“Taehyung!”
“My little tiger!”
“Where are you hiding, my little Alpha prince?”
Those were the words that resonated across the palace hallways on a Wednesday afternoon as a concerned Omega King Jimin looked for his 8-year-old son.
Taehyung, the little Alpha prince, had returned from school half an hour ago. Yet, despite the little prince telling Felix —his personal bodyguard who escorted him to and from school— that he was heading straight to his Omega father’s study, he was nowhere to be found. Jimin assumed that his son had gone straight to his room instead, perhaps eager to read one of his many books or tired from a long day of classes.
He just prayed to the Moon Goddess with all of his heart that his son wasn’t in his room, once again hiding under his favorite and coziest blanket and sobbing into his pillow.
Please, Moon Goddess. Please let him have had a good day…
Jimin was almost at his son’s room, ready to tickle him and engulf him in a bear hug so strong and full of love that it would wipe away any sadness or tears that could have possibly followed him home.
Except that when Jimin finally got to Taehyung’s room, he was not there.
Now, Jimin knew that his son was definitely somewhere in the castle— Felix had brought him home, after all. The Kingdom of Borahae was a peaceful one, and the castle was an extremely safe place, but that didn’t stop him from worrying about his son and where he could be.
Which is exactly why he was now hastily walking across the palace, calling out for Taehyung while using his strong sense of smell to sniff out his pup’s citrusy yuzu scent.
Oh, Luna…what could have happened for him to not come talk to me after school? Or for him to not even be in his room?
Please, please give me the strength and grace Moon Goddess to not go make some mean little 8-year-olds cry. Because if they made my little tiger cry again…
Despite deep in thought, the Omega suddenly stopped in his tracks as soon as he approached the white french doors that led to the palace gardens, feeling an immense sense of relief as he breathed in the subtle (and much closer!) scent of yuzu.
His pup was near!
But the farther he stepped into the garden, the more he picked up the sour tone of his son’s scent.
It smelled slightly sour, yet watered down…
Jimin walked towards the back and soon approached the rose hedges, and that’s when he saw his son straight ahead.
Despite Taehyung having his back to him, Jimin could see that he was sitting cross legged and hunched over in front of the small pond. He was accompanied by his favorite tiger plushie, Tata, on his right.
As the omega quietly made his way closer to him, he stopped dead in his tracks when he heard his son sniffling.
Taehyung was crying! He had to get to him— now!
But then he heard Taehyung speak— mumbling since it was a bit difficult to understand what he was saying.
Actually, it sounded like he was making a wish.
Jimin was torn between running to his son and providing him comfort or allowing him the privacy to finish wishing to the Moon Goddess.
The Omega King ultimately decided to turn around and walk away to the nearest bench to give his little Alpha prince some more time alone, but it was almost impossible to not hear what his son was now saying from where he was sitting.
And what he heard broke his heart.
“Dear Luna, *sniff* please, please send me some nice friends. Even one friend will do. *sniff* I know you must be busy *sniff* helping others, *sniff* but I could really use a true friend. *sniff* Maybe one who is shy like me *sniff* and who won’t wanna be my friend *sniff* just ‘cause I’m a prince.”
Oh, my little tiger…not again.
Now, one may assume that being an Alpha —and a prince!— would make life much easier. And King Jimin understood why many would think that…since he had once believed the same thing.
But that was before he was adopted by his loving Beta parents who so happened to work at the palace as a cook and gardener. Living on the palace grounds, he was able to see that everyone, no matter their subgender or status, had troubles.
And it was a particularly handsome and shy Alpha with an adorable gummy smile that had taught him that being an Alpha Prince brought its’ own struggles, especially if an Alpha Prince was different from what people expected an Alpha Prince to be like.
So, Jimin unfortunately knew that bullies —no matter the subgender, status, or age— existed.
Despite Taehyung being a kind and friendly pup —as well as the future Alpha King of Borahae— he was not spared from other children being mean to him.
His little tiger had confessed that he was made fun of for any little thing— for preferring to read his books about a wizard during recess and lunch, for choosing the guitar and playing The Beatles during music class, for having a “weird” scent…
His classmates claimed he was a “rude and snotty’ prince (but he was just shy!), and while most of them simply made fun of him, some went as far as to pretend to be his friend and asked for favors under the guise of “friendship”.
“You’d rather read than play soccer with us? Loooser!”
“Why don’t you talk to any of us? You probably think you’re sooo much better than us because you’re the prince, right?”
“Oh man, I wish I had a cool jacket like that. I would totally be best friends with whoever gave me a jacket like that but in blue…”
Those evil, little bullies were ruthless.
But even though he was only 8 years old, Taehyung kept his head high at school, continuing to treat everyone with kindness and respect…even if he didn’t get it back in return. His son was young, but as the future leader of the kingdom, he knew better than to show “weakness” to those who tried tearing him down. It was once he got home that he let his feelings out.
Jimin wiped the tears that were now running down his face.
Oh, Taehyung…
His son was so much like him and Yoongi, his Alpha Father and the King of Borahae. And while it brought a smile to his face…it also broke his heart to know he was getting bullied because of those similarities.
Jimin himself had been adopted from The Omega Orphanage when he was 9 years old. And just like Taehyung, he was shy, which had made it difficult to make friends. He also hid his sad feelings until he was alone, never letting any of the other Omega children see him cry about having been put up for adoption as a newborn pup and still not being wanted by any families. But the orphanage was an extremely pleasant place with the most patient and caring workers, and he got along well with the other 12 children there, so he saved his tears for when he found himself alone.
Because of his timidness, little Jimin didn’t have a best friend, despite getting along with all the other kids. But then, on one sunny and lucky day, he met Seokjin…the baker’s son.
The other Omega boy was just as shy as Jimin, but they had bonded over their love of dancing one day when Seokjin had come to the orphanage with his mom. They were only 5 years old at the time, but Seokjin had seen Jimin dancing by himself in the gym and immediately ran to him, tapping him on his shoulder and instantly dancing and showing him his cool moves. Jimin’s face lit up and he proceeded to keep on dancing and show the other boy more of his moves as well! They continued dancing, jumping and wiggling, until they both fell on the floor from how much they were laughing at the super silly dance moves they had come up with.
“Hi! I’m Seokjin! My mommy is Baker Andrea! I came to work with her today be-because it’s my birthday…and I missed her…” Jin shyly, but happily, said.
“I’m Jimin! Uhm…Happy Birthday! You dance good! Like…really, really good!”, Jimin timidly, but sweetly replied.
They continued talking until Jin’s stomach grumbled. He was hungry for his birthday cake! He grabbed Jimin’s hand, even smaller than his own, and they walked over to the kitchen hand in hand. She was pleasantly surprised to see that her timid son and shy little Jimin had met and instantly become friends. They were both Omegas, 5 years old, and shy but so extremely silly. And they had so much in common that it seemed more like they were twins than two little strangers who had just met!
For the next 4 years, “Jinnie” and “Minnie” spent every day that they could together. They would help Jin’s mom bake in the kitchen, dance together for hours, and make flower crowns and other creations for all the other children in the orphanage. But most importantly, they would always have fun together, and in the process helped each other get out of their shells and be less shy.
Unfortunately, Baker Andrea and Seokjin had to move back to her home village about 2 hours away (but still within the kingdom) when the boys were 9 years old due to Seokjin’s grandma falling ill. Jimin was always (and would forever be!) grateful for having had the opportunity of meeting Seokjin, his first friend, who had helped him blossom into the sassy and dramatic (yet still introverted!) Omega that he was today. Being so young, they hadn’t even thought about how they would keep in touch when Seokjin abruptly moved away and Jimin was adopted by the loveliest Beta parents a few weeks later. But until this day, Jimin still missed his old friend and hoped he was happy and healthy. Looking back, he wished that he could have kept in touch. Perhaps letters would have worked best back then and—
Wait!
Letters…
Perhaps there was a way for his little prince to find a good friend his age who shared his interests! And all without them knowing he was the future Alpha King of Borahae…
Oh, my little tiger…I think you, Seokjin, and the Moon Goddess just gave me a wonderful idea.
