✿ bucket list

Summary:

In the face of the Spawn and the Church, one can only hope that what they've done will suffice for a respawn.
Two Time has spent their whole life dedicated to the Spawn, but when someone new joins the village--and therefore the Church, Two Time is somewhat appointed to help this newcomer around. A certain botany loving Robloxian has a bucket list that Two Time--albeit somewhat skeptically, decides to help with.

˖°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・

Silent prayers, sacrifices, harm, all rewarded by the Spawn.

In a small village in the corner of Robloxia, Church as the centerpiece, the Spawn was revered.

Two Time doesn't remember a time without the Church and it's members--they don't remember a life before the Spawn. Obsessed with the respawns their whole life, Two Time was even named after the fact! It was a destiny they would happily pursue in the name of the Spawn.

But then--something changed. Or rather, someone new was added to the equation.

"Two Time!" Amarah's irritated voice snapped them out of their thoughts.
Two Time looked back up, closing the Book of Spawn, before replying, "Yes, Amarah?"

"Did you even hear what I just said to you?" exasperation almost radiating off of Amarah's every breath as he peered at the younger cultist.

Two Time tried to recall, "Someone new joined the Church. I believe I am supposed to help them get acquainted with their surroundings?"

Amarah seemed satisfied enough with this answer. She nodded in answer, then turning heel, before saying; "He should be with some of the others, but I expect that you can help. Or at the very least, introduce them to the Church."

What once was a peaceful morning in the Church was interrupted by Two Time's mentor. Not that they were too bothered by the change in pace, though. It had been quite dreary inside, compared to the sun outside.

The Church was mostly empty at the moment, most of its members most likely either dwelling deeper inside or outside with the rest of the village. Two Time stood up from their spot near one of the windows, wiping dust off that wasn't there, they made their way back outside to where this newcomer should be.

It was alright outside. A stiff breeze blew over the village, some clouds ever so often covering the sun's rays. Pine trees littered the area, with a much richer forest lying in the distance. The light from the sun fell upon the village, as if the sun was happy today.

Two Time was basically the epitome of perfect--at least in the Church's eyes. Besides their generally scatterbrained and hyper behavior sometimes, Two Time was a great follower.

And also, it seems, who some had unceremoniously appointed as a guide for this newcomer--what was his name again? Azure, right.

"Hello, my name's Azure. And you are..?" Two Time remembered Azure saying, before they responded themselves with; "Two Time."

The other seemed a little puzzled at the name, but simply brushed it off. Azure had his bag for items he had brought with him, his hat, seemingly resembling something witchy, but he also had flowers adorning several areas, the happy sunlight falling over his face--

"So this is the Church..?" Azure's words snapped Two Time out of their trance.

Two Time nodded, then added, "Now you should be able to stay with us at the Church for the time being. So down the right hall there is--"

Azure piped up, "Sorry for interrupting...But I don't know where anything is in there," he admitted.

Down the winding halls, the two had some small talk. The previously awkward atmosphere seemed to fade, as the two seemed to actually enjoy the other's company. The whole area was unfamiliar and foreign to Azure, so having someone that could feel familiar was nice. And Two Time found it nice to talk to someone for once about something other than the Spawn--the Spawn was glorious, of course. But Two Time had spent their whole morning reading the Book of Spawn since they didn't have much to do. Everyone needed breaks, and for Two Time, breaks from the Spawn was far and few. But they didn't mind.

Leaning against the doorway of the room where Azure would temporarily (or permanently) be staying, Two Time watched, in a strange limbo between wanting to stay and wondering if they had overstayed their welcome. The room was small, but livable. Like a dorm room. Azure stood at a small desk, grabbing and unpacking what he had.

Two Time then noticed something peculiar, at least in their standards. "Do you really have that much stuff?" Two Time asked, looking over where Azure was gathering their items.

Azure seemed to look puzzled, "I thought this was an alright amount of stuff."

Two Time paused, their room was very barren. Mostly just filled with what they needed.

The two settled into a comfortable silence after, Two Time sometimes asking what something was, until--

"What's that?" They asked, eyeing the clearly aged sheet of paper the other Robloxian unpacked.

Azure perked up, "Oh this? Just an old bucket list that I made a while ago. Haven't even seen this in a long while," he mused.

Two Time took a minute, "...Uh, what's that?"

"What's what?"

"A bucket list."

"Oh," Azure answered, thinking for a moment. "A bucket list is like a list of things someone wants to experience or accomplish in life."

Two Time registered that information, shifting slightly, before saying, "Have you finished much in it?"

Azure tilted his head to the side, catching light that Two Time now noticed, "Well...not really. I would like to finish it at some point, even though it's old and a little odd," he said.

A short silence occurred, the duo looking at each other like they both were expecting the other to say more.

Two Time finally spoke up, "I could...help."

"Really?"

"Sure."

"Really really?"

"Mhm."

