Work Text:

Levi laid in bed, staring at the white ceiling. The ship rocked softly and he could faintly hear the waves brushing against it. They had to stop Eren and for that to happen, they needed to find him first. He sat up with great difficulty, feeling pain shoot up his spine like electricity which stuck his breath in his throat, leaving his dry heaving like a dog for a few moments before the pain subsided. He slumped back against the pillows. Damnit, he was supposed to be helping, not sitting here like a hurt animal. Yet the pain was too much, even for him.

He closed his eyes for the millionth time, attempting to get some sleep. Levi's injuries had other plans though, making his mind foggy. There was no spot on his body which wasn't hurting. Just as it couldn't get worse, the door creaked open. *Perfect, one of the brats again* he thought. In the last two hours, Armin had come threw times, stuttering about ship control, Jean was constantly grumbling about everything and he could hear Mikasa having a screaming contest with Connie for the past hour.

The person who peaked in the room this time was welcome, even though he didn't want to admit it. The bundle of energy walked in, stopping mid sentence as they saw Levi's condition. "Hey Levi, what are you-".

Hange scanned him over the disappeared without a word.

Levi groaned, closing his eyes. Of course she wouldn't want to deal with him. He was mistaken. Thirty minutes later Hange was barging back in the room, holding a tray with a cup of steaming tea and some food he swore was radioactive. They sat next to him, practically beaming.

"I brought you some tea, you tea addicted gremlin." They laughed, poking his cheek with one hand and shoving the tea into his hand with the other.

Levi grumbled but accepted the tea, neck burning red from embarrassment. God, he was supposed to be strong damnit. Yet he swallowed down his pride along with the tea. It was just the right temperature, soothing his sore throat and warming up his stomach.

"This is suspiciously go-" His words got muffled as Hange shoved a muffin in his mouth. It had a radioactive red color but he chewed and swallowed it, his stomach accepting the food gratefully as he made a mental note to blame Hange if he was throwing up like a dog later.

As if the embarrassment wasn't enough, Hange wrapped him tightly in a blanket, burrito style, then placed him at their lap, careful to not flare up his pain.

Levi pouted, yet exhaustion weighted heavily on his eyelids, pulling them shut. He was fast asleep against Hange's chest while they pressed gentle kisses all over his head and cheeks; he was too embarrassed to care.

Tomorrow presented the scary unknown since they would finally catch up to Eren according to Armin's calculations. The chaos of the next day could wait as he slept against his only friend's, or maybe more, chest. That night he got the first eight hours of sleep since he was a child and his mother tucked him in with lullabies.
