A knot of limbs peeked out from the blanket.
“Guess how much I love you,” Akali said. The morning had yet to begin.
“How much?” Evelynn asked.
The answer perched between the pillows, still in the weighty darkness that closed the curtains and locked the doors, hungry to be made real by any means necessary.
“Enough to fill a bathtub.”
Pause. “That’s it?”
“This room?”
The answer was rather skittish.
“The pool,” Evelynn continued.
“The ocean.”
“The whole world.”
“The universe!” Akali exclaimed, catching the answer by the tail. “Every molecule in the universe.”
“Hmm, I suppose that will do.”
