Chapter Text
If anyone asked Yoongi he’d say that he’s a tit man first and an abs man second. Which is fortunate because his husband has fantastic pecs and sometimes even better abs. It’s not the only reason he likes his husband, there’s probably more than 1,000 reasons he loves Jungkook, but his nice pecs and abs are definitely a bonus.
He however makes sure to appreciate all of Jungkook’s body. Like right now how he’s face down on their bed, long hair fanning out over their charcoal pillowcases, back arching, and ass up as Yoongi tightly grips one hip and drills into his hole. He’s gorgeous like this with his firm ass and narrow waist and back that tapers into broad muscular shoulders.
Shoulders that have just gone tense and still.
“What’s wrong, baby?” Yoongi stops immediately, a hand bracing on the bed, his dick buried to the hilt in Jungkook’s ass.
“The doorbell?” Jungkook says. Or at least that’s what Yoongi thinks he says because it’s horribly muffled into the pillow.
“What?” Yoongi pulls out which causes Jungkook to let out a filthy moan. And he wants to dive right back in and provide for Jungkook every carnal pleasure he could think of but he should probably make sure that nobody was at their door. “Maybe you misheard?” He says hopefully.
“Mmm,” Jungkook gets his hands on the bed and pushes himself up slightly so that his face is no longer pushed into the pillow. “No, I swear I heard it.”
“Where’s my phone?” Yoongi looks to the bedside table where it should be. It’s not there. Nor is Jungkook’s on the other one.
Right. Last night. They’d started things in the living room and both their pants are definitely somewhere between the living room and the bedroom. Presumably their phones are somewhere in that trail of clothing as well.
“Not here.” Jungkook groans then flops back onto the mattress. “I don’t really care, whatever it is can wait. I want you to make me come so hard I see stars.”
How can Yoongi argue with that?
Expertly Yoongi manhandles Jungkook back into the position he wants. He lines up his dick, starts to push in and then the doorbell rings.
It rings again.
It rings several more times in quick succession.
“Ok, I heard it that time.” With a sigh Yoongi pulls back out.
For fuck’s sake, this is his last day off for the next few months. Tomorrow promotions are starting for his comeback and he and Jungkook had purposely scheduled a day off together so they could do shit like wake up and have filthy morning sex and then lounge around their apartment and be domestic. Today is supposed to be relaxing. This is not relaxing. It’s not even 10AM yet.
Jungkook lets out a frustrated yell into the pillow.
“I hear you, baby. Just stay here and I’ll go find our phones. If someone hasn’t said they’re coming over then I’ll just call the cops on whoever’s out there.”
He thinks he hears Jungkook mutter an ok into the pillow.
As Yoongi gets up he leans over and gives Jungkook a kiss on his shoulder since his face is still buried in the pillow. He grabs underwear from the drawer first. It’s kind of a lost cause because despite everything he’s still painfully hard and, well, his dick is on the big side. The underwear hide nothing. And to get everything to fit comfortably he has to tuck his dick into the waistband so it’s sticking out.
He’s about to head into the closet to find some pants when the sound of someone keying in the door code sounds through the apartment. Eyes widening Yoongi grabs the first clothes that he can and starts hurrying towards their front door. There are only a handful of people that know their door code. This probably means that something has happened. Fuck why did they forget their phones in the other room last night?
In his hurry Yoongi nearly trips as he pulls on the athletic pants he’d grabbed. Thankfully they’re his and not Jungkooks so they’re not instantly falling off. He manages to get the shirt on as he hits the hallway and then he’s turning the corner towards their front door just as it swings open to reveal Yijeong.
“Are you ok?” Yijeong asks as he steps into the apartment and lets the door fall shut behind himself.
“Yah?” Yoongi just raises an eyebrow. Like why would he not be. He does take a moment to look Yijeong over. Physically he looks fine although his hair is a bit wild, almost like he’d been running his fingers through it a lot.
“Good.” Yijeong lets out a little sigh of relief. “And Jungkook?”
“He’s also fine?”
Yijeong nods his head. “Also good. But seriously, what the fuck Yoongi! Both of you didn’t answer your phones and we were all so worried! What were you even-” Yijeong had started looking him over as he started asking the last part but when his eyes land on Yoongi’s hip he stops talking immediately and his face turns bright red.
Yoongi looks down and realises 2 things.
- He’d grabbed a crop top somehow. It’s probably Jungkook’s given how big it is on him and the fact that Yoongi doesn’t wear crop tops. He hadn’t even noticed since it’s Jungkook’s and it falls a little lower on him, almost to his waist.
- The head of his dick is poking up from the waistband of his underwear still because his athletic pants had slid down. This wouldn’t be so much of an issue if he hadn’t accidentally grabbed a crop top.
Fuck.
Hastily Yoongi pulls the pants up and covers his dick. It doesn’t really help because he realises that the outline of everything is still incredibly visible. “I’m so sorry” He holds a hand over his dick in a futile attempt to hide anything. “I was busy when you showed up and then got dressed in a hurry.”
“I…” Yijeong briefly manages to make eye contact before his face somehow turns a little redder and he has to look away. “I should go. Let you get back to that.”
“Yah, probably.” Yoongi regrets that it came out a little mean.
“Ok. Yah. I’ll…” Yijeong reaches for the door handle but then stops. “Wait, I can’t leave. Fuck. You need to get your phone and tell Sejin you and Jungkook are ok before he has a stroke.”