Jimin allowed Taehyung to finish his wish by the pond and patiently waited for him at the bench to re-enter the palace. Once Taehyung saw his Omega father, the young prince ran straight into his arms, Tata included. Jimin spun them around, causing his little tiger to giggle and plead to put him down. Once inside, he personally prepared his son’s favorite food—spaghetti. They ate it together and then devoured some strawberry ice cream while watching Taehyung’s favorite movie— Lilo and Stitch.
By the end of the night, his son was all smiles and had forgotten all about the mean things those those mean little pups had told him. They had the entire weekend to create more happy memories for him to hold onto for when things got rough.
Jimin wanted nothing more than for Taehyung to always be this happy, and to have a friend —and one day a mate— to share happy and fun moments like these with him in the future.
That night, after tucking his smiling, but tired little pup into his bed, Jimin waited for his Alpha to arrive back home from his trip to Once Land.
He smiled wide as he saw the Alpha walk through the door of their bedroom. His Alpha— the one that he had fallen in love with when they were just two shy but sassy teens and who he was now eternally grateful to call his husband and the father of his son.
“Yoooooooongiiiiiiiiii, my loooooooooove!” Jimin yelled as he ran and crashed into a just as excited Yoongi.
“My love!” The Alpha growled as he nuzzled his lovely Omega’s neck, “I’ve missed you, dearly.” He looked down at the love of his life and planted a soft, passionate kiss on those pink, plump lips of his. “Hmmm…I recognize that sparkle in your eye very well, my love…and it’s definitely not the one I was expecting after being gone for a week…” Yoongi raised an eyebrow at Jimin who looked up at him with shiny, eager eyes.
“Yoongi…My Alpha…My King. I happen to have an idea. An idea that would benefit our son, and various other pups in the kingdom, and I would greatly appreciate your support…”
Yoongi held Jimin’s hand in between his own, placing a soft kiss on them. “Of course, my love. Please, tell me what you are thinking…”

“Jungkookie! Where are you, bun?” Seokjin called out. He had just finished baking the cookies he had been hired to make for a surprise party later that day, and his pup was nowhere to be found inside their little cottage. He ventured out into the garden and once he walked a bit farther into the woods right next to their home, he found him, his sweet little Jungkook. And as always, he was surrounded by a handful of forest animals— birds, deer, squirrels, and of course…bunnies.
“Okay, friends. Wait your turn, okay?” Jungkook giggled and then opened his Iron Man lunch box (which usually held his school lunch!) and took out a handful of carrots, berries, and half a loaf of bread that was torn into smaller pieces.
Food items that Jin had specifically given him as a midday snack on a plate around a half our ago…
He sat down on a large rock as he watched his 8 year old place a few pieces of food in front of each animal, all of them waiting patiently. Once they had all ate their share, the deer nudged his little hand in thanks, the birds chirped a little tune in appreciation, the squirrels left him some acorns in front of his feet, and the bunnies hopped around his feet in circles.
Just as Seokjin was about to get up and walk over to collect his little rascal, he heard Jungkook say something to the bunnies that remained at his feet.
“Oh, b-b-b-bunnies. I wish it was th-this easy to make friends at s-s-school. You animals are alwaysss nice to me, even when I cant brrrrrrring food. But maybe one day, I’ll have a frrriend.”
Seokjin felt his heart shatter. His Jungkookie was always full of giggles and smiles and energy at home, running around and talking nonstop despite his stutter. He was so kind and got along with all animals— even the ones Seokjin was scared of, like frogs!
But unforunately, his little bun didn’t have friends at school.
At school, Jungkook was bullied every time he spoke. So he had decided to not speak unless he had to and kept to himself, reading his books or drawing in his notebook during recess and lunch. When the other pups teased him, he ignored them, even though their words hurt. A lot.
But when those pups teased other children, his bun always responded…with his little fists. He had already been called into the office three times this school year, with his Jungkookie sitting down and glaring at the bullies he had hurt, slits for eyes and his foot thumping like an agitated rabbits. The administration knew about the bullying he suffered, yet his pup was the only one who ever got in trouble due to his “inappropriate responses”…
Seokjin knew that it was only a matter of time before they had to switch schools…again. But he wasn’t mad at his son because none of the schools had been a good fit for Jungkook if he was still getting bullied and nothing was being done. He knew they would find the perfect school for him— he just wished it was sooner rather than later because his son really needed a kind friend. Even just one.
He continued looking at his pup, a tear escaping his eye, as he he picked up the bunnies and nuzzled their faces. Oh Luna, how he wished Jungkook could make at least one true friend! Someone who wouldn’t tease him about his stutter and who could see all the good things about him.
Jungkook put the bunnies down and turned around, smiling and starting to walk back home. But then he saw his Omega Papa…
He looked down at his lunch box with guilty eyes and walked slowly towards his father, dragging his feet and staring at the ground the entire time.
“Jungkook…” Seokjin said, but Jungkook didn’t look up. “Why aren’t you looking at me, bun?”
“Papa…are you mmmad?” Jungkook quietly asked.
Seokjin shortened the distance between them and crouched down so that they were now eye level. “Why would I be mad at you, bun?”
“B-b-b-because I took the fruits and brrread you gave me for a snack…and I gave them t-t-to the animals instead…”
“I’m not mad, bun. But that food was for you. I need to make sure that you eat too, so that you can grow up to be healthy and strong.” He ruffled his son’s wavy hair. “When you want food for the animals, you just have to ask me and I’ll give you something for them so that you can all eat together.”
“I know, papa! B-b-but you were busy b-baking. I’m sorry…”
“I’m never, ever too busy for you, Jungkookie. Never forget that.” Seokjin placed a kiss on his son’s forehead. “Come, let’s go inside and make you something to eat, okay? Your dad should be back from the store soon and then you can help me decorate some cookies, if you’d like.”
“Yes! I llllove helping you bake!” Jungkook excitedly responded.
Just as they entered the back garden of their cottage, they saw someone who looked like a palace worker walking up to the front of their house.
Jungkook looked at his papa, looking just as confused as he did.
The palace worker was just about to knock the front door when he saw them. “Oh! Hello, there! My name is Hoseok Jung and I come on behalf of the palace of The Kingdom of Borahae.”
Seokjin wondered what a palace worker could possibly be doing in their neck of the woods, so he answered cautiously. “Hello. My name is Seokjin. How can we help you?”
“Hello, Seokjin. It’s a pleasure to meet you! Is this little one your son?” The man appeared friendly, with a bright and cheery smile, but Seokjin instantly tensed and took a protective stance in front of Jungkook. Why was he asking about his pup? His Omega was suddenly on high alert. His Alpha, Namjoon, should be back from the store any minute…
Hoseok quickly realized that he had startled Seokjin’s Omega. “My sincerest apologies, Seokjin! I didn’t meant to worry you or your Omega! I only ask because the Kingdom of Borahae is sending invitations to all pups between the ages of 8 and 16 for a newly created pen pal program. The Omega King hopes that it will allow pups of the same age to make friends, even if they live across the kingdom. You look very young, so I wasn’t sure if you were an older brother or parent! If the little one is your pup, I can leave the invitation with you to look over if you are interested. If not, I can come back when his guardians are home!” The palace worker nervously chuckled, internally scolding himself for having unintentionally scared the Omega.
At hearing that, Seokjin relaxed. And he even giggled. “Well, thank you for the compliment, Hoseok. I’m this pup’s Omega father. Jungkookie— it’s alright. He’s a palace worker. Why don’t you say hello?”
Jungkook then peeked from behind his father and shyly smiled, bowing his head. “Hhhhhello…I’m Jungkook.”
“Hello, Jungkook! It’s a pleasure to meet you! I was just telling your father that the palace is starting a new program for pups who are between the ages of 8 and 16.”
“I’m 8 years old!” Jungkook responded with excitement.
“What exactly is the program?” Seokjin asked.