A small smile grew on Azure's face, he didn't know what he expected, but he was glad Two Time was willing to help. Two Time just felt like it was the right thing to do--after all, the Spawn in such situation would help. But really...the two were just both glad to be able to be comfortably in each other's presence.

Chapter Text

˖°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・

The sun rose from its slumber, its brilliant rays piercing through Azure's blinds.

It had been about a month or so since the botanist had moved into the Church and started his ventures.

The sunlight streamed through, shaking away the sleepy morning that settled into the fog of Azure's mind. It seemed almost divine.

Pulling his hat on his head, and adjusting his cloak--poncho without a hood? Whatever it was, Azure pulled it over his shoulders.

The bucket list sat pinned to the wall via a spare push pin he had found, but Azure hoped that maybe today something could be done. Since today he was going to see Two Time! Azure was understandably content--excited? Two Time was one of the Church members Azure had gotten familiar with after the first time he saw them. Azure hadn't had much time to talk, as most of his time was spent getting used to his new surroundings. Plus, the two were going to meet at a pond near the village outskirts where Two Time said there might be ducks.

The room had a lazy atmosphere, following the morning. Azure hadn't had much in the room to begin with, but he made do with what he could. The space seemed more homey every time he added something new. Whether it be a new potted plant, charm of the Spawn, or even just a polaroid picture.

A rug left from the room's past residents (if it had any) had small specks of dirt that fell out from the potted plants Azure had moved into the area reminded him of the need for cleaning. Azure noted that in the back of his mind.

After getting ready, Azure stepped out, the door clicking behind him.

The wind ruffled the leaves, sun burning brightly on the clearings below. The outskirts of the village weren't visited that often, most staying safe inside its confines. But Azure and Two Time got allowance to go, as long as they didn't stray to far.

Azure managed to find some bread for the ducks before the two met up.

Exchanging some enthusiastic hello's, the two Robloxians settled to walk down the path to where the pond should be. The path was coarse, mixed dirt and gravel. Small weeds that Azure noted sprung out randomly around the path, the road packed firmly by the times of its usage.

"So, what do you have for the ducks?" Azure asked Two Time.

The other perked up, "Some rice I found, you?"

"Bread."

"I don't think ducks should eat too much of that stuff," they replied, Azure getting flabbergasted.

Azure was absolutely shocked. That--that's like the main thing ducks get fed. That's probably not that good for the ducks...But a small amount should be alright. Next times Azure would have to do his research before getting bread for ducks.

"Wha-" he paused. "Really? Literally everyone feeds ducks that and they--A little should be fine, right?"

"Uh, yeah, probably," Two Time assured, a small smile on their face.

Small pebbles were kicked up from the dirt, the two heading towards the pond.

The sun shone down on the entire area. Trees blowing softly in the wind, the sounds of woodland creatures originating deeper in the brush. Ducks floated peacefully on the surface of the water. The two Robloxians exchanged excited glances, staring at the ducks for a moment.
Ripples appeared where the two Robloxians dropped breadcrumbs and rice grains.

The grass sprung up after every step, matted once again. The ducks below quacked with conviction--however they did that...

"What have you been doing lately?" Two Time asked the other, starting a small conversation.

Azure hummed, recalling the recent past, "Well...I have been adjusting to well--here. It's been good."

A small silence followed. The breeze flew softly through the trees, sunlight beating down on the pond below.

"..How about you?" he asked, looking over at the other Robloxian, for maybe a moment too long.

"Um," Two Time reached for words. "Other than everyday life...I mean, I can sew, I guess. So I've been doing some stuff." Very well described. They silently reprimanded themselves for the awkward words.

Azure smiled a bit, he didn't mind one bit, "That's cool. I've been getting more plants--I probably shouldn't fill my room with them, but it's been fine so far."

The two soon settled into a comfortable silence, exchanging glances and skipping stones. The Robloxians pockets slowly emptied, breadcrumbs and rice grains dropped down into the water below.

Words were exhanged, pebbles were skipped, the sun slowly fell lower in the sky. The wind picked up, turning the previously warm atmosphere chillier. However, the pair didn't seem to mind much.

"Hey, what do you think you would have in a bucket list of your own?" Azure asked, curious about what Two Time wanted to achieve.

Two Time paused, tossing the question around in their mind. They spoke, "Well...I would like to reach a respawn."

Silence settled for a moment, before Azure tilted his head, "Isn't that more of like a thing between life and death? Not to sound insensitive but--I guess that doesn't really work on a bucket list."

Silence.

"Huh," they stopped for a moment. "Well then...I don't know."

The two stared at each other for a moment, not quite awkward silence, but not quite comfortable either.

"...But I would still like to help you with your list," Two Time responded, a small uncertain smile blooming on their face. They didn't quite know what other goals they had, but they liked the idea of helping the other Robloxian.

Azure smiled.

For once, things felt blissfully peaceful, a rare moment in this chaotic world.