Since he’ll take anything to get out of this embarrassing situation Yoongi hurries towards the living room to find his phone, picking up discarded clothing along the way. “Ok, but you still haven’t told me what happened?” He manages to find some pants and starts rummaging in the pockets, but no phone.
“Ok so…” Yijeong lets out a sigh. “I think I have to just show you because honestly I’m still having trouble believing it myself.”
Pausing his search, Yoongi glances back at Yijeong to get a reading off of him. He looks some terrible combination of exhausted while also strung out and maybe a little sad. It’s kind of how Yijeong looked when he found out History was disbanding. It makes Yoongi’s heart clench painfully.
“Ok then, can you show-” Suddenly Yoongi hears a phone buzzing from the vicinity of the couch. He moves a throw pillow and then jams his hand down the side of the couch and pulls out his own phone. It has 4% battery and Sejin is calling him. “Sorry, I should probably take this.”
Yijeong just nods and sits down on the couch.
Yoongi sits beside him and answers the phone. “Hey, sorry-”
“Are you ok?” Sejin doesn’t even let him finish, just cuts him off.
“Yah? Why is everyone so worried about us? Jungkook and I just took a day off to relax. You’re all acting like someone died.” His face paled slightly and he looked over to Yijeong with worry. “Nobody died, right?”
Yijeong shakes his head no at the same time Sejin says “No, nobody died. You haven’t been online today though?”
“Jungkook and I forgot our phones in the other room last night and we hadn’t gotten around to finding them yet today. So no, I haven’t looked at anything yet.”
As he’s saying this Yijeong has grabbed the laptop off the coffee table and is bringing up Dispatch’s website. Yoongi grimaces. Well if Dispatch is involved then this is probably something messy.
There’s a defeated sounding sigh through the phone, barely audible yet still fills Yoongi with some dread. “Well, I’m not sure how to break it to you but…”
Yoongi doesn’t hear the rest of what Sejin says because his gaze has finally landed on the title of the Dispatch article
AGUST D IS MARRIED TO A MAN AND IS CHEATING ON HIS HUSBAND WITH KOREA’S SWEETHEART
“I… I’ll call you back.” Yoongi says weakly into the phone before hanging up and dropping it on the couch beside himself. Gently he takes the laptop from Yijeong and starts reading the article.
Rapper/producer Agust D (real name Min Yoongi) also sometimes known as SUGA has been living a double life for years. In recent years Dispatch had heard rumour that Min Yoongi secretly got married to a man in Australia in 2022. The identity of the husband had remained shrouded in mystery until earlier this year when we found out some reliable insider information.
August D met EL CAPTIXN (real name Jang Yijeong, formerly of the group History which disbanded in 2016) around 2015. They’ve been “friends” ever since then, working together under the label BIG HIT until 2018 when EL CAPITXN formed the production company VENDORS. Both musicians now split their time working between the 2 companies. It’s rumoured their romantic relationship started sometime in 2016 before EL CAPITXN began his mandatory military service.
Jeon Jungkook came onto the music scene in 2013 when he debuted with the 5 member group CONST311ATION-
Yoongi doesn’t finish reading the article though because a picture has appeared in the article, and in morbid curiosity Yoongi scrolls it down so he can see its contents. He’s barely registered the contents of the picture until it’s taking up most of the screen. The picture of him and the man he’s allegedly cheating on his husband with. A picture of him and… Jungkook? Yoongi frowns and scrolls to the bottom of the picture but no that’s definitely a picture of him and Jungkook. It’s from Jessi’s listening party last year. He’s not really doing anything inappropriate with Jungkook, though they are pressed close together as they sit off to the side of the room and look at a phone screen together. Jungkook does have his arm slung around the back of Yoongi’s chair. Ok maybe it looks a bit like they’re a couple.
So why they fuck does Dispatch think that Yoongi’s cheating with Jungkook? He’s about to ask when his gaze falls on a different part of the picture and his eyes widen slightly. In the background of the picture you can clearly see Yijeong looking over at them. With a look of what could be hurt? Honestly Yoongi has no idea what’s going on here, he barely remembers even sitting down and looking at that phone with Jungkook.
Then suddenly it hits him what’s going on. Yoongi’s gaze snaps up to Yijeong and his eyes go a little wide. “People think that I’m cheating on you with Jungkook?”
“Yah.” Yijeong says quietly.
“And why are you looking at us like this?” Yoongi points to Yijeong in the back of the picture.
Yijeong chuckles humourlessly. “Some woman stepped on my foot with her stiletto and I don’t think she even noticed because she was super drunk.” He leans forward and points at the picture where you can see a woman in a little red cocktail dress being led through the crowd by who looks like Woo Jiho just a few paces away from where Yoongi and Jungkook are sitting.
“She didn’t even notice she stomped on your foot?”
“Yah I’m pretty sure she was like seconds away from throwing up so I’m not even that mad. Jiho even apologised as he tried to get her towards the bathrooms. But it hurt so fucking much. I had a bruise for like 3 weeks.” Yijeong grimaces.
“Huh” is all Yoongi can manage to say.
“Ther are more pictures.” Yijeong says grimly as he starts slowly scrolling down the page.
Next there’s a picture of him and Yijeong at an awards show sitting in the audience and tightly gripping each other’s hands. They’d been waiting for the announcement of one of Jungkook’s awards. Yoongi had wanted to sit with Jungkook at the awards show but ultimately that would have been super suspicious considering they worked for different companies and to the public they were only friends. So he’d sat several rows back with some other Big Hit producers and Yijeong.
