Furina Joins an Adventure Team?

Summary:

Furina was tired and terrified, ever since she had left her role as archon her people have been nothing but rude and judgemental of her, they have vandalized her home and some even sent her threats.

Not wanting to endure this treatment anymore she ran and went to a far away nation, one that she knew she would be welcome.

 

Bennett was still experiencing his bad luck, people refusing to adventure with him and experiencing horrible near death experiences but when a new person comes into Mondstat things take a turn for the better....or worst?

My first fanfic so bare with me while I figure out this whole layout

Anyway I had this idea for a while and decided to just write it out for fun and because Bennett needs more recognition

Chapter 1: New comer

Furina had enough, this was the tenth time someone had egged her house, she had tried to report the vandalism to the guards but she was just brushed off, she tried to ask them to stop but it only made things worse, she knew this violated the laws, I mean she made the laws so of course she knew them, and yet no one was getting justice for such behavior, it has gotten so bad that she couldn't even go outside to get groceries! Furina only had two options left, stay and endure this until it dies down..... Or leave Fontaine forever.

Furina thought this hard and long at first she didn't want to leave her friends or her people behind, after all she had sacrificed basically her whole life on them, and well she didn't want to leave a few people behind such as Neuvillette or Clorinde and she'll definitely miss Escoffier's cooking but then she remembered that maybe after what happened they may not want to see her again, after she was revealed as a fraud, a fake, a human, they may not want to even see her face! Maybe Neuvillette would banish her himself from Fontaine for deciving the people, and Clorinde perhaps would raise her sword against her, she wouldn't hesitate to attack her, and Escoffier she didn't even wanna imagine what she would do, maybe she'll ban her from ever eating in her restaurants or maybe she'll burn her food each time she went out to eat.

after overthinking for a while she made her decision, furina de Fontaine would leave Fontaine, she didn't know what to pack, after all she didn't want to be recognized and be harassed again in another nation, in the end she ended up packing some essentials, a few pairs a the most normal looking clothes she owned and a bag of the remaining mora she had, it wasn't much but it would get her to where she needed, she also packed a few pieces of jewelry she owned in case her mora wasn't enough.

Once night fell furina left her house in normal clothes, her hair was hidden in a hat in case anyone recognized her, the streets were empty and quiet, there was no one to yell or see her, she quickly walked down the streets and went to Lumidouce Harbor, the boat would leave her in Yilang Warf and then she would make the walk to Mondstat by herself, I mean how far could Mondstat really be from the harbor?

 

Furina immediately found out how long the journey was from Yilang Warf to Mondstat, a two day trip on foot to reach the nation, it would take her one day to reach Liyue Harbor, and the rest to reach Mondstat, by the time she reached Yilong Warf it was in the early morning, despite being sacred of the dark she was more scared that someone from Fontaine had noticed her coming and well she couldn't stay in one place for that long

After finding some food she continued her adventure to Liyue harbor, terrified that some monster would come and attack her she had her companions keep her guarded, the trip was hectic, she had to climb a few mountains and also run away from hilichurls who had spotted her, there were also a few things that fascinated her as well, such as the fact that Liyue seemed to have huge mountains and long rivers, and also the fact that there was more treasures hunters roaming around, furina made sure to stay away from their sights.

After walking for a while the sun was beginning to set, and during her walk she had met a mysterious light blue haired women, she wore semi revealing clothes but the weather here was hot so she didn't think about it that much, anyway she had been informed that Liyue Harbor was actually more farther away from Mondstat and that the best place to go was Wangshu Inn, and assuming by the name she probably could rest there for the night, furina was extremely thankful to the tall women who she later learned her name was shenhe, well furina wouldn't forget her.

By the time she had reached the Inn it was night, she was exhausted, sweaty, and hungry, and to her surprise the Inn was also some sort of restaurant, she was delighted, she got a room and then immediately went to buy herself some food, during her time as archon she had tried many dishes from different nations due to her also getting meetings from foreign people, despite the abundance of different spices she felt in her mouth the food was really good.

