Is That a Wedding Ring?

Summary:

“It’s not like you got married all of a sudden and didn’t tell anyone!” Kirishima joked.

Katsuki stared at him.

“Katsuki, you didn’t get married and not tell anyone, right?” Kirishima asked seriously.

He scratched the back of his head. “Uh…”

Or, Katsuki's friends find out that he's married.

Work Text:

Katsuki walked into the breakroom of his agency with a bag slung over his shoulder, waving at Kirishima as he entered. He was dressed in plainclothes today, since he wasn’t going on patrol. He had been procrastinating his paperwork and decided to just spend the day getting it over with, as much as it pained him.

He headed straight for the fridge to put away his luncha cloth-wrapped bento that Izuku had made for him today. It was his favorite, extra spicy mapo tofu, just the way he liked it.

“Hey, man!” Kirishima smiled and patted him on the back.

Katsuki had started his own agency shortly after he graduated and offered his friends jobs, which they gladly accepted. It turned out pretty well, especially since he took the spot as number one hero.

He shoved the bento into his spot in the fridge, labeled Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight in bright red marker. “Hey, Shitty Hair.”

“You’re stuck on paperwork duty today, right?” He asked, giving him a sympathetic smile. “At least you have a homemade lunch!”

“Yeah,” Katsuki sighed, turning to look at him. “You’re just saying that ‘cause you suck at cooking.”

“Cooking is hard!” Kirishima whined. He suddenly looked confused as he stared at Katsuki’s hand. “Hey, what’s that?”

Katuki looked down, but didn’t know what he meant. “Huh?”

Kirishima pointed to his hand. “What’s with the ring?”

Katsuki held up his left hand, a gold band on his ring finger. He normally didn’t wear his wedding ring at work—preferring to keep it on a necklace tucked under his costume—but since he was just going to be in the office today, he figured it wouldn’t hurt to put it on.

Looking back, that was probably why his receptionist had given him a weird look when he walked in.

“Oh, I usually don’t wear it ‘cause of my quirk and hero work,” Katsuki explained to a still very much confused Kirishima. He shrugged as he let his hand fall to his side, Kirishima following the movement with his eyes. “I just felt like it today.”

“But, why are you wearing it on your ring finger?” He asked.

Kastuki blinked.

“It’s not like you got married all of a sudden and didn’t tell anyone!” Kirishima joked.

Katsuki stared at him.

“Katsuki, you didn’t get married and not tell anyone, right?” Kirishima asked seriously.

Katsuki scratched the back of his head. “Uh…”

“Wait, you’re not joking?!” Kirishima yelled, gaping at him. “What the hell, man? Why didn’t you say anything?!”

Katsuki shrugged, looking to the side. “It never came up.”

“I just—I mean,” Kirishima sputtered, exasperated. “You’re married? Like actually? Someone willingly married you?”

“What’s that supposed to fucking mean?!” Katsuki shouted.

Kirishima waved his hands in a placating manner. “I don’t mean…  You’re just, well, not the easiest to tolerate?”

“Gee, thanks,” Katsuki deadpanned.

“Man, I just really can’t believe you’re married…” Kirishima pressed the palms of his hands to his eyes. He suddenly whipped his head up and gasped, giving Katsuki an excited look. “You gotta introduce me! I bet she’s tough to deal with your crap!”

“He, dumbass,” Katsuki huffed, flicking him on the forehead.

“Sorry!” Kirishima yelled. “I shouldn’t have assumed, I guess I just didn’t know you were into guys. Well, you never really seemed to be into anyone now that I think about it…”

Yeah, since the only person he ever liked was Izuku.

“Whatever,” Katsuki sighed and rolled his eyes. “Look, I guess you can meet him. Come over tomorrow and I’ll explain everything then. Oh, you can bring the other extras too.”

Kirishima’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “Really?”

“Yeah, you’re probably gonna tell them anyway,” he said, walking to the door. “Besides, he’s been bugging me about meeting you all.”

“Awesome, you’re the best, man!” Kirishima smiled. “I want the full story, you better not leave anything out!”

“Yeah, yeah,” Katsuki grumbled.

Katsuki swung his front door open, sighing at the group of overly excited people standing in front of him. Kirishima, Kaminari, Mina, and Sero crowded around him, nearly bouncing off the walls.

“Hey, man!” Kirishima said happily, eagerly peeking over his shoulder. “Gonna let us in?”

Katsuki raised his eyebrow and crossed his arms. “Are you guys going to behave?”

They all nodded in sync, a serious look on their faces. It was almost creepy. No, it was definitely creepy.

Katsuki sighed again, already knowing how this was going to go. “Just—I know you’re going to fawn over him, but don’t crowd around him and get in his face. He’s not a fucking dog.”

Kirishima puffed his chest up and saluted him. “Yes, sir!”

