Chapter Text

Russandol stared into Findecáno´s light blue eyes from where he himself sat in the bed. The bed in his brother´s camp, not the one Findecáno had given him after steal- rescuing him.

Generous Findecáno.

Brave Findecáno

Beautiful Findecáno.

Findecáno.

Findecáno with the pretty eyes, Russandol hummed to himself, reaching a hand, his left hand, up to tug a curl away from Findecáno´s golden face and behind his golden ear, heavy with metal and stones.

Looking back to Findecáno´s pretty face, Russandol admired the beauty again even when adorned with specks of gold and black from Findecáno´s impatient atempt to clean his face after the feast. How lucky he was. To be graced by such pretty and golden company, and he could not speak against it for Findecáno would object then. At least not aloud.

Findecáno with the tired eyes, he noted to himself, for the smudged black under the light glowing blue, where more than just leftover coal and galena. A purplish undertone was under Findecáno´s half opened, or half closed, eyes.

“Do you like them Russo? They are a gift from thy brother,” Findecáno said with a slack mouth, the last was huffed out with a wry smile, that was just a bit smaller than usual. As if simply opening his mouth was too much work for tired Findecáno.

Russandol looked confused at him. Yes, he liked Findecáno´s eyes, but his brother had not made Findecáno´s eyes? Findecáno´s eyes were not of glass as one of Atarhanno´s eyes were, and that was neither of his brothers who had made that.

He nodded. He liked Findecáno´s eyes. They were bright, but not like a fire, more like a star far away, that was suddenly right before him. So close a light. He liked that. They didn´t burn he thought happily with a small smile, and Findecáno laughed.

“Let go of it so I can take it off, then I will give it to you, but I think it is very pretty and would like it back at the next feast.”

Russandol looked to his left hand and found it clutching Findecáno´s golden earring, set with blue and white stones. Findecáno likely knew their name. As did Atar.

Atar.

“I love you,” he said hoarsely, light enough not to have been heard if they were still in a tent, he thinks. There was a lot of noise in the tent.

“I love you too, Russo,” Findecáno said, and Russandol flinched back in shock, before his eyes landed on Findecáno´s own hands that were now reaching for his left one, and hurriedly retreated so as not to have it hurt- so as not to irritate Findecáno.

“I love you,” he said again.

Smiling Findecáno removed his jewelry and outer robes, till he stood in his skjorte only, all the while telling Russandol that he loved him more, and Russandol shut up, for Findecáno was smarter than he was.

He wanted to tell Findecáno how pretty he was, and he should but…

“-Dol?” he looked up at Findecáno again, who had wiped his face in something, his sleeve, he noticed, looking down to Findecáno´s hand hoovering over his own. Findecáno´s hand offering two beautiful big earrings, the ones he had been wearing. The other, smaller earrings were out of Russandol´s sight, yet he opened his hand, slightly looking up at Findecáno, who smiled down at him as he placed them in Russandol´s pale grey stone hand with his golden, warm hand.

The metal was cold, and Russandol almost let them fall to the floor, but he knew better. Instead, he gave them back to Findecáno, “you match.”

Findecáno looked cunfussed and Russandol gulped. He thought he was good at words when he was younger, but sometimes his mind deceived him and gave him false memories.

“You are both golden and sat with stars,” how horrible. How utterly horrible, and how simple, but he didn´t know how else to explain it, and Findecáno had asked. More or less at least. And now he looked… he looked… he laughed? By Russandol´s stupid and simple words, no doubt.

Findecáno deserved better words.

“You are most a charmer my Russo,” Findecáno  said, reaching down to take the earrings back and kiss Russandol´s, who had gone still, nose with his gold flacked lips, before leaning his gold flacked cheek on Russandol´s cheek as he hummed and put the earrings back on, and Russandol reaching towards his waist and hugged him and he hugged him back as he fell down on Russandol with a song on his closed lips.