After eating to her hearts contents she went back to her room to freshen up a bit before going to bed, the day had come to an end and she was ready to fall asleep, she was in her night gown and in bed, the weather was perfect, the soft wind blew into her room and the stars shines brightly, in Fontaine she barely had time to see the stars, there was always something in her way, and if she had time there was always a cloud beginning to form which was an indicator that it would rain soon, so for her to enjoy the stars like was a privilege she intended to take advantage of

After it's not always that you fall asleep looking at the sky instead at a ceiling and in a room where everything felt like a cage you couldn't escape, a stage where acting was the way to survive, an audience who didn't need to be pleased with a false face, for the first time in a while furina felt calm, relaxed and pleased that she was human, after all that's what made her perfect.

Chapter 2: Furina in the nation of freedom

Summary:

Furina finally gets to mondstat and meets some interesting people on her first day there.

Once the first rays of sunlight hit furina's face she slowly opened her eyes, the sun felt warm on her face, and the cold breeze that flew by made the morning even more better, in Fontaine the first she would see when she woke up was the Opera Epiclese, the stage where her archon hood started and where everything came to an end.

Once furina was all set and ready she had a quick breakfast and then set out, since she wasn't all the way in Liyue Harbor arriving at Mondstadt would only take half a day, which gives her enough time to figure out housing and that stuff, she certainly didn't want to be homeless on her first day in a new nation The path to the Stone Gate was a pretty leveled path, and it made enjoying the view quite simple, Liyue was a pretty nation as well, maybe one day she'll come back and explore the place, the lakes were very clear and there seemed to be some very pretty sea shells on the sand, furina had never seen shells like that, must be a Liyue special material, of course she couldn't help herself and took a few.

Once she made it to the border she felt extremely nervous, there weren't any guards guarding it and it somehow made her even more nervous, was there someone hidden that would suddenly pop out and immediately arrest her? And if she does get arrested would they take her back to Fontaine or liyue? Or maybe she'll be kept in Mondstadts jails? She needed to think for a bit, she need to sit down and think this thoroughly again, after all if she chose to enter the nation then there's no turning back, that'll be her life forever, if she ever dated to return to Fontaine then she'll be immediately detained, after all she never went through with her divine punishment, which logically ment her trail was still being processed.

Furina took a few minutes to ponder her decisions, she sat on a nearby rock and just had a moment to herself, right now she looked nothing like her old self, the sophisticated lady who had people worshiping her, the lady who could simply snap her fingers and she'll have everything given to her, right now she was just a girl, a girl who was dressed like a common folk, who seemed more saddened but now had a genuine smile, a girl who now yearned for a normal human life, not like she knew how to live one but she owed it to focalor to be human.

After 10 minutes she finally gained the courage to step the border, she took a deep breath and stepped in, she walked until she saw the city and the forest, it looked much less advanced then Fontaine and yet she could see how bright it seemed and how everything around it seemed to be smiling.

And then she felt it, a cold breeze, it wasn't a normal breeze, like the one you would feel anywhere, this was pure anemo energy, one that only an archon could command, ah expected something hostile, a warning or a threat to surround her, but instead she heard the laughter of children, bells jingling happily, songs of romance and the scent of sweet apples, and then a voice, someone very cheerful.

"welcome child of hydro, symbol of justice, to Mondstadt"

The voice soothed her worries, he wasn't mad at her for trespassing, and well mad at the fact that she had be silent for the past 500 years, but the words were what made her uncomfortable, she was no longer the symbol of justice, if anything she was the opposite of it, but right now she couldn't ponder her status, she'll find him and sort things out like adults and maybe even catch up on things.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Furina wasn't the brightest book in well the whole library, of course she forgot to get a map of Mondstadt but she soon found her way towards the city, what was troubling her was the fact that the path that lead to said city was through someone's field, originally she tried to find a way around as to not risk herself and well she found one and went that way, what she didn't notice was that a red head was watching her from his grape garden with a puzzled look on his face.

Furina continued her journey, she finally made it to a small town and well from there she could see the city, which looked pretty calm from afar, either way she continued hee journey, and in just a few minutes she finally made it to the gates, the wall surrounding the city were huge, and there was even two guards in front the main gates! 

