Blights of Earth

Chapter 3: Chords.

Summary:

In rehearsal, Gilly begins to question his loyalty to Ziggy as tensions raise higher.

Chapter Text

"Again!"

Gilly flinched at Ziggy's barked command and he looked back down at his guitar, strumming the same chords he'd been given over and over again. He wasn't getting it right, but he didn't know how, he was making the same notes as Ziggy told him- so what was the problem?

"One more time. Get. It. Right."

Gilly looked up at Ziggy, noting his less than happy expression and the cigarette that sat between his fingers. Cigarettes. Fire, smoke and to Gilly, foul. What was it about Earth that just brought the worst in everybody?

Gilly looked back down at his bass, strumming the exact same chords again, getting about half way done before the guitar was ripped from his hands. In his surprise, he gave a slightly startled squeak. But he didn't complain.

"Like- Like this, Gilly!" Ziggy grunted as he strummed the chords for him. "Don't you hear how much better it sounds?-"

"..It sounds the same." Gilly said before even realising that he had stepped toward Ziggy and gripped the bass. Gilly was hesitant, though when he looked back at Ziggy's strange eyes, seemingly offended. "…To me. It sounds the same to me." Gilly practically murmured as he took the bass back, though making sure to be much more gentle in movement than Ziggy was for him.

"The same?! Are you a lunatic? What I just did was- was- was ART!"

Gilly looked over Ziggy's form as he stood back. Messy, red hair. Snow-white skin. Hardly the same sparkle as before. Gilly wasn't sure what had changed, but frankly.. He didn't like it. Ziggy didn't look nearly as glamorous as before.

"Oh.. okay." Gilly said quietly, though he hasn't registered most of Ziggy's banshee wails about how perfect he was. "What about.. changing the chords? Just slightly. Maybe a little deeper?" Gilly asked, very slightly tilting his head to the side as he looked at the horrified expression on Ziggy's face.

If I am interested, this work might be subject to more chapters involving Gilly.
