Summary:

Some remnants of Eddie and Volt's connection as one being remain, and turn out to be... problematic.

In my mind for a while, but a good fit for Kinktober day 2 :-D

Work Text:

The world had, relatively, stopped spinning, for Eddie. For so long, all he felt was the urge to keep up, to keep his bearings in a situation that just was too much, too soon, with too little. And, back then he had thought, too late.

But ever since the reset, he had found the world rather still. Some people would almost call it dull, but that wasn’t quite what he felt as he leaned lightly on his elbows on the bar, watching the various patrons enjoying themselves. Even Dorian was tapping his foot at the beat, despite his ever-stoic expression.

It was as if a different filter coloured his vision now – where he first would almost find his vision blurring just watching them, overwhelmed, watching Volt on the stage, faint panic at if he would be able to manage to be enough to supply him – he now just found himself observing, perhaps even enjoying himself a little.

Thus, his guard was down and had been for weeks now. Not that he really needed to be on guard, not anymore, he thought. A light smile curved the corners of his lips as he dried the umpteenth glass.

He was feeling relatively good, so he dismissed the tingle traveling up his spine, blooming into gentle warmth once it reached his chest. He wondered if he had made a mistake mixing his favourite drink. As he swirled the ice cube in his favourite drink, he frowned slightly as the sensation lingered, then repeated. It was odd – a heat in his wires lingering as it travelled up before cooling into nothing again. A familiar feeling of concern bubbled up as he thought of his faulty wire – was he still okay…?

Volt had really tried to be a good host tonight. But their live wire had had a little too few too many, courtesy of Eddie, and although they were being very reasonable and polite, their interest in Volt specifically this evening was very evident and badly restrained. What had started as a simple dance between them changed when Keyes’ music faded into a slower, heavy song.

Their hooded eyes met his just slightly illuminated, cautious and curious ones, and any hope of keeping his reason disappeared when soft lips met his, lithe fingers pulling him down by the collar of his shirt. Unfortunately for his ambitions to avoid preferential treatment towards their special guest, he gave in immediately, melting into the kiss in the darkened corner of the dancefloor.

Ever since he, them and Eddie had spent a very long morning together, he couldn’t quite find it in him to hold back much at all – this was evident when he only half managed to stifle the moan into live wire’s mouth as they deepened the kiss. He found himself backed against a wall, live wire’s knee nudging at his. He quirked an eyebrow and they just grinned, breathless, eyes twinkling.

He decided, for now, not to fight it whatsoever, as their lips moved to the side of his neck, his eyes fluttering shut as he tilted to give them more access.

Eddie was starting to get an idea of what was happening, as he tapped his foot, vaguely irritated, an involuntary dusting of pink tinting his cheeks. The sensation had become more insistent, feeling like touches whispering over his skin.

He had been worried about the power, the wires – but when he had searched for Volt on the dancefloor, he found him in a bit of a predicament from a distance away, all flushed and flustered with their beloved all up and against him.

Eddie had groaned and trudged back to the bar, figuring that at least one of them had to be present tonight.

He reflected on a past long gone – he preferred not to, but he remembered, now. When he and Volt first became separate beings – they had been connected, deeply so. Every touch, most feelings from Volt had leaked over into him involuntarily, a connection that had not quite been severed even after the reset. From his side, he had the control to not send anything over, but Volt, back then, barely even knew what or who he was. As Volt learned more about how he himself worked, the leakage had all but stopped – and Eddie had managed to block the rest of it. Thus, he hadn’t found it necessary to tell Volt – especially since he felt it made him look incompetent as his predecessor.

But now that he had relaxed, it seemed one wall too many had come tumbling down. He managed another five minutes at the bar before a stab of heat hit him in the gut and tingled up his spine. He didn't quite manage to muffle the surprised sound he made at that, Dorian raising his eyebrows from a bit away. Eddie scowled, faint pink brightening into red as he cleaned spilt water off the bar with more vigour than necessary.

“Live wire… We shouldn’t – I need to –“ Volt attempted, groaning as their hand slid underneath his shirt, up his chest. Their knee placement was still tantilising, and he gasped when he pressed up against it accidentally.