Then there’s a picture of Jungkook and Yoongi from the same awards show. Jungkook is off to one side and holding out his arms to Yoongi for a hug and looking at him with something Yoongi can only describe as bright and loving. Yoongi has his back to the camera so he can’t see his own expression. Yijeong is on the other side of the photo with his back to them and is talking to someone half cut off by the picture.
There are a lot of pictures in the article. Some of which Yoongi is pretty sure are AI generated and Yijeong agrees. Most of the real ones are completely innocent and just depict Yoongi being physically close with either Yijeong or Jungkook. That is until the last one. The last one that Yoongi’s not even sure how it was taken. The last one that Yoongi in his heart knows is real.
“This is from inside the Big Hit company building… we have a leak in the company.” Yoongi says quietly as he stares at the picture in defeat.
“Mmm, yah. That’s also what I was thinking.” Yijeong says equally quietly. “Do you have any idea when this was taken?”
Yoongi pulls the laptop closer to his face so that he can look at the picture better. He’s standing in front of his studio door with Jungkook. Jungkook has his hands on Yoongi’s waist and Yoongi has a hand on Jungkook’s bicep as they lean together to share a kiss. It would honestly be a sweet picture were it not the most damning piece of evidence in the article to prove that Yoongi and Jungkook do have some sort of relationship.
Tapping the screen on Jungkook’s arm Yoongi glances over at Yijeong, “Well it’s from the last couple years because Jungkook doesn’t have the eye any more.” He taps where they’re kissing. “And you can see the lip piercings.” But otherwise I don’t know, we’re both wearing all black nondescript clothing. Given the size I might actually be wearing one of Jungkook’s shirts.
“I think it might be from after you recorded the Suchwita episode with PSY? Aren’t those the sneakers he gave you?” Yijeong taps the screen where you can see one of Yoongi’s sneakers clearly.
He brings the laptop back closer to his face again and squints at them. He probably should have found his glasses before he started looking at these pictures. He hadn’t even thought of that with everything going on. “You’re right. This is recent. Like last few months.”
“Hey, what’s going on?”
In his surprise Yoongi nearly drops the laptop he’s holding. Jungkook is now standing at the entrance of the living room, clearly freshly showered and casually drying his hair with a towel.
Yoongi’s heart clenches painfully. Somehow he’d gotten caught up in everything and hadn’t even thought to call for Jungkook. And now… now he has to break devastating news to one of the people he cherishes most.
There must be something in his expression because Jungkook freezes what he’s doing and his brow creases in worry. “What’s wrong?”
The words feel dry and acrid in his mouth but somehow Yoongi manages to pat the couch next to himself and say gently “Come sit.”
“Of course”. Jungkook is across the room and sitting next to Yoongi in seconds. He drops the towel on the coffee table as he goes and now - now Jungkook is there pressed to his side and Yoongi doesn’t know what to do.
“Dispatch wrote an article.” Yoongi turns the laptop screen so Jungkook can see the picture of them kissing. “They know.”
“Oh my god.” Jungkook whispers. He takes the laptop and pulls it closer to his face so he can see. He must not have his contacts in and he’s definitely not wearing his glasses either. The way he’s squinting at the screen would almost be cute if the situation wasn't so dire.
“And it’s not just that.” Yoongi says quietly.
“What?” Jungkook’s gaze snaps to Yoongi.
“They uhh, apparently know about the wedding in Australia.”
“Ok.” Jungkook nods, almost looking a little relieved.
“Well, not any details, but that there was a wedding.” Yoongi is starting to sweat a little. “So they know I’m married. But not legally, obviously.”
“Ok?” Jungkook says a little uncertainly.
“And uhh…” Looking into Jungkook’s eyes now Yoongi is suddenly frozen. How does he even say the rest of it? It’s already so overwhelming and devastating.
“They think that it’s Yoongi and I that got married there.” Yijeong says softly.
Yoongi’s gaze snaps to Yijeong and he feels some relief.
“Ok.” Jungkook says, now seeming a little bewildered. His brow furrows as he seems to be processing everything and then shock blooms on his face. “Oh my god they think that you two are married and I’m the side piece, don’t they!” The look of shock is short lived though as his face quickly falls into anger. “How dare they accuse you of cheating? What the fuck?”
Yoongi can’t help it. He lets out a little huff of a laugh. Leave it to Jungkook to be worried about someone hurting Yoongi more than himself.
“You think this is funny?” Jungkook’s eyes are going wide in bewilderment, with a little tinge of hurt in them.
“No. Not at all.” Yoongi reaches over and gently grabs one of Jungkook’s hands so he can squeeze it. “It’s just sweet that the thing you’re worried most about is me.”
Jungkook’s expression steels to something serious. “Of course. You’re the most important thing to me.” He leans forward so he can see around Yoongi better, face still serious. “And you’re super important to me too, hyung.”
Despite how tense the situation is, Yijeong can’t help the soft smile. “Of course. I never doubted that for a second.”
“Good.” Jungkook nods resolutely. His gaze then falls on the laptop which he scowls at. “I'm guessing Dispatch did an article?”
“Yah.” Yoongi sighs and then scrolls back up to the top of the article so Jungkook can read it.
Tentatively Jungkook grabs it and then pulls it close to his face to read while glaring daggers into the screen.
Yoongi can't help but laugh a little. “Let me go find your glasses.”
“Oh,” Jungkkok looks up, startled. “Thanks.” He gives Yoongi a tight smile which quickly turns into a look of horror. “Oh my god I need to phone my manager. She's probably freaking out.”