She was fascinated with the architecture of the place that she was surprised that one of the guards stopped her from entering 

"Greetings miss, please state who you are and your purpose here in Mondstadt"

Furina was a bit startled at the sudden questions but she thought it was reasonable since well she was new here

"My name is furina.... I'm well.... My purpose here is to probably start living here in Mondstadt"

The guard just nodded and pulled out a small book from his pocket he wrote down something before ripping the page out and giving it to her

"Very well, since you're planning for a long term stay then you'll have to register for citizenship, after that you'll be able to start applying for housing and jobs, if you need a place to stay then go to the church of favonius."

Furina just nodded and took the piece of paper from the guard, she entered the city and immediately noticed that the place was very small, everything was right next to each other, furina found this quite nice since she won't get lost while looking for places 

Afar she noticed the big church behind the huge statue of their archon, really he looked more like a women then a man

Furina, following the directions that the gate guard gave her she found the knights of favonius headquarters, it was right next to the church which was also very handy she guessed.

Once she entered the building she noticed how empty it was besides the two knights guarding two doors, though she could faintly hear the sounds of someone go boom boom in the one of the guarded rooms.

Despite being nervous she went up to nearest knight to ask for directions 

"Excuse me, where is the applications for citizenship?"

The knight stared at her for a few seconds before speaking in a low professional voice

"Applications for citizenships are on the second floor on the right side first door, you'll be met with one of our captains"

Furina just nodded and made her way upstairs and towards the office, she was ready nervous after all what if they find out about her past, and the crimes she committed, every other nation would be notified even Fontaine.

As she stood in front of the office with a trembling hand she hadn't noticed a blue hair guy standing behind her with an amused look

"Oh my, I surely wasn't expecting such a refined lady such as you to appear today"

Furina first at those words, this random person couldn't have figured out who she was right away could they? But if they did what could she do? She was currently in defenseless, the only thing she could do was just pretend that every was okay

"Good evening.... I was here to apply for a citizenship"

In the best voice she could muster that did scream 'i did a crime and I'm scared people will find out' she introduced her reasons 

"Well that's something we don't see every day, well then come on right in, I'll take care of your paperwork for today"

Said the pirate look man, furina was starting to wonder if he really was a pirate or just had an injured eye.

"Take a seat miss, the names kaeya, and I'll be helping you with your application"

Hearing his name and his cheerful tone she couldn't help but feel more relaxed, but she didn't let her guard down if course.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kaeya knew something was off of her the second he saw her, after all she looked Fontainion and their style of life was better there then in Mondstat, second she was extremely tense around everything, like every thing was ready to attack her at any moment, third she was certainly hidi something about her past, so far he had asked the basic questions for the citizenship.

Every was going smoothly, well too smoothly, this women hid enough her person to be labeled as mysterious and yet she was also exposing herself to be seen as a normal person.

As the questions went on the more suspicious kaeya got, in the surface she seemed like the perfect citizen, and that was the problem she was too perfect, people always had flaws, and yet she hasn't shown any so far.

Kaeya suspensions grew..... This woman had a dark past behind her, and he was nosy enough to find out what it was that she so desperately wanted to hide.

Chapter 3: Notice

Hello guys, it's been like a month or two and I just wanted to come and say that I didn't drop this, I went camping for a while and I was phone free for that week, then a few fucking days later my phone actually shattered and it took me a while to get a new one.

then two days later school started so I have been busy with my school work, and since I'm in orchestra I had to also stay after school to practice, (yes despite my username I am a orchestra kid, we're our own haters)

Also I have started church classes as well so I'll be extra busy on weekends so I'll try to post on Fridays or Saturdays every two weeks😁😁

I might post a chapter later on today or tomorrow depending on how hard my homework is, may stay up late to finish but whatever I had half of chapter 3 in my drafts for a while, it's yearning to come out of the shadows

Anyway that all, chapter 3 might be longer then the last two if I have enough energy since I have to still play the part of Cinderella, the only reason I'm writing this I because I just finished making dinner for my parents, dw I'm fine just tired with school and shitty violins 🥀🥀

 

(I swear they all have a private teacher and yet still suck bruh)

Chapter 4: Getting settled

Summary:

Furina finally gets settled but she needs to find a way to find money.

