Work Text:

“Come on! It won’t be bright out all day!” Called the familiar voice of the most annoying kid Dusekkar knew.

Light grey hair and almost blinding red eyes met him when he finally stepped out of his study, a pout on the others lips. “What took you so long, dude? You got something in there you’re tryna hide?”

Dusekkar pushed 1x away when he tried to sneak a look into the room, moving frantically to look past him. “No! Of course not, do you even know me??” He pushed past 1x, closing the door behind him as he went.

1x, the stubborn (and stupid) apprentice and son of the great Telamon.. Was pestering him to go play in the roblox gardens. He’s been at this the whole week he and Telamon have been here, apparently his mentor doesn’t have gardens or flowers and he wants to see some.

It was stupid, but he couldn’t blame 1x. The variety of colors and species in the roblox gardens were unmatched, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. For anyone but him, at least. Dusekkar lived here! He studied in the gardens often! It got boring after a while, but as he continues studying plant magic, he can't help but find even more beauty in the garden. Flowers held minimal magic, that makes them easy to grow for beginners, but the amount in roblox’s garden?

“Stop standing there and come on!!” 1x drawled, pulling him away from the door and towards the long spiral staircase that led to the main hallways. 1x always complained about the journey up and down the stairs. It was funny, he didn’t even blink at it, since he could float and teleport up and down all day.

He startled when he heard the clinking of hooves on the wooden stairs, and saw 1x bounding down the staircase, skipping steps with every jump. Of course, the idiot. Dusekkar went ahead and started down the stairs as well. He would usually teleport, but if 1x was skipping steps, he wanted to be there to make sure he didn’t fall.

And there was the undeniable scream of 1x falling down the stairs. He called it.

Dusekkar raised his staff and focused in on where he heard the fall. He felt 1x struggling before he realised Dusekkar was keeping him from falling more. He could also hear 1x yelling curses at the stairs. Expected.

“Immature, honestly.” Dusekkar floated down to 1x, hiding a smirk. He just barely held in a laugh when he saw what weird position 1x had ended up in. arms splayed out, legs flailing about, and his crown was probably already at the bottom of the stairs. It was hilarious seeing someone so prideful like 1x in a humiliating pose like that!

“PUT ME DOWN ALREADY!!!” 1x screeched, face red from embarrassment, almost breaking Dusekkar's focus with all his squirming.

“I might just drop you at this point.” Dusekkar deadpanned, slowly lowering 1x onto the stairs. 1x stood almost immediately, catching himself just before falling again. Dusekkar would’ve straight up laughed at him if he fell again.

1x now took his time descending the stone stairs, hand brushing the wall as he went. “Why are you in this tower anyway? There must be more accessible rooms in Roblox’s palace somewhere” 1x sighed, pausing to glare at Dusekkar before continuing down.

“It is accessible, you’re just whiny. I chose it because Roblox said it was high in magic, perfect for my studies, plus, it has an offshoot leading to the library.” Dusekkar explained cheerfully. He loved the library, the size was monumental, the books stacked high on the shelves held knowledge of all kinds, far and wide. He’d say he spent more time in the library than his study, and that was hard to beat.

It was also where he, coincidentally, met his first (and only) friend, 1x. He still wondered why 1x was in the library that late anyway, and why he decided to make him jump out of his skin. He didn’t think about that day often, barely two weeks after he first arrived. 1x was just.. Part of his life now. A core essential for keeping him humble, or, at least that's what 1x says. Hypocritical, honestly.

It was when they reached the bottom of the stairs and opened the engraved wooden door with small swirls outlining it that 1x spoke up again. “Why don’t you use your magic or whatever to make those teleportation pads like in Major Robloxia?” 1x seemed to light up at the idea, like he just thought of something revolutionary.

“No, that wouldn’t work.” Dusekkar replied as they walked through the empty halls of Roblox’s palace. He always hated how barren it was, the main rooms had stained glass and banners and paintings, why couldn’t the hallways?

“Why not?? You’re the apprentice of the literal god of robloxia, you have enough resources to make one!” 1x made wild motions with his arms, almost hitting a kitchen hand passing by. Dusekkar made sure to apologise for him.

“Sure, we have the resources, but it uses a lot of magic to keep it stable and working correctly. It would be stupid to use one for a simple up and down journey instead of stairs. I’d rather it be useful and actually used by the public than just a spoiled apprentice, 1x.” Dusekkar explained further, ignoring 1x’s glare at the last part. It simply wouldn’t be necessary, he was the one using it most often and he had no issue taking the stairs.

