Summary:

Artwork for the companion piece by noheteroexplanation. 9 works for the retrospective going along the canon story and 4 works for what happens later.

A post canon fix-it, with a soulmate bond twist (and one more surprise). Safe to read before and after the movie.

I had the privilege to be working with an amazing writer that provided me with an epic story to make artwork for. They were working with me throughout the whole process and I wouldn’t be able to get all of those done without their input and priceless feedback.

As for what I cooked here: The first chapter is actually a very small bit from the beginning and end of the story (by now I’m assuming you read the oneshot, it’s really worth it <3). There’s a scene where Glinda is reminiscing about her life, remembering the different stages of the soul bond changing. I noticed that there’s something similar happening on Elphie’s side by the end. I decided to illustrate those moments from both of their perspectives.

Chapter 1: Past Point of View

 

Taking this intermission to ramble a little bit. All the colours of the soul bonds are intentional and fully approved by The Author. They are a very important part of the whole concept, and are mentioned in the story. We wanted to highlight how their relationship changes and goes through ups and downs throughout the story. Personally, I found this very appealing because often the soul bonds or soulmate marks are treated as a constant that will ultimately bring back the pair together no matter what. But here it’s a lot more complicated and the actions of the characters have influence on their fates. The soulmate is someone that represents an opportunity and a choice.

The second part of the story I’ve been drawing before all the extremely spoilery trailers came out. We also wanted to respect anyone that wanted to avoid seeing straight-up scenes from the Part 2. So, if something seems a little off that’s because I was guessing, haha! As of writing this note, I know the catfight takes place in a different location in the movie than I predicted. I hope you will enjoy the rest of this set anyway. (And context for any time travellers from the future, this was made before For Good came out).