Notes:

Thanks to everyone who has read this, I was very excited to see that people enjoy reading this and it has given me motivation to continue.

also I hc that furina has some resentment towards the traveler because well they're the reason she almost lost everything and also because they tricked her into taking trail, so yea

It's been a few hours and after enduring the many questions from the caption she finally got her citizenship meaning she could get a house and even a job here, furina was very excited but also tired, by the time she got out of the building the sun was setting, and she was to tired to even eat something, so she just made she way to the church.

Upon entering she was great with the wide and beautiful inside of the church, there were benches on both sides and in the very end there was a stand that looked like it was made for a queen, she then was greeted by a nun who kindly greeted her and then lead her one of their available rooms for the night, furina was extremely grateful.

Once she was settled in she got into her sleep wear and went to lay down, she look at the ceiling which had a picture on it if the anemo archon

"did he really wear that to war? It looks so revealing"

Furina then felt a big gush of wind enter her room, she was surprised that he had heard her, I guess it is true that the wind carries voices to their archon 

As she was starting to fall asleep she started at the moon again, it was brighter then last time and the stars seemed to agree as they danced around it, like they have rehearsed it many times before, the wind went back to its gentle breeze, the same sweet scent entering her room, every was gentle and furina couldn't be anymore happier.

 

 

"tell me ######, would it be possible for us to grow legs like those humans? For us to live like them?

Furina looked in front of her at the tall women, these weren her memories, and her voice sounded extremely strange, as if she was drowning in water, the women in front of her had her back towards her, her ocean blue hair being covered by a white cloth.

"My little oeacnid, if a human life is what you wish for then as your mother I shall grant you that wish, you'll live within humans without worrying about returning to the waters"

That women's voice was extremely soothing and sweet, was that the voice of a mother? Furina couldn't help but wonder who she was, why is she getting these memories? And who this beautiful woman in front of her.

Before she could see her face as she turned around everything went blank, the last thing she heard was her voice 

"... My little oceanid, remember that no matter where you are, the waters are always your home, and in the end you will be bound to return to my side"

 

 

 

 

Furina woke up to the sun in her face, these dream or memories happened occasionally, they started after the whole incident and she never knew why she was seeing them, what she did know was that these memories were Focalor's, though her divinity had never brought up this women, and well she'll have to ask barbatos once she found him

She sat up and looked out her window, she heard chatter and the gentle breeze of the wind, it smelled like wine this time, though it still had that sweet scent in it so she didn't mind.

Furina got ready quickly, she wore a simple dress on, it didn't have vibrant colors in it since she didn't want to stand out as much, she then left the church and got breakfast at a small restaurant nearby.

 

 

Her plans were simple, find a source of income and get a house, the only problem is that her talents wouldn't be enough, she knew how to act, sing and be a judge, but that didn't mean anything here, there were a lot of bards, and her experience as a judge wasn't the best, I mean she did leave all of that work to Neuvillette, and acting was out of the question, she had done enough acting for many life times.

She didn't want to fake her life again, she wanted to make a honest living, to be more independent, but she didn't have any talents that would help her besides her vision, but the last time she used it she almost drown herself, despite that she wanted to get stronger, and to do that she needed to go on adventures to find her strength.

After much thinking she decided to apply for the adventures guild, if she remembers correctly she heard that there are small simple commissions that she can do, and she will be earning mora as well so it was easy enough for her.

Furina walked up to the stand that the very similar receptionist was, she was always curious on how Katheryne was always at these guild stands.

"ad Astra abyssosque, welcome to the adventures guild, what can I help you with?"

"Greetings... I came to apply to be an adventurer"

Furina didn't if she had to do some sort of physical test to join but she'll try her best if she did have to

"Alright, here's the papers that you need to sign, return them once you're done filling it out"

Furina took the papers and thanked her before finding a nice place to fill out the paperwork, somehow this was nerve wrecking, "what if they don't accept me? What will I do if I fail to get in?" 

Her thoughts were all over the place and she barely could focus on the paper in front of her, she could only think of having to go back to Fontaine if things didn't work out here, having to face the humiliation of returning after running away, facing familiar faces on the street who will only make fun of her, she really couldn't take that anymore.

