Chapter 1: A Sin of Vulnerability
Chapter Text
The rough fabric of the door scratched at ENA's skin, tightly, as usual. It felt like it was tryin to pull her away, like it knew that she didn't belong. But she had no choice but too. If she felt discomfort, she didn't decide to express it verbally. Or at all. Things like uncertainty weren't on the plate for her. Not for someone who has three letters in their name and still has heard thousands of mispronounciations.
She simply hopped forward and strolled past the casino hallway entrance, smiling tightly at the Receptionist down the hall, who's body flipped her off and the screen's faces shown the usual disgust, which she could see even from afar.
As close to home as she never wanted.
She trotted up the steps to the main hub, and gave a quick glance around when she arrived at the top. Roll call.
Potential social interlocusions. She scanned. Froggy leaned against the wall, groaning and snapping at Dratula. Dratula was shouting random nonsense-and Froggy seemed about ready to snap his neck. Irritation seeped from him even to where she was standing atop the stairwell. It made her skin itch, and wanting to crawl out of it, she barked at them both, just to move, to get it out. To bite.
"HEY SHITFACES, KEEP IT DOWN!! MY GODDAMN TRAIN OF THOUGHT CAN'T RUN YOU OVER IF I CANT EVEN HEAR IT'S HORN!"
Froggy snapped his mouth shut and turns his head to ENA, glaring. He examined her. and she could feel him staring to long for her liking. Not in an innapropriate way- No, ENA just didn't like people getting too close. So she smiled, putting her walls back up before he caught anything. Not like he was looking for it. He only seemed to care that she was there. Negatively or positively didn't matter to ENA.
"I'm terribly sorry my coployees. I wonder what you think of the optic observation this fine day?" Her white clawed hand pointed at the large eye, the one she couldn't look at. It reminded her of fear. She wasn't scared, no, she just didn't ever want to see fear in someones eyes again, especially if she couldn't fix it, like she was meant to.
Froggy rolled his eyes, massaging the bridge of his nose. Ah, ENA! There you are. If i had another moment with this guy I would kill myself before anyone else- Maybe."
After a soft "I am Dratula" and a snapping Froggy, ENA stayed silent for a dreading moment. A silent ENA meant... something. "Something" was never tame with her, she notices other people preparing. She wasn't dumb. But not mad, either. better unpredictable than hated. (Not like she wasn't both- still.)
She chuckles in that "ENA" way, a light sound in the back of her throat, always a bit smug without meaning to. "Not to worry friends, I wont twist your neck here. I just sense a lack of... Genius germs." Ena glanced around. That odd Stalker man (per chance) was to the side, grinning toothily, but silent, fiddling seemingly mindless shapes into his red string. Even Kane, who was cowering beneath shards of their own old piggybank after the meteor incident, was present.
But no sweaty coral-rimmed glasses in sight. She frowned. then frowned deeper. She frowned deeper because she didn't know why the hell she frowned in the first place- they've spoken twice, ever. It's a surprise ENA noticed the absence in the first place.
Froggy frowned, not in confusion, in slight...softness? Oh, yes, concern. that's what they called that. He spoke up. "She called in sick today. brushed it off, but she sounded... Horrible, honestly. breathing heavy, and panicked voice. She practically snapped when I asked if I could check on her. She is a new hire, but even then, Coral Glasses never seemed like the type to snap so easily. I think something is wrong, but I'm not sure what."
ENA didn't know why. But imagining such a... potential buisness partner, so... Ruffled, made ENA's head pound. She growled a muttered curse. "Do either of you hogwashed sickos know where she lives?" She scowled, leaving little room for protest to leak such info at the flex of her white-clawed hand.
Froggy hesistated, frowning. but sighed, giving up. "She lives behind a coral door in a crack in one of those buildings in the uncanny streets. Never could go near that place without getting the creeps. It's...-"
ENA interrupted, face blank. "From another world." ... Odd silence, then a grin. "I know exactly the afformentioned location. Back in a jiffer, friendco!" And skips toward the lonely door without another word.

ENA stood on the otherside, frozen. She didn't complain often, and never did so verbally. But a voice in the back of her head, small, child-like, even, shivered, hugging herself at the still lingering feeling of it's arms around her neck. Been a while since she was here last. Must have a new Ge&#@!*_%Bathroom now.
She shook herself, parts flialing around momentarily before hopping into a quicker pace, and gazing out the window at the beautiful flying creatures. Her eyes then locked on the hub. The seal house was still gone. everone was there like last time. Except, she had seen a significantly lower amount of those shouty coral-pants men. Odd.
She shrugged, and strolled into the now open door. on the other side, she instinctually covered her nose. that weird toilet sparkler thing wasn't gone, and honestly, it kind of did remind her of the smoky locker rooms-
Stop it. Don't think about that. He claws bit into her red arm, and then she kept walking, only shooting varying looks of either aggresion or charm. She almost walked past it, but then she felt it. That... other-worldly feeling. She snapped her head 180, body following after. there it was, that dark coral. Kinda reminded her of the woman, but it wasn't a light color. And it didn't have the same red lines that seemed to dance when she had any extreme emotion. Oddly charming.
ENA blinked. What. Without another thought, she stepped foreward and carefully knocked on the coral. "Yelllooo~? anyone residing?" A few minutes. Silence. she tried again. and again.
Then those itches creeped up her neck, and she barked. "IF YOU DONT LET ME IN IN 5 SECONDS, I'LL CHOP THIS CORAL UP LIKE-" She was interrupted by soft, crinkling sounds. like paper, as the Coral receeded. leaving an open passage.
She froze. then smiled, crouching down to walk in. It was... odd. Small living room, grey walls, and tonnes of ink and paper scattered over the floor. a couch in front of a TV. A small apartment-like kitchen. ENA's heart clenched as familiarity sank in, but she gripped her arm again and called out. "Coral Glasses? Are you there? Anywhere? Alive?"
Ena wandered around, checking cabinets, the sink, under the couch- (All great hiding spots) but to no avail. Until a sob shattered through her ears and she found herself in front of it, knocking. It needed to stop. As quick as possible.