Thus ensures a 3 minute search for Jungkook's phone. Eventually Yoongi is the one to find it in Jungkook's pants pocket half way down the hallway to their bedroom. It's completely dead. Which is not surprising because Jungkook on a good day is bad at keeping it charged, and today is the worst of days.
Jungkook takes the phone and plugs it in in the living room then sighs. “Fuck.”
“Here.” Yijeong holds out his own phone, screen unlocked and already on Jungkook's manager's contact.
“Are you sure? Don't you need your phone in case someone calls?”
Yijeong laughs humourlessly. “Honestly I've declined like 95% of the calls I've gotten this morning. It's fine.”
“OK.” Jungkook takes the phone and with defeat hits the dial button.”
Yoongi stands up and nods towards the bedroom. “I'm going to go take a shower and get changed.”
“Yah, that's probably a good idea.” Yijeong's cheeks go a little red and he tries yet fails to not look at the strip of skin exposed between the bottom of Yoongi's shirt and the top of his athletic pants.
Under different circumstances maybe Yoongi would tease him a little about the blush. But currently it doesn't feel right to do so. With a nod Yoongi turns and heads to the master bathroom. With the door firmly shut he hastily pulls off his clothes and heads into the shower.
The shower is one of Yoongi’s favourite places to think. It’s both noisy and quiet at the same time. The shower off the master bedroom is ridiculously big. It’s great for shower sex and normally on a day off together he and Jungkook would use it to its full potential. However today, in a way, he’s almost relieved now that he’s showering alone because it gives him a moment to collect his thoughts.
Surprisingly, he feels almost relieved that this has happened. Sure it has the potential to completely ruin his professional career. But this has always been a huge secret weighing heavy on his and Jungkook’s shoulders. Yoongi has always prided himself in being honest with his fans and Jungkook is much the same. It’s honestly a miracle that neither of them have outright blown the secret. It definitely sucks though that Yijeong has gotten caught up in everything. He deserves to be caught up in the middle of this mess even less than Jungkook and Yoongi do.
In an ideal world Yoongi and Jungkook could just clear this all up by admitting to their relationship. But this isn’t an ideal world so they have to play by the rules of an unjust society. A Society where idols are not allowed to be publicly married, and especially not two male idols to each other.
The one silver lining is that Big Hit won't dump him over this. Having his best friend Namjoon as the CEO definitely helps, but as a whole the company has been pretty accepting of his relationship with Jungkook from the very beginning. Yoongi has even been in talks with them about coming out publicly as bisexual. The consensus had been that he might get the green light to come out soon if the response to 31 goes well.
Fuck, the album. 31 is a collaborative album between him and Yijeong featuring both duo and solo tracks from them. The album reflects on their 20s and how they’ve now left them behind and have stepped into their 30s as people that are starting to understand themselves finally. The music video for the title track “Things I Can't Say” even depicted the two of them playing a set of lovers whose relationship has fallen apart because of the things they couldn’t say to each other.
The company isn't likely to dump him, but this whole situation could completely derail the release of their album. Hopefully this all only delays it. Honestly there’s the potential for the whole thing getting cancelled altogether.
Fuck, he probably should have called Sejin back. Now the album is all Yoongi can think about. They worked so hard on it. Yijeong hadn't even wanted to go back to being an idol so it had taken a lot for Yoongi to even convince him to do a split album like this. Maybe if the company gave them the ok eventually then maybe Yijeong would want to shelve it. Which would be fine because Yoongi cares way too deeply for Yijeong to ever do something that could hurt him. But it'd still suck coming this close to releasing such a personally important album and in the end not getting to do so.
He turns off the shower and quickly towels off. Without much thought he throws on some clothes (but at least makes sure he isn't wearing a crop top this time) and then hurries back to the living room.
Jungkook is sitting with his back to one armrest and his legs stretched out across the couch. Yijeong is sitting between his legs, and back leaned against his chest.
“Wow.” Yoongi lets out a huff of laughter and both Jungkook and Yijeong's gazes snap up from where they've been fixated on Yijeong's phone screen. “If Dispatch could see you now they'd be reporting on how you two were cheating behind my back.”
Jungkook rolls his eyes. “I needed cuddles and you weren't here.”
“I'm sorry, baby.” Yoongi sits on the other side of the couch and immediately Jungkook sticks a foot under Yoongi's thigh. Yijeong just slides his feet into Yoongi’s lap.
“S'ok.” Jungkook wraps an arm around Yijeong's stomach. “Hyung is a really good cuddler. And unlike you he likes to cuddle.”
“I am very cuddly.” Yijeong grins.
Yoongi gives them his best pout. “I like to cuddle.”
Both Yijeong and Jungkook laugh.
“Sorry Yoongs, you are like a cat that has reserved themself to the fact they will be cuddled. You don't turn it down but you're rarely the one to initiate.” Yijeong says.
Yoongi would try to protest but there's Jungkook nodding along in agreement.
“Fine, fine.” Yoongi sighs and runs a hand through his damp hair. “What did your manager say?”
Jungkook's face scrunched up like he bit into a lemon. “Well she was mad I didn't answer my phone but after I said it was dead and I was busy doing butt stuff with you-”
“You what?” Yoongi gapes at him, absolutely scandalised.
“Well she kept yelling at me so I panicked and made it awkward. At least it stopped her yelling.” Jungkook runs a hand through his hair. “Anyway she pretty much told me to not go on social media and that the company was going to handle it by putting out a statement that since it's my personal life they didn't even bother to ask and people should just ignore the article.”