The lights flickered, just barely. Volt noticed, but figured it was just him, his disorganisation in this moment. But it wasn’t him.

“Fuck…” Eddie cursed under his breath. He had hesitated too long, and now he was in trouble, unfortunately.

He hadn't wanted to leave the bar in case he was needed, despite his predicament, but at this point his legs already felt too unstable to go onto the dancefloor and find Volt. Not just that…

Almost like some kind of divine punishment, the more he tried to focus on - not - feeling this cross-connection, the more he did. He tried to tense his legs to stop blood from rushing to the inevitable, but it had little effect. It was torture not to give in – the ghost of live wire’s touch pressing against the most sensitive part of him, through a direct connection between two bodies already so very similar. He hid his mouth behind the back of his hand and stifled a groan as his slacks grew uncomfortably tight. 'Luckily' for him, the club was rather dark, and the music loud. There were some stragglers at the bar, but it was relatively late in the evening, and only a fraction of the peak crowd was still present.

It didn’t make this much less of a total embarrassment, but at least the damage would be limited.

Wait, what damage? Eddie tapped his fingers on the bar. He could handle this. It wasn’t as if he was really being touched, he told himself, nodding. He would just have to ride it out, then scold Volt and their live wire later.

Just the thought of the two of them back with him reminded him of hurried kisses, warm and cold hands, overstimulation. He muttered another profanity as he twitched against strained fabric.

Volt was frowning slightly, but it was almost teasing. He tugged on live wire’s shirt, a few steps back, stumbling, until they reached the hidden parts of the stage, behind thick red curtains in a side area.

“You've put me in quite a predicament, darling” he murmured, almost purred, against swollen lips as they pressed up against him again, smiling deviously, smelling of whisky sour, a seductive mix of Eddie and... just them.

“Well... I'll just have to get you back to normal so you can go and do your thing again, right?” they grinned, meeting him in an open-mouthed kiss again.

He felt overstimulated, apologising when a light -zap- flickered the lights of the club outside, just the nearby ones. Live wire gasped a little as they took a light hit, but seemed pleased and shivered.

“Already flustered?” they teased. Volt was a sight to behold even in the almost-darkness, hair and irises glowing, chest heaving, lips swollen from hidden kisses. He managed a half-scoff, running a hand through static hair.

“Not that easily, live wire” he smiled back, retaining a sliver of composure.

... Which quickly faded when he heard the sound of knees hitting floorboards, and felt not-so-gentle hands deftly undo his belt. He gasped.

“Are you serious -“ he started, before he shuddered as those teasing lips nipped at the soft, pale skin on his inner thighs. “Live wire-“ he attempted, sentence melting into a moan, his hand flying up to cover his mouth as live wire grinned. Eddie would probably scold him for disappearing for half an hour, but through the haze of lust all he managed was to grip the table he was leaning on, allowing his mouth to fall open, involuntary noises tumbling out as impossible heat enveloped the most sensitive part of him.

Eddie gasped, folded over the bar, leaning heavily on his elbows as messy raven-crimson locks only barely served to hide his severely flustered expression.

“You okay, mate?” Dorian had come over, concerned, but Eddie waved a hand, not meeting his eyes.

“Nothing serious, Dorian” he choked out.

The Brit did not seem very convinced, but he sighed, walking back to the door, eyes moving back to the crowd as Eddie seemed okay for now.

Eddie was not okay.

Heat was coursing through him at this point, laser-focused on the most sensitive part of him. After managing to resist this for almost half an hour, he found himself on the edge of sanity.

Volt really had lost control it seemed, passing sensation directly through to him, and it was like his own cock was enveloped in live wire’s tortuous mouth, or at least he figured that was what they were up to.

Goosebumps rose on his arms as he ground his teeth to keep at least a semblance of composure. His hips wanted to press, rut against the bar for relief, but that would be a complete game over, and so he managed to resist.