Or else she had failed.
"C-coral! Uh- Are you in a decent condition? Can I please come in? Please? PLEASE?" Her voice cracked, and she panted, clawing at her arm. Failing a task was not an option, not even a thought.
She wiggled the door knob. Locked. Fuck.
ENA felt her heart pound in her chest. She was failing and others were suffering for it- again- she gripped the handle, the itch all over her body, making her want to claw at it. rip it apart until it was raw, unable to feel this horrible knot in her chest.
"OPEN. NOW. GODDAMNIT- OPEN!!!!" She found herself pounding into the door. was her shoulder screaming at her? Yes. Was she way too light for this? Also yes.
But she slammed. Over. and over. Her shoulder burned. some weird liquid poured down her face. No, god, god no not again, you can't lose-
The door gave. ENA stumbled in, clutching the counter. Panting. Sobbing? maybe. But she didnt care about the tan tiles on the floor, an oddly sea-like theme overwhelming her, almost as if she was there. Was smelling the sea salt, sun beating down into her skin and massaging all the tension.
But she wasn't. was has here, staring down at a curl of a woman.
There she sat, kneeled in front of the toilet, knuckles white from holding the rim of it, and breathing so fast ENA was sure that she wasn't actually conserving oxygen, just spiraling. Shaking horribly. So much it physically hurt ENA.
So now, she was here. Standing over a woman she barely knew, having just broke into her bathroom.
Well.
Eventful.
Chapter 2: Something I can't stomach.

Chapter Text
Coral didn't wake up this morning happy. She knew it, felt it. Not a good day. Which was fine. Bad days were common now. Being transported to another world for some job she knew only a bit about was fine. She had got up, got ready, about to exit the door, when she suddenly got a headsplitting headache.
Fuck. Well. She sighed, and got ready to call in sick. she undressed, back into her pajamas, and then almost flopped on the bed after taking medication- (She couldn't even pronounce the name. this place was too weird.) -when it it her.
more specifically her stomach.
Her heart sank, and her whole body tensed. God no. She couldn't. Not like this- She was so close. So close to being out of here. Losing control like this would restart her completely. She-
***
She lurched. And had too. she softly padded to the bathroom, covering her mouth and not even letting the vomit get high enough to be in her mouth at all. She gripped the toilet's rim when she was on the floor. and-
She felt disgusting, breatheless, she couldn't stop, couldn't pause. if she did, it would come back stronger. leaning over the toilet bowl, sobbing, pushing out from her throat.
Her hands death gripped the rim, trying to anchor herself as she felt her body screaming at her. She couldn't breathe, and-
She hacked, choking. it was there. Stuck in her throat. and it felt like she was burning from that point inside her body out.
When it dislodged, she wasnt facing the toilet.
She didnt even know anymore. Somewhere in this whole thing, she managed to call in sick, barely. She was squeezing out stomach acid at this point. A loop. Throw up, get more nauseas, throw up. after what felt like forever, she started to stop. But the panic did not. It was all over her. She wanted to rub her skin raw until she was sure it was all gone. her felt broken. disgusting. she couldnt look, couldnt smell. So she curled up, spitting out into the toilet every so often.
She didn't notice it at first. Until she heard a familiar voice.
"IF YOU DON'T LET ME IN-"
ENA. That odd one. Why was she here? Probably to pick something up for work. She didnt really think about it, letting the front door fall.
She couldn't help it. She drifted into her mind.
8- 10 years old? who knows. after school. Some school lunch food, didn't sit right. but going home early meant missing softball. and her dad did not like that.
She didn't know when it started. her small coral pulsed dangerously as she threw, not really upset that no one was there to help. Not nessecary, right? But then- she heard shuffling.
"Are you fucking throwing like a pussy? I thought I was raising a woman, not some spoiled brat! You said you wanted this sport, and you promised to work hard for it."
She flinched. but then-
BANG.
Her Father was ramming into the door.
"TALK TO ME WHEN IN SPEAKING TO YOU! VOMIT CHINNED BRAT!" Coral sobbed, ahving stopped throwing up, but trembling in a corner. Each slam felt real, and each one more of a pounding than the last. she shuttered, and begged.
***
"Please, please, I'm so sorry, I'll never do it aga-"
SLAM. the doors loudest sound. then silence. Her heart beat faster. No, please god no. Her Coral just got bigger than the other kids'. she didn't-
But then, instead of rough, calloused hands, oddly mismatched ones softly landed on her shoulders.
She looked up to see ENA, staring at her. Ena wasnt using either side. it looked like her mout wasn't there, in fact. her eyes were blinking.
Coral stared back. Silence. Until she shifted, and felt it. on her arms- all around her- oh, oh no, ENA, she was-
But ENA didn't recoil. She didn't press. She looked at Coral. A look unfamiliar to her (and ENA, but she didnt know that.)
Concern. Worry. And suddenly she felt herself in a tight hug. not avoiding some places that had more muck on them than others. Her hands just... landed. like wherever they were, she was just happy to be with Coral.
Coral would have sobbed. but she was a run little dry. so she just buried her face into ENA's shoulder, silent.
"...I'm sorry."
She muttered. ENA was a stranger, and oddly... loud. Why would she bother with her? It made her want to roll her eyes at how sweet it was. GØD.
"...Did I fail you?" ENA's hands tightened. "Are you... Okay?"
Coral pulled back weakly, staring at ENA's eyes. That was the white side. Speaking, like she thought she did something wrong. How could she? ENA was there, for her, not to clean some disaster up, and she thought she failed? How?
"No. No. Thank you, ENA. You succeded. Thank you so much. And..." Coral felt weak. tired. she buried herself back into ENA, wrapping her arms tight around her like she might leave.
"No. I'm not okay."
ENA tensed for a moment. Then relaxed, holding Coral.
This was nice.
_______________________________
ENA didn't know how long they stayed there, but it felt like an eternal reward. Definitely not used to any kind of reward at all, so this was... Odd. A person she hardly knew, trusting her, and trembling in her arms. Did she deserve this trust? She did bust down her bathroom door and bascially enter uninvited.