“They do know that ignoring it won't make it go away, right?” Yoongi asks, a bit bewildered.
Jungkook lets out a dramatic sigh. “Well what else did we expect? It's what they've done with every one of my dating scandals. Hell they even tried that when Hyunwoo's scandal broke and we all know what kind of shit show that turned into.”
They all fall quiet after that, thinking about said scandal. The one that had started off with rumours of Hyunwoo hitting one of his ex girlfriends. Rumours that spread and morphed into darker things until one day the police showed up at the company building to arrest him. An investigation and eventual conviction that led to the disbandment of CONST311ATION, and nearly an end to the careers of Jungkook, Jin, Jimin, and Taehyung.
But this wasn’t that. None of them had done anything illegal and they certainly didn’t have any ties to Burning Sun.
“And one more thing,” Yijeong’s voice cuts through the silent room and Yoongi’s gaze falls on him. “Everyone’s coming here. They wanted us to head into the company building ASAP but then apparently it’s turning into a shitshow there. There are fans and news outlets everywhere. They’re cancelling all non-essential business and sending people home just in case it gets worse.”
Yoongi groans and buries his face in his hands. Fuck. “Who all is everyone?”
Yijeong hums. “Not sure entirely. Namjoon, Sejin for sure. A lawyer or two. Maybe some other staff.”
“Oh, we should probably get some stuff cleaned up before they get here then.” Jungkook says almost absently. “Y’know, like your underwear on the coffee table.”
“My what?” Yoongi’s gaze snaps to the coffee table where indeed his underwear are there. He’s not sure if they wound up there from last night’s activities or from the frantic search for their phones.
Yijeong starts laughing. “Yah we should probably make sure you don’t have any dildos drying in the sink too.”
“That was one time!” Jungkook yelps as he starts trying to push a still laughing Yijeong off of him.
“It was like twice. Once in your bathroom and once in the kitchen.”
“Well that’s on you for snooping around in our bathroom.” Jungkook pouts.
Finally managing to detangle himself, Yijeong gets up and then mock glares down at Jungkook. “Yah, you told me to go in there to look for your phone, so it’s on you.”
“Oh my god, you two.” Yoongi says in exasperation as he manages to haul himself off the couch. He grabs his underwear off the coffee table and then starts trying to gather up anything else he needs to take to the bedroom.
Scrambling to his feet Jungkook grins at Yoongi. “You love us though!” He throws an arm around Yijeong’s shoulder and turns his big puppy eyes on Yoongi.
Yoongi glances over and then rolls his eyes. He can’t help but smile a little fondly though. “Yah, I do. Now let’s do some cleanup and then I’ll make some food.”
Jungkook’s eyes light up at the mention of food. “Ok!” he starts tidying with intense enthusiasm. He must be hungry. It makes Yoongi smile more.
With the 3 of them it doesn’t take long to tidy everything up. Yijeong and Jungkook even tackle the dishes so Yoongi can take a few moments to phone his mom and let her know that everything’s as ok as it can be given the situation. Yoongi opts to ignore the other 100 or so texts and dozens of missed phone calls he has. He hates to leave everyone unanswered but honestly the amount of messages is overwhelming.
They even manage to get most of the way through their meal before the doorbell rings.
Yoongi starts to get up but Yijeong holds out a hand as he gets up instead. “You finish your food, all I have is coffee.”
“Ok.” Yoongi slumps back into his chair and begins more frantically shovelling the food in his mouth so he can be done quicker.
A moment later there’s the sound of the front door opening and what sounds like several people entering the apartment. Soft voices fill the apartment, some of which are easy to pick out and some of which Yoongi is pretty sure he doesn’t know who they are. Him and Jungkook manage to finish their food at the same time and then put their dishes haphazardly in the sink before hurrying out to greet everyone.
Already there are bags all over the dining room table. Namjoon and Sejin are at one end along with a woman that Yoongi doesn’t know. At the other end of the table is the head of the law firm that Big Hit uses, Kim Yongmi, and her granddaughter who just graduated from law school Kim Seulgi.
Namjoon looks up as they enter and gives them both a tight smile. “Hey. How are you holding up?”
“Honestly?” Yoongi runs a hand through his hair. “I don’t think it’s really processed yet?”
Namjoon just nods. “Yah, I hear that. I keep hoping I’m going to jolt awake in bed and realise this was all a nightmare.”
Everyone nods in agreement. If only this was a terrible nightmare.
“So what’s the plan?” Yijeong asks.
“Well we have to go over what in the article is real and what’s fake - which I’m pretty sure a bunch of those pictures are AI generated?” Namjoon glances between Jungkook, Yijeong, and Yoongi.
“Oh 100% that one where Yoongi and I are supposedly on the restaurant date the woman at the next table over has 3 left hands.” Yijeong is already pulling out his phone so he can show the picture in question.
“I don’t know if that makes this whole situation better or worse.” Namjoon groans.
“Worse.” Seulgi rubs at her temple like she’s already trying to stave off a headache. Yoongi feels that deep in his soul.
“I can help sort through the pictures.” The woman Yoongi doesn’t know says brightly. “I had a minor in photography so I’m pretty good with picking out AI.”
“Sure that sounds great. And I’m sorry if this sounds rude but would you mind telling us who you are?” Yijeong smiles kindly at her but still seems a bit guarded around the stranger.
