@evil-of-my-evil
May 18, 2023
So I was scrolling the instagram of a bookstore I follow from when I used to live in PA, and it turns out the owner's actually the great-grandaughter of Grace dpdl (the real one)? And she knows Daniel Molloy?? Her store was a publicity tour stop for his previous two books??? WHAT a mindfuck that must be.

Chapter 1: reblogged from @evil-of-my-evil

Notes:

The plain text of chapters one and two are in chapters three and four, respectively.

boggspawns wishdishes evil-of-my-evil So I was scrolling the instagram of a bookstore I follow from when I used to live in PA, and it turns out the owner's actually the great-grandaughter of Grace dpdl (the real one)? And she knows Daniel Molloy?? Her store was a publicity tour stop for his previous two books??? WHAT a mindfuck that must be. anyways iwtv and a ton of vampire books are half off on her store's online shop through the weekend, absolute legend, so if you've been holding off on buying a copy, why not do it now? kuchlcastle ABC also has a ton of queer and Black fiction and nonfiction. Especially if you're interested in the historical and cultural background that Molloy was drawing on with New Orleans, Storyville, and queerness in the early 1900s, ABC's online store has literally all the books I recc'ed in this post. There's a reason Molloy went to ABC to promote his nonfiction books - this place is legit. And Claire Williams, the owner, is a big ally. Let's support a Black woman independent business owner guys! les-miserablist Apologies to my Les Mis followers getting blasted with historical vampires right now (not that you wouldn't be into that) but this bookstore is literally called the ABC, and that is an opportunity too good for me or you to pass up. whichwhisk666 From ABC's Facebook page (May 27th): When I made a funny little video about my great-grandmother, I never expected the response I got. The support and interest we've received from strangers around the country absolutely blew our little store away. In this day and age it means more than you know when people like you decide to support an independent bookstore. No matter my personal relationship to IWTV, I am so grateful that such grace has appeared in our lives at the hands of strangers who loved this book. It means more than I can say. On behalf of all of us at the ABC, thank you. (And to whoever ordered 38 (?!) copies of Victor Hugo's works, apologies for the backlog! Half of the books have been shipped already, and the rest should be shipped by next Wednesday, as soon as the next batch comes in. Thank you for your patience.) #bookstore#ref #iwtv