After a while, the smell of the vomit did get to ENA. she shifted softly, unwrapping her arms a bit
"Hey- uh, I apologize dear friend, but could we in a possibility... relocate?"
Coral blinked at her. ENA stared back, and shuddered as the itch crawled up her neck, clawing at her throat.
"Or. Whatever, stupid." She looked away, feeling like an idiot. But Coral made a soft sound. ENA's head snapped back, oh god, was she crying again, did she make her cry-
But when her eyes landed on Coral, she was smiling weakly "You're right. We stink, don't we? And uh. Prolonged contact is starting to make my skin itch a bit." Coral slowly sank away, like Ena was going to bite her for it. ENA shot up, immediantly helping Coral stand with a quick hand of offering. Coral hesitated, eyeing the hand like it was a knife for a moment, but grabbed it, shakily standing and leaning against ENA. She sighed.
"I'm going to clean up. You-"
ENA snapped "NO! no- i- I can clean this up! you sit tight, okay? Change, take a shower, you know. after, I'll clean this right up cleaning squeakily!" She rambled, immediantly guiding Coral to sit on the now closed toilet.
ENA smiled softly at Corals slightly jumbled look, a bit puzzled- "wha-" ENA was quick to silence her. "No what's! sit tight, friend!"
ENA turned. Finally, something to do with her hands.
_____________________
As she finished cleaning up the bathroom (A little more than nessecary, in Coral's opinion.) and turned back to a slightly dumbfounded Coral Glasses. ENA shrugged, walked out of the bathroom, coming back with clean clothes that were *not* Coral's, plopped them on the counter, and nodded at her.
"Do the cleaning, fellow!" turned, and walked out.
...
...
Okay. That was a lot. Coral sat there for a bit, staring at the clothes like they were rigged to explode. It was a basic white tee and grey sweatpants. some white socks sat beside them. Again, these were not her clothes. Coral quickly pushed back the glee at the implacation that they were ENA's, and got ready for a shower.
Long day, huh.

Chapter Text
ENA sat outside on Coral's bed, quiet as she could be, (sitting completely still made it easier) As not to disturb Coral. Even though she *was* in the shower, after all. She just felt tense after the realization she was in someones home. Scratch that, in a house at all. At night or "after work" (it never really stopped) She would go through the Bed door and wonder aimlessly until it appeared in front of her again.
No rest for the wicked.
She flinched when the water turned off, the loud sound of the water switching back to the bath faucet to shut off echoing through her ears. She listens curiously as she hears the shifting of fabric. Coral is probably getting dressed. She slammed that thought in the safe when Coral emerged, hair a bit wet and clothes dry. Coral startles at the sit of ENA sitting on her bed, then relaxes.
"So, what is the customer review?" ENA babbles charminly. Coral Glasses rolls her eyes, softly settling a respectfu-, no, a comfortable distance away from ENA. Respect is earned.
"Is that your weird-ass way of asking if I'm feeling better? then, yes. a bit." ENA nods, satisfied. She looks at Coral, who is oddly staring at her like she was piecing something together. ENA clenched her fists, pushing the crawling under her skin away and barked.
"HEY, EYE OFF THE DISCOUNTS!" She scowled as she watched Coral flinch slightly, making ENA falter.
"W-what I mean is, What's up with the singular Optical obsertion?" ENA corrects, hands folding in her lap.
Coral sighed, fidgeting with her hands quietly. "I don't know. I'm just... Why are you here? Why are you helping me?" She spat, increasingly frustratedly confused. ENA blinked. Why wouldn't she be?
"...You weren't at work. I got your places location from the frog. I was checking your overall quality. Is that negative?"
Coral stared at her for a moment. "You came to... check on me? I-... Why? You barely know me."
ENA thought. Why did she? Coral was right. They hardly spoke. But, something about ENA intrigued her. The way she fidgeted in her pockets when she was nervous, or the way her eyebrow raised in confusion as her eye twinkled with curiousity. ENA found her face get hot, so she sped up her fans.
"I would never leave a potential buisness partner in the abyss. That's horrible Workmanship!" ENA grinned, adjusting her hat.
Coral chuckled softly, a sound ENA wanted to hear again, so she spun her head around while making a funny face. Coral stared for a moment, then chuckled again. "You are surely interesting, I'll say that."
When they settled, they fell into comfortable silence. ENA glanced at Coral, checking for any more disatifaction. When she found none, she stood up, brushing imaginary dirt off her hands "Well, looks as though my work has ceased. I think I'll be out of your eye now, friend." she turned to leave, and was surprised to hear a "Wait-..."
ENA slowly turned, standing on the other side of the bed where Coral sat. her body was turned to face ENA, and she looked... Panicked? "D-don't you want to uh. Stay for a bit? I have snacks in the kitchen, and you can crash on my couch. I... Don't want you to leave my house just yet." Coral seemed nervous. ENA knew it wasn't a *slumber party*, Coral just wanted her in the house. Which was another job. She grinned.
"Of course, dear! I will sit on the couch until you tell me to leave." Coral's eyes widened, seemingly surprised, and settled. "Oh. Okay, cool." Then ENA walked out of the room. and softly padded over to the couch, sitting like a statue.
Job updated.
______________________
Coral sat in her room, sighing. She didn't know why she asked ENA to stay, but it was a little nice to know that she was there. She was never goin to ask her to stay *in the room*, that felt weird. In a "I-don't-know-you-and-i-dont-feel-too-comfortable-with-someone-watching-me-sleep" way. Coral settled under the covers, groaning. She didn't care what time it was, and honestly didn't give a damn. Her body felt weak, and if she had to deal with more people tomorrow, she needed rest.
She closed her eyes, and just as she felt the pull of sleep, she thought:
I wonder what she dreams about.
____________________
Coral woke up, not to any sound, just because her body was annoying that way. She sat up- slowly because GØD she didn't want to- and picked up her clock, squinting to see the time. 8 am. Work was in an hour. Fuck. She shot out of bed, and threw on lazy clothes. When she walked into the bathroom, she startled at the cleanliness-
Oh. ENA did it. And-
Oh.
