Lewis hadn’t planned to spend the night watching someone else’s stream. He was just hungry and too tired to play anything himself, so he figured he’d hang out with his chat while eating and maybe put something on in the background. Something light.
“Alright,” he said, leaning back in his chair. “We’re doing something chill tonight. I’ve got food, and I need entertainment while I eat. Any recommendations?”

Lewis laughed, “Absolutely not.”

“I promise we don’t look at any comps,” he giggled, unwrapping his food. “I’ll just go onto youtube and click whatever I find that looks interesting. Like...this!”

Lewis chuckled. “Perfect.”
He clicked.
The stream opened mid-disaster. A young guy with messy brown hair was perched too close to his webcam, yelling at his screen as his pixelated character missed another jump.
“Okay, okay—jump, shift—no! No, that’s not fair! That’s actually illegal!” Charles threw his hands up and laughed, dramatic and exasperated all at once. “This game hates me. It’s personal now.”
Lewis wincend. “His audio quality is questionable. It’s like Lando’s but somehow worse.” The accent caught him first. It was soft, lilting in a way that made even his curses sound charming. “Man’s going through it,” Lewis muttered. His own chat was already spamming curiosity.

Lewis blinked. The viewer count on the other stream was ticking up fast—five hundred, six hundred, seven hundred.
“Oh no,” he said with a laugh. “Did I just raid this poor man?”
He leaned closer, amused as Charles fell again.
“Okay, no, no, no. This time I’m serious,” Charles muttered on screen. “This jump is mine.”
He missed. Again.
Lewis burst out laughing.
“He’s been live for an hour just doing this?”
Then Charles squinted at his chat. “Wait. Why are there suddenly so many people here? What happened? Did I go viral?”
The messages on his screen were moving too fast to read, but a few stood out.
“Lewis sent us? Which Lewis?” He leaned closer. “No. No way. You mean XNDA Lewis? You’re lying. He’s not watching this.”
Lewis froze mid-bite, “Oh, great. It’s a fan.”
Charles was laughing nervously now. “No, no, that’s not real. If it’s real, I’m—wait, hold on.”
Lewis sighed, already reaching for his donation window.

On Charles’ stream, the alert popped up a second later. His eyes went wide. “Oh my god, that’s actually you.” He put his head in his hands, laughing. “Okay, I take back every time I said I hated this game. Hi, Lewis.”
Lewis couldn’t help laughing. “Hey,” he responded, as if the other could hear him.
Charles looked like he didn’t know what to do with himself. “This is—wow. I’m shaking, hang on. I’ve watched all your VODs, man. Every single one. You’re, like, my favorite streamer. I can’t believe this is happening.”
Lewis paused, surprised by how genuine it sounded. “Wow.”
“Really,” Charles said quickly, smiling like he couldn’t stop. “You make it look so easy. And your editing—it’s so good. I always steal ideas from you. I mean, not steal, just… borrow.”
Lewis laughed under his breath. “A real fan, huh.”
“I may have gotten inspiration to start streaming because of you,” Charles admitted.
Lewis’ chat was eating it up.

“Y’all are too much,” Lewis said, though he was smiling again.
Charles respawned for what had to be the fifteenth time. “Alright, I cannot keep dying in front of Lewis Hamilton. I have to focus. This one’s it.”
He unpaused the game, his focus back onto making the difficult parkour jump.
He missed again.
“Too early,” Lewis murmured automatically. Then he typed another donation.

Charles read it aloud, startled, and started laughing. “Okay, coach! I’ll try.”
He lined it up again, ran, jumped—landed perfectly.
“YES! Finally!” He threw his hands up like he’d just won a race. “Lewis, I’m hiring you. You’re the goat.”
“Glad to be of service,” Lewis said to no one, trying not to grin too hard.
His chat wasn’t helping.

Lewis raised his eyebrows. “You guys need to calm down.” He hesitated a beat too long before adding, “I mean, he is—” and then stopped himself, laughing. “He’s got good lighting, that’s all.”
His chat exploded instantly.

Lewis groaned, hiding his face. “You guys twist everything.”
Meanwhile, Charles’ stream had gone equally feral.
“Wait, wait,” Charles said, squinting at the messages flying by. “No. No, he did not say that. You’re lying.”
His chat was relentless.
“Clip it if you’re so sure!” he challenged, laughing. “There’s no way he actually said that.”
Lewis laughed so hard his shoulders shook. “Guys don’t clip it,” he exclaimed, knowing it’d fall on deaf ears.
When he looked back, Charles was hiding his face behind his hands, still laughing. “If that’s actually true,” he said, muffled through his fingers, “I’m ending stream right now.”
Lewis grinned. “He’s adorable,” he said softly, not meaning to say it out loud.
He sent another small donation.

Lewis smiled as he hit sent, his fingers already moving to send in another donation.

Charles froze when he read it. His whole face went red as he started laughing helplessly. “No, no, no, no. That’s not fair. You can’t just—no.”
He leaned back in his chair, still giggling. “You’re evil for that. You’re actually trying to kill me.”
Lewis smirked, half to himself.
His own chat was losing their minds.

Charles eventually calmed down enough to breathe again. “Alright,” he said, exhaling hard. “That’s it. No more parkour. I literally can’t focus after that.”
Lewis laughed quietly. “You’re welcome.”
Charles looked back at the camera, still smiling. “You really made my night, Lewis. Thank you. Seriously. For the donations, the wonderful chat, and just being here.”
Lewis typed one last donation.

Charles read it softly this time, expression turning gentle. “Right, right, I believe you.”
Lewis leaned back in his chair, trying not to smile too wide, as he watched Charles end his stream saying his last goodbyes to his viewers. A cute fanart being displayed at the end: Thank you for watching!

Lewis laughed quietly, shaking his head. “You all need hobbies,” he said. But he displayed a quick fanart on the screen for his viewers, to subscribe to Charles’ channel with notifications on without anyone knowing.
