An unexpected turn of events

Summary:

The weight of having to sacrifice Azure is too much for Two Time to bare, especially after an unexpected turn of events.

 

OR; Two Time finds out their pregnant, and everything gets too much to deal with.

this is a bit rushed im sorry odk how to make my writting not seem too rushy..

Chapter 1: What?

Two time had spent the past days trying to distract themselves with anything. Any chores they could get. They used any stupid excuse they could to avoid Azure.

 

They could see Azure from the corner of their eye looking at them with a noticable sad expression. Their distance didn't go unnoticed. 

 

They couldn't look at him. It physically hurt. They wanted him by their side but at the same time.. they needed distance from him, and anyone from that matter.

 

Their hands tightened around the broom they were holding. They didn't want to think of it at the moment. Solitude was the only thing keeping them sane at the moment.

 

 

 

 

Once they made their way to their room late in the evening, the sun had already set. Their cabin was lit solely by the moon's light. They sighed as they closed the door behind them. 

 

They walked to the candle sitting on the night stand right next to their bed. And grabbed a box of matches, opening it, and grabbing a singular match. With a swift motion they ignited the match, a single flame made an appearance, and with that they lit the candle.

 

With that done, they sat on their bed. A shaky hand made its way to their stomach. Rubbing it slightly. A stuttered breath leaving their mouth. They stared blankly at the floor. As their mind got consumed by their thoughts.

 

A couple of months ago the church had first tasked them with Azures sacrifice. They were running out of excuses to delay it any longer. Even they could see that. The thought already hurt them.. but now.. it felt like it hurt even more. It was almost unbearable.

 

They felt cold sweat run down their forehead. Feeling nervous. Feeling a lump grow inside their throat as they tried to fight back tears.

 

Spawn what are they gonna do..The church is expecting the to sacrifice to take place really soon. The final test of their ultimate devotion..  They should have been thrilled! And they feel ashamed to admit that for a while..they were. The reward.. was unimaginably great. But the loss... 

....

The more they thought about it the more sick they felt.

 

The thought alone made them tremble.

 

The tears had inevitably started running down their cheeks as the thoughts of the sacrifice ran through their mind like a marathon. Now the thoughts hurting more than ever.

 

Silent sobs left their mouth. Quiet pleas and prayers could be heard. "I– I can not do this. Especially not now— not when..." They cut themselves off. Their cries getting even louder. They buried their face in their hands. Spawn they felt helpless.

 

 

A small knock of glass was heard from behind them. They jumped frightened, as they quickly wiped a couple of tear from their face. They knew who it was. Seems like he had noticed their sudden avoidance. 

 

They exhaled a long stuttered breath as they contemplated whether they should make themselves known or not. But... he could probably see the light of the candle through their curtains. 

 

They reluctantly turned around, and with trembling hands slid the curtains. And as expected, Azure sat there, a small frown on his face.

 

They opened the window, a cold breeze immediately hitting their face, making them slightly untense.

 

"Took you a while," said Azure in a low tone. He wasn't mad, they could tell. Yet.. they couldn't help the anxiety rising within them at the fact they were about to be confronted.

 

"You shouldn't be here." Said Two Time another weak excuse to drive him away. They avoided his gaze. 

 

Azure couldn't help but deepen his frown. No doubt noticing the shake in Two Times' hushed voice. "My nightshade are you okay? You seem more destand lately.." He asked them, concern lacing his voice. "Do you want to talk about it? May I come in?" He said motioning with his finger inside their cabin. Silently hoping that they would let him inside. 

 

Two Time thinks for a moment, they really don't want to be alone at the moment, but.. are they even ready to explain the situation to him? 

 

Azure, taking notice of Two times pause brings one of his hands up to their face, cupping one of their cheeks. Two Times frown deepened as they leaned into his touch, closing their eyes. They let themselves, if even for just a moment, wash their worries away.

 

"You know you can tell me if something is wrong, right?" He says a soft smile appearing on his face.

 

Two Time opened their eyes and finally looked at him, then nodded. Making way for Azure to jump up from outside inside their cabin. However much their head screamed at them to push him away, their heart just screamed for his presence.  They needed him by their side.

