Chapter Text
Saturday mornings were nice, as long as Junghwan didn't think a lot about how Dohoon was not going to be with them for a lot of time.
He woke up grumbling, walking to the bathroom like a zombie and quickly washing his face, he fixed his hair a bit and changed his clothes, the weather was supposedly to be chilly so he starts to look for a jacket in his messy closet, he groans and huffs, not knowing which one to choose since Dohoon was always picky about his outfits.
Because of course the jacket is for Dohoon, he's going to be dancing all morning, he doesn't need it, but Dohoon is going in a long travel to get to work, then changing clothes again and waiting until the recording starts, Junghwan is almost sure he will get cold, so, after a full thirty minutes, Youngjae opens the curtain to his bed, Junghwan’s eyes shot to him, feeling slightly sorry.
“You know, he's probably already at the door, so hurry up. Please” Youngjae says, voice soft and with a clever hit of sleepiness, he gave one final annoyed look at Junghwan and the older simply muttered a quick “sorry” to then get out of the room and leave the still tired Youngjae to rest a bit more.
Once he was out, he searched for Dohoon, he walks to the living room, glancing at the kitchen on the way, but then his eyes land of someone wearing an oversized shirt, one of his shoulder almost showing, a beanie that was actually his, and loose bermuda shorts that were kind of worn out.
Without thinking he reaches out and grabs his wrist, he knows he used a bit too much strength, his grip faltering when he hears the pained sound, but then he turns around, and Dohoon, with a hint of tiredness still on him, eyes half closed as he stares at Junghwan with confusion, yet makes no move to make him let go of his hand, he simply tilts his head and smirks.
“Hyung? Is everything alright? I– uh, I gotta go, you know”
“Y-Yes, its just– Well– Its cold, take this” He lets go of Dohoon’s wrist and carefully places his jacket on his shoulders, Dohoon, even if he rolls his eyes and lets out a sigh, complies and ends up putting it correctly, his hands barely visible thanks to the jacket being a tad too big for him, “Now, uh, go! Good luck, I’ll be watching you”
“Of course you will! You can't live without me” Dohoon says teasingly, winking before being scolded by their manager for taking too long.
He waves Junghwan goodbye, and he can't even process the words the younger said, since the living room is now full and lively, Hanjin finishing his skin care routine, Jihoona and Kyungmin grabbing something quick to eat and Youngjae was besides him, patting his back and looking surprised by the fact that he had actually given Dohoon the jacket.
The next moments are a blur, they get in a van, enter the already well known building, bow to some people, say hi to friends, and then their morning practice starts, with of course, the tv they had on that room on, displaying Dohoon and his two other coworkers, or friends, since Dohoon had taken a liking to both Ana and Gyuvin rather quickly. And once again, that weird feeling settles into Junghwan, he rubs his head, suddenly feeling a bit too lightheaded, and it only get worse when he looks at the screen, and there they are, Dohoon and Gyuvin, the older is holding a rose, at first making it seem like he's giving it to Ana, only to then kneel and give it to Dohoon, who blushes and stars to act cute.
The scenes make him jealous, now he can say it, he can recognize the jealousy, the way it makes him want to turn off the TV and go to Mucore himself to take Dohoon awake.
It wasn't the first time it happened, Gyuvin and Dohoon being cute, teasing and flirting with each other, playing around, and Junghwan didn't know what was the script and what was them, how much truth was in Gyuvin’s words when he says that Dohoon is as pretty as the rose.
Yet it's not the first time he’s felt this way towards Kim Gyuvin.Gosh. The times are countless now, but he recalls a specific one, and since they are in break, he decides to remember, to see how much of a fool he was and to maybe get to the bottom of his new dilemma;
Does Dohoon know how jealous he is?
Case O2 – Gyuvin
It was weird for them to have a free evening on Saturday, but no one was complaining, they were already planning on ordering some delicious food, maybe one plate of each of the members favorite food, Junghwan and Kyungmin were already setting the table while Youngjae placed some of the orders. But then, a loud scream was heard from Dohoon and Jihoon’s rooms, then, out came Jihoon, a smile almost as big as his face.
