Notes:

I MAKE MY GRAND RETURN AND- aw dang it more prinxiety.
Hi, I realized that I never put this fic up on my ao3. It is so old, like at least a year old by this point. But this place is an archive so I'm keeping it here. I'm not into Sanders Sides like I used to be anymore, but I still miss the characters. Originally written for Prinxiety Week 2023 with the prompt "Movie Night"
I did make edits to this version, just something extra for this upload. Tell me if you can see some differences. Hope you enjoy <3

Work Text:

Virgil and Roman had been sitting in the living room for a couple hours. Tonight was their movie night; it was a way to bond with each other. They’d been doing it for quite some time now. It was shortly after Virgil’s ‘acceptance’ when this ritual had begun. Roman wanted to try and get to know him better, though he didn’t have much to go off of in regards to an activity the pair could do together and enjoy. There were plenty of ideas Roman had, but upon review at least half of the list was knocked out as the Side recognized that no, Virgil would likely not want to act on stage with him.

The only thing that Roman had to work off was he knew Virgil liked Disney films, which was a surprise to Roman initially. Albeit in hindsight, given that Thomas likes them it should not have been a surprise.

Roman would spend countless hours brainstorming, when he wasn’t working on his own creations of course. It’s when he ultimately settled on just watching the movies together. It was perfect, they could share how they felt about the plot and character, or just simply sit in silence and watch. No pressure for either of them!

And so, one-night, Roman asked Virgil if he wanted to join him to watch some Disney movies. It took a lot to convince him, until eventually, with some assistance from Patton, Virgil had finally given in.

“If I say yes this time, will you leave me alone?” He snarked, crossing his arms and eyeing him smugly.

“I promise, though I’d doubt you’d want that.” Roman retorted.

“Fine, if it’ll get you to stop.” Virgil had said, rolling his eyes.

It had been awkward at first between the two of them. Roman had found it remarkably hard to talk to him and Virgil wasn't going to say anything at first. While not speaking would be basic for a movie viewing experience, the silence had an uncomfortable energy to it. That was until one off-handed comment spiraled into a debate as the movie provided background noise that faded into the background. Seeing things from a different perspective.

Sure, they often argued over details, but they ended up finding more things in common with each other than they previously thought. The times where they both had the same thought from start felt magical. To be on the same wavelength, it was wonderful, especially when they were already preparing for the other to counter.

They would find themselves laughing at whatever ridiculous statement they assumed the other would say, it turned into a game for that night that they hadn't even realized the two of them had been up for so long.

After that night, Roman and Virgil both agreed they should do this once every 3 weeks. An odd kind of schedule, most would chose to do something like this once a week, but the both of them were busy people.

It had been nice to look forward to something in the future for once, especially for Virgil. Something to briefly distract him.

Currently however, the pair was in the middle of watching "Enchanted." Both were dressed casually, Roman in a matching pajama set and equipped with a robe, while Virgil wore a black long-sleeved shirt and some sweatpants that had the same pattern as his hoodie.

Roman was laying comfortably against Virgil's chest. Rather than sitting on the couch, they decided to sit in front of it.

With Roman's head near his lap, Virgil messed with his hair, running his hands through it. Roman didn't mind, even if it was messing up his good hair day. He was too engrossed in the movie. Besides, every day for him was a good hair day in his books.

"He's lowkey so you coated, and I hate that I know it." Virgil pointed out, his attention of the screen as the movie's prince character, Edward, showed up.

"He is the standard Disney prince archetype. It doesn't take a genius to put it together." Roman chuckled. Being a Disney prince was his brand. In the words of the Logan, it was a 'reasonable deduction' or whatever was adjacent to it.

"I'm surprised you know what an archetype is Princey." Virgil snorted. Roman did his best to gasp offendedly in his tired state.

"Though, I'm more him coated. Like it should be the other way around." Roman added. He could feel Virgil start to section off areas of his hair. Curiously he tried to reach up into his hair before a hand slapped him away. Roman turned his head slightly to look at Virgil incredulously, to which he just shrugged before looking back at the screen.

"Nah. I'm around you more. So, he's stealing your brand. We'll need to get him later for it, sue him." Virgil said sarcastically.

"Glad to know that you care about my image oh great edge lord." Roman yawned reaching into the nearby bowl of popcorn they had prepared. He threw some pieces into his mouth.

"Oh, come on now, that one was weak." Virgil complained referring to Roman's uncreative nickname.

"I'm tired! Leave me alone!!" The prince whined. As he did, Virgil began braiding the man's hair. It wasn't long enough to make it impressive, but he wanted to do something with his hands that was not just combing through Roman's hair.

Virgil continued to braid, and they fell into a silence, the only sounds being the movie and Roman eating the popcorn.

"Well, regardless I do appreciate your company. I've missed being able to just sit down with you like this" Neither of them would mention it directly. But they stopped for a while given recent events. It became too much to just sit down a relax. They'd often just complain to each other in Roman's room, mainly about Janus.

"Yeah... I did too. Though I could do without the complaints."

"Actually, I've changed my mind Virgil, fuck you and everything you stand for."

"Real mature, boo you’re a bad host."

"You're the one who invited me this time!" Roman protested.

"You didn't have to agree." Virgil pointed out.

"But I wanted to join you, can't have you watching with me." It be utter betrayal if Virgil were to watch without him, they couldn’t be having that.

"Alright then stop complaining. Got what you wanted right?"

Roman leaned his head further into Virgil's chest before looking up at him cheekily.

"Guess I brought this fate upon myself, woe is me!" Roman smiled guiltily. Virgil pushed him off himself to sit Roman back up.

"Stop moving, you're going to mess me up." Virgil uttered. Roman obliged and refocused his attention on the movie. Virgil tied the two braids he had made together. Just one last finishing touch he thought to himself. Virgil tried to be discreet, adding it in.

“Not bad if I do say so myself.” He mused, grabbing Roman’s attention away from the movie.

“Wait lemme see.” With a flick of the wrist, Roman summoned a mirror in his hand. He stared at his reflection, seeing what Virgil had done. Two neatly done braids adorned with mini stars in them.

“Where did you get these?” Roman asked, turning to Virgil and pointing to the stars in his hair.

“A master never reveals their secrets.” He answered with a wink.

“The suspense is going to kill me from the inside, oh no!” Roman cried out, pretending to gasp for air. They both laughed at the statement and continued to watch the movie, conversations done for the night.

In the morning, when Patton entered the living room in the morning, he walked in to see a sleeping Roman while Virgil was scrolling on his phone. The two of them had ended up on top of the couch now, Virgil with his legs crossed as Roman rested his head on his shoulder, slumped.

Seeing him, Virgil acknowledged Patton, waving to him before going back to whatever he was looking at on his phone. Glancing back up at Patton, as he hadn't moved stood still as he quietly squealed, he gestured for him to come closer.

Clearing his throat, Patton quietly walked over to the pair. Standing behind the couch, Virgil turned his phone around to Patton so he could view the picture he’d been staring at.

A selfie taken of the two of them with face masks on, a little blurry as if the person taking it was laughing. The only light in the room came from the TV that was positioned in front of them. Roman was flaunting off his mask and making a kissy face, his hair still in the braids.

Virgil had a similar mask, his smile a bit crooked, likely recovering from whatever spat got him to laugh so hard. His bangs were tied up and out of his face with a red scrunchie.

Patton couldn’t help the smile that grew on the face. Looking at Virgil, he saw the same red scrunchie around his wrist.

“Good night?” Patton asked.

“I guess so.” Virgil admitted.
