Cracked Realities

Summary:

Gift work for Peppermint Whiskers! And Emo!

The Ao3 equivalent of watching both our kids play in the park.

Four versions of Sir Pentious meet… shenanigans ensue.

Notes:

HEY PEPPER! Hi Emo!

Idk have fun lmao

The hardest part is gonna be differentiating between the four of them.

Also yes this is an excuse because I had the idea of Heavenly Serpent Sir Pentious being able to travel to different worlds unintentionally given he’s moving fast enough.

Recap of the four snakes:

Heavenly Serpent! Pentious: Belongs to Peppermint Whiskers, is the vessel of god and semi-responsible

MindWipe! Pentious: Belongs to Pepper and Emo, has had his memory wiped but is still a claustrophobic crybaby

Null! Pentious: My first Hazbin hotel work and also a gift based on mind wipe! He refused the memory erasure and is instead crippled, and sarcastic. Still claustrophobic though.

Revolt! Pentious: after reading works and series such as Sir Pentious and Lady Visse, I decided instead of just doing an alternate version of mind wipe I wanted to create my own story and personality for Sir Pentious, so this is technically the same guy as Null! Pentious but before even the Hazbin hotel, when he was an absolute warlord.

Chapter 1: Crashing in

Chapter Text

It was supposed to be an easy week. Revisiting the Hotel to check on that side do things, that’s all. He followed all the steps. Well, he tried.

The only part that didn’t go wrong was reaching the required speed to break through realities.

It was supposed to be simple, and at first, it was. Sir Pentious could not describe the force that sent him off course, and Elohim could not have seen it coming.

He smashed through realities veering into what looked like hell, slamming into a figure and taking it with him before breaking through reality once more and retiring to heaven-at least that’s what he gleamed from the second he was there-hitting someone else and breaking a third time before finally hitting the ground. That stopped his momentum, sending the three of them sprawling. It was pure miracle nobody was harmed. Almost.

The last thing either of them expected, was for Sir pentious to still break through and end up… somewhere.

The first thing he noticed, before his surroundings, was the silence. And the emptiness. The inherent lack of warmth he’d grown so accustomed to. He tried humming the so familiar tune, and when nothing happened he started to panic.

Okay. I’m on my own. That’s fine. Probably.

He shook the panic from his hood and observed his surroundings.

First, the red colourings and environment told him he was in hell.

Second, the people he’d hit-Oh dear he’d taken them through with him! Does that have any adverse affects!? He wrung his arm, the was a dull pain in his wings, he must have bruised them.

It must have, considering they looked like… him.

Neither got up from where they lay.

He rushed to the white clothed angel first, who seemed to be physically fine but was currently having a panic attack.

Then, he turned his attention to the demonic looking one, who seemed to have gathered himself but sat on the floor reaching for his cane, which was taken with him.

They both had his face, but the one who had a cane sported legs instead of a tail. What the fuck?

They were in… a workshop. One that reminded him of his own greatly. The smithing table was manned by a fourth snake, clearly a demon. He was eyeing them suspiciously and armed with a raygun.

They were all silent for a moment, save for the silent weeping of the other angelic snake.

It was the legged figure who broke the tension, “Well. That hurt.”

”I’m so sorry! I don’t know what happened I veered off course and-“

”Who are you Three?!” The fourth cut him off, “If you know what’s good for you you’ll leave.” He demanded.

Penn didn’t know what to make of this. Four Sir Pentious, all wildly different. It took a bit of de-escalation and patronizing comments but the fourth of them managed to sit in a circle and get some things straight. Except for the weepy guy. He was delirious.

So all four of them were Sir Pentious, But clearly lived different lives. Apparently the one who put them in this situation was in good with the angels, he’s got wings and everything.

Supposedly by reaching enough of a velocity he can break into another world and that’s how he would normally travel between his heaven and hell.

Theoretically, that could be replicated? Unfortunately, the fellows wings were injured in the accident. Fortunately, there were four of the smartest people across heaven and hell in the same room.

He leaned on his cane and jabbed a finger towards the demonic Sir Pentious, “If you’re anything like me, you’ve got a car. A fast one.”

Understanding him, the snake demon quietly rose and stalked away. Yes, stalked away. The demon was the spitting image of Penn right before first finding the hotel. So, he was probably a loser.

When he returned, it was in a vehicle Penn remembered, designing, building, and eventually losing.

He hobbled over and ran his fingers over the hood, “How I missed you. I call shotgun!”.

He slid into the passenger seat while the angel who got them here helped the crybaby angel over. The crybaby had switched forms trading his tail for legs as well.