“Dohoonie has a da–”
Before he could finish the sentence, Dohoon came running, covering Jihoon’s mouth with his hands and laughing nervously, now everyone was looking at the chaotic duo, the one who broke the silence was Kyungmin.
“Uh, is everything okay?”
“Yeah!” Dohoon answers, trying to bring Jihoon with him as he steps backwards, probably to go back to their rooms, but Jihoon wiggles and even licks Dohoon’s hand, to which the older squeaks and starts to wipe of his hand on Jihoon’s shirt, “Y-Yah! Are you–”
“Dohoonie has a date! Gyuvin sunbae invited him to dinner!”
“Oh my God! That's so cool!” Hanjin appears from the kitchen, jumping excitedly and clapping his hands, “Will it be just the two of you? Hao ge is not going?”
“Is it really a date?”
“No! I-Its not! Jihoon’s just–”
“It is a date, he even gave Dohoon flowers when they were done with their work”
Dohoon was now a mess, face red and stuttering, trying to explaining how Gyuvin was just nice and trying to get to know him, but with both of the 06’s against him, asking what he was going to wear for his date and to update them on how everything went, he simply amidst defeat. Yet the topic remained.
And Junghwan? He was just standing there, right besides the table, the plate eh was holding now on forgotten on one of the chair since he didn't even have the time to properly place it, he makes his way to the living room and sits on the sofa, Dohoon’s eyes dart to him, their shy, nervous, shaky and looking everywhere, not keeping eye contact with anyone.
“So, uh.. A date?” Junghwan whispers, kind of to himself, as if he was convincing himself that Dohoon was once again going out, without him, to a most definitely nice place, such a romantic setting, intimate even.
Dinner.
They have never gone to dinner before. Yes, they've shared countless nights together, eating ramyeon at a convenience store, sharing a bottle of soju close to a river, and enjoying some fried chicken after a particular hard day of work.
But those were not fancy. They weren't romantic, they weren't dates.
And once again Junghwan was stuck, troubled, because the fact that he has never had a dinner with Dohoon upsets him a little bit too much.
“Does the manager know?”
“Yeah, uh, Gyuvin actually.. Asked them in person”
“Oh, he’s– uh, he’s dedicated”
“Please, hyung, dont– It's not a date okay?”
“I mean, the setting is,, rather, date-like don't you think?” The way he sounds angry, voice deep and almost uninterested, his hands clutching his own pants, his eyes glued to the floor, he almost forgets the rest are still there.
But suddenly a hand comes and rests on his shoulder, it squeezes it, reassuring.
“Junghwanie… I-Its not a date, okay? Gyuvin hyung is just, well, he likes to go out and do things… But it's not a date”
“.... Are you sure?”
Dohoon nods, scooting a little bit closer to Junghwan, their legs touching, his arms is now circling his shoulders, while the other holds his cheek and makes them look at each other, Junghwan’s sulky and angry front falters once he sees Dohoon smile.
Soft. Pretty. Trustworthy.
He relaxes in Dohoon’s hold, letting the younger caress his face.
“And well… It's not like we haven’t done similar things, right hyung?” At this, Junghwan’s face gets a bit redder, he shrugs, mumbling something about not being the same, about how nice a dinner is, but Dohoon just shakes his head, “Hyung, the place is not important, for me at least its not… Don't you remember the time where we spent almost 5 hours in that hot pot place? We cried and laughed so much, it was…. It’s one of the best nights I've had spent with you, with– with anyone”
The rooms was silent for some minutes, The three youngest looking around and giggling to themselves, whispering and mumbling until Youngjae’s phone rang, telling them the food was close to arriving.
Youngjae got up and went to wait for the food outside with Hanjin, while Jihoon and Kyungmin finished setting the table, trying their best to not stare too much and leave the two oldest alone. Junghwan didn't know what to do, the only thing on his mind was how Dohoon actually likes their hang out a lot. That night when they shared some hot pot was in fact one of the best memories for Junghwan as well.
He tries to reach out, to hold Dohoon, to make him stay, but his phone rings too, the screen lighting up, showing a puppy emoji along with the words “puppy hyung”, Dohoon glances at his phone, the name making him remember about the promise he already made, he looks back at his hyung, the one right in front of him, the one holding onto him so tightly.
