The brief thought that he could be meeting his soulmate runs through Jungkook’s brain, but he immediately pushes it out of his mind. He’s mistaken far too many short-of-breath-after-walking-up-one-too-many-flights-of-stairs points in his life for meeting his soulmate, but he’s never been proven right thus far, so he does his best to not immediately jump to that conclusion anymore.
See, the thing is that, hundreds of years prior, humans discovered that each person on the Earth has a soulmate. Someone cut from the same slice of the universe as them. The one person who is supposed to complete them. Some soulmates are platonic, some soulmates are romantic, and some soulmates are even familial.
Jungkook’s heard that romantic soulmates are the most common in the world, making up about sixty percent of all soulmates, and knows that the most common way for soulmates to stop having their heart race unnaturally is to be together as a couple.
But he really doesn’t want to get his hopes up.
Or: Hearts race when soulmates are in proximity to one another. Jungkook finds his soulmate when new accountant Min Yoongi starts at his office, but he just thinks that he's a little too addicted to coffee.

Jungkook could see the hurt flash through Jimin’s eyes, but he couldn't find it in himself to care. It was the truth, anyway. Jimin was a model. A successful one of that, which made it even harder to get rid of that bitter feeling in Jungkook's stomach.
Acting is Jungkook's thing.
He worked his ass off to be where he is, yet Jimin just walks in with his pretty face and everybody falls at his feet as usual.