ENA was on her couch, probably passed out.
Huh. Anyway, she ot ready, brushing her teeth, hair, and coral, then taking her medication. She shuddered at the taste. Ew. She stretched, her back cracking like bubble wrap. That felt nice. She walk out of her room, and froze, seeing ENA staring at her, sitting on the bed, wide awake.
"Friend! Are you here to ask me to vacate?"
Coral blinked. "What? Why are you wide awake?"
ENA stared back. "I never fell into void? Why would I? Your instructions didn't include that."
Coral's heart sank. ENA didnt sleep? At all? And she's just staring at her, up and fucking at em? What?
"You- ENA! Why the hell?" Coral stared, concerned and worried. ENA frowned.
"Did I fail the task?"
Coral blinked. This idiot. She face-palmed and groaned.
"Okay. New plan. Take a nap while I get ready. You should take care of yourself, too." ENA tilted her head.
"but-"
"No buts!" Coral turned to make breakfast without another word. She grabbed some cereal- bland as hell -And pour it into a black bowl. She didn't know why the hell it was *black* of all colors, but it was the cheapest she could find. She opened the fridge, and glanced around while she grabbed milk.
She took a mental note that she needed to go shopping, as she turned to pour milk into the bowl. When she finished, she turned to put the milk away and glanced at the expiration date. Today. Whatever.
When she walked over to the couch, she stood over it, stopping. ENA was lying there, stiff as a board, and definitely not asleep. Coral sighed, placing the bowl on the coffee table and sitting next to ENA's head. Eyes open, huh?
"ENA, do you know how to sleep?" She didn't think about it before, but maybe not all the entities in this world *do*.
ENA stayed silent for a few moments, then sat up. "...I'll admit, this task is slightly inunderstandable."
Coral scoffs, and stares at ENA. "Well. First, you have to close your eyes to fall asleep."
"Oh." ENA mumbled. Coral thought it was a bit cute how her white side grumbled, embarrassed. Then she shook her head. Cute? No, funny. She meant funny.
Putting her attention back of the aformentioned ENA, she eyed her. "Maybe try to... relax? What calms you down?"
ENA stared at her. Then blinked. And stared some more.
"...Like... What makes you fell calm?"
More staring.
Coral groaned, frustrated. "You're difficult sometimes."
ENA straightened, looking panicked "Did I fail something? I'm so sor-"
"No, dude, you're just being a bit difficult right now. It's okay." She assured her, frowning at her panic. ENA immediantly cheered, and grinned "Oh, good."
...
...
"So, what calms you? Like, Relieves your muscles."
ENA nodded softly, and brought her hand up to her chin in thought. "Well, sometimes, when the itch gets high-" (Coral wasn't even going to ask) "-And doesn't stop, I... Enjoy hearing myself hum. Or sing. But, I..." ENA paused. her cheeks darkened, and Coral thought that was as close as she could get to blushing.
"But what?" Coral asked, not impatiently, just curious.
"I... Don't like others hearing my singing. They find it creepy. And I would never... want to dissatisfy customers." Coral frowned.
"Well. I bet I wouldn't, but if you don't feel comfortable I suppose... I could sing for you." Coral pushed out. ENA literally *held her through a mental breakdown.* She owed her.
ENA startled. "No! Absolutely- no, I wouldn't have you do that for the ovation! I mean- I would love to import such audio files, but that is-"
"ENA, it's fine. I want to. I... owe you. And don't argue, please."
ENA opened her mouth to do just that, but closed it softly.
"Okay, lean back. relax- or try to." Coral instructed. ENA leaned back a bit into the couch, muscles softening ever so slightly.
"Uh... What songs do you like?" Coral asked. She was glad she got to ask this, since she knew next to nothing about the worker.
ENA hesitated. "I... When it is a lot... I sing Daisy Bell. Most find it dusturbing or unsatisfactory, so if you-"
"Ah ah ah! Quit that. Okay. I can sing that. Close your eyes." ENA cautiously agreed, closing her eyes softly.
Coral realized how long it had been since she sang- let alone a lulaby. She felt oddly nervous, but the sight of an oddly soft ENA gave her just enough confidence to softly start.
"Daisy, daisy, give me your answer do."
ENA vivsibly calmed as Coral sang, and it urged her on.
"I'm half crazy, all for the love of you~"
ENA rested her arms against her chest, lay/sitting on the couch.
"It wont be a stylish marraige, I can't afford a carraige"
Coral gasped softly as she felt ENA's head softly rest on her shoulder, breath easing slowly. Coral blushed as she finished.
"But you'll look sweet upon the seat, of a bicycle made for two..."
Corak took a deep breath as she finished. She was hyoer awre of the fact that ENA was leaning on her, and she felt extremely flustered.
Then remembered work. Well. Coral pulled out her phone, careful not to jostle ENA. And typed to Froggy.
Sorry, me and ENA are off for the day. c u tmmrw
Coral set her phone down next to the forgotten cereal and leaned back into the couch, her hand softly warpping around ENA.
Well. Maybe sleeping next to someone wasn't all that bad.

Chapter Text
The shouts. Way too loud. It blasted through her ears.
"[REDACTED] WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? GUNS DON'T MAKE THE WORK STOP, RELATIVE."
Her head snapped back to the bleeding man beside her. her hands hovered over the gash in his side, hands covered in blood. She didn't- Where was the first lieutenant? The chief nurse? She was just a relative- and definitely wasn't hired for bomb wounds.
She applied pressure, Looking up at the mans face as he winced, but smiled.
"Hey, hey it's alright. [REDACTED], You got this."
The only kind words she ever hears are from the man that is about to die. The man that she couldn't help. The man she put in danger. The man who deserved to hate her.
She shook, pressing a large guaze into the wound. She couldn't lose him.
He winced again, and groaned. "[REDACTED], It'll be fine. we'll get out of here, in love and happy. we'll be okay. Our kid is on the way, right?"
She froze. Was she going to tell him? Her heart was trying to rip out of her chest, trying to claw its way out.
