs on the back of his neck stood up, and Ebon Smiled.

"I’m afraid you’re not going anywhere."

Percy let go of Ebon, uncapped riptide once again, and whipped around to be met with.

Akhlys. Goddess of Misery and Pain, as well as poison.

Percy dropped into a defensive stance, immediately looking for any advantages he might have.

But there was no water. He was in the middle of the woods, and he was already tired.

He didn’t stand a chance, he knew it. And Akhlys knew it.

The goddess of misery, laughed. "You really shouldn’t wander out of the camp barrier with out proper protection. And now nobody can sense you, I have hidden all of our presences. No one is coming to save you."

Percy hadn’t even realized he had run all the way outside of camp borders. He was so focused on catching Ebon…

Percy was terrified. And no one was coming to help him.

"You know, when my Πατριός said that you would immediately come to collect Eris’s brat after seeing it in your dream, I almost didn’t believe him. But here you are, as expected"

They knew. Percy realized.

The figure had seen Percy a second time, but didn’t say anything. The figure knew Percy had seen him talk to Eris, and knew Percy would immediately take action. Then he told Ebon to run, and lead Percy outside of camp so Akhlys could get him.

It was the perfect trap.

He had walked right into it.

"It’s time for you to reap what to sow Perseus." Akhlys said.

It was then that Percy realized something that made his blood run cold.

He had turned his back on Ebon.

And the kid took advantage of that. Hitting Percy on the back of the head with the flat of his sword.

The hit knocked him down to his Knee’s. It made his vision spin.

Riptide fell out of his grasp.

It wouldn’t return to him, if it was in it’s sword from.

Riptide had to be in pen form to come back to his pocket. But there wasn’t anything he could do about it, his head was too spiny.

Akhlys grabbed him by th chin, forcing him to look in her eyes. Her eyes where soulless

Percy felt true fear. He could only hope, that he could survive what ever Misery had planed for him.

He hoped that they didn’t go after Annabeth.

The last thing he saw before blacking out, was his impending doom.

Akhlys mythology is very unclear, most sources I’m seeing say she is Nyx’s daughter. But there’s a couple other sources that say she is born directly from Khaos.

So I took some creative liberties and say that she is Nyx’s Kid, But Nyx’s had the help of Khoas when creating her.

Making Akhlys still a primordial goddess, but a younger than the primordial’s born directly from Khoas.

Next chapter out tomorrow!!

Chapter 15: Blood in the Water

Summary:

Athena spoke up then "What is the heart of camp?" She asked "I believe that is the one thing that doesn’t make senses"

Another short chapter :)

Chapter Text

Poseidon made his way to to Mt. olympus.

He had told Hermes to get the other Olympians, so Poseidon could tell them what Percy had seen.

His younger brother, Zeus, had not been pleased about having to call an emergency meeting, but didn’t put up much of a fight.

Not even ten minutes went by before all the Olympians were sat in their throne.

His older brother Hades was also here, Zeus had finally began to invite him to these meetings, and the king of the underworld seemed to actually care what happened at camp, so he showed up to any meeting that had to do with that.

And as always Hestia sat at the hearth, silently listening.

"Poseidon." Demeter started, "Why have you called us here"

Poseidon steeled  himself "My son, Percy, has had another vision." He saw Apollo sit up in his throne. "He had the vision not but 15 minutes ago."

"What did he see?" Apollo asked

"He didn’t say anything in detail, only the important stuff that requires immediate attention." Poseidon said, gauging the reactions of the others

"He said that they said, they are planning something on the summer solstice. And that they plan to strike the heart of camp."

Dionysus, Hermes, and Apollo all tensed. He noted

"He also said Eris has a son at camp. E-"

"Ebon?" Dionysus cut him off.

The king of the seas nodded.

"Uncle, did you send Percy to get Ebon?" Hermes asked

"Yes, I was getting to that. I told him to collect him and bring him to the big house. Where I was hoping Dionysus could bring them both here."

Athena spoke up then "What is the heart of camp?" She asked "I believe that is the one thing that doesn’t make senses"

There was a second of silence as the gods contemplated that.

The silence didn’t last for more than a second though.

All at the same time. Apollo gasped, Hermes paled, and Dionysus tensed.

"Percy and Annabeth" they all three said at the some time.

"What?" Athena asked, raising her brows

"Percy and Annabeth are the Heart of camp. They’re the ones that keep everybody’s morale high. The ones that know everybody’s names. The leaders. By us, they even have a bond with Camp Halfblood herself." Apollo said.

Dionysus nodded "they’re definitely the heart of camp"

Poseidon opened his mouth to say something, but faltered, because- that wasn’t right…

He paused, taking a moment to feel, and-

Poseidon felt his ichor run cold.

Poseidon was a king and a god. But he was also a father, and he could always feel his children’s presences in the back of his mind.

He could feel Triton, Rhode, Ben, Kym, and Percy. They all different had a different presence, different feelings to them, but they were all a constant buzzing. Something a sliver of himself always had an eye on.

So when Percy’s presence become clouded he noticed immediately, and froze with fear.

He couldn’t sense his son.

"Poseidon?" Hades questioned, a bit of concern in his tone.

Poseidon ignored him, focusing. Trying to find where his son- his youngest- his little boy , was.

He could still feel him (barely), so he wasn’t dead. But Poseidon couldn’t tell where he was, or if he was injured-

Khaos, his littlest’s presence was so shrouded that, he doubted even if Percy were to pray to him that he would hear.

"Brother?" Zeus questioned when he didn’t respond to Hades.

Poseidon inhale. Forcing himself to not show his internal panic. "Can any of you sense Percy? I can no longer feel his presence, only that he is alive." He voice was firm, in a way that he hoped didn’t show how scared he was.

(They all saw the fear in his eyes)

It was like a switch was flipped. No one could tell where Percy was.

No one had been paying attention to him, Focused on the meeting.

Dammit! Whatever just happened, had slipped right under the Olympians noses.

"But no one entered camp I would have been able to tell!" Apollo shouted.

"They don’t need to enter camp, they just need Percy to leave." Dionysus said, standing up. "We need to start looking, for all we know Percy could be fighting them right now. I’m going to wake up the older Demigods and set up search party’s." With that, the god of madness flashed away.

"Artemis, Apollo, Ares, Aphrodite. We need to check the perimeter of camp." Athena said, also flashing off. The others following her example.

Demeter stood, "I’ll see if the Dryads have seen anything." And she also flashed off.

Hephaestus flashed off after her. Poseidon didn’t know what the forge god was doing.

Hades stood. "I am going to check every shadow." He walked over to Poseidon. "We will find your demigod, brother." And he flashed off.

Zeus and Hera  also stood. "I will see if anybody has heard anything." Hera said, also flashing off.

"Hermes, go help the Queen spread the word." Zeus said.

Hermes flashed off.

Him and Zeus shared a look. "We will find him." Said the god king, before flashing off too.

At this point, his daughters had noticed the missing demigod, and were beginning to panic.

All those off the sea had a bond. But the royal family could always feel each other’s presence in the back of their minds.

They didn’t know when Percy had become one of the presences that the royal family felt in their personal bond. (Perhaps he had always been there.)

He calmed his daughters, urging them to search the waters around camp., as he went to do the same.

They were going to find his son. His Θαλασσινός αφρός.

It only took 45 minutes to find some sort of sign of him. But it felt like eons.

Poseidon and his daughters had searched the waters around camp twice and were about to start looking further out.

He knew that the others were searching hard on land too. He knew that the Demigod’s had spit into teams of 3-5 and were searching.

He knew, that there were only three teams, out of the ten, that were allowed to leave camp borders.

(he wished there were more but understood why there could not be.)

The teams allowed outside the barrier were; Ares’s daughter’s team, he believed her name was Clarisse. Then one of Demeter’s daughters was leading the second team, he didn’t know her name. And the third team was lead by…

Annabeth. Athena’s pride and joy, but most importantly, his son’s lover.

So that’s why he wasn’t surprised when it was Athena’s voice that rang in his head.

'We have found something, come to me.'

He told his daughter’s they had a possible lead, and flashed away.

Here’s the scene  Poseidon flashed in on.

They’re in the middle of the woods, about 1.6 miles away from the sound.

Athena was standing near a tree, Investigating the perimeter. Artemis was following her lead opposite of her. And Apollo was standing near a group of Demigods, all of whom Poseidon recognized.

There was Jupiter’s son, Jason Grace, who was a champion of Hera. He was crouched down near the ground.

Then there was the boy who had defeated Gaia by blowing himself up, Leo Valdez, if he remember correctly. The son of Hephaestus had a hand on Jason’s shoulder, obviously trying to comfort.

Next to Jason, also crouched down, was Hades son, Nico d’Angelo. Who was reaching out, going to place his hand on the arm of-

Annabeth Chase. She was on her knees, and Poseidon couldn’t see her eyes, but he could feel the salty water leaking from them.

And in her hands (holding it very gently), laying across her lap was Ανακλυσμός. Riptide

Percy’s sword.

Poseidon inhaled. "Annabeth." He said softly

Her head snapped up and her eyes met his. Unwavering.

She had a dark look on her face and tears in her eyes.

It was a look Poseidon knew well.

A look that promised vengeance.

The girl stood. Still holding riptide.

She looked at the sword, before tapping the point of it.

The sword retreated back into pen form. Annabeth held the pen with an open palm and met his eyes again.

"We are getting him back." She said, her voice solid despite the tears in her eyes.

"No matter what." Poseidon responded, without hesitation.

It was a hope, a goal. A promise made between a father, and a lover.

They would not falter. Percy will be back in his lover’s arms soon, if Poseidon could help it.

Percy will return to the sea.

To his family.

Notes:

Θαλασσινός αφρός. = Seafoam.
(All Greek is Google translate)

We god our first God pov!
We’re now at the part of the story where I’m gonna start switching the pov around :)

Fun fact!
Poseidon has a nicknames for all of his children! here’s what they are, and why he calls them that;

Triton - Ρουφήχτρα = whirlpool. (Quick and unpredictable.)

Rhode - Κοχύλι = Seashell (diverse, and beautiful)

Ben - Μικρό κύμα = Little wave (Deceptively powerful)

Kym - Μικρός τυφώνας = Little hurricane. (Untamable force)

Percy - Θαλασσινός αφρός = Seafoam (the softest parts of the ocean. (Percy is also called this because mortal life is fleeting just like Seafoam))

Another fun fact that pisses me off.

'Ανακλυσμός' not a real Greek word! It is unique to the Percy Jackson books!

I did some research and I don’t actually think there is a word for 'riptide' in Greek

There’s a word for Tide (παλίρροια) , but not riptide!

Anyway, enough of my rambling.

Don’t expect the next chapter until Monday July 28th. I got stuff I have to do over the weekend, and I need to backlog a few chapters.

We’re starting to get into the final stretch now! So be patient :)

Chapter 16: I had a sister… (Her name, was Pallas)

Summary:

the aura of the ocean around her was enough to keep her nerves from fraying more, but she was still lost to the endless whirlpool that is anxiety.

Notes:

I DID IT! I POSTED BEFORE MONDAY! AND ITS A FULL CHAPTER! ITS NOT SHORT! *falls asleep*

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Annabeth didn’t sleep that night. Poseidon had told her she was welcome to stay in cabin 3, at least until they got Percy back.

the aura of the ocean around her was enough to keep her nerves from fraying more, but she was still lost to the endless whirlpool that is anxiety.