“Oh, I’m Park Jiyeon.” The woman bows low. She glances at Jungkook and her face immediately turns red. She glances away and then starts rummaging around in the bag in front of her. “I’m a manger. I just started at the company. I’m supposed to work with TXT but then this happened and I’m here now? Because I was the easiest person to clear of being involved since I started like 2 weeks ago and oh my god I’m in Jeon Jungkook’s house. My wife is going to have a heart attack.” It’s said all in a rush as her face and ears get progressively redder the longer she talks.
“Is your wife ok?” Jungkook asks earnestly.
Jiyeon’s head snaps up and she looks up at Jungkook. “Yes! I mean she’s a fan. Like a huge fan. She’s followed you since you debuted with CONST311ATION and she has all your albums and went to so many fansigns and she’s not going to believe this! I mean I wish this were under better circumstances because being outed sucks. I’ve been there. Wow, I don’t normally talk this much but I’m a little overwhelmed.” She fans herself a little to try to calm down.
“Here,” Sejin pulls out a chair and Jiyeon immediately sits down in it.
In a way it’s almost a little endearing. The way she’s so starstruck is cute and it reminds Yoongi of his favourite part of being an idol, the loving fans. Maybe it should be a little concerned because she is a stranger gushing like this about Jungkook in his dining room, but he also figures if she is even remotely capable of being a problem then Namjoon and Sejin wouldn’t have brought her.
“Just take a moment to collect yourself.” Sejin gently pats her on the shoulder and then grabs the bag that Jiyeon had been trying to dig through. He pulls out 3 cell phones and hands one each to Yijeong, Jungkook, and Yoongi. “Here, we figured you all would be getting an overwhelming amount of messages. This way you can give this new number to anyone you want to prioritize calls and texts from.”
“Umm, but I don’t even work for your company?” Jungkook looks at Sejin bewildered.
Sejin just smiles kindly at him. “Yes, but you’re family.”
Smiling shyly Jungkook glances down at the phone. “Thank you.”
Grabbing the bag again Sejin pulls out several phone cases. “We just grabbed some of what we had on hand for you, so I hope one of these will be ok.
Excitedly Jungkook grabs the cases and surveys his options. After a few seconds he looks up at Sejin, disappointed. “There aren’t any Agust D ones.”
Sejin just huffs out a little laugh. “Anything we had was for older phones. There aren’t any cases at the office yet for the upcoming album”
“I guess I’ll let it slide this time.” Jungkook mock glares at him for a couple seconds more before he turns back to the cases and pulls out a LE SSERAFIM one. “At least my girls are represented.”
Yijeong pulls out a TXT case and shrugs. “They’re like my kids at this point.”
“I thought AHOF were your kids?” Yoongi raised an eyebrow. They’d actually wanted to put out their album earlier in the year but then Yijeong had gotten wrapped up in producing AHOF’s debut album so they’d pushed it back.
“They’re all my kids. I’m a single father of 14 at this point.” Yijeong sighs.
Yoongi snorts. “Pretty sure that we at least share custody of TXT. I bought them chicken once and it was like ducklings imprinting on their mother.”
“So does that make you their mother then?” Namjoon teases.
Mouth falling open in shock Yoongi stares over at Namjoon. “I guess I walked into that one.”
“Come on, mom.” Yijeong says with a grin as he grabs Yoongi by the elbow and leads him to a chair at the other end of the table. “Let’s get started with the Kim ladies because they seem to be patiently waiting for us. I feel like we have a lot to get through.”
Slightly embarrassed Yoongi bows to Kim Yongmi and apologises profusely before he sits in one of the chairs near her.
Yongmi smiles softly at him. “Don’t worry about it. It’s honestly very sweet watching you all. But Yijeong is right, we have a lot to sort through.”
It takes them the better part of the afternoon to get through everything. Their apartment becomes a revolving door of staff. Various members of the PR team show up, a frazzled looking legal aide seems to come and go a lot, a couple police officers show up for a while, and even Jungkook’s mom makes an appearance with containers of food and warm hugs. Yoongi even has a brief conversation with Lee Soohyuk who lives down the hall when he’d been letting someone in (or was it out? He doesn’t even remember now) and they’d crossed paths. Neither him nor Jungkook are close with Soohyuk but he’d still made a point to say how he’s here for them if they need, and point out that he’s still waiting for an invitation to be on Suchwita. In a way it’s kind of relieving to have someone who’s not involved in the situation be so supportive. It eases some of Yoongi’s worries.
It’s now late evening and everyone looks exhausted. It’s down to just Namjoon, Yongmi, and Yijeong left in the apartment. Yoongi is so exhausted he honestly hasn’t even been hearing anything that’s been said in at least the last 10 minutes. He is startled back to reality though when Yongmi closes the laptop she had been taking notes on. Thoughtfully she looks between Yoongi and Yijeong who are sitting side by side. “Regardless of consequences or what anyone else thinks, how would you two like to resolve this?”
Maybe Yoongi should think this through more but almost instantly he finds himself saying “I want to publicly come out as bisexual and tell everyone I’m in a relationship with Jungkook.”
Yongmi nods and then looks at Yijeong.
Yijeong takes a little longer to respond. After a moment he takes in a sharp breath and then looks up at Yongmi “I want to publicly come out too. I know I’d been more apprehensive about that in the past but I think the time is right. This way Yoongi and I can stand together. It’d also be better for our album. I know we’d talked about maybe coming out after the album so this is just kind of doing this backwards from the original plan. I feel like if we deny things now and then the music video for ‘Things I Can’t Say’ drops then everyone will call us hypocrites and that we’re doing gay for pay. But if we come out now then it’ll just reinforce a lot of the themes of the album. I mean mostly I want to come out for me but also the album is really personal to me - to us. So coming out now just seems right, you know?”