 

Azure's hopeful smile grew. He retracted his hand from Two times cheek and with a quick motion jumped, and sat on the bed careful to not let his boots onto their soft bed covers. 

 

He closed the window and blinds from behind and then swiftly turned his body around, now taking notice of Two Times puffy eyes. The smile that was hanging from his lips formed a frown once again as he looked at them. "Oh Two Time.. have you been crying flower? What happened?" He said in a soft tone. Worry lacing his voice.

 

Two Time felt like giving up their restraint at that moment. Azure's mere presence made them feel.. safe. Like they could just give up and cry. Like if he was just by their side.. everything would be okay. 

 

Without even noticing, tears started running down their cheeks uncontrollably.

 

Azure was stunned. "Oh my nightshade.." He said, feeling his heart break for his beloved. He extended his arms inviting them in for a hug.

 

Upon noticing, Two time practically jumped in his embrace, burring their head into the crook of his neck and just completely letting go. Loud cries escaping their mouth.

 

Azure hugged them back, saying nothing. He didn't need to hear what happened. Not if they didn't want to tell him yet, at least. He let them cry into his shoulder, rubbing soothing circles on their back.

 

 

 

 

After a while of quietly sobbing into their partner's shoulder. They felt themselves calm down. Slowly, they pulled away from the hug, their arms now laying on top of Azure's shoulders. 

 

They sniffled, and turned their gaze to look up at Azure.

 

"Are you feeling any better?" Azure asked, voice low, the same reassuring smile sitting on his face. Just for them.

 

Two Time felt themselves smile for a moment, before that smile fell, forming another frown. They let out a breath they didn't know they were holding in, and then turned their gaze away, avoiding eye contact. They couldn't bare to look at him. Not when they knew what was planned for him. 

 

Their heart felt heavy with guilt for something they hadn't even done yet. Perhaps.. they could share one of those burdens for now. They took in a long breath, and then unexpectedly blurted out the words "I'm pregnant." Immediately regretting having said them. They grimaced upon realising just what they had blurted out.

 

Azure looked at them blankly, as he took in the words slowly processing them in his mind. Too slowly, if you asked Two Time. They felt anxiety start building inside them the longer Azure took to say something. Anything! 

 

His mouth gaped open as the words finally hit him.

 

"What?" He said thunderstrucked. Two Times frown deepened. Perhaps they shouldn't have said anything.

 

Chapter 2

really sorry for this taking so long! I don't often get the motivation to write.. and the times i DID get motivation i just kept rewriting the whole chapter LOLLLL

I will try to update this again as soon as possible!! But i can't promise anything..

Really sorry if the writing is bad!!! At the time im writing this its 4am,

Two time looked away. Almost immediatly regreting their words. Spawn they had been so stupid! How could they let themslves just slip up like that?? 

 

They turned their gaze away in shame. Only for Azures guilty, panicked voice to pop out loudly. 

 

 

"No No No No flower please do not look so down! I am not mad nor upset you needn't worry!" He said in a panic as he slowly turned their head from their chin. And cupping their cheeks with soft hands. 

 

"You just... You caught me off guard is all!" He said an awkard chuckle escaping his lips. "Are you.. Are you certain?" He asked his voice laced with concern. 

 

Looking into his worried eyes Two Time felt a sudden strong surge of guilt running through them. A single tear made its way down their face as they nodded. "I am." They chocked out. That's all they could say. That's all that was able to come out their mouth before their lip trembled. It almost seemed like they were trying to supress a sob. And perphas, thats what they were doing. 

 

Azure felt his heart break. The room suddenly got a lot darker as the flame of the candle flickered. 

 

"Oh my flower.. Everything is gonna be okay. Alright? I am here for you, i always will be, we will go through this together. I will not let you do this alone." He said his voice breaking in certain parts. As if he himself was trying to hold back tears watching their lover in such a state. "I would never do this to you. Never." He said. Moving strands of hair away from their face. Pulling them in for a tight hug.

 

Two Time felt a lump on their throat. Preventing them from saying anything. Azures words had hit them like a dagger straight through the heart. It was enough for them to start sobbing once more onto his shoulder.