So she didn’t sleep. Couldn’t

Too lost in the memory’s.

Percy Jackson was her everything. And now he was missing again, taken from her by Pain and Misery herself. There was no one else who could’ve taken him.

She thought back, to shortly after they had gotten out of that terrible place…

Percy had held her after yet another nightmare, whispering reassurances that he was here, that nothing could get to her while she was in his arms.

Annabeth was an independent woman. She didn’t need anybody, let alone a man, to keep her safe. But that didn’t mean that she didn’t want to be protected… to be held, by her love. To be told she was safe…

And she had done the same for Percy, held him after sleepless nights, told him that it’s okay, that she’s here.

But now she wasn’t there. Now he was all alone, and in Akhlys grasp.

They had no clue where he was. But they knew where he wasn’t.

He wasn’t in the pit, they knew that because Poseidon explained that he could feel Percy even when he was in the pit, it wasn’t a strong, but he could.

No, Poseidon had said this felt like Percy was being purposely hidden from him. And Hecate confirmed it, after they had briefed her on the situation.

Percy’s presence was buried in a mountain of mist. Hecate said that she would work to brake down said mist, but it would take time, because there was something else aside from the mist keeping him hidden, but she said she could put her finger on it.

Hecate said that if she was able to brake the mist down, that Poseidon might have an easier time locating him.

At least, that was the hope. They were only working off of guesses and context clues here.

They had told Thalia, Grover, Hazel, and Frank the night he had been taken. they were all pissed and worried, and they were all on the way to camp, Thalia pushing up the Huntresses arrival almost a full two weeks, so they could help look for Percy.

They would find him. It was just a matter of when, and if they could do it before she broke him.

No, Annabeth told herself. She couldn’t have these thoughts, she has to stay focused.

When all seems hopeless, I just try and find some humor in the situation. No matter how small.

Percy had told her that during one of their many talks about their pasts. (She thinks he told her this, after he told her about Gabe.)

Find the humor… Hmm. It was hard to find the humor in the situation, but somehow, she managed.

Leo had made a new group chat… called 'Operation; Where is Percy?' And there were so many people in the chat. Mainly because Leo just sent out a new round of phones, like two days ago. And most of the gods were also in the chat.

In Short. It was a large group chat.

It was mainly created because, while the Demigods could pray to their parents to get information out, their parents either had to come talk in person, or send them a message.

Hence, the group chat. It was practical, and Annabeth could see that. But she couldn’t help but laughs at it.

She had a feeling that 'Operation; Where is Percy' will still be used even after they get him back. Just because Percy had a habit of wandering off. She is pretty sure it’s to do with his ADHD. Sometimes he’ll just walk off and nobody will know where he is.

She laughed.

She missed him. He had only been gone for 1 day, 2 hours and 8 Minutes. But she missed him.

As if on cue, 'Operation; Where is Percy' dinged.

She sighed and opened her phone, planning to just lurk in the chat. Will had forced her to take a nap and he wouldn’t be happy if he found out she was still awake.

~Operation; Where is Percy?~

Twin2# (Apollo): Updates; I’ll go first. Hecate is starting to make a little bit of progress on chipping away the mist covering him up. It’s not a lot, but it’s a little bit.

Archery.Girl (Kayla): CHB scouts spotted some unusual monster activity outside the barrier last night. Could just be a coincidence.

Mr.D (Dionysus): Who scouted last night?

Archery.Girl (Kayla): I did, Along with Austin and Sansa

Twin2# (Apollo): Thank you Kayla. Now, try and go take a nap sweetheart :).

Archery.Girl (Kayla): [Thumbs up]

Twin2# (Apollo): Anyone else? no update is still an update, so say something even if it’s no change.

Ghost_King (Nico): Nothing on my end of things.

Misty_Magical (Lou): Same here. No weak spots that I’ve spotted.

Lavender~Haze (Hazel): Frank and I are 3 hours out.

RawRaw (Rayna): I’m staying at CJ in case he shows up here. I’ve also told the Amazonian to be on the look out for him. I don’t think they’re gonna actively look, but they’ll let me know if they see any sign of him.

GoatBoy (Grover): I’m still like 10 hours away. The empathy link is stained, but I can still feel him though it. I might be able to pin down a location like we did when he went missing the first time, but I have to be at CHB to get Lou’s help with that.

Hurricane!Bitch (Kym): Can you tell how he is doing though that?

GoatBoy (Grover): Kinda..? He’s always been hard to read, even with the link. And it’s really clouded right now. He’s definitely feeling stuff, so I think it’s safe to say that he’s conscious. But I can’t get any thoughts or define feelings.

Glowstick (Will): that’s a good sign if he’s conscious. Knowing Percy, he’ll do everything he can to get himself out

Miss.chase (Annabeth): "The sea does not like to be restrained" Percy is smart. If he see’s an opening, he’ll take it.

C.LaRue (Clarisse): ANNABETH CHASE, IF YOU DO NOT GO TO SLEEP I SWEAR!

Glowstick (Will): Annabeth! GO TO SLEEP! Oh my gods, how are you still awake?!?!

Beauty~Queen (Piper): Go to bed Chase!

God.Of.Love (Aphrodite): @Wise.Owl   get your daughter to go to bed.

Miss.chase (Annabeth): don’t bring my mother into this!

Wise.Owl (Athena): go to bed Annabeth.

Miss.chase (Annabeth): fine.

(Annabeth did not go to sleep. She continued watching group chat. So what if she hadn’t slept at all since Percy went missing, she was not fine.)

LiteralTree (Thalia): Huntresses are still a day out. We haven’t seen any sign of him yet.

Twin1# (Artemis): Stay safe out there Thalia. If you see trouble, pray to me, don’t fight. we can’t bare lose anybody else right now.

LiteralTree (Thalia): [Thumbs up]

Twin1# (Artemis): Also @Twin2#  I found a few drops of blood where we found Perseus’s sword (I was doing another sweep of the area). Can you come and see whose it is? There may not be enough blood to tell anything, but I think it’s worth a shot.

Twin2# (Apollo): otw. I’ll see what I can find out. Thank you everyone for the updates. Please let this chat know if you find anything.

IslandRhode (Rhode): @Twin1# @Twin2# Where are you guys? No matter how little blood there is, if I touch it I can tell if it’s Percy’s blood or not.

Twin1# (Artemis): I’ll ping you Rhode.

R.E.D (Rachael): Wait how can you tell if it’s Percy’s?

Hurricane!Bitch (Kym): Percy’s got the sea in his blood. And we (Myself, Rhode, Ben, Triton, Mother, Father) can sense the sea. Therefore, we can till if the blood is of the sea or not.

Heels.Nails.Blade (Drew): so when Percy says he’s got the sea in his blood, he’s being literal?

Hurricane!Bitch (Kym): Yup.

Glowstick (Will): this information hurts my brain.

IslandRhode (Rhode): Update. Unfortunately, the blood is Percy’s. Which means he was injured when he was taken.

Mad.hatter (Pollux): Also means he didn’t go willingly. Which solidifies that it was definitely kidnapping.

Miss.chase is typing…

Wise.Owl (Athena): Go to sleep Annabeth.

Miss.chase stoped typing.

Blond.superman (Jason): oh my gods. Can someone please make sure she is sleeping.

The.Mail.Man (Hermes): you are also supposed to be sleeping, little brother.

Blond.superman (Jason): I slept for like 2 hours. I tried to go back to sleep but couldn’t. Annabeth hasn’t slept at all in 24 hours.

God.Of.Love (Aphrodite): @FIRE!BABY go make your boyfriend sleep. @Wise.Owl go make your daughter sleep.

FIRE!BABY (Leo): HES NOT MU BOUFEND

Beauty~Queen (Piper): please, turn on autocorrect Leo.

Annabeths thoughts about Leo’s lack of autocorrect were intruded by a knock on cabin 3’s door.

She got up from her spot, feeling kinda dizzy as she stood. (Maybe she should try and sleep) and she opened the door.

Her mother stared back at her. "Walk with me." Athena said.

Annabeth put her shoes on and exited cabin 3.

She and her mother walked in silence. It was still morning. Annabeth didn’t sleep the night she found out Percy was kidnapped (again), or the day after, or last night.

She had been to wrapped up in her thought and theory’s.

"Annabeth." Athena began "I wish I knew how to comfort you. All I can say is that, we will find him."

Annabeth sighed. "Do you even like him?" She asked, because she had to. And she was too tired to care about the consequences.

"I…" Athena hesitated. "I think that… I think that if he is what you want, if he is what make you happy, then you should be with him" The goddess spoke like she was out of her comfort zone.

"That’s not what I asked." Annabeth whispered.

Athena averted her eyes.

"Do you like him?" She asked her mother again.

Athena was silent for a moment. Then. "I don’t know, Annabeth. I don’t know"

The goddess of wisdom, didn’t know.

Before Annabeth could say anything to respond, the goddess spoke up. "He reminds me of people I’ve lost. And the reminders make it hard to judge if I like him, or dislike him."

The Mother and Daughter continued to walk, now starting to get closer to the woods. (She wasn’t worried about going toward the wood, nothing would come after her with Athena here)

"Who dose he remind you of…?" She dared to ask.

Athena sighed, and do Annabeths surprise, answered the question. "Two people. The first, Odysseus. They share a fatal flaw."

"I thought Odysseus’s fatal flaw was his Hubris." Annabeth said

Athena shook her head, her lips twitching forward in a ghost of a smile. "Odysseus was very prideful, yes. And it got him in some bad situations. But loyalty, was his fatal flaw. The difference between Odysseus and Perseus- Percy is that, Odysseus was loyal to his wife, one person, and he had his entire crew killed, so he could see her. Percy is Loyal to his friends, multiple people. If Percy had to get back to you, but in order to do so he had to kill all his friends, or he would die, what would he do?"

Annabeth shook her head "He would die. He wouldn’t have all his friends killed, just to get back to me.”

"They share the same fatal flaw, but it manifests in completely difrent ways. There are other reasons why he reminds me of Odysseus, but that is the main one." She finished.

"And the second person he reminds you of?" At this point they had found there way to the sound, having shifted away from the woods.

Athena sat down where the grass met the sand. Annabeth sat next to her.

"What do you know of Pallas?"

Annabeth thought for a moment, thinking. But her brain was slow because she was so tired.

"Umm… Pallas… Like Pallas Athena? One of your Epithets?" She asked.

"Yes and no, I do go by Pallas Athena. But what do you know of the origins of the name itself?" Her mother asked

Annabeth shrugged "Not much. Sorry, I’m tired. I might have read it somewhere before, but I can’t… think… right now"

Athena reached over and ran her fingers through Annabeths hair, tucking it behind her ear. The touch was unfamiliar, but not unwelcome. Athena then gestured to the ground in front of her.

Annabeth didn’t question it, and moved to sit in front for her mom.

Athena gently combed her fingers through Annabeths hair. It was so gentle that, Annabeth almost didn’t register her doing it.

"You have nothing to be sorry for dear. I didn’t expect you to know, it’s not a talked about peace of our history." She said. Then sighed. "I think… it’s time for me to tell you a story."

"A story?" Annabeth questioned.

"A true story." Athena said.