"I-... I'm sorry but-... I got rid of it-"
She treats the wound, her hands moving on their own while gunshots fired, and she could almost feel them ripping into her skin, tearing her apart. She sobbed, continuing.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't want it- I-"
A bomb exploded, and she tried to yelp, but couldn't. Not when she felt a hand wrapped around her throat. She choked, and her hands scrambled to remove the arm. She teared up. Her eyes blurry, moved up to him. He looked enraged.
"You WHAT? Did anything between us mean ANYTHING? God, you slut!"
She tried to speak. tried to apologize. Dying men's screams felt as her own. She didn't even feel it. Her hand warpping around a cold metal. Bombs exploding outside the tent felt like her heart, wrapping against her chest. She felt her tears fall down her face like the blood dripping onto the battle field. Her hands slowly pulled the item up. She sobbed.
His eyes widened. and before he could stop her, A gunshot in the distace echoed. and it seemed to leak into the tent, and pierce through his lung.
Bang.
He fell back, hands around her neck going limp.
...
He's dead. Oh god no.
The rifle clattered to the ground. She stared at the limp man.
She almost couldn't find her voice.
When she did, she muttered.
"...Frank?"
________________________________________
ENA shot up, her claw ripping into whatever it was holding, as she cried out.
"NN-NOOO!!!" her voice glitched out, fully White side. The itch *covered* her bosy, and she let go of what she was holding to scarp at it, rip it apart. It must end, it must-
"ENA! ENA, What- are you okay-?"
ENA's head snapped to the stranger, eyes wild. For a moment she saw him in this womens eyes- The dead man whom she failed. She gripped her red arm with her clawed hand harder, not even noticing the staticky liquid pooling around her claws.
"ENA... The womans hand softly reached out, not to touch her, but to ease her. ENA flinched back, growling"
"DON'T TOUCH ME ANONYMOUS! KEEP YOUR DIRTY HANDS-..."
She went silent. Her eyes landed on the coral coming from this womans eye, poking through her glasses. Coral. Coral Glasses.
Her body tensed, and she stared.
Coral, who showed her unnecessary gratitude.
Coral, whos voice was like a beautiful warm blanket.
Coral, who was... her friend.
ENA's whole body relaxed, and she lunged at Coral, warpping her arms around her
"C-coral! Coral, Coral there... you are here. Much gratitude, so much-"
"Hey. Hey, ENA, look at me." Coral's hand gently propped ENA's chin up, staring into her eyes and melting the icy cage she felt trapped in. ENA did not resist.
"Breathe with me, okay? In..."
ENA breathed in.
"Out...."
ENA breathed out.
"In..."
In.
"Out."
Out.
...ENA fell into a rthym. In. Out. She felt herself relax into the other woman, who held her tight. ENA buried her face in Coral's shoudler.
They stayed quiet for a while, Coral rubbing soft circles into ENA's back. ENA almost fell back asleep, When Coral aksed a question.
"Nightmare?"
ENA looked up, puzzled.
"A bad dream, ENA. scary."
ENA thought for a moment. Well, if her reaction was much to go off of, (without thinking about the dream itself) Yeah.
"Yes. Very negative."
Coral nodded. "I should have expected that. You've never slept before after all. Maybe I should've sang for a little longer. Might've relaxed you even in sleep. Would you like to try again?"
ENA hesitated. She really didnt want to make Coral sing for her again. But a "Good dream" Felt enticing.
She nodded reluctantly. Coral smiled softly at her- ENA felt a small itch at that look. They were so... soft. warm. What the hell?
Before she could bark, Coral slowly stood. ENA immediantly yelped, falling into the couch cushions. Coral chuckled.
"First thing's first, We gotta bandage those arms."
ENA sat up, grumbling, and glanced at her left arm. Her claws had left ugly but not too deep of an indent. ENA shook her head.
"Oh! Goosey me. I got that." She went to stand, but let out an "oof" as two surprisingly strong arms pushed her back to sitting on the couch"
"No! Sit. I'll be right back."
ENA stared at Coral for a moment, whos hands sat on her shoulders. Coral seemed to be trying to look threatening. It was... endearing. ENA suppressed a soft chuckle, and Coral straightened, glaring irritatedly at the worker. "What?!"
"You're cute."
It left ENA's mouth before she could stop it. Her hand slapped over her mouth, and she stared at Coral's shocked eyes. ENA's heart clenched.
"I mean- You- You're businessly adequate and I appreciate your help! Now- g-go get those supplies Frienco!"
Before Coral could argue, ENA was covering her ears with a pillow and curled up, turning away. She felt Coral's eyes staring at her. Please leave, please leave, please-
She was surprised to find Coral walking off. ENA glanced at her to see a... flustered expression? She shook her head as the other woman walked into the bathroom.
Must still be in a daze.

Chapter Text
Coral rummaged through her bathroom cabinets, trying to find...something. She didn't really know what. Not when those two words echoed in her mind.
"You're cute."
Coral shook her head, feeling her face heat up more somehow. ENA only meant it in a playful way. A "Businessly Adiquate" way. So why did her heart do acrobatics when she thought about it?
Coral sighed, face palming. She glance at the mirror. Coral looked... Tired. but... Better. Sure, the CMYK blush on her face wasn't too flattering, but... She looked fuller.
God, what was going on? This ENA girl is so... Weird. Is it like a side effect of being around her? No, that wasn't it. Froggy and the others act this way with her. Was coral alergic to her? That didn't make sense.
Coral groaned and grabbed the first aid kit. She really didn't want to go back out there, didn't want to hold ENA's hand while she gently bandaged her arms and felt calm at her rambling. Didn't want to watch ENA's confusion at the slightest kindness, her eyes lighting up cutely when she understood something.
...
Oh hold the phone. Coral's eyes widened. No. No don't even think about that. That isn't a possibility. She did not have a crush on ENA. It was just admiration.
Right.
Coral walked out of her room, as quick as she could as if the truth was tailing her and she was trying to escape.
She quickly plopped next to ENA, who brightened when Coral's eyes landed on hers.
"You took a while, Dear friend. Is something of the matter?"
