zim walked across the pavement. It was past midnight, so he hoped he could get away without a disguise.he was wearing sweatpants, and a dark sweater that covered his antennae, and most of his face. If he could just get in and out of the gas station without being noticed, that would be fine. He didn't need to put on a show, he didn't need to impress anyone, all he needed was to stock up on monster energy and ice cream. The monster, because he would be surprised if he slept in the next week, with his whole plan to take over earth, and the ice cream, because it was the only palettable human-worm food the planet had to offer. The bright lights of the gas station were stinging his irken eyes, he blinked and walked in, opening the fridges. He grabbed all of the goodies he could reach and threw them into his tote bag. He stepped up to the cash register, and put a single coin-like object on the counter. The cashier just looked surprised. Stupid humans and their currency. He ran out of the store, and the cashier started to chase him, then stopped when zim put out his metal spider legs and ran away full speed. Hopefully the minimum wage employee had just thought he was dreaming.. Or something. Zim knew that when he had extended his legs he had been out of view of the security camera. As he ran into his yard, he scaled his house. He had recently flattened the roof, and now it was a nice place to rest, nicer than his basement, at least. He had a sleeping bag up there, and a couple other things. He took off his sweatshirt, and his bare chest glinted in the moonlight.the brisk air calmed him down. The stars were very visible in the night. And part of him wished dib was looking at the same stars... NO. dib was his worst enemy, and the only puny human stopping him from taking over this stupid planet! Zim squeezed his fist, his sharp fingers digging into his palms, like he had done many times before. The tallest would not approve. And wasnt that what he wanted? His mission… but zim felt like something else had entered his life, something more important.someone.and that person was dib.
Would dib be awake at this hour? It must be-what? One, two AM on a Friday night? Zim knew spying was invading dib's privacy, but zim couldn't help his curiosity. He glanced in the dib's window, and could not look away. Dib in his pajamas, and looked mighty-fine. Zim’s cheeks grew hot, and you could see the deep shade of green his face had turned from a mile away. Dib was stretching, and his chiseled body, peeking from under his shirt as he raised his arm, drew zim’s eyes closer. He crawled down his wall, and faced dib’s window, maybe a foot away from him. Zim pulled out the phone he had gotten in his first year on earth, and texted dib. So far, he had only needed dib’s number to brag about his amazing evil plans, now he texted dib.
“DIB LOOK AT YOUR WINDOW”
Zim saw Dib look at his desk, and pull up his phone. He read the message, and glanced up at zim. He flinched. It was at this moment that zim realized that he had taken off his sweater earlier, and was now shirtless, and staring into his frenime’s (or more?)
Window. Dib was shocked. He furrowed his brow. Zim gestured to dib to come over here. Dib unlocked his window and opened it up. “Zim, why are you shirtless?” zim stuttered. “Uhhhh”... “I was hot.” You sure are now, dib thought. “Why are you at my window?” This question was harder to answer than the shirt one.
“I- uh… the night is nice and you can see the stars and, uhh.. Flattened my roof so now it's sit- on able…” dib. Shook his head. “Whatever.” he said. It's not like he had anything better to do. He stuck his hand out, and zim stuck out one of his metal legs to embrace dib, and bring him up onto zim’s roof. Dib looks around noticing the monster and sleeping bag. “So, uh zim… you planning to take over the world or something?” He stretched and rubbed his neck.
Zim shook his head. “I-I've been thinking. The whole “taking over earth and killing all humans” thing kind of lost its appeal now that I.. met humans i like.”
Dib blushed. “You- you like me?” he asked, awestruck.
“I-I know that what has gone on between us has been… antagonistic, at best. But I have grown fond of seeing you everyday, even if it's stopping you from ruling the earth. You gave me a goal, Zim. you gave me something to live for. Before meeting you, I thought I might have been crazy. But Zim, I really like you.” “Zim blushed.I don't have a way with words like you do, Dib-... Dib,but I feel the same. I’ve been thinking about you alot and- I-I AUGH! I like you alot, Dib!” Dib looked at the monster again.