Annabeth stayed quiet. Her mother had never told her a story before. Annabeth had been getting more used to her being gentle, and her brief touches. But nothing like this. So she stayed quiet not wanting it to end

"A long, long, time ago. Before I had fully come into my domains. I had a best friend. A sister in everthing but blood. Her name was Pallas, and that is what I called her. But her full title was; Princess Pallas, of Atlantis. She was Crown Prince Tritons daughter."

Annabeth wiped her head around to look at her mother, who tsk’ed and turned her head back around so she could keep working on the mess that is Annabeth’s hair.

"We were raised together. Because my father was trying to figure out how to rule the gods, and couldn’t teach me anything, because he was busy. So Triton fostered me, and raised me along side his daughter." It did not escape Annabeth’s notice the waves in the sound grew just a bit softer.

Someone who wasn’t familiar with the way of the water wouldn’t notice, but Annabeth did.

"We were very close. But one day, there was a festival. We went together, and decided that we would spar during the festival, just to entertain people. We were so young…" Athena sighed "The fight was one for the ages. Pallas was winning, she should have won. But, she didn’t. I went in for a stab with my sword, and Pallas didn’t block. I don’t know why she didn’t block, but she didn’t. And Pallas… she was a demigod. Half sea Nymph, Half God, but still mortal nonetheless. She died by my sword…"

Annabeth stayed quiet, mainly because, as much as she hated to admit it, her mother’s voice was soothing, and she was beginning sway, dangerously close to falling asleep. But also because, she didn’t want to stop her mother from telling her more.

"Most people will tell you that Percy has Poseidon’s eyes. That he looks like Poseidon. But no, his eyes are a few shades lighter… he has Pallas’s eyes. And her smile. And he’s just as strong as she was…" Athena trailed off. Finishing the two loose braids she was subtly doing in Annabeth’s hair.

Annabeths exhaustion had caught up to her. She had fallen asleep, Athena caught her and leaned Annabeth against her.

Athena sighed "Rest my daughter. We will bring him home.”

The waves crashed against the shore in agreement.

Notes:

We love some angsty fluff in this household.

Annabeth is apart of the seafam and you can not convince me otherwise.

I love Athena’s character. She’s just so interesting.

also, let’s talk about the group chat for a second! Because I just started writing down people who I thought would care enough to be in the group chat and all of a sudden "32 Members" like DAM!
Percy got a whole crew people who would kill for him.

Also, poor Annabeth she hasn’t slept in so long.

ALSO! NICO AND BIANCA WERE CASTED?!?!!?! THEY ARE SO LITTLE!! IM GUNNA CRASH OUT.

Next chapter tomorrow???? Possibly… (The weekends are difficult because I always have shit I’m doing. so always expect a sporadic schedule Thursday through Sunday. Otherwise, I will do my best to post daily.)

Chapter 17: Erebus

Summary:

Percy had done everything he could think of to try and get out. But it was no use. The cell he was kept in was solid stone, with a thick iron door that was locked from the outside

Notes:

⚠️ TRIGGER WARNING‼️
Brief suicidal ideation. (Nothing crazy, it’s mainly just implied, but it’s there)

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

The cell Percy found himself in was small, dark, and cold. Three things that Percy hates

He didn’t know how long he had been here.

He had woken up here after Ebon knocked him out. Who, by the way, Percy hasn’t seen since then.

Percy had done everything he could think of to try and get out. But it was no use. The cell he was kept in was solid stone, with a thick iron door that was locked from the outside

And he couldn’t use his powers, because he had these cuffs on his wrist. They were like metal bracelets except he couldn’t take them off. The second he woke up the first time, he could tell they were what was damning his powers.

He thinks the type of metal is called Adamantine, if he remembered correctly. The metal that even gods could not brake. (Leo and Annabeth had taught him about the metal)

The metal, when used on demigods, suppresses their powers, and keeps them from using their abilities.

It was almost painful in a way. To be able to feel his ability’s at his figure tips, but not be able to use them.

It was pissing him off.

And if was really frustrating, because all his senses were unchanged. including his magical senses. He just couldn’t use the powers that went along with them.

He could feel the sea. It wasn’t far, the metal suppressing his magic made it hard to tell exactly how far it was, but if he were to guess, it was only a mile or two away.

But he couldn’t use his powers, because of the fucking cuffs!

Percy kicked the door again.

He hated being restrained.

The sudden movement made him dizzy, reminding him that he was suffering from blood loss.

Akhlys had taken a liking to his blood. She would come to his cell every few hours and take his blood. And not just a little of it. No. Enough where it made him dizzy, and pale.

He had fought and fought Akhlys, but it was no use. He didn’t have riptide, because they had cut his pockets out of his pants. And he couldn’t use his powers.

The second time she had taken his blood, he had passed out. That was the only time he had slept since he had been captured.

Akhlys had told him, quote; 'I wish I could just kill you slowly. Watch you suffer. But he wants you alive' she had complained to him.

Percy had yet to meet his host. But could take an educated guest on who he was.

Now Percy, in his past, was not very educated on the Greek gods and their story’s. But last October he had taken it upon himself to learn about as many Greek gods as he could.

That included the primordial gods.

Akhlys is Nyx’s daughter. Nyx created Akhlys with the help of Khaos, but Akhlys is still mainly Nyx’s.

Akhlys is still technically, a primordial. But she is the youngest one.

Anyway. When Akhlys was kidnapping him, she had referred to her boss, as 'my Πατριός’

Πατριός ment Stepfather.

And Akhlys’s mom, Nyx, had a husband.

Erebus. God of darkness, and one of the first beings to emerge form Khaos.

Percy knew next to nothing about the primordial. Mainly because there wasn’t a lot of information on him.

So why Erebus would be leading this, Percy didn’t know.

Percy was pulled out of his thought by footsteps approaching.

He made his way to the far side of his cell, hoping and praying that it wasn’t Akhlys.

His prayers were not heard.

Akhlys looked at him with a pleased expression.

Percy really didn’t want to do this right now. He was tired, and hungry, and dizzy, and he thinks the dust is making him sick.

He had only been here for a little bit, and he was ready for it to be over.

He didn’t have anybody to protect here. This wasn’t the pit, and he didn’t have to keep Annabeth safe. Because she wasn’t here.

Would it be so bad as to just, give in? Let it happen?

He felt the sea thrum in him. Just out of reach.

No. He told himself. He could do this. He would get out.

Think of Annabeth.

"Lord Erebus wishes to speak to you." Akhlys said.

So he was right.

Percy let himself internally, feel smug. Anything that wasn’t a negative emotion, he would take.

Then he saw the hand cuffs Akhlys was holding, and all of his positive thinking flew out the (nonexistent) window.

She opened his cell and walked forward. Percy took a step back.

Akhlys seemed pleased at the response. "We can do this the hard way if you want, I would prefer it." She said.

Percy put his hands out willingly. Not wanting to give her the satisfaction of his fear.

The cold cuffs burned his skin.

They walked down the hall in silence. Percy made himself look like he had no fear of meeting the god of darkness.

Fake it till you make it.

He knew, that if he was going to get out of here, he had to figure out why he was here in the first place. What was this being’s motive?

The hallways were like a maze. Percy was trying to map out how he might be able to get out of here, but everything looked the same.

Eventually, they turned the corner and met with double doors. The doors were pitch black, and huge. 10 feet tall, at least.

Akhlys dragged him through the doors with no fear.

At the head of the table in the new room, was a 12 foot tall man. He had dark grey skin, pitch black hair, pick black eyes, and was wearing a cloak.

He was looking down at some maps on the table.

He looked straight at Percy. And smiled

"Akhlys, take off the hand cuffs. Leave the magic suppressers on though." Erebus said.

Akhlys did what she was told.

"Good. you may go Akhlys.” He said.

"Must I go? I want to watch him suffer!" She said. Far to happy

Erebus’s eyes left Percy and locked on to Akhlys. "You may go."

Akhlys left with out a word more.

"Perseus. It is a pleasure to meet you in person. Please take a seat." Erebus gestured to the seats a long the table.

"I’ll stand." Percy said back. He didn’t care how much his limbs hurt and how tired he was. He would not show any weakness in front of this being.

The God looked amused. "Very well. Stand then."

Percy decided he has had enough of the small talk "Why do you want to take down the Olympians?" His voice was firm.

As much as Percy wanted to know why he was taken, he needed to get the important information first.

The god sat up straighter. "To the point. Good. I do not want to destroy the Olympians, I simply want my crown."

"Your crown?" Percy questioned.

"Yes. When Ouranos was overthrown by Kronos, the heavens should have gone to me. As I was next in line. But Kronos wanted the throne, so the Titian king bound me to my darkness, keeping me from my crown. Then your uncle took the crown. I remained bound to my darkness, until Gaia rose again. And my wife, used the thin barrier of life and death that Gaia created, to free me. And now, I want my crown back." He explained.

Percy did his best to analyze every sentence coming out of this guy’s mouth. Saving it for later and also using it to create an argument.

"Then why go after the Demigods? If you are so powerful, why not go straight to the Olympians." He asked

This seemed to strike a nerve, and Percy felt smug.

"The God’s rely on their followers and believers for their power. The demigods are the main source of their believers, therefore, where they draw most of their power. I’m simply taking out their power source." Erebus said. The god  had a great face card, but Percy could tell he was speaking through gritted teeth.

"So you’re a coward then? Too scared to go after the gods at full power?" Percy said, with a grin.

This, he could do. Antagonize and get information out of it.

"I am no coward. I simply know how to play the field. You fought in plenty battles and wars. You know it’s always easier to go after the enemies when they are weak." Erebus said.

"Then why keep yourself hidden?" Percy asked. The god stayed quiet, so he continued. "When I fight in a battle, I always fall back when I am growing weak, save my energy. But you hide, you don’t tell them who you are. Even though you are going after their kids." He said, noticing the god growing more tense.

"Are you weak, Erebus?" Percy said what he had been implying. "When Gaia rose, she wasn’t at full power. Are you still not at full power?" He tilted his head antagonistically

The Primordial growled, his eyes growing darker (if that’s even possible),  and the room getting even more dark. "You are lucky I need you alive Mortal!" His voice echoed though the chamber, full of a kind of power that, Percy has only felt when the children of Kronos and Rhea were really angry.

Percy didn’t flinch. He was used to angry gods. And this was the reaction he had been hoping to get. (Even if he hated loud noises, he knew how to hide it. Especially when he was expecting a loud noise.)

"Why do you need me alive?" Percy asked, voice steady "if you are trying to take out the demigods, why not just kill me?”

Percy had detached himself from the situation. And he knew deep down that, the detachment could end up being a bad thing in the long run, but right now, he was surviving.

"Simple. Akhlys needs your blood to make a one of a kind poison that kills demigods in less than 3 minutes." Erebus said. "Your blood is of the sea, therefore  it can be used for many different things. And if you’re dead, I can’t keep getting that blood."

That explains why Akhlys had been taking so much of his blood.

"What do you plan to do on the solstice?" Percy asked.

The being was silent for a moment. Before. "I didn’t realize you were there for that long, I thought I sent you away after Eris revealed her son."

Shit, Percy just gave him new information. Damnit.

"You didn’t answer my question." Percy said. Keeping his voice firm.

The being scoffed. "I’m not an imbecile, I know better than to tell you my plans."