Katsuki dragged his hand down his face and stepped to the side, unenthusiastically gesturing for them to come in. They scrambled through the door like a pack of wolves, ready to hunt down their prey.

As soon as the self-proclaimed “Bakusquad” was inside, they stopped and looked around in wonder. Katsuki knew he had a nice house—not anything too excessive—but definitely a little fancy. It had been pretty easy for him and Izuku to save up for a house since they were both at the top of their industries.

His friends at least had the decency to take their shoes off at the genkan, lest they get his hardwood floors dirty.

“Damn, Kastuki,” Sero said, laughing in disbelief. “It looked nice from the outside, but wow. This is really impressive.”

Kaminari was spinning in circles like a dog chasing its own tail, his neck craned unnaturally toward the high ceiling. He turned to Katsuki and pouted.

“Is this what it’s like being number one? What are they paying you?” Kaminari whined.

Katsuki laughed cruelly, looking smug. He guided them over to the living room, so they weren’t just standing in the entryway the whole time. Mina darted away before he could stop her, probably trying to explore. The rest of them plopped on his sectional couch, excitedly pointing to his flatscreen.

Mina ran up to him only a minute later and shook him back and forth dramatically. “You have a library in your house, a library!”

“Yeah, that’s for Izuku,” Katsuki explained, a small smile on his face. Izuku often did work from home, so it was helpful to have a space for him to store his stuff. “He’s a huge nerd.”

Mina gasped, her eyes wide. “You’re smiling! And not in a way that makes kids cry!”

“Shut up,” Katsuki huffed. He looked around and realized Izuku was nowhere to be seen. He probably got distracted doing something again, like reorganizing his notebooks for the millionth time. “Izuku!”

A few seconds later, Izuku poked his head into the living room, lighting up when he spotted Katsuki. He was wearing a green knit sweater that matched his hair and a pair of black pants, looking like he fit into their house perfectly.

Katsuki walked over and gave him a chaste kiss on the lips, making Izuku blush.

“Hi, Kacchan,” Izuku said quietly, giving him a private smile. He could tell he was a little nervous, but looked happy at the prospect of finally meeting his friends.

Katsuki chuckled. “Hey, Izuku.”

“Oh my gosh!” Mina squealed, running up to them. She grabbed Izuku’s hands excitedly, bouncing in place. “I’m Mina, it’s so nice to meet you!”

Izuku laughed at her enthusiasm, smiling brightly. “I’m Izuku! It’s nice to meet you too, Mina!”

“You’re so cute!” Mina nearly screamed, only barely managing to keep her voice at an acceptable level. “When Ei told me that Katsuki had a husband, I never imagined someone so adorable!”

Izuku’s cheeks turned pink, making his freckles stand out. “T-Thank you.”

“You have to tell me everything about you guys, I need details!” She said with vigor.

Izuku snorted, giving Katsuki a teasing look. “I’m sure Kacchan would love that.”

“Kacchan?” Sero asked, looking amused.

Katsuki growled at him, which just made him laugh. Along with Sero, the rest of his friends had stood up and walked over to them, looking excited.

“This is Eijirou, Hanta, and Denki,” Katsuki said, gesturing to each of them. He then gestured to Izuku. “Guys, this is Izuku, my husband.”

“I’ve heard so much about you guys!” Izuku said, smiling at them. He then bowed deeply, clasping his hands together. “Thank you so much for taking care of Kacchan, I know he’s difficult to handle.”

“Hey, you’re supposed to be on my side!” Katsuki yelled, affronted.

“No problem, bro! He’s not so bad once you get to know him,” Kirishima laughed, ignoring Katsuki’s comment. “Most of the time.”

“HEY—”

“Yeah!” Kaminari laughed along with the rest of the group, interrupting Katsuki. “I don’t know how you do it, man! You gotta be a saint to be married to him!”

Izuku giggled at their comments, but grasped Katsuki’s hand, interlacing their fingers. Katsuki hated to admit it, but it was hard to be mad when Izuku’s hand was in his. He grumpily pulled Izuku to the couch, everyone following them.

“Wait!” Izuku said, jumping up. “We have snacks! I totally forgot.”

Izuku hurried off back to the kitchen and returned a few seconds later, holding a tray with a pot of tea and some cookies and other treats. He set it on the coffee table and sat next to Katsuki, nestling into his side so they were pressed together.

“Please help yourself!” Izuku said eagerly, gesturing to the snacks. There were cookies decorated like heroes, including everyone present.  “I was really excited to meet you all and may have gone a little overboard…”

“Woah those look awesome, dude!” Kaminari exclaimed, picking up a cookie with his face on it. “You even got my hair right! You must be super into heroes, huh?”

Izuku laughed nervously. “Yeah! I’m actually an analyst, so I deal with heroes all the time.”

“Hey, wait a sec…” Sero said, squinting at Izuku. “Aren’t you that famous analyst that like every hero agency fights over?”