Coral straightened, willing her face to cool down. Her sweat stubbornly stuck to her more than usual as she brought out the bandages and antiseptic. She carefuly put the antiseptic on a cottonball.
"No. This'll sting."
She slowly held up ENA's red arms, gasping at the damage. It wasn't deep, but it was pouring a lot of static. Also, the claw marks looked angry.
"ENA, were you not applying pressure???"
ENA blinked at Coral as usual. Coral couldn't help but start to be fond of it. She sighed. of course ENA wouldn't know to do that. Coral placed the cottonball down and grabbed gauze.
"It'll pinch a bit, but we have to stop the... bleeding."
She didn't even know if this could work. ENA's body was definitely different than Coral's, she just didn't know how.
Coral shrugged to herself. Better something than nothing.
She gently pressed the gauze into ENA's arm, who's other clawed hand immediantly shoot fowrad to grip Corals. Not painfully though. Coral flinched at first, but looked up at ENA's uncomfortable face. Coral squeeze her hand softly, managing as warm of a smile as possible.
She almost burned up at the way ENA softened. Just admiration. Nothing more.
Coral's gaze snapped back to the wound, unable to look into ENA's eyes much longer without passing out.
When the bleeding stopped, coral carefully remove the gauzed, and got a new cotton ball to apply antiseptic to. The other one fell into the couch somewhere.
She squeezed ENA's hand, not looking at her but trying to be comforting.
"This might sting a bit. Squeeze my hand if it helps."
She felt ENA nod, and she started dabbing at the wounds. ENA's hand immediantly squeezed, not too painfully, but it was clearly pain.
Coral, with heruclean effort, looked up at ENA. She immediantly regretted it, her heart clenching at the pain in her eyes.
"It's okay, I got you."
Coral spoke without thinking, but it seemed to soften ENA a bit. GØDdamnit Coral was going to DIE.
Coral snapped back to the wound again, and quickly finished cleaing it up. She got new gauze and put into on ENA's wound. Then she grabbed bandages, and held ENA's arm up, wrapping them tightly but comfortably around the limb. when she was done, she smiled at herself.
She did a good job, and when she looked up at ENA to see if she was oka-...
...ENA was staring at her. Dazed. Coral immediantly panicked.
"ENA?! Are you okay???!"
ENA snapped out of it. "Oh- I'm... yes. I'm actually pretty good. T-thank you."
Coral studied her for a moment. What the hell was that look? Did ENA feel uncomfortable? She shook off that thought.
"How does it feel? Too tight?"
Coral asked casually. She tried anyway. Her heart was clenching at the warm, soft gaze ENA was giving the bandages, like it was a special gift.
"It's perfect."
Coral's eyes widened at ENA's voice. What the hell? That was so... sincere. So soft, like she didn't want to break something. Coral's sanity, probably.
ENA met her eyes.
"T-thank you. For everything. I don't know why you are helping me, but thank you."
Coral felt whiplash. ENA was speaking so... normally. It must have shown on her face, because ENA scrambled, her white side barking.
"Whatever! It's too itchy anyway."
Coral shook her head. Right back to ENA. Huh. She sighed.
"You sure are something. And you're welcome, ENA. It's the least I could do for you coming to check on me."
ENA and Coral fell into slightly awkward, but comfortable silence. Coral checked the time. 7:37 pm. Coral sighed.
"ENA, you should probably go home. It's late, and you've stayed here for longer than you should. I don't want you to leave, but I can't keepy you here forever."
Coral sighed, standing and stretching. ENA snapped up, standing oddly quickly.
"Oh- yes! my abode I shall reside. See you at jobplace, Coral!"
Coral turned, just in time to see ENA slip out of the house.
Coral stood.
Stared.
ENA called her Coral.
...
She was so fucked.

Chapter Text
ENA stood at the hub, leaning against the wall. she was quiet, Unusually. Kane was dancing on the broken edge of the doc, taunting the oddly synchronized legs. Dratula was in a shouting match of nonsense with Mr. Stalker.
And Froggy... He was staring at her. And then at coral, and at her again. ENA didn't know what Coral has doing. probably standing awkwardly by the horse door. Froggy sighed.
"Okay, was it that bad?" Froggy commented. Coral and ENA stared at him, confused.
ENA was going through things he could mean. Maybe it was his little speech about not giving at least a weeks notice for a day off? Probably.
"Oh. I suppose it was mildly... not great for my buisness personality. Especially the raised decibal rate of your voice-"
"No no, idiot!" Froggy interrupted. Which made ENA shake out a small itch with a scowl. "Not that. I mean..."
"The sex between you two." Froggy said bluntly.
ENA watched coral's face explode into technicolor, and start sputtering. She watched Coral's flustered face with a confused one.
"WHA- I- NO! That's not- Jesus, Froggy!" Coral spat, slightly agitated, it seemed. ENA stood, confused.
"What is this... "Sex" you speak of?" ENA inquired. Was it a new business strategy? if so, why didn't ENA know about it?
Coral and Froggy turned to stare at her, Froggy's eyes wide and Coral a little... relieved?
"Oh. Well nevermind, I guess. What were you two out for then?" Froggy seemed to look surprised and curious. Coral started to explain, seemingly trying to steam past the previous comment. ENA stood, trying to make sense of the situation. What is sex, and why is Coral so flustered?
When Coral finished explaining, albeit choppy, Froggy nodded, but frowned. "So you skipped because of... sleep."
ENA nodded, proud of herself "Yes! It is such an interesting technic, and I have discovered that by singing to myself, I go into a world of wonders! But, with a little to little singing, it isn't... pleasant." ENA remembered how when she entered the bed door, she slept on the ground next to it, singing Daisy Bell. The dream was her peaking sales. It was nice.
Froggy sputtered "Wait, you've never slept before?" He looked at Coral who nodded in comformation. "Yeah. That was my reaction too."
Froggy sighed. "I'll let it go this one time, I suppose." ENA brightened. So she hadn't failed. Yes!
Froggy stretched. "But, you'll have to make it up. Coral, you're going with ENA to find the Boss."
