Chapter Text

Bonnibel stood perched at the doorway as her lover gave her parting kisses and whispers of sweet nothings for when she would get back. She'd smirk and wave off Marceline, before her dear brother would walk past her and hug her tightly, before whispering nervously in that quiet voice he only used when other people were around.

"Do you have t-to go, Bonnie?"

She would smile softly before pressing a sisterly kiss to his forehead, taking his head in her hands before patting his noggin affectionately.

"Ned, we've been over this, bud. This is the last trip I have to take. Pep But and Aunt Lolly are taking care of everything from now on. Just... one last trip."

Neddy would frown, his lips turning downward from their usual neutral resting place on his pink face.

"Can't I come with?" He asked, indignantly.

"This will be good for you. It'll give you a chance to talk to Marcy more, okay? Just give it a shot. For me, okay?"

He would look up to her expecting glance, before nodding solemnly.

"O-okay, Bonnie... I love you."

"I love you too, bro."

She'd squeeze him just one more time before waving to the "duo" and closing the door, leaving the gummy man and the palish-blue-gray (now that he thought about it, it was quite difficult to put a distinct color to her) woman to themselves in the small home. Marceline would softly smile at him, and he would return the favor by beginning to slowly shuffle back to his room, which was on the third cupola of her house, like a little castle for him. Or something like that. Neddy didn't particularly care for being so far from the outside where he could visit his tree seedling that Bonnie had brought with them. He sort of had grown to live without it, but it and it's rootbeer secretions gave him much comfort when he was having a meltdown. Marceline would lightly press on his arm, causing him to jump slightly before looking up.

"Hey, Neddy... Why don't we do something? I bet Bonnie probably doesn't want us just acting like we don't exist, huh?"

Neddy would look up and his eyes would focus on her neck, avoiding contact with her dark eyes. He thought they felt like they were boring down into his, and he didn't like that very much. He wasn't really sure why exactly his sister loved them so much. They creeped him out, like a lot of other things Marceline's house had. He disliked the way that-

"Neddy? You there?" She spoke, suddenly.

He would snap out of his trance before quietly speaking.

"I- Uhm... M-maybe... I was g-gonna go to my room, t-though."

Marceline would thoughtfully nod, as if she were pondering something before speaking again.

"You sure? Finn dropped off some new movies him and Jake found. You not interested at all...?"

He'd take sometime himself to ponder. Bonnibel usually made him sit through the movies that Finn and Jake turned up, like she was trying to get him to try new things. Despite that, the movies were actually pretty good. Sometimes. Was it worth it?

"Just give it a shot. For me okay?" Bonnibel's voice rang through his mind and cut through the din as if a church bell pealing woke a sleepy town.

He internally groaned, before hesitantly nodding. He might be wrong about this, but he usually was never wrong, he thought.