 

Their muffled sobs filled the room. This time, louder. As if there was more to them than what they let on. Azure just hugged them tighter. Rubbing soothing cyrcled on their back in an attempt to ground their partner and maybe, even himself.

 

 

 

 

He craddled their form till the very last tear. Rocking them left and right in an attempt to calm them. And after what felt like forever to them, Two Times sobs finally came to a halt.

 

The candle had by their bed had suddenly  regained its light, dim, but still there. The two were sitting in a comforting, yet heavy silence. 

 

Two Time felt tired. Drained even.

 

 

But, they just couldn't let themselves doze off. The soothing cyrcles that Azure was still rubbing in their back didn't help with that. It was like he WANTED them to fall asleep.

 

"Stop that. You're making me sleepy." They said, their eyes barely open.

 

Azure chuckled. "Well what's wrong with that? It is late after all." He said, voice low, and comforting.

 

Two Time groaned. As they buried their face onto his chest. "you know why." They said tiredly. 

 

Azure smiled. "I will be out before the sun rises?" 

 

"You wouldn't. You never are." They said, voice sounding almost annoyed. 

 

"I will!" Two Time groaned loudly. Slightly annoyed at Azures percisistance. But eventually just sighed. Reluctantly agreed.

 

"Fine. But you better be out before sunrise. Alright?" They said trying to repress a smile. They did miss spending the night with him. it had been a while afterall.

 

Azure chuckled. "I knew you couldn't say no to me." he said as he let go of Two Time. They were saddned by the sudden loss of contact. But in the end just let themselevs fall onto the bed on their back.

 

After Azure took off his boots, and put them neatly to the side, he crawled to Two Times side and fell right next to them. The deem light of the candle no longer flickered. Instead, it shined next to the two while they stared lovingly at eachother. 

 

Two Time let themselves smile. They missed this. They missed spending their nights next to him. They missed waking up to his embrace. Even if those times were numbred. They remembered how eager they always were for those days.

 

Just then, Azure cupped one of Two Times cheeks and leaned in to place a loving kiss on their temple. His own way of telling them that everything was gonna be okay. Despite everything. 

 

All that sobbing had left them feeling so tired that for a moment, they forgot about the task given to them. They forgot about the churches pressure. They forgot about the news they had revealed to him just earlier. All that mattered was just them two at the moment. They had time to figure out everything else.

 

And perphas if they closed their eyes, and tried hard enough. They could pretend that everything was the same. That everything was no different from a couple months ago. That nothing had changed.

 

And that thought, even if a delusion, gave them comfort. Maybe even hope for the future.

 

 

"How about we go to the field you love so much tomorrow night?" Azures voice suddenly cut through their thoughts.

 

Two Time laughed and then looked at Azure with a smirk. "You mean the field YOU love so much." they said with a chuckle.

 

Azure looked at them witha shocked face. "What! Come onnn you said you really liked it!!" He said with a pout. "And besides, it has a great view of the stars. I know you like to observe them." He said, his thumbs brushing their cheek lightly. He was right. They couldn't deny it. Something about the stars.. something about how far away, and how bright they shined even when the world was its darkest, captivated them. They truly couldn't wrap their head around it. But their gaze was always drawned to them.

 

And with a final laugh they spoke. "Yeah.. i supposed that would be nice." They said, a small smile appearing on their face.

 

They closed their eyes and melted into his chest. They wrapped their arms around him. Bringing him closer.

 

He in turn wrapped his own arms around their waist, his head resting on top of theirs in a comfortable position.

 

For the first time in a while. They felt safe. Truly secure. Perphas it was the fog granted to them by the lack of sleep. But at least for now after weeks, they could sleep peacefully. 

 

The candles light died down slowly, steadily if u will. and then drifted into pure darkness as the two figures laid on the bed now unmoving, clinging to eachother as they fell into a deep slumber.

 

The only source of light, now being the stars, shining bright into the night sky. Despite eveything

Im trying to make the pregnancy not be their main focus at the moment... But i am planning on focusing more on it in the next chapters!!
