Rule 1: Always do good.
Rule 2: If someone tries to stop you from doing good, defeat them. Peacefully.
Rule 3: If the weight of noble deeds starts getting you down, find a companion. You can never go wrong with a young blonde.
Rule 4: In the case of the current companion's exit, look for another one.
Rule 5: Don't establish a closer physical contact with them. A proper hero slash do-gooder does no such things.
Rule 6: Don't communicate with evil beings!
