On a quest for his father, Prince Arthur is attacked by a witch and her servant familiar, Merlin. Upon the witches death, the magic binding master and servant ties itself to Merlin and Arthur.
OR… Merlin accidentally becomes magically bonded to Arthur. (And yes, Arthur has magic).