“Point taken, but it was a little rude.” Dusekkar rolled his eyes, 1x could handle it. They finally made it to the gate leading outside, and Dusekkar could already smell the abundance of flowers blooming. 1x lit up once more, rushing to push open the door and run out into the dirt path.

Dusekkar swears that 1x acts like a child sometimes.

The sun shone brightly in his eyes when he finally followed, but he was quick to spot the light grey and green figure gawking at the flowers. The feeling of dirt crumbling under his hooves was uncomfortable, but he forgot about that quickly when he saw 1x hop over the fence keeping the flowers safe from trampling feet.

The IDIOT!

Dusekkar huffed as he made it to the gate, preparing to scold 1x for destroying the flowers behind the gate. That was interrupted by 1x pulling Dusekkar into the fenced off area! Was he crazy???

“1X!! We are NOT supposed to be on this side of the fence!” Dusekkar whisper-yelled, pushing off the ground and floating a few inches above the flowers before he could trample any. He hoped no one saw them, he did not want to get yelled at right now.

He saw the small trail of squashed flowers and internally groaned. He could already feel the headache coming on.

“Oh boo hoo, it's just a couple of flowers! I wanna see them up close! You know the name of some, right?” 1x exclaimed, taking his hand and leading him further into the small field. “ Yeah, well, as you put it, this is literally GODS garden! These are the flowers of literal GOD!!” Dusekkar explained, shaking 1x aggressively until he got the message.

“You can grow them back after we’re done. It’s not a crime if we’re not caught!” 1x smiled like an idiot once Dusekkar stopped shaking him, acting like it was that simple. Some part of him wanted to believe him, to follow him blindly. He didn’t know why, this guy was the most untrustworthy person alive!

“That is an insane thing to say, let alone live by.” Dusekkar sighed, pushing 1x away and inadvertently causing him to fall into the flowers. Crushing even more. Dusekkar would’ve punched something, preferably 1x, if he was any other person. Fortunately for 1x, he wasn’t.

1x took the opportunity to grab Dusekkar's robes and pull him down into the bright yellow flowers as well, his pumpkin nearly bashing 1x on the head. Dusekkar stumbled for a moment before lifting himself on his elbows and glaring daggers at 1x.

“What was that for you-” Dusekkar paused at the happy expression on the other's face, eyes squeezed closed and a laugh escaping his upturned lips. He strictly ignored the fact that his flames grew hotter.
Dusekkar sighed once more and flipped over onto his back, squinting at the harsh sunlight now pointed directly at his face. You would think that having your eyeballs (and well, whole head) replaced with fire would make it easier to look at bright lights..

“Okay, okay. I give up. I'll regrow the flowers before we leave. Then you’ll never step foot onto these flowers again, okay?” Dusekkar grinned, either they get in trouble now and 1x never gets to go to the garden again, or they don’t, but 1x can’t play in the flowers- “Yep! Sounds great! I'll never step on these flowers again. Starting tomorrow, that is.”

“ Wha- Huh? You weren’t supposed to agree that quickly! At least think about it! My perfect plan… ruined.” Dusekkar befuddled, mumbling the last part before sitting up and looking out into the bright flowers. They were a mix of many species, daffodils, petunias, lantanas, it was beautiful! A bit further out it faded into an orange, and then red, then it was cut off by fence and the path that led to one of the gates inside.

The middle of the circle was occupied by a marbled gazebo, pillars holding ornate designs and motifs. Dusekkar often sat in it when studying out here in the garden, it was a nice place, shaded too.

1x sat up next to him, plucking a daffodil from the ground beneath him, twisting the stem in between his fingers. That gave Dusekkar a much nicer idea, all the flowers had pretty long stems.. They could probably be woven together..

Dusekkar looked out into the flowers, plucking a few more pristine flowers from around them, in which he carefully wove the green stems together, making small, perfect knots with them. It was hard, dealing with something so small and precise, but he continued, fixing mistakes until perfection.

He held his yellow and orange flower crown before him, smiling brightly. He knew what he was going to use it for already, it was planned from the start. A brief glance over told him that 1x wasn’t even paying attention, threading this hands through the grass.

“1x! Look!” He bumped his arm into the others back, successfully pulling 1x’s attention to him and practically shoved the flower crown into his face.

1x took a moment to look it over, then snorted, a small smile coming to his face.

“This is stupid” despite his words, he snatched it up and delicately set it on top of his hair. The other seemed to hesitate for another moment before opening his mouth to speak.

“How do you make one?”
