The keys rattled obnoxiously as Aoki, with much difficulty, tried to open the door to his apartment. He was so tired from a particularly difficult bunch of lectures and the frustration was getting to him, just as he was about to scream in frustration, the doorknob decided to be kind and finally open. He sighed in relief as he walked in, taking off his shoes as lazily as possible. It was then that he realized how quiet the place was, it was a little odd. Ever since he and Ida had finally moved in together the place always felt a little livelier when he got home, whether it was because of a video playing in the background, music, or even cooking sometimes, if Ida was feeling bold. Aoki loved this feeling of peacefulness and preferred getting home after Ida did.
The stillness was unusual, and so Aoki navigated their apartment with cautiousness. He left his bag on the small couch they had and opened the door to their bedroom, which was right beside the couch because of how cramped their apartment was. He opened it slowly and peeked his head inside, soon he spotted Ida. Lying on his side and peacefully dozed off, Aoki’s heart fluttered with love as a dumb smile tugged at his lips. He opened the door with even more care and let himself inside, tiptoeing to the bed. He looked down at Ida and couldn’t help the enamored sigh that escaped his mouth.
Ida lain there, on their bed, handsome as ever with his long, boyish lashes. Beautifully arched brows that softened in the state of unawareness he was in. His full lips just slightly parted in a way it made Aoki’s heart thump like they were back in their third year of school. Aoki huffed, a little embarrassed, he used to be so silly when being around Ida.
Aoki crouched down to look at Ida a little closer, from here, he could feel his breath just a hair too far from his face, could see the way his eyelashes fluttered every once in a while and how his hair stuck out in a disorganized manner, some sticking to his forehead while others seemingly trying to escape his scalp. This sight was rather unusual since Aoki is terrible at waking up in the mornings, it felt nice, it gave him peace after such a tiresome day.
Aoki couldn’t help but keep watching his boyfriend in this relaxed state, and after a while, he started feeling sleepy too, the warmth of his heart threatening to lull him to sleep. He reached for Ida’s hair, smoothing out the pieces that stuck out too much, quietly chuckling to himself when some of them immediately sprung back. At some point he went back to looking at Ida’s face while he kept stroking his hair, going from the fluff on the top to the spikey hairs on his nape.
He was so entranced he didn’t realize Ida’s eyelashes fluttering just a bit too much and his eyebrows furrowing the tiniest bit until Ida’s eyes were halfway open, Aoki cursed himself for waking him up and stopped caressing Ida, praying that he would go back to sleep. Ida’s eyes opened lazily, looking at him with a drowsy expression. They stayed like that for a little bit until Aoki chuckled and brushed some hairs out of Ida’s forehead.
“I’m home.” He whispered with a dumb smile and sleepy eyes.
Aoki kept looking at Ida and was slightly surprised when he saw him starting to move one of his hands slowly and weakly, heavy with sleep. The hand reached out and soon Aoki felt Ida’s warm hand on his cheek that went up to a little into his hair, his thumb started stroking his cheekbone with a softness Aoki swore only his boyfriend could give.
He felt loved.
Aoki chuckled and brought his hand down from Ida’s hair to lightly squeeze his hand, mindful of covering a little of his palm so it wouldn’t be too cold to the touch.
“Welcome back, Souta.” Ida finally whispered back, voice heavy and a little raspy. It made Aoki grin even harder. “How was your day?” Right. Aoki almost forgot he had ever lived before this moment.
“Ugh,” He groaned at a mindful volume. “Terrible and confusing. You’re gonna have to help me later because economics is kicking my ass.” Aoki joked with a somber tone, dropping his head and shaking it in defeat. Immediately he regretted joking around with Ida still half asleep. Ida didn’t laugh, instead frowning and getting ready to get up. Aoki had to stop him. “That can wait for tomorrow, though! I think I’ll fall asleep if you try to teach me anything right now.” He pushed Ida’s chest back down until he was lying down again. “How about you wait here while I get changed and then we get some sleep?”
Ida seemed to think about it for a second, then he put his other hand on Aoki’s other cheek and lightly guided him down, action that Aoki followed almost mindlessly. Ida brought their lips together, soft and tender and moving slowly, savoring the moment. Ida’s thumbs drew small circles on Aoki´s cheeks and Aoki brought one of his hands to the space between them to have more support. Eventually they separated, Ida a bit more awake and Aoki slightly sleepier. Ida brought him a little closer again and Aoki had already closed his eyes when he felt Ida’s lips on his forehead, leaving a small, chaste kiss there. He felt the hands leaving his cheeks and moving to his neck, then a peck on his cheek, then the other. On his nose, on his eyelids, between his eyebrows and then more on different parts of his face but missing his lips. He started laughing, the kisses had become so light they had started to tickle.
“Kousuke…” He huffed while smiling, then he giggled some more. “Stop…” He tried shoving Ida’s face away, but Ida stayed firm. “Come on, I wanna go to bed.” He protested, trying to sound more serious but failing to do so. With this, Ida left one final kiss on his lips. Aoki stood up and quickly started getting changed, ridding himself of both his jacket and shirt easily.
“Hurry up.” Ida said as he watched Aoki unbuckle his belt. Aoki scoffed.
“Well, mister impatient, maybe if you hadn’t messed with me we’d already be in bed!” He said while failing to free himself from his belt. “If you’re in such a rush come help me then.”
Aoki still battled against his belt, he had put it wrong in the morning and it didn’t seem like it had any intention of letting him go. He struggled with concentration until a pair of hands came to his sight. Ida snatched the belt from Aoki and unbuckled it using a little more force than Aoki had used. Ida let Aoki’s pants fall, and when they met eyes Ida had this intense look that Aoki had grown to understand as an ‘I love you’. It flustered him every time, and so he did what he knew how to do best. He pushed Ida away, letting him fall on the bed and then took off running to cover his reddening cheeks. Except that his pants were still pooled around his ankles, so when he tried to escape he tripped immediately and fell knees first on the floor.
God.
Will he ever stop looking like a fool in front of Ida?
A beat passed, and Ida had sprung back up at light speed when Aoki fell but then saw that he had had no reaction to the fall. Ida looked at him for another second and suddenly bursted out laughing. Aoki felt the blush go up to his ears.
“Yeah! Laugh all you want!” He shouted, giving up on getting back up and instead sitting down on the cold floor. “You’re so mean!”
“No, sorry…” Ida tried muffling his laughter.
“I’m moving out!” Aoki declared in all his dramatic glory.
“No, no. No, you’re not.” Aoki looked up and saw Ida offering him his hands to lift him up. “I’m not letting you go.”
And well.
Aoki has always been easy to win over.
He grabbed the hands with an indignant look on his face, pouting and with red cheeks.
“Well… if you insist. Maybe I won’t go.” He mumbled, looking off to the side.
“Good.” Ida grinned and suddenly Aoki was being kissed again, and all the embarrassment of the moment was gone.
Aoki wouldn’t leave Ida, ever. He could never deprive himself of him.