ENA froze. same with Coral. ENA stuttered, remembering the dangers of even clearing the smoke to find the boss. She shook her head "Oh, oh no, Friend, that's-"
"No buts! understand the day before yesterday was rough, but no excuses for the day after for Coral!" He pointed at the sweaty woman, who cowered a bit from his finger.
ENA looked between the two and stepped in front of Froggy, growling. "HEY DIPDICK, LEAVE THE WOMAN TO HER OWN WORK! YOU-"
"If you don't you're both fired."
ENA froze. What? He couldn't do that- he was-
"I can do it. I'm not the Boss, but I am a manager. So chop chop."
ENA stood there, silent. She was still on her white side, but it was frozen in shock and a bit of fear. She shook her head.
Her use was on the line here. Smile, dumbass.
"Of course, sir! Where do the stocks lead us today?" She grinned at him, feeling Coral's gaze on her back.
Itchy. But it couldn't be helped now.
Froggy pointed at the sky, and ENA followed his gaze to-
The eye. She immediantly averted her gaze to right below it. It seemed something was coming out of the pupil. she didnt see it until Kane was running past her, screaming about bathrooms in that high pitched voice of his.
ENA looked at the dock, where the coin-cat came from, and saw one of those hippo...snake... vein... rhombus... things, floating in the water.
"There's you ride. It'll take you two to the Floating Mountain. There, you with find the Cave Door. It'll take a bit to find, so ask around. Coral, keep your eye out for potential organizers of the inauguration of the new Horse Door genie."
Froggy clapped, metaphorically sealing the deal. ENA stared at the beast, hesitant. Coral seemed to share that trepidation.
"Chill, it's idiot-proof. Even Drat over there could ride it." He slowly pushed them forward, muttering hurried good-byes.
Coral panicked. "Wait, what do we do when we-"
"NO TIME!" Froggy urged, and stepped back once they were close. Coral opened her mouth to protest, but gasped when a vein wrapped around her waist, she tried to pry it off, but it wouldn't budge. ENA did the same, glitching out and shouting curses at froggy as they started to be lifted off the ground.
Then, they were plopped on the top of the rhombus, Coral in front, holding reign-like veins that she seems to not remember grabbing. ENA froze, feeling very itchy.
"Wha the fuck-" Then, without warning, the veins wrapped around Coral's hands and whipped themselves, shooting them into the sky.
The wind flew past them as ENA's stomach dropped. She held onto her hat, and Coral yelped. They shot through the air, doing unneccesary flips, (To ENA's stomach at least) and hearing the sound of the snake hissing behind them.
ENA gripped the nearby veins, holding them to her stomach while the other hand held her hat. she curled in on herself, holding back the inevitable vomit. She turned and hurled static over the edge (To the hippos displeasure,) and wiped her mouth. She sighed. At least she wasn't deathly afraid of vomit like the sweaty, nervous, probably air-sick-
Oh shit. ENA looked up just as they landed to see Coral covering her mouth, sobbing and covering her mouth and stomach. ENA didn't even proccess the surrounding area, immediantly standing wobbily and shooting over to Coral.
"Coral-!"
Veins wrapped around her feet, stopping her and making her fall flat on her face, she groaned, and fought the veins.
"Get- off- you-..." ENA caught glance of coral, and the veins were formed... into a bucket in front of her? another smaller one was holding her hair back, and ANOTHER was patting her back as she vomited. ENA froze. the fuck? When Coral was done, the veins receded, and ENA shot forward, gently placing a hand on Coral's shoulder.
"What's the review- are you okay?" ENA stared at Coral, who was silent and huffing. She turned to ENA and hugged her. ENA hugged back.
After a moment, they both hopped off- The veins gently helping Coral and "helping" ENA- (Pushing her off) and Coral chuckled, patting the hippo head while ENA stood, brushing off dirt.
She shot a glare at it, huffing indignantly. She swore it smirked.
Coral turned and looked at ENA, puzzled, while ENA's face changed to a grin.
"Alright, let's get to work!" She looked around. It looked a lot like the uncanny streets, but with no buildings, just an odd platform a few yards from the mayan looking coin they landed on. floating above the platform was a broken cassete tape. Weird. There were a few lakes like the Uncanny Streets here, but less. The main features were random debris scattered around.
Only a few entities wandered around. And some objects.
She turned to see Coral petting the snake a goodbye. A twinge shot through ENA, but she couldn't identify what of.
It flew off and ENA scoffed. "What was that, anyway? Some weird-"
"It was Minidor. That's their name." Coral turned back to ENA, smiling like she just befriended a cat. ENA softened immediantly, and flushed.
Coral looked so kind and soft around animals. She was so gentle and caring. It made ENA want to cry with joy.
"Oh. I- I see." is all she said, seemingly very interested in the lampost to her left and sctratch the back of her head.
...
"Anyway!" she exclaimed a bit too loudly. "Let's uh... say hello to this tank Enemy Summon!" She marched awkwardly over to a tank, circling around near the coin hub.
In its perimeter, several patches of flowers with faces on them grew nearby. Playing around in said flowers were odd yellow dogs, looking about as brain-dead as a goldfish. Coral, obviously, cooed at them, and ENA immediantly melted.
"They're so cute! I wonder who the owner is." Coral smiled at ENA, who looked away immediantly and knocked on the tank-like Entity Summon. She stepped back.
...Silence, and for a few moments, she thought that this wasn;t even an Entity Summon and she was talking to a random tank. but her thoughts were interrupted by a shooting sound, and she leaped behind Coral at the noise, panic surrounding her entire being. Coral's touch grounded her, and she remembered where she was when instead of a body-ripping explosion, a small polygonical lip-like thing landed on the ground. she peaked around Coral and they both jumped when a humanoid exploded out of it, and lay tired, on the ground.
This person had a red and white face, like ENA, but the white side had a square of red on it. the red sides eye was back with a cat-like yellow iris. the other eye was a normal yellow eye, but both were as tired as the other. Those weren't the only cat-like part of them, however. As large black ears came from behind the mask-like face. Small ties held bunched up... fur, hair? That hung below their face. They wore a basic button-up shirt, and were holding an odd cane.
