The ad

The Craigslist ad said 50 bucks as payment and a free dinner to pretend to be my boyfriend for a day (may need to do this again so have that in mind ) in front of my parents, probably gonna have to stay the night

Dev was broke and bored, he's a college student so 50 bucks will help a bit especially since his roommate left him without a word and he needs to make rent so this seems a grand choice for him to take.

Dev: Hey, I'm Dev, and I saw ur ad. When is it and how will this go
Kier : Sup it's on Friday and I'll pick up at 17:00 u just need to show up and impress my parents compliment the food and stuff and then we're good
Dev : Cool will it be fine that I got dyed hair

Kier : lol ur roots are showing it should be fine tho I got bright red hair so
Dev : Don't blame me I don’t have all day to dye my hair so I've been procrastinating
Kier : All day it takes like ten minutes
Dev : It does what do u meeaaaaann
It's a full day's job and then everything is stained blue so u got to clean that up
Kier : I don't know how to say to u but it really doesn't
Dev: Then you can dye my hair next I'll pay u to just to prove a point
Kier: Fine I'll do it probs after the dinner tho
Dev: It's a deal then

Look, Kier knows what you’re thinking, isn’t this immoral? Sure! But he’s getting kinda desperate here.
You see, his parents are what you would call “the desperate for grandchildren type” always asking him about his relationship status, for example “When are you getting a girlfriend?” or “Are you still single?” Ah yes, he can feel the love towards him, their actual child.
Kier thought that coming out of the closet would be enough of a bombshell for them to lay off but now it’s just been changed to gay friendly like
“Why don’t you have a boyfriend?” or “Are you still single?”
So you see, spending 50 dollars to get them off his (frankly great) ass was no hard decision, and an added bonus is getting to have a cute guy as his fake boyfriend. Called Dev… who names their child Dev, Kier might not have the best name but at least he was named lovingly.
Hopefully, for Dev it’s just short for something like David, it's similar enough. Or maybe his parents really want him to be a developer.

Kier : hey I just released i havent introduced myself properly im Kier a programing manager first year
Dev : for starters ur a dude not judging but i thought
ur a girl and im sadly a business also first year
Dev : But i luck out that I can live outside the campus :)
Kier : That's so cool. I hate my dorm and I live with this asshole Boosfer.
Also nothing changes even though I am a dude?
Dev: No it just makes things easier as I am straight so there is no chance I'll fall for you ;)