“Zim, why do you have monster? You know that sleep is important, right?”
“I just can't sleep alone,” says zim.
“Do you think that sleeping bag has enough room for two?” Asks dib. They both blushed like shit.
“Yeah I do,I guess,” zim says reluctantly.they both hop in, dib’s body wrapped around zim’s and zim falls asleep before he can close his eyes.
When Zim woke up, he was cold, and he could see the sunrise. His arm was out of the sleeping bag, and in dib’s lap. Dib was sitting cross legged, and fully dressed, with a notepad in hand, studying Zim's arm, and caressing every finger. He pulled zim’s arm up, and looked from a different angle, pausing to write down a note. He must have seen zim open his eyes, because he dropped his arm and blushed embarrassedly. “Im… sorry… I know whatever going on between us- I mean i know,Uhm.. I know that you hold a special place in my h- I-I AHHHH!” he shook his head. “Whatever happens between us, I still have a lot of questions about your… Irken-ness…. Your species is very fascinating.” Zim blushed. Never in his life would he have thought about this, or how to answer that statement. “Uh, nice.” Zim Stretched, pulling his arm away from Dib. he threw on his sweater, and shook his head. Dib, your dad might get worried. “Nah.” dib said. He pointed to the window, where there was a two-by-four balanced between the window sills. ‘But, I am hungry. Aaand, as much as I love ice cream,”-He glanced at the pile that lay beside him-“It’s not very healthy for humans. I’m sure my dad would be fine with you coming over.” Dib said, standing up. “Actually, he’s on a business trip to southeast asia. So you don't need to put on your disguise. I'm sure gaz won't care.” Zim nodded. They both climbed down, across the board into dib’s window. Zim was the last to go in, and he ducked under the windowsill.
, plunking his foot in the sink. His foot steamed and he screeched. He hopped onto the table, slipping off that, and landing on the dib. He hopped off dib’s fallen body, and asked ;“Stupid Human water-counter! Dib! Are you okay?” dib nodded. “Yeah, I'm good. Kinda wet, though.” he looked to where zim had unknowingly splashed water all over the table, and dib. Dib pressed a button, and all of the water was sucked up through a metal tube that went through the ceiling. “I gotta check on gaz though. She's probably just sleeping in.”
He walked to her room, through the hall, and strange noises were coming from inside. It was what sounded like giggling, and murmuring, but with two voices, and zim recognized them both. “TAK BEAST!” he yelled. “You did not tell zim that you sister had been taken over by tak!” Dib shook his head and laughed. “You mean her friend? I don't know what you're talking about.” He opened the door and closed it, turning away. “Oh.” He had seen Gaz sitting on her loft bed with a purple-eyed alien that looked almost like zim.”What did you see?!?”Zim asked, pushing the door open. Gaz and Tak sat together, wearing matching pyjamas, and Gaz was just finishing Tak’s eyeliner. And they were both… BLUSHING!?! They stopped when they saw zim.”ZIM! YOU RUINED MY LIFE YOU !”
Zim looked shocked, gaz giggled, and dib just looked confused.”Get out of my room, Dib and your boyfriend.” Zim looked even more taken aback, and dib blushed. “IM NOT HIS B-” zim yelled then he looked at dib. Were they…? “I also saw all your drawings of him,” Gaz continued. “And read your diary.” Zim looked questioningly at dib, broken out of the trance.
Dib slammed the door.
So… that's an… interesting discovery” said dib, trying to make small talk. Zim nodded, fiddling with a multi-colored cube composed of many smaller squares. He had found it on dib’s desk. “Is that my rubik's cube?” asked dib. Zim held up the item. “This curious thing?” It was dib’s turn to nod.He held his hand out, and took it. In a few seconds, the cube had been solved, with the same color on each side. "Uhh." dib sighed. “Algorithms and stuff. Every time you turn… Well, you probably want breakfast. What do irkens eat, again?”