Before either ENA or Coral could speak, they pushed themselves up, groaning in russian.
"Ugh, I took a vacation just for even more ENA's to disturb me? Lucky me, I guess."

Chapter Text
Coral stared at the stranger, who was staring at ENA like she was an annoyance. At least it wasn't hostility.
ENA looked awfully frazzled from the loud entrance, but immediately hops into her persona. Coral stifles a soft giggle at her little hop. GODDAMNIT SHE WAS SO-
"Hello dear! Can I offer you a question?" She inquired, her hands out in front of her and gesturing for this cat to give her something.
Coral never noticed these things before. But now, every time ENA did it she had to restrain herself from shaking her hands out from cuteness aggression.
"Uh, sure. It's not like I had other things to do..." The person muttered, clearly sarcastic. But it made ENA light up, her soft "Aha!" echoing in Coral's mind.
"I wonder, dear friend, could you offer some location points? A dear oh DEAR 'Cave Door' needs finding!" She put her hand on her hip while the other traced the rim of her hat.
"Cave... Door? Huh. Not what I expected, truly. Are you sure you don't want to know about the Runas?" The stranger subconsciously patted a dog while speaking, scratching the back of their head.
Coral chirped in. "The Runas? What... No. We are here to find The Boss. I don't think you understand, whatever ENA you know isn't her." Coral gestured at her ENA- no, the ENA next to her.
"I'm the Shepherd. You don't think I don't know that? But ENA's are the same generally. it's in their code. Unpredictability is simply a glitch." They- The Shepard seemed far more interested in their claw then the conversation, so Coral nudged ENA before she could bark at the stranger.
"...We'll be going." Coral turned without a word, dragging ENA along. She half-heartedly noticed the Shepherd shrugging and laying down, but she was too busy sulking while stomping away. she felt ENA tug on her arm and she stopped, turning and seeing ENA staring at her confused.
"Coral, what's wrong?" ENA said. FUCK that normalcy. Not "What's the review, customer?" or "Would you recommend this to anyone else, business associate?". Just "What's wrong, Coral?"
Coral's head snapped away, flushing violently. She instinctually covered her Coral, like it would start shaping hearts. Maybe! She didn't know.
"Nothing. Let's keep asking around." She muttered, walking ahead awfully urgently to a weird space orb. Two wheels surrounded it, spinning a bit. eyes stared at Coral, piercing into her skull. She suddenly regretted walking over here.
"Oh. this is... Fun. it's an Entity Summon, right?" Coral asked. She didn't know much about them, but she knew some entities had one. It was an object that if interacted with, would summon the creature from a dormant state. they could also leave it on their own, but not often. All she knew was that some entities should choose better ones, because they don't reflect themselves too often.
ENA grinned. "Yes, dear Coral! Let us engage in a conver- Let's get this bullshit over with." ENA shivered after speaking, shaking off an unseen disturbance. Coral didn't have time to look concerned, because the moment ENA reached her hand out, the orb recoiled, and they heard an awfully excited but faint "woooooooooo"
Coral waited, and her first thought was. "Where is that music coming from?"
________________________________________________
ENA jumped when the sound increased rapidly, music turning up volume. It was an electric upbeat noise, and she felt her itch that she just shook off returning at the loud noise.
"OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAHHHHHHH! Hey there Thetas! The name's Phindoll!" A... pink dolphin span out of the dark orb, oddly polygonal????
The music pulsed through her ears uncomfortably.
"What was the doorman excited to see? The- WOOOAaahhWoaahhHAhAaaaaOAHHhhh!" He mishaped himself in several uncomfortable ways until he got so small he disappeared. before they could stare in horror, he reappeared in front of ENA, way too close.
He was about to say something else, but ENA swiped at him, barking curses.
"GODDAMNIT, LEAVE MY PROXIMITY SOME SPACE TO SPARE YOU FUCKWAD!" He recoiled, shooting back and looking disoriented.
"Woah woah there, take a moment to breathe, I didn't mean to make ya seethe! I was just wondering if you were here for an interview, jeez!"
Coral stepped forward. "I'm sorry sir, you simply scared her. She values... space."
ENA felt her heart swell. Coral cared? that was... new. Odd.
"Now, could you... without getting so close, tell us where the Cave Door may be?" her hands went up like she was calming a spooked horse, albeit a very excited and upbeat one. ENA had seen those hands directed at her before. Never from Coral, oddly enough. ENA had definitely seen her take a swipe at her when her head rotated around her, but ever since they've... talked more, Coral never seemed averse to being close to ENA. It shook ENA that she felt the same, completely safe and comfortable.
Phindoll's loud voice cut through her haze of confusing thoughts. "The ohhhh?? Cave door, you say?" His tail curled around to scratch his chin. "Not so sure... but! I do know a little birdy who might!"
ENA stared at him, waiting for him too speak. His eyes widened. "Oh- right, uh, I think they... actually look like you! they don't seem to mind walking through lots of doors! What's your title, little rifle?"
ENA stopped for a moment. "Rifle...?"
...
"oh- Uh- E-ENA is my title, f-friend!"
But she wasn't really focused, staring at a spot far away from this conversation.
Phindolls eyes widen as Coral offered a soft nudge and a "You good?" ENA nodded softly, shaking her head to clear it.
"ENA! I saw one of you a little bit ago! They were a bit more... Sad. maybe they'd know! Last I checked, I heard they were in a house just past the Extinction Party. Nasty place, but quiet if ya know the way!"
ENA was quiet. Another party? her mind flashed to the pink liquid encasing her branch-riddled-glitchy body.
Her hand trailed to the side of Coral's blazer, seemingly with a mind of it's own, set on seeking comfort.
She jumped when a soft hand held the curious one, turning her see a warm and welcoming eye.
ENA's eye glitched. and blinked. She did that a lot around Coral.
"Well, I guess our next stop is finding a way to get around that place without getting in danger, huh ENA?" Coral encouraged.
ENA hesitated and then beamed.
"Well, Let us go, Coral!"
ENA repeated that name in her head as they waved off the odd dolphin, who was fazing back into the space orb.
It made her feel...
Real.