"Then why did you want to speak to me?" Percy then asked.

"I like to get to know those who belong to my care."

"I don’t belong to you."

"Then who do you belong to?"

"Myself. I am my own."

"Hm." The being sighed "Akhlys."

Akhlys entered the room.

"Take him back to his cell." He said

Percy barred his teeth at the goddess. Then looked back at Erebus. "You won’t keep me here." He stated

"Perhaps not. But the goal is not to keep you here. It’s to distract your friends, draw their attention away from the barrier. It would be nice to keep you. I do believe those are unrealistic expectations."

The being turned away from him.

"They won’t fall for it!" Percy screamed as he was dragged out of the room. "The demigods know better than that! You will fail!"

Realistically, he knew it was a 50-50 chance that the demigods would take their eyes of the barrier. He knew how distraught they were when he went missing the first time. He couldn’t imagine how distracted they may be.

"We’ll see"

He had to get out of here.

Notes:

Oh Percy… what are you gunna do now.

In this chapter, you can really see my love for playing with the loose lines of Greek mythology lol. Erebus backstory was made up lol.

Chapter Text

Percy hadn’t eaten since he got here. He had been given water, (After they had put him in more chains) but no food.

If Percy’s hunger was anything to go by, his is that he’s been here for just over 4 days. But it was hard to tell. But Percy was so weak now and dizzy, he couldn’t stand.

Akhlys hadn’t stoped taking his blood. And since he hadn’t eaten, his body was being slow regenerating it.

He was so weak, he couldn’t keep himself awake.

Per……..

…….ecy

P….ecy!

Percy.

Percy!

PERCY!

Percy found himself in the big house. In front of him was Grover.

He was so happy to see him. "Grover!" Percy shouted. But Percy couldn’t move. And it didn’t seem like Grover heard him.

"Any luck?" It was then that Percy noticed the others in the in the house.

It was Grover, Lou, Nico, Thalia, Hazel, Mr.D, Apollo and-

Annabeth.

Grover shook his head. Not yet…"

Lou sighed in frustration. "I swear, I had him that time!" She ran her fingers through her hair.

"What if you did have him." Apollo said

"What do you mean?" Thalia asked.

Percy was trying to say 'Hey! I’m here! What ever your doing worked! At least sort of.' But was it no use

"We know that Percy can be summoned when he is sleeping, let that be by a god, or someone who knows him very well." Apollo explained

"We know this" Nico said. Percy noticed the bags under Nico’s eyes had grown darker.

“Well my theory- and it is just a theory, is that what if Percy is seeing this. What if Grover got the connection, but since Percy is being hidden from us, we can’t communicate through the link" Apollo said

”how would that even work?" Hazel asked.

"It may not work. Like I said, just a theory. But Percy’s always done things that no one can explain" The sun god shrugged

"How would be able to tell?" Annabeth sighed. She looked tired, her hair was in two braids, that looked like they might fall out soon. And she just looked exhausted.

Percy desperately wanted to tell them that ‘yes! that is what happened!' He didn’t know how. But then his eyes fell in a glass of water. He stared at it. He looked down at his wrist and saw that he didn’t have the cuffs on his wrist. He had never tried to use his powers while dream walking.

But Percy always loved trying new things. He focused on the water, trying to break the glass.

Thalia cracked a smile, it didn’t quite reach her eyes, but it was close to the mischievous grin Percy knew. "What if it’s like those ghost Hunter videos?" She said, clearly trying to lighten the mood.

Nico snorted, then mockingly. "Percy! If you can hear us, and you’re doing your weird dream shit, give us a sign!"

Hazel laughed, even Annabeth cracked a soft smile. Mr.D rolled his eyes. Grover just looked disturbed.

Thalia, being a little shit, continued the joke. "C’mon! Give us a damn sign!"

"A dam sign?" Grover asked, also cracking a grin.

Thalia snorted. So did 'ghost' Percy.

Percy needed to see this. It reminded him why he was trying to stay alive.

At the moment, he was able to brake the glass of water.

Silence.

Holy shit it worked.

"Ummmmmmm" Apollo said.

Everyone’s eyes were wide.

"I think that’s a sign." Hazel said, matter-of-factly

Silence. Then. "SOMEONE GET ANOTHER GLASS OF WATER!" Lou shouted

Apollo waved his hand, and the glass of water was restored. "Percy, on a scale of; the-water-doesn’t -move, to, the-glass-shatters again, water not moving meaning a little, glass braking meaning a lot, how close are you to escaping?" He asked

Percy made the water ripple a bit. Because he had an idea, but he didn’t think it would work.

"I’m getting Poseidon, he might be able to track Percy down if he’s dream walking here." Mr.D said, before flashing off.

Annabeth finally spoke up then. "Percy, if you can, keep the water moving to some extent so we can tell if you’re still here."

Percy could feel himself growing weaker, this was a lot harder then doing it in his own body. But for Annabeth, he would do it.

He kept the water at a consistent ripple.

"Good” Annabeth whispered.

It was then that Poseidon flashed in.

His dad…

No Percy, stay focused. Focus of the water. He told himself, because he could feel himself starting to weaken more.

Mr.D must have filled him in, because his eyes immediately fell to the rippling water in the glass.

“It’s Percy’s magic." He said.

Annabeth breath hitched.

"The mist they have on him is really strong, I need a little more than a ripple if I’m gunna trace the source" he said.

Percy knew he had to give more, so he did.

It hurt. But he was able to turn then ripple into a small whirlpool.

His dad was silent for a moment, before he cursed " They felt me looking for him. Percy if you’re asleep, they are probably gonna come and wake you up. I know you have to be trapped, but if you can somehow get the sea, and touch it, I’ll be able to sense you no matter how much mist is covering you. Κράτα γρήγορα, γεννά ———-”

Percy was woken before his dad could finish, but Percy knew what he was going to say.

'Κράτα γρήγορα, γεννά την καταιγίδα ' Was what his dad was going to say.

He would.

Percy was being grabbed by the hair, and found himself look at the dead eyes of Akhlys.

"You must think you’re so powerful. Being able to slip though like that. But it won’t happen again." Akhlys threw him against the wall. Like, actually threw him, like 6 feet off the ground.

Ow. That the hit had to be hard enough to break his ribs, his nose, and his shoulder.

Because it hurt. Bad.

Then he was falling, and he went to catch himself, but landed on his wrist. Probably breaking it too.

Again. Ow.

Akhlys scoffed, and turned around and left. Slamming the door behind her.

And Percy, despite the amount of pain he was in from being thrown across the room. He was still able to register, that he didn’t hear the door lock.

Akhlys didn’t lock the door.

It was an opening.

He had to get up.

But everything hurt. It hurt so bad. And he was to tired. And he still couldn’t use his powers, seeing that the cuffs were still in his wrist.

He felt so weak. Maybe he should just lay here for a while…

NO! He yell at himself

It was Akhlys influence of misery. He knew it.

He had to. Get. Up.

His dad’s words rang though his ears.

Κρατήστε γρήγορα, γεννήστε την καταιγίδα.

'Hold fast, brave the storm'

He got up.

It hurt, so much. But he did it.

He made his way to the door on shaky feet. Then tried to open the door.

And miraculously, it opened.

He glanced around, and saw that no one was around.

Now he had to figure out how to get through this maze of hallways.

If he focused, he could feel the drumming of the sea. It couldn’t be far.

He just had to get to the sea.

Percy took a breath, doing his best to dissociate so he wouldn’t feel the pain that was in his ribs and shoulder, and nose, and wrist-

Stop. Focus Percy.

He moved. He had no clue where he was going, but he was going somewhere.

He trusted his gut and moved.

He ducked around a corner when he heard talking.

It was two cyclops. "Why do we have to guard the hatch?" One complained.

"That’s what the lord wants us to do, so we will do it." The other said.

The Cyclops were about 12 to 15 feet tall. Taller than Tyson.

'The hatch'. Could that be the way out?

Percy took a risk, and followed the two cyclops.

He was doing his best to stay quiet, but it was hard because every time he moved his ribs screamed.

But still, he kept moving. Completely silent. Ducking around corners to avoid the cyclops line of sight.

Finally, after what felt like forever, they made it to the hatch.

Percy was right. It was a way out.

Bad news, in was a nearly vertical ladder to get out, and Percy had broken his shoulder. It could be worse. It was at like a 25 degree angle, so it was doable, but it would hurt. And Percy knew it.

The two cyclops made their way up the ladder, and Percy knew he only had a few second between when they open the hatch, and when they closed it.

He would have to be fast.

(This was gunna hurt, bad)

The first cyclops made their way up the ladder, opening the hatch, and leaving it open to let the other cyclops though.

Percy was about to run up the ladder, when…

"WHERE IS HE!"

Percy booked it up the ladder. Somehow not slipping. (Ignoring the pain in his ribs and shoulder that protested.)

”Hey!" The cyclops shouted. But Percy was running.

He was in the woods, It was also sunset, and Percy was so happy to feel the sun again.

But the sun wasn’t the only thing he could feel. He could feel the sea more clearly now. Just under a mile away.

He just had to run one mile.

One mile.

He could do it (he ignored the pain ribs)

Percy has run a mile in 3 and a half minutes before. But his average at full speed was about 4 minutes and 15 seconds. And he was injured right now, so he would be slower.

He just had to do it.

He tuned everything out. Tuned out the cyclops he knew were chasing him. Tuned out the pain he was in. He was just running.

Then, finally, he broke the tree line, seeing sand dunes.

"GET BACK HERE!" A powerful voice yelled.

Percy kept running.

A dagger was thrown, it hit him in his bad shoulder.

He screamed in pain, but kept running.

He could see the waves. He had lost his shoes as some point, so he could feel the sand on his feet.

"DON’T LET HIM GET TO THE WATER!"

He could hear them catching up to him.

He was 3 yards from the surf.

2 yards

3 feet.

Arms wrapped around his waist, and stoped him from getting to the water. A cyclops picking him up.

Percy screamed, and cried, and reached for the sea,

for home.

He didn’t make it.

A laugh "Nice try, but you’ll have to try harder next time" Eris said, holding a dagger.

Asshole

Percy twisted and struggled in the cyclops grip.

He stretched his foot toward the surf.

"Let’s take him, back to base." Akhlys said.

Percy vision was spinning, and becoming blurry.

He had lost

He kept stretching his foot, till it touched the sand.

And right as he did that, large wave crashed against the shore.

The water touched his big toe for a total of 0.41 seconds.

Then he blacked out. Giving up, and hoping it was enough.

Notes:

RUN PERCY RUN!

Okay so, i’m starting to get the outline for how I want this series to go when I get into a future AU for the next generation of demigods.

The main thing I’m struggling with, is how the others would name their kids. Because I don’t want to pull a Harry Potter.

So I wanna know what you think everybody would name their kids.

(Mainly Percabeth, Solangeo, Valgrace)

Here’s a few that I have so far, I want to know what you guys think.

‼️ spoilers for future fics in this series. If you want to skip them, scroll until you you see this; ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅

Zoë (Zoe): Meaning- Life, Living, Energy… Origin: Greek

And

Sophia (Sophie): Meaning- Wisdom, Knowledge… Origin: Greek

For Percabeth 2/3 kids

Then

Michael (Milo): Meaning- Protector, humility, Light… Origin: English

For Solangeo 1/2 kids (I plan on making them twins)

Now, most first names I’m doing after people who are dead (mainly because I think that they would do that). But then I’m gonna give them nicknames,

Example: Michael’s gonna be called Milo.