Its funny, Gyuvin might be the one who has puppy as a nickname on his phone, yet right now Shin Junghwan looks like a puppy who just got told he was not going on a walk today.
It made Dohoon feel sad, but he likes Gyuvin, and he won't break a promise, so he pinches Junghwan’s cheek, making the older groan and glare at him.
“I gotta go, hyungie” He says softly, noticing the way Junghwan’s eyes go from his eyes, to his hands, to then simply avoid eye contact again.
“Yeah, have… have fun, even if we both know I'm the best at choosing places” Junghwan tries to joke a bit, to not make himself look like such a loser, and at least Dohoon laughs.
His eyes closing as he hits his shoulder softly, slowly his hands pull away from him, the warmth of Dohoon no longer with him, he misses it immediately, when he stand up he has to fight back the need to try and hold him again, when he disappear to his room he tells himself he cant follow him everywhere, and when he appears again, giving Junghwan a kiss on his cheek when no one was watching, sprinting to the door when Jihoon questions why both of them are so red, Shin Junghwan feels a bit better.
Because it doesn't matter if the place is fancy, or the food is better than what they were having, or if Gyuvin tries to keep taking Dohoon out to dinner.
He knows that at least, he is the only one who gets the special gift of Dohoon kisses, and with that, he sits on the table, his expression changed from gloomy to a mix of smug and happiness, and no one mentioned a thing, already used to the mood changes of the oldest when it came to their dear Dohoon.
As he finishes reminiscing, they are called to dance again, Jihoon explains somethings, how certain moves would look better, how expression were important, to then go and check every single one of their moves personally, the music now louder since Dohoon’s show was over, which means Dohoon was coming soon.
But it also means mentions of Gyuvin again.
At least now he knows what is going on with him. Now he can sit back and bury himself in his jealousy of how Gyuvin made him laugh, or how he gifted him a new plushie.
When Dohoon appears through the door, at first Junghwan tries his best to hide his excitement, even if Dohoon can practically see a tail wagging from side to side matching the tempo of Junghwan’s foot tapping the floor. He's only slightly surprised when Dohoon makes himself known to Junghwan by walking and placing himself right in front of him.
And Dohoon was still wearing Junghwan’s jacket. And his beanie.
A feeling of satisfaction washes over him, he smiles, taking a step closer to Dohoon, and whispers.
“Did you wear it all day?”
“Mh, both actually” Dohoon replies easily, pointing at the beanie and fixing the jacket slightly, “It was a bit…embarrassing, you know? Telling everyone it wasn't mine”
“Oh– Did- uh, did you tell him it was mine?”
Dohoon decides not to comment on the “him” Junghwan mentioned, and Junghwan for his parts didn't even notice he made the distinction, too caught up on the fact that everyone, and specially him, saw and knew Dohoon was wearing clothes that belonged to him.
“Well, yeah! I wasn't going to lie and say it was mine.. Everyone says you're too protective hyung”
“Sometimes, I guess…”
“More like with someone!” Youngjae says loudly, making everyone in the room burst out laughing, even Dohoon, who like always, covers his mouth with his hand.
Junghwan just sighs, because what can he do? What can he say? Just like Dohoon says, hes not going to lie.
But after thinking back, after remembering all the times Dohoon was stolen from him, he grabs his hand and pulls him closer, leaning down to his ear as he tries to speak as softly as he can.
“Wanna go eat ramyeon later?” He feels the way Dohoon tenses for a few seconds, he takes a step back, black shiny eyes staring back at him, face flushed.
“Huh.. Sure, yes– it's been a while, hasn't it?”
“It has.. I mean, someone has been keeping me away from you on Saturdays”
Dohoon huffs, kicking Junghwan and walking away, he can hear a few words about how no one is taking him away and how some people are just faster and less shy.
Junghwan laughs, letting his body rest on the nearest wall, watching as Dohoon talks with Hanjin happily about something.
He can only hope, with the way he talks and jumps, that hes talking about their ramyeon date.
