Summary
Elphaba’s studying her face almost expectantly. They did kiss and confess their undying (romantical!) love for each other the last time they met, after all! Glinda suddenly feels shy (a sentiment she isn’t plagued with too often) under Elphaba’s gaze. Her eyes flicker to green lips; she wants to feel their softness against hers again, to taste and feel until she doesn’t know where she ends and Elphaba begins.
“Elphie?”
“Yes, my sweet?”
The words make Glinda’s breath catch in her throat. “I think you should kiss me again.”

Dearest darlingest Elphie,
It’s taken me the longest time to even write your name because it hurts too much! But I miss talking to you and telling you things and I thought, well, that I’d write to you even though you’ll never get these letters. It’s a bit silly maybe, but I lost my dearest darlingest bestest friend and life has hardly been the same for me anymore. So I thought this might make my heart a bit lighter.
Chistery has been looking after me. And oh, Elphie, he’s speaking full sentences already! I wish you were here to see it. Or well, hear it! He takes some time to get the words out but I still count it as a win. I feel he might be worried I might jump off my balcony or something whenever I look to the western sky and think about you! But can you blame me? Those moments are when I give myself permission to cry and really remember you in peace. ♡
There are too many tears in my eyes right now so I shall stop.

That makes sense! Galinda thinks. She never met the florist hired for the wedding – she’d only asked Pfannee and ShenShen to hire someone with a small business, but other than that, she left the rest to her friends. “Oh, the flowers? Well, they’re beautiful, Elphie… Can I call you Elphie?”
Elphaba raises her brows again. “It’s a bit perky.”

“You really don’t want to start a debate about what’s rude with me,” Elphaba points out before adding, “I didn’t say you look bad.”

That finally makes Elphaba lift her gaze from her notes. She looks at Galinda like she’s said something incredibly weird. To Galinda’s defense, she hasn’t said anything that weird. It’s totally normal to ask a book enthusiast if they’d like to live in a book.
“Why?”
“For the… romance?”
“Haven’t thought about it,” Elphaba answers. “Might be interesting.”
“Interesting?”
“Sure.”

When Galinda notices her new best friend flinches from every touch, she proposes an experiment: exposure therapy, a way to start small and help Elphaba grow more comfortable with herself and others, one touch at a time.