A middle names I’m gonna do mostly original

(Except for Zoe, her middle name is gonna be Pallas)

✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅

Anyway, thoughts and suggestions for names would be greatly appreciated!

If I don’t use them for the main characters kids, I may use them for an original character.

Next chapter out tomorrow!

Chapter 19: Rage of the Gods

Summary:

"Found him." Was all he said, before flashing off.

Notes:

Here we go…

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

"—Κράτα γρήγορα, γεννά την καταιγίδ…" Poseidon trailed off as he felt his son’s magic leave the area.

He was able to lock onto his son’s presence, but Akhlys had felt him peaking though the mist. He could tell his son was not fatally injured, he could feel that he was starving, and weak because of that. But he didn’t get the chance to get an exact location.

He could tell Percy was on the east coast. But that is still over 2000 square miles of land to search. But it was a start.

"I could tell he is still on the east coast. I couldn’t figure out were exactly before Akhlys felt me. But-" he was cut off by Annabeth.

"It’s a start. We have a starting point." She said. She seemed lost in thought.

Zeus daughter, Thalia nodded "I’ll take the huntress in the morning and start making our way south. We’ll look for him."

"I think that there are some retired Demigods of the Legion out there. I’ll check with Rayna to see if they have spotted anything" Hecate’s champion, Hazel, spoke.

"I’ll talk to the other protectors that I know are over there. See if they spotted him." Grover said.

Hades son, Nico, nodded in agreement. "At least it’s something."

Apollo then sighed "Alright, all of you kids need to go eat dinner. I know you want to keep looking, but you have to take care of yourself."

The kids left with very little argument. Expect for Annabeth.

"Was he hurt?" She whispered. "Could you tell how he was?”

Poseidon took his (unofficial) future daughter-in-law’s hand. Guiding her to a chair.

(Apollo and Dionysus were talking quietly on the other side of the room, they noticed how gentle Poseidon was with the girl, and smiled)

He sat her down and sat down in a chair across from her "I could tell a little bit." The god of the seas said softly.

He noted Apollo and Dionysus turning to listen.

Poseidon continued "He didn’t seem fatally injured. He seemed hungry, tired, and weak." He paused, trying to decide if you wanted to tell Annabeth about the next part. This was his son’s lover, she deserved to know. "I thought I also felt some blood loss, but I didn’t feel any major injury…"

Annabeths face stayed stoic. Unreadable

Dionysus hummed in thought.

"What?" Poseidon asked.

"Well, Akhlys is the one who took him right? My domain of wine overlaps a little with hers, not much, but enough for me to know a thing or two about Poisons." He explained

"Where are you going with this, brother?" Apollo asked

"If I remember correctly. Can’t the blood of the sea, make some sort of one of a kind poison?" The god of wine wondered

Poseidon thought for a moment. While Poseidon knew most of what the sea could do, stuff like this he typically left to his wife, Amphitrite. So it took a moment for the name of poison to come to him.

"Yes it can, it’s called Wither Water. It’s extremely difficult to make, and takes a lot of blood…" he trailed off. "But that would explain the blood loss."

"So you guys think they are taking his blood?" Annabeth said, horrified.

"… it’s a Possibility." Dionysus told the girl, cautiously.

Poseidon hated that it was a possibility. His demigod children’s blood was unique, due to the fact it was connect to the ocean. Giving it magical properties, if used correctly.

And the more powerful the demigod, The more power the blood holds.

Annabeth buried her head in her hands. "I just want him to be safe! Why can’t we ever catch a break!" She sounded like she was holding back tears. "And now Akhlys has him."

She went on to start muttering things that Poseidon couldn’t fully make out, stuff like 'I shouldn’t have stoped him.' Is the only thing he could make out.

"Hey" Apollo cut in. Placing a hand on her shoulder. "Once we get him back, I will do everything in my power to make sure you get a break. To make sure all you kids get a break."

Dionysus nodded "You all deserve peace."

Annabeth sighed. Tired "I want peace. So bad. Just sometimes it feels like the fighting never ends."

"This won’t last forever." Apollo whispered.

There was silence for a moment, everyone just, breathing. Then Apollo spoke again.

"I know that you two don’t like talking about it, and I don’t plan on pushing, but what did you two do to make Akhlys hate you some much?” His voice was soft, and caring.

Poseidon would admit that he was curious on, what they did to make the goddess hold such a grudge. and to get out of the pit  just with the sole purpose of tormenting them.

Annabeth let out a humorless laugh. Then she sighed. "In order to get to the doors of death, we had to get past the thousands of monsters at the doors without being spotted. The only way we could do that, was with the death mist." She paused, steeling herself. "We knew that Akhlys would stab us in the back, we weren’t that stupid. But we didn’t really have a choice."

Annabeth took another breath. "She brought us to a lake of poison. She going to kill us both. But Percy… he was able to take hold of the little water in the poison, and he turned her own domain against her…" her voice was shaky. "She ran away with her tail between her legs."

That wasn’t what Poseidon was expecting, but he wasn’t surprised. Percy had always been good at manipulating water, he was skilled in a way that few of his children have been in the past.

So he could see how Percy could find the water in the poison, and use it. (And on top of that, Poseidon himself has limited control of toxic liquid )

But to take control of another god domain, forcefully…

Well, it wasn’t unheard of. But it hasn’t happened in a long time. And it took a lot of power, and force of will.

Apollo cleared his throat. "Yeah, I can’t see how that would make her angry."

Annabeth laughed, though there was no joy to it "Yeah."

"You both are two of the strongest demigods, in a very long time. Mentally and physically. I can think of many who, would have fallen into madness by now. But you two just keep on going." Dionysus spoke up.

"I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t be insane, from half the stuff you two have been though." Apollo said.

"Who says we’re fully sane?" Annabeth said. She wasn’t smiling, but her eyes spoke of amusement.

"As the god of madness, I can confirm, you are both fully sane. You just are riddled with PSTD and Anxiety." Dionysus shot back.

"We will be working on that once we get for boyfriend back, by the way." Apollo cut in. "And I plan to give all of the veterans physicals."

Poseidon nodded in agreement

Annabeth said something in response to that, and Apollo responded with a chiding quip. And the Sea god was about to chime in with his own remark. But had to stop, because-

Poseidon couldn’t help but let out a soft surprised gasp.

There he was.

It was only for a split second, but Percy had touched the sea.

There almost wasn’t enough time for Poseidon to pin him down, but he did.

Percy was on the outer banks in north Carolina. Specifically on Hatters island.

And he was hurt .

Bad.

"Uncle P?" Apollo asked.

"Found him." Was all he said, before flashing off. Making sure to put it in Apollo‘s mind where he was going. And telling his Family that he had found their youngest.

Poseidon drew his trident and killed the two cyclops restraining his son without a second thought.

He willed the waves bigger, as to catch his son. Keeping him from hitting the ground to hard.

Percy looked awful. He looked like he hasn’t eaten in days. He had a dagger sticking out of his shoulder, and his wrist was clearly broken, or sprained.

Poseidon felt rage fill him. The waves grew 10 feet in size, the wind picked up, as a hurricane suddenly struck the east coast.

The king of the seas stepped over his son, positioning himself in front of Percy, and letting his eyes scan over who was responsible for his son‘s injuries, so he could rip them limb from fucking limb.

He saw Eris, Akhlys and-

In the back, about 10 yards away, a god Poseidon has never seen in person before, but knew full well who he was.

Erebus, Primordial God of Darkness. One of the oldest Gods still in existence.

Poseidon had thought he had faded long ago.

"Erebus." He said, growing to about 20 feet in size. the his eyes fell to Eris and Akhlys "Eris, Akhlys."

Poseidon knew he couldn’t fight this Primordial alone. Poseidon could sense Erebus wasn’t as his full strength, but that wouldn’t make much of a difference, if Poseidon fought him without help.

The god of Darkness was born directly from Khaos, he would be harder to fight than just a few stabs of a trident.

It was then, that more gods showed up.

The twins, both with their bows drawn, flashed to the left and right, of the three news enemies of Olympus.

Dionysus stood next to Apollo, looking calm as ever, which ment he was pissed.

He felt his wife, daughters and eldest son flash behind him. In the sea. He ordered his children to stay in the water.

He felt as his wife command the waves to pull Percy into the water.

(He tried not to panic when the sea didn’t heal Percy’s injury’s.)

Rhode grabbed Percy and held him close, they were still in the shallows, about chest deep, and Poseidon knew that it would be useless to try to get them to go deeper into the water.

The royal of Atlantis family wanted to stay and take revenge on those who dare hurt the youngest member of the family.

He could feel Kym feeding her own rage into the storm, ready to lash out, all she needed was the word.

Athena and Hermes were the next to flash in. Athena with her spear drawn standing about 10 feet to Poseidons left, and Hermes who was flanking Artemis.

The lastly, his siblings materialized on either side of him. Zeus on his right and Hades on his left, both with weapons drawn. Demeter, mirroring Athena on his right.

He didn’t know where Ares, Hephaestus, or Aphrodite were.

But it didn’t matter. He wasn’t alone now.

"Erebus." Hades greeted coldly.

"Surrender!" Athena shouted. "You’re out numbered, and out matched."

Erebus laughed "You think that you can defeat me? I am of Khaos! You can’t not take me down."

All of a sudden, an explosion of darkness shot out. Poseidon shielded all of his children and his wife from the blast (with Demeter’s help) and Hades shielded Dionysus and Hermes, while Zeus shielded the twins and Athena.

The blast was strong enough to seriously hurt a second generation God, and enough to kill a demigod.

It’s a miracle that the children of Rhea saw it coming. The blast burned, but didn’t cause any real damage to the first generation gods.

(The joys of fighting a Primordial God directly born from Khaos)

In retaliation, The god of the sea’s threw his trident at the Primordial.

The weapon made contact with him, gold ichor dripping down the God are Darkness shoulder.

And hell broke loose.

Notes:

This chapter was really hard to write lol.

I have thought a lot about the power levels of all the Demigods/Gods/Titans/
primordials

And the way, I rank their power level is; the older the generation the more powerful they are. (And how many followers they have, but that barely counts for anything.)

So the primordial’s are the most powerful.
Then the titans, Then the first generation of gods. Then the second generation of gods.

Now granted, the power difference isn’t too large of a gap between gods and Titans, but it gets a little larger when you get into primordial.

(and I’m also taking into account that an individual deity could be a little more powerful than the average of the category)

and you might be asking "Author, why dose the power level of deities matter?"

Badass fights. that’s why.

See, in the original Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus books we don’t have to worry too much about the different power levels of different deities because we don’t see them fight a lot.

But in 'The Tides That Bring Us Home' it matters because we’re going to see a lot more divine battles.

Anyway, enough with my yapping! I don’t want to give to much away ;)

Next chapter out tomorrow is always :)

EDIT:: Chapter will not be out tonight, I had a bit a of medical issue (nothing major, and I am perfectly ok) and I didn’t think my doctors appointment would take as long as it did, so I didn’t get the chance to edit the chapter. Hopefully next chapter will be out July 30!

Chapter Text

Annabeth hated that she was left behind.