He felt panic rise in his throat as he realized he’d have to close the door and seal himself in the metal coffin. He pushed it back and rolled down the window.

it helped a little.

the angel with legs however, was inconsolable. None of them could get him into the back seat with the other angel without much effort, and when they did he curled up into the angels arms, sobbing.

Now they were in yet another uncomfortable silence, a silence Penn knew he needed to break, “We should come up with names. To differentiate ourselves.”

The angel with legs apparently doesn’t know the name “Sir Pentious.” Or have any recollection of visiting the hotel or something, so he must have gotten into heaven from the get go or something. He was similarly claustrophobic to Penn, which rang alarms but he didn’t ask. They ultimately decided to call him Buddy. And by “They” He means himself when trying to console him.

The demon in the drivers seat was easy to name, they called him Sinner because he was the only demon amongst them.

They called the one with busted wings, Wings. Because he used his wings and fucked everything up.

They all just had to ask about the cane and the legs and all of it, so instead of asking he decided they would call him Cane.

Actually, it was Cane who picked all the names. These guys were pretty boring. Buddy was busy having a claustrophobic episode, Wings was freaked out over something else, and Sinner was just like Cane once was: a boring asshole instead of a fun one. Ultimately this mean small talk sucked.

The plan was simple. Drive really fast until they broke through reality and maybe landed in the right place.

Chapter 2: The gps broke.

Summary:

Summaries are cringe read the chapter.

Also tw trauma and freak outs.

Chapter Text

Good news is, the plan worked.

bad news is, nobody knows how.

They successfully broke through reality but couldn’t really control where they went.

Hopefully they’d up somewhere or somewhen that made sense.

So far… luck wasn’t on their side.

The burning hot atmosphere swapped for a humid hot one as they broke into the living plane-not that it was anything like they remembered. Humans pointed and shouted as they sped down a highway breaking 400km per hour and narrowly avoiding other drivers until-

CRASH!

They were back in… hell? This must be one of the other rings meant solely for the hellorn.

By the lecherous signage and demons around them Cane guessed they were in the lust ring.

The road ended at a shop Angel probably would have loved to see with nowhere to turn. He absentmindedly noted he should have taken pictures for his friend as they rapidly approached the building until at the last moment-

CRASH!

They were falling. Not down in particular but they were most definitely not touching any kind of ground. Everything outside the window was blurry grey.

Despite the screaming in him to get out of the box he rolled up the window. Just looking out into that… that limbo instilled something in him that overpowered everything else.

Still, he looked as long as he could bear and managed to spot a figure in a direction perpendicular to the ‘not down’ they were falling. Wings murmured something in recognition. Cane tore his eyes away from the window to look into the back, Wings was unphazed by the world around them, but Buddy was curled against his chest. Shaking. Cane opted to shut his eyes and hope the burning unreality wouldn’t get him.

Sinner couldn’t tell what direction they were falling in, but he knew they just needed to go fast.

He steeped himself and locked his chin to his chest, refusing to look up as he pulled levers and pushed buttons until the thrusters activated. They accelerated, and somehow he could feel they were going deeper. The pressure in his skull got stronger, and stronger until-

CRASH!

He could breathe again. Never was the sound of inter-dimensional travel so comforting.

So, this was heaven? He hummed to himself and let the car slow down a moment to take in his surroundings. This seemed like a better place for his sister. Maybe he could use the Angel snake to get her there.

The first thing Cane did was roll down everyone’s windows. He figured Buddy could use the fresh air too. His nerves buzzed, his eyes taking in that blue light. The damn blue light.

While the other three recovered, Wings tried his best to see if this heaven was the heaven he knew. It looked the same so far. Maybe they could find the others and things would be alright. His hopeful thoughts were dashed away when buddy let out a shriek.

Cane was the first to see what scared him. He froze, shaking for a moment before turning to Sinner, “Step on the gas, we need to get out of here. Now.”

”Wait!” Wings exclaimed, “This is a good chance to-.”

When cane turned to him, he had tears in his eyes, “We have to go. We have to go before they see us. Before they-“

He was pointing to Emily and Sera in the distance, fluttering high in the sky next to a tower Wings didn’t recognize.

“I know those two,” Wings insisted, “We can trust them-“

No!” Cane and Buddy cried out at the same time.

Cane grabbed Wings by the arms, “Listen to me. You cannot trust those two. I trusted them, and look what they did to me. Look what they did to him.” He nodded to buddy, “I don’t- The memories are foggy, but I remember those two and being locked in there.”

”Hey-“ Wings tried to comfort him but Cane wouldn’t have it.

”Just promise me you’ll be careful around those two.”

Simmer on the other hand, needed no convincing and floored it until they

CRASH!

Cane didn’t know where they were this time but he had to get out of that room.

He pushed the door open and fell to the wooden floorboards. His legs flopped uselessly.

Breathe god damn it.