Hoseok smiled as he explained. “It is a Pen Pal Program. If your pup is interested, they can fill out the form with some simple questions, like their favorite food, movie, and hobby. Then, I and another palace worker will match pups of the same age with a pup with similar interests. We will then send you an envelope with your “Pen Pals” address so that you can start sending letters back and forth. Overall, it is a program to help pups make friends through sending letters!”
Jungkook’s round, brown eyes lit up! “I really w-w-want a friend! Papa, can I p-p-p-participate, p-p-please?”
Hoseok smiled at the pup’s reaction. The little pup, Jungkook, reminded him of the little Alpha Prince back at the palace and he couldn’t help but think that they would make great Pen Pals.
Seokjin was shocked! It seemed that the Moon Goddess had heard his prayers, and was giving his Jungkookie the opportunity of making a friend! He smiled wide at his son as he responded, his heart feeling hopeful. “I think it sounds like a marvelous idea, bun! And I’m sure your dad will say yes, but we still need to make sure he agrees once he comes back from the store, okay?”
“Okay, papa!” Jungkook hugged his father tightly, excited for the chance to make a friend.
“Well then, here you go, Seokjin and Jungkook! All you have to do is fill out this scroll and I’ll be back to collect it in a few days on my way back to the castle. We hope to match all pups who are interested in participating by the end of the month so that you can begin sharing letters soon!”
“Thank you, Mr. Hhhhoseok!” Jungkook thanked the kind palace worker and bounced around with the scroll in his hand.
Jungkook then looked at the scroll and hugged it close to his heart, closing his eyes. Was this really happening? Would he finally make a friend? He really hoped so.

Chapter 2: Dear Tae Tae, / Dear Kookie,
Notes: “Tae Tae” and “Kookie” are Pen Pals! A true friendship and lots and lots of letters throughout the years later…
💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌
It was a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning, birds happily chirping outside, as Seokjin stood in the kitchen whisking the batter for the banana pancakes that Jungkook had so sweetly asked him to make for his birthday.
Because today was September 1st. And Seokjin still couldn’t believe that today his little pup was turning 9 years old.
“Papa, p-p-papa! Do you think I can send Tae Tae some p-p-pancakes through the mail?” Jungkook came rushing in to the kitchen at full speed, nearly crashing into the kitchen table. And of course he had his favorite glitter pen and stationary box in his hands.
“The mmmail man hasn’t come yet, right p-papa? I still have ssso much to tell Tae Tae!” And just as quick as he had entered the kitchen, Jungkook had ran out to the front yard in his Iron Man pajamas to check if there was any mail in their box.
Oh, his little pup.
His happy, little pup.
His pup who was now so extremely happy all of the time because he had finally made a friend. A little Alpha friend his age who went by “Tae Tae”.
And it was all thanks to the Omega King and the Pen Pal Program he had created. Seokjin wished he could one day personally thank him because he had never seen his son so happy since he had started corresponding with his Pen Pal— Tae Tae.
Just then, Seokjin was startled by a high pitched scream, and he almost dropped the plate of pancakes he was placing on the table.
“P-papa! Tae Tae sent mmmmeee a gift!” Jungkook ran in, somehow managing to hold his pen, his stationary box, a small box, and purple envelope.

“I can’t wwwait to open it!” Exclaimed an eager little Jungkook.
Now, Seokjin wanted to tell his son that he should eat his breakfast first, but at seeing how excited he was, he just couldn’t. “Well, if you’re going to open gifts now, let me go get your father so you can open ours as well, okay?” Seokjin kissed Jungkook’s forehead, inhaling his sweet honey scent, as we walked past him to enter his bedroom. His Alpha should have been done wrapping the gift by now…
“Oh, Namjoon!” Seokjin ran to his clumsy husbands side, beginning to untangle him from the web of tape he had tangled himself in. The Alpha was the smartest person he had ever met, able to recite any poem or solve the most complicated mathematical equations…but apparently he was a lost cause at everything else.
“Hi, sweetie! I’m uhm almost done wrapping this…I just got a little stuck.” The Alpha chuckled as his Omega just stared at him shaking his head and giggled, not at all surprised at the situation his Alpha found himself in. “Our son is opening his gift from Tae Tae right now, so let’s finish this up, my clumsy Alpha.”
Namjoon had managed to wrap two of the gifts pretty well, but there was still one left. So, Seokjin rolled out a new, large piece of wrapping paper and had Namjoon place the gift in the center. Carefully, they both wrapped it up. “Perfect! Now, let’s go see why our son is so quiet…”
When Namjoon and Seokjin walked out, they were shocked to see Jungkook on the floor, spread out like a starfish with his tongue out to the side and eyes closed shut.
A new stationary box, and birthday card, resting on top of his belly.
Seokjin turned to the side to give his Alpha a look, but Namjoon threw both of his hands up, laughing. “Hey! He got his silliness and flair for the dramatic side from you, my love.”
His Alpha had a point.
So, Seokjin walked closer to his pup and knelt down, poking him with his pointer finger. Then, he feigned a concerned and overly dramatic voice. “Bun? Bun? Are you okay? Talk to me, bun!” No response, except for a slight twitch of his lips. “Well, I think he’s a goner, Namjoon. That just means we’ll have to eat all of these banana pancakes by ourselves.” A quiet little giggle escaped Jungkook’s lips. “And…I guess that means we can keep these three gifts that we had gotten him, right?”
“Nnno! I’m alive! I’m alive!” Jungkook exclaimed, sitting up at lightning speed, and holding the box and card so they wouldn’t fall.
“Jin— he’s alive! Thank goodness, because those are way too many pancakes to eat by ourselves!” Namjoon played along, causing more giggles from their son.
“D-d-dad. P-papa. You guysss are ssso ssilly! I was j-j-just p-passed out frrom hhhow happy I was!”
“And why were you so happy, bun?” The family of three got up from the floor and headed to the table to finally begin their birthday breakfast celebration.
“B-because Tae Tae sent mmme a gift! And n-not just any gift! He sent mmme a new stationary b-b-box— with
Seokjin and Namjoon looked at each other. Well, now their Jungkookie would have a lot of stationary, since they had each gotten him a new stationary box as well.
“And hhhis letter was sssso nice! And silly! It sssaid top sssecret! But…I g-g-guess I can tell you ggguys since you are my dad and p-p-papa.” Jungkook paused, building up anticipation. “…….Tae Tae said I’m his b-b-best frrriend! I have a b-best fr-friend!” Jungkook had the biggest, brightest smile as he told them.
The couple looked at each other, tears in their eyes from how happy they were. Their son finally had a friend.
A best friend.
They spent the rest of the morning together, finishing their pancakes and opening the remaining gifts. Jungkook was jumping up and down all over the cottage from how happy he was at now having even more stationary boxes. And he almost “passed out” again from joy when he opened the wooden brief case with a variety of colored pencils, markers, crayons, and oil pastels. They ended Jungkook’s 9th birthday by watching Jungkook’s favorite movies— Monster’s Inc. and The Emperor’s New Groove and eating Seokjin’s homemade birthday carrot cake, his bun’s absolute favorite.
As Jungkook dozed off to sleep that night, Tae Tae’s letter underneath his pillow, he couldn’t help but smile. He finally had a friend— a best friend.
💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌

Taehyung was sprawled out on the floor of his bedroom, the 1,000 piece tiger puzzle Kookie had sent him scattered around him. He was rereading the letter for the 7th time that day, admiring all the details his best friends had included. Kookie had mentioned his Omega father was a baker, so they had sent over some chocolate chip cookies in their December letter/package. His parents had asked the kitchen staff to inspect them, just to be safe, before eating them, so he was patiently working on his puzzle while he waited. His best friend was so thoughtful! He had remembered Taehyung mentioning wanting a guitar a few months back, and that was exactly what his parents had gotten him! Except, he was completely shocked when his Alpha father said he would be in charge of his lessons! Apparently, he knew how to play the guitar AND the piano extremely well, but had stopped playing when he had to take over the throne. The Alpha father and son had spent the past few days playing together, and Taehyung had never felt closer to his father.