But he couldn’t manage to do much of anything useful right now, aside from pretending to be drying already-dry glasses, and even that was risky. He tried to breathe slowly, hissing breaths as beads of sweat trickled down his back. Even the sensation of fabric over his chest was becoming unbearable, any movement resulting in friction on nipples peaking as he shuddered, ghost of a touch trailing up his chest.

Who was he kidding, he was a mess.

Live wire did something particularly devious with their tongue, licking a stripe up Volt's oversensitive length, and he choked back a moan as his hips stuttered. He wanted to close the club, to get away from his frozen spot at the bar, go to them and fucking punish them for being distracted and torturing him, but there were still too many people. With all these people here, no way he could –

The lights flared and then fizzed out before returning to normal again. This had happened a few times in the last few minutes. Volt managed to regain a semblance of thought, groaning as he pressed gently at live wire’s head.

“Live wire... Ah - s-stop – I think something's wrong with Eddie.”

They had been obviously distracted, but eyes widened a bit when they noticed the lights acting strangely as well. There was a static feeling in the air, and a scent of ozone – which wasn’t quite unusual when the three of them ended up in these types of situations, so they had figured it was Volt. They released Volt, who shivered at the sensation, length jumping up to rest against his stomach. The sight was lewd, yet beautiful. His expression was now serious despite his flushed cheeks.

“I need to go check” he stated. He moved to sit up, but live wire gently pressed him back down again, pressing lightly against his sternum.

“It’s easier for me to hide what we were doing. At least my clothes are still mostly on” They said, blushing. Volt couldn’t help a chuckle. “I’ll go check. It’s only a bit of flickering so it’s probably nothing serious, right?”

Volt bit his lip, but, after a long moment of thought, acquiesced.

“Come get me if it’s serious, please.”

He hated not being able to go straight to Eddie, but he would be a bit too much of a public attraction going into the crowd like this. Live wire kissed him one more time, smiling encouragingly before straightening out their clothes and hair.

"I promise." They breathed in deeply, collected composure despite the burning heat in their lower stomach, and headed back into the fray.

After watching them leave, Volt’s hand trailed down his chest and stomach, wrapping around his length, mind falling back into that hazy place again as his other hand trailed back up his chest, seeking a mimicry of live wire’s touch as he opted to take care of himself so he could get back quickly.

Eddie, at this point, was close to hyperventilating when live wire popped out of the audience, eyes concerned but cheeks pink, lips swollen.

Internally, despite drinking in the sight, he panicked for a moment, but he could manage since the tortuous touches had stopped for now.

And live wire was here and Volt wasn’t - so this final exam in public composure would come to an end now, right?

Then the stroking feeling continued, heat bubbling up his body, and his hand came down on the bar with a slam, staring hard at the patterns in the wood.

Murmurs erupted around him as he just attempted not to come undone, steeling his jaw as he closed his eyes.

“Eddie…!” live wire called out, having made their way to right in front of him across the bar, grabbing his head, cradling his scowling face. He groaned, but forced himself to meet their eyes.

“Hi there, live wire...?” he attempted. He was met with an unconvinced frown.

“What’s going on?”

“Nothing much, aside from managing the crowd in lieu of –“ he started, before swallowing the rest of the words.

Live wire’s cheeks flared.

“You knew? It was quiet and –“

“You don’t need to explain yourself, you can do whatever - “ he started before he was hit with the feeling of Volt’s hand around him, gasping. “Fuck. Never mind. Just – I’m just tired.”

Eddie’s hair was tousled, his pupils blown, face flushed. Live wire swallowed thickly, something was definitely going on. His breathing was quickened as he struggled with words.

“You’re lying, why?” they asked quietly, curiously, but sounding a little hurt, which made his heart drop. Eddie, softening a bit, started a sentence and then stopped, tapping his fingers on the bar, lips pressed into a line as he tensed his thighs again.

If this kept going, he would make a mess of himself. He didn’t even trust his legs to get him to the back room at this point, and he didn’t want anyone to see.

He gave in to their stare and leaned forward.

Quietly, not meeting their eyes, he began a shitty explanation.

“Between me and Volt, there are some… crossed wires. I never thought I needed to fix it or tell him, because he never really sent much signal my way.”