Katsuki laughed as Izuku flushed a deep red, slinging his arm around his neck. He was proud that Izuku had made such a name for himself.

Izuku smiled shyly. “Yeah… that’s me.”

“You’re Bakugou Izuku! That’s crazy, man!” Kirishima said. He looked between the two of them and suddenly face palmed, whining miserably. “Wait, how did I not make that connection?! You guys literally have the same name, I’m so stupid…”

“That’s right!” Mina said. “Is that how Blasty got you to do analysis for his agency?”

“Yeah!” Izuku nodded rapidly. “I would never charge to do analysis for you guys, though. You’re his friends, and I know how much he cares about you!”

Katsuki groaned as they collectively cooed at him. “You’re such a damn sap.”

“You love me, though!” Izuku laughed, smiling at him.

Katsuki huffed, but pressed a kiss to Izuku’s head. “Yeah, whatever.”

“So, how did you guys meet?” Kaminari asked. “You guys are like polar opposites, so you must have an interesting story.”

“Oh, Kacchan’s known me since I was born!” Izuku smiled at them, clearly excited to talk about them. “I knew the moment I saw him that he was the love of my life…”

Katsuki shoved Izuku’s head down playfully, heat rising to his cheeks. “Oh my god, you’re so dramatic.”

“But, it’s true!” Izuku whined. “I don’t remember a single moment of my life where I didn’t love you.”

“Oh my gosh, you guys are so cute!” Mina screeched, fawning over them. “That is like the perfect childhood sweetheart story!”

“It’s not perfect, I was still a jerk to you,” Katsuki mumbled, still feeling guilty about the way he treated Izuku when he was a kid.

“Yeah, but you apologized and made up for it,” Izuku said gently, holding Katsuki’s hand. “I couldn’t ask for a better husband.”

Katuski looked away but squeezed Izuku’s hand back in thanks. He glanced at his friends, who were sniffing and wiping their eyes. They were all a bunch of saps, but he couldn’t help the warm feeling in his chest at their reactions.

“We got together when we were fifteen, after I got my head out of my ass. He went to a different high school, but I always visited him when I had the chance,” Katuski explained. “If you guys thought I was rough around the edges at UA, you don’t even want to know what I was like before then.”

“So that’s why you never spent the weekend at the dorms…” Sero mumbled.

“Wow, yeah that must’ve been tough,” Kirishima said, scratching the back of his head. “So, when did you guys get married? I literally didn’t know until yesterday.”

Izuku laughed, mindlessly playing with his wedding ring. “Pretty much right after we graduated.”

“What?!” They all yelled.

“You’ve been married for six years?!” Mina shouted, looking utterly shocked. “That’s like—How did we not notice?”

“Geez, fucking calm down, will you?!” Katsuki screamed, making them all settle down. “We’d already known each other our whole lives, so we figured there was no point in waiting.”

“I still can’t believe you didn’t invite us!” Kirishima whined. “Now I’m never going to get to be your best man!”

“We had a courthouse wedding, it was literally just our parents there,” Katsuki said boredly. “I didn’t even want them to be there, but the nerd forced me.”

Izuku shook his head, feigning disappointment. “I wasn’t going to let you not invite your parents to our wedding, Kacchan.”

“Whatever,” Katsuki grumbled. “Is that enough information for you all? ‘Cause I ain’t telling you shit after this.”

“You gotta come visit the agency some time!” Kaminari said excitedly. “That way we can make fun of Katsuki without him beating us up!”

“Oh no, I’ll still beat your asses,” Katsuki said darkly.

Izuku smacked his arm, pouting at him. “Kacchan, be nice.”

“Ugh, fucking fine!” Katsuki groaned.

Kaminari grinned. “See what I mean? You tamed him!”

“I’ll kill you, Sparky!” Katsuki yelled, lunging for him.

“Okay, okay, that’s enough, you two,” Izuku chided, grabbing Katsuki’s wrist to keep him from trying to maim Kaminari. “I’ll come visit every once in a while to make sure he’s not being too mean to you guys.”

Katsuki glared at him. “Don’t encourage them.”

“C’mon, we can have lunch dates!” Izuku said, giving him a look. “It’ll be fun!”

“Yeah, fine,” Katsuki huffed, willing his face to remain a normal color. “I don’t know why I married you.”

“I distinctly remember you saying something about how great my ass—”

“Okay, that’s enough!” Katsuki yelled, cutting Izuku off by slapping his hand over his mouth. He turned to his friends who were barely holding in their laughter, glaring at them. “You guys can leave now.”

“Alright, Blasty!” Mina sang, dragging everyone to the front door. “Don’t have too much fun without us!”

“You’re never going to let this go, are you?”

“Nope!” She said happily, skipping away.

He sighed as they waved goodbye, flipping off Sero as he gave him a thumbs up. Even though he would never admit it, Katsuki couldn’t ask for a better group of friends.