Just as he was about to get out his stationary box to begin writing his January letter to Kookie, where he would make sure to thank him for the super cool puzzle, his Omega father and Palace Worker Hoseok walked in with the cookies Kookie had sent on a plate and a glass of milk.
“Prince Taehyung, these cookies are DELICIOUS. The palace cooks said they are safe, and I tried one as well to verify, and I think you will love them. But please, don’t eat them all at once or your tunny will hurt!”
King Jimin then smiled at Hoseok who handed him the plate of cookies once he had sat down on the floor, soon excusing himself to leave the father and son alone.
“How have you been, my little tiger? I’ve been stuck in a meeting all day, so I though we could some cookies and milk together, if you don’t mind?”
“Of course not, father! I missed you a lot today, but I know your meetings are very important.” Taehyung then got up, moving closer to his father so that the puzzle wasn’t in the way.
“Ahh. This puzzle looks new…a gift from Kookie perhaps?” King Jimin teased. The Pen Pal Program he had created 2 years ago had accomplished what he had always wished for— Taehyung making a true, sincere friend. The Omega boy of the same age, Kookie, was -
Although gifts were obviously not required for the Pen Pal Program, Taehyung and “Kookie” had started sending each other a small gift for their birthday and Christmas.
And it seemed that Taehyung had been quite occupied with his.
“Kookie sent me this cool tiger puzzle! And it has a cool effect that makes it look real! Like the tiger is jumping out!” Taehyung was so excited talking about his gift that he was talking a mile a minute! “And he also sent me the cookies! The cookie tin had a little note that said he help his Omega papa bake them! Can I try one now? Please?”
King Jimin cooed at his son’s joy and eagerness. It was heartwarming seeing him so happy, thanks to Kookies, his “bestest friend in the whole world”. “Of course, my prince! I’ll get one as well!”
As soon as Jimin took the first bite of the warm cookie, he felt like he had been transported to when he was young pup at The Omega Orphanage. The cookie tasted exactly like the ones that Baker Andrea had made, with his and Jinnie’s help, for the children at the orphanage. He continued to eat it, a few tears escaping and rolling down his face.
“Father, are you okay?” A worried Taehyung asked. “Yes, Taehyung, I am. These cookies are so delicious that they brought tears to my eyes. Your best friend and his Omega father did a fantastic job baking these!”
“Really? I think they’re the most delicious cookies in the entire kingdom. Or the entire planet!”
Jimin remained on the floor, eating another cookie, as he watched his soon work on his new puzzle while talking on and on about his best friend, Kookie.
💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌

“D-dad! Do wwwee have any b-batteries?” Yelled out Jungkook, who was looking frantically throughout all the drawers in the cottage. He had just finished reading his Tae Tae’s letter and opened his birthday gift— a walkman CD player and 2 CDs! He wanted to listen to the music Tae Tae had sent him…now!
“Bun, slow down! What’s wrong?” Namjoon walked into the living room with a stack of papers he had to finish grading. He decided to help his son find whatever he was looking for before he flipped the house upside down. “What kind of batteries do you need?”
“I’m not sure…whatever kind this CD player needs!” Jungkook then held up a brand new purple Walkman in front of him. “Oh, bun. This one doesn’t need batteries. It has a battery inside and you charge it. If it’s new, it should be fully charged, so—“ And just like that, his son was out of the room and jumping onto his bed, inserting a CD into the walkman and putting the headphones on. Namjoon could have never guessed how hectic having a pre-teen would be! Seokjin was off delivering a birthday cake he had been hired to make, so it was just him and Jungkook for now. Namjoon decided to take a break from grading and make his husband’s favorite dinner— salmon and baked potatoes. He had worked so hard on the cake, and his Omega deserved to relax when he came back.
They had recently celebrated Jungkook’s 11th birthday and now that he had a small group of friends, he told them all about the amazing desserts his Omega father made. One of the children had told their parents and they had paid Seokjin to make a cake for their pup who was turning 3. His husband loved to bake, as it always reminded him of his mother, so Namjoon was glad he was able to share his talent with others. He had always dreamed of working as a baker and one day opening his own bakery, but after the complications he had had during his pregnancy, he had chosen to not go back to work and instead stay at home with their pup. Even when Jungkook was at school, Jin chose to stay home in case of an emergency. Namjoon understood his Omega’s worries, so he supported his decision. But he couldn’t help but wonder if now that Jungkook was getting older, if maybe he’d like to dedicate more time to baking and make his old dream a reality. The Alpha had recently been asked to relocate closer to the palace to teach at the university there, and it could be a great opportunity for Jin to start a baking business…but Jungkook was finally liking his school and making more friends. Namjoon would still mention possibly relocating one day to Jin, but for now, he realized it just wasn’t the right time…

“Prince Taehyung, you have mail.” As soon as Hoseok had said those five words, Taehyung practically threw his guitar to the floor. “Is it from Kookie? It has to be from Kookie, right Hoseok?” Taehyung ran up to him and took the letter and package, as gently as possible. Taehyung had no idea what could be in the box, and he was so excited to find out, but first he had to open Kookie’s letter— the thing he looked forward to the most each month. Taehyung read it once, twice…three times! His Kookie was so funny and he loved hearing all about his life. He wished him an amazing 12th birthday, and expressed how annoying it was that mail in December was so weird because he had to either send the package too soon before his birthday or much later in the month so then his gifts to him got there after his birthday. Taehyung made a mental note tell Kookie he didn’t mind, but to also ask his fathers about fixing the mailing service when he saw them at dinner later. He placed the letter in the green box where he kept all of his best friends’ letters and carefully starting unwrapping the gift Kookie had sent him. Once he took of the ribbon and removed the paper, he opened the box. Inside, at the very top, was a cute plushie of a red, heart shaped alien dressed as a tiger. It was very soft and as Taehyung hugged it, he swore it smelled like sweet honey. Kookie had a honey scent! It smelled like his best friend, and it smelled delicious! He decided he would place it on his bed, right next to his tiger, Tata, that he had since he was a tiny pup. Next, he pulled out a black t-shirt. It looked a bit faded, but it was extremely soft. When he took a closer look, he almost passed out! Because right there in the middle, in yellow letters, was the name of the band he had told Kookie about! He had started listening to a bunch of new music and he really liked this band! It sounded like they were screaming, but he loved how it sounded with the guitar and drums in the back. He had sent Kookie one of their CDs for his birthday last year and he liked them too! He had no idea how he had found a shirt with that band’s name, but Taehyung couldn’t wait to wear it! It was his most favorite gift…EVER!
And he had the best friend…ever! He couldn’t wait to tell Kookie how much he loved his gift in his next letter.
Chapter 3: Kookie? Tae Tae?
Notes: Jungkook is now 13 and him and his parents have moved closer to the palace. One day, while at school, he drops something dear to him, and someone picks it up…

“S-sorry!” Jungkook mumbled out. It had only been one month, but this new school was huge, and he kept getting lost and running into people. And dropping things.
“I’m sorry! I wasn’t looking where I was going! Let me help you pick those up!” A student responded. His voice sounded kind, but when Jungkook looked up, the boy looked confused. And upset.
And in the boy’s hands were some of the papers he had dropped…including the only piece of the last letter Tae Tae had sent him. He had been carrying it around in his notebook to give him so comfort, but now that would probably be taken away.

“Wait— why do you have this?” The boy angrily demanded.
“What do you mmmean?” Responded a confused Jungkook.
It was his letter, so why was this kid asking about it?
“How did you get this?” The boy stepped closer, clearly annoyed at him now.
Jungkook reached to grab Tae Tae’s letter from the boys’ hand, but he was a bit taller and he looked determined to not let him get it.
Great— he had only been at this school for a month and he already had a bully. A cute one. And this time, they had gotten one of his letters. Jungkook was so tired of this! Why did people have to be so mean? He wanted to push the kid back, and show him he couldn’t be mean to him just because. But his dad had gotten his dream job working at the university and his papa was planning on opening a bakery. And this was the best school in the area. So, he had to remain calm…
“P-please. Can you just give me mmmy letter b-back?” Jungkook calmly asked.