His vision went blurry and god why couldn’t he breathe? He felt the vines tangle his legs and they were about to take him back-

so he grabbed his cane and he beat at them. He swung at the white vines that weren’t really there until he hit his legs one too many times and the others had to restrain him.

“No! Don’t take me back,” He thrashed against the vines fingers holding his arm

It was another five minutes until he stopped hallucinating, and another ten before Buddy calmed down too.

Wordlessly, they crawled back into the car and sped off until they broke into a new reality.

Wings wanted to ask, but the other three weren’t exactly amazing at communicating their emotions. Sinner and Cane were about as standoffish and resistant as Wings was when he was a demon, and Buddy couldn’t describe anything that went on in his mind if he wanted to.

They were back in hell, but this time it was somewhere Wings remembered clearly.

Came on the other hand, was not so familiar, ”WHAT THE UNHOLY FUCK IS THAT?!”Four bloody arms, hooves, and a giant mass of black and red. It was fighting something.

”That’s my sister!” Wings exclaimed, “This… this is from my past! We must have gone back in time as well, but this is definitely my world.”

The two snakes in the front seat muttered quietly about the time variable before realizing the first part of what Wings had said.

”That wretched thing is your sister?!” Sinner turned to the back seat for the first time.

“Yes! And have some respect. She was fighting… oh dear.”

They were driving through as mist, trying to juggle going quickly to get out of there and not getting seen by anyone (who knew what paradoxes they could cause). When a winged demon came into view.

”Who is that?” Sinner asked?

”You’ll hear about him from a friend before you meet him, laughed Cane, “Hit the fucker.”

His back was turned to them, and he only began to realize what was happening when he heard a car speeding behind him. Valentino hit the windshield with a squawk before tumbling over them.

Cane was howling, Sinner gripped the wheel riding the adrenaline high, Wings was happier than he’d like to admit, and buddy was honestly having a good time now.

Eventually they would keep crashing through worlds until they found their separate ways home.

There wasn’t much more adventure of note, other than Cane teasing Wings about meeting his “Boyfriend upstairs” which he ultimately would never get the chance to. This is a good thing, if Elohim got one look at either him or Buddy, Sera would not have a good existence.

Chapter Text

Cane didn’t tell anyone about what happened. The only tell that he gave away was how he hesitated every time he checked he was still wearing his necklace.

the one that hid him from the angels and their vines. Could he trust the seraphim? He could barely remember a distinction between the two but he remembered how he felt.

Terrified, oppressed, trapped.

but also comforted, and protected at times.

He didn’t know if it was because there were two of them or if his health is just getting worse. Being stuck in his human form. Well, the nightmares are getting worse at a steady rate. Which was a sign that he should just keep spending time with his friends- no. His family.

Cherri poked his shoulder breaking his train of thought, “Hey. Are you okay? I said do you have any threes?”

”Go fish.”

Husk laughed, because he had all the Threes.

Frank Laughed, because Husk laughed.

Angel laughed, because he was drunk as all hell.

They kept playing cards.

Sinner resumed his work. But he had a proper goal in mind: getting Alexis to Heaven. There must be a way.

If it weren’t for the adventure he’d went on with his other versions, he probably would have dismissed the news the next day.

”A happy hotel…?” He murmured to himself.

Wings knew the other three could probably get away with hiding their experiences. The other three didn’t have god in their heads.

What happened to you?

He didn’t know how to explain it, so he just felt it, let the soothing feeling in and let Him take a look for himself.

I don’t understand.

”Me neither.” Wings muttered to himself.

They wouldn’t bring this up to the archangels, but both of them would be wary of Sera from here on out.

Buddy.

What goes on in Buddy’s head is outside the realm of what this story can tell, or what this author can know. For that story is another voice’s right to tell.

Notes:

OMG YOU DIDNT IMMEDIATELY STOP READING AFTE TTHE FIRST CHAOTER?!

well this is the end.

I wanted the epilogue to just be “each character moves on, a little different but on the same path.” As though it doesn’t affect their respective stories. Even though this is the most DIDNT happen thing on the planet.

Cane goes back to the hotel, spending time with his friend as his health deteriorates. He’s pre- act 2 but somewhere in act 1 I haven’t written yet. Having rejoined the hotel but still posing as a demon and wearing that necklace that keeps him hidden.

I dropped a bit about Sinner and his motivations for joining the hotel and eventually becoming Cane (after the whole redemption and Solitary confinement deal)

Wings is Peppers character so I didn’t want to say much.

And buddy is on the same boat so much so that I couldn’t hold a candle to him. That’s why I kind of left him out of conversation throughout this. Mind Wipe Pentious is Pepper’s alongside Wings and I decided to just have him keep his thoughts to himself.