Bennett was extremely happy today, the sun was out and he managed to only trip 10 times today! And really lucky thing to happen to him, and now he was on his way to Mondstat to check on his dad's before going out again to adventure.

And just before he could even step foot through the gate a piece of wood flew at him, luckily he managed to dodge just in time.

He walked through the streets of Mondstat, while people continued to do their own things while avoiding him, this really made him feel like an outcast, of course he had Fischl and Razor but even they had people approach them, which he was jealous of.

While Bennett continued to walk and think about his bad luck he noticed a speck of white in the corner of his eyes, as far as he knew he was the only one with white hair, Razor didn't count since he always had dirt in his hair and Noelle had more of a silver then white tone.

And coming from that direction he could also hear small sniffles, so as a very caring person he is he decided to check that out, after all he was curious on who this person with white hair was, maybe he could comfort them.

To his surprise it was a girl who looked around his age, she hadn't noticed him yet, Bennett was worried about her, she looked like a foreigner and currently it looked like she was having a mental breakdown.

"... Excuse me? Are you all right miss?"

 

Furina was shocked that there was someone here, she thought she was far away from people, but now this was embarrassing, the first Mondstadt citizen she meets and this is their first interaction.

"Ah sorry... I'm fine no need to worry"

This was awkward, furina just lied despite it being obvious she wasn't okay, but she couldn't burden this young boy with her troubles, it would be disrespectful and very uneducated of her.

"Are you sure? If you need help with something maybe I can help you!"

This boy was like a ray of sunshine, he had a very bright smile as well as beautiful emerald eyes, it made her wonder how could someone be so optimistic, he was lucky to not have to see the world in such a bad light.

Bennett didn't know what he was doing, from what's he's seeing she holding a crumpled paper that looks like some sort of application, and also the fact that she looks like she belongs from some royal family was also very intriguing

"What is that, that you're holding?"

Furina looked down at the application that was all crumpled, it made her face turn red from embarrassment.

"... It's an adventure guild application..."

"Woah, so your planning on becoming an adventure!"

Well that was not what furina had in mind at the moment, but just looking at this kids face light up certainly made her feel better.

"Yeah, I want to explore Mondstadt and also get stronger."

Bennett was ecstatic, he rarely interacted with adventurer due to his bad luck keeping them away, but maybe he could convince this girl to join his adventure team and prove that he wasn't as unlucky as people say he is.

"That's awesome, if you're going to be an adventure then maybe you could join my adventure team!"

The boy had stars in his eyes and his smile was so bright it was on par with sigewinne's smile, it really made it hard for furina to reject this boy.

"Sure... How do I join?"

It was official, furina had joined Benny's adventure team, though she hadn't expected for Katheryne to make her sign multiple papers related and reassure her if she was sure about this decision.

But despite everything she was now officially an adventure and the second member of Benny's

adventure team, turns out the traveler is the first member and well seeing their name made her feel a bit more tensed.

Bennett in the other hand was smiling like he had found mora, this girl was his second member and also his new friend, and soon he found out her name which sounded very fancy, it also made him more certain she was royalty.

It was still early morning so that gave Bennett some more then enough time to tell her everything about adventuring and how to wield a sword.

At first furina tried to to the rapid swings that Bennett was doing but due to her lack of arm strength she went with a more slow and exotic attack, since bennet had encouraged her to find her own rhythm and attack style.

As of right now furina didn't know what to do with her vision, so for now she'll just incorporated hydro into her normal attacks, it was the I only thing she could do without making a pool of water around her.

But despite not being able to use her vision she was at least making some progress, she'll use her vision to it's fullest potential.

She looked at the blue gem and it's special casing, at first glance it looked like a normal vision, the in the smaller detail there were tiny flowers engraved into them, many if furina didn't recognized but nonetheless she was grateful that focal or had given her one last thing before parting.

Hey everyone, I'm alive and well, like I said in the last chapter I have been extremely busy and probably even more now that I have church classes tomorrow, so I'm posting this before I fall asleep because I have to keep my promises, nother thing I wanted to say is that furina's story quest never happened, she actually got her vision from focalor it's before she died, also for Egeria's description I'm going for the dark blue haired one but I may do something in the future to include every single one of her designs 😊😊