“Your letter?” Taehyung was so confused. How did this boy have a letter that he had sent Kookie? And why was it ripped up and covered in mud?
“Yes. It’s mmmine. My best friend sent it to mmme, so p-please give it back.” Jungkook was trying his best to remain calm, but this kid was really pushing his buttons. He just wanted to go to the yard and eat his lunch, maybe read some of his book, before his last classes.
Wait—
“Kookie?” The taller boy asked.
How did this boy know his Pen Pal nickname?
Oh…it was on the letter….
Suddenly, the boy now longer looked mad. In fact, he looked happy. Weird…
“Kookie! It’s me…Tae—“ The boy was abruptly interrupted by another boy who was trying to pull him away. “Come on, your royal highness. They have pizza for lunch today and it smells sooooo good!”
Once the boy realized that his “royal highness” was not budging, he stopped pulling him and walked back, standing in between the two confused looking boys.
“Uhm…Taehyung? Prince Taehyung? You there?” The boy kept on waving his hand in front of his friends face, but he was still frozen in place, just starting at the boy in front of him. “Tae— what’s wrong, dude?”
“Tae? As in,,“Tae Tae?” Jungkook whispered out.
There was no way…
Taehyung finally turned around and spoke to his friend. “Mingyu, I’ll catch up to you later, okay?” Mingyu gave the two boys one last look and shrugged, running off to get the pizza his stomach was begging him for.
Taehyung then stepped even closer to his best friend, Kookie, smiling wide and extending his arm to give him back the letter. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you in person, Kookie.”
Jungkook took the letter from Tae Tae’s hands, their fingers brushing for the first time. It felt nice. Really nice. He was so happy in that moment that he stepped right into his best friend’s arms and gave him a tight hug, feeling the other boy hug him back.
“Now, we have lots of catching up to do, especially since I haven’t gotten any of your letters for the past two months. But first, I heard there’s some really good pizza…” Tae Tae, or Taehyung, gave Jungkook back the rest of his papers and waited while het put them away in his backpack. Then, he walked them over to the lunch line, which was now super short since everyone else had gotten their lunch. But thankfully, there were 2 slices left, so he put them on the tray, walking over to pick up two salad bowls. He got extra carrots for his best friend, who he knew loved them. Lastly, he got them some lemonades and walked to one of the empty benches underneath the tree. Kookie had been quiet this entire time, a rosy blush dusting his cheeks. He wondered if he was as shocked as he was…and pleased.
“So….” Taehyung said first.
“Ssssso…” Replied Jungkook.
“Did you just start here? I swear I’ve never seen you before.”
“Y-yes. My Alpha father is the new hhhhead of the English d-d-department at the university here, so wwwwe moved.” Jungkook wanted to crawl underneath a rock and hide. He still stuttered, and most likely would for the rest of his life, and he was okay with that. Everyone had moments of disfluency once in a while— his old speech therapist had told him so. But he just had them more often, especially when he was nervous. And boy, was he nervous right now! He really hoped Tae Tae didn’t find him weird now that they had met in person.
Also, why did he smell so good? It made Jungkook feel like he had butterflies in his belly. But maybe it was just his nerves.
“That’s cool! I hope I can meet them one day now that you live nearby!” Taehyung looked down at his pizza, his smile slowly turning into a pout. “Kookie— is me being the prince the reason why you stopped sending me letters?” Taehyung asked, a sad look on his face.
What? What was Tae Tae talking about?
“W-what do you mean? You n-never told me you were the p-prince?”
“Yes, I did! In that letter you have in your notebook that fell out! Also, why is ripped and all dirty?”
Jungkook then opened up his backpack and took out the letter, the last thing he had received from his Tae Tae in months. “This is all I have of th-that letter! An old n-neighbor of ours found it in the middle of the road one d-day after a really bad sssstorm and they gave it to my p-papa one day when he went back.” Jungkook looked at the letter, tearing up from remembering getting only that piece of a letter one day. “I sent yyyou a letter with our new address, but I haven’t gotten any letter in mmmmonths! I f-f-figured you just didn’t want to be my ffffriend anymore.”
That’s all Jungkook had of that letter? The letter where Taehyung had thanked him for helping him make new friends. The letter where he, with his parents’ permission, had told Kookie his fathers were the Omega King and Alpha King of Borahae…and he was the Alpha prince? The letter where he had invited him and his fathers to the palace so that they could meet?
Suddenly, so many things made sense to Taehyung’s 13 year old brain! “Wait— did you use to live in Moon District? Where they have really bad rain storms?” Kookie just nodded.
“I remember my fathers saying their mail office had been destroyed during one of the storms! One of our mail rooms got severely damaged as well!”
This entire time, Taehyung had thought that Kookie had received his letter where he confessed he was the Alpha Prince and that he had been upset at him, choosing to ignore him from now on.
Jungkook, on the other hand, had made himself believe that Tae Tae had finally gotten tired of him, having made new and better friends.
Now that everything was in the clear, they both fell more at ease, realizing that they had both missed each other and their letter’s so much the past few months!
They ate their lunch, talking about so many things, like what classes and teachers Jungkook had!
“Hey Kookie…what’s your real name? You know mine is Taehyung, but I still don’t know yours…and you’re my best friend!” Kookie stared at Taehyung with big, bright eyes and giggled. He then stuck out his hand, “My name is Jungkook. It’s a p-pleasure to mmmeet you, Taehyung.”
Jungkook. What a pretty name, Taehyung thought.
Taehyung reached out to shake Jungkook’s hand and bowed, as he was taught to do as the future Alpha King of Borahae. “The pleasure is all mine, Jungkook. And as the Alpha Prince, please let me officially welcome you to the Crystal Snow District.” Except when Taehyung bent down to bow, Jungkook’s hand still in his, he somehow pulled him down, causing his best friend to fall over and land atop of him. They fell into the grass, surrounded by the tiger lillies in the garden, and giggled. As Jungkook rolled over to lay on his back, laying together side by side, Taehyung’s nose picked up a sweet yet subtle scent. Something oddly familiar. His nose had a mind of its own, until he stopped and found himself (and his nose) near Kookie’s
neck. Jungkook looked at him, big doe eyes, in complete shock. “T-Tae Tae…w-what are you doing?”, a rose cheeked Jungkook quietly whispered.
“Oh, I- I smelled something…something that smells really nice. But uhm…I guess it’s you. You have a nice honey scent!” The young prince blurted out, embarrassed he had just smelled his best friend!
His Tae Tae thought he smelled good? That made him smile!
Jungkook thought he would be honest and return the favor. “I like your scent too, Tae Tae! The yuzu scent smells fresh and yummy!”
Taehyung and Jungkook remained there, staring at each other blushing and giggling, until the bell rang and they had to get to their next class.
They made plans to meet at the same spot at the end of the day so that they could continue catching up.
As Jungkook walked to his next class, he couldn’t help but smile and let out a sigh of relief. Surviving his new school would no longer be a hassle, because he had met his best friend, Tae Tae. And deep down, in his heart, he knew this friendship would last a lifetime…
Chapter 4: 11 years later…
Notes: 11 years later, and Taehyung and Jungkook are all grown up. And still best friends…

“Has anyone seen Prince Taehyung? Omega King Jimin is looking everywhere for him! He has a lunch date with Omega Lily! Where is he?”
The palace workers giggled as they saw their fellow worker, Hoseok, run around looking for the 24 year old prince. Because while nobody knew where he may be…but they all knew who we was most definitely with…
🍋 🍯 🍋 🍯 🍋 🍯
Jungkook had just finished scenting his hoodie for Tae, and Taehyung’s own scent drenched hoodie and other scented clothes was neatly folded on top of his bed.
“So…are guys dating? Hooking up?”
Jungkook turned around so fast, he thought he got whiplash! “What? No! Why would you think th-that!” He yelped out.
“Because this— the scenting each other’s clothes— is what partners and mates do, Jungkook!” Jihyo replied. They had become very good friends at the elementary school they both worked at as speech therapists, and she was currently visiting him before his heat fully kicked in. But Jungkook was now questioning that friendship as she looked at him, smirking and her eyebrow raised.