She wanted to fight Akhlys herself, and get Percy back! But no, Apollo said that it would be to 'dangerous'

As if she hasn’t walked through literal hell and back.

'To dangerous my ass’ she thought

She paced in the big house, stressed, and worried about Percy.

There was a sharp stabbing pain in her head. ugh, probably a migraine coming on.

She sat down a chair rubbing her head, and waiting impatiently for the gods to come back with Percy.

5 minutes turned into 10.

"Ugh!" She was so worried. She just wanted her boyfriend home.

She was lost in her own thoughts, when Owen Mellow, a 12 year old boy, cabin 11, ran in.

Annabeth was immediately on alert because of how scared he looked.

"Owen? What’s wrong?" She asked, scanning over the kid.

She noted that Tessa Molly, Hermes’s tiny 4 year old daughter, was holding his hand tightly, also looking scared, not crying, but close.

Owen gasped for air, clearly having run here. "Monsters- Coming from the woods! Dozens of them! Travis told all the first years and those under 13 to hide in here!"

"What!?" But how would monsters get into camp, the barrier-

Shit.

If Apollo and the other gods focuses were elsewhere… no one was watching the barrier.

"Okay, you two, go sit on the couch and stay there. Do not come out unless a Head counselor comes and gets you, do you understand me?" She asked, firm, but soft.

The kid nodded. Going to take Tessa to the couch.

She ran out the big house door, and saw more kids running this way.

She caught sight of Henry Reeds, another cabin 11 kid, 13 years old, second year.

"Henry!" She shouted. He caught her eyes from where he was helping two of his other siblings get to the big house. "Tessa is your responsibility until one of us gets back! Don’t let her out of your sight!"

"But I wanna fight!" He shouted back.

"I don’t care! Please, just do it." And she ran. Knowing the boy would listen to her orders.

She caught sight of one of her sisters, Wren wills, 15, third year. "Wren! Go to the big house. Watch the younger campers, if things start looking bad, take them to bunker 9! Pick two others to watch them with you!" She yelled

Wren gave Annabeth a mock salute "On it! Jaxson, Azar! Let’s go!"

Two other third years, Jaxson Rose, cabin 5, 14 year old boy. And Azar Lillies  Cabin 9, 13 year old boy.

Good choices for this job, if she wasn’t in such a rush, she would praise her sister for the wise choice.

She caught sight of Tilly and Ollie Maps, two of Apollos younger kids, 9 and 11 years old, first years. And there was a hellhound coming right toward them.

Annabeth reacted, stepping in front of the two kids, and drawing her drakon bone sword (typically, she didn’t have it on her all the time, but since Percy went missing, she got back in the habit)

She slashed at the hellhound, making it pull back for a moment. "Get to the big house, both of you." She said.

The kids didn’t need to be told twice, running that way.

She surveyed the battle field, trying to see what they were up against.

The first thing she looked for were younger campers in danger. Thankfully she didn’t see anymore.

The second, was the threats. There was the hellhound in front of her, beginning to recover, and about to lunge for her. She looked past the hound, and saw about a hundred monsters.

The hellhound lunged for her, she dogged effortlessly.

The third thing she looked for, were her allies. How many were in the field. Who was struggling, who would be fine.

She saw Clarisse fighting two Laistrygonians, she looked fine. Hazel and Nico were tag-teaming a group of skeletons, they also looked fine.

Kayla, Austin and the huntresses, were shooting arrows from far away.

She saw Will, scanning the battlefield for injured allies. Jason landed down next to Malcom to help him, because he was starting to struggle.

All in all, the Demigod were doing pretty good. It was a 2 to 1 battle, but they were used to being out numbered.

The hellhound, that she had momentarily forgotten about, slashed at her again. She dodged, getting in close to the hound and stabbing up into his neck. Disintegrating it into dust.

It was then that Thalia ran up next to her. "Looks like you handled that." She said with a grin, her spear drawn.

Annabeth snorted "of course I did. The battlefield is pretty even, we should be able to take care of this in 15, 20 minutes"

Everyone was doing well, they were all practiced at this, so they barely needed to talk to tell what each other what to do.

"Well I hate to burst your bubble, but I saw about 3 dozen more coming this way." Thalia said as she slashed a monster that got too close.

Okay, so slightly worse odds. 5 to 1 was still doable.

Annabeth wished Percy were here. She sighed "We need to find the break in the barrier and seal it!"

Thalia nodded "Lou’s already on that, I sent her with 2 Hunters, Piper, and the head of the Tyche cabin- uhh what’s her name..?"

”Clara Luce." Annabeth said, eyes back on the field as she saw Katie begin to struggle a bit.

"Yeah her. Gods, I have no clue how you remember all the names-"

"Focus Thalia."

"Fuck, right sorry. I’m gunna go help Nico and Haze they look like they are struggling."

And just like that, they were back to fighting. Annabeth ran over to Katie to help her.

The fight lasted a long time, Annabeth must have taken out a dozen enemies. But they were holding the line well.

The then.

ROAR

"Fuck!" Annabeth shouted.

As a giant Drakon, emerged from the woods. And the Drakon wasn’t the only monster to emerge in the woods.

There were about a dozen more miscellaneous monsters as well.

Oh, and it gets better. There were very few Drakon that could shoot fire or acid. But this one, could shoot acid.

It sprayed a it from its mouth, she watch at other’s hit the deck, trying to avoid it.

She was out of range. So she put on her invisibility cap, and began looking for an opening.

She noticed the big three cousins (minus Percy, but she tried to not let that distract her) shift their focus to the Drakon. Nico showdown traveled into the shade of a tree, 10 feet  above the Drakon, and attempted to stab its neck

But the Drakon saw him coming, and shifted its focus to Nico. Thankfully Jason swooped down and caught Nico before the Drakon could get to him.

As she was watching this though, something… odd, happened.

Time seemed to slow, and not in the ADHD demigod way. Everything went kinda blueish, like she put on sun glasses. And she was able to think very clearly, and analyze every detail.

Like now, she noticed that Nico was flagging, it wasn’t to bad yet, but he was. and she saw a cut on Jason forehead. Two things she didn’t catch before.

She could also see Thalia out of the corner of hey eye, she was preparing to throw her spear- with her lighting.

She was able to take stock of almost all the Demigods in less than a second.

It wasn’t like she was physically moving faster. It was more like, she was thing so thinking so quickly that her body couldn’t keep up.

She shifted her attention to the Drakon, with her quickened thoughts, she was able to notice a few things.

First, was that the Drakon was preparing to spray acid again.

Second, its eyes were tracking Jason, who was in the air still.

Third, it lacked scales on its throat.

It’s weak spot.

Annabeth moved, and the world seemed to go back to normal-ish speed for a moment, but there was still a blue tent to it.

No one seemed to notice it, so Annabeth thinks it’s safe to say that this is only happening to her.

She was invisible, so that helped her to sneak under the Drakon.

She just needed an opening.

Time seemed to slow again, as she noticed Thalia rearing her spear back, the spear was covered in blue electricity (Opposite to Jason’s lightning, which was gold) and starting to throw it, at the Drakon.

The Drakon saw she was about to do this though, and raised it head and tensed, bracing for the hit.

Annabeth, used the slight raising of the Drakon’s head, to draw her sword, and position herself right under its throat.

And as Thalia released her spear, in a boom of thunder. Annabeth thrust her sword forward, stabbing it in the throat.

All of a sudden, the blue tint in her vision disappeared.

And together, daughter of Zeus and the daughter of Athena, disintegrated the Drakon into dust.

She was thrown back 25 feet by the force of Thalias blast.

(Thalia has grown much stronger in the past few months, learning how to control her powers to an insane degree. She was even able to kinda fly now. Granted, it was more of a high jump, and then hovering for a few seconds, but it was still cool when she did it.)

When she landed, she landed right next to Thalia, who was also on the ground from the force of the blast.

'Did a just get my first actual power?' She thought, in shock.

"Sup." Thalia said.

"I think a just got an actual demigod ability" Annabeth said back. The looked at Thalia. "Why are you still in the ground?"

Thalia snorted "My whole body is tingling from doing that, and not in the good way. Give me a sec."

Speaking of ability side effects. Annabeth’s head was pounding, really bad.

Will ran up to the two of them. "You two okay?" He asked, crouching down.

Will also looked like he was flagging. He had eye bags under his eyes, and his voice cracked, which ment that he had been using his ultrasonic whistle.

"I’m great!" Thalia said, way too happy.

Will rolled his eyes, then looked at Annabeth.

Annabeth shrugged "I think I’m just having my first experience with ability side effects. I just gained my first demigod ability."

"Oh shit, for real? That’s awesome Annabeth!" Will said. He opened his mouth to say more, but-

"Will! Some help over here!"

Wills head snapped in the direction of The Voice "Ugh, we’ll later." And he ran off.

The monsters began to dissipate after that, and Annabeth got a text from Piper saying that they had found the hole in the barrier. Apparently it’s really bad, but Lou was able to temporarily plug it up, but she didn’t know how long it would last.

They would need the gods help to fix it.

If Annabeth were to guess, one of the members of the group that took Percy, is who broke it.

Speaking of gods.

Annabeth was going up against yet another hellhound. But she was flagging, and the hound landed a good scratch on her arm.

Her sword arm.

She dropped the weapon on accident, and immediately switched to her dagger.

But she didn’t have to finish the job. Because her mother flashed in front of her, and killed the hound herself.

Athena wasn’t the only god to flash in. She saw Mr.D next to Pollux, Hermes next to Connor, Apollo shooting arrows with Kayla, Artemis joining the fray of her hunters, Ares with Clarisse, Hephaestus with Nyssa,  Aphrodite with drew, Demeter with Katie and Miranda, Hades next to Nico, and Zeus, who stood in front of Jason and Thalia.

Poseidon was the only olympian missing.

But quickly after the gods arrived, there was not more monsters to fight.

"Are you alright, my daughter?" Athena asked

"Poseidons not here. Where is Percy? Is he okay?! Is he-"

"He’s okay. Rhode took him to Atlantis, Poseidon is with him now." Her mother reassured. "Where else are you injured."

Annabeth opened her mouth, but was cut off.

"Annabeth!" Clarisse shouted to her. "Where are all the younger Campers?"

"Big house! Wren, Jaxson, and Azar are watching them. And I tasked Tessa to Henry." She shouted back. "if a counselor could go do a headcount, that would great!" She said, slipping back into leader mode for a second.

"On it!" Butch Walker, Head of cabin 14, ran to the big house.

"You are quite the leader here." Athena noted

Annabeth nodded. "Percy and I typically tag team when it comes situations like this." She was then reminded of Percy.

"Can I go see him? I want to see him." She said, looking pleadingly at her Mother.

"After you get checked out, I want that cut on your arm dealt with."

She nodded, deciding she could see Percy quicker if she didn’t argue.

Notes:

I just can’t believe that none of Athena’s children have powers. Like, come on now Rick.

Also, can you tell where I got my inspiration for Annabeth’s power? Lol

(also, would you guys be interested in a list of everybody’s powers? I’m starting to work on an extras fic)

Next chapter will be out ether 31st or the 1st :)

Chapter 21: Safe and Sound

Summary:

"After this battle is over, I will enjoy ripping you, limb from limb" He growled

Notes:

Super short chapter today. Only around 1200 words

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Poseidon decided he was going to focus on Akhlys in this battle.