“Okay..?” they replied, not sure where he was going with this, raising their eyebrows. He groaned, having hoped that they would get the implication immediately.

A bit away, Volt leaned his head back, huffing breaths as he fucked into his hand, slickened from live wire’s previous ministrations.

Volt quickened the pace and Eddie held a shuddering breath, closing his eyes for a moment, furrowing his lightning-bolt shaped eyebrows to focus.

“What you and he were doing, and what he is doing now is sending a lot of signals my way.” he added through gritted teeth.

Live wire pondered this for a moment. Then their eyes widened in shock.

“What?! Oh my god, Eddie- I need to go stop him“ they gasped, before he acted quickly, leaning over the bar to grab their wrist, shushing them with a panicked gaze.

“Why not just tell everyone here? ” he whispered urgently. The action pressed his hips up against the bar.

The sound he groaned out was barely audible through the music but obscene. Heat pooled in live wire’s stomach despite poor Eddie’s predicament.

“Please don’t leave, not now.” he added, almost pleaded, vaguely desperate though he tried to hide it. The scent of ozone, so close to Eddie, was heavy.

Live wire squeezed their thighs together involuntarily, despite feeling a bit guilty about doing so.

A few breaths shuddered out of Eddie as they pondered what to do to help their suffering partner.

“Amp, I’m a fucking mess – “ he groaned as a familiar tingle began in his lower stomach and his eyes widened slightly. “Fuck, fuck, I can’t, not here –“ he choked, eyes closing tight as his legs shook.

Live wire moved quickly, grabbing his shirt and tugging him close, pressing their mouths together urgently. Others at the bar blushed and quickly moved away, live wire noticed from the corners of their eyes. Mission complete.

Eddison moaned into their mouth, arms he was leaning on trembling as the knot tightened, mind growing hazy.

“Fuck, I’m going to – why is Volt still –“ he whispered, before another groan rolled off his tongue and was swiftly silenced by the kiss as they felt him tremble against them.

He needed air, and leaned their foreheads together, gasping, eyes shut tight in a focused expression.

“Live wire, I can’t - not here-“

“They’re looking away” they murmured. “I’ve got you”

He didn’t look convinced.

So live wire pulled him close again, and swept their tongue into his mouth, and he melted into the kiss, right as Volt’s hand tightened, his muscles tensed and he climaxed, whispering out Eddie and live wire’s names as he threw back his head, eyes closed shut.

Fuckfuckfuck-“ Eddie whispered before he moaned against their mouth as Volt's high hit him, pulling his loose wires and making him come undone. White heat flashed through him and he pressed into the bar edge, managing to delay the signal for just a second, but unable to stop it and he climaxed - he would have cried out if the sound wasn’t swallowed by gentle but insistent lips, catching him as he fell. The kiss grew heated and unorganised as his body shook, eyes rolling back behind tightly closed eyelids. A light in the back room shattered, the gentle sound of falling glass barely audible.

Despite the situation, live wire almost came undone at the sight.

The kiss grew languid, and it was as if he could only now actually hear the sound around him properly again, his body feeling more like his again as the signal from Volt’s side halted.

Their lips parted with a pop and live wire pet his hair, looking to meet his eyes.

“Are you okay?” they whisper-asked. Eddie, looking positively undone, cheeks flushed and hair mussed, managed an incredulous laugh.

“Could be better, could be worse”

He leaned on the bar, sighing deeply, a bit shakily.

“But I need a break, and uh…” his ears turned red alongside his face now. “And a cleanup. Can you get Volt’s ass back in line and watch the bar for me while I do so?”

Live wire grinned.

“Sure, I can do that” they smiled. He rolled his eyes.

“Get to it, then” he chided, but there was no heat there. Live wire stood up, legs a bit wobbly which made him smile a little.

"Don't tell Volt, yet. I'll... find a way."

He would really have to talk to Volt about this. But.. later, he thought, as concerned silver eyes met his from a while a way, warmth blooming in his chest as his tall other half weaved through the crowd towards them.