Jungkook just sighed. “You don’t get it, Ji. We’re best friends. And our scents help each other relax.” Jungkook looked down at Taehyung’s hoodie, which smelled sooo good. “It’s not weird or anything….is it?”
Jihyo bit her lip, pondering. “Well…how long has this been going on? The scenting?”
“Since we were about 18?” Jungkook honestly responded
Jihyo looked at him, mouth hanging open. “18? Like when we get our first heat and rut? Dude….”
Jungkook just rolled his eyes. Scenting each others clothes wasn’t weird…but…he would never admit —to anyone!— what he had done the first time he had his heat and had Taehyung’s scented items…and what he still did during his heats…
“And he’s never had an Omega get mad?” Jihyo continued her questioning, walking around his room as if though trying to connect some invisible dots.
“No. Because he’s never dated anyone.”
At this point, it looked like his friend was about to have a heart attack. “WHAT? He’s the future ALPHA king of this land! And he’s so freaking hot! I know a bunch of Omegas who dream of getting knotted by him!”
Jungkook gave her a stern look, eyes an angry bright blue, and effectively shutting her up.
She lifted her hands up in defeat. “Okay, okay. But, I mean, have you never had an Alpha get mad at your “best friend” scenting all your things?” Jihyo was genuinely curious, because to her, Jungkook and Taehyung seemed way more than just best friends… those two seemed deeply smitten with each other and in L O V E.
“Nope. Because I also haven’t dated anyone.” Jungkook continued putting away his freshly Taehyung scented laundry, while Jihyo fell on his bed, kicking her feet in the air.
“Oh. My Gosh. You two are so…ugh!”
“What?” Jungkook was officially starting to get annoyed. He could feel his pre-heat start kicking in and as much as he liked Jihyo, her comments were starting to irritate him.
“Okay…last question and then I’ll leave. Promise. Why have neither of you ever dated anyone? Because I’ve seen how Alphas look at you. Also, dating an Alpha means that they could help your heats be less painful, you know…”
Just as he was thinking about how to answer that, he heard the door to his apartment open. And a few second later, Taehyung walked in, with Jungkook’s favorite drink — Yuzu peach lemonade— in hand.
“Oh! Jihyo—you’re still here?” To say that Taehyung looked disappointed was an understatement. The Alpha was practically pouting.
“I’m actually leaving right now! I just came to get some notes from Jungkook since he’ll be gone for some IEPs and parent conferences we have this week. I’ll leave you two alone so that you can continue getting ready for his heat…” Jihyo said the last part in a way that had Jungkook throwing a pair of socks her way. “Bye!”
As soon as Jihyo left, Taehyung stripped Jungkook’s bed of its sheets. He immediately went to get a new set, scenting them profusely before putting them on the bed. “There! Much better!” The Alpha then jumped onto his bed and started rolling around, dispersing more of his scent onto them.
Jungkook remained deep in thought, still thinking about what Jihyo had asked him. He was so distracted that he hadn’t paid attention to all the the food items that Taehyung was telling him he’d put in his fridge while he was in heat.
“Earth to Jungkook…you okay? What’s got you so distracted?” Taehyung looked at his best friend, head tilted to the side.
Jungkook was always honest…for the most part. So, he told Taehyung exactly what was on his mind.
“It’s something Jihyo said…she mentioned that having an Alpha to help me with my heat could help them be less painful…and she asked why I’ve never dated anyone…”
Taehyung didn’t mean to, but he let out a sound that was like a mix of a pained whimper and an angry growl.
“Is me scenting your things not enough? I can scent them again, if that’ll help!” Taehyung got up from Jungkook’s bed and started profusely scenting each pillow he could get his hands on.
“Tae,” The Alphas actions were making him giggle, so he walked over to him and hugged him so that he’d stop. “Don’t worry, Tae Tae. I’m not gonna go get some random Alpha right now.”
“Good.” Now that they were hugging, Taehyung took the opportunity to scent Jungkook… again. Jungkook basked in it as he lifted his wrists and rubbed them all over his arms, his neck, his back. He then used his nose to nuzzle Jungkook’s head. And his neck one more time…for good measure.
They stared at each each, smiling, feeling happy and calm in each other’s presence. It was such a peaceful moment, so perfect…until Taehyung’s cellular device started ringing.
And by the way he was looking at it, Jungkook knew exactly who it was.
“Oh, man. I’m gonna be in so much trouble…” Taehyung looked down at the phone, but put it back in the picket of his hoodie. “I don’t want to go! I already told my dad I’m not interested in anyone. Why can’t I just rule Borahae by myself?”
“Because…it’s your royal duty, Prince Taehyung.” Jungkook teased. “Actually, it’s good for you to leave now. I’m starting to get more cramps, so I’m gonna go take a bath.” Jungkook offered him a smile, assuring him it was okay to leave.
“But,” Taehyung started, not wanting to leave and face his Omega father for bailing on another lunch date with a “prospective” Omega.
“Nope! It’s your duty as the Alpha prince to find an Omega to marry and help you rule the Kingdom of Borahae when the time comes. Go, see if the Omega of your dreams is out there…” Jungkook smiled…but it didn’t reach his eyes.
Jungkook led Taehyung, practically pushed him, to the door. They gave each other one last hug, Taehyung placing a kiss on Jungkook’s forehead before they parted.
“Send me a message if you need anything, okay? Anything at all, and I’ll be here in a heartbeat.” Jungkook nodded, and just like that Taehyung walked out and he shut the door.
Jungkook rested his head on the door, taking deep, controlled breaths, trying to tame the desires that had been building up for the past few years.
And Taehyung?
He had his back on the door, eyes closed shut, as he kept breathing in Jungkook’s overwhelmingly sweet honey scent. A scent so delicious that it was getting harder and harder to not let his imagination run wild about his best friend…again.
🍋 🍯 🍋 🍯 🍋 🍯
“Taehyung! Son, where have you been this entire morning! Omega Lily has been waiting for you in the dining room for hours! Now, go change and do not leave that room until you have at least talked for 30 minutes!” King Jimin frantically yelled out as his son ran up the stairs to his bedroom.
He then plopped down on the nearest bench, tired from entertaining the sassy Omega in the dining room. It was a royal duty to have a lunch date with any Omega from a high ranking family who was interested in the Alpha Prince. And while he disliked it, and his son loathed it, it was something that had to be done. Deep down, he wished that at least one of the Omegas would interest Taehyung, but alas, he had turned every single one that he had been introduced in the past 4 years.
Alpha King Yoongi and he had repeatedly told their son that he could choose any Omega in the land, but the Alpha prince had just stared at them, speechless and wide eyed. And then walked away!
So now, King Jimin was tasked with the duty of continuing to find an Omega that Taehyung may be interested in so that they could get married and start preparing to rule the Kingdom of Borahae one day.
But it literally felt like Taehyung had rejected every single Omega in the entire kingdom!
He was so tired, and hungry for a snack. Then, as if though he had read his mind, Seokjin walked in with a basket full of freshly baked blueberry muffins.
Seokjin…his “Jinnie”… his best friend from long, long ago!
When Taehyung had come home one day when he was 13 yelling that his pen pal of the last 5 years, Kookie, now went to his school, Jimin could hardly believe it! So when Taehyung asked if Jungkook, Kookie’s real name, and his fathers could come to dinner, he happily obliged. “Kookie” was his son’s first friend, and the reason he got the courage to ignore his bullies and make new friends at school, so he wanted to personally thank the young man for all of his kindness. Except, he almost fainted when he saw a familiar face walk in to the palace. A face that no matter how many years had passed, he would never forget. When Seokjin saw him, they both ran to each other, hugging each other tightly and crying. It had been more than 2 decades since they had seen each other, but they had missed each other so dearly the entire time!
Their Alphas had then began to laugh since they too had known each other when they were younger. They had attended them same schools together, Namjoon having come to the schools in the Crystal Snow district on academic scholarships, but choosing to move back to the Moon District once he was done.