As much as he wanted to rip them all apart, he knew he could only focus on one.

At some point, Hera, Aphrodite, Ares and Hephaestus showed up, and that tilted the odds in their favor, a lot.

Hephaestus was called to the surf of the ocean though, because Amphitrite had found the reason Percy wasn’t healing in the water. It was because of the cuffs on his wrists. And Hephaestus could get them off.

Percy‘s magical healing was directly linked to his powers, if he was cut off from those powers, he wouldn’t heal in the water.

Akhlys threw poison at Posiedon, who ducked out of the way.

Poseidon then went to slash her with his trident. But she caught it.

Literally caught it. she now had two hand on his trident, and was trying to pull it from his grip.

The sea god stayed strong, not even flinching.

"After this battle is over, I will enjoy ripping you, limb from limb" He growled

Akhlys just laughed "I do not fear you, Earth shaker."

"You should."

He summoned the will of the seas and used the force to push her back.

He wasn’t  worried about keeping this part of the ocean calm anymore, he could sense that the chains restricting Percy’s healing had been removed, and he was in Atlantis with his stepmother.

He could still sense Triton and Kymopoleia in the waters. They were keeping their distance, but ready to help if needed.

Him and Akhlys went back and forth, trading blows. The two were an even match, and it was starting to make him more angry than he already was.

Then all of a sudden, Apollo (who had been fighting Eris) shouted something through the olympians mental connection, that made him rage.

"It’s a trick! They sent Ebon with a crystal infused with Akhlys power and broke the barrier! They are trying to take out the demigods!" The protector of youth said.

"If we leave, they get away." Ares said back, through the connection.

"But if we don’t leave, the demigods will keep getting attacked by monsters, and they can only last so long." Hermes argued

Demeter made a frustrated sound. "How long do you all think the demigod will last before they need help?"

"We have been fighting for almost half an hour. Camp is strong and can definitely take quite a few monsters, it’s just a question how many monsters are they getting attacked by." Athena spoke. (But not really spoke, because it was a mental conversation.)

Poseidon dodged another attack from Akhlys, going in for a series of his own strikes.

"I don’t know about you guys, but I personally don’t want to take any chances." Aphrodite said.

"I agree. We can deal with these guys later. I doubt they’re gonna stop doing what they’re doing anytime soon. We can let this battle go." Artemis reasoned.

Poseidon hated it, he wanted to destroy these three.

But he knew Percy would never look at him the same, if he was the reason Camp Halfblood suffered more losses. "It may be best to let this go… for now." He commented

Finally, Zeus spoke. "Fine. Retreat to camp half blood." He paused, "Poseidon, go see to your son."

He didn’t need to be told twice.

He shoved Akhlys 20 feet away from him, and flashed away with all the other God.

Catching a few words from Erebus before he fully disappeared. "Run then! We will strike again, when the time is right. But for now, be cowards."

Poseidon ignored him, going home to his son.

They could fight another day.

He went straight to Percy’s room.

Outside Percy’s door was Rhode, Kymopoleia and Benthesikyme. And he could feel Triton hovering silently in his own room.

He felt his heart warm at the sight of his daughters worried for their brother. He was worried they wouldn’t like Percy, because he had had a lot of  demigod sons before, and his daughters didn’t always like them.

Percy seemed to be the exception.

He nodded to his daughters, and entered Percy’s room.

His wife was sat at Percy’s bed side, and two mer healers had just finished looking him over.

"Your majesty." The elder healer greeted with a bow. "His injury’s are minimal, the worst of them the sea has healed. He dose have blood loss, but that should go away after a day or two. And he is slightly malnourished, but nothing a week or two of good food shouldn’t fix."

"Thank you." He said, dismissing the healers.

Percy was still asleep, resting in his bed. And Poseidon was so revealed he was home safe.

His wife looked up at him when he approached. "He’s a good boy." She said

Poseidon nodded. "He is."

"He certainly didn’t get that from you." She teased

He rolled his eyes. "His mother raised him well."

She hummed "She did. I will leave you two be. I’ll tell the girls he’s okay."

"Thank you, my love." He said to her.

Amphitrite smiled softly "Of course" and left the room.

Poseidon let his eyes fall to his sleeping boy, and sat down in the chair that his wife had been previously sitting on.

He just sat there for a moment, watching Percy breathe. The slow rise and fall of his chest…

He wanted to hold Percy. Pull his son into his arms and to his chest, and hold him until he woke.

But he hesitated. He didn’t want to scare Percy.

Percy had only recently stopped flinching at his light touches. And Poseidon knew why he flinched, heard whispers in the water of a man, that had hurt his son when he was nothing more the a toddler.

If he had known at the time, he would have put a stop to it then and there. But he didn’t know, not until the end of Percy first quest.

So he didn’t pick up his son and hold him. Not wanting to send him into a panic.

But then, Percy woke up.

He watched quietly, as his son took in where he was. He noticed how Percy relaxed a bit when he realized he was in his room.

Then Percy found his eyes. He fully relaxed

"Dad." He sounded relieved.

"Percy."

Percy didn’t say anything else. Only sitting up slowly, and reaching for him.

Poseidon met him half way, pulling his son into his arms.

Percy practically melted in his grip. Poseidon repositioned so he was sitting on his sons bed, so he could hold him closer

Percy buried his face into Poseidons chest, holding onto his shirt with a death grip.

Now, Percy wasn’t small by mortal standers, he was almost 6 foot tall, and if Poseidon were to guess he still had a couple inches left in him.

But Poseidon was over 7 feet tall in his mer form, so he dwarfed Percy. And Poseidon knew Percy was intimidated by it as first. but now. his son just hugged him, wanting comfort.

And so that’s what he did. He held Percy, for he didn’t know how long.

He was going to destroy Akhlys for taking his son away from him.

But right now, he just offered comfort.

Chapter Text

About an hour after hugging his dad, Percy wanted to see his friends. But Poseidon was not keen on letting Percy out of his sight so soon.

"Dad, I’m okay! The ocean healed the worst of my wounds, and I won’t leave Camp!" Percy argued.

His dad sighed "I would like you to stay here for at least the night, to make sure you are fully okay. You are still suffering from blood loss. And camp might not be safe after the attack."

What?

"Camp was attacked?! When? How bad!?" He asked, quickly.

"Percy, calm down-"

"Take me to camp." He demanded

"I just got you back. I’m not risking you getting hurt again." Poseidon said firmly.

Percy scoffed "I’m a Demigod, I take risks all the time. I need to be there. I have to help."

His dad stayed firm.

Fine . Percy thought. We’ll do this the hard way

Percy’s dad may have only been an active parent for a few weeks, but Percy had learned how to get what he wants when it really comes down to it.

Percy did his best puppy dog eyes. "Please, Μπαμπάς. I want to see my friends."

He was really pulling out all the stops here. The puppy dog eyes, and speaking Greek. There was no way his dad could say no.

Just like Percy expected, his dad’s eyes softened, and he relented.

"Fine. But, you will come straight back here, because it is getting late, and I don’t want you out at night. I will also be going to camp to talk with Dionysus about something, so when you are done, you will find me." His dad explained

Percy nodded. Those were fair terms.

His dad sighed. "Go get your phone, it’s in your night stand, you left it here, then we’ll be on our way."

Percy ran and grabbed his phone. Which had 135 unread messages, 100 miss calls, 3 of which were from his mom, who didn’t know he had been kidnapped for 5 days.

That’ll be a fun conversation

He ran back to his dad, and they flashed to camp.

They flashed into the big house living room. Chiron sat in his wheelchair, Mr.D sat in the arm chair, and Hermes on the couch, holding his youngest daughter, Tessa.

"Percy, it’s good to see you back." Chiron said.

Percy nodded "Good to be back." Then he made eye contact with Mr.D "How bad is it?" He asked, getting straight to the point

Mr.D sighed "You were just kidnapped for 5 days. Don’t you- I don’t know, want to sit down for a second?"

Percy just looked at him. Eyebrow raised.

The gods of wine sighed again. "We’re in the medical stage now. No deaths yet. We got; 6 mildly injured, 6 moderately injured, 3 seriously injured, and 4 in critical condition. So in total 19 that require infirmary visits. Of course, almost everybody’s got a couple of scratches and bruises, but that’s how many are in the infirmary." He told Percy.

"Who’s critical?" Percy asked

"Elenor May, her stomach was slashed open. Nyssa Barrena, She has second to third degree acid burns. Clovis Bradford, He’s got multiple broken ribs and a pierced lung. And Laurel Victor, She also has second to third degree acid burns." Mr.D told him.

Percy didn’t linger in the fact that he used all of their real names.

"That’s the update we had 30 minutes ago. It might have changed now. Are you going that way?" Hermes asked

Percy nodded "That’s my first stop."

"Do you think you could check on Conner and Travis for me?" The god of messages asked "Travis is in serious condition with second degree acid burns, and Conner just has Minor injuries… but if I move, she’ll wake up-" he gestured to the sleeping child in his arm "but I want to make sure-"

"I’ll check on them." He confirmed

Hermes nodded "Thanks kiddo.”

Percy left the big house, going straight for the infirmary, and running through who was critical in his head, so he knew who to ask about first.

Eleanor May, Cabin 4. 14 years old. Third year. With an abdomen injury.

Nyssa Barrena, second in command of Cabin 9. 16 years old. Forth year. Acid burns.

Clovis Bradford, Head of cabin 15. 16 years old. Third year. Punctured lung.

Laurel Victor, Head of Cabin 17.  14 Years old. Third year. Acid Burns.

Percy prepared himself for the worst, but hoped for the best.

He entered the infirmary quietly, slipping in unnoticed.

He was looking for someone who was helping out, someone it wouldn’t kill to distract. That way he could get a report.

He caught sight of Isabella from cabin 10, she was helping out. She was a third year, so she would know what was going on.

"Isabella!" He whisper shouted

She turned and her eyes went wide. "Percy!" She said, approaching him. "I’m so glad you’re okay! Are you hurt at all?"

He shook his head. "I’m okay now. Can you give me an update? Tell me the stuff you think I’d really need to know." He said

She nodded "Umm. Eleanor and Laurel are no longer critical. Will is working on Clovis and Apollo is working on Nyssa. All of the big three kids- minus you- all have ability exhaustion, and moderate to minor injuries. Our youngest injured is Alina, she got caught by a monster while running away, but she only has a sprained ankle- thank the gods. And Annabeth only has Moderate injuries."

He nodded along. "Thank you Isabella. You can go back to work now."

She ran off not a second later

Percy stayed out of the way for a moment, scanning the infirmary.

It was slammed.

Every cot was full, he saw Thalia sitting in the floor next Jason’s cot. Thalia looked uninjured and Jason just looked like he got hit in the head a few times. Nothing out of the ordinary for him.

Now, Percy wasn’t a child of Apollo when it came to medical care. Nowhere even close. But he had been a Demigod for a while. He knew how to do stitches and how to relocate a bone, he knew how to apply burn cream, Etc…

He could help with minor to moderate injury’s, depending on the injury itself.

Cabin 7 knew this, and in situations like this, anybody who knew how to hold bandages was asked to help.

So when he caught sight of Kayla, with a stitches kit in her hands, he approached her.

"Where do you want me?" He asked.