“I’ll bring it up to the board.” Everyone looks down the table at Namjoon. He’s frowning as he types away on his phone. “I hadn’t even thought of that really regarding the album and the music video but you’re completely right. I have an emergency board meeting scheduled tomorrow at 8AM.”
Jungkook makes a disgusted sound. “8AM? That sounds terrible.”
Namjoon laughs humourlessly. “Yah I am not looking forward to it honestly. Thankfully we have pretty good control of the shares and only one problem board member so far that wants to terminate your contracts.” He glances up and shoots Yoongi and Yijeong a sympathetic look.
Honestly Yoongi’s a little surprised that it’s only one board member. Maybe some of them are just waiting for the meeting to express their opinions. He had faith after all that they wouldn’t outright dump him but hearing that they might have overwhelming support does make him feel a little more at ease.
“Well, if you have an 8AM meeting we should head out so that you can get some rest.” Yongmi starts packing her things into her bag.
“Here, let me help you!” Jungkook springs to his feet and starts gathering up things that are spread all over the table.
There haven’t been many times that Yoongi has met Yongmi. She usually leaves all the meetings to the juniors at her firm. He’s heard that in the courtroom she’s a force to be reckoned with but here, now, with the kind way she’s smiling at Jungkook as he dotes on her, it’s hard to picture.
As if sensing his gaze Yongmi turns to Yoongi and smiles softly. “Don’t worry too much, dear. You all will pull through this. You all have each other. You remind me a lot of my brother. He would have liked you a lot.” Her smile turns a little sad. “He’d be proud of how brave you all are. He’s also why I will do everything to protect you all because your voices need to be heard.”
In this moment Yoongi ralises that moments like this are exactly why he wrote “Things I Can’t Say” with Yijeong. Why they wrote “Haegeum”. Why he’s written any music in his whole career.
Yoongi nods. “I’ll do my best to be a voice worthy of being heard.”
“You already are, dear.” And with that she zips up her bag and starts heading towards the front door. It was said firmly, but kindly, like the closing statement of a debate. With all her years of a lawyer, surely she knows when she’s won a debate so Yoongi just accepts what she’s said.
Namjoon follows close behind Yongmi with his bag slung over his shoulder, and Jungkook hurries after them to see them out. Yoongi feels frozen though until a gentle finger presses under the corner of his eye and wipes the tear that had apparently been there. Completely startled he looks over at Yijeong.
Yijeong holds up his damp finger and smiles. “She’s right. Also I won’t tell anyone how much of a softie you are.”
The words seem to startle Yoongi into being able to move again. He scoffs and wipes again at the corner of his eye. “Yeah, I think everyone already knows that secret.”
Laughing slightly Yijeong nods. “You might be right. We should go see them off though.”
“Yah.”
They head towards the entryway. Yongmi has her hand on the doorknob but pauses so she can nod at Yoongi. “Good night. I’ll be in contact if I need anything else from you two.”
“Of course, good night.” Yoongi and Yijeong say almost in unison as they bow respectfully.
With one final smile Yongmi opens the door and steps out into the hallway.
“I’m going to go home and probably collapse on my bed with my clothes on and sleep like the dead.” Namjoon says as he haphazardly shoves his shoes on.
“You can stay-” Yoongi starts to say but Namjoon just waves him off.
“I know, but I think I just need some quiet to process things.”
“I’m sorry we’re causing you so many problems, hyung.” Jungkook says quietly as he stares at the floor.
“Jungkook…” Namjoon steps forward and places gentle hands on both of Jungkook’s shoulders. “Listen, you haven’t done anything wrong. None of you have.” He makes a point to make eye contact with all of them. “You’re all like family and I’m going to fight like hell for you. Even when that means going to a board meeting at 8 AM.”
“Truly, you make the biggest sacrifices for us.” Yijeong teases.
“You better remember this. I want something expensive for my birthday.” Namjoon winks.
“I’ll buy you a sports car if you can manage to smooth this over.” Yoongi says.
Namjoon just gives him a pained expression. “Please don’t. I still don’t have my license and we all know it’s best for everyone if I don’t. I was thinking like a nice watch.”
“I’ll get you as many watches and Pokemon bread as you want then, hyung.” Jungkook nods his head resolutely.
Placing a hand dramatically over his heart Namjoon grins at Jungkook. “A man after my own heart.”
“Yah no. We have enough confusion over relationships that we don’t need people thinking you’re involved too and we have some sort of polycule going on.” Yoongi starts moving to shuffle Namjoon out the door.
Laughing loudly Namjoon holds up his hands. “Ok ok, I’ll refrain from comments like that. Anyway, my bed is calling. I’ll update you after the meeting. Don’t forget to come into the company at some point so we can do those ridiculous hand written apology letters.” He does roll his eyes at the apology letter part.
“Ugh, I hate those.” Jungkook says with disgust. “They always feel so forced and impersonal. I’d rather just do a livestream.”
Yoongi snorts. “You just want any excuse to do a livestream.”
“But they’re fun! I like interacting with my fans.” Jungkook’s shoulders slump slightly. “Ugh I won’t be able to livestreams for a while now. This is the worst.”
Gently Yoongi takes one of Jungkook’s hands and smiles up at him, “What if I let you video call me when I go into the company building tomorrow and you can pretend it’s a livestream?”
Namjoon makes a disgusted noise. “Ugh you two are getting sappy, that’s really my cue to leave.” He hastily grabs for the door and makes his exit.