It seemed that Luna, their Moon Goddess, had wanted them all to meet once again, having brought together their sons as best friends.
Since that day 11 years ago, “Minnie” and “Jinnie” were inseparable once more. Except, not as much as Taehyung and Jungkook were, because those two were glued to the hip!
Now a days, Jin would come visit Jimin once a day, always bringing him some type of pastry from his shop. His best friend walked towards the bench he was sitting at and handed the tired Omega King a muffin. “Let me guess…Taehyung showed up late to a lunch date?”
Jimin took a big bite of the muffin and nodded.
“And he’s totally gonna reject that Omega, isn’t he?”
Once more, Jimin nodded and took a huge bite of the delicious treat.
“What are we gonna do about our not so little pups, Minnie? I’ve seen countless Alphas ask Jungkook out on a date, but he always says no! I don’t want to pressure him, but I don’t want him to be alone forever!” Jin shared.
With a mouth full of blueberry muffin, Jimin replied. “Taehyung’s 25th birthday is approaching and he’s rejected Omega after Omega. You would think he’s doing it on purpose and has someone in mind…”
Together, they sat in silence, chomping on their blueberry muffins as they contemplated how to help their adult children.
It was as if though they were dedicated to reject everyone, only spending time with one another!
…
Wait…
Seokjin and Jimin looked at each other, eyes wide.
Could it be?
Was the reason why Taehyung rejected all Omegas and Jungkook rejected all Alphas…because they had feelings…for each other?
“They’re in love with each other!” They yelled out at the same time.
“How were we so blind!” Jimin shouted.
“Oh my Luna! How did we not see this!” Seokjin cried out.
“You’re telling me! Taehyung literally comes home smelling like a pot of honey from how much he nuzzles Jungkook all the time. But he always says they’re just friends!” Jimin was literally pulling at his long, blonde hair as all the realizations hit him at once!
Seokjin then began laughing, sounding as if though he had gone mad! “Jungkook literally smells like a Yuzu tree whenever he leaves Taehyung’s side and he comes to visit. And he’s always drinking yuzu flavored drinks!’
“Same with Taehyung! Always requesting honey for his tea, his toast…even eating honey straight from the jar like Winnie the Pooh!”
“Jimin— what do we do? Our sons are obviously in love with each other! But these two knuckle heads don’t even seem to realize it!” Seokjin was now pacing in front of the Omega King, unable to sit still.
“Why haven’t they confessed?” Jimin wondered out loud.
And then it hit him…
His son was so, so much like him and his Alpha father.
“Oh, Jinnie. I- I think they’re scared! They were each other’s first friend. They’re each others best friend. If one of them confessed and the other didn’t feel the same, they’d be terrified if would ruin their friendship!”
It all made sense to Jimin now. Oh, his Taehyung must have been pining and scared this entire time!
“But— they both do feel the same way!”
“But they can’t see it!”
Seokjin sat back down, shoulders slumped and his head in his hands. “What do we do, Minnie?”
Chapter 5: Exactly one week later…
Notes: An Omega has been chosen for Prince Taehyung…and he cannot say no.
🍋 🍯 🍋 🍯 🍋 🍯
Taehyung was in literal agony. It had officially been one week without Jungkook, and he felt like he was going crazy. He slept with one of his heavily, honey scented pillows and wore one of his hoodies that Jungkook had scented last week. But it wasn’t enough. Taehyung missed Jungkook…his best friend.
This had been the longest heat Jungkook had ever had, and he was starting to get worried. His heat usually lasted 5 days, and then Taehyung would go over and take Jungkook his favorite takeout— chicken katsu— and help him tidy up his apartment. Then, they would sit down on his couch, cuddled up, and watch movies until Jungkook felt 100% better to go out.
But he hadn’t responded any of his texts for the past two days, and Taehyung was ready to climb in through his bedroom window.
The only thing that had stopped him was having seen Jungkook’s Omega father, Seokjin, leaving his own Omega fathers study last night. He had assured Taehyung that Jungkook was perfectly fine at the moment.
So despite feeling like a lifeless zombie without his Kookie, Taehyung made his way to the dining room for dinner. But once he got there, his Alpha father and Omega father were sitting down, waiting for him. Looking completely serious…and even a little upset.
“Taehyung, sit down, son.” The Alpha King requested.
Taehyung sat down to his left, right across from his Omega father, but King Jimin looked serious.
“It has come to my attention that you have still not picked an Omega to marry. Taehyung, as you know, you must choose an Omega before your 25th birthday.” Taehyung gulped, looking at his Omega father for help…but nothing.
“Fath—“ He was abruptly stopped.
“I am not done talking, Prince Taehyung.” Oh. His father, the Alpha King, was mad.
“Taehyung— since you have been unable to choose an Omega on your own after all these years, we have gone ahead and chosen a future Omega for you. Our decision is final and this arranged marriage will be happening. You will meet them tonight. No excuses.” Alpha King Yoongi sternly declared.
After all, it was exactly what his Omega —King Jimin— had asked him to say to their son.
“Let’s see if you can say no to this Omega, my little Alpha prince…” Omega King Jimin turned around, covering his mischievous smile and giggle, as his son stood appalled at his Alpha fathers’ declaration.
“Father! Please—“ The Alpha King suddenly stood up. “Our decision is final! You will stay here until we come get you and take you to meet them at the Omega King’s study. They will be arriving soon.” And with that, both Kings left the dining room, closing and locking the door they walked through. Taehyung got up, rushing to the other the others doors that remained open, but they were shut in his face, and locked. He ran to the window, thinking he could open them or break them if he must! But guards lined up along the outside, staring at him, letting him know that that was no longer an option.
Taehyung paced around the entire dining room, desperate to get out!
He couldn’t get married to some random Omega! He didn’t want to get married to anyone except…
No!
Taehyung had to find a way out!
He wanted nothing more than to run to Jungkook. He needed to let him now that he didn’t want to marry whatever Omega his parents had chosen.
That this whole time, he had rejected every single Omega because deep down…he knew.
The only Omega he would ever want to spend the rest of his days with was him— Jungkook.
Taehyung knew that as the future Alpha King of Borahae, he had a responsibility to uphold.
He had chosen the Omega he wanted to spend the rest of his days with a long, long time ago.
But he didn’t want to risk ruining their friendship if he didn’t feel the same!
Because Taehyung had fallen in love with the most compassionate, handsome, and funniest Omega he had ever met…he had fallen in love with his his best friend of 16 years…Jungkook.
For the past 6 years since he had realized he was in love with Jungkook, Taehyung had done his best to keep his feelings at bay, not wanting to destroy the beautiful friendship they had.
But now that he was being forced to marry a complete stranger, an Omega he didn’t know or want, he had to tell Jungkook! He needed to confess to him how he had felt this entire time!
He didn’t like the fact that that what he was about to do would hurt his parents, but he absolutely hated the mere thought of losing Jungkook! So, with a strength he had never used before, he pulled at the doors, tearing them off their hinges. The lock his fathers had placed on the door lay shattered on the floor. There were no guards inside, so he ran down hall, making it to the front door.
But just as he was about to open the doors to leave the palace and find Junkook, he smelled a subtle but sweet whiff of honey. And it wasn’t just any honey...it was Jungkook’s honey scent! He tuned into his senses and followed the scent, leading him to his Omega father’s study.
Taehyung didn’t even realize he was walking straight into the place where his fathers had said his future Omega would be waiting for him.
Before he knew it, he pushed the doors wide open.
And there, dressed in a white blouse and black pants, looking healthier than ever, was none other than Jungkook.
His Pen Pal.
His best friend.
The love of his life.
The Omega he had chosen a long time ago.
Chapter 6: Confessions
Notes: Finally, after years of being in love with each other, Taehyung and Jungkook confess to each other.
🍋 🍯 🍋 🍯 🍋 🍯
Taehyung ran in, immediately relieved to see Jungkook.
Jungkook hugged him tightly, placing a soft kiss on his cheek. Taehyung would have instantly melted on the spot if it weren’t for having seen that they were not alone.