Her head wiped around. "Percy! Oh my gods, I’m so glad you’re okay. What happened- gah! Never mind. We’ll talk about that later. If you want, you can go stitch up your girlfriend and Nico, that way they can help out as well." She grinned, already handing him the stitches Kit.

"Got it." He scanned the infirmary and spotted Annabeth and Nico sharing a cot in the corner, because there wasn’t enough cots for both of them, and they could both sit up just fine.

He approached them. "I live." He said, doing his best ghost impression.

They both snapped their heads toward him. "Percy!" They both said.

He walked over, and hugged Annabeth, being able to tell Nico wasn’t in a hugging mood.

"You are so lucky that I’m hurt, or else I’d judo flip you right here and now." She threatened.

He laughed "Got it. Sorry for going missing again."

She rolled her eyes "you’re forgiven. Now stitch me up, I want to help."

Annabeth had two slashes on her arm, they were clean cuts, so it easy to stitch. After he stitched it up, he put anti-infected cream on it to prevent it from getting infected.

After he fixed up Annabeth, she pecked him on the cheek, and went to help elsewhere in the crowded infirmary.

Nico was also easy to stitch up. He just had a single gash on the back of his shoulder.

After that, it was pretty straight forward. Those who weren’t experienced medics, but sort of knew what they were doing, (I.e. Anyone who wasn’t a Cabin 7 kid) was tasked with minor to moderate injuries.

That way, the more experienced ones could focus on the critical and serious injuries, which took a lot more time to take care off.

It took about an hour until the extra help was no longer needed. It was now close to 10:00 pm.

Everyone who wasn’t spending the night in the infirmary was kicked out. Told to go rest.

So, Percy, Annabeth, Grover, Nico, Thalia, Hazel and Frank all sat in a circle in the grass under the stars, right next to the infirmary.

They would’ve had more people, but, Jason was being kept over night, Leo wanted to stay with with him, (and didn’t take no for an answer),Piper was with Alina in her cabin, and Katie was with Eleanor and Travis.

So it was just them.

They all just talked. Percy told them everything that happened, they filled him in on everthing while he was gone. Told him that the barrier was fixed. (Hecate and Athena fixed it right after Annabeth got to the infirmary)

It was just the calm after the storm

"Being disconnected from your parents domain like that…" Nico said at one point. "That’s sounds awful"

Percy made a face "it wasn’t fun, that’s for sure."

"Speaking of connections with our parents domains. Did I tell you guys a got a power today?" Annabeth cut in

"No?!" Hazel said.

"What is it?" Percy asked

Annabeth thought for a moment. "I don’t know. It’s like- how do I describe it. Everything gets tented kind of bluish in my eyes, and time slows down, and I become super hyper aware. But not like demigod ADHD, it’s different than that. It’s like my mind is thinking so fast my body can’t keep up, and so everything slows down around me." She tried to explain

"Wait, that’s so cool." Frank said.

Percy nodded. "Proud of you wise girl."

Annabeth smiled "Thanks"

It was then, that his phone rang. He picked up his phone and felt his heart drop.

The caller I.D 'Mom' was shown on his screen.

He answered "Hey mom."

"Percy! I was just calling to check in, you know I try not to call you durning camp- I know you’re busy. But you didn’t answer my last three phone calls so I got worried." She sounded so happy to talk to him.

But now, Percy was faced with a dilemma. How much did his tell his mom?

Look. Percy loved his mom with all his heart, he really did. He would do anything for her. But their relationship was far from perfect.

As Percy got older, and was becoming an adult, he and his mom had just started naturally growing apart. There wasn’t any malice or anything, it was just… Percy getting older, and Sally having a new baby to worry about… She didn’t love him any less, he knew that for sure . But a young toddler requires a lot more attention than an almost-18-year-old.

Also, after he was missing for 9 months (and she had another kid) demigod stuff started making her a little more nervous than usual. And it had slowly been putting strain on their relationship.

And Percy got it, he really did. And he didn’t blame his mom at all… but he didn’t want to stress her out or worry her.

So he had stopped telling her everything that happened in his demigod life. Leaving out details here and there.

If she heard that, they may or may not be at war again… she would freak.

"Percy?"

Fuck, he had been quiet for to long.

"I’m here. Sorry for not answering your calls, something came up." He said

Annabeth shot him a look the screamed 'Heads Up' and her eyes shot over his shoulder.

She was telling him that someone was coming up behind him.

"Somthing came up? Like a quest? Did you go a on quest?" His mom asked, worried.

He heard footsteps behind him. But no one looked worried, so he ignored it.

"No mom, I didn’t go on a quest. Um," he sighed. He decided it would be best, to go with a half truth "Camp was attacked by some monsters. The barrier failed for a few hours. But we are all okay."

His mom sighed "Well as long as you’re okay."

"I’m okay, I promise. I’ll call you in the morning." He said.

"Okay. I love you."

"Love you too. Bye."

And he hung up.

"Your mother?" His dad asked from behind him.

He sighed "Yeah. Are we heading back?"

"Awe, No!" Grover whined "But you just got here!"

"I’ll be back tomorrow G-Man. I’ll see you then." He promised

Nico snorted "Ha, you’re grounded."

"I’m not grounded." Percy said, as he stood up.

"Your one to talk Nico, don’t have have to stay with your dad too, since you overdid your shadow travel?" Thalia teased "So really, your the one whose grounded"

Nico made a noise that sounded vaguely like an angry kitten.

"Hazel and I are gunna be heading out the day after tomorrow. We wanted to stay for the solstice, but we are being called back to Rome" Frank cut in.

Percy nodded, that made sense.

"But we’ll hang out loads in the fall when you two are at NRU" Hazel said, excitedly

Annabeth grinned.

His dad grabbed his wrist, letting him know it’s time to go.

"Well I gotta bounce." He leaned down and kissed Annabeth on the cheek. "Love you. I’ll text you when I wake up."

"Love you too. Bye."

And the father and son flashed home.

They flashed into the living room of the Royal family’s wing of the palace.

"You didn’t tell your mother you were kidnapped." His dad noted.

Percy sighed. "I don’t want to worry her. She has enough on her plate. Not to mention, she doesn’t even know about me fighting Ak-" He stumbled over the name. " Her, in the pit. All she knows is that I went to the pit, closed the doors with Annabeth, and got out."

"Doesn’t she deserve to know?" His dad asked. Nothing accusing in his tone, just genuine curiosity.

Percy ran his hands down his face "It’s not the she doesn’t deserve to know, it just that I don’t feel the need to tell her…" he sighed again. "I don’t know how to put it into words. But it just feels like Mom and- I don’t… ugh, I don’t know! Talk anymore?"

He sat down in the couch. His dad sat next to him.

"I love Mom. So, So much. But sometimes, there are things that I shouldn’t- that I can’t, tell her. It feels like we are growing apart. And the scary part is, that I’m neutral to the idea of it." He tried to explain.

Poseidon hummed "Well. There are a lot of things that Sally just wouldn’t understand about being apart if our world. She would do her best, but she is still mortal. A Queen amongst them, but still a mortal nonetheless." His dad thought for a moment. "You two growing apart could just be you getting older… but you talk as if there is more to it than just that."

It was an offer. An unspoken plea of 'Tell me.' It was a can of worms Percy really didn’t want to open right now.

Because he knew what he wanted to say, but knew that his dad would have more questions after he said it.

But, when he had talked to Pollux about it briefly, he had said it might be good for him to tell someone he trusted about how he felt about the whole thing.

He trusted his dad, and was too tired to think about how tired he was.

"I think I kinda… I don’t know if 'resentment' or 'Anger' are the correct words to use. But I’m gunna use anger." He paused taking a breath "I think I have a lot of past anger toward my mom… for actions she took when I was a kid… and it sucks, because she was doing it to protect me, and I feel really bad, for being angry about it- but sometimes- sometimes I feel it did more harm then good. And I think, a part of me- a part that I try to bury- blames mom…" he explained in as vague terms as possible.

But in even in vague terms, his dad put it together. "Your mother marrying her first husband?” He asked, cautiously.

Percy made a face. Deciding suddenly, he didn’t want to get into it. "Never mind. I have no anger towards mom for anything. I’m just getting older, and we are growing apart. It’s fine! and it’s normal for kids to grow away from their parents anyway. I’m overthinking it." He rambled.

"Percy-" his dad tried

"I’m going to bed. It’s been a long day." He stood up and started walking to his room.

But, his dad was persistent as the rising tide.

"Percy, did your first stepfather abuse you?"

Percy stoped.

He had only gone into details with Annabeth and Thalia about smelly Gabe.

But his dad had figured it out. And Percy was caught in the wave of comfort at the thought of telling his dad everything.

Because he knew, that his dad would just hug him, and tell him it was okay.

But on the flip side, he was terrified of being seen as weak. For being unable to defend himself.

Percy knew that, if he started talking to his dad, he wouldn’t stop. Everything would come into the light… everything

His dad had been so kind to him. So gentle… he didn’t know if he could bare the look on his dad’s face if he knew everything.

Percy had a choice to make. He could walk to his room, and go to sleep. Or he could turn around and face his dad.

Turning around ment opening up… and that was hard for Percy. He had he built his walls so high, and his dad has started to chip at them. but was Percy ready for them to crumble?

No.

We wasn’t ready. Percy was a coward.

He didn’t answer his dad. He instead, walked to his room, and went to sleep.

Notes:

Μπαμπάς = Dad
(All Greek is Google translate!)

I love, Sally. So so much

But I feel like in this fic, (partially for narrative purposes) her and Percy‘s relationship isn’t perfect

(and I feel like even in Canon it isn’t perfect, but what parent-child relationship is?)

I don’t plan on getting into Sally bashing territory. I did seriously consider putting the tag on this fic, but I just don’t think it’s worthy of it.

I feel like this is just a mother and son struggling with change.

Percy’s growing up.

And Sally has Estelle, who is really young and requires a lot of attention. Therefore, she can’t give as much attention to Percy as she used to.

which is okay!!

Percy is (Almost) an adult. So it’s a natural for him to not tell his mother everything about his life.

not to mention, Percy is a demigod. There are lots of things that he simply cannot tell his mom. not because she wouldn’t be supportive, but because she just wouldn’t understand. and that’s not her fault.

Sally truly loves Percy and would kill for that boy.

But she made a mistake in Marrying Gabe. And Percy has every right to feel resentment toward her for that.

yes, she suffered too, and he would never discount that. But she was his mother and it was her job to protect him.
And she tried her absolute best!

But parents make mistakes.

I feel like as Percy gets older. He begins to realize that it’s ok to be angry at his mom for that.

I feel like he hates it though, because that’s his Mama. And he’s mad at her. And he doesn’t want to be mad.

But that’s okay. As long as he’s not doing anything destructive, I would say it’s even healthy to feel that emotion and work through it.

Now. You may notice that this is the last chapter of this Fic.

But.THIS IS NOT WERE THE STORY ENDS!

You may notice, this work is in a series!

'The tides that bring us home'

everything in this series, I am placing in chronological order.

I will be writing one shots in this universe.
I will be writing a full length fanfictions in this universe.
Etc…

I am also actively working on an extras work, that will list a bunch of head cannons that I am making cannon and a list of all the characters powers.
So let me know things that you would like to see in that!

But everything will be connected.

I thought about making one mega fanfiction, but I decided that I would rather just put everything into a series.