“Good night!” Yijeong yells after him.
The door clicks shut and it’s just the 3 of them left. Yijeong standing near the door looking a little lost, and Yoongi and Jungkook standing with their fingers still twined together.
Maybe a bit forlornly Yijeong glances at the door. “I guess I should head out too?”
“Or you could stay.” Jungkook says perhaps a bit too quickly. His cheeks turn a little red and he stares at a spot on the floor. “I mean, do you really want to be alone at a time like this?”
“No,” Yijeong says with a sigh.
Jungkook steps forward, dropping Yoongi’s hand and grabs one of Yijeong’s hands instead. “Then stay. You can stay tonight and tomorrow too and tomorrow’s tomorrow and like honestly forever.”
“Forever, huh?” Yijeong manages a bit of a sly smile. “Are you asking me to move in?”
“Well, uhh, it’s just - you know - you like spend so much time here anyway you know this is your home too, right?”
Yijeong’s smile turns soft. “Yah. I know.”
Yoongi steps forward and places a hand on Jungkook’s shoulder. “Then stay as long as you want. I don’t think any of us should be alone right now.”
“Yah, that’s honestly kind of fair. I don’t know if I’m going to be able to fall asleep tonight.” Yijeong says quietly.
“Ok, then go find some pyjamas or like borrow some - you have so many clothes here but I don’t know what you actually have - and then like come to our bedroom and we’ll watch a really terrible movie or something and make fun of it and hopefully fall asleep at some point.” Jungkook is almost bouncing in excitement.
Yoongi just nods in agreement. “That sounds great honestly.”
Looking a little excited himself Yijeong reaches back to make sure the front door is locked. “Ok I’ll meet you in there in a minute.” He then heads down the hall towards one of the guest bedrooms where he has a bunch of clothes and other essentials that have been forgotten or left here over the years.
Yoongi gestures after Yijeong with his head. “Go get ready, and find a movie. I’ll turn off all the lights.”
“Ok!” Jungkook pretty much runs down the hallway in excitement. It lifts Yoongi’s spirit a little bit. It’s endearing how despite the absolutely soul destroying day they’ve had that Jungkook can still have this brightness and enthusiasm in him.
Quickly Yoongi starts moving around the apartment and turning off lights. In his travels he finds 5 cell phones. He just hopes all of them belong to Yijeong, Jungkook, and himself. He can’t help at smile down though at his new phone. Jungkook had put a clear case on it and stuck one of his own photocards in the case. It’s a really cute photocard of Jungkook with his bunny smile and giving a peace sign to the camera. It’s a far cry from the plain black case Yoongi had on his old phone but he’s finding he quite likes the new one.
He gets to the bedroom at the same time Yijeong does. He’s clad in a tshirt and some sweats and is holding his new phone.
“I hope one of these is yours.” Yoongi holds up the phones.
“Oh shit,” Yijeong laughs as he pulls one out of the bunch. “Having 2 phones is a pain but also at least I can turn my old one on silent and pretend we’re not in the middle of a crisis.”
Yoongi nods as he steps into the bedroom. “Right? I didn’t think this many people even had my phone number. Though I think at least half of my messages are from Jin making terrible jokes.
Jungkook groans dramatically. “Ugh I love Jin but I can only handle so many dad jokes.”
“Dad jokes?” Yijeong raises an eyebrow.
Yoongi unlocks his phone and opens up his messages with Jin before handing the phone to Yijeong. “See for yourself.” He hands off the other phones to Jungkook and then grabs some pyjamas from the dresser. “I’m just going to wash up and change and then I’ll be ready.”
Now that things have wrapped up for the day the exhaustion is really hitting Yoongi hard. He changes quickly and then heads back into the bedroom. It seems that Yijeong and Jungkook have left him a spot in the middle of the king sized bed. He’s too tired to even give them a hard time about making it hard on him to get into bed.
When he’s settled Yijeong tries to hand Yoongi his phone but he just waves it off and tells him to put it on the bedside table.
“I think it’s sweet Jin sent you both so many jokes.” Yijeong says once they’re all settled. “It’s his way of showing he’s thinking of you and wants to lighten the mood.”
“Yah, it’s sweet. And exhausting.” Yoongi groans.
“You find everything exhausting.” Jungkook teases as he cuddles into Yoongi’s side. “Maybe you’re getting old.”
“I am not old.” Yoongi rolls his eyes dramatically as he flicks Jungkook on the forehead.
“Well you are the oldest here.” Yijeong says.
Yoongi looks over at Yijeong, betrayed. “I’m 6 months older than you. That’s nothing. Ugh this has been a terrible day and you’re both giving me a hide time.”
“Sorry, hyung.” Jungkook lays a gentle kiss on Yoongi’s clothed shoulder. “I’ll save the teasing for another day. Want to watch the movie now?” he gestures up at the TV which indeed does have a movie paused.
“Sure. What are we even watching?”
Jungkook just shrugs. “Dunno. The ratings were terrible but everyone said it’s great to make fun of.”
“Sounds great.” Yijeong cuddles into Yoongi’s other side and gets ready to watch the movie.
Probably in 10 minutes Yoongi is going to find this too hot but for now he lets it slide. The cuddles are nice, especially after the day they’ve all had. At the end of the day there’s nowhere Yoongi would rather be than sandwiched between his two closest friends in the world.
It doesn’t even matter that Yoongi is being used as a human teddy bear because he falls asleep within 5 minutes of the movie starting and sleeps one of the deepest most peaceful sleeps of his life.