In the room, sitting around a table, sat both his and Jungkook’s Alpha and Omega fathers. Mouths hanging wide open.
What were they all doing here?
“I told you my son was strong! He had to have ripped apart those dining room doors!” Alpha King Yoongi proudly declared.
The Omega fathers stood there smiling wide, clapping their hands in excitement.
And Jungkook’s Alpha father, Namjoon, stood next to the Omega fathers, shaking his head slow and mumbling, “You guys were right…but you guys are in trouble…”
Taehyung looked at Jungkook, and he appeared angry. Very angry. A kind of angry he hadn’t seen since someone had thrown a basketball at Taehyung’s face on purpose in 10th grade.
“You didn’t tell me you were going to terrify him into admitting his feelings for me! Look at him— he’s as white as a sheet! And look at his hands! They have cuts! He could have been badly hurt!” Jungkook, Taehyung’s sweet Kookie, was yelling at their parents. He was yelling at the Omega and Alpha King of Borahae…and they looked scared!
“What’s happening?” Taehyung was so lost, and he wanted to know why the love of his life was so upset.
“All of you, leave us alone. Now.”
The Alpha fathers huddled together, too scared to look Jungkook in the eye.
Omega King Jimin walked by, smiling and nodding his head. “Sweet, but sassy and mean when he needs to be. He will make a perfect Omega King!”
And lastly, Jungkook’s Omega father walked by, placing a kiss oh his son’s forehead. “I know you’re upset, bun. But look at the bright side. Everything is out on the table now. So don’t push it back down.”
And just like that, Taehyung and Jungkook were left alone in the Omega King’s study.
Suddenly, a lightbulb went on in Taehyung’s mind.
The Omega King’s study!
That was where his parents had said his future Omega, the one who he was arranged to be married with, would be!
This entire time…was Jungkook the Omega they had chosen for him?
Taehyung smiled, offering his hand to Jungkook, and leading him to sit on the couch in the room. When Jungkook sat next to him, Taehyung shook his head. “Nope! You’re too far away. After a week of not seeing you, I need you closer than that.” And just like that, he placed Jungkook on his lap, the Omega a blushing mess.
“I think we need to have a talk…Can I go first?”
Jungkook nodded, biting his lip as he stared right at Taehyung.
“Jungkook…I’m in love with you. I’ve been in LOVE with you since we were 18. I loved you growing up, as my best friend, in the most innocent way. But once we turned 18, I realized I loved you for real, for real. And as we got older…I realized I wanted you, too. And I’ve been a coward this entire time, too scared to tell you because I didn’t want to ruin our friendship. You were my first friend, and you’re my best friend. If you didn’t feel the same way and I ruined our friendship, I wouldn’t have known what to do…how to survive. But when my parents told me they had chosen an Omega for me this evening, I was going crazy. Because all I could think about how was you’re the only Omega I want. You’re the Omega I want to spend the rest of my life with, the Omega I want to kiss every day…” Taehyung caressed Jungkook’s face, the Omega leaning into his touch, “…the only Omega I want to taste…and knot and breed for as long I breathe.” Taehyung heard Jungkook’s breath hitch, and he swore he could feel his heart beating faster. “So, while I may realize our Omega fathers, with some help from our helpless Alpha fathers, might have just played the cruelest prank on me right now…I’m pretty thankful they did. Because I think that scare was what I needed to realize I couldn’t keep on pretending I’m not deeply and completely in love with you, my best friend.”
Jungkook continued staring at the Alpha in front of him— the only Alpha he had ever wanted to kiss. So, he set all the rage he had felt at their fathers for scaring Taehyung aside, and followed his heart. He grabbed Taehyung by the chin and pulled him closer, locking their lips and kissing him soft, slow, and sweet like he’d been dying to do for years.
After years of longing, Taehyung and Jungkook finally kissed each other.
And it felt like the best thing in the world.
It took Taehyung all his willpower to separate from those heavenly lips. “So…Jungkook…I need to know…would you like to be my Omega?” Jungkooked immediately yelled “Yes!’, nodding his head furiously. “And if you don’t get tired of me after a few months, would you do me the honor of becoming my Omega King, to one day help lead The Kingdom of Borahae?”
Jungkook gulped. “Alpha Prince Taehyung, it would be my honor to be your Omega and one day your Omega King.”
Before they knew it, both of their Alpha and Omega fathers barged in, cheering in excitement. Jungkook remained seated on Taehyung’s lap, kissing his Alpha, making up for all the years he had wanted to but couldn’t.
Just then, Hoseok and a few other palace workers walked by, observing the scene in the Omega King’s study. “Finally!” They all yelled out, smiling wide and joining in the celebration.
Little did they know that for years, everyone around them, except Taehyung and Jungkook themselves (and their parents!), could clearly see that what started off as a sweet childhood friendship between them had blossomed into much, much more a long time ago.
Chapter 7: 7 months later…a wedding!
Notes: Wedding Time!

It was the most beautiful, serene evening that either of them could have wished for. The sun was soon to set, the gentle breeze spreading the lovely scent of the flowers around them in the palace garden.
And it was all made better by the people gathered there with them in attendance— their parents, Hoseok, other kind palace workers, and Mingyu and Jihyo…who seemed to have been getting along very, very well.
Despite being a royal wedding, Taehyung’s fathers had kindly informed the kingdom that it would be a small wedding ceremony, but with a grand kingdom wide celebration to follow to celebrate the newly wedded husbands.
As Taehyung anxiously stood in front of the flower arch, he couldn’t help but think back to a younger image of an anxious Taehyung.
A small, anxious Tae that was too shy and scared to talk to anyone but his parents. A little Tae that would get made fun of by others for any little thing.
But now, he was no longer that shy, scared little boy. He had been lucky in finding the most amazingly kind friend who helped him find his voice.
And now, thanks to him, he was standing in front of the love of his life, confident and more ready than ever to declare the love he felt for him.
Once The Beatle’s “I Will” began playing, Taehyung knew it was time. He turned around, and Jungkook had never looked more beautiful than he did in that moment. Smiling wide, Seokjin’s arm intertwined with his on his left and Namjoon’s arm intertwined with the other on his right, he shined like the sun with how happy he looked.
Once he was by his side, Hoseok —their officiant— began the ceremony.
Towards the end, when it was time for their vows, they both took out two letters, laughing at how their great minds had thought alike.
Jungkook read his letters first— the first letter that Taehyung had ever sent him, followed by his latest letter to Taehyung.

Despite the tears flowing down his face, Taehyung read his letters next…

“My Luna! You two were so meant to be! I felt it since the moment I met a little 8 year old Jungkook! I can’t believe it!” Hoseok cried and wailed as the grooms and guests stared at him.
“Hoseok hyung— please, keep it together and continue!” Omega King Jimin shouted…and who was sobbing as well.
“Okay, okay. I’m good!” Hoseok took a deep breath. “With the power vested in me by Luna, our Moon Goddess, I now declare you both husbands, and the future Alpha and Omega kings of The Kingdom of Borahae! You may now kiss! But keep it PG you two, because I’ve seen you tw—” Jungkook and Taehyung practically crashed their faces together as they kissed in front of their guests!
Taehyung and Jungkook walked down the aisle to “All You Need is Love” and made their way to the dance floor.
“Aren’t you hungry or tired, my love?” Taehyung asked his husband.
Jungkook just smiled, hugging him close and beginning to sway to the music. “I’m too happy to be hungry or tired right now. I just want to dance with you, my Alpha husband.
“We can dance all you want, Kookie. Because I never want to let you go.”
For their first dance, Jungkook had chosen one of his favorite songs from one of the bands Taehyung had introduced to him when they were younger. It only seemed fitting…
🎶
Baby, I’m yours (baby, I’m yours)
And I’ll be yours (yours) until the stars fall from the sky
…
Yours (yours) until the poets run out of rhyme
In other words, until the end of time
I’m gonna stay right here, by your side
And do my best to keep you satisfied
Nothing in the world could drive me away
Every day, you’ll hear me say
Baby, I’m yours (baby, I’m yours)
…
